workndeadline you say?
i say 11 & 14 for the ask game!
BOLI! Thank you, mine boss! I assure you I was actually working on this answer when I should have been working on my deadline, but this day went wide on me in weird ways. And please feel free to send some Ask Game my way if anyone else is interested.
That said:
11: Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?
Well, I do have some sex stuff. In fact, only just today I typed the upsetting words: "Dooku gonna break that seer in half (respectfully)" while chatting to my gal about this upcoming chapter of 12 months that I'll be posting … hopefully in the next week or so. (And then disappearing from this website forever into the deep woods, never to be seen again because of lingering religious guilt about writing sex.) But that isn't really that weird for Tumblr/Ao3 writing circles.
I think my weirdest writing project right now is The Thunder Answered Back. I slap a timer to give a defeated RotS-era Dooku like 10 minutes to grab up anything he wants to save at the Temple during Order 66, except the catch is that he has no hands. And then, it gets stranger.
It's an Escape the Empire salvage job, not a fix-it. It's part Jocasta/Dooku, but she might kill him, part Jedi family, but they might kill him, I'm wrangling a huge ensemble of obscure Jedi Legends characters and trying to save them all, there are younglings (I can't write kids!), Asajj is in the mix (she also wants to murder Dooku), Obi-Wan, Yoda, and even I don't know what's going on with Sifo-Dyas's ghost -- is he real? is he a figment of Dooku's imagination? is he part OF Dooku? and that's going to be a lot weirder when he takes over the plot and maybe tries to get them to all go save his Clones… ugh.
It's going to be really fun, and I'm behind on the chapter 4 update but actively working on it. Right now I have Winter Depression (tm) and my brain genuinely doesn't work well because of it, so I'm choosing stories that are more comfort food. But I'll be back after it soon!
14 Your favorite side pairings to put in?
Does Dooku/Makashi count, because… I think that's a side pairing in all of my Dooku fics. He loves his friends, I love tangling him up into various pairings with them, but at the end of the day, he really, really loves that lightsaber form. Probably because it's really Dooku/Dooku.
Another few pairings… I do love Quinobi, oldie but a goodie is Qui/Tahl, and I might do something with Sifo-Dyas/Arath soon. I kind of like the whole alternate subtext reading of Dooku: Jedi Lost that Arath is such a bully to Dooku early on because Dooku is inseparable with his crush, the cutest boy in the Hawkbat clan. *making finger guns and winking at Sifo-Dyas*

I hope this isn't a weird or too random question (and if it is, feel free to ignore ofc!) but I was wondering if you had any advice for someone thinking of writing full-time? The obvious question is, of course, can one make a living from it even if they're not like Stephen King or GRR Martin or something? Do you have any tips from your experience that you would have found helpful when first starting out? <3
Hi, sweet anon! Not weird at all. I'm happy to chime in with some (long) thoughts.
Firstly, yes! Authors can make a full-time living from writing even if they're not GRRM &c. I know a number of full-timers, and some of them aren't even NYT bestsellers.
As a caveat, I know very little about the indie/self-publishing space, so the following is based on my experience in traditional publishing.
I spent around 2-3 years writing books full-time. I no longer do that, and don't plan to return to it unless I have a big commercial breakout. It was just a never-ending parade of financial stress. It's hard even to give "tips" because so much is out of your control -- but if you're considering trying to write full time, you should definitely know what you're signing up for.
Here's an average situation for a non-bestseller trying to full-time it:
Let's say you've published two books, and your third is on the way (awesome!). For your first two novels, you got advances of $40,000, but maybe they've only sold 15k copies apiece -- not enough to "earn out" your advance and start making new money. So, you're not making a cent off your older books. Probably won't for years.
Let's say your book 3 is supposed to publish in June 2025, and it sold for more than your last books: $75,000. Pretty good! Advances are usually divided into thirds these days: 1/3 on contract signing, 1/3 on delivery of the fully edited manuscript (D&A), and 1/3 on publication. So that makes a $50,000 salary this year, yes?
Kind of. Right off the bat, your agent gets 15%, so that would make a $42,500 salary. A little tighter, but still seems doable. Also, you need to make estimated tax payments to the IRS. So, let's ballpark your taxes at $7,000, state and federal, which you'll pay in installments throughout the year.
Contract negotiations take a few months as usual, and let's say in April, you get the first payment: your first $21,250. Nice.
Unfortunately, your editor's swamped, and 2 months go by before they send you edits. When you get the letter in June, you're like -- shit, this is a more extensive revision than I thought. You start rehauling the novel, but after your month-long deadline passes, it's still not right. You take another six weeks before you're happy. It's now September.
Suddenly money is very tight. You got $21,250 in April, but since then you've paid $5,250 in estimated taxes, and every month you pay $2,250 in rent, health insurance, and food. You were supposed to have your second payment already, because the contract's estimated D&A date said September. But you still need to do line edits. You now have $2,500 in the bank. You are very aware that this will last a little over a month.
Your editor gets back after a few weeks, having loved your revision, and has sent you line edits. Thank God she didn't want a second round of bigger edits. But it's now October. You rush through the line edits, turn them in after a single jam-packed week. You have $250 in the bank. Your D&A payment is now due.
A week goes by. Where is the payment? You email your agent. She badgers the publisher. They say the payment will be sent through in a pay run next week, so after agency processing, it'll be with you in early November.
You have $75 in the bank. You start putting everything on your credit cards. Then your utility company makes a direct withdrawal from your checking account. You wake up to an overdraft notice and zero dollars in your account. Holy shit, you think, why did I choose this career. November hits. You are late on rent. Maybe you should start drawing from your retirement account, which you put $5,000 into, one time, three years ago?
When your payment arrives, you're not happy so much as ready to cry with relief. You start paying off your cards and sending late, embarrassed Venmos to your friends. You can finally stop declining invites to hang out because you have no money.
And by then it's November, and you're realizing that you really need to be thinking about your next book. If you were working smart, you got a jump on it earlier in the year, when your editor was late with your edit letter. Let's say you wrote an entire first draft back then, between January and June. (Which, to be clear, IS fast for a novel, do not believe the ridiculous standards of writing speed you see online.) If you now take six months to mold that first draft into actual art, then send it to your agent next May, and she wants changes, and you submit in July, and it sells after an average couple months on submission, you won't get your next contract payment until January, 2026.
ARE YOU ANXIOUS YET?
The above scenario is ordinary. An editor having a delay on an edit letter for a month or two, or an author getting stuck and running over deadline for a month -- that stuff is barely worth commenting on.
And there are all sorts of other bumps in the road. Let's say the publisher has turnover in the contracts department. Immediately, that'll be a delay on your signing payment. I've waited 6 months for a contract payment before. I've waited months for a simple email reply from an editor because the company was going through layoffs.
Add more people into the process, and it gets slower. Are you working on IP, let's say a novelization of a TV property? That team might take months to get back to you even on your proposed outline. Working with a freelancer or cowriter? Add weeks or months to every step. In publishing, you spend half your life waiting. You know what doesn't wait? Rent, taxes, and health insurance.
Anon, this is the shoestring, desperate kind of full-time author existence. If you're doing a little better -- still midlist, but better -- you might have earned out one or more of your backlist titles. That means you'll get additional royalties twice a year, usually April and October. That will help.
Or maybe you're a super-fast writer who's always, always juggling multiple contracts and shooting drafts in and out of your door. That's a decent way to make a healthy living as a full-time author, but you'll need to complete multiple books a year, for sure.
This is why I have a survival job half the week that pays my rent. The stress is still there, but it's less frequent and less intense. Honestly, given my sales figures, which are (checks notes) bad, I'm lucky to get to keep doing this after five novels. Because the biggest looming threat is that if you don't break out, editors will start shutting the door immediately because of your lack of established audience.
The only really reliable way to pay your bills is to break out. Then if your editor leaves your publishing house, and you get reassigned, and that pads 3 months onto the editing process, or whatever, it doesn't matter. You'll have actual, substantial royalty payments twice a year. Your advances will always be over six figures. You can live a normal life where you're not staring into the murky distance, wondering when some payment is going to soar out of the night and into your terrible bank account.
Or ... you can just get a day job. And you will get paid biweekly, reliably, on SPECIFIC DATES!!!, forever. When I tell you this shit was life-changing for me. Good God.
Obviously the biggest problem in this whole post is the bit where I wrote "every month you pay $2,250 in rent, insurance, and food," and worried if I was, in fact, lowballing that amount. What a broken world!
Anyway. Best of luck with the writing, anon -- no matter what your experiences in or around the industry, I hope the work itself continues to feed your soul.

Another week down, another progress report!
Tumblr media
It turned out I managed to make it to the deadline of the EctoComp (cutting reeeaaaaallllyyy close) with the translation. And I obviously managed to upload it with bugs... This is what I've been doing most of this week: bug hunting (which should be complete) and UI fixing (which isn't).
According to my list, it is still missing 3 rooms/sections, and 1 potential action (maybe one more, but I am not sure how to make it work, so it might not?). Though, those were always considered extra and not relevant to the main plot. I've completed the journal to track the actions, but the inventory and the achievements popups are not working yet.
While I still haven't made a game page, you can play La Petite Mort here (and if you want play other EctoComp games and vote for them :P )
Tumblr media
The result of the inkJam is out, and In the Blink of and Eye placed 10th overall! Which is pretty decent, considering this was my first time participating, and the game was a very simple ink game mechanically (a different entry involved changing part on the screen with the player actually blinking - I had 3 variables) and written/coded in 4h!
The game is still in the running for both the French and English Ectocomps... Maybe consider playing it? (I really don't have expectations for placing high, the other made in 4h entries are so good!)
Tumblr media
I've been playing and reviewing the inkJam and EctoComp entries (almost done with Ecto, Bare-Bones is next), whose longer versions have been queued in @manonamora-if-reviews. It's been a nice change of pace compared to the IFComp, mainly because the games are fairly short. It's also been a nice break from writing/coding :P I am going back to Harcourt when I'm done with the Ecto.
-_-
The IFComp and EctoComp, are always looking for players/voters. If you want to play a few short-ish games, take advantage of that!
The @seedcomp-if is always looking for inspiration (text, images, code, etc...) in this current first round. If you have half-baked ideas or anything, really, come submit something!
Over @neointeractives, we just announced the ShuffleComp!
-_-
I think that's it? Toodles!~
EDIT: first separate Monthly-Check.

