"We can't hide in here forever, you know," (Y/n) mumbled each word breathlessly between delicate pecks against Evan's jaw. She could feel his laugh vibrate against his sweaty chest that her fingertips were grazing over, although her fingers mostly stayed around the tattoo over the left side of his chest.
Angelica was written in black cursive ink near the lower part of his ribcage and a pair of wings were hovering just above the very fancy A of her name. Just beneath that, Eleanor was written with a rose at the end and there at the bottom, Coraline was written with a shooting star flying beneath her name. Evan had all his girls' names right beneath his heart where they belonged and in the outline of a heart over his left wrist, he had (Y/n)'s name etched into his skin.
He had her name tattooed the moment Angel had been born. They were married and had a family together, despite what people always said about getting significant other's names done in ink, Evan knew this was different. He wasn't about to leave (Y/n) and if anything were ever to happen between them, she was the mother of his children. Nothing would change that.
"What're you doing?" His voice was barely above a whisper as he tilted his head down to look at his wife while his hands dug into her hips.
Evan was stood between her legs that were bound around his lower back, her heels digging into his hips ready to pull him closer if he dared move away. The forming outline of her stomach was pressed into his abdomen and his knees were resting against the counter. He had carried her from the shower- which got even steamier than he first anticipated when he went in alone and found his wife joining him a minute later- and placed her on the counter next to the sink. He wasn't planning on letting her go just yet.
"Wondering what name will come up next. What if we actually get a boy this time, where will his name go?" (Y/n) let her fingertip trace the cursive letters that she had seen countless times over the years. Each name appeared only a week after each girl had been born.
It surprised (Y/n) that Evan managed to go as long as he did at the station without anyone knowing about his family. Clearly no one had seen him getting changed to stripping down. They would find it rather strange if they saw three different girl names tattooed onto his skin.
"I've got it planned out, if we've somehow got a boy in there," He shifted his hands round from her hips to smooth over her stomach, not truly believing they had a boy this time. "His name and footprint will go somewhere round here," Evan briefly moved his hand to the right side of his chest for an indication before he went back to holding her stomach.
Evan just knew Angel would be a girl, it had been like intuition, he was telling everyone he had a daughter before she was born and they never found out beforehand. With Ella, they both thought they would have a boy, that the chance would be one of each. Then (Y/n) had been sure Cora would be a boy, the chances of three girls in a row seemed a bit far fetched. Evan, however, was comitted to the thought that he was having a tribe of girls, that he was just meant to be a girl dad and he was smug when Cora came along.
This time he couldn't see things being any different, his girls were his world and he was betting with Maddie that it would be a fourth girl to add to his squad.
"Sounds great," (Y/n) moved her hands up to cup Evan's face and bring him closer, drowning in his bright smile that made his ruby red lips spread thin. And those deep blue eyes that creased and twinkled when he smiled at her like that.
When his hands moved to her bum and he pulled her to the edge of the counter and bumped her into his hips, (Y/n) hooked her arms around his neck, tangling her fingers in his hair. She breathed a small 'what are you up to' against his lips although she knew perfectly well what he was thinking when his hands slipped round to squeeze the underside of her thighs that he lifted higher onto his hips.
"You know I can't get more pregnant, right?" (Y/n) could barely find the breath or the will to speak but she loved the feeling of him laughing into her neck where he was sucking and biting another bruise she would have to cover up from the girls.
"They're getting up," Evan kissed a trail down her throat but it didn't matter how close he got to her, how needily he grabbed her flesh or rutted against her. It wasn't going to change the fact that he could hear the girls starting to wake up.
"You'd better be quick then, Buckley."
"Daddy,"
"Woah, babygirl, why're you hanging in doorways?" Evan stumbled back into the doorframe as he secured his left arm around (Y/n) and moved his right hand to briefly rub his eye for a moment. He looked down at Ella who was stood smack bang in the centre of the bathroom doorway when he opened the door.
He was glad he had put his pants on and that (Y/n) was wearing one of his shirts so they were covered and not exposed with their little menace lurking around corners like this.
Ella didn't answer. Instead, she tilted her head to the right and frowned. Her little hands reached out in a grabbing motion and she pointed at her mum before jumping up and down, trying to hint that Evan was carrying the wrong person around. That was where Ella should be, not her mum.
Evan leaned down to the side when (Y/n) slowly unravelled her legs from his waist and slid down until she was stood beside him with her head tucked into his chest to hide her smile from their pouting daughter.
"I'm gonna get Cora up," Reaching up on her toes, (Y/n) pressed a lasting kiss to Evan's jaw and with her hand that was already around his waist, she lopped her fingers into the elastic of his boxers and snapped them against his hip. She jumped out of his arms when he gasped and jolted forward and she hurried into the nursery before he could think twice about chasing after her.
"Me." Ella lifted her arms again and pouted until Evan swooped down to pick her up.
"Come on, I need to get dressed then we can have breakfast."
He settled Ella down in the middle of his and (Y/n)'s bed so he could get dressed, narrowing his eyes and sticking his tongue out at her to make her smile and giggle. Evan tightened his belt loop and shrugged on his shirt before he sat down on the edge of the bed to button it up and grab a pair of socks.
When he leaned over to put on his socks, Ella moved forward and leaned up on his back with her arms wrapped around his neck and her face nuzzled into his shoulder.
"Hungry?" He questioned as he stood up and looped an arm behind him to keep her stable on his back.
"Maybe,"
"Hm, only maybe?"
A smile lit up Evan's face when he headed downstairs and his sights set on his eldest girl walking just ahead of him towards the kitchen. Evan tilted his head towards Ella who was leaning over his shoulder and brought a finger to his lips before he creeped over towards Angel. When she was past the doorway to the kitchen, Evan swooped his left arm out and lifted Angel off her feet and spun round with one girl in each arm.
He could feel Ella squealing into his shoulder and Angel gripped his forearm and screamed happily as her feet left the ground and she felt her dad kissing the side of her head.
"Daddy!" Angel tilted her head back on his shoulder and kicked her legs out as he carried her through the kitchen towards the fridge.
When he reached the fridge, Evan turned around and pushed his back up to the counter until Ella could let go of him and sit down on the counter and he could hold Angel with both arms and turn her around so she was facing him. She looped her arms lazily around his neck and brushed her nose against his causing him to grin and squint at her.
"Morning sweetie," Evan kissed her cheek before he set her back down to her feet and he moved his hands out in front of him. "What's for breakfast?" He bent each finger except for his index and middle fingers on both hands and pressed his right fingers against his left wrist to sign 'breakfast'.
Evan liked the routine he had gotten into with the girls recently. When he was on shift in the morning, he would get up, have his breakfast with the girls and drop them at school on the way to the station. His shifts were falling into the twenty four hour category right now which Evan didn't mind because then he got a few days off in a row to be with the girls. It was easier than coming home late at night to only see them for bedtime or working nights and sleeping through the day until they came home from school.
He didn't like night shifts unless it was for a twenty four hour shift, he wasn't good at sleeping during the day, it warped his body clock.
"Scrambled eggs,"
"Grab me the eggs then, Ella, you want an omlette with me baby?"
"Yeah,"
Evan bypassed Angel and moved towards the fridge, reaching up towards the top shelf for the small carton of milk they had hidden up there. He couldn't have a coffee without milk but with Ella, it meant any milk they had needed to be kept away from everything else in the fridge and if some spilled in the kitchen, it had to be mopped up straight away.
There was also a rule that Angel couldn't use or get the milk out without one of her parents watching. They couldn't risk any spillages around Ella. And since Angel and (Y/n) both hated the vegan cheese that didn't use milk, they hid all the dairy products on the top shelf of the fridge.
He waited for Angel to crack some eggs into a jug and he leaned over her shoulder to pour a drop of milk in for her so she could put it in the microwave. Evan knew he didn't have to tell her by now that when she was finished with the jug and all her dishes, they went straight in the sink and didn't mingle with any of Ella's plastic plates or forks and such. Nothing of Ella's touched anything of theirs when dairy was concerned.
"Here you go baby," Evan handed Ella two eggs and a small tub of mushrooms and he got a pan out on the cooker. She was surprisingly good at not getting any shell in the pan.
He watched her closely, arching his back out and planting his hands down on either side of Ella on the counter while she threw a big handful of mushrooms into the pan. A grin pulled at Evan's lips when he leaned his forehead down onto Ella's shoulder and she started to shake her fingers through his hair like she was petting him.
They all worked like clockwork, a routine that had taken a lot of time to perfect and usually ended up with Evan almost being late to work until now.
