Out of Reach
warnings: pw/p(p0rn with plot), tipsy sex, he doesnt pull out (birth control dw), clit stimulation, p in v, vaginal fingering
credits: @hopelesslygaysstuff for the 18+ header
characters: you, Shoko, gojo, geto,
intro: geto notices you for the first time in the library while he is with his friends
Tumblr media
Geto had his eyes on you for a long, long time. But, you never noticed. He always tried to find you around campus and talk to you. But, he never could. Geto first noticed you at the library when he was with Gojo. You happened to be with Shoko, who is one of his close friends.
Something about you really stood out to him. He never really knew why, but he took an interest in you. He is lazy, but he would chase you around the campus to try and catch up to you, but it never really worked out. You both had different majors, meaning you would be in different departments. He majored in humanities while you majored in computer science.
Geto thought about you all day long, he didn't want to but couldn't stop thinking about you. You were pretty, with a cute smile, and you were smart. How did Geto know? Well, he may or may not have texted Shoko about you. He lays in bed every night, hoping to get the chance to talk to you one day.
Tumblr media
That man was so happy. He actually started smiling when Shoko told him you would be at Gojo's party in his apartment. He was excited to finally be able to have a proper conversation with you that doesn't have him running around campus, slipping like 10 times to catch up to you. Who knows why he was so crazy about you?
It was finally Friday night. Geto always hangs out at Gojo's house and helps prepare the drinks and food whenever there is a party. Geto was yapping on and on about you and how it's so hard to talk to you as he was laying out the plastic plates on the table and ordering the food. Gojo was so annoyed with that man, "Just get her number and text her, dude."
Geto seems like an overall confident person, but when it came to you, he was nervous, he didn't wanna make a weird first impression. "You don't get it." He sighed, sitting on the sofa, "You think she might like me?"
"No, fuck no." Gojo laughed, "You're scared to even approach her, pussy."
"I try to catch up to her."
"Try harder."
Geto rolled his eyes and cussed under his breath. But, it was the truth. He was trying, of course. But whenever he caught up to you, he would chicken out and just, not.
Gojo heard a knock on his door. They both looked at each other and looked at the clock, it wasn't time for the party yet.
Well, guess it was.
He opened the door and saw a bunch of his classmates and friends just come in with bottles of vodka and tequila. Screaming and singing. More and more people came in. You could say almost the entirety of the college students were there, except you and Shoko. G
Geto was in a corner while Gojo had girls all over him. He kept on texting Shoko and spamming her to get here faster.
Meanwhile you and Shoko...
"Hurry up, Y/N, please!" Shoko whined, lying down on the couch, replying to Geto's text.
"Sorry, wait!" You yelled from the bathroom, applying mascara on your lashes.
You wore a cheetah print top with flared jeans and a rhinestone belt. You brushed your hair, thinking about the party, obviously you know Gojo, he's really popular afterall. He was always with this guy. Tall, muscular, and he looked tired all the time. You finally finished getting ready, putting on your necklace and earrings and stepped out of the bathroom.
Shoko complimented you and you guys took a few pictures together. You both put on your shoes and legit rushed out. Trying to find a cab to get to Gojo's place. You were excited, because this was your first ever party, especially in college. Even though you're a sophomore, you avoided parties a lot because you focused on your grades too much. After becoming friends with Shoko, you let loose a bit and finally agreed to go to a party.
Shoko was talking about Geto as you both got in the cab and you couldn't recognize his name. She showed you a picture and you finally realized that was the Geto Shoko was always talking about. You couldn't even deny it, that man was fine, but you didn't say anything.
After a while of asking Shoko for more pictures of Geto and staring at his pictures as if he were the most beautiful man ever, you finally reached Gojo's place. You and Shoko got out of the car, and you were out here taking deep breaths because you were nervous about the party. As you both walked towards Gojo's door, Shoko was reassuring you that everything would be fine and parties weren't that big of a deal.
The door was open, damn. That man was really fearless.
You walked in with Shoko, astounded by how big Gojo's apartment really was. Geto noticed you and Shoko, letting out a sigh of relief because truly, he was worried sick thinking YOU(not Shoko) got in an accident and died. He finished his glass of beer and started walking towards you. Then, Shoko dragged you off to somewhere else, giving you a tour of Gojo's apartment. Geto clenched his fists, muttering out a bunch of fuck you's to Shoko.
Tumblr media
Geto finally managed to catch up to you and Shoko, finding you guys hanging with Satoru. You looked at Geto, finally realizing that man was even finer in real life. You gave him a warm smile, before turning back to Gojo.