Ask Me (Almost) Anything 2023, Part 2!
Hey all! Welcome back!
Two weeks ago, I solicited a bunch of questions for an ask me (almost) anything feature on the blog and folks really delivered! I had so many questions that I had to break it up over two weeks! You can read the first half here and let's get into the second!
@ultimanggo asks: "Hallu David! Ty for the opportunity! Say that there are artists who are fresh grad artists or first timers seeking to apply in IDW as a comic artist, do you look into their works or pitches and consider of hiring them?"
Sure! I have worked with folks who were still doing their undergrad and making comics in their spare time. A lot of comics places are not terribly particular about formal education. They are more concerned with execution--can the artist tell the story clearly and to the standards set by editorial, including meeting deadlines, making requested revisions, not deviating from model, etc. I, and other editors, also sometimes work with colleges to do events and do portfolio reviews for students and recent graduates, and sometimes people get work from that.
I am often very happy to work with new talent. I like seeing people at the start of their careers and watching them grow and being a part of that.
@lurkingsupport asks: "Thank you for the opportunity! For someone's first indie comic, what's the best strategy for publishing? Should an artist consider keeping the comic online at first?"
The best strategy for publishing is going to depend heavily on your comic and there isn't a clean one-size-fits-all answer, I'm afraid. If it's a 4 page pastiche of another popular comic, yeah, you're probably fine having it mostly exist digitally. Or printing it as like a little zine that you can take around. If it's a standard 20-24 page one-shot, or series of 20-24 page issues, maybe look into getting it printed. I've heard good things about both RA Comics Direct and Comix Well Spring for indie comics, particularly if you're looking for a smaller print run. All the comics I've made have either gone through larger printers we work with at IDW or are things that I've printed at home (we have a nice printer for stuff my fiance Becca makes), so I can't speak to their services firsthand, but I've heard good things. The biggest factor is ultimately what do you want out of publishing? If it's supposed to be a portfolio piece that you'd want to give out at conventions, or you're interested in having a comic to table events with, I'd say get it printed! If you just want to have a comic done and out in the world, maybe it is better for it to just exist digitally and save the expense of printing for down the line.
There are other variations--this is not getting into the differences between posting a comic on socials vs. posting it on a subscription site vs. posting it on a webcomic service vs. hosting your website for it or seeking a publisher vs. self-publishing or looking into crowdfunding. And a lot of that comes down to the quality of the work, your comfort with exploring these avenues, your time and finances, and what your starting support base looks like.
@CalamityCons asks: "How does an editor usually keep track of things like timelines and character rules? Do you have a spreadsheet? I would make a spreadsheet." It only just clicked for me that you're probably asking about "timelines" in a continuity sense, more than a deadlines sense. But I'm going to answer for both!
In the deadlines sense, I have a whole suite of programs that I'm using to keep track of things. I do use spreadsheets. I have multiple business software sites that I use--from project tracking sites to file transfer sites to internal product databases to external product databases to collaborative sites for art and reference sharing. I mark stuff on my digital calendar and keep track of my daily projects in a notebook (see next question). I have licensor submission sites that help keep track of things. I work with a team of very talented people who help build and watch schedules and readjust when needed. All sorts of stuff!
In the continuity sense, it varies by editor and property. I tend to work more with documents and decks. So, sometimes I'll be adding new rules to a Google Doc that I share with anyone else working the property including other editors, proofreaders, sometimes talent, etc. Or I'll be reviewing a PDF or Powerpoint from a licensor outlining certain guidelines for us to adhere by. A lot of it is repetition and practice and learning as you go. When I was working on Transformers, I always kinda had a loose timeline written down in a doc for how stories fit together and what happened when, but it was also loose enough that we could make adjustments if a new story needed it.
@rileysauruss asks: "How do you keep track of everything in that one notebook that seems to have no system? (respectfully) What’s it like working with me? Do you like doing balloon guides?"
The notebook has a system. It's organized chronologically. Every day, I go in, write down my to-do list for the day and as I accomplish things, I cross them out. Generally it's high level information, but I will drill down into something if I know I have multiple tasks to do with it. If I have a meeting that day, my meeting notes go under the day's to-do list. Most things are kept track of by the daily to-do. It's easy to track "finish this issue because it isn't printed yet and it was on the list yesterday." New items are added as I go, so they get incorporated too. Bigger notes that don't fit the "to-do" style--say licensor update type stuff--often has some level of follow-up sent via email or is otherwise added to one of our other tracking mechanisms so it isn't lost in the shuffle. And sure, sometimes I'll be like... figuring out page turns on a Best of and making sure it all works or whatever and will want to eventually go back to that, but then I just sorta flip through and look for it because I usually give those things their own page rather than squeezing them between the daily stuff.
Pretty great. I like working with you, Riley. You remember stuff because you don't just write it like a mad man in a chaos notebook. You give good feedback. You tell good jokes. It's a really great experience and other people are also lucky to work with you.
Yeah, actually, kinda? I am very glad that I don't have to do them all the time because they can be kind of a timesuck, but I do like having the extra chance to go through the script and look for typos and adjustments as I'm reviewing the art and I like thinking about balloon placement. It can be almost relaxing. But don't think this means you're getting out of balloon guides.
@GigiDutreix asks: "Can Luna be a comic?"
Ask Riley. Luna's her cat. I would say yes, but in this case, it is Riley's decision.
(This weirdly is a very basic example of how licensing works. Swap "Luna" for "Sonic" and "Riley" for "SEGA".)
@KWalthersArt asks: "How does one go about working for companies like IDW and what difficulties that might entail especially for people with chronic health issues and/or introverted and anxious?"
Let me begin by saying comic companies employ people in two ways. You have people like me who are staff and you have freelancers who work on contract for certain projects. The necessary requirements of each are pretty different and so the difficulties can be very different too.
As a staff person, comic companies are ultimately creative office jobs. You start by applying when there's a job posting and take it from there. Most companies have at least one in-person office still and may ask you to regularly show up. Some have gotten a lot better about working remotely over the last couple of years, which I know is a boon to a lot of folks who do have chronic health issues. It is also a job where, besides if there is an in person expectation, a lot of business can be conducted via email. There are often calls--both on the phone and on Zoom and other video calling platforms, but I usually have at least a day a week where I am allowed to work from home and the only people I speak to are my fiance and my cats. Again, that is not necessarily uniform, but sometimes a possibility.
And, like many office jobs, there are also other major drawbacks to all of that. I know a little about how office jobs can be very unfriendly to people on disability and to disabled folks who may not be on disability specifically because of the limitations the American disability program forces upon them.
From a freelance perspective, a lot of getting work early on is some level of networking, which is tougher when you're introverted or anxious (though TBH, I think a lot of comics people are, which sometimes makes it easier). The whole of the con circuit is different now in many ways, but like... I don't think "bar con" is as much of a thing, which is probably a relief to a lot of folks. I don't drink very much either and do a lot of my social time at shows with people I know, so that pressure is very different. But when it comes to doing the work, I think you just have to be as upfront as you are comfortable with. Like, you don't have to explain everything, but know your limitations and be willing to take on work that matches. Comics often moves quickly and has hard deadlines and needs you to make them, so figure out what is reasonable within your life and schedule and keep to it so that you don't burn out or make yourself sick.
@Rechi_C asks: "Very important question, do your cats like to read the comics you work on or do they prefer to sleep on them?" My cats can't read. They too dumb. Real cute though. Honestly, more or less sleep? Credit where it is due, they largely leave my comics and books alone. They don't claw at them or chew them or lay on them very much. Sometimes they'll sit on a few, but fairly space-dependent. They are however monsters in basically every other way.
@RikDraws asks: "Where did you bury the diamonds?"  This is not the real Rik Mack, this is obviously Rouge the Bat posing as Rik and you're never going to find out!
@spacecolonie asks: "I'd love to hear your thoughts on specific things an editor may look for for when hiring cover artists! any big green flags in portfolios, ways of networking etc. thank you so much for the opportunity to ask! 😄♥"  Yay! It's fun to talk green flags and things I like!
This may sound a little strange, but I don't look for cover artists very often. A lot of the artists I work with--not all, but a lot of the artists I work with on covers--also are interested in sequentials. I think that practicing staging moments in panels and taking the time to consider what information is key to communicate what you want in a smaller space, as well as how that moment connects to the next in a flow of action, often strengthens people's cover compositions.
Like think about a movie. When you're watching it, all the film is running at a pace that creates consistent moving images and carries you through the story. But if you were to break it into the film strip (or the storyboards), you'll see only key frames are really needed to convey the information when it is still. And one of those key frames might be stronger than the rest and make for a compelling single image. That's kinda what making a cover often is--figuring out what your one compelling image is from all the images that could create the story and that may encompass a story unto itself as a microcosm. And being able to sort through those with a stronger eye makes your work better.
Rarely are the covers to books I work on character portraits. There are some amazing cover artists who do primarily do portraits, but I often gravitate toward covers with strong action, backgrounds, and/or contrast. Solicits went live this week and we announced a new Godzilla book with some killer covers! And while only one of them is mid-battle, all of them convey really strong action and story, right? Even if they are non-literal to the story inside (which I also kinda like for covers a lot of the time and find compelling), they convey a sense of what the book is about from first glance. And, of course, being able to draw licensed characters on-model while still maintaining your unique style is really important, too!
I'll also say, huge green flag in portfolios: knowing what you want to do and who you are presenting your portfolio to! This is probably the thing I harp on the most, but there are a lot of jobs in comics. Some people feel really comfortable doing a lot of them, some people feel comfortable with just one or two. Don't try to force yourself to do/present things you don't feel comfortable doing professionally. Obviously, feel free to work on things and grow your skills, but a portfolio should be the best representation of who you are as an artist at that moment. The other part of that, knowing who you're presenting to, is not to say you should always (or will always be able to) tailor your portfolio to the hiring person you're showing it to, but it is to say it helps to know who you are showing it to and to have a reason to have them review it. Like... I love superhero comics! No doubt! But I don't edit a lot of superhero comics, so I'm not always the best at providing feedback to superhero heavy portfolios, nor do I necessarily have a lot of openings that fit with the work I'm being presented. And someone who edits horror comics primarily might not have a lot of good feedback for a Disney heavy portfolio. Or a person who excels in character design like for animation might not always work with a comics person because we don't hire a lot of folks just for character design, and most of the ones we do are people who are already in our wheelhouse.
Finally, networking green flags! Honestly, the big ones there are just being like... a cool person. Pleasant professional interactions go a long way. In this day and age, it's really easy to build a parasocial relationship with someone via social media or whatever and remembering when you're communicating with someone that for as fun as comics are, it is a job is really important. Business cards are good. Respect people's time and learn to recognize when the interaction is over. And if someone says something along the lines of now is not the time to shoot your shot, respect that and wait.
@DaveScheidt asks: "What was the most unconventional way you have found an artist/writer to work with?" Unconventional? Uhh... I brought a stack of comics to a zine making night for the feminist group I interned for in college and a person really lit up when they saw them and was like "who brought the comics" and then we flirted and went on a date later that week and now we're engaged and also make comics together sometimes, so I guess falling in love. (Hi Becca!)
@tintinpantoja asks: "What's the best way to learn story structure for graphic novels? Do you rely on a certain system, similar to screenwriting?" I find the best way to learn most things about comics storytelling is reading other comics and experimentation. I don't know that every graphic novel has to follow your traditional three or five act structure. And I find a lot of ones I love actively defy it! Not to be a total cop-out, but I think that the structure is highly dependent on the outline. Answers to questions like to what extent is each "chapter" (regardless of whether your book is formally separated in to chapters or not) it's own smaller narrative or what is the intended narrative density of each spread are going to really change things.
Story structure for a periodical is different, right? Like... you want every 20-ish pages to end in a cliffhanger or some sort of resolution (even if it remains somewhat open-ended). You want your story structure to work across however many issues you're telling the story in, while leaving each hunk as satisfying. But with a GN, sometimes the rhythm of those peaks is going to be different.
All of which is to say, I think it's something beyond just winging it, but I find it so unique to the work that I don't personally have a systemic version of what I'm looking for/writing to.
@AndrewCramer78 asks: "How does one get more editors eyes on a colourist portfolio if one is unable to attend US based conventions? Are there preferred online platforms that editors browse for new/undiscovered talent? Thanks!!"
That's a good one! I tend to browse Twitter the most, TBH. The real advantage to Twitter over everything else still at this point is the sharing ability. I'm now on Instagram and some of the other sites, and I check in, but I find the discoverability can really wildly vary there and when it comes to coloring (and lettering) other sites tend to drown out their portfolios. I am curious about Cara and InkBlot, but they are not yet regular haunts for me.
My other recommendations are collaborate with folks, of course, and have people who can advocate for you to color their work. Check to see if publishers have submission pages or emails because if they do, they do check those, though they might not always be able to quickly reply or be able to use you at that time. Depending on where you are set up, look for bigger international shows you can attend because those do often bring in US based editors. My last big recommendation is getting an agent/manager. I get emails daily or weekly from agents who want to put their people forward for projects and, yeah, have hired folks from those.
@genderdestroyer asks: "What are the best parts about your job as an Editor? What kind of challenges do you come across in that position, especially with overseeing more than one IP/series? I’d also love to know more about your editorial process and how you work with the artists on these comics! ✍🏻✨" Not to sound too sappy, but I like seeing people succeed. It's really satisfying knowing that like, Riley has become such a strong editor in her own right. Or seeing folks who I gave their first jobs pop up on other books/sometimes be too busy to do stuff for me. I also like getting to reach out to people whose work I admire and get to collaborate with them in my way. Also, I dunno. I like getting to talk to people about comics--including sometimes doing stuff like this. I like helping people figure out what ideas will work best--both on a creator side and a licensor/company side. And sometimes my job pays for stuff. That's nice.
To the point of collaborating, my editorial style is, I think, guiding more than defining most of the time. I want to hand my artists the reference they need--scripts, other art, whatever--and give them the space to infuse themselves into a project and sort of pull on the reins when needed, give notes when needed, but let them figure it out because that makes a lot of great work. And then in-between that, I play middleman with licensors and approvals type people and work with them and the artist to make sure everyone's expectations and needs are being met. I put a lot of faith into the people I work with and am often rewarded by that.
In terms of challenges, there are more than a few. Because things are happening so quickly, often the things that are prioritized are the most urgent/the most behind and sometimes having to make the call to fix that means the next thing is going to have less time and that will continue to happen. A huge reason why you see consistent creators--or a consistent pool of creators--on a book is because like I said earlier, I put a lot of faith into the people I work with, and sometimes that is a matter of necessity. I need people I know I can leave be and who will meet the expectation so I can fix the things that need it--especially because not every book gets the same amount of time. Scheduling is always tough too, and tougher when you're working with people who do crossover from one series to another. And problems always seem to come in sets, so if something is going wrong on one property's book, you can almost be assured something's going to go wrong on another. It is a stressful job and I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't love the parts of it that I do absolutely love.
@Astramyths asks: "Would absolutely love to know what you might look for in cover/concept artists outside of a person's portfolio? Like through their social media, etc. Do you mind if artists have side accounts for fandom stuff? Since I already saw a lot of questions Abt portfolios proper :)"
This is really interesting. Because I do find a lot of artists on social, yes, I do often check people's socials. It often is kind of a vibe check, for lack of a better term. I want my interactions to be pleasant ones and professional ones for both our sake, and sometimes you can tell you would not work well with a person for one reason. I'm not like... searching for a gotcha reason not to work with someone or only interested in working with people with certain follower counts or whatever, but when I do look, I am often interested in whether I think we'll be a good collaborative fit.
I don't mind fandom side accounts or (as long as the artist in question is an adult and is depicting adults) NSFW side accounts or whatever. I think it's nice to be engaged with the community in different ways. However, to that end, it can be complicated to interact with a fandom once you've worked on it professionally, or it can be complicated to just be in a fandom because communities are complicated, and so that can also sometimes be part of the vibe check too.
@JustOwenE asks: "Hi, if someone is ever thinking of writing but has had no prior experience, what is the best approach; would you just go at it & hope for the best?"
Kind of? To the earlier question about story structure, I think it's worth it to read other works and get a feel for how they are written. I think outlining can be really helpful to develop a narrative skeleton for yourself to follow. And there are a TONNNNNN of good books about writing because--and I say this as a writer as well as an editor--if there's one thing writers like more than actually writing, it's writing about writing. But, yeah, at some point, it's good to just go for it and hope for the best. Start small and build. Not every work needs to be published or widely read and you can harness your craft slowly and build toward bigger projects. But really, yeah, the only way to start is to do it and to do it for yourself, get a feel of how you write, and then keep really doing it for yourself, but being willing to share it and see if it resonates with other people more and more.

