Just finished the first episodes of the Crown's last season and it's safe to say that a more vulgar shitshow never saw the sight of the screen. Everything, from the treatment of Diana into this constant victim, to the villainization of the Al-Fayed family (as if Mohammed would give two fucks about anything else than justice for his only boy), without forgetting Charles' whitewashing, is absolutely vulgar in every way. Representing the only Arab characters of your show like literal fame-diggers in order to make the royal family appear more "dignified" is honestly borderline racist.
It's amazing to me how those writers take such a distorted version of the truth and treat Diana and Dodi, and even Mohammed Al-Fayed, DEAD PEOPLE, like pawns in their romanticization of the royal family. I mean, Diana appearing as a ghost to Charles to absolve him of literaly destroying years of her life ? Really ? The first seasons of the show got us used to better quality and better respect of the complexity of these characters. This is just becoming a cheesy and biased documentary instead of being the nuanced portrait of one of the most complex institutions in the world. What a disappointment. The whole thing is barely saved by the exceptional performances of all of these actors, but even they deserves better than this fanfiction writing.

Watching screeners of the new season of The Crown, I must say that I chuckle when people throw fits about the comparisons between Princess Diana and Meghan because time and her death have caused them to forget that Diana was slammed in much the same way. But some of us actually remember.
"Diana never tried to destroy the monarchy," they say, but that's exactly what she was accused of. And more, she was painted as manipulating the press to make herself look good and the royal family look bad, difficult to work for, a liar, etc... It all feels familiar.

Michelle Dockery and Jasper Waller-Bridge are newlyweds!
The ceremony took place at St Nicholas' church in Chiswick, West London, on Saturday, Sept. 23, with Michelle wearing a stunning dropped waist wedding dress by Emilia Wickstead with a long train and a veil pinned at the back of her wavy hair. [...]
The groom's sister [Phoebe Waller-Bridge] donned a bright pink three-piece suit and elegant hat, with Phoebe's longtime partner, screenwriter and director Martin McDonagh.
Michelle and Jasper's wedding served as a mini Downton Abbey reunion, with cast members Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael [one of the bridesmaids], Lily James, Lesley Nicol, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, Elizabeth McGovern, Imelda Staunton, Allen Leech, [Michael Fox], and likely more there. Julian Fellowes, the creator and producer of Downton Abbey, was also in attendance.
Since the end of the TV show in 2016, there have been two feature films, one released in 2019, while the sequel came out in May 2022.
The Crown's Lesley Manville, former The Good Doctor actress Antonia Thomas, and more famous faces were also at the star-studded wedding. (People)