Geto's face nearly turned red. Did you just smile at him? He couldn't believe it.
"Hear me out, let's play beer pong." Satoru smirked, setting up the plastic cups. It was an upside-down triangle laid on the table.
You looked at Shoko, nodded, and helped pour the beer into the plastic.
You guys played beer pong for a while, switching some of the cups with beer and then tequila and vodka.
Satoru and Shoko were drunk as fuck and out like a light, you and Geto were only a bit tipsy because you both were actually good at the game and meanwhile, Gojo and Shoko sucked ass with their angles.
It was like, 3 a.m., and Satoru and Shoko were still out. You and Geto were sitting on the couch, talking and he confessed about how he always chased you around campus and tried to talk to you, but he always chickened out. You laughed at that, but on the inside, you were screaming. A man, like him, took an interest, in YOU? You talked about how you kept begging Shoko for pictures of him because you thought he was so cute.
There was some tension between you two. You both basically just confessed your feelings at this point. You laughed it out, trying your best not to create awkwardness between you two.
But, he didn't care. Whether it was awkward or not, all he cared was being there with you. Just you being present makes him happy.
He put his hand on your cheek, getting closer to your face, making sure you're comfortable before pulling you into a deep kiss.
Tumblr media
You didn't know how it got to this point. From you and Geto laughing at each other, to a bit of making out, and then to you being carried to the guest bed.
He placed you on the bed gently, pulling you into a kiss as his fingers ran down your chest to your waistband, slowly pulling your jeans off. Your heart was beating out of your chest. All of this happened in a flash. He slid your top up so your bra would be exposed. You could feel the dampness in your panties from just seeing him like this. He kissed down your neck to your stomach. His hand slid under your panties, slowly rubbing small circles on your clit. You bucked your hips, trying to squirm away but his hand on your waist kept you in place.
He inserted a finger inside you, catching you off guard. You arched your back slightly, your body squirming as you let out noises. To him, your voice was like a melody, let alone noises. He wanted to get more out of you. He slid another finger in, your wetness making it easier for him. His fingers were so thick, you were almost scared about what his dick would feel like. His fingers curled right against your g-spot, you let out a loud moan, your toes curling as you gripped his shoulder, "S-suguru..." you whimpered. He swore he almost came in his pants after hearing you whimper his name like that. He pulled out his fingers, sliding your panties off.
He inserted his fingers right back inside of your hole. Stretching you out to make you prepared. You gulped as you shut your eyes, moaning as his fingers hit your sweet spot every time he pulled his fingers in and out. He unzipped his pants with his free hand, pulling down his boxers and lining his member to your entrance.
You almost screamed when you saw how long it was. You weren't even sure if it could fit or not. "Say the safeword when you want me to stop, green." He said as he slid his length inside of you, trying his best to be gentle but your pussy felt so good around his dick, he had to hold himself back from cumming right there.
You moaned, "Hngh... s-suguru... please...". He looked you in the eyes, "Please what?" He smirked, his fingers crawled to your clit.
You buried your head in his shoulder, "S-start moving, please." you gulped, you felt so full you thought you would just pass out if he started moving. From this moment on, he loved seeing you be shy in bed, he thought it was so cute especially since it was, you.
His hand grabbed your waist to keep you in place as he started thrusting inside of you. His free hand rubbed small fast circles on your clit, making your eyes roll back from the overwhelming pleasure. His dick hitting your sweet spot and him rubbing your clit at the same time.
"T-too much, too much!" You whined, throwing your back as you felt your orgasm coming. Your hands wrapped around Suguru's neck. It was almost impossible to keep yourself quiet and you were almost screaming but he wasn't complaining at all.
Within minutes, you milked his cock, creating a ring around it. Your pussy clenched around Suguru's cock, "H-holy shit", he groaned. Your toes curled as he sped up his pace, his thick cock kissing your cervix with each thrusts. After a few moments, he filled you with his cum to the brim, painting your walls white as thick ropes of cum spurted out.
He pulled out as he collapsed onto you, but making sure he doesn't put all of his weight. You put your hand on his cheek, smiling before giving him a kiss.
After a few moments, he picked you up to carry you to the shower, helping you clean up.
The very next day, you couldn't even walk.

My first reaction to Disney +
Tumblr media
Hello... It’s been a while since I have posted here. I had exams, then summer vacation and then I finally started college! So now that I’ve settled in I thought it would be fun to give you my thoughts on Disney+! Yes, you read that right! Disney+ is here... in the Netherlands. Exclusively. Disney is having a free trial here which started on September 12th and goes on until launch day on November 12th!