Announcements:
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! Reminder that Becca and I are going to be at Geoffrey's Comics (4068 Redondo Beach Blvd, Torrance, CA) for Free Comic Book Day this year. As always, it's the first Saturday in May (the 6th). I'll have whatever stock I have left of all my comics after all our other recent shows, so still a pretty decent amount of TF/Terminator, some Hanazuki singles, and some Wreckers, plus a selection of titles I've edited like Sonic, Godzilla, and more!
Fangaea! I will be there as Becca's booth babe next Saturday, 4/29! Which also means next week's blog might be Sunday or we might be very short the next couple of weeks! This also means Becca's only doing Wednesday streams on Twitch the next two weeks, but you should definitely subscribe! They just hit their 50 follower goal and are on their way to affiliate, which is cool! Also they have a lot of rad art streams and game streams and stuff!
I was on this week's episode of The Comic Chronicle Podcast! Talking comics, conventions, good advice from Paul Levitz, and more! Give it a listen if you haven't somehow gotten enough of me talking about comics after this!

I have come to the following conclusion:
I am not allowed to estimate the length of any of my LiuShen fanfics. I seem to be literally incapable of it.
Even my four seasons story (Hundred Winters Grove) almost became more than four chapters, because I could not help myself. It did become something like double the estimated word count. And this was after I had originally thought I might be able to contain it in a single longish oneshot.
I'm normally fairly good at estimating how long a story will be, did you know? Sure, there's a margin of error either way, but I usually have a fairly good guess a chapter or two in, and that margin of error shrinks with each chapter.
LiuShen? It does the opposite.
(Behind the cut I try to rant entertainingly about my current project.)
This is what it's been like for The Guardian Ghost and the Bookish Fairy so far.
Original thought: How about a 4+1 oneshot of a ghost Liu Qingge protecting Shen Qingqiu? Here is a list of the four times he can protect SQQ. Okay, no, 5. Because that'd be funny. Okay, a 5+1 longish oneshot for my fake birthday! Perfect! I'll just skate quickly across the scenes and focus on the funny, cute, or romantic moments and done. Gosh, having this list is going to make it so much easier!
Next: No, it's taken over 1.5k words to just for Liu Qingge's qi deviation scene. We're looking at a multi-chapter for sure. Three chapters, then? Friendly thoughts (since he knows it's not the original SQQ), then attraction, and then resolution? Okay, I'll just map out the chapters for that and... outline complete. Now I may resume writing.
Then: This chapter is running a little long. I'll break this one into two parts. So it'll be four chapters. That'll cover the entirety of August, which is great, TBH. I should have a good idea of where I am in Cultivate by the time the last chapter posts.
Yesterday: ...how is my outline now at six chapters? How. I am running out of ways to title the chapters since my previous systems have broken. FFS, whatever, as long as it's vaguely the right idea go for it. At this rate, I'm going to have to add the tag "slow burn" to my tags draft. I refuse to tag this 5+1 because that idea is dead by now. Everything is out of control. Characters who were basically meant to be walk-on roles have entire scenes now. Everything is on fire. Dogs and cats living together - MASS HYSTERIA.
...on the plus side, I'm enjoying the story.
It's not nearly as funny as intended (scenes originally intended to be less than 500 words to reach a punchline are now treated more seriously or altered to be more than a goof), but it has its moments.
And, as I said, characters meant to be walk-on roles the equivalent of Guard 3 now have scenes.
Luo Binghe now merits his own tag mentions (Gray Lotus Luò Bīnghé & No Vinegar - just to confirm that he's not a bitter love rival in this fic... though maybe 'No Vinegar' isn't entirely accurate, just it's not Binghe who suffers from it). Shang Qinghua has the biggest role in this fic than he has in any of my fics so far. Perhaps put together. He'll go in the characters list. Liu Mingyan may also merit being tagged in the characters list...
TBH, it's a much better fic for it, but I despair of myself. This is exactly why Cultivate will be a monster. (But probably a monster that will get me chapters to post all through November while I do NaNoWriMo for a different story.)
I'm not in as much pain so I've been able to spend more time at the keyboard, which is useful because the wordcount keeps growing and the deadline moves ever-closer. And I do hate posting fics where I haven't finished them first. I'm currently on-track to finish the story by the end of the month, but possibly only if I continue to write ~3.5k+ a day this weekend. (At least I still have a week between the end of the month and posting day, just in case.)
PS: The scene that justified the Grey Lotus Binghe tag? I'm rather sad readers have to wait for that one.

This is the most champagne problem, I realize, but my debut is going to be a lead title at a major imprint, and I'm getting really nervous the closer we get to pub. I always hoped I'd be successful obviously, but wasn't prepared for anything like this. It's hard to comprehend on the scale they're hinting at. Have you had any clients who were majorly successful sort of suddenly? Do you have any advice on how to handle it based on their experiences?
I have! I really think you should enjoy every scrap of fun stuff that comes your way, relish it, bask in it take lots of pictures of cool stuff -- if you start to make extra money FOR GOD'S SAKE SAVE IT TO PAY YOUR TAXES.
Write as much as you can when you can, like in this "before time" -- because later, when you are hectically promoting your book and running all over creation, you will have a lot less quiet time to write. But guess what? People will still expect a next book! Hopefully an even better one than this one! But you'll have less time and space to write it! Sooo.... sure, give yourself a couple weeks after launch to promote and whatever but then figure out how to carve WRITING TIME into your schedule somehow, whatever that looks like for you, and keep it sacred.
This is going to sound like a downer and I don't mean it to be, but I think the main thing to realize is, regardless of how "big" this launches -- it doesn't actually change anything. Like, it might FEEL like things have changed -- but actually, not really. (And that's OK, as long as you know it!).
If you are in a bad relationship, or you are depressed or anxious or whatever -- sudden dramatic success is not going to fix it. You will still have the same problems, just now with more deadlines and pressure added. So please DO consider or continue therapy or meds or whatever solutions for the underlying problems, because 'cool book stuff' is not the fix your imagination might have told you it would be.
Keep your head on your shoulders and your feet in real life, rather than getting caught up in the Internet of it all. Definitely cherish your close and trusted writer friends -- but also, keep up with some real life friends who don't know or care what books are, who are perfectly happy to root for you but also won't blow smoke about it because they don't actually have an interest in the weird world of publishing. Spend lots of time with your family and go outside a lot.
Maybe your book will be a besteller -- but Bestseller or Lead Title status or whatever also doesn't mean that your book is ACTUALLY BETTER THAN any other book that didn't list or that isn't a lead title. I know you know this -- but the thing is, that some people (particularly people on the internet) will appear out of nowhere once you start to have public success and seriously start to pump you up. Suddenly you have a bunch of folks praising you or adulating you or talk about how AMAAAAZING your book is -- and while I'm certain (most of them) are legit well-wishers who have the best of intentions, they are also living in a fantasy world - don't let them drag you into it.
Being able to put "NYT Bestseller" in your twitter bio doesn't mean that you will even earn out your advance, or come close. You might - but it's no guarantee, even with bestseller status. It just means you sold more than other books THAT WEEK, it doesn't mean you are now rich, or famous, or life is better. It's just a cool thing, but in the scheme of things, is not particularly meaningful REALLY despite how people start to act about it.
In other words - Don't get a big head, because today's "superstar" can truly be forgotten tomorrow. There will always be ups AND downs in this business if you stick around long enough. NYT bestsellers still get rejections, authors with some hits still also usually have books that tank, and on the flip side, people who have been toiling away in obscurity will sometimes gets a hit nobody could have predicted. These are just facts. I rep several authors who have many dozens or even hundreds of books published over the course of decades, and you can SEE that success never looks like scaling a mountain that never stops going up, or scaling a mountain with an easy chair on top and just parking there -- it's hills and valleys and sometimes gulches and sometimes weird spikes (and sometimes you can be on a hill AND in a gulch at the same time!!!) -- anyway, hopefully you have good, sensible shoes.
So if you start with the realization that all the *fancy* stuff is just abnormal and not something PERMANENT, and that's FINE -- you're a lot less likely to have a difficult "pride goeth before a fall" moment, you know?

Okay, 1. I forgot what a good film School of Rock is, and 2. Who the fuck made Wednesdays a day I have to get up at 5am, oh god
Also the ASM is gonna be a dick about me taking today off cs I'm sick, I just fuckin know it
Every time someone's been off sick he goes on rants about how they're lying to get a day off (or smth like, oh, isn't it a coincidence that today's really busy in store and the student who has mental deadlines took a day off - like, fuck, idk, maybe, but you don't have to be a twat every second of your life, do you? Maybe he does, idk. Seems like it), and his mother never took a day off from the post office in 40 years and the store should come first and we've been left in the lurch and blah blah blah
Maybe we have been "left in the lurch", but it's one day out of literally a thousand, but y'know we aren't all your mother, and people are fucking entitled to call in sick?! People shouldn't have to work when they're sick! Idk laws, but there's definitely laws
For how much longer, idk, but there's definitely laws
Also, people are allowed to have an actual life, y'know - just cs you are somehow proud of working 50 hours a week - which you also shouldn't have to do, by the way, working yourself to death isn't something to be proud of - dun mean that everyone else has to go by your impossible fuckin "million pound store" standards
Also I hate his stupid slogans
I do not care how much money the store makes, it goes to whoever the fucking CEO is since the last guy got kicked out for embezzling, not me - I'm not going to "smash it", either, I'm going to stand here security bugging t-shirts until I am allowed to go home, and don't fucking get on at me about how I'm yawning too much, I get enough of that from the horrid fucking old men customers
Also he calls us "staff" all the time, there's like five of us (there's not, but still), there's no fucking need
Also whenever some customer says like, oh you're not Scouse, he always replies in the exact same way, "I'm a London boy, me" - which like, I'm autistic, I know a script, but fuck me I just hate everything about this petty little man, I'm sorry. How can you be that proud of being a Millwall supporter? Oh, "we're not all the same", nah, you mightn't be a violent thug, that I know of, but you're sure as fuck a sanctimonious little cunt tryna lord your horrid self over everyone else - mightn't be violence, but it's not fuckin nice either
Anyway. Fuck.
Oh thank fuck I don't have to open with him tomorrow
Just the wet-noodle muppet of a manager who's somehow really fucking good at making me do extra days and stay late
He knows I have no backbone in person so he just waits until it's an hour before my shift ends and goes "really sorry, it's really busy, can you stay til close? Please it would really help"
The one time I said no, literally the one time in over 4 years, he asked again like half an hour later with an extra-pathetic noodle-y pleeease we haven't got anyone else
Like that's your fucking fault, dipshit, you fucking hired everyone. Hire someone who's not a fucking student, please, I swear it won't kill you. Y'know what else won't fucking kill you, having enough people on staff that it's not the end of the fucking world somehow if someone calls in sick. Lean staffing or whatever it's called is the worst, what fuckwit came up with all this awful shit and how can we stop it, please
But of course I said yes, because I always say yes
Tomorrow I'm rota'd til 4 and I'm leaving at 4, I swear to god

