#the difference between tumblr and instagram is wild

This is sooo early Love x Fae!Ghost coded like you bet his ass is crawling out from under the bed to finish the job before Tapping her silly. And if the bf goes missing shortly after…is anyone really gonna notice? (Submitted as screenshots cause it seems like the Instagram link was broken. Clarissa Wild be WILDIN like god damn)
God damn, that's wild. Who in their right mind would want to write something like- Me, I'm going to write it. Thank you Maelstrom.
(the first half of this is lost to tumblr's whims, rip some of the best creepy Ghost I've ever written. I love this man, obsessed with his obsession)
Ghost’s shadows boil with anger, their tendrils licking at the walls of your bedroom from where he stands in the corner. He tips his head, watching you. In bed with someone else already. Your body craves something your mind doesn’t remember, of course you’d seek out whatever pleasure you could, try to supplement the ache that he left you with. Despite being hidden from human perception, squeezing himself into the cut shadows of your home, your eyes keep touching on him. Drifting to the corner your lamp doesn’t touch, to the shadows that seem deeper and darker than the others.
Good.
You still know who you belong to, who sweetened your heart for slaughter and let you go again. You tip your head back, stretch your neck to avoid the seeking kiss your partner catches against your jaw. The soft noises you make are so different from the desperate panting moans that Ghost knows so well. It’s cute, like you’re putting on a show for him. You arch your back, try to force your partner’s cock deeper, desperate to have him hit all the lovely spots that Ghost knows he’s drilled into you. You’re not made for this pathetic display, you’re made for him.
He could scoop you up right then, when you stare into the shadows and give a quiet “please.” Oh, he knows all the noises you make, and that isn’t one of them. He knows you desperate, knows you needy and pleading, knows you with blood in your mouth and gold in your veins. The man you’re with seems to take that as satisfaction, his thrusts growing more frantic, finally pushing a genuine moan out of you, before he stills with a groan. Your hands fall from his shoulders to rest against the bed like they’ve been ejected from him. He pulls out, and mumbles something about disposing of the condom, needing a shower, anything to hide his mediocrity.
You give him a thumbs up. Pathetic.
The bathroom door closes and Ghost swirls his shadows around the lock as he steps from his hide. Your eyes dart to him immediately, wide with fear as you scramble up to push yourself against the headboard. You turn to shout for your partner and Ghost grabs your face, pressing his palm against your mouth to silence you before he taps your forehead.
You go lax in his grip, eyes far off and dreamy, unfocused and affectionate as you stare at him. Ghost releases his hold, dragging his knuckles against your jaw. He watches your soft smile, the way you press into his touch and turn to kiss his glove, and feels something possessive gnaw at his heart.
“You miss me love?” He knows you did, knows it as plainly as he can feel your grip on his wrist, holding his palm to your cheek. Still it twists painfully in his chest to hear your quiet, “yes.”
Ghost grabs your ankle and drags you down the bed, forcing you to lay down again. You spread your legs so eagerly for him. His perfect love, utterly and entirely his, such a well trained pet. He presses his fingers to your lips and you part them just enough to bite the soft leather of his gloves. Ghost slips his hand free to slide his fingers between your legs.
Poor thing, so wet and with no release. He pushes a thick finger into you, thrusting gently to collect your slick before dragging his finger back up to circle your clit. Just on the rough side of gentle, always exactly what you need. You watch him watching you, your lips pouting and your brows drawn together as he rubs his fingers against you.
You whine, your hips jumping, and Ghost pushes his mask up. Well trained.
His tongue licks over your cunt, and Ghost feels some of the tension leave his shoulders at the first taste of you. He’s kept you so well fucked for weeks, of course you’d miss it. That doesn’t mean anyone else can compete with him. Not when he eats you like a man starved, his tongue fluttering against your clit before he closes his lips around it and sucks. He works his fingers into you, the thick digits stroking your walls and pushing up against your soft spongy spot. Ghost knows every weakness in you, knows every string to pull and nerve to work.
You clench on his fingers, your hands pushing against his mask. His shadows twist in your grip, wrap themselves around you covetously as you claw at the monster settled between your legs. He knows every one of your moans, your whines high and tight, dissolve into begging pleas. You can hardly seem to get through one before your voice breaks on another. Ghost has never heard his name sung so sweetly as it does when you gasp it. He drags his tongue up your slit in long lapping licks, drinking down your slick greedily.
He pushes his free hand against your stomach, feels it jump at his touch, you’re so soft. He never should have let you go.
His fingers twist inside of you, and you arch your back to push your hips down against them. Pretty, pretty, pretty. His perfect, perfect, love. When you beg him, “please, please” it’s not his orgasm that he thinks about.
“Come on sweetheart,” He tells you, low and rough, he feels like an animal. His mouth waters at the sight of you, his teeth sharp and itching to bite, you’d be a meal he never forgot. One he’d regret for the rest of his life. “You wanna cum, you know how to ask.”
“Please Simon,” you murmur, your voice so soft it sends a shiver through him. Ghost feels his form shake, the ripples of his name like a shockwave to his shadows. He growls, presses his teeth to the soft skin of your thigh, and wills himself to bite. He can’t. He can’t hurt you, not when you-
Some tether between you snaps, and he feels it like a shock to his system.
“Go on baby,” He hears himself say, desperate to get that golden thread back. He’s giving you this, the only one that can give you this. Even when you don’t remember him, you’ll remember the feeling. It’s empty without him, but it will linger like a dream.
You cum and it shakes you, your thighs press against him with trembling desperation, your back arched and shivering, you moan his name so nicely. Fucking hell what is he supposed to do when he can’t have you all the time?
Ghost snags your unlucky suitor on his way out. You’re tucked nicely into bed, slumbering away the last dredges of magic as his shadows peel the skin off the man that once occupied the space next to you. It’s too bad he’s such a picky eater, this one has good meat on him. Ghost snips his heart out, spearing the organ on his claws to inspect it. Low quality, but what does he expect? No one could compete with you. It still squeezes under his teeth, still shreds and squirts the way it should, still slides down his throat and settles in his stomach.
The liver is decent at least.

