Sometimes i wonder how the members of the Worst Generation would feel if they found out Jewellery Bonney was a literal 10 year old and on their level like i think that would be actually psychologically devastating. Imagine being a 40 year old man travelling across the world and steadily building up your power and notoriety only to find out you're the same level as a 10 year old. Id die!!

Oda drew what the Worst Generation, Warlords, and Admirals would look like if genderbent. Therefore, I will give my impressions of them.

Worst Generation

Bege: She looks more friendly than her male counterpart. I don't have much else to say.

Kid: She's hot. The drawings are basically busts, so I can't see anything apart from their heads and clavicles. If she kept her male counterpart's harness, than it's doing a lot of heavy lifting. That said, it's more likely that she's wearing a bra or one of those corset-type tops.

Apoo: I don't like him, but she's pretty cute. This is the first time I've noticed that his teeth look like (and might actually be) piano keys.

Law: She looks a bit like Boa Hancock. I don't have much else to say. She's cool.

Urouge: She looks like a cool aunt.

Bonney: He doesn't look that much different from his canon counterpart, apart from some stubble.

Hawkins: Much like Bege, she looks friendlier than canon. Honestly, she reminds me of a princess.

Drake: She looks a lot like her male version. Her bolero jacket seems to be covering a lot more than in canon.

Killer: I like her hair. Other than that, she's quite similar to her male counterpart, albeit with Oda's usual female body type.

Warlords

Crocodile: Damn, she's hot.

Moria: She looks pretty cute.

Hancock: All I can think is that he looks a lot like Law. Is Oda trying to tell us something?

Blackbeard: She's actually pretty attractive. I never thought I'd say that about Blackbeard.

Doflamingo: She looks good, but I feel uncomfortable for some reason I can't put my finger on.

Jinbei: She's really cute.

Mihawk: Oh my god, she's gorgeous!

Kuma: That grin is slightly unnerving.

Admirals

Fujitora: She looks really sassy, much like in canon.

Akainu: She looks way too nice. It's creepy.

Fujitora: Looks like someone's cool grandma.

Kuzan: She's pretty hot. There's some kind of joke in there...

I'm hoping that Oda will draw genderflips for the Big Mom Pirates and the Beast Pirates someday.

The Supernova Pirates

What if all the Straw Hats except for Zoro and Luffy took different paths? What if the Supernovas also ended up in different situations that led them to meet Luffy and Zoro instead?

This au focuses on Luffy creating a more powerful version of his crew by recruiting the other nine Supernovas (without Blackbeard of course) instead of his canon crew. There will be some spoilers here if you aren’t caught up with either Wano or the manga.

Recruitment can look like this.

Roronoa Zoro: The same as in canon.

Jewelry Bonney: She’s hiding away in the East Blue and ends up working to pay off her own debts at the Bartie after trying to sneak away.

Trafalgar D. Water Law: He’s Kureha’s second apprentice on Drum Island along with Chopper and is working on developing his medical knowledge and devil fruit abilities further for his goal of taking down Doflamingo.

Killer: He joins Baroque works after gaining a reputation large enough that Crocodile wants him on his side for his plans. However, Killer only joins so he has more resources to find his old friend Eustass Kid after they were both kidnapped off their island and separated. So, he joins the Straw Hats after a talk with Luffy.

X Drake: Joins Baroque Works as an undercover agent after the Navy figures out Crocodile is after Pluton. He helps the current Straw Hats take down Baroque Works and is later given an order to join them and possibly take them down later by his superiors. However, through his journey with them, he ends up betraying the Navy for real during the battle against CP9.

Urouge: Urouge joins during the Skypiea arc after Luffy defeats Enel.

Scratchman Apoo: Joins the crew after Luffy wins his loyalty in a Davy Back Fight against Foxy.

Eustass Kid: Eustass joins the crew during Waters 7 when he meets Killer again. Killer manages to convince Kid to join them after Kid has been working as a shipwright the entire time while they were separated.

Capone Bege: Bege and his family act as a second gang in Waters 7 along with the Franky Family. After everything with CP9 goes down, he decides to put himself and his family in the Straw Hat Pirate’s care.

Basil Hawkins: Joins the crew after he gets his shadow back upon defeating Moria. His cards tell him that joining the crew is the best course of action.

Of course with this new crew, several events will play out differently than in canon.

The East Blue arc is relatively the same. However, you can decide whether Usopp, Nami, and Sanji join the Straw Hats.

Whiskey Peak to Arabasta will likely have some differences due to Killer and X Drake’s involvement. Plus, Law joining the crew.

Skypea won’t be that different unless X Drake has a way to hit Enel since he was sent by the Navy to stop another logia fruit user.

Water 7 and Enies Lobby will definitely be different as it will depend on whether you had Robin join the crew like in canon or if it’s X Drake and CP9 setting a trap together before Drake changes sides.