(TW) Serial Killers Masterlist
Authority (ao3) - gloomywilbur luke/ashton E, 38k
Summary: "In all our lives, there is a fall from innocence. A time after which we are never the same."
Complication In Your Heart (ao3) - DracosPubicHair michael/luke E, 29k
Summary: Michael has killed over 10 people and has never been caught, and maybe Luke is just as crazy.
Deadline (ao3) - L4sht0n luke/ashton, side michael/calum T, 24k (WIP)
Summary A serial killer is on the loose in London, but to the police, the killings are accidents, not murder. It's up to Luke Hemmings, a criminal journalist from The Times, together with a rivalling journalist Ashton Irwin to solve the case. And sure, Luke had been wanting to get to know Ashton better, but in his mind, that didn't include dead girls, tears, terror and a killer that seemed to always stay a step ahead of them.
Don't Love Broken Boys (ao3) - PikachuBandit michael/luke N/R, 3k
Summary: Luke was a troubled boy with a terrifying addiction: he had to kill. The blood of his victims smeared across his hands as they struggled to breathe was intoxicating. Michael was just a sad boy who had the ability of not being able to die no matter how often he tried. He also had a problem of falling in love with the dangerous boys, because they always pushed him to the brink of death before pulling him back. Now, he found a boy who is proving to love him purely, but he doesn't know if it's real. He just wants to feel loved for once in his life. Luke just wants to kill him, but he can't. He just can't.
I Promise You, This Isn't Pain You're Feeling (ao3) - Branithar luke/ashton E, 2k
Summary: After a night of partying, Ashton finds himself in the hands of a serial killer. There's only one thing to do in a situation like his.
I Want To Breathe You In (ao3) - simplecharli luke/ashton N/R, 40k (WIP)
Summary: Ashton wants Luke. Luke has no idea Ashton exists. Ashton takes extreme measures to make Luke his.
Love to Kill, Kill to Love (ao3) - CalumSlutTBH (KookiesandCream22) luke/ashton, michael/calum M, 3k
Summary: Luke was just an ordinary boy, with an ordinary life, until he found himself kidnapped by a psychopathic serial killer. He's the only person, who's still alive anyway, to have seen his face, which means he's stuck here for a while.
Just as Luke starts to think things couldn't get any worse, he discovers a well-kept dangerous secret that makes him question everything he's ever known. And to make matters even worse, he finds himself falling for his kidnapper.
So safe to say, Luke is NOT having a good week.
making the most of the night (ao3) - galacticsugar luke/calum E, 28k
Summary: “Cal! Have you met Luke?” Ashton has one arm around a tall blonde guy wearing a sheepish smile and a barely buttoned shirt, and he wraps his other around Calum, pulling him in close. “You should talk. You’ve got a lot in common. Shit exes, for example.”
Calum looks over this Luke person he apparently has a lot in common with, and he does seem a little familiar. Maybe Calum has met him before. But that doesn’t seem right either, because he thinks he’d remember meeting someone so…bright. Noticeable. Luke doesn’t exactly blend into a crowd. Calum’s not certain, though — he could’ve met Luke while he was super drunk or super tired or super distracted by his ex-boyfriend.
“Sure, yeah,” Calum agrees, dodging the question. “Luke, would you like to spend a fun evening talking about our shit exes and feeling sad about it?”
My Memories Are Bullets, Label Me a Killer (ao3) - flowersforlukey michael/luke T, 4k
Summary: "I want your body." Michael breathes out raspily and Luke's sure that he's been alarmed before anything else happens. However, Michael is smart enough, or somewhat, quite perceptive that he decides to duck his head again to press his lips against the shell of Luke's ear.
In an incredulously swift movement Luke pulls out the pistol from where it was hidden behind his back and points it at Michael's chest without him knowing about the piece of bronze pressed onto his body.
Maybe he didn't want those things. Maybe he really didn't. So he took a deep breath and pulled the trigger, not anymore caring of what the world would have against him after he's done all of this.
He missed.
Luke is a killer and meets Michael once again, the person who he was with on the night during his first kill. There's anger and betrayal, guns pointing at each other, and probably a few kisses shared. Remembering the memories with him probably changed his whole life.
Taken (ao3) - ShyyyVictoria luke/ashton N/R, 2k
Summary: Ashton needs carnage, until Luke. Then, all he needs is Luke.
To Be Unbridled And Unburned (ao3) - Branithar michael/calum, luke/ashton E, 8k
Summary: Since a wealthy businessman found his pelt while he was relaxing on a beach several years ago, Calum's done his best to make the most of his new life. He hasn't been able to like his wife or their home or their neighbours, but he's surviving, at least. Unbeknownst to him, rumours of what his father-in-law did have spread and a shady group of traveling magicians have taken interest in his situation.
Viper (ao3) - Jade_Wolff michael/luke M, 10k (WIP)
Summary: Luke Hemmings knows just how to blend in with the crowd, to his friends he's just an innocent, happy-go-lucky boy that would feel guilty for accidentally stepping on an ant.
Outside of his social life, however, his true colors come out…

Tumblr media
Hey again, Blog!
This week has felt like a long, dragged out mess with way too many ups and downs. As this week comes to an end, the next one marks the midway point of the semester, which means that the deadlines for a majority of my assignments have been rapidly approaching. I would be lying to myself and everyone around me if I claimed to be totally fine and not feeling even a little unhinged in the slightest.
If there's a gif out there to represent how I've been feeling throughout this week, it'd be the one below.
Tumblr media
It's a completly accurate visual representation of me forcing myself to the mrt station for an hour long train ride, just so I don't miss the bus back home.
I would say my assignments have been going pretty slowly but steadily. However, there was one that had me on the verge of ripping my hair out by the fistful after we discovered one of our groupmates was so insanely incompetent that we had to redo an entire survey that had already recieved 130+ responses. The fact that they had the audacity to say they did their best irks me to no end.
Especially when their section of the survey was what forced us to redo it, and they barely sent it to anyone to fill up the first time around. Maybe sometimes your best isn't enough and you should accept that, tamp down your ego and stop making yourself look like the victim for once. Humans make mistakes, you can't always be perfect, but if you don't learn from them it's no wonder no one likes you. But what do I know, I'm not a therapist.
Tumblr media
Moving on to more lighthearted things, speaking of catching busses and trains, every Friday I experience something pretty hilarious. For context, my brother works from home in a company that follows American timezones, which means that when I wake up at 5 AM to catch the bus for my 8AM classes, he's just finished working a 9-5.
I could not resist the urge to edit the video below just to show you what it feels like when I blearily stumble past him in the pitch black darkness of the hallway at 5 AM, with nothing but my phone's torchlight illuminating my path to the kitchen. (I wake up thirsty, sue me.)
[P.S. The video contains flashing lights! Please look away if you're sesnitive to them!]
Sometimes I get the worst jumpscare of my life when the torchlight shines onto a tall figure hunched over a faintly glowing microwave. He's always so zoned out that he doesn't notice me at all until I turn on the kitchen lights.
Classes ended a little early on Friday, we were let go at 4:30PM instead of the usual 6-6:30PM, which was great since I was planning to go to the Pasar Malam (Night Market) with a couple of friends (Nyiim, Aki and Redox). What wasn't great was the fact that it was raining. Heavily. With a capital H.
When I arrived at the station near the market, my friends and I had to wait it out until the wind didn't threaten to steal our umbrellas and the rain didn't offer us free showers with potentially acidic water. Now, despite the fact that i'd reminded them to bring their umbrellas, I was stupid enough to leave mine in my friend Nyiim's car. This resulted in Aki and I sharing her umbrella as we explored what the market had to offer. Nyiim and Redox also helped to shield my idiot self from the rain when they could.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you've kept up with my entries, you'd know why it looks like I hang out with mascots.
Despite the heavy rain, the market was bustling with activity from every corner. Vendors were shouting to promote their products, ear-piercing Chinese EDM blasted through waterproof speakers, and the clank of metal spatulas against steaming hot woks were what made the atmosphere special.
I always admire how hardworking the vendors are, no matter rain or shine, or even floods and treacherous winds, they'll still be setting up their stalls for the long night ahead. No matter the problem that arises, they'll be ready to sell what they had planned for the day. Despite how the market is much smaller than the one at Taman Connaught, it had a large variety of food and items. From Salt-baked Crabs and even knock-off Genshin Impact keychains, you can probably find something for everyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We took our time browsing through our options and ended up getting quite a good amount of food to chow down on for dinner. We also purchased some drinks from an extremely affordable store called Mixue. I personally bought some Taiwanese style fried chicken and a Chinese-Chive and Egg pie from the market and washed it down with some lemonade (only RM 2!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We headed home pretty late but it was really fun walking through a night market with friends for the first time, eventhough I ended up pretty soaked. The last time I'd even gone to one was even before the pandemic hit us, all the way back in 2019. At the end of the day, Nyiim drove Aki and I home, god bless her soul I will always be so grateful for her.
Tumblr media
This was a pretty good way to end the week! It's always important to realise that while things are rough, they may improve, even if it takes a little longer. I hope this entry was fun to read, and maybe you readers could give me some suggestions on what to buy from the market too!
Until next time!

“Maybe you’re not cut out for this class.”
He said it so casually, a comment spoken between the flip of textbook pages. You couldn’t shake off the undeniable hurt.
“I-Uhm, uh, yeah I have to study a lot...but I like this class. It was a pain to get off the waitlist.” You keep your voice optimistic and light, hoping to mask the offense taken.
You don’t know why Armin would say that, but maybe he was just being logical...he’s seen you struggle, of course, he’d think the class was too hard for you.
The blond sighs, closing his novel that he brought with him while he waited for you to finish your practice problems.
“You can barely keep up with the weekly homework assignments. You didn’t even hand in your assignment last week, right? Better drop out now before the add and drop deadline.” His voice is soft and cold at the same time. It’s unnerving.
You tuck your hair behind your ears, eyes set low, too ashamed to meet your tutor’s. Armin had been your tutor for the past few weeks now, and you thought it was going pretty well. He was so so smart that you couldn’t help but be a little starstruck. He was handsome too, short-cropped blond hair, wide blue eyes, with a wardrobe that was composed of slacks and sweaters.
Usually, he was always overly polite and charming. You could make countless mistakes and his patience was endless. He had some off-days where he was a little withdrawn and quiet. You never held it against him though, knowing he had no obligation to make idle chatter. But sometimes, you could feel his chilly gaze watching you even though he had a book propped open.
“I emailed the professor, he was really chill about it. Last week was really rough for me, you know? I wasn’t feeling well and...”
“You know excuses don’t fly in the real world right? You’re in college now. Professor Ackerman was just being courteous. He probably thinks you’re lazy.” Even though you try not to look at him, you can feel Armin’s azure blues burn holes into you. There was this quiet intensity about him that made you worry about when the restraints would come off.
Armin can’t help but let condescension drip over his words. Any self-respecting person would defend themselves, but not you. Not when you’re already broken by your own insecurities that make it that much easier for him to trample on.
He can already see pearly-sheened tears leaking from the corner of your hopeless eyes. How cute. You part your pretty little mouth to say something, but no words come out. You close your mouth soon enough, looking every bit like a dumb little airhead.
So he continues: “You know your classmates learned all the first few chapters from high school right? You’re the only one starting fresh.” He moves closer, elbows inching closer to infiltrate your little personal-space bubble, knees knocking into yours under the desk.
More tears form under your lower lashes, and Armin mentally counts the crystal droplets. You’re recoiling into yourself like a shrinking violet which only encourages Armin to go just a little farther.
“You don’t even have your major picked out yet. This is a core class for your classmates, you know. You’re wasting your-no, everyone’s time.”
Not wanting to cry in front of your tutor, you rub your eyes with the sleeve of your jacket, fully aware of how utterly pathetic you look right now.
In a small voice, you manage to utter, “I have a right...to be in this class. Even though I’m slow now, I think with some decent amount of studying...I’ll catch up. Even if I’m not-” you take a deep breath, “as quick as my classmates, I still really enjoy what I learn. And..and...I think at the end of the day, that’s what really matters!”
Armin scoffs, “Do you really like the class or are you staying for Ackerman? God knows how many fangirls he’s had to put up with.”
Even as he spoke those words, Armin knew it wasn’t entirely true. You admired the man zealously and had read all of his published papers. Honestly, your admiration had always annoyed him.
You wince at the insinuation but you could feel the anger simmering in your gut, “You have no right to imply that! Wh-why-” Your voice breaks, “are you being so mean?”
Armin thinks you’re so cute, the way you jut out your bottom lip. So cute and pathetic. The corners of his lips quirk upwards. It’s almost endearing how you say “mean” like it’s the worst thing a person can be.
“Am I being mean or am I being realistic?” The blond coos, “I’m your tutor, right? I know the best for you.”
He takes your silence as an invitation to goad you harder: “You’re only upset because I’m telling you what you don’t want to hear.”
You don’t notice the proximity until Armin lays his hand over yours, squeezing the soft flesh of your palms. His voice is gentle as he reassures you: “Hey, hey, don’t cry. It’s okay.”
He made you cry, but you don’t have it in you to pull away from the only semblance of comfort given to you. His chair scrapes the floor as he sets it right beside yours, wrapping an arm around you, encouraging you to lean your head against his shoulder.
It’s a little sad but this is probably the most physical contact you’ve gotten in a while. You’re an utter mess, and on top of all that, touch-starved.
You’re still sniffling like a crybaby, trying to sort your own emotions out. You take a few deep breaths and force yourself to face the facts:
You’re behind.
The class is too much work for you.
Armin’s right, you’re upset because he’s telling you what you don’t want to hear.
“D-do you really think I should drop the class?” Your voice is so defeated, a pinch louder than a whisper.
His long fingers play with the ends of your hair, “I know this class is really important to you and we both want you to do well...so why don’t we increase our tutoring sessions? Maybe we should meet three times a week.”
He smiles at you, and it looks so genuine. You’re immensely grateful, you are, but confusion washes over you, “Wow, Uh, that’ll be great actually but um, uni tutoring services is once a week...so-”
Armin dismisses your concerns with a gentle wave of his hands, “Don’t worry, It’ll be off the books. Think of this as private tutoring. Of course, we’ll have to start meeting in my room from now on.”
While he doesn’t elaborate on why you have to meet in his dorm, you assume Armin has a good reason and it probably involves university-sanctioned student-tutor guidelines.
You’re stammering out thank-you’s, still trying to rub the tears out of your eyes until you feel a soft handkerchief wiping them away.
“It’s okay, don’t worry.” He reassures, “Don’t use your sleeve. It’s too rough for your pretty face.”
You blush under his words, wide eyes locked into his oceanic blues, “I d-don’t know if I’ll be able to compensate you f-for the private tutoring.”
His eyebrows crease as he gives you a smile full of pearly teeth, “You don’t have to worry about that for now.” His hands graze over your knuckles, “We’ll figure something out.”
“Thank you Armin.” You say it so sincerely, trying to muster the biggest smile you can after the blond essentially trampled over your self-esteem to only nurse it back with sweet promises.
“Well, we better finish today’s work then.” He responds calmly, not bothering to detangle himself from you. You can feel his body heat radiating onto you, and how his hand moved to casually rest on your thigh. But that’s normal right? If you think about it, Armin was not exactly adverse to touch. During your past tutoring sessions, his hand would always be on the small of your back or shoulders.
“Hey, you’re not getting distracted again, are you?” His voice is playful like he isn’t sliding his hand up and down the span of skin between your skirt and tights. When you don't respond, he pinches your inner thigh, eliciting a startled gasp from you.
"Focus." It's a demand so it must be followed.
Embarrassed, you nod your head and return your focus to the problem sets even though your hands are shaky as you grip the ballpoint pen.
You don’t notice how the blond’s eyes gleam under the fluorescent lighting at your easy compliance. He’s always liked obedient girls.
Your thighs are growing warmer, and it doesn’t help to have Armin peering over you. Still, you try your best to lull yourself to focus until a ringtone breaks your concentration.
Armin breaks away from you to find his phone and you find your body subconsciously missing the warmth. He lightly curses under his breath once he sees the contact name, but answers nonetheless.
“Yeah...sorry babe. I forgot. I’ll be right over.” He sounds apologetic but he looks downright bored.
And like that, the call is over. He looks over at you with an apology falling from his lips, “Sorry about that. I forgot I had something to do today. We’ll end early.”
Your throat is dry as you ask, “Was that your girlfriend?” You regretted your words the moment they escaped. That was none of your business. It doesn’t matter if he was holding you earlier. He was doing so because you were bawling like a baby. But why did he touch your thighs?
That doesn’t have to mean anything, you rationalize. Besides, Armin would never make a move on you. He was a handsome senior with a perfect GPA and a powerful position in the student government. Stupid freshman girls like you are not worth the time he so generously gives out.
The blond smirks, seeming to notice your internal struggle, “Something like that. But don’t worry, I’ll make sure she won’t distract me from our future sessions.”
That was a puzzling comment. His girlfriend supposedly distracting from your study time wasn’t even a concern you held.
“No, no, that’s ok.” You quickly assure, “You’ve already helped me out so much.”
The blond pats the top of your head like you were a puppy, “I’d do anything for my cute little student.”
The way your face heats up with a dark blush should be criminal. All he did was pat your head, and you’re looking at him starry-eyed like he didn’t grope your thighs under the table. Honestly, all your cute little blubbering had gone straight to his cock. Annie would have to handle his big problem.
These private sessions are going to be fun.

