HEY I NEED EVERYONE TO READ THIS.
I dont blame you if you were a Wilbur fan, and you shouldn't blame yourself either. You had no way of knowing, you were not holding Wilbur's hand as he did the things he did.
Do not blame yourself for loving something. It's not your fault it was rotten

god okay disco elysium fans try and understand the consequences of actions challenge. jean is a dick but also he's like that... for a reason. kim has literally only just met harry he has no frame of reference for the past and NEITHER DOES THE PLAYER. Jean's been with harry since he was sober. he's seen the downfall. harry's gone clean before and all that happens is he fell in again. none of yall have had to be friends with an addict and it shows. it's constant. its painful. eventually compassion fatigue. you just can't care like you used to because every single time you offered a hand it got bit. sunk cost fallacy forces you to stay but its like poison. toxic, eating away at you, an albatross. you can't leave him but you can't live with him. you know hes hurting so so bad but the hurt spills from his overflowing heart into anger and its directed at you.
anyway td;lr jean's got good reason for giving up on harry, martinase was just his final straw. its not just "ough you shouted at me while being mentally ill once and now im mad :(" its "i have watched you systematically destroy yourself from the inside out. you are burning alive and every time i try to help you i get burnt. you have embraced the flames at this point and i don't know how else to help anymore. you arent who i used to know."
EXCEPT HE DOESN'T EVEN DO THAT BECAUSE HE CAME BACK. he came back literally as soon as the waterlock got fixed. he still fucking cares.

I wanted to share about my beloved Spore species, so here they are! Introducing you all to; the Grublett!
Grubletts are a friendly, herbivorous species with a culture revolving around acceptance of all. They were an early competitor in the space race of their galaxy. Their social abilities lended well to alliances, alliances led to trades, and all this lead to a solid empire with enough tools to defend themselves against attackers and enough alliances to deal with confrontations they couldn't stand against on their own.
Their empire became known as a safe space for any member of any species of any empire, no matter how fierce the reputation or the individual's history. Anybody could visit or even live amongst the people of the Grublett empire, as long as they didn't bring with them weapons, and anybody who harmed* the citizens of the empire were not directly punished, but banished from the Grublett empire for life. This vast haven was a blessing to many, but there were always the few who took advantage of the compassion. This gave rise to a faction of the society that felt the culture was too accepting and was hurting many of the citizens who had done nothing wrong.
More specific details under the cut!
Senses: The Grubletts, having had the privilege to live somewhere remarkably safe during the early stages of their evolution never developed good eyesight. Instead, they mostly relied on their hearing to detect predators and speak to their families and friends. Because of this poor eyesight, the language of the Grubletts holds much importance. Early members of the species would alert each other to danger from long distances with their calls, and Grubletts even today mainly identify each other by the sound of their voice as opposed to appearance.
Diet: The Grubletts are herbivorous and due to their poor ability to distinguish plants by appearance, have an advanced sense of smell and by extension, taste. These traits add up to the Grubletts being a true connoisseur of fruits and other plants. Besides spice, the staple of trade in most galaxies, the Grubletts also have a booming business in the trades of fruits and fruit based dishes, which are especially popular with other herbivorous species.
Coat: The fauna of the Grublett homeplanet, Haleybop, was particularly colourful, and the Grublett species, as they spent so much time foraging amongst the foilage evolved to mimic the plants of their homeland, although they can't tell the difference that well themselves. The colours of a Grublett's coat can tell you where their ancestors originated from millennia ago, although it won't tell you much about a Grublett in the current day and age apart from the family they might be from, especially considering the number of random genetic mutations that have occurred since the origin of the species that has broadened the appearances that Grubletts can take. Most Grubletts are a shade of purple adorned with yellow or blue stripes, but some Grublett families sport spotted coats instead of stripes, uncommon coat colours, or even no patterns at all! Despite the dramatic difference in appearance, the skin of a Grublett closely resembles a human's in texture.
Clothing: Most Grubletts don't wear clothing outside of when its advantageous for environmental or sanitary reasons. Without the eyesight to see each others bodies nor the cultural aversion to such a thing, modesty isn't really an issue. Astronauts might wear space-faring uniforms, scientists sanitary uniforms and hikers heat-providing clothes, but apart from these and cases like these they're not commonly seen. Although, as a result of trade and communication with other species some fashion trends do pop up from time to time. Like that period where hats were all the rage, or that time a while after when hats made a comeback during a vintage renaissance phase.
Religion: The most prominent belief amongst Grublett society is that the universe itself is divine, and connecting with the universe, whether through others, or through the lands or astronomical bodies, allows individuals to connect more with this divinity and experience it themselves. The origin planet of the Grubletts is an especially sacred place and many Grubletts consider it spiritually important to visit at least once - just make sure to book in advance. With an empire as vast as the Grublett's, this hotspot destination can get very busy! It is also believed that as everything carries within it the same divinity, kindness is paramount as helping others helps all that is divine, including oneself.
Gender and Identity: The Grublett don't have much of a concept of gender anymore, as over time they began to have the outlook that each individual has their own gender distinct from all others, and the concept eventually became redundant. This is aided by the fact that with current medical advancements, body modification operations aren't just accessible but also incredibly easy, and apart from the question of conception sex is socially irrelevant. Most Grubletts learn about gender from other species, and Grubletts that adopt the genders of other species aren't all too uncommon and are openly accepted within Grublett society.
Language: The sounds of the Grublett language is similar to that of an Earth ducks'. But don't think that means they're limited in communication - the Grublett language is vast, both as a result of the importance of language during their evolution and the incredible length of time the Grublett empire has been around. They also have a broader vocal ability than ducks - though their bills are very similar, they developed more oral flexibility** over time to pronounce more and more distinct words. The basic pronoun for most Grubletts is "gli/gli/gliss," a term that carries connotations of unity and alltogetherness culturally.
*Just saying harm here isn't entirely accurate. Minor tussles and consensual harm are okay under most jurisdiction, though some planetary governments hold different definitions of what constitutes harm and what is allowed. **I know and fully acknowledge how funny this phrase sounds. Hold my hand. Lets laugh at it together.
Also, please keep in mind this is a collection of cultural trends for the species. Individuals of the species have many different opinions, identities and beliefs, just as humans do!