So you wanna watch Burrow's End but you are a Delicate Flower (TM) and don't know if you can tolerate gore, body horror, suspense, etc. But you reeeeaaallly really love Aabria DMing and all the players, and all your friends are excited and talking about it, what do you do? (It's me, I'm the Delicate Flower.)
First, know the difference between "this is uncomfortable" and "this is unsafe". It's really important to be in tune with your body and know what's inside your window of tolerance, what's on the edge of your window tolerance and what is straight-up trauma triggering you.
If you know ahead of time what your specific trauma triggers are, look at the content warnings, ask friends, or ask in the Discord server (either on the Burrow's End channel or DM the mods) for if those specific things are described and/or shown. Note the time stamps.
Skip the sections that trauma-trigger you. That might be the whole episode. Or the whole season. Take care of yourself. But if you think it's uncomfy and just outside of your window of tolerance, carry on. . .
If it's something that you think you might be ok with, try reducing visual input: listen to the audio-only version, adjust your screen setting so things are in different colours, make your browser window small to reduce details. If you're near-sighted like me, take your glasses off to blur things.
Alternatively, your brain might make things MORE detailed and worse than they actually are, in which case, try watching and focusing on the cast, their interactions, the funny bits, the sweet bits. Also try half-watching it while doing some other task like folding laundry, or doing something like knitting or hand-sewing.
Look at the set with analytic movie-maker brain. How did they make this TECHNICALLY? What shots are they using? Notice the cuts, the lighting, the paint details. Think about the boring nitty-gritty backstage details that went into making this.
Watch with someone safe.
Make stupid jokes (The Blue is Walmart)
DO NOT EAT WHILE WATCHING (Alternatively, eating and drinking may actually help because eating food activates the parasympathetic nervous system aka the calm down system)
Take it in small chunks. Watch only a few minutes at a time, and then do something else grounding and calming.
Watch during daylight, so you can process stuff BEFORE you have to sleep.
Have an aftercare plan in place, either for processing (talk about it with a friend, yell about it on Discord or Tumblr, journal, have a little sob, make art about it) or for distracting (watch funny and wholesome videos, scroll Instagram, go to work, play with your cat, read a book, go for a walk, have a wild dance party)
Have an after-aftercare plan in place for when stuff crops up a few days or weeks later and unwelcome things pop into your brain. (Hint: treat 'em like intrusive thoughts; just let them fly through like li'l bats out to get a mosquito dinner and move on to the next thought.)
Read all the spoilers beforehand (on the Dropout Discord, here, on other socials), and desensitise yourself to pictures that way.
Write a tumblr post to help other people out
Don't feel ashamed for reacting with disgust, horror, feeling like you want to cry and generally being a Delicate Flower. We all have different nervous systems and different tolerances and life experiences and traumas, you're not better if you can stomach gore and horror and you're not Too Much if you get squeamish at just the thought of some of the things mentioned in ep 2 of Burrow's End.

