So, in the magazine, the description for this photo is,

The master is restrained in The power of the Doctor...but by whom?

And it also said in another part of the magazine,

"He has unfinished business." (Patrick O'Kane talking about his character Ashad in tpotd.) "Not only with the job in hand, but also with the Master." Probably because he the Master tricked him into giving him the cyberium and then shot him with his tissue compression thingy.

And this got me thinking, what if Ashad got unit, of atleast the officers that are holding the Master in the photo, on his side, and convinced them to capture the Master. So the answer to the question, The master is restrained in The power of the Doctor...but by whom?

IMO, is Ashad. I mean, I could be wrong, but it's just a theory. Tell me what yous think.

obsessed with how much of the master’s plan was just. for the drama like. the paintings??? literally just for 30 seconds to catch her attention even though she’d ALREADY figured out he was in 1916. being literal RASPUTIN???? same. only for the vibes. he could have been any historical figure or like. not a historical figure at all he just wanted a nice backdrop for his plan and only the winter palace would do apparently. also for the music obviously but still. one can listen to rasputin without being rasputin. the seismologists? no way the daleks actually needed them to figure out their tech, the master just wanted to become 12 give a geology lecture. all of it just. for the vibes. good for him.

the way the doctor has never heard of the cyberium before and the master is like “oh yeah ive heard a lot about that over the years” is there any more concise illustration of their different ways of engaging with the universe. oh a thing for strategy? long term planning? the doctor has never heard of it. the doctor is walking through the woods looking at each tree they pass individually, putting out small fires, petting squirrels, they run into the master and are like what a surprise to find you here and the master is like well. it’s a forest. you like those. im following the path. found you sort of where expected really. and the doctor is like the what sorry? and the master is like .....the path? and the doctor is like no the other thing what did you say? and the master is like ..............................the forest?? and the doctor is like you mean these trees???? and the master is like ..............no my darling detested i do not. mean the trees.

So I'm an RTD girlie who gave up on doctor who somewhere in the moffat era before chibnall even took over and so I've missed all of thirteen's tenure. I don't have it in me to watch all of her seasons at this moment in time but I LOVE Jodie and your gifs look so compelling.

Would you be able to recommend your top 5 episodes with 13 or something so I can rectify the error of my ways, at least a little bit?

The Woman Who Fell to Earth

It Takes You Away

Spyfall pts 1 & 2

The Haunting of Villa Diodati

And probably Fugitive of the Judoon and The Timeless Children just because those are very important series lore episodes that are important to watch even if you very much disagree with most of the choices that Chibnall made

Also probably The Power of the Doctor so you can watch Thirteen's full regeneration episode (and Jacob Anderson <3)

#questionbell #anonymous #i will also admit this openly: the gifs I'm reblogging look compelling because I'm very selectively cherry picking #the best part of each episode to amplify #i love jodie and i love thirteen so much but god are some of her episodes dull #chibnall had no idea what to do with her and the companions offer absolutely nothing #and i mean it. i do say this with love but jodie/thirteen could've been INCREDIBLE if she'd had anything good to work with #which is why she shines when she's up against sacha as the master #he gives her something to bounce off and play with whereas yaz just gawks at her like a bug under a microscope #but i do think the biggest issue is that there are just too many characters in each episode #villa diodati has like 10 characters in it which is far too many to successfully do anything with #because you can't further yaz's storyline while also making us care about shelley and the lone cyberman and the cyberium all in 50 minutes #and that's where i think the chib era suffered the most #it tried to do too much and in doing so accomplished nothing at all #anyway i do genuinely like these few episodes so you should very much check them out and form your own opinion #just don't watch rosa or orphan 55

Showing the cyberman regenerate was actually a wonderful piece of writing because it single-handedly allowed the audience to understand, right then and there, that there was no longer a different solution to blowing up the whole planet. Because there literally couldn't be another way to make sure the Master doesn't leave and massacre every single living organism in the universe. That one moment made it so clear to the point where there's no discussion to be had. No weighing the options. Because there's literally only one option.

Letting him go definitely isn't an option either, not for the moral obligation, but there'd almost be nothing to return to if he were allowed to roam free. There's no capturing or otherwise disabling him from leaving, because he's not alone, but rather surrounded by an army of abominations.

And it's instantly so vivid that it isn't necessary to even run all these non-options in your head. Because you know.

And I don't think Chibnall gets the credit for it. The execution might be questionable, but the writing move itself? Genius

I was thinking about TTC and how really every timelord could be considered a hybrid in a way, so it's kind of ironic that Gallifrey was ultimately destroyed by a timelord. And ohhh God. Oh god, I am sick just thinking about it...

The thing the timelords feared the most was their own creation, and the foundation of their very existence. It's just so perfectly poetic

With the Centenary Special coming up, I do have to unleash my hopes into the universe. I don't have any expectations for this episode. Not because I automatically think it's going to be bad, but because I'm simply waiting to see what happens, without thinking too much about it. I haven't looked at any promo materials, if any have even come out by now. But one thing, just one thing that I can't let go of, is the Cyberium.

I just want it to be important to the story. I don't really know how, as I also don't know what exactly it does. But I just... I'm going to go insane if they just forget about it or shrug it off as nothing. And I feel like that might happen.

Like

I can sense the Cyberium being forgotten across the galaxies.

And I want it to be important. Not just appear, I want it to have devastating effects - the ones The Timeless Children set up.