Angel got the plates out and a plastic bowl for Cora to have some scrambled egg and Evan dished it all up just as (Y/n) walked into the kitchen with Cora in her arms.
"Do you want an omelette mummy?" Ella trotted with her plate towards the table and (Y/n) smiled at the girls but shook her head.
"No thank you baby."
Food wasn't agreeing with her lately, this was the first pregnancy that was actually giving (Y/n) a problem with morning sickness. She had been fussy about food when they were expecting Cora but lately, most smells were off-putting and when she tried to eat she was gagging and coughing before she even finished one bite of food. Breakfast was usually missed most days now and sometimes lunch was given a miss too.
"Here, have one of these," Evan scouted through the cabinet until he found the protein shakes he had hidden up there, just in case either of the girls saw them and thought they would snatch one.
He had bought a pack of protein bottles and a box of powder sachets to add to drinks so if (Y/n) wasn't eating, she was at least having something. Needless to say, Evan wasn't best pleased and turned very concerned when the midwife told them at their last scan that (Y/n) wasn't really putting much weight on during this pregnancy and he realised how little she was actually eating.
He made himself a quick coffee in his flask and left it on the side along with his keys, ready to drink after he dropped the girls off. Usually he used to need his coffee before he had breakfast, before he even got dressed to try and wake himself up. But if he did that, then he couldn't give Ella a morning kiss because he had milk in his coffee and even the transferance of milk like that would set off her allergy.
(Y/n) took the shake from him with a smile and let him take Cora from her so he could feed her at the table. Her eyes followed him fondly as he sat at the table with Cora perched on his lap, trying to take the watch off his wrist. Their youngest was like a magpie, anything shiny that she saw, she wanted.
Cora had inherited Evan's blue eyes that were so transfixed on his watch that she didn't bother to put up a fuss when he fed her like she normally did in the morning.
Her fists bashed against his wrist and her fingers got stuck under the strap on his left wrist that was around her middle. And Evan used the distraction to spoon a mouthful of scrambled eggs up and get her to eat.
Arching her back out, (Y/n) leaned her elbows on the counter in front of her and tried to drink the protein shake that tasted just like a very thick strawberry milkshake. In their house, they were used to calling them 'shakes' because when Ella heard the word milk, she panicked. To her, shakes were fruit smoothies and to Angel they meant either a smoothie or an actual milkshake.
(Y/n) couldn't sit at the table, not when she could smell the strong scent of eggs and the toast Angel had made. It made her stomach churn just thinking about it and the protein shake was already setting heavy in her stomach and making her throat tense with each gulp she took.
"Good girl," Evan praised when Cora ate most of her breakfast before she started to kick her legs out and bash her hands on his arm. Her sign that she wanted to go mooch about rather than sit here with them at the table.
Cora was only one and she could crawl and stand up if she had something to lean on, but she couldn't walk yet. Evan was desperate not to miss that moment. When Angel and Ella started to walk Evan was in odd jobs such as working at a bar during the nights, so he didn't miss their first words or steps. Now he was a firefighter, it was the only job he could ever see himself doing, but he knew it was going to mess with a few things with the family.
He didn't want to miss Cora's milestones or their next baby's milestones but he wasn't guaranteed to see them either. The only thing he was guaranteed was to be there at the birth when their next one was born.
Evan had cut the cords for all of their girls and he was determined to do it again this time around.
Standing up, Evan headed through to the living room and placed Cora down in the play cot beneath the bay window so she could scramble around with her toys and make as much noise and disruption as she pleased.
On his way back through to the kitchen, Evan grabbed a pink bobble lying unused on the side table and wrapped it around his wrist before he headed over to Angel. If he didn't do her hair now she would only grab him when they were heading out the door and demand he did her hair before they left. Evan would admit he wasn't the best at styling the girls hair, but he did alright and Angel had a thing for him platting or trying to mess with her hair.
He was sure it was somehow sensory for her, she would sit still for an hour and let him tangle his hands in her hair and mess with it and do all sorts of random styles and she didn't care. She didn't fidget like Ella did.
He stood behind Angel's chair and slowly started to drag his fingers through her hair, scraping it up so he could put it in a high ponytail. Just as he got the bobble wrapped once around her long sandy hair, his head snapped to the right and he looked across at (Y/n).
"You didn't just throw that up, did you?" Evan moved his hands down to rest on Angel's shoulders but his eyes stayed focused on his wife.
He could see the way she was hunched over the sink with one hand tightly gripping the edge of the sink and her other arm tightly bound around her middle. A sigh passed through his lips when (Y/n) didn't respond or turn around to face him; that gave him his answer.
"Alright you two, shoes on, go get ready." Evan arched his back and leaned over Angel until she tilted her head back to look up at him sweetly. He held his left hand out and curved his right hand over his left, moving his hand back and forth to sign for her to get her shoes on. They needed to get ready so he could drop them both off at school.
As soon as the pair of them left the table, Evan walked through the kitchen until he was stood behind (Y/n) with his hands on her hips and his lips smothering the back of her head. He didn't like going to work and leaving her when she felt like this. She had Cora to feed which wouldn't help her if she felt sick and then she had to go and pick up the girls this afternoon and make tea for them. And since he was on a double shift, she had to do the bath and bedtime routine for all three of them on her own.
"Are you gonna be okay if I go? I won't be back til tomorrow afternoon," Evan wouldn't finish or even leave the station until around lunchtime tomorrow and then he said he would pop and see Maddie and check how she was settling into her new apartment before he came home. He didn't want to go to work wondering if (Y/n) was going to be alright on her own.
"I'll be alright, I'll feel better by the time I have to get the girls from school, I promise." (Y/n) rubbed at her eyes before she turned around in Evan's arms and reached her hands up to caress his neck and jaw.
"If you don't feel well you have to ring me, I can always ask Maddie to pop round,"
Having his sister close by had never felt like such a blessing. Evan knew it had been hard on Maddie when she was with Doug, living so far away from him and the girls. She had been there when he got married and when she argued with Doug once and tried to leave, she had stayed with (Y/n) and Evan and had been around for Angel's birth. Then when Ella and Cora were born she travelled down to stay a week with them, but she always missed them when she couldn't come down to visit.
And Evan knew he didn't make things easier for her when he wouldn't let Doug come down.
He told Maddie she was always welcome in his home and he wanted her around more, but he refused point blank to entertain Doug. He wouldn't have that man around his daughters. But now she had left him and was staying in LA and so nearby, Evan felt complete. He had all his girls, his sister included, right by him where he wanted and needed them.
If he rang his sister and asked if she would stop by and check in on (Y/n), she never minded.
"I'll be fine, baby."
"You'd better be," He pressed his finger beneath her chin to tilt her head up towards him while a soft smile spread across his face. "I love you both, and I'll see you tomorrow,"
***
Holding the door open, Evan leaned back and let Maddie walk in front of him into the house before he followed swiftly after her and shut the door. He had helped put a few new pictures up on the walls at her place but he couldn't refuse his big sister when she asked to come back with him and see the girls.
"Angel's in there," Evan pointed towards the living room while he kicked off his boots and Maddie hung up her coat on the rack. Her head ticked to the side and she looked at him quizically.
"How do you know that?" He had only just walked in the door along with her, how could he possibly know which girl was sitting in the living room?
"I saw the tv when I pulled in the drive, subtitles are on." He had caught a glimpse of the tv through the bay window when they got here and he could see Cinderella on tv with subtitles at the bottom. That and the fact that he could barely hear the tv in the hallway meant it was Angel in the living room. If it was Ella, she would have been blasting out the lyrics and (Y/n) always turned the tv up loud. Angel was the only one who had the subtitles on.
Evan followed Maddie into the front room and a fond smile overtook his features as he watched her go up to the sofa and lean over the back. She stood on her tiptoes to curve over the back of the sofa and wrap her arms around Angel who squealed loudly before babbling 'Auntie Maddie' a few times.
She was only ever comfortable talking around close family such as her parents or Maddie. The school were having a difficult time getting her to speak in class, even though she was in a select class specifically for hearing impaired children.
But Evan loved it when she spoke, even though just like him and (Y/n), she would use sign language at the same time out of habit. Her voice may be a little quiet or high at times and her words were slurred and drawled, but he loved her voice all the same.
Angel sat up on her knees and turned around to properly hug Maddie and her eyes shone and she waved when she saw Evan walking into the room.
"Hi baby," He walked over and kissed the top of her head, brushing his thumb across her cheek while Maddie moved towards the cot beneath the window, grinning and cooing at Cora who was starting to wake up. "How was school?" He wrapped one arm around her waist when Angel clung to his neck and he lifted her effortlessly up over the sofa so he could give her a bear hug.