having some Weird Thoughts currently about tumblr's place in the modern internet ecosystem, vis a vis twitter melting down, macebook/feta losing its shit, and a bunch of folks joining up here either for the first time in years or the first time at all.
namely, I really do believe that automattic/tumblr's current leadership is very very slowly and very very carefully implementing a bunch of changes in preparation to bring back adult content in its entirety, as part of a larger scheme to try to monetize without resorting to data scraping (which is basically impossible to do here the way it is on other sites anyway). it certainly seems like that's what they're doing, between post+, the tip jar, community labels, and the ability to make posts non-rebloggable. obviously these features have plenty of use outside of adult content (except maybe post+, which makes literally no sense outside of sex work), but what they seem to be doing is building up a logistical means by which to allow adult content, and allow it to be monetizable.
and like, no, I don't think tumblr the company is Our Best Friend; yes it is a company that needs to profit under capitalism to survive, but so is everything, and there is genuinely something funny and weird (in a very stupid, ironic way) about tumblr as a social media site operating in the 2020s. It just legitimately doesn't have the capacity to scrape data and sell targeted ads the way the giants of the modern internet do, both because it is a product of an earlier age when that wasn't yet a standard profit mechanism, and also just 'cause like. tumblr's fucking code is shit. I'm sure it's a lot better than it was circa 2012, but jokes about tumblr's legendary goof goof dildo spaghetti code used to be really common, and anyone who's been here longer than a couple months either remembers or at least has heard of just how weird and fucked up and bad the site's basic functionality used to be. Legitimately, the reason why tumblr feels so nice rn compared to the heyday is as much because it's just so genuinely more functional than it was ten years ago as it is because there's so comparatively few people.
but point being: if tumblr under yahoo had been handled with any semblance of basic competence, they might've seen which way the wind was blowing w/r/t targeted ads and data sales and we might have an entirely different, much worse hellsite than we actually have. or it probably would've died because yahoo would've actually fully ran it into the ground, more likely. but also it probably wouldn't have worked because the assumption of anonymity is so much more baked into the incredibly weird, broken, decade and half's worth of layered bullshit code that even if anyone previously could've realized that the smartest way to make money would be to scrape and sell data, they'd never have been able to implement it.
and so we have the tumblr of today: weird, unmarketable, ungovernable, proudly cringe, and deeply resistant to the mainstream. so not actually that much different to tumblr circa 2012, if a lot smaller and more battle-hardened.
but like. by the standards of what's available on the modern internet, tumblr is honestly one of the best, most versatile spaces still standing with any amount of a userbase? straight up, the dominance of twitter and instagram has made a lot of people really oddly perplexed by the concept of being able to write detailed essays in the body of a post, let alone the idea of dozens of images per post, or audio like, at all. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things about tumblr that I wish were different or better that just aren't compatible with how tumblr is set up at a base level as an LJ user every day I miss threaded comments and LJ-style cuts I LAMENT them I tell you, but of the options out there, tumblr is fucking wild in what it can offer. but I don't just mean for artists and fandom and weird little gremlins like those of us who've been here this whole time, I mean like. fuck. like.
watching the White House's twitter account try to lay out complex policy initiatives in 280-characters is fucking painful sometimes, and yet we've all gotten used to it in the past decade plus. leaving aside the fact that it's bonkers and deeply unsettling and generally bad that world leaders are beholden to usamerican for-profit corporations to communicate in general, of all of the socmed sites out there, it's kind of insane that twitter is the one that got big in the official political scene. (don't get me wrong: twitter is genuinely quite useful for disseminating quick bursts of information in crisis, and it's been fucking brilliant for coordinating in both natural disasters and evolving political/social disruption. but it's terrible at detailed, nuanced information sharing)
I don't know where I'm going with all of this necessarily, and I think twitter eating shit and going down in flames is pretty terrible for global democracy even as it is also on a surface level funny as shit. I don't want tumblr to replace twitter, or facebook, or insta, or tiktok, in being the place where everyone lives online. I want tumblr to stay as the little gremlin art ho fandom clown car, and lbr, it probably will. It'll probably never be what twitter is, for better or for worse. who knows if it'll ever be what it was in 2012 again. I like the ecosystem the way it is these days, with way fewer users, most of whom have been around the block more times than we can count, and are too jaded to start shit anymore. but tumblr needs money to survive, and as much as we're all enjoying posting cringe, tumblr's twitter is pulling off a masterwork balancing act luring twitter users over here, and it's working.
tumblr needs to do what it can to survive. we still don't know if all of this effort staff has been putting in these past ~10 months or so will be enough; the writing has been on the wall for years now that if tumblr doesn't find a way to financially justify itself, it won't survive another sale. automattic took a maybe unprecedented (and extremely positive, imo) risk this past year, and has been trusting current staff to listen to user input and implement positive changes, including finding ways to monetize without invading users' privacy, which who knows if the site even has the capability of doing anyway, even now. if we are all very lucky, and are willing to pitch in and treat this place like our community, we might even collectively succeed, and prove to the wider internet that it is possible to run a popular, high-traffic website without compromising user security. if tumblr is doing what I think they're doing, and very carefully building up a secure, socially, financially, and legally defensible way to support adult content on a site with american servers and a place on the app store in the 2020s, then we're off to the races and who knows where we'll go. if twitter does actually implode beyond salvaging, a huge chunk of the world will feel its loss, and many people, including all the normies and politicians and your mom, could very well cast their gaze to the website people wrote off as in its death throes four years ago. they probably won't, but as I was just vividly reminded earlier today, the White House did, in fact, have a tumblr once upon a time. who knows what the future holds.
but John Green deserves an apology, you weeaboo shits.

