I think the circle is a great conceit for a show because it really shows that there are a lot of men out there who believe that things would be Much easier for them if they were able to present themselves as "hot blonde woman" and it's very satisfying for them to quickly discover, oh they are all ganging up on Hot Blonde Woman, oh everyone in the chat is making enemies and tearing down this girl, oh I have Immediately become a target
And I do think that this belief that they will have a easier time becoming popular if they look like Woman Character is coming from how we see women doing better in dating apps and social media. But these specific guys seem unable to register that women can perform better in these spaces because they know how to Present themselves. They know how to build the profile, construct the narrative and talk about themselves (a symptom of growing up being constantly critiqued and looked at).
So like is Hot Blonde Woman character more likely to do better on social media, yes perhaps, but it's because they've become very good at creating this identity and know what audience they're targeting, it is not as these men discover much to their chagrin, because they are just inherently hot and it falls into their lap
do you guys ever think about how after meeting Valentine, Stephen burned all his things & started dressing just like Valentine. and how Clary describes Jace's room as neat and tidy and empty like it belongs to a monk & not a teenage boy, just like Valentine. because by being Valentine's son, Jace is Stephen's
What are these wars about, who are the opposing sides, and why is the MC involved?
In order to understand the main thing that caused both the first war (that took place around 5-6 years prior to the game) and the current one, I have to do a little bit more worldbuilding.
I'll try to put it simply because it will be explained in the game but essentially both wars boil down to the usage of the "Salus Cores".
These are big crystals connected to the "Salus Sigils" (magical tattoos) that every Magus has to get. The "Salus Sigils" then puts a limit on the amount of Magicae a person can use. They were basically created to make sure that no Magus could just go on a rampage one day and like create a massive flood or mind-control people into starting a war or something along those lines.
That leads us to the Soarers. They believe that since magicae was a resource they were born with, it is wrong to try and limit it. Their goal is to have the "Salus Cores" destroyed in order to "restore" what they believe is rightfully theirs.
The Circle of Ambrose (AKA The Circle) is the group that wants to stop this from happening. They think that all Magus having unlimited access to their magicae is too dangerous and will end up leaking over to the Debilis (non-magic users) world and will just cause general chaos.
The MC ended up being involved (basically right after they graduated) because the leader of the Circle asked them to. They (the leader) both respected MC's abilities but also thought that their condition would be a good example for why people having unlimited magicae would be bad.