"Good, we can go swimming tomorrow,"
"That's cool, we all need to go swimming, get Cora learning," Evan pressed another kiss to the top of her head. He remembered seeing the letter stuck on the fridge last week saying that Angel's class were going to do weekly swim sessions. He had signed the form but the letter was still on the fridge so none of them forgot she had to pack her costume into her school bag.
Evan leaned down and set Angel back on her feet but his head snapped towards the kitchen when he heard Ella's unmistakeable high-pitched scream followed by a very worrying cry.
He locked eyes with Maddie who paused her little dance with Cora as Evan gently nudged Angel towards her aunt before he took off towards the kitchen. He had heard something clatter, most likely Ella had dropped something and scared herself or thought she was going to get into trouble.
"Sweetheart you're fine- just come here-" (Y/n) dragged her hand through her hair before she tried to reach out for Ella but she screamed again sending a shudder through (Y/n)'s system.
Her eyes widened when she looked over and saw Evan stood in the doorway to the kitchen, trying to see what was going on.
(Y/n) had only been making up a bottle of milk for Cora because she knew the toddler would be waking up from her nap right around now. She didn't hear or see Ella toddle up behind her and when she turned around, she tripped over Ella. The bottle in her hand went flying and when it collided with the floor, milk sprayed out, splattering up the fridge, puddling across the floor and lathering Ella's legs.
Another horrid scream left Ella's lips which made (Y/n)'s head rattle and she closed her eyes, fighting off the headache as she slowly went down on her knees to grab the bottle and try to nudge Ella away from the mess. The five year old had just frozen in panic.
"Baby girl, come here." Evan moved over and grabbed Ella under the arms and lifted her up to move her away from the puddle on the floor.
He carefully stood her up on the table so she was level with him but when a burning cry left her lips, Evan cupped her face in his hands and leaned close until their temples were touching. The contact made her take a deep breath and the trace of a smile on his otherwise concerned yet stern face caught her full attention.
"Ella, if you can scream, then you're not going to go into shock. Look at me, you're fine, it didn't touch your skin, you didn't swallow any milk."
Evan kissed her nose before he reached over and grabbed the tea towel and started to swipe the remnants from her tiny leggings and make sure it didn't go anywhere else or actually touch her skin, just to be safe. She was using all her breath to scream, that was enough of a sign for her parents that she wasn't about to go into anaphylactic shock or it would have happened immediately.
A small whimper left her lips until Evan picked her back up and settled her on his hip, letting her burrow into his neck and curl her arms up against his chest like she was trying to disappear. He did his best to dodge round the puddle on the floor so he could reach (Y/n). He crouched down beside her and hooked his free arm under (Y/n)'s and lifted her up with him.
"Go sit down, I'll get Ella changed and clean this up. Maddie's here, she's snatched Cora so she won't need a bottle yet." He had to change Ella, just to be on the safe side, she would just scratch her legs and panic if not. But he would deal with the slight puddle of milk if (Y/n) went to sit down for five minutes with the girls.
Maddie had stolen Cora who would be happy and entertained for the time being. It was what she always did, came in, attached to the girls and entertained them and played with them. (Y/n) didn't have to do everything on her own, Evan was home now.
"Thank you," (Y/n) brought her hands up to rest on his chest before she pushed up to kiss him. She could feel his hand winding down from her waist to caress her bum when she sank her teeth down into his lower lip.
But a gasp left Evan's lips and his eyes shot open when Ella whined a grumpy 'daddy' before she grabbed his face and turned his head back towards her in a huff of jealously. He could taste the specks of blood on his lower lip from being roughly pulled away from (Y/n) and he darted his tongue out over his lip while his brows rose in shock.
"That wasn't very nice. You're needy, you know that?" He pouted down at his middle daughter but the only response he got was Ella patting his cheeks and pulling him down for a kiss.
"I wonder who she gets it from,"

Monster Among Men
Tumblr media
wc: 3.4k
September 1, 1977
It was a well-known fact that Y/n Potter and Regulus Black despised each other. The two had been at each other's throats since the day they met on the Hogwarts Express. Y/n and Regulus were like fire and ice. They were polar opposites and hated each other with every fiber of their being.
Their rivalry began with petty insults and minor jinxes, but over time it grew into a deep-seated hatred for each other. They were competitive in everything they did, from Academic success to Quidditch, and their constant feuding had become notorious among the rest of the student body. No matter how much the two of them attempted to avoid one another, somehow their paths always ended up crossing with one another and it would usually end up with Y/N screaming and prefects pulling the two away from each other before anyone got hurt—meaning, the bystanders who often got hit by stray hexes and jinxes. That being said, everyone knew better than to be in the way when Y/n Potter and Regulus Black were both in the same room.
Platform nine and three quarters was bustling with students as it was every first of September. As a sixth year student, Y/n should've been used to it by now. But every time her eyes met with the scarlet steam engine train, she felt like a little first year, eager to learn magic on her own. Like every other student on the platform, her parents were fussing over her, making sure that she had everything that she needed for the whole term.
“Yes, Mum. I have everything in my trunk, and yes I'll keep out of trouble. Honestly Mum, you should reserve this speech for Jamie. He's head boy, he can get away with everything now.” Y/n chuckled as her mother ruffled her hair.
“Well, can I at least expect you to keep your brothers in line?” Euphemia asked her daughter, casting a look at James and Sirius—who is now an honorary Potter since Christmas of 1976.
“You know Jamie and Sirius, Mum. They're bloody menaces.”
“Language, young lady.” Fleamont chuckled, “But, you're right. Just….make sure they won't do anything reckless?”
“I'll try, Dad. But I'm not liable for anything.” Y/n giggled as she hugged her mother.
“James! Sirius!” Euphemia called for her sons, “Take care of your sister, alright? It's your final year with her.”
“Of course, Mum! I'll keep an eye out for tiny Potter.” Sirius chuckled as he put his arm around Y/n, earning a glare from the petite witch.
“Yeah, we'll make sure no one messes with my baby sister. Any boy who'll ask her out will go through us.” James grinned at his little sister, who rolled her eyes at him.
“Honestly, Jamie.” Y/n shook her head.
“No boyfriends until you're thirty, baby sis.” James smirked.
“James, let your sister have some fun.” Euphemia chuckled as tried to flatten James' hair, which didn't make any difference.
“I agree with James. No boyfriends for you until you're thirty years old, my little angel.” Fleamont hugged his daughter tightly.
“Let the girl live, Monty. She won't be a little girl forever.” Euphemia glared at her husband, “You too, James, Sirius.”
“Fine.” All three men huffed, earning a giggle from both women.
“Go on, my darlings. Get on the train,” Euphema chuckled, wrapping her arm around her husband's waist,  “be sure to write!”
The Potter siblings along with Sirius stepped onto the train, waving at their parents as the train departed. The trio then walked to their compartment, which the Marauders claimed at the end of their second year.
“Hey Moony.” Y/n smiled as she entered the compartment, “Where's Pete?“
“Not sure,” Remus shrugged, “Haven't seen him yet.”
“I bet he's with that Hufflepuff bird.” Sirius said as he sat across Remus, “Wormtail's been pining after the girl for a year.”
“Well, if he is with her, good for him. He got the girl, unlike Jamie here.” Y/n chuckled, sitting beside Remus.
James rolled his eyes at his sister as he sat beside Sirius, “Mark my words, Evans will be mine by the end of the year.”
“Yeah, yeah, Prongsie. You've been telling us that for the last six years.”
“Good luck, Jamie. You're gonna need it more than ever.” Y/n giggled, patting her brother on his cheek.
“Evans will love me, I just know it.” James sighed contentedly.
“Yuck,” Sirius playfully cringed, “You look like a lovesick puppy again.” Y/n burst out laughing, almost falling out of her seat.
“I hate you guys.” James huffed playfully.
“You love us.” Sirius grinned cheekily.
“You boys go ahead and talk…..boy stuff. I'm going to find Lily before the Head's meeting.” Y/n said as she got up, fixing the muggle clothes, flattening out any wrinkles, making sure she looked a bit presentable. “I'll be back in a bit.” she smiled at the boys before stepping out of the compartment.
“Pitch in a good word about me to Evans!” James yelled from behind her. Y/n kept on walking, a smile on her lips. Her brother was hopelessly in love with the feisty redhead, Lily Evans.
Y/n walked down the long corridor of the train, scanning each compartment for her  red-headed best friend. Suddenly, the smell of sea salt, eucalyptus, sandalwood, and firewhiskey invaded her nostrils, and before she was even aware of its presence, Y/n collided with something hard.