Fans have to stop thinking in such a black & white, either/or and in duality.
One can be a fan of friendship between Zendaya and whoever and Tom and whoever, and still admire Tom and Zendaya's relationship. Most of the world does exactly that where we just casually observe them. We cannot let those who irritate us shift narratives of how we start to view people-including Timothee.
I am not into fandoms or shipping, I think Zendaya and Tom are cute in a way that I can only know from what media shows me. But i also saw pics of Zendaya with Tim in the suit and I also thought that was cute. That was it. Coming on tumblr or seeing comments on twitter/instagram is wild. People really do need to get off the internet sometimes and take a step back.
If there are red flags, those things will come out in due time but that video was not a red flag to me.
Tumblr media
I agree with ALL of this Anon 👌🏾 👏🏾
I think this is the most sensible way to go through life tbh. Things are not black or white all the time. You can be a fan of one person, and also be a fan of another person.
You can love a couple together, and at the same time, not mind the opposite sex friendships those individuals have outside of the relationship.
I think fans must still have some sort of PTSD syndrome from the whole Tomdaya breakup of 1.0, and Z dating JE afterwards (who was a costar, and friend).
Y'all need to let that stuff go!
Also, keep in mind, that Tom and Z were YOUNGER back then, they were in totally different places in their life, their dating was kept HIDDEN and a secret to most of the outside world, they weren't dating each other normally, they were probably having issues before they broke up (obviously), etc.
So, fans need to realize that TZ are in a much stronger position NOW, than they ever were back in the 1.0 era.
Fans don't need to hate every guy who's NOT Tom who comes within a 3-mile radius of her lol 😆
Nor do weirdos need to make MORE of what is simply a friendship with a costar.
Jmho 🤷🏾‍♀️

I know this has been discussed before, but it’s interesting enough to me to be worth repeating . . .
The recent photos of Jared and Gen posing with others at the stem cell treatment facility as well as the photo of Jared and Gen at the coffee house chatting with the two women, leads me to believe that 1) the Padaleckis are down-to-earth enough that they venture out-and-about into the masses to live their lives; 2) the Padaleckis are famous enough (at least in their hometown of Austin) that they are recognized by people that they don’t know personally; 3) the Padaleckis are welcoming enough in their demeanor that people feel comfortable approaching them; and 4) the Padaleckis are human enough that they will engage with the common folk and pose for photos. This tells me a lot about Jared and Gen and who they are as people.
I have watched SPN and been a non-participating (lurker) part of the fandom for years, including at SPN_Goss and Tumblr, so I have seen a lot. I am not on FB, Instagram or Twitter, and I don’t follow any of the cast. I only see what’s posted on fan sites on Tumblr (some of which are admittedly anti-Jensen), so someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there are often similar sitings and interactions with the Ackles. This leads me to think that 1) the Ackles are not out-and-about as often; 2) the Ackles are not recognizable when/if they are out; 3) the Ackles are not as approachable if they are recognized; and 4) if the Ackles are approachable and engage, they may not consent to a photo or they may ask the person not to post the photo on social media. The only other reason I can come up with is that maybe people just don’t care, but I know that won’t go over well with the AAs.
This is just something that occurs to me every time I see a photo with Jared (and Gen) and a fan out in the wild. I love that he isn’t afraid to engage with people and I love that people always post about how kind and friendly he is. It does make me wonder about the comparisons between the two men though. Perhaps Jensen just isn’t as recognizable and famous as his super-fans think he is and perhaps Jared, with his more mainstream TV and film career, is.
I think there's a lot of truth in your observations. Thanks for sharing! To your question, I do follow some people who post Jensen and Jared fan interactions, and you're right that there are certainly more fan photos with Jared. Jensen content tends to come more from people he's worked with as opposed to fans out on the street.
There are definitely some interesting comparisons into how each couple handles recognition/fan interactions. Of course, I'm not going to say one way is better than the other as every celebrity should be allowed to interact within their comfort level. (And frankly, seeing how obsessed some of Jensen's fans are, I don't blame him for staying under the radar.) I do appreciate Jared and Gen's willingness to interact with fans and I hope someday I can meet them!
"Perhaps Jensen just isn’t as recognizable and famous as his super-fans think he is and perhaps Jared, with his more mainstream TV and film career, is."
It's unsurprising how many comments I saw on photos from Jared's USO tour that mentioned different shows Jared's been on, including Gilmore Girls, SPN, Walker, Friday the 13th and House of Wax. It helps that GG and SPN frequently make the weekly top 20 of streaming shows. Jared is very recognizable despite looking nothing like his teenage self from GG!
(Surprised no one mentioned New York Minute. LOL!)

What the fuck is wrong with people who insult an actor or "celebrities " face so fucking openly.
This a little late but I saw an old comment about hating Vlamis look in season 4. I understand not like the mustache, the hair cut or having your own opinion on it. But I've seen so many people be so mean on Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram its fucking insane. To there point its not just between fans sharing opinion to each other but to where vlamis sees it. It was fucking crazy seeing people comment it on his posts and during live streams.
In my personal opinion I love the way Michael looks in season 4, something about it scream to me how happy and changed he is. He's expressing himself differently and looks a bit matured somehow. And I don't say matured in a bad way either.
But it's fucking wild seeing people openly and quite harshly express how much they hate it, behind the actors back and straight to his face too.

