The Empire Games - Part 7

🦋 Part 7 is now posted! 🦋 Thank you so much to everyone reading! 💖

Tipping his head back, Luke briefly closes his eyes, drawing in a slow, deep breath. The bloodbath was by far the worst he’s ever seen, the battle droids absolutely ruthless as they blasted away tribute after screaming tribute, resulting in more of them being killed—fourteen in all, including Poe and Kaydel’s co-tributes—in the opening minutes of the Games than ever before.

He can’t help but wonder if it was done on purpose, or if Gamemaker Hux was simply in a particularly bad mood that morning. Luke knows the redheaded Gamemaker is being closely watched, based on Lando’s reports, and so must be feeling the pressure to deliver a spectacular show. And while killing off more tributes in the beginning can shorten the overall length of the Games, it also often increases the drama, concentrating the focus on a few specific players rather than those who likely don’t have much of a chance of survival.

Anything to prevent a repeat of Luke’s Games, considered the least exciting in the entire history of the Empire Games, and the only Games which is not shown during the months leading up to each year’s reaping.

Although, ‘least exciting’ isn’t exactly the terminology that Luke would use to describe his Games. More like 'most manipulated’.

The Empire Games - Part 5

Part 5 is now posted! 🦋

Ben lets out a soft groan as the palest flickers of dawn begin to stretch across the landscape, filtering between the surrounding skyscrapers. He flops onto his stomach, burying his face into his soft, plushy pillows as the light grows slowly but steadily brighter, trying to block it out. His sleep during the night was troubled, filled with disturbing dreams of Rey diving into a deep, black pool of water, only to emerge with yellowish eyes and her teeth sharpened into fangs. And of his father, the day the Empire officials came to take him away, screaming his name.

Corellia was a temperate world located in the Core. Sharing the star system with four other major planets, Corellia was known for its tenacious people and its excellent shipyards. Notoriously independent, Corellia acted with an autonomous military through the rule of the Galactic Empire, and was center of much resistance to Imperial rule.

Strike-class medium cruisers were general purpose military craft used by the Galactic Empire. Decently equipped with turbolasers, ion cannons, and tractor beams, strike cruisers were considered useful because of their versatility, as they were able to perform in many roles, from planetary defense to ground assault.

Age of Empires III is another in the line of getting the Definitive treatment, so we had a look how it seems to be faring in the recent Beta week before launch.

We introduce the available features (I epicly fail with muting my mic, so have to redo a part later - terribly sorry! :-/) and delve into 1v1 ranked matchmaking (Quick Search from original ESO2), without proper build order and stuff, so just winging it based on memories from 15 years back when I used to play decently competitively - of course I get my arse kicked :-) But it was to explore the game and showcase its performance and different graphics settings (also using Task Manager to show you the resource usage) and such, not my measly “skillz” :-)

As usual in these first looks, I provide the whole experience uncut, so you can appreciate everything and make your own conclusion.

Here we’re looking at the team games, another important part of the experience and where problems often arise in the remasters - and Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is no exception :-/ We had some good games, but also not so good ones, with stutters, FPS drops or crashing OBS or even the game itself - there are issues, or the game has them with my computer. The experience is again uncut whole, besides where OBS crashed.

Aeten II was a volcanic planet located in Wild Space. Although the terrain was dangerous, Aeten II’s abundance of stygium crystals (which were used to construct cloaking devices and lightsabers) made the planet desirable for many. Following the Clone Wars, Aeten II’s stygium deposit were depleted, and it became known as somewhat of a ghost planet.

the reason ifan still gets my goat after all this time is bc they were so clearly like
“lets make him arab but just. a little to the left” like ‘irfan’ -> ‘ifan’ and ‘ibn Mezd’ -> ‘ben-Mezd’ “ok cool now hes just ~vaguely exotic~. now we can take every opportunity to compare him to an animal and call him a suicide bomber cause hes not Actually arab”