“You should watch where you're going, Potter.” His voice was as deep as the atlantic and emerald eyes locked into her hazel ones, as if he was staring into her soul. It was Regulus Black, the person she hated the most. Despite hating the Slytherin, Y/n couldn't help but notice changes in him. He didn't look like that boy who pushed her aside years ago. Y/n would be daft if she didn't admit that Regulus Black was drop dead gorgeous. His hair was much shorter than what she last saw, his curls framed his face better unlike the slicked back style he wore for the past five years. He looked like Sirius, though Regulus' aristocratic features were more defined—his jawline sharper than his older brother. The only thing left from the boy was his perpetual scowl.
Y/n scoffed, snapping out of her thoughts, “You bumped into me, Black.”
“Still not paying attention where you're going huh, Potter? Strutting around like you're some kind of goddess.” He sneered, looking her up and down.
“I do not strut, Black.” Y/n snapped.
“Oh, but you do, my dearest Potter.” Regulus spat as he glared at the smaller witch in front of him.
“You, you, pompous, arrogant git!”
“Ah, we're back to the petty insults?” He smirked, “Of course, it's practically tradition at this point.”
“You insufferable prat,” Y/n spat, “get out of my bloody way.’’
“Gladly.” He pushed past the little witch, shoving her slightly to the side.
Y/n let out an exasperated sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. She then stormed back to the compartment, Lily would have to wait. As soon as she opened the doors, she immediately sat beside her brother, in an effort to calm herself down.
“What's got your knickers in a twist, tiny Potter?” Sirius asked tentatively.
Y/n shot him a dirty look before sighing, “Your fucking brother.”
“Just ignore him, Y/n.” Remus sighed, closing his book. “He's not worth it.”
“What did he do this time?” Sirius snickered while James snorted. Y/n didn't understand they found her misery funny. Every time that Y/N complained about the younger Black, they'd find a way to make it hilarious.
“He bumped into me, again. Told me I was strutting!” Y/n huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Reggie is a prat, tiny Potter. He's mummy's little boy, a spoiled git at best.” Sirius laughed.
“I don't care. If he crosses me again, I'm going to break his pretty little face.”
Remus raised a brow, “Oh, so you think he's pretty?”
Y/n's eyes widened, “W-what? No! I don't think—”
Sirius smirked, “Pretty face, huh?”
“He looks like you, Padfoot! Of course, he has a pretty face.” Y/n insisted, her cheeks flushing.
“Oi, quit teasing my sister.” James huffed, “She doesn't fancy your brother, Pads. Y/n/n despises him, more than we hate Snivellus.”
“Well, the blush on her cheeks says otherwise, Prongsie.” Sirius chuckled.
“I do not and will never fancy Regulus Black!” Y/n snapped, shooting a threatening glare at Sirius.
Regulus Black was the leader of the prats, according to Y/n Potter. It was nothing new, for everyone else, seeing them bicker almost every day. There was no way in hell that Y/n would like him, she would rather drown in the black lake. He was an insufferable git for all the years that Y/n knew him and she'd rather punch him in the face.
“Enough of that,” James stood up, offering his hand out to Y/n. “We need to get to the prefect's carriage.” Y/n's scowl turned into a bright smile. “Oh, right! I'll just go and change into my robes. Now, all of you, get out.” James and Remus chuckled, while Sirius pouted, “Oh come on, tiny Potter, grace my eyes-” James hit him on the head, “Pervert.”
The trio stepped out of the compartment, giving the younger witch privacy. After a few minutes, Y/n stepped out wearing her Gryffindor robes with a shiny prefect badge pinned onto the left side robes.
“Authority looks good on you, Y/n,” Sirius grinned, “You can boss me around and I'd-”
“My sister, Padfoot!” James growled.
“Oh please, Prongsie, can't blame me for appreciating tiny Potter's beauty.” Sirius smirked, earning him a smack on the head from a protective James Potter.
Y/n rolled her eyes at the sight of a pouting Sirius Black, before she took hold of Remus' hand. “Take me away from the idiots, please.” she chuckled, tugging on his arm.
Remus chuckled, “Gladly.”
The walk to the Prefects carriage was in perfect silence—aside from the huffing from Sirius, which Y/n chose to ignore. Remus had been a Prefect since his fifth year, along with Lily Evans. Y/n had been made a prefect as replacement for Lily, who is currently taking up the post of Head Girl. Y/n was ecstatic when she received her badge, she had been dreaming of becoming a Prefect since she was a first year—much like her friend, Lily. As soon as they approached the carriage, Y/n stepped aside, allowing Remus to open the door for her.
“Such a gentleman.” Y/n chuckled as she walked in first, James following her and finally Remus. Sirius stayed back, flirting with fifth year Ravenclaws.
Y/n looked around, scanning the faces of each appointed Prefect. There was Alice Fortescue and Frank Longbottom, the other two prefects from Gryffindor. Florence Bell, Amaryllis Abbott, Francis Fawley and Christopher Gideon from Hufflepuff. Emmeline Vance, Julia Boot, Gilderoy Lockhart, and Dirk Creswell from Ravenclaw. And finally her eyes landed on a certain Slytherin. Regulus Black was standing besides Severus Snape, Pandora Rosier, and Dorcas Meadowes. Regulus Black had his lips curled into a sneer as his eyes settled on her. Y/n scowled at him and walked to the furthest seat away from the younger Black, Remus trailing behind her.
“Why the hell is Potter here?” Severus Snape sneered at James. Y/n smiled cheekily, knowing that it would rile him up. “Which one?”
“You know what I mean, Potter.” Snape sneered.
“Oh, you didn't know?” Y/n smirked, feigning innocence. “Jamie's Head Boy.” Snape scowled, but kept his mouth shut when Lily Evans glared at him. The redhead sighed, before muttering, “This is going to be a long year.”
“Patrols will be done as pairs. Professor McGonagall is aiming for unity between houses, meaning each pair shall be from different houses. Here is a list of the pairs,” Lily smiled, passing one parchment to a Hufflepuff prefect on the right and the other to a Ravenclaw prefect on the left, “please note that these pairings were chosen by Professor McGonagall. I had nothing to do with this, same with the Head Boy.”
“I hope I'm partnered with you, Moony.” Y/n smiled, playfully nudging the older boy beside her. “You and me both, Y/n.” Remus chuckled, ruffling her hair.
“Here you go.’’ The fifth year Ravenclaw smiled brightly, passing the parchment to Y/n. Muttering a quick 'thank you', she grabbed the piece of parchment, scanning it for her name.
Remus Lupin and Florence Bell
Amaryllis Abbott and Gilderoy Lockhart
Dirk Cresswell and Pandora Rosier
Severus Snape and Julia Boot
Francis Fawley and Alice Fortescue
Frank Longbottom and Emmeline Vance
Christopher Gideon and Dorcas Meadowes
Regulus Black and Y/n Potter
Y/n's eyes widened, “Oh, no, no, no.” Her hands gripped the parchment in horror. Her partner was none other than Regulus Black.
“Who'd you get partnered with, baby sis?” James asked as he approached his sister with a warm smile, wrapping his arm over her shoulder. He peeked over the parchment, eyes widening at the name beside his sister's name. A teasing grin spread across his lips, “Good luck, you're gonna need it, more than ever.” James chuckled, using his sister's words against her.
Y/n wanted to hit her brother, but she stood frozen, her eyes glued to the parchment in her hands. She let out a shaky exhale, before her eyes darted across the room, locking with emerald green that belonged to Regulus Black.
“Please, please, try to remember that you all are Prefects. And as Prefects, you are not only representing your own respective Houses but the whole school in general as well. Please do not abuse the authority bestowed upon you, being biased shouldn't be taken into your duties as Prefects.” Lily informed with a pleading look in her eyes as her gaze turned to the Slytherin prefects. She took a deep breath before turning back to face everyone else. “I know the previous Head Girl and Boy were a little…..nonchalant in terms of being authoritative figures, which frankly in my opinion, is utterly careless, having multiple bullying cases from last year. I fully plan on making sure each and every one of you are treated fairly, none of those biased opinions.” Lily turned to James, who was making his way towards her after clapping his sister on the back. He ran a hand through his hair, making it messier as it regularly was. He stood right beside the redhead, flashing her a grin, which Lily rolled her eyes at. “As Head Boy, Potter, do you have anything else you'd like to add?”
“Please, just try to be civil with one another, despite who your partners are, alright? They will be your partners for the whole year, better not start on the wrong foot, yeah?”
Lily clapped her hands, “Now that we have the patrol partners settled, please go to your respective partners. As part of the Inter-house unity, you must get to know one another.”