You were checking your computer very unmotivated after seeing the message at the top of your emails.

You looked at the top of your screen and the calendar showed you June 5. You sighed. You had put off the date long enough. You rolled your eyes; you definitely didn't want to meet that famous Gojo Satoru whose reputation was pursuing him as a womanizer. You printed the necessary papers, took your phone and looked at the time, 17:49.
Well, I'll go quickly and go home, you thought. You salivated at the thought of your pizza waiting in your freezer. For once you could go home early and enjoy a quiet evening. You grabbed your bag and took a good stretch.
You headed for the elevator. Which floor again? You consulted your company's website and looked for his name in the contacts. His picture appeared first. Womanizer... you could see why all the women were behind. With that piercing blue gaze, and the peculiar color of his platinum hair, even you had to admit that he was more than attractive. Even on his profile, which was supposed to be professional, you could see that he had a little smile on his face, the photographer was certainly a pretty woman. You chased your thoughts and slid on his profile to see his office number: 711.
So, 7th floor, you clicked on the button that indicated the right number.
Once there you looked at the arrows indicating in which direction you should go. The one on the left indicated his office only.
-Son of... you whistled through your teeth; you have an office all to yourself... pfff... you muttered jealously.
His office must have been gigantic. And from where you were, you could see his door, framed by two large windows. You raised your eyebrows admiring the fact that his office was made of glass and that it certainly overlooked an extraordinary view.
You walked over and a few feet before the door, a desk was on your right.
You could read "Secretary" on the silver plate in the middle of the cabinet, but without the owner at her post. You thought about whether you could leave the documents here and go.
-Shit, thinking about the deadline that was today. You couldn’t leave not knowing if he saw them or not, plus you needed to discuss some points with him. Well, never mind let’s see if he’s here, you approached the door which was slightly opened.
Yes! you thought, that means he was still here, you put your hand to open it when you heard muffled sounds coming from inside. You reached out to see what was going on, to see if he was in a meeting with someone but the sounds were more and more like grunts. You closed your eyes and pursed your lips.
It's not what I think it is, right? you thought.
You reached out even closer and heard the moans of a man and those of a woman, whose mouth must have been currently occupied by the "slurp" sounds you could hear.
This was the worst... you thought. How could you interrupt this moment? You definitely weren't going to wait for him to finish his business, nor were you going to go in without being announced, embarrassing them. This is not the place to do that. You bit your lip at the thought, you weren't the one who could talk. You massaged your temple, thinking
-Shit, can you go faster or not?... he moaned from within.
Well, you had to get up the courage, otherwise you would never have made it home. You knocked twice.
-Mr. Gojo? Y/N L/N here, I'm supposed to drop off files for the updates Mr. Nanami requested. Can I leave them on the desk outside for you? you asked.
You heard a sharp muffled noise.
-No, bring them in here, he answered.
What? you thought.
-I need to see the files Mrs. L/N. Come in! he continued.
-What?! said the female voice inside.
You heard several gesticulations in the office before a young woman, slightly taller than you, came out, red with embarrassment. She put her hair back in place and walked towards her desk.
-Oh, and Miss Suwaga? The young woman turned around. Stay at your post, I've sent you the last of the appointments for the week. Finish this and you can go home.
She breathed and went back to her office with a quick step. You swallowed. You didn't know where to put yourself.
-Come in... he said in a deep voice.
You took the files clutched in your hands close to your pounding chest and closed the door behind you. He was sitting in the direction of his large bay window; you could see him from three-quarters. From there you could see that his shirt was down to one button, his hair was partially pulled back. He turned around in his chair to face you.
-Sorry for the wait, I was ... busy, he said, winking at you.
You looked at him and shrugged.
-Next time maybe try to make sure you're alone? you say dryly.
He slumped back in his large chair and crossed his arms behind his head.
-Oh? And the idea of being surprised? he asked you. Isn't that something that excites you?
A wave of electricity shot through your body, ending in your panties. Yes, it is. You had experienced it not long ago.
-I think the topic is off the table for our meeting, you answered him trying to face him. I'll cut to the chase. I'm here to drop this off, you handed him the documents. I need to discuss with you the importance of points 5, 9 and 14, if possible.
-5 June huh?... he said gently.
-Pardon?
He tapped his watch. You raised an eyebrow.
-Fortunately, that my activities saved you then.
You frowned your eyes trying to understand what he was getting at. He smiled.
-Usually I'm out by 5:30, and it would have been too late for you. Knowing Kento, he sent you these documents easily a week in advance... why did you wait so long to deliver them to me?
You couldn't tell him that you didn't want to meet him, that was not very professional...
-I'm on the right date, the rest doesn't matter.
-I'm not so sure about that thought but whatever. So, points 5, 9 and 14... he looked at them and typed some things on his computer. You discussed their implementation and every time you spoke, he looked at you intensely, in a way that made your whole back shiver. You didn't know if he was making you uncomfortable or if it was because of the excitement that was starting to build up in your body. You had to leave before you got to the end of that thought.
-I think we have everything, don't you? you asked, cutting off his gaze.
He tilted his head to the side looking you up and down.
-I have a few more things I'd like to go over with you, he said.
-Is this about our meeting? You asked.
He looked up at the ceiling, thinking.
-More or less, he continued.
-I'm listening then, you answered.
He tilted his head to the side, facing the glass that separated his office from the hallway. His secretary was still at her post, looking exasperated. He smirked.
-I must tell you something, he began. As you can imagine, you stopped me in a crucial moment, and you see I'm both frustrated because I'm currently very tight in my pants.
You widened your eyes.
-But at the same time, I'd like to thank you because it really wasn't incredible, what was going on I mean. He smiled at you, not taking his eyes off you.
-Shall I say “you are welcome”? you said in a playful tone.
His smile did not leave his lips, his tongue passing slowly between them. He rested his elbows on his desk, resting his head on his hands, staring at you. Your legs closed as if by automatic.
-I'd like to be the one to tell you "you're welcome", if you can follow what I'm getting at. I have the impression that you are not indifferent to me, right?
You pinched your lips.
-Well... he continued
He got up from his desk, walking around, you followed him with your eyes. He sat down on the edge, facing you, his legs level with your chest, which was quickening with your breathing. You didn't really know what to say, but to be honest, yes, it had an effect on you. More than you'd like to admit.
-Your face answers for you, baby, I almost don't need you to answer me, he says. I want to hear your beautiful voice...
-Gojo...
-Yes, he cut you off, I want to hear you shout that name, my pretty, under my movements.
The electricity that was flowing through you was really starting to burn, it was making you hot now.
-With your secretary outside? I'm having trouble...
-Oh? so if she's not there... is that a yes? But you see she has to work; she won't bother us... he says with a growing smile.
You swallow, what were you doing? Your pizza was waiting for you, your quiet evening. But deep down, you wanted to see if his reputation was based on anything real.
-Maybe, you say. But if you promise to contain your moaning, maybe I can get past it.
He grunted. So that was his kink? Being heard? Found out?
-Can you? he asked.
-It depends on how well my partner do, you said confidently.
-Confident huh, he said in a hoarse voice. He got up and went to lock the door, turning his secretary's head in your direction.
He signaled her to continue working through the glass.
When he turned around, he could see you starting to unbutton your dress, revealing your black lacy lingerie underneath. You easily let it fall to your feet and found yourself in front of him wearing only your underwear and semi-opaque tights.
He looked you up and down and swallowed. Perfect was the word on his lips. His erection already present since the beginning of your meeting was growing and soon would not be able to hold in his pants become too tight.
You infiltrated a finger on each side of your tights to remove it.
-No, wait! He unexpectedly shouted. I want to do it.
He licked his lips.
-Fuck, you are gorgeous, and I’m picky guy.
He took your head and dipped his tongue in your mouth making you moaned. He took you by the legs, wrapping them around his waist, your almost naked skin touching his exposed chest. You moaned at the contact of his erection on your clothed pussy. He opened his eyes to see your face, focused on your kiss. Oh, he was going to enjoy it. He pinned you down on the desk, his hands sliding down your legs. He got up from you, you opened your eyes slowly to see a semi-god in front of you taking off his shirt, your legs still wrapped around him, your hips starting little movements to rub against him. He smiled.
-Hun, hun, baby, putting his hand on your panties.
He rubbed his fingers against your pussy that only wanted him inside you. You shivered at the thought.
-You are not allowed to move without my permission. I give the orders in my office.
You swallowed and nodded.
-Good girl, he said in a deep voice.
He continued his caresses along your legs, stopping on your thighs and clutching them. He looked at you and smiled widely. You returned his gaze intrigued at what was going on in his head when you felt him suddenly pull on your tights, ripping them off completely, creating two gaping holes on your legs.
-Hey! but before you could continue, he pressed his mouth against yours.
You both moaned in your kiss. His hand slipped under your pantyhose, touching your skin, pinching you then caressing you, leaving little red marks behind. He pulled his hand out and came off from your lips, admiring you panting. He returned his gaze to your pussy, still hidden under too many layers, before tearing off the part of the pantyhose that prevented him from having access to it.
-Ah! you couldn't help but exclaim at the realization that your tights were completely ruined under his attack. Fuck... you felt his warm breath next to your panties, making you even wetter than before. Satoru... please~ you moaned.
-Hmmm, eager I see, he said while shifting your panties to the side having full access to your cunt.
He licked in one go; your pussy completely wet under his movements. He let out an animal growl.
-Tasty, he mumbled before nibbling one of your vaginal lips.
-Urgh! ~ you groaned. More! you begged, putting your hands on his head, in his silver hair.
-What did I say? He said stopping his movements. I give the orders here.
He raised an eyebrow waiting for an answer from you, you nodded slowly, wanting only one thing, that he makes a mess of you.
He returned his attention to your cunt which was just asking for his tongue. He licked one wall, then another, forcing you to gasp under the pleasure of his movements. He finally introduced his long tongue deep into you, making you widen your eyes, and a few tears of pleasure came to the edge of your eyes.
Under his erratic movements, he grunted. He was taking more and more pleasure; his boxers were so tight. He only wanted to take you on his desk until you couldn't walk anymore. He continued to move his tongue back and forth, before concentrating on your clit, biting it tenderly and sucking it repeatedly.
-Ah-ah-ah ~~, you moaned, tongue out. My god… fuck! uh-uh-uh…
He accelerated his movements understanding by your moaning louder and louder that he was doing things right, obviously. He withdrew from your pussy and licked all of your body slowly going up, until he reached your breast.
He easily inserted two long fingers inside you, while licking the contours of your chest. He lifted your bra with his other hand and sucked around your nipple. His fingers quickened the movements, feeling your hips trembling as if you were begging to him to go further. He circled around your clit, making you moaned of pleasure. He nibbled on your nipple before taking more of your breast into his mouth, leaving behind the sucking noises that were getting you off even more. Your pussy tightened at his movements, you felt yourself coming. You couldn't help but cry out in pleasure as he applied pressure to your sensitive spot.
-Hmmm, there yes…yess…ah-ah-ah~~ you moaned so loudly that you knew that the secretary had heard you, making you tighten even more around her fingers. You felt your orgasm coming, making all your legs and body shake.
-OH MY GOD! ~~ you screamed, letting the wave of pleasure take over.
He placed his lips on yours, still fingering you, with his fucking long finger, right through your orgasm. Your walls were clinching around his movements. His name was on your lips, and it was making him so fucking horny. He withdrew from you, letting you breathless on the desk. He let down his pants and started to palpate his dick under his boxer. He was so hard it was painful. You stood up on your elbows, watching him slowly undress before seeing what was waiting for you under his boxers.
-Want that? He asked.
You nodded.
-Ye-yess, I want it… you salivated.
-Suck it then, he ordered removing entirely his boxer, letting free his thick dick, moistened by his precum, decorated by long blue veins. You rolled your tongue over your lips at the thought of having him in your mouth.
You got down from the desk, walking towards him, once facing him you got down on your knees, gently licking his chest. He watched you descend on him, and you never left his sight.
-Mmmh, he moaned, yeah.
You took his cock in your hands, slowly starting to jack him off. You gave a few licks on the top, sucking on his precum which made him tilt his head back. His eyes met those of his secretary who had been looking in your direction for a few minutes now. She could make out your legs, but you were hidden behind the door. Gojo motioned for her to take note, imitating a pen and notebook with his hand, she glared back at him, red. She took her bag, turned around, he let out a laugh. she left the office.
He concentrated on you, who had just started to pump him, rolling your tongue along his member.
-Fuck, you're good, he said in a deep voice.
You took him deeper into your mouth, his tip touching the entrance to your throat. Your heat and wetness turned him on. He took your head and pushed it even deeper into him, holding you firmly. Tears gathered along your eyes and began to roll down. His cock was much too long for you. He pulled out before he pushed in.
-Oh fuck! Yeah!
He accelerated his movements with his hips fucking your mouth hardly. With each coming and going, his cock was pushing more and more into your throat, forcing you to gap on him. He grabbed your head even more, a few more strokes and he'd be able to get himself all the way into your mouth. The thought was already making him want to release himself into you. His movements accelerated and your mouth noises became louder and louder, your saliva and his precum mixing together. He took you out of his mouth, you were completely crying.
What a sight, he thought. You wrapped your hand around him while your jaw readjusted and jerked him off at a rapid pace.
-FUCK yes! Keep it up and I'll cum on you! Shit! UH~~ yes!
He was literally screaming with pleasure. The sun rays were shining through his hair, giving you a wonderful show, this man was the definition of beauty. You took it back into your mouth, pumping it at a steady pace, you felt him shaking, with each of your strokes. His head snapped back, pleasure taking over.
-Holy shit.... I'm gonna... huh-huh~~ cum... fuck!
You sucked his cock completely before diving back on top of him to take him completely, your nose touching his hair, the same color as those on top of his head. You felt him blocking you where you were, with his hands on your head, and his hips took over, moving back and forth at an almost hellish pace in your mouth. Your throat was now completely filled with him.
-Cumming! Huh! ~~ AH!
With one last thrust inside your mouth, he released his cum which went straight into throat, without you being able to do anything. His eyes completely closed, his head still back, his hands on your head and his hips still making little dry movements, as if to make sure you wouldn't let any drop out. He slowly came down from his cloud before watching you swallow the sperm; he had just released into you.
-Fuck that was amazing .... he moaned.
It had been a long time since he had felt so much pleasure from a blow job. Where have you been all this time?
You fell on your hands trying to catch your breath. He laughed at the sight. Confident not long ago, yet you were now on all fours in front of him, and clearly, he wasn't done with you. He took your arm, forcing you to stand up, he pushed his lips on you.
-Incredible, however now this will go into you.
You looked down, seeing that his cock was getting harder. How? In few seconds only… How?
You gasped when he lifted you, kissing you again and bringing you to his chair, next to the bay window, the last rays of sunlight caressing your skin.
-Honey… he said quietly, seeing you shining.
-Sit on me now, I'll take you in that position.
you nodded and placed a leg on each side before taking his cock in your hands, placing it at your entrance. You were soaked with excitement and the touch of his tip on your pussy made you moan.
You rubbed yourself against him, lubricating him before sitting on him, pulling him in more and more.
-Good girl, I'm not quite there yet," he said, watching your two limbs slowly connect. I want to be fully inside you before I let you see the 7th heaven...
You nodded and continued your descent into him, moving up and down to take him even more. You leaned on his head, forcing him to face your breasts still trapped in your bra. He left your slowly descending hips before pulling your bra down leaving your breasts exposed. He sucked on one before grunting, feeling almost entirely inside you. He thrust his hip into you before sneaking your hips into contact.
-Fuck, he steadied himself. Fuck, so tight…
Your eyes were completely closed at the thought of having him inside you. He lowered his head, seeing your juices sliding down your thighs and onto him. He licked his mouth and began to circle his hips so you could feel him all the way inside you. He saw your tongue fall out of your mouth, oh yes you liked that.
He was touching your sensitive points without any effort.
-Move. Now, he ordered.
You lifted yourself up before falling back on top of him, allowing him to see a bulge forming a few inches below your belly button.
He watched you make your moves, hypnotized by the appearance and disappearance of this bump. When was the last time he had faced his partner? For a long time now, he always took them from behind, avoiding meeting their eyes. Yet you, he wanted to see you get off on him. Your movements accelerated on him, your hands went down on his shoulders, your head tilted back. He felt that you were losing your balance, so he grabbed your hips, and started to move in you at a ferrous pace.
-AH! ~~ fuck ye-yessss! You cried.
He was hitting your cervix so easily. He was hammering in you, and you were just a ball of nerve under his contact. With each thrust, he left slap noises that made you so excited. His groans were also growing louder. Your tightness was taking him so good, applying pressure all around his dick.
-God dammit, he moaned, so, so good… ~~
He sped up and sucked on your other tit. You took back his head in your arm, pressing him completely against your chest. Your hands traveled his hair, as he was pounding inside of you. He pinched his lips, not knowing what sounds could still come out of his mouth. You were just a hot mess crying his name, cries that echo throughout his office.
-Huh… I’m cumming… Satoru… harder….
-Fuck… he groaned.
He accelerated his movements, but the chair preventing him from being completely free he got up, you in his arms the legs rolled up around him.
His cadence was animal, he was going to make you cum, and you couldn't take it anymore. He squeezed himself so hard that his cock was part of you. He was coming and going inside you, expanding you again and again, your walls were still adapting. Your pleasure juices were falling on the floor leaving drops gathering more and more on his immaculate marble. His thrusts were more brutal, you felt him coming and you only wanted one thing, his pleasure in you.
-Fuck! he shouted. He took almost all of himself out of you before forcing his hips back into you. I'm gonna fucking cum! In you… shit! ~~
-Ye-ess! inside me! yes! yes! fuck! harder! you screamed.
-You like that, huh! don't you? When I go deep inside you!
He pushed himself deep inside.
-Yes-yess! God, that's the best! Satoru! I love your cock! I love it! URGH! ~~
-ROHH! damn it! He shouted, his rhythm was unbearable.
You came with a loud scream almost falling backwards, but Gojo picked you up by your lower back. You let him do what he wanted with you, not having any energy left, he continued to piston up in your oversensitive pussy, all your nerves were on fire. How does he to still be standing, carrying you and hammering like that??
He was chasing his orgasm. His cock was getting deeper and deeper into you, with one last thrust he went deeper, spilling his hot cum deep inside you.
-Fuck!! he roared. YEAH~~.... fuck!
He let himself in even after a few minutes making sure his cum stayed inside you, even when you went home.
After many minutes he slowly pulled out and slumped back in his chair, you still in his arms. His office was completely dark, as night had fallen. You were slowly catching your breath. You began to remove your pantyhose completely torn off under your partner's hands.
-I don't think it's going to do me much good anymore... you say softly.
He laughed.
-Sorry about that, but I was getting too excited.
-Mmmh... you put your panties back on and slowly buttoned up your dress. You took your bag and pointed to the documents on his desk. Don't forget to fill out the last few items.
He turned to you.
-It takes only a few seconds to do that," he laughed.
-What? You said surprised.
-Yes... I didn't really need all your advice, but an excuse for you to stay. He winked at you, like it worked.
You sighed and picked up your bag.
-Well, Gojo Satoru, it was… nice to meet you, you said as you tapped on the folds of your dress.
-Likewise, likewise… he said closing the buckle of his pants. Can't wait to see the next updates... he snickered.
-Good evening, you answered him turning your back and waving.
-Oh and Y/N ! You turned to him. You are welcome, he said putting his vest on.
You smiled and turned back.
You left his office closing behind you. Ah, his secretary had left. You blushed at the thought that she must have heard you.
You exhaled thinking about your pizza. It’s going to be for another day.

