the funniest thing you can do as a driver in a car with someone who doesn't listen to podcasts is say that you're going to turn on the radio but instead put on welcome to night vale. please do it and make sure to keep a straight, thoughtful face. you have to see your passengers expressions - they are going to be priceless.

The Dog Park
Welcome to Night Vale
prompt: dog park
The Dog Park
We here at the station
have recently had several letters
asking questions about the dog park.
First, thank you for sending us your queries!
What is community radio for
if not assisting the community?
Second, DO NOT GO IN THE DOG PARK.
THERE ARE NO DOGS ALLOWED
IN THE DOG PARK.
THERE ARE NO PEOPLE ALLOWED
IN THE DOG PARK.
DO NOT ENGAGE THE HOODED FIGURES
IN THE DOG PARK.
(Oh, sorry about that,
I think something happened
with my microphone. I think
it’s fixed now.)
There is no dry, scorched smell
coming from the dog park.
It does not smell like time,
like sand flowing through an hourglass.
It is just a small, forbidden
patch of land, NOT a barren wasteland.
And whatever that sound
you think you hear–
crinkling paper
mixed with the snipping
of your last allotted haircut
of the year–
it’s most likely coming from
the vacant lot out back of the Ralphs.
There are no sounds
coming from the dog park.
There were several reports last week
of something small and fuzzy
near the gate of the dog park.
I sent an intern to investigate,
and it was NOT A DOG.
Also, to the family of
intern Anastasia:
she was a good intern.
She will be missed.
Intern Sophie has just handed me
a message from the City Council.
It reads: It is illegal
to think
about
the
dog
park.
…Oh.
Okay.
Well, this has been a reminder
of things you should not
smell
or hear
or look at
or think about.
Maybe try some yoga,
or some healthy
chanting
around your bloodstone circle
instead.
...
Author's Note: I don't usually go in for the ALL CAPS thing...but honestly, that's just how Cecil speaks sometimes. He's so dramatic, bold won't cut it.

Listening again to Nightvale.
It has been years. It has been *years*.
The same audio playing that I once convinced my mother was a real radio show. This lasted until the report about the helicopters above the scrublands and the sand wastes.
It's nice to be back, even this first episode has plenty of characters that are much more dear to me than the casual mentions imply.
And the phrase 'Teeth like a Militery Cemetary' will always be as perfect as Carlos' perfect hair.

YES YES I NEED THIS SIGN IN EVERY SINGLE PARK PLEASE
This is my daily struggle, I had so many arguments with people with off-leash dogs (in a mandatory leash area!!!). Thanks to this behavior I'm struggling with Kim being anxious/aggressive with other females as she often gets involved in unpleased interactions with free females while on leash. And every single time that I ask for the dog to be at least recalled, I'm being called names and insulted of course.
Also 9 out of 10 their dog isn't really that friendly at all.