Why do people on twitter always react differently? They always have different reactions from larries on tumblr. 😅
I truly don’t know. But there does seem to be marked difference between the fandoms on Tumblr, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. It’s pretty wild.

link hi hello! i've probably asked this before but please tell me about the linked universe i'm interested
you have not asked me this before (that i can remember) but im happy to answer!
ok SO
linked universe is one of many aus wherein various links from different zelda games meet up, in fact i wouldnt be surprised if its the most popular one
lu specifically has 9 links; the hero of the skies (skyward sword), the hero of men (minish cap, four swords, four swords adventures), the hero of time (ocarina of time, majora's mask), the hero of winds (wind waker, phantom hourglass, apparantly spirit tracks? tho no reference has been made to that one yet), the hero of twilight (twilight princess), the hero of legend (*takes a deep breath* a link to the past, oracle of ages, oracle of seasons, link's awakening, a link between worlds, triforce heroes), the hero of hyrule (zelda 1, zelda 2), the hero of warriors (hyrule warriors), and the hero of the wild (breath of the wild, possibly botw 2)
theryre all designed to be like,, at the very least a year since their last adventure, afaik
atm its gotten to a fairly high-stakes moment, especially considering we're in the first leg of the plot, lmao
the comics are on both tumblr and instagram!

Hey S, you sometimes answer asks that are about you not just fandom and with my 20 year high school reunion coming up... you're young. High school was hell without social media. How was social media in your high school? Love from this old gal 😅💞
Hey!
I do, yeah. I don't mind personal asks at all, as long as they're not too invasive, and this definitely isn't.
Woof though, don't remind me haha. I might be technically closer to high school then my 30s/40s (which isn't old at all by the way!) but I have put a lot of mental distance between myself and that place lol. High school was rough for me and it would've been with or without social media. But with social media, yeah. It was fun [sarcastic].
When I went through high school, hell, even middle school, it was the wild west with social media. Social media was big and only getting bigger with my peers, but the schools I attended didn't yet know how to (or think to) block social media platforms on their wifi as I know they all did after I graduated. Everything was fair game as a result. Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or anything you could want to check, you could open your phone and check. Even on library computers you could check them!
And that's another thing- I don't think my generation, my close peers at least, ever got into Facebook? Even though it was intended for young people originally. And I still don't have a Facebook actually, only a Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram. Tumblr is the only one I look at daily whereas the other two are basically abandoned haha. I might be an outlier though... like, I remember I felt that I was behind when I only got an Instagram account in, oh, early middle school? 6th grade? 7th? I don't remember. My friends pushed me to get it too. Which is crazy looking back, what about a 11, 12, 13 year old needed an Instagram?!
Anyway-
I also remember that there was a brief period where teachers realized just how many students were on social media and had to scramble to lock down their social media pages or wipe them clean of any "inappropriate" content (re: harmless things that prove that they are normal people but would make conservatives gasp and scream WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDEN, like seeing a teacher in a swimsuit on a vacation or holding a beer when they're relaxing or at a get-together) for fear of losing their jobs because the kids finding it.
Now it's just a part of being a teacher or "professional" unfortunately. You have to have a squeaky clean social media presence because everyone has it and everyone will stalk your accounts to see what kind of person you are!
And now into one-off things I recall-
Warning for mentions of suicide, cyberbulling, and underage sexual activities because... high school.
My high school had and HAS an active reddit meme page.
My high school has an Instagram meme page too, still active as well, that has been passed down between different student owners as every four years the student running it obviously graduates.
In 8th grade my class didn't get the normal "sex talk" (re: abstinence only, penis-in-vagina only teachings with a heaping side of: if you have sex you'll get an STI and die or you'll get pregnant and die because you're too young) but instead were sat down to discuss the dangers of nudes and sexting because that was what my classmates were using Snapchat for. Yeah... Yikes.
Oh, and speaking of Snapchat- Snapchst was cheerleaders and popular girls SHIT in high school. Jesus. The memories there. I have all the memories of shitty screenshots of mean gossip that was passed around virtually, originating from the hell-hole of Snapchat.
In the same vein- cyberbullying. Jesus fucking Christ. I cannot express how much cyberbullying went on in my high school. Not even just texting insults to people to bully them like you see in dramatic teen-targeted ads against cyberbullying but videos mocking people or videos of people doing embarrassing things going "viral" through the school. Specially dedicated pages on Instagram to bullying people. Sub-tweeting drama. Making memes about bullying victims that are sent in text-chains around the school. Etc.
Because of how fucking toxic it got and how unprepared my rural town was to deal with regulating social media and the bullying that was happening on it we ended up having the suicide hotline on the back of our ID cards as well as a new club that was a support group for bullying victims after two suicides that were both traced back to cyberbullying as the cause. One explicitly stated that in a note and the with the other it was found out with mass amounts of evidence via a phone search. The hotline number and useless support group (because who would go to a club after school that meant you were gonna be even more targeted) was the best they thought they could do. They didn't even, like, I don't know, punish the kids who did the cyberbullying.
(And, yes, I'm still angry about that as a once incredibly suicidal and moderately bullied teen myself... knowing that had I committed suicide like I wanted, nothing would've been done except for one lousy expression of momentary sympathy over the loud speaker to the entire building. Then no more speaking of it ever again.)
On a lighter note, not only did we have a social media page for memes but also for information on every. single. school. event. Ugh. It got so annoying by the end of high school. A prom page. A homecoming page. A senior prank page. Our leadership class had a page. Our art department ran an Instagram page and so did the wrestling and football and swim team. Even the YEARBOOK class had an Instagram page.
Memes and information pages was not where it stopped though. There were other types too. An Instagram page for crush confessions (including many people confessing about their lusting after particular teachers 😬), a page for submissions of "cursed" photos of people or things around the high school, an "overheard at [high school name]" twitter page with only bizarre quotes students had said, instagram pages calling out "whores" with PHOTOS OF THEIR FACE PUBLICLY POSTED, and then one page in response to the "whore" page bragging about who was still a "virgin"...
So, yeah. It was a cesspool.
And maybe it still is, I have no idea. I didn't make friends with any underclassmen so I have no connection there anymore.
A lot of kids took photos of our teachers and made joke social media pages for them too. Nothing too harmful, just clean fun (there at least). I remember one was for a history teacher that was a HUGE Star Wars fan. Students made a Twitter that basically just tweeted "man, I sure do love star wars!" or "it3s a great day to feel the force!" or "may the 4th be with you!" or whatever. The tweets always accompanied by a new photo taken of our teacher- which he willingly posed for, double thumbs up and smiling usually lol.
Along with those new, fake teacher accounts too, most kids actually had TWO pages on Instagram. One for their "nice" photos and one spam page where they post whatever they feel like without worrying about ruining their aesthetic/feed. Because, yeah. In high school and middle school we were worried about that. About our "branding". Don't you love social media 🙃
Anyway, I hope that was... entertaining? Fascinating to learn about the decline of generations? I don't know but, yeah. Those were social media highs and lows I could think of. Thank you for the love!

