So @natalieironside predicted that Randall Flagg shipping discourse will be all the rage in 2023. Consider this my preemptive investment with a few Dark Tower memes.

All the series combined, (pjo, hoo, toa) I think Trials of Apollo might be my favorite. I’ve said Heroes of Olympus for a while, but after finishing toa, I was actually really sad in a way that I wasn’t with the other series. This is my reasoning: *TOA SPOILERS AHEAD*
Lester/Apollo’s narration and character development was top notch. In The Hidden Oracle, at first I thought the book series was gonna be full of arrogance and whining. Oh, how it was the complete opposite. He went through stuff that no other god will ever go through. Pain, and grief. The empty feeling of not being yourself anymore. And he finally realized how the gods are, how clueless they have been about mortals and demigods. Everything that happened in toa was just building up to the perfect Apollo, the Apollo that’s not in fact perfect.
The characters. Like, these characters are so good? First of all, they are so fleshed out. Meg McCaffrey, who saw her own father dead and got mentally abused by the emperor who killed him. “The Beast,” was just himself, but Meg was too scared of him to stand up for herself. And like, how is an arrow kind of making me empathize with it? The arrow of Dodona was supposedly the worst piece of wood in the forest, and so Lester needed to prove the others wrong, and I think he did. Especially in that final battle against Python.
The amount of different stories and adventures. Obviously you would have sooo many adventures, because you need to get a different oracle in each one! In every single one, we’re introduced to a new character and new goal. It doesn’t really start in the first one, as it’s just introducing the main characters. In the second one, it’s Emmie, Jo, Calypso, and Leo. In the third one, it’s Piper, Jason, and Grover. In the fourth one, it’s Lavinia, Reyna, Hazel, and Frank (a lot of characters from SoN). In the last one, it’s just a lot of chb campers. Will, Nico, the Troglodytes, and more. See what I mean? There are so many different stories in just one series.
And lastly, how powerful it is. The fact that it could make me cry is impressive, because I don’t cry at much (book and movie wise). Jason’s death, Lester’s misery, Meg’s abuse, and so much more. It’s just so sad but powerful at the same time. If you prefer a different series, (PJO, HOO, TOA) then tell me why!

Going insane thinking about Gortash missing Durge only to see them again and realize that they are a different person, trying to resist the urge.
Or better yet
Durge fighting the urge all the way to when they meet Gortash. Him being the only sense of home their body physically remembers, and upon realizing Gortash accepts, no, embraces, all of them, urge included, they let it go, and just are themselfs once again.
No matter what their moral compass says, what their companions say, nothing matters because of they finally found that one piece of home, the only one.

I realised something about Broken.
Patt of the reason he's so unhealthily devoted to the Princess is because he feels like she gives him purpose. Without her, he is nothing.
And if you played the whole game, you'll know that in a way, he's right.

Thinking about Dark Urge seeing Ketheric again at Moonrise Towers and realizing: This man knows what happened to you. He has to, right? Your deranged sister jumps you in the illithid colony under the General's tower. One of his Myrklites turns you into their pet science project and studies the new tadpole on you. Balthazar seems aware of this project to an extent. You are literally patient 0 in the new tadpoling scheme! How in the ever living fuck does Ketheric NOT know what happened to Durge?! He's gotta, right? He's absolutely gotta been aware to SOME extent, right?! Make it make sense!

I love Baldur’s Gate 3 but I do wish that there was a bit more diversity with the companions. Like they’re all generally well-written and interesting but also:
Out of the 10 total companions, only two of them are not some variation on a human or an elf
Every single origin companion has “I have spent a significant portion of my life in service to a powerful being” as a central part of their backstory
Half of the origin companions were either directly stated or implied to be extremely powerful but got reduced to lvl 1 bc a worm was put in their noggin
2 of the companions are druids (They also overlap a fair amount in terms of backstory)
Some of these points are probably a little nitpicky, but also there’s so many interesting characters that you only meet once who would be so cool as a companion. Let me recruit that one goblin who’s still faithful to Maglubiyet. Let me recruit Barcus and get to know him better while I help him find his friend. I want to bring stone mason Kith along so he can better investigate the Grymforge and also tell me about historical architecture. Z’rell or Aylin could both be really interesting act II additions to the party. The current companions are great, but in comparison to all the possibilities that are in the game they feel kinda bland.

Dark Urge Særós (later Twig), sitting on Ketherics throne whem he's not looking, and two of her gnolls.
After being tadpoled and she returns to moonrise,
She gets really upset with the lady who names them shit like Barnabus, 'cus they're hers and their names are Bonemeal, Laceretor, and Grim.
Though because of memory stuffs she doesn't know why she's angry. Anyways, the lady has to DIE.

Am I the only one who’s fucking frothing at the mouth to read the rest of that play you find in the arcane tower? With the three estranged friends who reunite, only to kill each other in their desperate, lonely madness???

Everyone realizing Nemo has no plans of disbanding his murder cult what is more the assasins guild now: 😥
Nemo: "First of all, let's blow father's huge ass skull off the wall. Idc about that thing.
Second of all, Murder Tribunal needs to be reworked. I am no longer accepting every murder-happy idiot into the fold. Things will be ORGANIZED from now on. Whatever you do on your free time is your business, but killing done in the name of the guild will be done strictly by contract. No more killings for free. What? Yes, Father's ecstacy through murder will probably be annulled for many of you. Again, I don't care if you worship by dear old dad or not, but remember I am your leader and our guild comes first. Any religious preferences stay behind the door. What? Yes, of course you can worship Loviatar now, Caleb, I'm surprised you haven't already. Anyway, I want to officially invite all of you present to the wedding of our dear Clotilda and...Sorry, what was his name again?

Go then. There are other worlds than these.
I first read these sentences at about sixteen or seventeen. I'm thirty now. I finished the Gunslinger the first time and set it down, returned it to the library (the school one, I think) and ruminated on the book for another year, deciding to give it a go sometime in my senior year of high school.
The second time I attempted the tower, I knew what I was getting into, but it still didn't quite hit. A third attempt another year later and I hit the ground running, grabbing as many of the books as I could from the used bookstore just off my college campus and when I stopped being able to find them, borrowing the library's copies to finish the series in the span of a week.
This specific fucking line tho.
I was so scared when the movie came out that I was going to have to watch this fucking scene happen. Again. And then it fucking DIDNT
Because Ka is a fucking wheel and Roland Deschain finally managed to break that part of the cycle and we didn't get any more.
Other worlds than these. Fucking hell.

I don't think enough people know that the Irish Catholic priest from Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot (1979) canonically went on to become a gay vampire hunter during the AIDS crisis in the 80s, and was unintentionally walking between different universes for a while.