So let’s dive into Disney+
Interface & Features
The interface is pretty standard. It looks like Netflix, but obviously with a nice Disney touch! The home page looks really great in my opinion. On top, there is a header that showcases one movie per category (Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic). You can browse per category as well. When you hover over the brand you get a little animation. Disney has a castle with fireworks, Pixar has the clouds, Marvel has their intro, Star Wars has stars and National Geographic a scenic mountain view. On the search page, you also have several collections like the Princess Collection (all princess movies and series) or Disneynature (all Disneynature movies). Hopefully, they’ll add some more soon. It’s a handy feature in my opinion. You can also create a watchlist.
Tumblr media
I find the movie-watching experience great as well. It’s simple and sleek. You can choose from multiple languages for both audio and subtitles. It’s also really nice to have all the movies in HD. Some of them are even in 4K/HDR! These are mostly Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Live-Action movies and 2 animations (Ralph Breaks The Internet and Aladdin!).
Tumblr media
There is an awesome feature that I stumbled upon while I was doing my research for this post. You can change the way the subtitles, from the color to the font. Even the opacity of the background and the font size! I did see some people complaining about subtitles. I didn’t mind them, however, the fact that Disney is truly listening to the users and trying to fix all these issues is great! Two thumbs up for ya Disney! The last thing I want to touch on here is the extras for the movies. These extras mostly include deleted scenes and trailers. However, some of them have some really cool behind the scenes stuff. The making of Beauty and The Beast, Staging The Ball from the Cinderella Live-action and the making of Sleeping Beauty just to name a few! Really great that all of those are on Disney+ as well.
Tumblr media
Profiles
Just a quick little thing I wanted to touch on before I go to the content. You can choose from a significant number of Disney characters for your profile picture. Ranging from Disney Classics to Marvel & Star Wars to villains and princesses and even Disney Channel!
There are so many to choose from! It’s overwhelming. Here are just a few
Tumblr media
Now it’s time for the most fun part: the content. All of the originals are not on the service yet, those will come out when Disney+ officially launches on November 12th.
Disney
What isn’t on this page?! The amount of content is so incredible. And not even everything is on it yet! Here you can find your classic Disney animations from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Ralph Breaks The Internet. All in glorious HD or even 4K sometimes. They also have some true Mickey Mouse classics like Steamboat Willie. All the Live-action movies are included here as well. From the more recent remakes (even Dumbo is on here already! If you haven’t seen it yet, please do) to absolute classics like The Princess Diaries, Mary Poppins and all the Pirates of The Caribbean movies. If you grew up with Disney Channel, all your favorite movies and shows can be found on Disney+ now! Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Camp Rock, The Cheetah Girls, That’s so Raven, Halloweentown, Descendants and so many more (all the seasons and sequels for everything). For the little ones, there’s some Disney Junior content, like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Tumblr media
Pixar
All the Pixar animated classics are here. From Toy Story to The Incredibles 2. Hopefully Toy Story will be streaming soon too. If you love the Pixar shorts, you’ll be happy to hear that these are all on Disney+! Like Piper, Bao, Knick Knack, For The Birds and more. There are even shorts with characters from some of your favorite Pixar movies like Monsters Inc, Ratatouille, Cars and Toy Story.
Tumblr media
Marvel
I just want to thank Disney and Marvel for basically having all the MCU movies here on Disney+! From Iron Man to Captain Marvel. Most of them in 4K as well. And a surprise… Avengers Endgame will hit the service tomorrow!! I’m already preparing to cry my eyes out again. The only movies that are not on the service yet are The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man Homecoming. I really hope Spidey will be on Disney+ as well. I need Far From Home in 4K. Besides MCU related content, you can also watch multiple Marvel animation shows. Like a lot of Spider-Man shows, Rocket and Groot, X-Men, Fantastic Four and many more. Some of the newer live-action Marvel shows are also on the service, like Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD.
Tumblr media
Star Wars
Now for Star Wars. I started watching the movies back in the summer. Disney+ was not being tested yet. So I was excited that all of the entire Star Wars saga can be found here! From Episode I The Phantom Menace all the way to Episode VIII The Last Jedi. It’s been really great to have 1 place to watch these movies.  You can find the spin-off movies Rogue One and Solo here too! You can also watch some animated shows like Star Wars The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and lots of Lego Star Wars shorts.
Tumblr media
National Geographic
To be honest, I haven’t anything from Nat Geo yet. However, they do have a very exciting original coming tomorrow! However, they have Brain Games! I used to love that show, so I’ll definitely watch that. They have some amazing documentaries. Drain The Ocean, Titanic 20 years later and Free Solo just to name a few.