just for fun!
Thoughts, opinions, and a just for fun timeline. Google and a couple tumblr rabbit holes later....disclaimer lots of rumors with receipts for rumors.
I too find it weird that the same people talking about Johanne used to describe MK, Rikke, and Fanny the same exact way. Down to the same wording. Except they used to go after MK'S tattoos like they're a bad thing. People were awful about her, and the rest. Now Johanne and his family and friends are getting it too.
Now they act like a friendship, spanning 7 years, is something "more"  bc he likes her posts. Lol I bet he likes a lot of people's/friends posts, guys and girls. Probably a lot of private accounts too bc a lot of his friends went private bc people kept posting his friends' videos and pics. I don't understand why he can't like any of the accounts he follows without it causing a stir. Lol liking a post isn't a big deal lol. People can be friends, it's not like he doesn't have TON of female friends lol. I doubt he's still pining for her, and probably hasn't for a long long time.
It's not like he hasn't dated since or before (Olivia who rejected him supposedly 2017).
And he's older now and probably has sown his wild oats and wants to settle down with the woman he loves (Johanne). And I think, personal opinion, that now he has someone who matches him, loves him as he is, and let's him be just who he is. All goofy funny husky puppy energy Alex. That's great imo.
Busy boy in 2018.😂😂😃😃 he was young.

Strange tea about Alex, take with grain of salt etc

"Does anyone follow Alex H. on instagram? His story yesterday so much cringe, or the hashtag #phatasswhitegirl = Alicia A.  :eyeroll: she's the white girl that has fame for being a white girl with a big ass after that scene with Ivar, trying to get her attention alluding her? she's way out of your league, kid."
"He is a creep, he follows her even on spotify when she goes under a secret username but she doesn't follow him back  smart girl."
Lipstick alley source (I google alex hogh gee hirst threesome and it popped up, the above links. And quote/gossip came from there.)
May 29, 2018 the weekend/pics he took of MK were posted. Cryptic post from her around this timeframe.
Tumblr media
Jun 17, 2018 alex hogh with rikke westi red carpet its official twitter:
"Alex Høgh with Rikke Westi via alexhoeghandersen: "Rikke has always been too cool for school, but now it’s official. Watch out. She’s special. Huge congratulations my friend"
August 20th, 2018, Anonymous asked:
"What kind of relationship is there between Alex Høgh Andersen and Mary Kate Slattery???"
"As far as I know they are friends. For a hot minute I thought there might be something but that passed"
So they stayed friends it seems. Maybe they just realized they're better as friends? Maybe the rejection was mutual after all? Maybe he wasn't trying to be serious, just seeing how it goes? Or vice versa we will never know. Good for them. That's mature to stay friends. 😊 Her boyfriend type seems different from Alex. Not a bad thing to each their own.
Late 2018-2020 he dated a few others, one I think named Kaja? I've researched enough for a day. 😆 😆  there were blondes and brunettes, several women, one at the Zulu awards. One sitting on his lap at distortion which was posted on tumblr May 30, 2019 (edited to fix date).
That twitter/x post and IG posts don't seem to be focused so much on privacy. As some claim he's all about, I've always thought he was only private when he wanted to be. That's his choice. 😊😊 So I'm still not getting how Johanne ever "violated" his privacy.
So MK only likes his RC posts/posts that have Johanne in them. That's sweet she probably LIKES Johanne too. She's probably happy for her friend.
Seems like what friends do to me! Like posts and Support each other and be happy for each other. 😊😊😊
Another long post, but as ever don't expect it to be read. Just want to say what I want to say. 😊😊😊
PS I don't think it's weird that he's dated around before finding someone serious. You gotta shop around, see how the "clothes" fit before you buy them. Dating is what people do before they find their match. You gotta figure out what you like/want/need and what you don't like/want/need.😃