Y/n did not want to spend her nights for the whole year with Regulus Black. She would rather jump off the astronomy tower, than be his partner for the whole year. As everyone walked up to their respective partners, Regulus Black and Y/n Potter stood still in their places. Y/n had her arms crossed over her chest as she blatantly refused to walk up to Regulus, much to Lily's annoyance.
“If you two don't get your stubborn arses together right now, I will body bind the both of you together.” Lily threatened with a sickening sweet voice that made Y/n wince.
Y/n huffed, before walking towards Regulus. She stood beside him, still making sure there was enough distance between them. The two stood in silence, not bothering to look at one another.
“Oh, for the love of God.” Lily muttered as she saw Y/n and Regulus standing back to back. “Talk!” she yelled, making Y/n jump. She rolled her eyes, before turning to face Regulus, who was smirking at her.
“What the fuck are you smirking at?”
“So hostile, Potter.” Regulus rolled his eyes, “Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?”
“Arrogant git.”
“Annoying bitch.”
Y/n gasped, “You did not just call me a bitch!”
“You started it, Potter. Don't act so offended.” Regulus smirked. Y/n scowled at him, wanting to punch the smug look on his face.
“I hate you.” Y/n spat.
“Glad the feeling's mutual, Potter.”
After a few more reminders from Lily, the meeting finally ended—much to the pleasure of Y/n Potter. One by one, the Prefects stepped out of the room. Leaving Lily, James, Y/n, Remus, a sneering Severus Snape, and Regulus Black, of all people.
"It's preposterous that after everything you've done over the last six years, Potter, the old codger made you, of all students, Head Boy.”
Y/n's head immediately snapped at his direction, “You honestly thought it would be you, Snivellus?” Y/n laughed humorlessly, “Don't make us all laugh, you greasy git.”
Snape clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing at the female Potter, stepping towards her. “No one asked you for your opinion, Potter.” Snape spat, “You're just as insufferable as your brother.”
“For your information, Snivellus, my brother deserved getting appointed as Head Boy. Have you seen him lead the Gryffindor quidditch team into victory? Oh wait,” Y/n feigned ignorance, “everyone else in Slytherin were too busy complaining about losing every single year to even see Gryffindor's talent.” Y/n spat, glaring daggers at Snape who in turn snarled at her, stepping forward into Y/n's personal space. As expected, Remus instinctively stepped beside Y/n, ready to protect the youngest Potter from Snape. Lily tried to step in, but Y/n's threatening low vice stopped her tracks, making her sigh and shake her head—though still on her guard, gripping her wand in case.
“If you don't get out of my personal space, Snape, I will make sure you'll regret being born.”
James, who strangely didn't come to his sister's rescue and kept calm despite what was happening, cleared his throat loudly. “If you don't mind, Snape,” James stood beside Lily, “Evans and I have work to do.”
Snape scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Drop the act, Potter.”
“I'm just doing my job and trying to get through it without causing a problem.” James insisted calmly—which was hard enough to say the least.
“He doesn't deserve that badge, and you know it!” Snape spat angrily.
Snape turned to his former best friend, “Lily, you can't possibly  think he's changed!”
The redhead rolled her eyes, before standing up straight and walking up to James. “Please excuse us, Snape. We have jobs to finish before we arrive at Hogwarts.” Lily said flatly.
“One more word about my brother I swear to Merlin-”
“Or what?” Snape taunted, glaring at the little witch in front of him.
“I'm going to shove your wand far up your arse until it comes out your abnormally large ugly nose!”
“Back down, Snape.” Regulus Black's icy tone echoed in their ears, their heads snapping towards him. Snape scowled, “You can't possibly be defending Potter.”
“I am not defending anyone, I'm doing my duty as Prefect. Evans,” he jerked his head towards the redhead witch, “has made it clear that biased opinions are not to be brought in situations like….this.”
Snape scoffed, “Potter's being a bitch! You can't-”
“I said back down, Snape!” Regulus hissed, “If you cannot be civil, take your objections to McGonagall or Dumbledore! You are acting like a child.” He growled at the older Slytherin, his green eyes flashing with annoyance.
Lily, James, and Remus fell silent. Did Regulus Black really defend Y/n? Meanwhile, Y/nbscowled at the two Slytherins—not paying attention to the door that suddenly opened. Sirius poked his head in, a grin plastered on his face.
“Wow, the air here is thick.” Sirius eyed his friends, before his gaze fell on his brother—he scowled, before quickly looking away before anyone could notice.
“Anybody got a knife?” Sirius said cheekily, which made his friends plus Lily groan. “One can easily cut the tension with it.”

AITA for agreeing to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding even though I think she's making a huge mistake?
(Emojis so I recognize it 👰‍♀️💍🤵)
So my (24F) cousin Anna (21F) got engaged at the start of December. This was really surprising to me because the last time I saw her at Thanksgiving she was just starting to get back into dating via tinder after a couple bad breakups, and she wasn't actively seeing anyone yet. When I got home for Christmas break, my mother told me that Anna had gotten engaged to and moved in with her new boyfriend, Evan (~22/23M), an army guy she'd met three weeks before and that no one but her immediate family had even met yet.
Our family has always been pretty close, and this was concerning for a lot of reasons. 1) she literally just had a nasty breakup with her rebound boyfriend after a nasty breakup with her last long-term relationship, making this guy her 4th serious boyfriend this year, 2) she historically has very bad taste in men, every boyfriend she has ever had had treated her horribly and she ties her entire self-worth up into how her boyfriend sees her so she's literally never been single for more than a couple weeks since high school, 3) her older sister (28F) literally just left a 13 year abusive relationship with the guy who started grooming her when she was 15 and he was 28, 4) the groom is about to ship out for a 9 month deployment a month after their March wedding and military men are notorious for cheating or divorcing on long deployments, 5) she wants her dream wedding in March (giving us only 2 months to plan and fundraise), despite her parents already being in tight financial straits bc they started building a house right before unexpectedly needing to take in and help provide for their eldest daughter and her two kids and both my grandparents (who live with them) having sudden drops in their health to the point where my grandfather probably will pass in the next couple months and my grandmother could pass at any time (though tbf, were pretty sure no one has told Anna this since my grandparents don't want to scare her and her mom's in denial).
I also just really don't like the groom bc the one time I met him he made a ton of racist and homophobic jokes despite there being multiple black and queer family members present, but if that were the only thing I could probably bite my tongue since I don't think that's something that bothers her or anyone else in the family. I'm just really worried about her, since it seems like she's been going through something for a while and I know how hard this is on my whole family, especially my grandparents, since we all are really scared about what's going to happen to her if things go wrong and considering the circumstances, that's a good chance this will go wrong.
I want to make it clear, I do really want this to work out for her. She's head over heels in love and he seems to care about her too. I just don't expect it to go well and I've said as much to anyone who asked how I feel about it.
Here's where I could be the asshole: Anna's really having a hard time with the entire family telling her this is a bad and impulsive idea, feeling like everyone who has a problem with it isn't supporting her. She called and asked me to be a bridesmaid, specifically because "you've always looked out for and supported me even when no one else did, so I really want you to be my bridesmaid." I told her I would love to be there and support her however she wanted me to, and I fully intend to be the best bridesmaid I can be because I want this to be a happy memory for her and to take as much stress off her and her parents as possible. But now she thinks I support this marriage when I definitely don't and have been open about that with both our moms as well as her sister (the maid of honor), my SIL (also a bridesmaid), and my brother (a groomsman), all of whom are in the same boat.
So, am I the asshole for agreeing to be my cousin's bridesmaid while thinking she's making a big mistake?
What are these acronyms?

HEAR ME OUT
James Potter son of Apollo smth smth prophecy looming over him that no one really tells him about. Its either about him or his bloodline
Dumbledore and McGonagall, camp directors, who know about the prophecy and about the other gods but never really tell anyone.
Peter Pettigrew, satyr protector to James and Marlene who brought them to camp.
Marlene Mckinnon, daughter of Hermes
Mary Mcdonald, daughter of Aphrodite
Lily Evans, daughter of Hecate
Remus Lupin, son of Athena, had been targeted by Lycaon the werewolf king, the og werewolf if you will.
One day, Sirius just shows up at camp, changing everything James thought he knew about himself and the gods.
He's passed out at the entry of the camp when Remus finds him and brings him to Dumbledore and McGonagall. Remus can't help but groan in disgust as he startles awake "you drool when you sleep" he tells him.
Turns out, Sirius has amnesia and the only thing he can remember is his name. Just his first name.
He can remember other stuff as well, like the names of the gods and monsters, except he knows them all in Roman and even though he's a bit rough around the edges and flinches a lot and acts tough, James decides to stick with him.