Tumblr media
Disney+ originals at launch
Here is a list + some thoughts:
Star Wars: The Mandalorian (series) (trailers looked very good, so I’m excited for this) Lady and The Tramp (movie) (again trailers looked amazing, great cast as well! Really excited for this!) High School Musical The Musical The Series (series) (yes, that is the actual title, not sure about this one as a massive HSM fan, however, I will check it out) Encore! (series) (not really interested in this one, might watch it one day) The World According to Jeff Goldblum (series) (this is the nat geo original I was telling you about. Such a great idea, who doesn’t love Jeff?! Will watch this 100%) Noelle (movie) (a Christmas movie?! Yes please, I’m in full Christmas mode already so bring it on) Marvel Hero Project (series) (might watch at some point after I have watched all the other things I want to see first) The Imagineering Story (series) (as a huge Disney Parks fan, I might be most excited about this, so that will be the first thing I will watch tomorrow) Pixar In Real Life (series) (I didn’t even know about this until a week ago, looks like a lot of fun, so I will watch this for sure)
The Disney+ app
The app has been pretty solid. It basically works the same as the web version, it’s just on your phone or tablet. The app also has a download feature. Which means you can download anything on the service and watch it offline. How handy is that!  If you have a chrome cast, the app is a must. You can cast all of the movies and shows on your TV, which is great because you won’t have to look on your small screen.
Some issues
This was obviously a test version of the final product so it wasn’t perfect from the get-go. The app struggled in the beginning with the continue watching feature. When you were watching a show, it didn’t let you watch the next episode from your continue watching. However, this has been fixed and now works like you would expect.  The other big issue was the chrome cast compatibility. When I had just subscribed for the trial it would start normal, however, after a while, it would freeze and the image would get all distorted. So that was pretty annoying. Lots of people were having this issue and by magic, it was fixed a couple weeks later and now works as expected!
Is it worth it?
Now if you either love Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars or you love everything, yes it is worth it. Even if you just love Marvel and/or Star Wars, I feel like it’s worth it. You have The Mandalorian coming at launch and so many more in the years to come. Like Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, an Obi-Wan show, and so much more. So maybe if you’re waiting for that, you can get it when those shows will be on Disney+. Plus for the price, it’s a pretty sweet deal. Just €6.99 per month or €69.99 per year (which if you calculate it, can save you €13.89 per year). I love everything so for me it can’t get any better than this. Lots of the movies I watched on Netflix were mostly Disney or Marvel movies, so for me, this service is perfect.
Wow, this was a long one. If you have read it all the way through, thank you so much! I hope it was informative.
So how excited are you for Disney+? Will you be getting it at launch or will you wait? Plus if you are getting it, what will you watch first?
Have a magical day!
XO

Randi Lyn Shipp is Fearless in Her Wheel-standing 1967 Firebird!
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone more deeply immersed in the sport of drag racing than Indiana’s Randi Lyn Shipp. “Rocket” Shipp, as she’s known, has been strapping herself to racecars since the age of 8, and since then her entire life has revolved around the straight-line sport. Her father Randy, brother Joey, and sister Kristi all race—as does her fiancée—the reigning NHRA Pro Stock champion, Bo Butner. Even her mom Jackie is a huge supporter.
In more than two decades of competition, Randi Lyn has wheeled cars in Jr. Dragster, local Brackets, along with NHRA Super Comp and Super Street. These days, the Hoosier is a regular on the NHRA Mello Yello national event tour, where she’s scored four event victories in Stock Eliminator. By day, Randi Lyn works at the family business, Jim Butner Auto Sales, but at the track she’s focused on running her Stocker, serving as a crew member on the Pro Stock team, and growing their apparel company, Nitro Fish Racing.
“My dad was always into cars and drag racing,” she told us. “He’s friends with Pro Mod racer Billy Glidden, and many years ago he went with Billy’s father, legendary racer Bob Glidden, to Gainesville Raceway for the Gatornationals. That was all it took for him to get heavily involved in drag racing,” she explained. “We’re from a small town outside of Indianapolis, and every car guy knows each other. I was like 7 at the time and there was a raffle for a Jr. Dragster. The guy who won didn’t have kids so my dad bought it from him. He didn’t expect me to do well with it, but I won my third race. After that my dad was thinking ‘she could really be good’ and it turned into a whole childhood of racing.
“When I turned 16 I got a Super Comp dragster and I won a national open at Indy, which is my home track, but my dad was more into full-bodied door cars, so he bought a 1969 Camaro for us to race. We brought it home in boxes and built it for NHRA Super Street, which is on a 10.90 index. At the time my dad and brother raced in Super Street so that made it a lot of fun.”