Ugh instagram be threatening everyone, everyday for being pro PAL, in anyway. 😩
Share a post to your story? "Your content has been removed."
I'm talking about a SHARE, it'd be like getting a strike for reblogging someone else's post.
Then the posts that are "inciting v!ol3nce and may cause physical h4rm"? From news sources Al Jazeera, and from on the ground journalists from various new networks around the world. Including the U/S ones bc NBC teams are in G/za too.
But let's go to r/j3w!sh, and they're scared, everyday! Bc the world is against them and "IS," there is a sub named that btw. It's just wild to me how anyone could even think that - To me, there's a difference between j3ws all around the world, and "IS", far r!ght j3/ws. Simply bc they're raised different. [Video]
Like, yes, align yourself on the side that's actively surpr3ss!ng PAL ppl's rights, along with the rest of the world who are tryna talk about it!
Bc in what world should people get in trouble for sharing/rebloggging/reposting to their page via IG, Tumblr, and TikTok's features? Everyday, it gets worse in PAL, W3st B/nk and G/za, and 🤫 gets worse too.

book review || ARC Reading Vlog -- Something Wild & Wonderful by Anita Kelly & The Plus One by Mazey Eddings
~Thanks to Netgalley for providing a digital ARC of Something Wild & Wonderful in exchange for an honest review. ~
GUYS, this was so damn cute! Both of these love interests are absolutely adorable!
We’ve got Alexei (or Lex, as only Ben calls him(be still my heart)) who’s dealing with the trauma of being disowned due to coming out as gay and has been struggling with his sexuality. He’s still trying to be comfortable as himself and is attempting to figure out on this hiking trip who the new Alexei will be. He’s full of fun nature facts and is tooth-achingly sweet. On the opposite side, we have Ben, who’s finally figured out a career path for himself, but is worried that he’ll self-sabotage. He’s laid back and funny, wears his heart on his sleeve, and charms every person they meet. While Ben is trying to keep from opening his heart to Alexei, Alexei is trying to do the same, because he doesn’t realize that Ben is also gay.
I love that this is balancing between a slow romance and two coming-of-age stories. Both characters are fleshed out and have solid personalities, their perspectives aren’t too similar to get confused, and their dynamic is adorable. They’re both just so sweet and have found solace in each other, first as friends and now as something more. Once they're officially a couple, I’ve just been squealing over the cute moments and sweet lines they say to each other. I’m so completely wrapped up in their romance, it’s ridiculous. The spice is also fantastic, 4 chilis worth.
Though, of course, there’s the looming concern about what will happen when they reach the end of the trail since Ben is from Nashville and Alexei is from Seattle. However, this did take me by surprise when there was a change in plans halfway through, which I appreciated, so it wasn’t too predictable. Although I was a bit frustrated with the third-act conflict that occurred due to a lack of communication, I also think it made sense for the characters and what we’ve seen of their personalities. Each of their actions did make sense for what had been created. It then led to some tear-worthy letters that made me pause and take a breath more than once. We really get to see more of Alexei’s struggles with his identity and his faith and his loss of his family because of those two things. There was one line that really made me stop because I nearly lost it crying.
The reunion was so damn sweet in different ways. The emotional healing both characters had done in their time apart made me have even more faith in their relationship. I had also been curious if Alexei was coded as autistic and his diagnosis allowing him to further understand his own identity made me love him all the more. I’m going to have to get my hands on a copy of this book so I can go back through and annotate all these heartwarming and adorable moments!
The atmosphere is also fantastic, really taking you on the trail with these two and describing the scenery spectacularly.