They go on a quest, yada yada yada, Sirius feels like he should remember someone important but he just can't put his finger on it.
Soon the four- James, Sirius, Remus and Peter become fast friends, and Sirius seems to have no issue with forgetting his "past life" since he has a feeling this one is much better.
Everything is going fine, Sirius like Remus, Remus likes Sirius, though neither of them will ever admit it, James is loud and proud about his crush on Lily.
Until one day when they run into someone else on a quest. They heard from Peter about a group of demigods, only to discover they aren't some helpless eleven year olds but rather fully trained vicious, broody, sarcastic annoying demigods. James doesn't remember seeing them at camp, but they all have weapons and they keep talking about their home. There's three of them, Regulus Black, son of Hades, Dorcas Meadows, daughter of Nike and Barty Crouch Jr, son of Nemesis.
Sirius falls off a cliff lol so James, Remus, Peter, Regulus and Lily go on a quest to get him back. EXCEPT THEY DON'T KNOW SIRIUS AND REGULUS ARE RELATED. James never says the name of his friend who fell off the cliff, he just calls him "Padfoot" or the occasional "Pads" and Regulus doesn't really talk at all about his family or even where he's from.
Smth smth cute about Dorcas being SUPER competitive with Marlene in everything at camp, smth smth, Barty meeting Evan Rosier at camp haha
anyway, Black Brother reunion!! does not go well, smth smth both camps realise about each other!!
Have to band together to defeat an enemy.
Since James and the others cant go to their camp, Regulus, Dorcas and Barty decide to stay to vanquish the threat of the Dark Lord only to discover that some of their own camp members are on the bad side (Luke Castellan's side)
smth smth, battle!! Regulus and Barty join the bad side while Dorcas stays.
Regulus discovers the weaknesses of the Dark Lord and dies while trying to destroy it.
Sirius and James who had been dating Regulus in secret, are both devastated. smth smth!!
final battle!! By this time, James and Lily have been dating, they're like young tho, and James has conflicting feelings about the battle cause he keeps imagining Regulus to be one of the enemy but he's yk dead.
Blahblah blah, Peter betrays them, James and Lily die, but they have a son who will go on to permanently destroy the threat forever and ever, the end everyone you love is dead!

more headcanons, please!!
More headcanons about what, Anon? ^^' Anyways, you needn't ask me with too much emphasis. This time, it's random headcanons (about the Marauder's Era/first war, mostly about the Blacks). You have to be more specific, love, if you want something different.
Bella was part of the Duelling Club at Hogwarts. She made captain in her 7th year, but she found that she enjoyed the title most of all. She hated the bureaucratic/organizational aspect of it.
She was both Prefect and Head Girl, but again mostly for the title. Even then, she disliked kids. She had to be reminded (playfully of course, but still) by Slughorn that she couldn't use magic as a disciplinary method on younger students. This led to her slapping a 1st year boy in the face once and Rodolphus having to cover for her.
Evan Rosier is four years older than Bella and was an exceptional wizard (which is true, in canon). He and Bella were close as children and he was an even bigger fanatic than she. Andromeda absolutely loathed him.
Cissy's sorting was the quickest, then Bella, then Dromeda.
Bella made a point of saying that Regulus was her favourite cousin. While she may have liked him the most, it was Sirius who she respected more and Evan to which she was closest.
She and Rodolphus were Hogwarts sweethearts.
She was also close with Rabastan, but they had a love/hate relationship as they both implicitly fought for Rod's attention.
The Slytherins of that era were very close with each other - an incredibly tight group of people not only from the highest pureblood elite, but also talented and bright. Not everyone could be part of it, even amongst Sacred 28 members.
Evan was a sort of "gang leader" when he was in school, and that title was passed on to Rod and Bella, then Lucius (and Rab, to a lesser extent, despite being older). Andromeda was indirectly part of it, but kept more to herself (I headcanon her as an introvert) and Cissy too, even though they were both very respected in school.
Bella's favourite subject was Charms, Dromeda's was Transfiguration and Cissy's was Herbology.
Bella and Cissy were opposites in the sense that Narcissa, like Druella, had an incredible green thumb: any and every magical plant/flower thrived in her care. Malfoy Manor's gardens during her time as mistress of the house were a sight to behold. Bella could not keep a flower alive if her life depended on it.
All three girls had top grades in Astronomy. Obviously.
The three were also very very close growing up.
They drifted apart in their adult years, with Bella dedicating more and more time to her training, Andromeda running away from home, and Narcissa's courtship with Lucius.
Out of the three, Narcissa was always the most individualistic.
Bella and Rodolphus's wedding was the event of the century. I mean it, it was the grandest, most elaborate, over-the-top, excessive thing. 500 people were in attendance at the reception, every pureblood worth more than two galleons and their mother was there.
It was talked about for the following decade.
Druella and Mrs Lestrange planned the whole thing for more than a year. It started off as polite exchanging of advice. It ended as a full-on war. The days leading up to it were so stressful for everyone involved that Cygnus locked himself in his study and started avoiding his wife and her wedding planners like the plague.
For the first time in his life, Cygnus was scared of his Druella, who, for her part, would accept nothing but the absolute best for her firstborn daughter's wedding.
Mrs Lestrange disliked Bella at once. This dislike turned into absolute hatred over the years. She was convinced (and kind of rightly so) that Bella had ruined her darling son's life.
The dark lord was in attendance too, of course. He found the whole thing excessive and only made a somewhat brief appearance. Bella was still delighted to have him there. At the time, she was still convinced that her feelings for him were profound admiration and a crush. There was sexual attraction, but she was definitely in love with Rodolphus. Wasn't she? She wasn't.
They spent their honeymoon in France and Italy. Mostly Italy (<3). It was a month long.
To Bellatrix's shock, Lucius was officially courting Narcissa when she got back. (When she had left, it hadn't been official yet).
Andromeda had also gotten up to funny business (as if Bella's mere absence from the country had emboldened her). That was when she fell pregnant with Nymphadora.
Two months later, she was gone.
It broke Bellatrix when her sister left her. Her favourite sibling, her partner in crime, her best friend. Oh, sure, the two had become different people over the years and were not as close as they had been as children, but it read to Bellatrix as the cruellest of betrayals.
Andromeda's justification (to herself) was that Bella had betrayed her first, by associating with Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters, by being more and more conservative as she grew up, by becoming harsher and crueller with age.
She felt both guilty and defiant about it. She was mad at her sister for putting her ideologies and political sentiments before her. If it was her choice to marry a Mudblood, then surely her sisters could make an exception for her sake.
Bellatrix would have preferred her sister married to a dog.
Especially since Rabastan had wanted to marry Andromeda (who didn't know how to feel about that during her Hogwarts years but who liked Rab less and less as a grown-up).
They were never officially engaged but it still read as a slight to Rab - how come his brother got to marry a Black and he didn't? It's not a good reason to marry someone but I won't pretend Rabastan is a good person. Or a particularly rational man.
My boy Rabastan is arrogant, jealous, and petty. And I love him just the way he is.
The last time Sirius saw his cousins (outside of the battlefield and Azkaban) was at Cissy's wedding.
Severus Snape was also in attendance as Lucius' guest and the two almost broke out in a fight in front of everyone.
Bella's wedding was grander, but it was a relatively smooth ordeal.
Lucius and Cissy's (or Cissa's, as he calls her) was full of Shenanigans. Everything that could go wrong, did. But in the end, the guests were (for the most part) none the wiser. I reckon it was more of a behind-the-scenes thing.
Until drunk Sirius grabbed Snape by the front of his robes, that is. They were 6th years at Hogwarts then, and Sirius was about to run away.
Bellatrix didn't know which one she disliked more, and was secretly hoping they killed each other. Still, she was livid at them for threatening to ruin her baby sister's perfect day. She cursed them both personally.
Bellatrix had been, for six whole years of her life, Voldemort's first and only apprentice. She had "graduated" in 1976, when she officially became one of the highest ranking Death Eaters. Her rise to power only continued after that.
In 1978, however, a young new student was suddenly taken under Voldemort's wing. She had disliked Snape from the second she met him, that upjumped half-blood, son of a nobody, who had become a favourite of the Dark Lord's with such speed.
Oh, of course, the other DEs looked down on him, of course, he had started off as nothing more than an errand boy. But he was the cleverest of the bunch and had friends in high places - Lucius Malfoy was seriously considering having him as his son's godfather - and within the year Voldemort had taken a liking to him.