Say hello to Garaidia, one of the Grublett scientists! Gli is outgoing, friendly, and when gli's not doing scientific work gli loves nothing more than to show off gli's moves!!
Garaidia is one of the scientists working on Operation Oss'Ring. I suppose Operation Oss'Ring needs a bit of an introduction itself!
Tumblr media
The Oss'Ring are a creation of the Grublett's - a new species created from the DNA of the Grubletts. They are engineered to be pack animals, as the Grubletts once were, and placed on habitable planets in groups. They are given the tools on planet to build peaceful empires if they so choose to, and a bit of a knowledge package on science to boost their progress once they are able to understand it. Of course, mostly the science that avoids weaponry and conflict - they can work those parts on their own if that's what they want.
Of course, the members of this operation understand that they might not receive the results they want. Maybe they'll choose a planet too hostile, that'll lead to an Oss'Ring population predispositioned to violence, or maybe the Oss'Rings will become divided of their own accord. Maybe as their sapience grows conflicts in their ideals will lead to a more combative culture instead of a collaborative one. Maybe the Oss'Ring will rue their creators and one day declare war.
But maybe, things will go to plan. And maybe, in a far future, where nobody knows if the Grubletts will still be around, there'll be a new species dipping its toes into the vast and exciting galaxy, and they'll spread the same message of peace and tolerance that the Grubletts hope to in their lifetime.
Such is the gamble of parenthood.
Garaidia is one of the leading scientists on their project, and her feelings on it certainly do mirror those of a parent. Gli knows gli won't be around to see what comes of glis efforts, but puts as much love as gli can into them anyway. Gli hopes for the best for the children of their efforts and hopes that one day someone will discover the work gli did for the Oss'Ring and remember gli for it. And that thought makes gli happy.