Education and Multimodality
Multimodal writing is an inevitable stretch of the road we walk as compositionists. As language develops, and we interact with more and more modes through the use of tools like the internet, even the most stubborn of us are left unable to deny the turn of the tides. And despite the dramatism, I don’t think it’s all that bad of a move honestly. If you have Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, or any slew of modern social media, you’re already engaging in multimodal writing. Emails these days can contain anything, from images, to sound files, to whole videos! It is, once again, inevitable.
Here's an example of a multimodal email I got from work. It has 8 different attachments, all in different formats, which would not have translated well into a plaintext email.
Tumblr media
When we look at our own learning experiences, along with the experience of current students, we see this growth of multimodality and the internet. Below is a table from “Revisualizing Composition: How First-Year Writers Use Composing Technologies” by J.L. Moore, et al, which shows the percentage of students who use technology in their most common compositions.
Tumblr media
So… what? Students use their phones, what’s new? The focus really comes in on a few specific sections– particularly Facebook, Email, Twitter, and Wiki/Blog. Students are using these mostly informal platforms fairly often, as shown by the percentages on the right hand column, and these platforms are inherently multimodal. Websites like Facebook and Twitter offer image, voice, and video posting options. Wikis and blogs have simple embedding tools, while also allowing users to play with spatial organization through customization of their front pages. Emails, as previously mentioned, can contain a variety of valuable, diverse modes within it.
Students are bringing the things they learn from these platforms with them, the way we bring our own experiences with us when we learn and teach others. These experiences are clearly valuable to current students, as they return to them continuously, which means they are internalizing the lessons they learn from using these platforms quite deeply. And make no mistake– they aren’t just posting videos or images, they’re writing on these platforms as well.
This multimodal posting is a skillset all of its own. Students learn things like spatial reasoning, how to edit photos and videos, how to create audio clips, and most importantly, they learn how to write in different situations. A tweet doesn’t have the same format as a Facebook post, and neither are like emails. Blogs are the wild west of the internet, where you can create unique posts to place on uniquely designed websites. All of this comes together to create a skillset that is flexible and unique to the internet, a space that is more often than not where work and schooling are going towards.
Students use their phones… to write! It’s nonacademic writing in many cases. J.L. Moore et al. point out that “...For instance, students using notebook or paper, pencil, a word-processing program, email, or wiki technologies are most likely to be using the technology to complete a school assignment. Likewise, students tend to write for entertainment when they use Facebook, Twitter, and blog technologies,” (pp 7). If it’s nonacademic then, you might wonder why students are using these platforms to write.
Katherine Blake Yancey hits this idea right in the head in “Made Not Only In Words: Composition in a New Key,” where she discusses the intersection of student writing habits, technology, and the line education must walk between these points. Yancey describes her thoughts in a quartet, and in quartet one, seemingly grabs this mystery firmly, writing:
“Today, we are witnessing a parallel creation, that of a writing public made plural, and as in the case of the development of a reading public, it's taking place largely outside of school-and this in an age of universal education. Moreover, unlike what happens in our classes, no one is forcing this public to write. There are no As here, no Dean's lists, no writing teacher to keep tabs on you. Whatever the exchange value may be for these writers-and there are millions of them, here and around the world-it's certainly not grades. Rather, the writing seems to operate in an economy driven by use value,” (pp 300-301).
This use value, as Yancey calls it, is unique to each circumstance. Unlike education, the world is not made of perfect percentiles that determine the ability to derive value out of your work; instead, writing is released into the wilderness of the world, and allowed to roam freely towards those who are willing to love it. In combination with the multimodality of these preferred writing methods, I believe an image is forming quite strongly. Picture it with me:
Students are engaging in multimodal writing outside of the classroom frequently. They tweet, post, blog, all of which are done for the pleasure of it, and not for a grade. When they’re in the classroom, they might be equally involved in their writings, but oftentimes they seem less involved in educational writing. With this, we might ask ourselves why does this happen?
I believe this is a two sided issue. One, as previously discussed, this multimodal writing that students engage in isn’t in the classroom. If they’re comfortable and find value in multimodality, the constant lack of it can be a massive demotivator. The other side is a bit more sensitive: it's entirely possible that students simply feel uncomfortable within schools.
Academia has a history of being unkind to outsiders. If we’re honest, and I do hope we are being honest together, we know that the current education system is built on a hill of misdeeds. Segregation is the first to come to mind of course, phrases like “separate but equal'' and people like Ruby Bridges likely popping up into our minds. Looking at more modern times though, we see the targeting of queer students with legislation that forces school teachers to report if a student confides in them that they are queer in any way. This continued hostility towards minority groups lives in our current education system in many, many ways, almost too many to list, and students are not stupid. They know, understand, and internalize that their otherness is often used as a tool against them, and that schools are not necessarily the safest place for them.
So is it any wonder that students, who often feel left out of or targeted by an institution they have almost no choice in participating in for the first 18 years of their lives, choose to express themselves outside of it? This movement outside of the bounds of academia makes it clear that classrooms aren’t exactly the safe space we may want them to be. It’s not necessarily that students don’t want to or are unable to write, but that they cannot write comfortably within the classroom. Then, if we make an effort to invite these styles of writing, with their quirks and modes and disjointed natures, into the learning journey, might we also invite in the parts of students that are left at the door?
I don’t think this line of questioning can be ignored much longer. It is becoming increasingly obvious that restraining compositions to just a select few items is less about proper education and more about controlling the narrative students are allowed to express. If we want to perpetuate the legacy of discrimination and otherization that academia has steeped in for so long, then I suppose you could pretend that none of this is happening. Then again, students, with their many modes and sites and technology, are no longer letting these sleeping dogs lie. It may be in the best interest of us all to acknowledge our blind spots, and endeavor to lift the veil off of our eyes in an effort to not stagnate.