The ’69 Camaro brought Randi Lyn a win at Summit Motorsports Park in 2009, but what made that race extra special was her final-round opponent. “That weekend I ended up racing my brother for the trophy,” she said. “It was really exciting and kind of careless since we were both in the final. It was as far as you can go, so we were both cheering for each other. If he beat me I would have been just as excited for him.”
Looking to move from Super Street to Stock Eliminator, Randi Lyn and Bo found a clean ’67 Firebird that was already in race trim. “I was 21 when we bought it and I was not at all about the Firebird,” she admitted. “I was a ’69 Camaro girl, but now I’m a certified Pontiac maniac,” she said with her trademark smile. “Bo knew I’d love my Pontiac even before I did. He is supportive and keeps my car going week after week. I couldn’t own and race a car like this without him. People love the car and fans always come up and share Firebird history with me. It’s really special because it took me to my first national event win.”
The Bird was purchased from fellow racer Tony DeFrank, but before hitting the track it went through an extensive restoration and rebuild. John Howard handled the rust and metal repair and he sprayed the Pontiac in Axalta Herr’s Potato Chip White. And since the F-Body was originally equipped with a 285 horsepower 326 H.O. engine, they kept the factory H.O. stripe.
Underneath, the front subframe was cleaned, painted, and reinstalled with a complete quarter-mile suspension consisting of Santhuff springs and shocks. The rear consists of Calvert Racing Suspension CalTracs and Santhuff shocks. With the ’bird rolling, all new wiring was laid in along with the 400-cube Poncho mill, GM Metric automatic, and a 12-bolt rear. Inside, Randi Lyn set up her office with a Sparco wheel, Turbo Action shifter, a VDO tach, and she added a cup holder because, as she stated, “the new Cobra Jet Mustangs have a cup holder and I was jealous.
“Once I got it repainted it looked so good that I left the stickers off the car. It stings when you win without the stickers because you miss out on contingency money, but I’ve come to terms with it because it looks so good. I love muscle cars and the factory look,” she added.
Stock Eliminator is one of the longest-standing classes in the sport and winning is ultra tough. Success requires a car that runs well under the Class index, and drivers must be prepared for both bracket and heads-up competition.
With four NHRA national event wins, Randi Lyn has proven herself as a driver, and her team, including fiancée Bo, Darrel Herron, Greg Esarey, and her entire family have made the Firebird a real flyer. Running at 3,210 lbs. (with driver) in D/SA (11.55 index), the Pontiac has run 10.40 at 124 mph. And when set up lighter for C/SA, it’s run a best of 10.31 at over 125 mph.
Randi Lyn told us she loves every part of the sport including the car prep, the racing, and most importantly the people. In addition to competing in Stock and Pro Stock, they’ve ventured into the world of No Prep outlaw style racing along with NMRA and NMCA action.
But for Randi Lyn, nothing compares to going wheels-up in the Firebird. On a typical pass, she does a burnout, stages, and brings the engine to 3,600 rpm before cutting it loose. The F-body leaves like a “rocket” hiking the hoops sky high en route to 1.28 60-foot times. Amazingly, the Poncho sings to 6,800 before she clicks the gears, and it buzzes across the stripe where no Pontiac should go—revving to 7,800-8,000 rpm! “It’s a lot,” she says, “but it stays together and it’s so much fun to drive.” And by the looks of those monster wheelies, we’d agree. Randi Lyn’s Pontiac chariot is mighty quick and one she’ll ride to victory many more times.
Tech Notes:
Who: Randi Lyn Shipp
Where: Floyds Knobs, IN, but she can be found wherever there’s an NHRA national event
What: 1967 Pontiac Firebird
Engine: Randi Lyn’s Bird was originally equipped with a 326 H.O. engine developing 285 hp, but these days it makes much more power. To fit in D/SA, Randi Lyn chose the 400-cube engine combination, rated by Pontiac at 325 hp and factored to 338 hp by NHRA. It’s meticulously prepared to take full advantage of the Stock Eliminator guidelines and produces north of 500 hp.
Stock rules require the factory carburetor, intake manifold and cylinder heads (with correct casting numbers and no porting), along with stock valves and combustion chamber sizes. Her short-block consists of a factory block and crank with a 4.125×3.750-inch bore and stroke along with Crower rods, CP pistons with Total-Seal rings, a Melling oil pump, and a pan from Stef’s Fabrication.