I think LV found a different sort of "camaraderie" with Snape, for lack of a better term. They were more similar than he and Bella were, both in background and temperament. This angered Bella to death, but no one would listen to her when it came to Snape - not Voldemort, not her husband, not her sister, not Lucius.
Speaking of Lucius, he was never best friends with Bellatrix, but they were nothing like in the main series. They still respected each other (since Bella wasn't as out of control and Lucius hadn't yet shown himself as a complete weasel and a coward).

I read someone's post (I can't remember who, sorry for the shitty memory) about wanting stories about Marauders' children but not about Harry or Draco. Just Other Children. And I can't stop thinking about it because
What if they had lived? All of them?
I think Jilly is cute as a ship, but I don't think they would have lasted on the long run. Not as a couple. The war is hard on everyone and they can't pretend they are the same as before. They both agree to stay as friends because love is still there, just not romantic love more of a friendship.
James movew just a few streets down. After a year or so, Regulus moves with him. At first, everyone try to break them up, but Regulus shows once and again that he has changed, that he is good.
Harry loves Regulus with all his baby heart. Regulus insists he is good as an uncle, not wanting to take anyone's spot, but after three years Lily is the one to reassure him.
"Reg" she smiles with love "I know what you mean, but James and I have talked and we both know that Harry has had three parents for a while now. You're his papa. You're family"
Regulus cries for two hours straight after that.
Harry grows with a lot of cousins. The ones he sees the most are Remus and Sirius' children.
After the war, Remus takes a job on the government and doesn't stop until he gets a legislation passed abouth werewolves. After all his work, foster children would have an easier access to a new home. They adopt a three years old werewolf girl, bitten in one of the battles. She has a hard time, but Remus is there for every step.
In Sirius' 25th birthday, she runs to his bed when the sun isn't out yet.
"Daddy! We made breakfast!" she yelled excited.
Remus appears, a shy smile on his lips.
"We kind of burned the pancakes" he apologized.
Sirius just look fondly at him, love all over him as he hugs his daughter.
"Let's adopt another one, Rems" he asks.
They adopt a boy this time. Five years old and having tantrums who could scare Merlin himself.
Dorcas and Marlene had two girls and a boy. They never said who the donor was and no one could tell since the children look exactly like both girls.
The least expected is Barty's child. No one really saw him as a father, especially not after Evan's death. However, when Luna is born, Barty is named his godfather and his whole life changes because he can see himself having a future.
Following Remus and Sirius' example, he adopts. He may have changed, but he hasn't forgotten. He adopts a boy who lost his parents by Death Eaters as a way to remind himself everyday that he can do better. That he has to do better.
They live happy, like they could have only dreamed of. At least until August of '92 comes around.
Sirius didn't ever bother to knock, entering the house with familiarity.
"Did you get one too, Prongs?" he shouted, looking for his friend.
"Good morning to you too, dear brother" responds Regulus frowning.
Sirius just showed the letter, expecting it's explication enough.
"Oh, yeah. Jamie has his own letter".
As if he was called, James enters the kitchen with a big smile and a letters on his hand.
"What does yours say?"
Sirius opens it, preparing himself to read.
"Dear mister Black, I couldn't but notice the name of this year's students. I wrote to check if the boy listed as Lupin-Black has anything to do with you or mister Lupin. Signed, Minerva Mcgonagall"
"Mine's says the same! I mean, she asks if Harry is listed as my child or if it's a coincidence"
Regulus hides his smile. Only he will know the letter he had received with just a few lines written. "Mister Black, if I am not wrong, I may be retiring this year. I do not think I am strong enough for this children. Signed, Minerva Mcgonagall"

Padfoot Saves Sirius
Pairing - Wolfstar x daughter! Remus Lupin x Sirius Black, James Potter x Lily Evans.
Warnings - none!
Ophelia Lupin-Black was deep in a peaceful and quiet slumber. It was way past eight thirty in the morning and the girl was still asleep, not moving a muscle as she dreamt happily.
But of course, peace doesn't last long in the Lupin-Black household.
It's almost impossible to have a moment of stillness when you've got people like Remus, Sirius and Ophelia Lupin-Black.
The three most stubborn, mischievous, chaotic and humourous people living under the same roof. Yeah, not a good idea at times.
The door of Ophelia's bedroom opened slowly with a creak and in stepped Sirius Lupin-Black, the 'Black smirk' painted his lips as he tip-toed towards the bed.
"From what I think you're about to do," said Remus in a soft voice. "You probably don't value your life very much".
Sirius glanced at his husband who was leaning against the door frame, arms crossed over the maroon sweater and a disapproving look on his face.
"Oh come on! It'll be fun!" Sirius whined.
"You do know what happened the last time you woke her up like that don't you?"
The other stood silent as small clips of that horrendous day ram in his mind, reminding him of the tortures he had to go through.
"But I was Sirius' last time. Now I'll wake her up as Padfoot. It'll be fine," he shrugged it off and turned towards his sleeping daughter with a grin.
Looking at Remus, Sirius gave him one last wink before transforming into Padfoot and quite literally jumping on the bed four times like a hyper wild animal.
"Da," a low growl and groan was heard making him stop immediately as he cautiously looked at Ophelia.
"Morning love!" Remus chirped in and quickly went over to sit beside her, not wanting Sirius to face the inevitable wrath.
Ophelia gave him a sleepy smile, but then her face hardened as she turned to look at her Dad, her eyes narrowed under furrowed eyebrows.
Last time, Sirius hadn't transformed into Padfoot to wake her up. So this day, he thought he had some advantage as the girl loved his Animagus form.
So deciding to test his theory, Padfoot stepped closer and whined loudly like a wounded animal. He placed his hand on his paws and looked up at her with those big, innocent puppy dog eyes.
"Oh damn you and your bloody Animagus form," she swore and couldn't help herself from scratching Padfoot behind his ears.
His tail started wagging instantly and he pounced, paws on her shoulder as he tickled her face with licks.
"Alright, alright stop!" She shrieked with laughter and tried to push him away.
"Pa! Help me! He's ticking- it tickles!" Ophelia gasped out and dodged her playful father as best as she could
But instead of assisting, Remus joined forces with Sirius and started tickling her sides mercilessly.
"Hey!!" She shouted as her stomach ached and tears fell down on her cheeks from laughing so hard.
The pair stopped their malicious teasing and Sirius transformed back to his self. Both of them smiling at the uncountable happiness lighting Ophelia's face.
Small chuckles were still escaping her lips as she wiped the tears and clutched at her slightly aching abdomen. "That wasn't a fair fight".
"Life's never fair, darling," Sirius grinned and messed up her hair, earning him another disgruntled groan.
"Yeah yeah," she rolled her eyes and rested her head onto Remus' shoulder.
"Up you get now," He whispered and smiled as he tried smoothening her rumpled black locks. "Reg will be waiting".
At that her face immediately lit up and she grinned uncontrollably, "You should've reminded me!"
"You see that, Rem? See how her face is practically glowing? I see who's your favourite," Sirius huffed and pouted.
"Don't worry, Da. You're definitely in the top five," she smiled, failing to hide the obvious mischief behind the innocent look that grazed her face.
"I love you too," he grumbled but then rolled his eyes and chuckled as she hugged him tightly.
"You got away with trouble this time Da," Ophelia suddenly muttered. "But I promise I'll get you back for it soon enough," she smirked at him.
"I'll be waiting," Sirius grinned back and moved to sit to her right, his back leaning against the headboard.
"Oh sure you will. You'll be delighted for the upcoming surprise after knowing Uncle Reg and Pa will be helping me," she chuckled like a maniac before going to take a bath.
Sirius' head snapped over to his husband before you could even say mischief. "Moony? Is this true?"
All Remus could do was smirk and laugh as the other's eyes were wide open.
"What kind of outrageous betrayal is this?!" Sirius cried out dramatically. "My own husband and brother turning against me? This is ridiculous!"
"Be prepared, Da!" Ophelia's shout was heard from the bathroom. And despite not seeing her, the two could hear the grin spreading across her face.
"I'll plan a better one with James!" The man-child yelled back in response.
"Go on then! Team Ophelia has the alliance of Lily Evans!"
And that was the comeback that had left Sirius with no words to retort.

My Headcanon about the Rosier and Crouch families:
Druella Black (nee Rosier) was the daughter of Matthias Rosier and Wilhelmina Rosier (nee Travers). Druella also had a brother, Evander Rosier Sr, who went on to have two sons, Evander 'Evan' Jr and Felix Rosier, who were both sorted into Slytherin like their father.
Mattias Rosier was the younger brother of Vincent Rosier. Vincent went on to marry Viola Crabbe, who was Irma Crabbe's cousin. Vincent and Viola had three children, Cornelia "Nellie" Crouch (nee Rosier), Antonia "Ana" Rosier and Nicolas "Nic" Crabbe.