Thriller Bark will likely go down pretty different with the extra firepower that comes with this stronger crew. Plus, Hawkin’s involvement. However, the real difference I would say would be the Kuma confrontation because of his daughter Jewelry Bonney being there.

Summit War can be very different due to the magnitude of this new band of Straw Hat Pirates. All of the bounties on this small crew (barring you don’t add any more besides them during Paradise) are over 100 million and they haven’t even gone over to the New World yet. After Marineford is over, the entire crew could run and save Luffy before making their escape. Because of their and their captain’s exploits, they become the next beacon for pirates to look up to after Whitebeard’s death. The crew could still temporarily disband and train for two years before heading into the New World.

One of Oda's great unappreciated talents is his ability to keep his world and story consistent even as the scope outgrew his original plans by several orders of magnitude. I think there's enough in Thriller Bark to know that Oda always planned for Kuma to be a secret Revolutionary, but I doubt anything but the broadest strokes of his backstory was hammered out until much later. The Eleven Supernovas, and thus Bonney, weren't even conceived until Saboady, and even if you wanted to say that Oda already knew Kuma let himself be turned into a robot because he had a kid, he had to twist the threads of the story to turn Bonney into that kid.

To be perfectly honest, Kuma during his introduction is a whole lotta smoke. All the reader knows is his moniker and that he had the reputation for committing atrocities. That's as close to a blank slate as you can get while still building hype, and that blank slate lets Oda slot in whatever he feels is appropriate once he gets to the point where Kuma's backstory is important. That flexibility is a wonderful tool, but Oda's careful to keep the old consistent with the new, and that's enormously difficult when writing serialized fiction over a period of 25+ years

how kid hated the way you laughed, the way your lips curled towards the corners of your eyes so effortlessly. oh, how much those thoughts turned out to be a lie. the only part of the melodic sound coming from you, kid despised, was who was the reason behind the burst of amusement. sabaody was meant to be the last island before entering the second part of the grand line, the new world. it did not mean to be confronted with the dumbness of another captain. a boy, so young, so naive, and often speaking confusing sentences which tickled a laugh out of most persons. kid did not count as one of them.

his jealousy became the reason of his cruel behavior, skin slapping on skin echoing across the deck of the victoria punk. underarms placed parrallel on the railing, the forehead laid on your wrists. “fucking mine,” the captain behind you groaned, pounding into you harsher. a successful attempt of hiding your face from the passing townsfolk, or any other pirate which already saw your gentle features in daylight and could recognize it in darkness occurred while letting the filthy sounds of pleasure spill from your mouth. but kid wasn't having the disobedience of your actions. his large paw found the back of your head, the calloused fingers grabbing the messed up strands and pulling back. forceful but not painful. “do not dare to hide what i’m doing to you,” kid grunted, punctuating his words with a rather rough thrust. “let those fucking assholes see who’s little slut you are.”

while his words sounded harsh to an outstanding person, kid knew how much you loved his nasty dirty talk. the scenario from the harbor must look discomforting. cherry red dusted over the span of your cheeks, the mouth wide open, needy whines and filthy moans leaving the swollen lips as your body was pressed harshly against the railing. marks on your shoulders and around your waist would stay as a reminder. behind you, the towering shadow of a man. broad shoulders, calloused fingertips pressing deeply into the soft flesh of your hips and the wide, mischievous smirk on kid’s lips accentuated by the bright red of his lipstick. “i hope,” he grunted, the raspy tone coming from deep in his chest. “that elastic boy luffy walks past, and sees me fucking you.“

oh, kid was jealous of goofball luffy. a surprise as you mildly suspected law or zoro.

throughout the journey across the first half of the grand line, the islands of paradise, the captain of the heart pirates never felt an intense pinch of jealousy. law always knew you started the journey with him, and you would either finish it with him or die by his side. a promise of love. but reaching sabaody archipelago, the last one before the red line, offered other difficulties. after month of seeing other crews failing, law met people as dangerous as him. the worst generation, the eleven supernovas from nine different crews.

while you loved how much you were able to change the cold-hearted demeanor as soon as entering the private rooms of the polar tang, it always caused a glint of pride when law‘s emotionless facade faltered. and it did in front of the auction house. eyebrows furrowed into a deep thrown, thin lips pressed together tightly and his jaw clenched at the sight. your delicate hands, the slender fingers wrapped ever so lightly around the hilt of that mosshead‘s sword. zoro, the vice captain of the straw hat crew. a dumb fool, but his strength was immense. he stood behind you, a hand placed above yours and his rough fingertips graced your soft skin as zoro showed you how to slash and inflict a wound with the sharp blade. inhaling a deep breath, law forced himself to swallow the thoughts of destruction until you reached the polar tang again.