The D-Port heads feature 65cc closed chambers fitted with 2.11-/1.77-inch valves that are activated by a 0.424-inch lift camshaft. There are no rules dictating duration or overlap, so special attention was paid to the cam to maximize breathing at high rpm. The 400 also uses PSI valve springs, Cometic head gaskets; fire in the hole comes from a MSD Digital 7 ignition with Denso plugs.
A Weldon pump feeds a strict diet of high-octane race fuel to the 750 Q-Jet that was set up by Jason Line and Danny Ashley. Expelling the burnt gasses are stainless headers, bent and TIG welded by Mark Lelchook of Performance Welding. Other essentials are the Butler Performance valve covers, Meziere water pump, and C&R Racing radiator and electric fan.
Transmission/Rearend: The torquey mill sends its power through a Coan Engineering converter and a GM Metric 200 three-speed automatic prepared by ReMax Transmissions. A Turbo 400 would be stronger, but the Metric is lighter and quicker on track. Converter stall is roughly 3,500 rpm.
Chassis/Suspension: Stock Eliminator rules are very specific about what’s legal and what’s not. Bolt-in aftermarket suspension is okay, as long as it mounts in the stock location. The Firebird has a roll bar and frame connectors for safety and chassis stiffening. Its suspension consists of CalTracs leaf springs and traction bars from Calvert Racing Suspensions and adjustable Santhuff shocks for control. Up front you’ll find Santhuff springs and shocks that allow the nose to snap into action.
Brakes: Lightweight Lamb 11-inch manual disc brakes are used to reduce parasitic drag and haul the Poncho from buck-and-a-quarter speeds. The team has employed a dual caliper setup on the rear to more solidly hold the car when she “torque brakes” on the starting line.
Wheels/Tires: Traction and reduced weight is the name of the game for drag racing. Randi Lyn fitted her Bird with lightweight Pro 5 wheels from Mickey Thompson (15×4- and 15-10-inch), along with 9×30-inch radial slicks and short 25-inch tall skinnies from M/T. The short front tires are used to help dial in her reaction time.
Interior: The classic look of the ’67 Firebird interior has been retained, save for the necessary racing items. There’s a roll bar and harness for safety, and Dick Jones from KB Racing wired the F-body, adding a switch panel to simplify the electrical system. Randi Lyn relies on a Turbo Action Cheetah shifter that she clicks when the VDO tach reaches 6,800 rpm. Those rectangular black panels you see are used to “block” the first two amber lights on the tree. That allows Randi Lyn to focus 100-percent on the last amber, without distraction from the tree coming down. This is done to prevent her from anticipating the last amber. You’ll also note the Sparco wheel, Auto-Meter gauges on the cowl, and that blue cup holder.
Multimedia: Randi Lyn spends her time at Jim Butner Auto Sales (jimbutnerauto.com) and Nitro Fish Racing (nitrofish.com). You can follow Randi Lyn on Instagram at @rockitt_shipp and her YouTube channel is “Randi Shipp.”

The 2017 York Nostalgia Weekend Honors the Drag Racing Stars and Cars of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s
For fans of East Coast racing history, the second weekend of July has been the best time to come to the hills of central Pennsylvania, as the combined York Nostalgia show and accompanying York US30 Nostalgia Nationals takes place, honoring the heritage of the stars and cars from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The pair of shows has been a dedicated celebration of speed for 12 years now. Indeed, this year featured a TV crew from France as well as local news organizations, with nonstop activity from the opening on Friday through the last pass down the 1,320 on Sunday evening.
The show portion is held at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, located on the Latimer Valley Fairgrounds 20 miles north of Gettysburg. Promoted by longtime NHRA Division Director Darwin Doll; his wife, Pat; and a crew of volunteers, York Nostalgia was created to honor the racing heritage of the now-defunct track/airport near the city of York. York US30 Dragway operated from 1959-1979 and was the location of several major races. With a large number of automotive enthusiasts based in the surrounding states, the show moved to the museum location two years ago and is again growing.
Among the special activities are the Legion of Honor ceremonies on Friday, where gasser pilot Gene Altizer, longtime NHRA racer Al Brown, and photographer (and Deluxe contributor) Bob McClurg were among the 2017 inductees. This was also titled Dave Strickler Day, with a special afternoon discussion among his noted associates and family. George Curetan’s newly completed Tokyo Rose sedan delivery was there, as was George and other racers.