titled — fuel to the fire
Tumblr media
It's been three days since you last spoke to Jeongguk (and four weeks since your break-up). Not about your relationship or the horrendous state your sudden break-up left you in, or about the fact that Jeongguk had moved on before your heart had even registered the cracks he'd left in his wake. No, not that – none of the actual life changing important stuff, only him briefly mentioning that you needed to hand in your event proposal for the student committee before the deadline approached. It was unbelievably strange to watch the person you'd basically surgically attached to your being behave like a complete stranger. It didn't help that he didn't seemed unfazed approaching you, while you on the other hand actively avoided him and all the usual corners of campus where he liked to lurk (which sucked because those corners were some of your favourites places too). But there he was, ambling to you with an ease that made your gut violently twist, acrid bile slithering up your throat.
He'd spoken so freely, the sound of your name on his tongue a brand on your skin. You'd frozen, heart a wild animal locked in your chest, before you could summon the mettle to look him in the face.
The first thing you noted was that his hair was no longer long. Dark locks cropped short around his ears now and casually gelled back, idle strands playfully framing his face. His features are what you settled on next, eager eyes remapping the sharp slope of his nose, easily identifying the sneaky dimple on his cheek begging to burst free and then shifting down to the dark mark right below his soft pink lips.
Your first instinct was to pull him into your arms but they were frozen, glued to the table beneath you before that blinding rage rose it's head, sparking through your veins the longer you looked at him.
He didn't even seem to realise it, rattling off the list of things you needed to email him for the spring scavenger hunt or else the event could be cancelled (which sucked because that was an idea you had created with Jeongguk and now you were stuck carrying the bulk of the event alone).
Your replies had been curt, blunt as they left your lips before you'd pointedly turned away. Maybe if you had looked a little longer you would detected the lingering gaze he granted your features, how he shuffled on his feet, unsure and hesitant, words on his tongue longing to be released. Eventually he had swallowed him down, mumbled a quick goodbye and wandered off, the hands shoved in the pockets of his baggy jeans aching to hold yours again.
You, however, didn't miss the muffled giggles of girls he passed on his way out, a sick icky feeling clogging your throat. You didn't mind the fan girls when you were dating because you knew Jeongguk was yours and yours alone. But now? When he'd moved on not even a weak after your break-up you didn't know how to feel. Jealous, maybe. Furious, absolutely. For a second, you considered throwing your mini stapler at their huddled heads, weighing the odds of possibly going to jail for assault. But there was no reason to truly justify that reaction, not when Jeongguk was single and apparently available for everyone. But did that feeling still brew inside of you? Turning into something black and vile and vengeful? Perhaps.
And maybe that's why you're here now, the body of some boy pressing against yours, your bare back prickling as the night wind grazes against it. The dress you'd plucked from your closet was criminal, clinging to the dips and rounds of your body perfectly, a silky emerald backless piece that shimmered beneath the soft lights of the porch you'd abruptly accoupled. His name might be Lucas – you may have been able to accurately remember that three drinks ago but you're beyond that now. And it didn’t really matter when all you wanted was for him to fuck you. He's also big and huge, massive shoulders caving you in, and his hands is snaking it's way up your thighs, ginger kisses peppered along the span of your neck.
Which is not what you wanted. Not in a one-night stand at least. You don't want soft and gentle, you want something wild – feral even. Something harsh enough to wipe the memory of Jeongguk's hands on your skin, something bright and fierce and new. Something to make you feel alive again.
Lucas gets the hint soon enough, spurred on by the bold movement of your hand guiding his closer, right between your thighs were you wanted him. Deft harsh fingers on your clit followed, pressing against the damp fabric with no remorse. You couldn't help the whimper that floats from your lips, the tension stringing through your limbs finally alleviated.
"Cute," he murmurs, seemly pleased judging from the broad smile that tugs at his lips. You make a noise of agreement in return, drawing in him for a kiss as the pad of this thumb toys with you. There's the sillage of whiskey on his tongue, something that nearly makes you freeze because you're used to tasting that on Jeongguk. But you beat down that apprehension, a muffled moan breaking past your lips when Luca's tongue mets yours.
"My place?" He suggests, lips glimmering from your lip gloss. You smile, a familiar giddiness bubbling in your chest when he shifts a little, hard bulge bumping into the base of your stomach. You give in a little bit more easily than you normally would have, clinging onto his hand as he guides you out of the party towards the neighboring building. Chayoung and Sieun are going to kill you later for this but you simply can't force yourself to care.
"You're in that frat?" You finally murmur out when he keys himself into the building. Lucas hums, glowing under the moonlight when he smiles at you.
"Mhm, Sigma Chi for life, babe."
Babe. A complete one-eighty from the bunny you'd grown accustomed to.
It hits a little harder when he gets you into his room, the mess unlike anything you'd ever seen at Jeongguk's (he's very anal but his room and how clean it should be, specific down even to the various scents he kept around to ensure the air he breathed was perfect). Lucas was the average frat boy, messy but neat enough that you find yourself naked on his bed a couple moments later, his tongue deep inside of you. Your brain couldn't help but recall the last time a head had settled between your thighs, Jeongguk eager to lick out the pool of cum he'd left there. But this wasn't him and as of five seconds ago you decided you’re no longer allowed to think about him.
Lucas makes it easy, tongue skilled and swift around your clit, a fervour in his movements that leaves you dripping down his chin. Jeongguk evaporates from your mind entirely when Lucas descends on you, his mouth glistening and his tongue tasting of you. His kisses are hungry now, forceful, just what you need. Your palms stray down his wide back, a strange tingle erupting in your gut when your nails dig and he groans right down your throat.
"You're so big," the comment is a mumbled slur, lost in Lucas's mouth. For a second, you think he misunderstands, his hard cock twitching against your thigh. You're actually talking about his shoulders; they're broad, muscles rippling every time he shifts to press you harder into the mattress. You like the weight of him on you, it makes forgetting easier.
But Lucas knows what you're saying, discerning your wandering fingers and clouded eyes well.
"I know," he returns with lopsided smile. "Perks of swimming."
Oh, of course he was an athlete. Maybe you had a type after all.
Before Jeongguk has a moment to resurface Lucas has you in his arms, easily twisting you around so that your face is buried in his sheets. It short-circuits you, brain sparking with how large and huge and strong he feels. The following sudden press of his lips against your ass doesn’t help, your heart thumping loud in your head as your shuffle onto your elbows.
"Good?" Lucas asks, rising to fetch a condom from his drawer.
"Mhm," you return, thighs trembling when he returns. He easily lines himself up with you, the head of his cock pressed into you coaxing a low groan from your throat. The first thrust hurts, probably because you're body isn't as on board with this as you thought. But that changes quick when Lucas's hand slides underneath you, swiftly settling on your clit until you're leaking around his length, skin tight with tension and sweat beading along the length of your back. The stretch feels strange – he's larger than Jeongguk, wider. At first it's too uncomfortable to feel good. Your senses narrow on the sound of your meeting instead, loud and lewd, your pussy squelching with every drag of his cock inside of you. The ripple of your ass helps you relax too, a pleasant almost dizzy feel spreading through your body when Lucas draws you closer, shoving himself deep inside, the whine floating from his lips painting your skin warm. He fucks you hard enough to leave marks, large fingers digger into your hips with every resounding collide of your bodies. You shiver when he finishes, a grimness appearing on your skin. It's vanished by Lucas tugging you close, his mouth light on your lip as he kisses you, cock slowly slipping out.
It feels better the second round. He's perceptive, quickly learning how you like your clit touched, or that you like when his teeth sink into your skin rather hard. You actually cum this time, spread open over his massive strong thighs, his length splitting you open, the stretched welcomed.
You forgot about Jeongguk and your sore heart for a total of two wonderous hours, before your phone starts blaring from your discarded mini-bag on the floor. Lucas is the one that gets it for you.
"Hi?"
"Y/N! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?" Chayoung's tone is aggrieved, wavering through the sound of some song blasting in the background.
"Oh. I left." You hope she gets it, doesn't press any further. But what was Chayoung if not a button pusher?
"WHERE? YOU WENT HOME? WHEN?"
"No, I'm not home. And awhile ago." Lucas is pointedly not listening, pattering through the adjacent bathroom of his room. The pressure ebbs when he turns the tap on loud.
"WHAT?"
"I said I'm not home! And please stop yelling!"
There's a loaded pause. You can feel Chayoung thinking through the line. "Okay... Who are you with?"
"Fine, yes I'll meet you there," you say instead, completely ignoring her question. Lucas is out of the bathroom now, massive and still naked as his knee sinks into the mattress. He crawls to you as you scramble to get out, phone wedged between your shoulder and ear. "Yeah, yeah I know I'm sorry. I'll come get you."
"What the hell are you talking about Y/N? Who are you with?" Chayoung's words are bitter now, stinging as they hit your ear.
"Gimme five seconds, I'll be right there," you return, swiftly cutting the call. Chayoung is going to kill you the second you see her but you'd rather attempt to live through that than Lucas overhearing you gossip about him on the phone with your friend. The man in question is watching you with a chary gaze as you hurriedly tug your dress over your head. "Sorry," you supply, pulling the hem down hard over your butt. "My friend needs me."
He nods slow, strawberry blond locks swaying. He's actually very hot, an observation that has you stilling for a second.
"Cool. See you around, yeah?" His eyes are round and big, bright even – almost like Jeongguk's. That breaks the spell.
"Yeah, see you around." And then you take the chance to flee, bag swung over your shoulder. Except Lucas halts you with a low cough, raising his hand, something bunched up in it.
"You forget this, though." It's your underwear, red and lacy. Your cheeks match the colour of fabric, flushed hot as you pluck it out of his wide palm. Lucas watches you slip them on with a smug smile, one that you should hate but there's a humour in it that blooms through you. He lets you part with a fond squeeze of ass when he gets up to open the door, still grinning.
"See you, Y/N," he says, leaning against the doorframe. He's very tall too, how did you miss that?
"Yeah," you squeak back, eyes shifting from his face with speed. "See you."
He's not Jeongguk, and that's good. He also makes it easy for you to forget about Jeongguk, another plus. And you can't help but wonder as you scurry back to the party, that it might be nice to see him again.
That sentiment gets jumbled when Chayoung avidly spills to you later that she'd stumbled into Jeongguk with his hands tangled with another girls, leading her right out of the party as Lucas had lead you. It stings, of course it does, but not as much as the first one. Not when Lucas is in your DMs, his messages sweet albeit corny, and you can still recall the taste of you on his tongue.
But despite everything, even with Jeongguk a new stranger and Lucas's body warming yours, you haven’t truly let go. You can feel it in how you cling to the clothes Jeongguk had left in your closet. He hadn't requested to come pick them up yet, a fact that keeps a wedge in the door you're not sure you can close alone. Your heart still spikes when you see him on campus, and there's a home game coming around the corner that you're longing to go to. Because you still want to see him. Still want to be by his side Sometimes it felt nice to want to forget but you couldn't – not yet at least, not until you know whether he wants to forget about you too.

