whenever i watch /that/ episode of carrillo, i always feel like a grieving widow afterwards. an emptiness in my heart
Ugh tell me about it.
However, for me personally, I always fall for characters who won’t make it till the end. ALWAYS. It’s like my superpower almost. The actors playing those characters will never receive the scripts of the final episodes, I’m sorry.
So I really can’t say that spectacular end of his surprised me. Because, well, I am used to it. After tons of heart-breaking experiences, I am invincible now.
Especially taking into consideration that the character is a fictional one and the colonel who actually helped to catch Escobar is Martínez.
Having said all these, yes anon I feel you. My heart still aches. When you love a fictional character so much and want the best for him but in the end his fate and life story are still totally up to the creators.
All the heroes died a hero.
And I absolutely love his way of saying the last words ‘cobarde’, oh god that was unreasonably and strangely and incredibly hot. In pain but still stubborn and proud as hell.
Oops sorry for the babbling... I just love him OKAY😭

I am the greatest, I am brilliant, I am IMMORTAL.
One of the greatest MMO moments I've ever had. It is a HUGE long tale of a 3 hour and 30 minute Strike Force that ended with the Arch-villain dying 4 minutes before the servers reset.
So...
I was a level 22 Tanker. Joined a group for the Silver Mantis Task Force.
On our way to the first mission, someone drops the group.  We zone in. We've adjusted down to level 22, and all the enemies are level 27. So... that's inauspicious.  Someone else dies on the first pull, and leaves. Whatever, we're now down to 6 people. We have... damage issues, stuff dies pretty slow, but I am FUNCTIONALLY IMMORTAL so we progress.
The second map comes up, with Sky Raiders invading a Freaks base in a building.  We have to plant some bombs then fight the Freaks boss, but... I am not sure if it is some Ambushes or some triggered war, but we get caught in a big hallway where Freaks spawn at one end, and Sky Raiders spawn at the other.  Packs of them. And like I said, we have damage issues.  We clear them all out, a Freak guy pops back up from his self rez, and then... more sky raiders spawn, and more freaks spawn. We keep fighting. And more spawn. And I eventually got pinned against a wall by so many enemies I couldn't even see the fight anymore.
I don't know what happened, but our Stalker slips out, runs downstairs, and starts teleporting people out, with me being fished out last. We fight the ones who chase us downstairs at the entrance.
Whatever happened, we clear that mission. We do the next mission which is one of those terrible Council Caves maps with the huge blue pool room. Just a miserable time. Yucky.  We get to our 5th mission out of 6. Our 2 hour timer expires. We're slogging through Crey stuff. But we keep on. Stalker goes AFK. We have even more damage issues...
We're on this last mission.
The server says it will be restarting in about an hour.
This last mission is a series of shipping vessels surrounding a huge, multilevel ocean platform.  The platform is covered in AA guns and wall mounted ball turrets.  You have to destroy the defenses to make the boss spawn.  There are tons of jetpack Skyraiders floating around it.
There is a prolonged segment where you travel through the interior of a ship first, and there's lots of enemies in the hold. Our blaster group teleports us to round folks up, but... it glitches out or something and teleports us outside to the next part of the map. We passed by the entire tanker section. Good! Lucky us!
So we start to clear and scale the oil platform. We have a Ninja Mastermind whose ninjas bounce all around, and aggro everything. She is incredibly fragile and eats dirt if stuff glances at her - and the turrets are hard to hold aggro on with incredibly huge range.  Likewise, someone has freezing rain also tagging stuff from layers above of the platform.  People are dying a lot. We don't have a real support healing or protecting people.  It's okay, I am Immortal. As we climb, people die - people ran out of awakens many missions ago and even after restocking are still running out. They cannot run back into the mission from the hospital, because we did not clear the tanker where you zone in.
There are several fights at this point where I am the only person alive. I am tanking four or five skyraiders, hovering at 30% life but kept aloft by my regen. I do very little damage so I can't really kill some of these guys until people get back up. The server restarts in 30 minutes. People talk about giving up again, maybe trying again tomorrow or something. The Mastermind and Blaster cannot get back into the zone.
We can do it though, I swear we can do it. I run back into the tanker, to the entrance. There are four huge groups of skyraiders chasing me because we never cleared them. The blaster and mastermind zone back in, and I taunt and LoS the groups of skyraiders until they can get back in to the Oil Platform section of the mission.
We reach the end part - the top part of the platform is a huge deck with two turret blocks that are cubes with two ball turrets on each side. The top deck itself has 6 spots jutting outward with two Big Guns on either.  With the ninjas aggroing lots of stuff, and having no real healing, we are constantly exposed to a lot of damage. People are ducking down to the lower decks to LoS the turrets when they get low, I'm tanking as much turretfire as I can. It's slow going, but we're doing it. Twenty minutes to server restart.

I am a bad artist but the red lines are turrets. The grey cubes are little things jutting out of the deck for the ball turrets to sit on - but other than that, there is no cover. It is wide open and turrets are shooting everyone. There's also tons of Sky Raiders around.
People get sloppy and mess up, everyone is dying. But the scrapper!! The scrapper comes back from being AFK. He teleports through the instance. And now it is him and I clearing turrets. Everyone else is dead - some people have awakens but can't get clear of the turrets to use them. I am immortal. I am tanking like 8 skyraiders. We are working as fast as we can. We clear enough turrets to get people clear to use their Awakens to get back up.
Ten minutes to server reset.
The arch-villain spawns when we clear enough turrets - we don't know how many, there is no indicator, we are still hitting turrets when he appears with his guards.

This guy, Colonel Duray of the Sky Raiders.
I'm low from the cannon fire. I have no inspirations except endurance restoration. I am trying to taunt him, but the guards kill the squishy people. Even our returned Stalker goes down. It's over. It's done. People respawn at the hospital, but they can't get back in because we can't get through the tanker segment at the start of the mission map.
I jump off the side of the oil platform, into the ocean.  The boss follows me. I enter the door to go belowdecks of that tanker, the boss follows me.  It's over, but we've been trying this for over 3 hours, I'm doing anything.
The Stalker has an awaken. He respawns. He starts summoning people back up to the top of the Oil Platform.  I kite the boss around inside the tanker. I leave the tanker. The boss follows me out.
Everyone jumps off the oil platform into the ocean (there are still turrets up top). I come out of the tanker ship and the boss is still chasing me.
We fight him in the ocean. I am literally shoving blue endurance inspirations into the inventories of the blaster and our spider guy. Just kill him, kill him fast!  I am immortal! The server will restart any moment.

Five minutes later, the server goes down
This is the most fun I have had in an MMO in probably over a decade. I feel like a tiny child and I'm so excited. It was grueling - I had to try every coaching and rallying thing I could to keep people moving forward, spirits up. The sun has come up, and I need to sleep but. Aaaaaaaaa! It was so exciting. I am the immortal, iron Twelfth Street Tiger