Saturday saw a large turnout for the annual car show, which Doll calls “Cruising Into Summer.” More than 100 cars came from around the region to participate. Meanwhile, there were other cars invited to display all around the museum grounds, a swap meet, ongoing seminar programs, gatherings for group photos, and more. The Best of Show award this year went to a gorgeous ’59 Chevrolet Apache pickup owned by Carl Lynes, whose appearance summed up the event quite well. The grand finale was a Cackling Thunder fire-up session before people packed up for the next day.
By then, action was already under way 90 miles north, where Bob and Donna Marie McCardle hosted racers, fans, and even campers at the Beaver Springs Dragway. The wide, grassy aprons; quaint tower; and personal hospitality make this perhaps the ultimate nostalgia racing facility. Though they run a selection of eliminators on Saturday, the big day is Sunday, the annual York US30 Nostalgia Nationals. This year had eight classes of racing plus a select group of exhibition cars. No body style later than 1972 is allowed to run, no whining permitted, and leave your delay box at home. It is old school all the way, including a qualifying session that is flag-started. The track had its own Legends of Drag Racing program, then more than 200 cars made the first round call, including more than three dozen Nostalgia Super Stockers and several grouped exhibition racers like the Ohio Gassers and Pure Vintage Drags.
What always makes the weekend special is the people: friends seen year after year, racers who tow in from far away just to enjoy the scene, and a solidarity with the past. Why is this a great event? Think back on the heroes of racing, the colorful cars they ran, and the less-stressful era they existed in. The clock turns back for one weekend each year for those memories and new ones, and you can look forward to more of them.
First Time: The era of Junior Stock roared to life as Junior Stock racers George Curetan and Wayne Jesel raced each other for the first time in history. Neither could recall a time they had met in eliminations back in the day, and they always ran cars in different classes. Curetan had not lost his touch and was off the line first in the faster car to take it. Jesel later raced the Daddy Warbucks Falcon and won with a 7-second handicap.
Junior Stock Heroes: The men joked before the impromptu race at Beaver Springs on Sunday morning. Curetan (left) won the 1967 NHRA World Championship at Tulsa, and his tribute Tokyo Rose sedan delivery came in courtesy Mike and Connie Szczepanski of Winona, Minnesota. Jesel’s tribute was completed about three years ago, but this was his first time driving it on the track in a race environment. These kinds of reunions have helped establish the weekend’s legacy for fans.
Best of Show: Carl Lynes’ beautifully restored ’59 Chevy Apache pickup was the victor in the Saturday Cruising Into Summer car show, as the wonderfully refinished truck won Best of Show honors. While some might want to make it a little bigger and badder, it would be a perfect evening driver to the ice cream store just as it is.
Dave’s Day: Here is the Larry Brinkley-owned ’62 409 Impala with Ammon R. Smith and Jenkins Competition lettering. Its driver, the late Dave Strickler, was honored with a Dave Strickler Day this year, which included friends recounting his career with much of his family present. A number of them talked about the FX days at York, when Strickler was willing to spot cars a half-track length and still row through the gears to beat them.
Big John Tribute: Rocky Pirrone’s Big John Mazmanian race-ready Willys tribute was placed in the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing drag racing hall for display. The EMMR uses the wall behind it for sponsorship bricks, which had been widely supported by fans of all types of motorsports. There were many other notable cars on display both here and down in the show field area.
Flamed Ford: Dan Mentzell Jr.’s Tudor wasn’t the fastest car in its class, but Dan enjoyed a great weekend of racing it. The track runs quarter-mile for most classes during this event, and several quicker cars had to play catch-up with him during qualifying and racing. They had nothing on him for style points, however. The ’30 Model A has a 350ci Chevy engine and TH350 transmission with 3.25 gears in a 9-inch Ford rearend.
Winning Bucket: Meanwhile, the 2017 winner in Comp was this hot little yellow T-bucket called the Hilltown Shaker and raced by Josh Nevells, who is a regular at the event. He ran consistent times with his small-block Chevrolet combo, with just enough wheel-lift to make it interesting.
Surprise: You never know what will turn up on Sunday, which included exhibition cars and eight race classes. This Cheetah was a surprise, as the originals are rare and pricey, and few people even remember them today. Modified Production is a simple breakdown: A/MP for pre-’66 cars, B/MP for ’66-’72, and run your dial-in. A faster Comp class, two NETO groups, the East Coast gassers, Nostalgia Super Stock, and Junior Stock round it out.
Honored: Among the inductees to the Legion of Honor in 2017 was the late Al Brown, who attended and raced at the NHRA Nationals for more than 40 years. His son Tom, now a chaplain for Racers for Christ, gave a moving eulogy on the family of racers. The Legion adds new members each year, and those accolades are held in perpetual honor at the EMMR facility.