The Winter Slump
Hello!
Today, we're taking a peek inside the editorial side of things and talking about what I affectionately refer to as the "winter slump."
What is the Winter Slump?
The winter slump is the period between the week of American Thanksgiving and the first week of January when things get slow in the world of comics publishing. Something I talk about a lot on this blog is just how many people go into making every single comic. I work on a lot of licensed comics, so in addition to the writer, the artist/art team (pencillers, inkers, colorists, etc), letterers, designers, and any other editors I might be working with for creation of the comic, I'm also working with accounting folks and licensors who review the material and sales and marketing folks and printers and distributors and whoever else--all before it gets to the shop who gets it to you. A copy of Sonic the Hedgehog or Batman or whatever passes though a lot of hands.
But that also means that when we reach the extended holiday season in the U.S., there are more opportunities for one or more of the people in the chain to not be around. People take vacations, offices close, etc. Combined with the inherent nature of how long it takes for comics to be printed and distributed, it means any comics that are still in production this time of year are actually for release in the following year. So, editors like me find ourselves looking at a desk with no more books for this calendar year, various people we work with taking off, and hopefully, a tight hold on what's left to do as the clock on 2022 runs out. Work slows down a bit. What that opens up is more time for things that've been delayed and future planning, and that's why this time should matter to you, even if you aren't in editorial.
How does it help you?
Now is a good time to touch base with someone you've been wanting to work with editorially. They might not have anything at the exact moment, but they might be planning for late '23-2024 and know that in January or February they're going to be looking for folks and this is a chance to get back on their radar early. If you're hoping to hear back on a portfolio, now might be a good time to bump it back up their inbox. For example, I made my plans for the next work week at the end of this week and the majority of what I'm doing is getting back to people who have been very patiently waiting for a longer response and getting my future planning done. It's not a bad thing to touch base at a time when you expect editors and other hiring folks might have more flexibility than usual.
The caveat to all of that is editors are people too. They may be out of office for whatever reason around this time period. And if something's on fire, because they may be suffering from reduced support along the chain, they might have even less time than usual. There's the risk that you might still not get what you're hoping for, but the risk isn't any worse than at any other time you're emailing an editor, but the chances of a faster and more thorough response are higher.
What should you say?
So, editors might have more time because things are slower on their end. You wanna take advantage of that. What do you say to them? There are three main tactics.
1. The holiday check-in! Simple and easy, if you're just looking to touch base briefly, you can always drop them a line saying you hope they have a good holiday season. Maybe you can include a digital holiday card you drew, which usually goes over well.
2. The helping hand! If you genuinely have time in your schedule, reaching out to an editor and saying "hey, I'm still around and free through the end of the year if you need help on X" might be the solution to a problem they have. Since remaining deadlines tend to be tight this time of year, you might manage to offer your assistance at just the right time to get something done, which the editor will remember.
3. The portfolio follow-up! It doesn't necessarily have to be for your portfolio, but if you emailed an editor previously and haven't heard back yet, sending a follow-up specific to whatever you had originally contacted them about is not a bad idea. If it is related to a portfolio--including a writing portfolio--sending an "end-of-year" update can be really nice. Take it as a chance to brag about what you've done in 2022.
Whatever you do, just remember to be polite and understanding as it's a hope this editor's actually got a winter slump.
And just to get ahead of things: I'm only sending out two more updates this year! Not sure what next week's will be, but 12/17 I've got some goodbyes to say to something important to me. We'll be off the last two weeks of the year and back in January after that!
Things I've been enjoying this week: Getting the first gifts wrapped and under the tree. The Tick (TV show). Candy canes. Honkai Impact (Video game). Sonic Frontiers (Video game). Chainsaw Man (Anime & Manga). Spy x Family (Anime). My Hero Academia (Anime). Uzaki-Chan Wants to Hang-Out (Anime). My Lovey-Dovey Wife is a Stone Cold Killer (Manga). A couple of WIPs I've got going. Our Pokemon card advent calendar. My friend Zac Boone who I got to see yesterday for a bit. The Simpsons (TV show). According to Spotify and adding in my non-Spotify listening, I listened to Lizzo for over 24 hours this year! That's pretty good! And the Rise of the Beasts trailer looked alright, as did the new Indiana Jones one!
New Releases this week (11/30/2022): Godzilla Rivals: Vs. Gigan (I didn't actually work on this, but the team that did is awesome and you should check it out)
New releases next week (12/7/2022): Sonic the Hedgehog #55 (Editor) Transformers: Best of Windblade (Editor--our penultimate TF book) Godzilla Monsters & Protectors: All Hail the King #3 (Editor! My first Godzilla book!)
Final Order Cutoff--Last chance for your store to guarantee release day copies for you (12/5/2022): Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island #4
Pic of the Week: I got new glasses and I think they look pretty sharp. I like the frames on my face.

Also, speaking of Rise of the Beasts, just a reminder that Beast Wars Vol. 3 is available in my shop now!

