Au where Nerdanel went along to middle earth with her sons because she knew that theyre gonna fuck it up? What if she got some insane prophecy from one of the Valar saying that terrible things are going to happen to her sons and torn between love and worry for her sons she decided to journey with them?
Nerdanel is the only one except Feanor her sons would listen to. At Alqualonde, she would have tried to stop them and it even might have worked.
They would have never even gone to middle earth because her sons would never not listen to her (like they do with their father. Always listen to your parents, they are always right, don't even question it, honour them, what do you mean my father is in the wrong your father is in the wrong).
And even if she didn't get to stop them at Alqualonde (too much screaming, it was all too fast, she never would have guessed, she is so so confused, what are they doing, they are her baby children she sung to sleep, is that blood?)
,she had a deep friendship with Indis. She would have never let them burn the ships. Together with Maedhros, she could maybe have convinced Feanor not to burn the ships (for what? To spite Fingolfin? Feanaro, are you crazy?) or at least spare enough time in fighting for all the people who still were on board the ships (Amrod) to go on land safely. Imagine the drama, the constant fighting between Feanor and Nerdanel, Nerdanel regretting every decision to ever rely on a stupid prophecy (this is stupid, what great harm could her boys ever cause?) and still protecting her sons (from themselves) (from corruption), Feanor wishing she would have never tagged along (she is ruining everything, Fingolfin should have never followed him anyway, what are you talking about he is the problem he follows me everywhere, I dont care about his son why do you)

OOF you can see on this last page here that Kohane doesn’t get any joy from this, even though she deserves to. This pains her even as she has to do it. And in the final panel we watch as the mother herself vanishes from the frame - the crowd have consumed her and she is nothing but an empty space as the only thing she actually cared about crumbles away to nothing.
I’m LIVING for this
(Though, also, how vapid and empty the words of the surrounding characters are. They were just as happy to tear HER apart moments ago, but now that there’s a new target they’re suddenly on her side. Their sympathy means nothing, and Kohane knows this too)
And like, while the mother deserves to have such attention brought to her actions, once again the rumour mill surges to life and creates its own narrative based on whatever they want to believe in the moment, and the television crew not only encourage it but THRIVE off the drama.
OOP Ok now even I can relate. Kohane tells the truth again, that the mother never touches her, and again the crowd is horrified.
BIG L for the guy who says “this might even count as child abuse!”. “MIGHT”.
I will run him over myself.
And then the mother herself runs on to profess that she definitely absolutely cares for her by *checks notes* doing the legal minimum.

I’ll do a little spring cleaning around this blog tomorrow now that I’m feeling more mentally alive. It’s a little claustrophobic as far as blogs go (and as much as I’d like to I can’t really just move to a new blog to start fresh haha), and I’m starting to feel pressure around it so I need to fix it.
A lot of people I had stories going with have moved to greener pastures, and a lot of new friends have popped up to form new stories with. So I would like to clean out my thread tracker and make use of it.
So here’s a checklist for myself :
Make new tags for connections and stories
Refresh my tags
Redo my rules page bc I can’t be bothered with trying to conform I don’t haaaave rules…
Put the threads in the thread tracker
Nap
Do some asks

It has always bothered me that we don't get to know very much about Milligan's secret agent work. I mean, I know that the series is about the kids, but I have so many questions!
Like, how did he get reinstated? Did they have to perform psych evals and talk to Mr. Benedict and everything once his memory came back, or did he just show up at the office to see how things were going and they all went "Oh, thank goodness Wetherall is back after dropping off the map for nearly ten years. We've been falling apart without you, please help"

Five things that would have made “The Mysterious Benedict Society” on Disney+ objectively better:
Curtain and Reynie eat manipulation spaghetti instead of manipulation salad
The society uses Italian to communicate in secret instead of Morse Code
During Curtain’s dance in season 2, he dances to “Bella Ciao”
The Institute colours are the beautiful white, red, and green of the Italian flag
Curtain and Nicholas have rival pizzerias and the season finale is a cook off between the brothers. Curtain tries to cheat by using his pizza to hypnotize the judges to get revenge for the family pizza recipe Nicholas stole from him all those years ago. The recipe was the only thing they had left of their birth family, and Nicholas took it with him when he got adopted and used it to build the pizzeria the twins once dreamed of starting together. In retaliation, Curtain started his own evil pizza cult.