Chevy Deuce: One of the nicest period-style rods was the ’32 Chevy coupe of Podunk, Pennsylvania’s Tony Barone. Featuring a great small-block engine with the correct vintage parts and a circa-’60 scalloped paint job, the car took the top place in the Special Interest category on Saturday during the cruise-in.
Ramp Up: No award was given for the largest displayed vehicle in the show on Saturday, but Earl Metzler’s ’54 1-1/2-ton truck with its primered ’41 Willy coupe on the back ramp would have been a shoe-in. The Cruising Into Summer event featured a lot of variety this year, with an even divide between rods and muscle.
In Training: Longtime racer Mickey Hale and his football-type Austin run on the Ohio Gasser match-race circuit. Showing there is still a place for younger people in racing, his crew here included a back-up girl in training. These cars put on an amazing show with long burnouts and sometimes-violent wheelstands, while keeping the distance to 1/8-mile to maintain parts longevity.
Willys Wheelie: Once again, Mike Etchberger and his Willys gasser were stars of the wheelstanding effort, though this one would end up maxing out the suspension travel and making for a short day during round one. However, every camera in the place was focused on him each time the black primered coupe came into the water box. Go big or go home; this one goes big…
Legends: Comp racer Larry Lombardo (left), best known for driving for Bill Jenkins later in Pro Stock, recalled that his first-ever paying match race was for $20 offered by Bob McCardle the year the track opened. He took the opportunity during BSD’s Legends of Drag Racing ceremony to give the money back to Bob in appreciation, and to the cheers of the crowd.
Still Active: For a track that closed almost 30 years ago, memories and commitment remain strong. These are the former York US30 employees gathered for a photo. As can be seen from their yellow shirts, several remain active helping with the annual reunion. Darwin and Pat Doll are on the left.
Big Tent: Without the large buildings (and overhead) from the York Fairgrounds, this large tent was erected for the invited cars. It holds approximately 20 vehicles. Other cars were displayed in pavilions nearby, with a select few in the museum itself on an adjacent ridgeline.
Fired Up: For a grand finale as the show closed late Saturday afternoon, several nitro cars were fired up. A crowd gathered as Bob Bilbow warmed up the Lynwood Engineering dragster, complete with weed-burner headers and a lopey, period-type camshaft. The York events tend to gather East Coast cars, and Lynwood built cars for a number of big names in those early years of the sport “back east.”
Treasure: We do not have a clue what this poster from the late Teens/early Twenties might be worth. Barney Oldfield and his legendary Golden Submarine circle track car traveled by rail to locations nationwide for match races on fairgrounds dirt tracks like the one now restored at Latimer Valley. The EMMR museum is filled with treasures like this, and well worth a careful walk through to see it all.
Ohio George: George Montgomery made the trek up to the dragstrip on Sunday and was seated on the starting line for a quick interview. Noteworthy for his many accomplishments, the Dayton, Ohio, racer has had a well-rounded career, with drag racing titles and later management of the entire engine business for the former Indy Lights open wheel series.
Flatheads on Fuel: The Pure Vintage Racing group runs a self-contained bracket that consists of vintage, all-steel Ford-bodied or -powered cars. Running period-original speed equipment and older high-wheel Indy car tires, these cars harken back to the very earliest days of the hobby. Make the best of your paint skills, buy the pieces you need to look good and go faster, and bring it. An eighth-mile course keeps it safe, even for those flatheads on fuel. The cars run drags, salt, beach front, and more. Seven were on hand this year.
Flag Man: A tradition of the event is the flag starting of round two of Nostalgia Super Stock, handled by “Spry George” Nye, the former flag starter at York before the advent of the Christmas tree, and later its best-known announcer. Today he conducts guided bus tours at the Hershey facility near Harrisburg. On Sunday, he was playing “tuck in tight” as a combined 800-plus horsepower passed on either side.
All-409 Final: When the smoke had cleared, for the first time in the 12-year history of the race, a pair of 409 Chevys had hammered all the Fords and Mopars into oblivion before the final. Bob Conway won the race in his New Jersey-based 1963 model with runs in the 11-second zone, besting a field of almost four dozen cars that made the round one NSS call. McCardle also ran special 409, FE Ford and Hemi-only programs on Saturday for racers who wanted two days of action, as well several other classes that ran again on Sunday.
See You Next Year: Waving them off in the tradition of the region’s sprint car heritage, the mascot of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing beckons fans to come and see the show during summer weekends. Located off of Route 15 approximately 20 miles north of Gettysburg, the museum is scheduled to play host to York Nostalgia again in 2018.