Sexual Tension-Roman Reigns
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be a casual night out with friends, until he showed up.
He catches your eyes from across the room, smirking at you as he cockily walked over to you. "Did that boyfriend of yours finally let you out for the night?" Roman asks you, and you roll your eyes.
"He's not my boyfriend." You tell him, and the bartender hands him a drink.
"Is that why he's staring?" He asks, and you turn your head to see that he was in fact, staring.
"He's just a friend." You tell Roman, who chuckles lightly. "What?"
"If that's what it takes to be friends with you, maybe you should upgrade." He says, and you roll your eyes at him again.
"Is that so?" You ask him, and he scoots closer to you.
"Don't tempt me, baby girl. You have no idea what I'm capable of." He tells you before venturing off.
"You two are something else." Carmella tells you when you walk back over to your table.
"He's an ass." You tell her, and she shakes her head at you. "What?"
"Oh come on, you can cut the sexual tension with a knife." She says as yall sit down at the table.
"Who has sexual tension?" Corey asks. "Roman, and Y/N?"
Carmella laughs, nodding her head. "Will you two stop? There's nothing there."
"Y/N, I love you sweetheart, but that tension is so fucking thick." Nia says, and you roll your eyes looking over at Roman who was looking at you.
"If she says there isn't any tension, then there isn't any. So stop pestering her." Baron says, and you roll your eyes again. He was so in love with you, it was insane.
"How about you all shut up about it, and we take some shots?" You ask, and they all start cheering.
***
The following week, Roman had somehow got your number and wouldn't stop texting you about the dumbest little things.
You were currently at a local coffee shop, working on your article when he walked in. He approaches your table, and sits down across from you. "Busy here, Reigns." You tell him, and look up.
"Oh come on, just five minutes?" He asks, and you sigh, setting down your pen. He smirks when he sees he has won momentarily. "So, how's your day?"
"Fine." You tell him, shrugging your shoulders.
"Just fine?" He asks, and you nod your head. "Anything I can do to make it better?"
"Very cliche, but no. I have a deadline, and really need to get this done." You say, breathing out in frustration.
"What is it you're working on?" He asks, walking around to slide into the booth next to you.
"Oh, it's nothing, really." You tell him, but he's already looking over the pages.
"Wow, this is really good." He says, sounding surprised. "Your writing style is unique."
"Really? You think so?" You ask him, and he turns to look at you, nodding his head. "Well, thanks."
"You really are just full of surprises, aren't you?" He asks, and you look into his eyes, shrugging your shoulders.
He places one hand on your right thigh, patting it before sliding it up, and down. When he notices that you don't move his hand, he leans in closer to you. "What else are you hiding?" He whispers, his lips inches from yours.
"Hey, there you are!" Baron yells, making Roman squeeze his eyes shut, and pull away from you. "Sorry, did I interrupt?"
Roman stares a hole through him before grabbing his keys, and saying nothing as he walks out of the coffee shop.
***
You were back at the club again, sitting at a table with your friends, looking to see if Roman would show. "Looking for Roman, huh?" Alexa asks you, and you laugh knowing you got caught.
"Uh, yeah actually." You tell her, and she goes to say something else when he walks in at that moment. He quickly scans the room before meeting your eyes, and he smirks at you.
"Go talk to him." Alexa says, and you shake your head. "Come on, what's the harm?"
"I'm actually going to use the bathroom, I'll be back." You tell her, and make your way there when Baron stops you as you're about to go in.
"Y/N. Listen, there's something I need to tell you. I've liked you for a while, and I wanted to see if you'd like to go out sometime?"
"I appreciate the gesture, but I'm just not looking for anything at the moment. You're a good friend." You tell him, and disappointment flashes over his face.
"It's Roman, isn't it? The dude doesn't know personal space, Y/N." He scoffs.
"First of all, it doesn't matter who I'm spending my time with. That is MY decision, and I will not have you or any man tell me what's best for me."
"Fine, be a dumb bitch then. Because once he fucks you, he'll never call you again. Especially with someone of your weight." He says, and your jaw drops.
"What the fuck did you just say to her?" Roman appears out of the dark room. Baron looks like he just shit himself. "Are you seriously that insecure that you're targeting her weight, which by the way, is not a problem, to try and win here?"
"Fuck off, Roman. Everyone knows how you are. You'll fuck her, then leave her crying for weeks because you don't show any affection towards her. She's stupid for even being affected by you."
"And now you want to name call?" Roman asks him, and grabs him by the collar. "You have exactly thirty seconds to get the fuck out of here before I do something I'll regret." He let's go of Baron, who walks off.
"Thank you. I didn't need you to do all of that, but thank you." You tell him, and he steps closer to you. "He's right though, I mean I could lose him few pounds."
"No, don't do that. Don't let him in that brilliant head or yours. He's just insecure. He was upset that you turned him down." He says, and takes your hand, pulling you into a private bathroom. "Let's get you cleaned up."
He sits you down on the counter, and you hand him some wipes from your purse to fix up your face. "You dont have to do all this, Roman. Go back to your boys." You tell him, and he throws the wipes away.
"If I didn't want to he here, I wouldn't be." He says, and steps closer to you. His thumb brushing over your cheek, and he leans in, brushing his nose against yours before closing the distance.
His lips were soft against yours, and you grab the back of his neck. He wraps your legs around his waist as he pulls you closer to him.
He pulls away, slowly, resting his forehead against yours. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that." He says.
"Really?" You ask him, and he nods. "Then do it again." He looks at you before connecting your lips again. You tug at the roots of his hair, and he groans into your mouth before pulling away again.
"If I keep going then I won't he able to stop." He tells you, and you pull him closer to you.
"What if I don't want you to stop?" You ask him, and he stares at you.
"I'm not sure you're aware of what you're asking for, baby girl." He says with a chuckle.
"Please?" You ask him, and he pulls you from the counter.
"My place or yours?" He asks as you reach his car.
"Yours." You tell him, and he smirks before pulling out of the parking lot.
***
"Holy fuck your place is huge." You tell him as you pull in his driveway. He shakes his head at you before leading you inside.
"Follow me." He says as he makes his way upstairs, and into his bedroom, which is filled with books.
"Wow." You gasp, as you take a look around. "You have so many."
"Mhm." He says, his hands on your waist. "What's your favorite?"
"Book? I have a lot of favorite books." You tell him, and reach out to grab one.
"Tell me about one or your favorite books." He whispers before placing his lips on your neck. You stumble over words as you try to talk to him while his lips were all over your neck. His hand trails up your inner thigh before rubbing you over your lace panties.
Your head falls back onto his shoulder, and he continues to tease you. "What do you want, baby girl?" He whispers in your ear.
"You. I need you to touch me, please." You bed, and his fingers move your panties to the side.
"You're so wet for me." He says as he finds your clit, rubbing it in circles. You gasp at the contact, and he bites down onto your neck. "Feel good baby?"
"So good." You tell him, and your knees start to grow weak as he held your body to his. He slides his fingers down to your hole, inserting two fingers inside. "Fuck."
"You're so tight." He groans, his thumb finding your clit again. "You're already squeezing my fingers. Need to cum already?"
"Please." You beg. "It's been so long."
"You want my tongue?" He asks, and you nod your head. "Words, baby."
"Yes." You tell him, and he removes his fingers from you, picking you up, and taking you to the bed.
He bunches your dress up, removing your panties before pressing his tongue to your clit. You moan loudly, and he slides his two fingers inside of you. "Fuck, Roman."
"That's it baby, scream my name." He says, and your back begins to arch.
"I'm not going to last long." You pant, and look down at him. The sight, knocking you over the edge as you grab onto his hair, and ride his tongue as you ride out your high. "Fuck."
He pulls you to stand, pulling your dress over your head, and he starts to unbutton his shirt, peeling it off his body. He had a massive tribal tattoo. "Samoan." He answers the question you were asking mentally.
You sit up on your knees, tracing over it, and you see his goosebumps rise from the effect. "I'd like to learn about it one day." You tell him, and he nods at you.
He throws his belt to the ground before pulling off his pants, and you look at the bulge in his pants. "Not going to run off now, are you?" He asks, and you shake your head. "Good."
He grabs the back of your neck, pulling you in for another kiss, and you dip your hand into his boxers, grabbing his length. He pulls his boxers all the way down, and you begin to pump him. "You going to wrap those pretty lips around me, baby girl?" He asks you.
You lay down on your stomach while he was on his knees, and you lick up the base of his cock. You swirl your tongue around the head before taking him all the way in your mouth. He tenses, and grabs onto your hair as you begin to bob your head up, and down. "Fuckin perfect." He groans, and you moan onto his cock, making him grip your hair even tighter.
You reach down to cup his balls in your hand while you take him as far as you can get, choking on him. "Such a good girl." He groans, and you pull off for air. He grabs you by your chin, pulling you up so that he can kiss you again before pushing you back onto the mattress.
"Fuck, I think I'm out of condoms." He curses.
"It's okay, I'm on the pill." You tell him, and be nods before bending down to kiss you again.
"You want me to fill you up with my cum, don't you baby?" He asks, and you nod at him. He sits up, dragging his cock up, and down your folds before pushing in. You gasp at the size, and he pushes all the way in.
"Hoky fuck." You groan, and look at his biceps that were on either side of your head. Jesus.
"You are so fucking tight baby girl." He groans, bending down to kiss you again.
"Move, daddy." You tell him, and watch as his eyes flick to almost a solid black. You bite your lip when he pulls out, and slams into you.
"Oh no you don't. Let daddy hear you, baby." He says, pulling your lip from your teeth.
"Go faster then." You taunt him, and he raises his eyebrows at you. He sits back, grabbing your hips, pulling out, and slamming back into you over and over.
"This what you wanted? Hmm?" He asks, his thrusts picking up speed. "Daddy's little slut is just greedy, isn't she?"
You reach for his hand, wrapping it around your throat, and he realizes this, laughing. "Dirty fucking girl."
"You mad about it?" You ask him, and surprise him by pulling him toward you to flip the two of you over. You sink down onto him, and ride his cock.
"Fuck, who are you?" He gasps, his hand still wrapped around your throat. "That's it, ride daddy's cock baby."
"You like that?" You ask him, bending down to kiss him. His hand comes down hard on your ass, and you moan against his lips.
"You really think you're in control right now, don't you?" He asks, and you shrug your shoulders. He quickly flips you over, throwing one of your legs over his shoulders, going deeper. You moan loudly, and he smirks down at you. "That's what I fucking thought."
"Roman." You whine, he moves to bite down on your neck. "Fuck. You feel so good."
He moves up to suck on your earlobe, driving you insane. "My girl. Aren't you baby?"
"Yes." You breathe out, and he kisses down your neck again until he takes one of your nipples in his mouth.
"Now, look at daddy while you cum all over his cock." He tells you, and you whimper at the words. "Be a good girl for me, and cum."
"I'm go-" you can't finish, as your orgasm rips through you, and he rests his forehead against yours.
"That's it. Good girl." He groans as he fucks you through your high.
"Fill me daddy." You tell him, and he thrusts into you fast, his head in the crook of your head, and shoulder.
"Fuck, Y/N." He groans, and you feel him cum inside you. "God damn." He pulls his head back to look at you before kissing you softly. "You are something else."
"I hope that's a good thing." You tell him, giggling.
"Trust me, it's a good thing. How am I supposed to stay away from you now?" He asks, and you kiss him again.
"You don't." You tell him, and by the look in his eyes, you can tell that he won't.

Professor Simpson (AU) | Brad Simpson
Chapter one: you can call me Brad
You're sitting in the auditorium waiting for your English professor to arrive. You're in your second year of English literature. The professor who gave English last year is retired so he will be replaced from this year. Everyone in your class is excited to know who the new English professor is. You hope he isn't as old as the last one. He was so boring people were literally sleeping in his class.
Suddenly a young man enters the auditorium. You think he is a new student until he goes to the front of the room and spreads out his stuff on the desk. The man has dark brown curly hair.
"Hello everyone, you're probably wondering who I am. Well, I'm your new English professor since professor Jones retired last year"
"Damn, he is hot", you hear someone say next to you.
And she is right, he is really attractive.
"I'm professor Bradley Simpson, I expect that you always address me as professor or mister Simpson."
"Oh mister Simpson", the same person whispers to her friend.
You role your eyes at the girl her expressions but you can't deny the feeling in your stomach. Something about mister Simpson attracts you.
He starts the class with explaining what you will do for the rest of the year, what this year will be about. Last year you had to do a lot of grammar and other theoretical stuff but this year it's finally more about writing and reading.
"I hope everyone has read the book professor Jones said you had to read this summer? We will be talking about that in the first weeks, we will be analysing it. If you haven't read it you will have a very hard start of the year so I would recommend to still read it, okay. So who has read it?"
Your hand is the only one that rises besides four other students in the auditorium. Mister Simpson looks through the room. His eyes find yours and linger there for maybe a little longer than they should be. The feeling in your stomach returns.
The class continues and professor Simpson analyses the first few chapters of the book. You write down everything he says or writes on the blackboard but your eyes are glued on his presence when you're not writing. You try to shake the feeling off of you but you can't. There is something mysterious about him that you want to find out. Mister Simpson's eyes always find yours when he looks through the room.
When class is over you pick your books and walk as fast as you can to the door. You want to escape, you need air. But someone stops you by calling your name.
"You're miss y/l/n, right?", you nod, surprised he knows who you are.
"Yes", you say a little confused.
"Right, professor Jones has told me a lot about you. You were the best in his class and wanted to ask you something but never came to it. He wanted and still wants that you participate in the national writing contest. You delivered him some drafts you had last year. I've read them too and I think you make a great chance."
"The national writing competition? That's one of the biggest competition's in literature", you say shocked.
"Yes, look I will guide you through the process but most of it you have to do by yourself. I'm convinced you're the right person for this, just as mister Jones. So what do you think?"
"I'm kinda surprised by it, can I have some time to think about it?"
"Of course, but not too long. The deadline to apply for the competition is next week 9PM, I know it's a big step but it will also be good to get a job later, you'll have some experience that others don't, you can use that"
"I'll think about it, thank you professor Simpson", you say.
"You're welcome miss y/l/n, I expect an answer as soon as possible", mister Simpson says with a wink, making you blush.
As fast as you can you make your way out of the auditorium. You need some fresh air, you need to think. You don't even know why he has this effect on you. You've never had it before and it's confusing you. For a second you forget about the competition. It's a great chance that you want to take but if you want to do it you have to put this feeling to the side. He's basically your mentor then, you can't act weird around him.
***
The next few days you think about what you will do with the competition. You also try to avoid professor Simpson in his class and in the halls, he can't influence your decision. His next classes are still about the book which isn't very difficult for you as you've read it before. You see that other people are struggling hard to keep up with it. Other students are just looking, gazing, drooling over mister Simpson. Professor Simpson tries to find your eyes more than once in his classes but fails as you just keep staring at your books.
It doesn't matter how hard you try to avoid him because today he needs an answer, you need to see him today. He has sent you a mail yesterday to come to his office at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, which is right after his class.
When mister Simpson says that class is over for today you run to the door as fast as you can. You need to prepare to see him. You open the door to the bathroom and go to the sinks. You place your hands on each side of the sink to find some support.
"You can do this, you're not going to let him distract you y/n", you say to yourself in the mirror before splashing some water in your face.
5 minutes later you're standing before the door of his office. You knock and immediately the door swings open.
"Y/n, come in so we can talk", he says with a smile that kills.
You look up at him and immediately his eyes are fixated on yours. He has hazelnut brown eyes with a golden touch. They are the most beautiful eyes you've ever seen.
You enter the office and sit down on the chair before his desk. Mister Simpson sits down on the chair on the other side. He puts his elbows on the table and intertwines his fingers in a gesture that shows that he is interested in your answer.
"So miss y/l/n what have you decided?", he asks.
"I'm going to do it because it's such a big opportunity and I want to thank you for giving it to me mister Simpson", you explain, "and you can just call me y/m"
"That makes me really happy, then we can immediately start talking about what you're going to write", professor Simpson says.
"I have a few ideas but I want to work them out on paper before I discuss it with you", you answer honestly.
"That's okay, I suggest we discuss it next week same time then", mister Simpson says while he gets off of his seat and sits down on his desk again so he is in front of you.
His close presence is making you nervous. He knows all to well what effect he has on you already.
"That's okay for me professor Simpson", you stutter.
"Oh y/n, call me Brad please", he smiles.
"Okay, I should go now", you say while standing up from your seat, "bye mi- Brad"
To be continued...