oh, how the anger boiled in law‘s stomach. you never asked him, never questioned the way he carried his sword, never wanted to learn from him. a burning jealousy in his blood, he already planned the downfall of your night. and accepting the offer from the vice captain was the reason for your current position. sprawled out on the captain‘s bed, ass in the air and the legs already shaking from the intensity of law‘s actions. consequences, that was what he called the harsh slaps of his swords sheath against the soft flesh of your cheeks. each time the material connected with your strawberry-freckled ass became a reminder of your wrong‘s. „you‘re mine. fucking mine alone.“ law‘s words were a raspy mess, growls erupting from deeply within his tattooed chest. „can’t wait to fuck you dumb again. you won’t remember that mosshead.“

the sound of him opening his belt rang in your ears, knowing that your punishment reached its peak soon. and yet, you did not regret luring out the possessiveness of law. at least not at this moment until the soreness conquered your exhausted body and closing your legs was not an option.

The fun thing about long running series is that you can trace a character's narrative evolution in real time.

The Law we saw pre-timeskip clearly aimed for One Piece.

Unless it was an elaborated lie to his crewmates (which I guess is the in-series explanation at the moment), it's safe to assume that his D lineage and self assigned suicidal mission didn't exist as a concept back then. The goal is eventually re-established with a context.

While drawing, I assumed Kidd would become important, but I didn't think LAW would move forward like that. So it's youu?? 😱

Weekly serialization, it's a Wonderland.

Weekly serialization means adding oomph on micro scale. I have a particular theory extrapolated from this statement: Law's introduction in Punk Hazard wasn't planned at all.

It might sound far fetched for how integral Law is to Punk Hazard's plot. But it's not an uncommon event, and not just in One piece. Editors often suggest heavy changes to accommodate strong cliffhangers and quick surprises. Eleven supernova were created because early Shabondy lacked oomph, Law might have appeared in Punk Hazard for the same reason.

Even without Law, the straw hats would've anchored in Dressrosa to save Kanjurou, Zou to reunite with Raizo, and in Wano to escort their friends back home. Law just happened to have something going on in all of these places.

I think both Law and Kidd's post timeskip debut was planned to be in Wano arc. Law's competitive dynamic with Kidd and Luffy in Wano is more consistent with Shabondy than anything that came before.

Doflamingo was initially one of Kaido's strongest allies to be defeated within Wano country (confirmed in volume 98 SBS). It means Dressrosa was entirely different from what we got.

Given the similarity in their Jolly Roger, Oda may have always planned Law to be Doflamingo's ex-subordinate with a complicated history, keeping his and Doflamingo's conflict reserved for Wano. But Law was popular, resourceful and the story needed a boost after a monotonous Fishman Island arc. Thus, Law gets his early screentime that snowballs into a dramatic Dressrosa arc. I'm sure Oda didn't mind.

Tldr, I think this is how it went down: Oda decides that Kidd and Law would return and fight alongside Luffy in Wano -> Punk hazard is written and introduces Kinemon -> Punk Hazard falls bland and editor pesters Oda to bring Law early -> Law appears and proposes an alliance, so the plot is now directly chained to Wano -> Oda realizes ope ope makes a good device to explain Imu's immortality -> Oda makes Law a D as he's now connected to endgame plot.

Even if the theory above is wrong, it's a fact that Law was not a part of the bigger picture but became unexpectedly relevant. To work with him, Oda had to figure the smaller details of his personality slowly as the story progressed; such as his honesty and the suicidal tendency.

Law roped straw hats into his revenge scheme while deep down wanting them to leave Dressrosa safe and unharmed. But Law in the draft for this scene looks more... certain. Maybe Robin wasn't wrong to suspect Law after all.

I guess, by the time Oda actually reached the scene, the shadiness didn't suit his personality anymore. Corazon would not approve.

Wano Law was the best written Law. His personality was fully ironed out, not just the revived rivalry with Luffy-Kidd but also a reluctance to be nice while time and time proving it's mostly just talks. It's a mix of his personality traits that were decided at his very introduction and the later decided improvisations.

This post was getting too big and derailed so I had to cut it short lol. Maybe I'm reaching with my speculations but it was a fun topic to brainstorm about.

Edit: Here's a bit of extension of this theory.

Explanation: The explosion is over, but the consequences continue. About eleven thousand years ago, a star in the constellation of Vela could be seen to explode, creating a strange point of light briefly visible to humans living near the beginning of recorded history. The outer layers of the star crashed into the interstellar medium, driving a shock wave that is still visible today. The featured image captures some of that filamentary and gigantic shock in visible light. As gas flies away from the detonated star, it decays and reacts with the interstellar medium, producing light in many different colors and energy bands. Remaining at the center of the Vela Supernova Remnant is a pulsar, a star as dense as nuclear matter that spins around more than ten times in a single second.