Bartemius Crouch Jr was born to Bartemius Crouch Sr, a Ravenclaw, and Cornelia "Nellie" Crouch (nee Rosier), a Slytherin. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, unlike the usual headcanon of the "Slytherin Skittles", however, because of his family's close relation to the Rosiers', Barty and Evan were somewhat friendly before starting at Hogwarts the same year, even if Evan became better friends with Regulus and Barty grew closer to Pandora and Emmeline. However, around 3rd year, Pandora & Regulus became closer, and by association, Barty, Regulus and Evan began hanging out more.

Homecoming
Marauders Era/ non-magical
Marauders x Reader, Army brother x reader
Warnings: Mentions of death, anxiety, let me know if I missed anything else!
Summery: Y/N loves her friends and her brothers with all her heart. But, when one of her brother, who is in the army, doesn't send her a letter home, its hard to enjoy her birthday.
You passed the common room, chewing on your already non-existent nails. The mail would be coming any second now. Any second Malcome, the mail deliverer for Gryffindor house, would be walking through that door to hand you two letters. One from Nigle at home and the other from Brent who was overseas fighting for your country.
Sirius and Remus watched you with uneasy faces. They knew how you got on mail day. You weren’t an openly expressive person, but once a week they saw your nerves just explode out of you. And if you didn’t get a letter that week… no one would see you for two days. No one knew where you went. You didn’t eat, they doubted you slept. But on the third day, you would walk into the great hall for food looking like you had gone to war yourself.
James walked down the stairs just as you ripped off your index finger’s nail. He winced for you when you just moved on to your ring finger without hesitation. He sat down besides Sirius and Remus and watched your pace.
“How long has she been…”
“Four hours.” Remus answered, no one taking their eyes off you.
“At least. She was already like this when we got here.” Sirius added. James frowned.
They all knew how important family was to you. And all you had left of the blood family was your two brothers. They practically raised you. Your mother had died in a car crash when you were five and your father in a war when you were seven.
You had been friends with James since you two were in diapers and when you all went to Hogwrats, the boarding school for the Elite, you met Remus, Sirius, Lily, and Peter. They all knew of your situation. You were raised like a military daughter by your father. He hadn;t meant to be so harsh when he was home and it never bothered you. But because of the way you were brought up, you never showed emotion or weakness, if you could help it. You were scarily physically fit and you had a tactical brian. (You were the only one both Sirius and Remus lost at chess to). When he died it was really hard. You had James and your brothers, but after the funeral, Brent had to leave again and Nigel was barely ever around because he worked so much. But you all made do with what you could.
The door opened and you stopped halfway on your partially ripped off nail as Lily Evans walked in. You tore the rest of the nail off and continued to pace. She frowned and sat down by the boys.
“She looks worse than normal.”
“She didn’t get a letter last week from Brent, remember?” She nodded.
“Right. I forgot. Should we-”
“No,” all three boys replied in unison. While Lily was your closest female friend, you were much closer to the four boys. Even Peter who was serving out a detention with Professor Flitwick, the geography teacher. She sighed and sat back into the couch and watched you with the rest of the boys. You had finished tearing apart your right hand and had started on your left when the door opened again. You paused and looked up. Black hair? Check. Brown eyes? Check. Tall and gangly? Check. Messenger bag? Check.
Malcolm had arrived with the mail.
Everyone dashed over to the man and he handed everything out, you waited in the back. Silently and what could have been mistaken as patients. The boys and Lily got they’re mail and walked back to the couch to wait for you. You always got your mail alone. You always insisted. You always made sure you got your mail alone.
You walked up to the messenger boy and he smiled.
“How are you doing, Y/N?”
“Alright, and you?” You looked in his back and back at him. He smiled gently and handed you a letter and a box.
“I’ve been fine. Happy early birthday, Y/N.” He handed you the objects and left. You watched him go and stared at the door even after it closed. You swallowed and went back to your friends.
“What did you get?” Lily asked with fake chipperness, earning glares from the boys. She tried too hard sometimes. She had the best intentions, but she didn’t understand that you had to be the first to speak. She couldn;t go out in search of a conversation. It was just how you functioned.
You didn;t answer and set the letter and box down. You looked at the neatly wrapped box. It was from Nigel, as expected. Moment of truth. You held your breath, and so did the boys, as you flipped the card over.
Nigel Y/L/N
You tensed at the name written. It wasn't from Brent. He never missed two weeks in a row. What had happened? Is he alright?
You swallowed and silently stood, picking up the box. You nodded to your friends and disappeared up the stairs, not being able to control your shaking much longer. You were scared. So so scared. You wouldn’t be able to sit through your brother’s funeral. If that's what happened. James had to take you away from your fathers, but what would happen if it was Brent lying in that coffin instead of your father this time?
Two weeks in a row. You couldn’t fathom it. You didn;t even care that it was your birthday week. You just didn’t care. You just wanted to know that he was alright.
You set the letter and the box down on your bed before grabbing your secret emergency bag and disappearing out the window and down the vines on the tower. You needed a minute. And by a minute you meant two days.
Two days passed and no one had seen you, as usual. On the third day, the boys were expecting you to walk in for breakfast, but you didn’t. The four of them exchanged glances. That had never happened before. It was always two days. No more, no less. Did they like it? No. Did they wish they could change it? Absolutely. But they could not. Three days in a row though? That had them even more worried.
The breakfast bell rang, singling it was time to go to their first class. Luckily they had they’re favorite class. Literature with Professor Mcgonagall. She was not only the head of their house, but she was the only person who sort of put up with their antics.
“Where do you think she is?” Remus asked James and Sirius. Peter and LIly were walking a bit ahead of the three. James and Sirius shook their heads.
“I don’t know. But it can’t be good. I snagged her some fruit and a muffin incase we see her, though,” Sirius said. He was the one always looking out for your physical health. Making sure you were eating enough and not studying too hard or working down at the coffee shop in town for too long. Remus and James made sure that you knew all of them were there for you. Peter was the annoying little brother who could get you to roll your eyes with amusement and Lily would often distract you with gossip that you had no interest in hearing.
“That's good. She always looks like she has lost twenty pounds when she comes back.” James and Sirius nodded in sad agreement.
The five of them entered the classroom to see you sitting at your usual spot with your normal ridgid back, though you looked more stiff than normal. Lily and Peter greeted you before taking their seats, though all they got was a silent head nod. James sat down on one side of you and Sirius took the other side. Remus sat in front of you besides Lily.
Sirius pulled out the food and sat it down beside you, wishing he had thought to grab some bacon before it had disappeared.
“Here,” he slid it over to you, but all you did was eye it before pulling your attention back to the front. “Y/N, you gotta eat.”
“Not hungry,” you grumbled out. He bit his tongue before he came back with a snarky comment. He was normally able to, but when you were like this, even the teachers walked on eggshells around you. Your temper was notorious around the school and you would most likely disappear for another few days.
“It's not much, Y/N/N. I really think you should-”
“Not. Hungary.” He studied you for a second more. Your cheek bones were sharper and your eyes duller. He could see all the bones in your hand and your collar bone looked as if it were about to break skin. Not to mention you were paler than a ghost.
“Then eat it for me?” You glanced at him and clenched your jaw. You two had a mini argument with your eyes, but you were too tired to continue fighting with him so you took the napkin and started nibbling on some of the grapes.
You hated to admit it, but you were hungry.
Mcgonagall saw you eating but let you. She was normally strict about that sort of thing, but you were always the exception. Especially if it had been a rough weekend. You went through the motions of the day. You always had a class with either Remus, Sirius, James or all three. Sometimes your classes had one of those three plus Peter and Lily. Mcgonagall was the only one you six had all together, though.
After classes you went to the great hall, ate one thing and left without a word. No one was too happy with your actions, but they didn’t want to push you further away by arguing with you about it. Hopefully you would be better in the morning.
You weren’t.
You showed up for breakfast, which was good. You ate an apple and a piece of bacon, but that was it. You couldn’t stomach anything other than that. Sirius tried to get you to eat something else. A bit more, a chocolate chip muffin or one of those mini cakes, but you begged him with your eyes to stop. He nodded and stopped attempting to get you to eat more.
The two of you normally knew what the other was thinking, which always freaked James and Remus out a bit. All it took was for you two to glance at each other sometimes and there would be some inside joke shared. You two were actually the reason charades were banned on game night. Not like you two didn't normally win anyhow when you were paired up.
Yet again, that day you went through the motions. They all watched you do it. The next day was your birthday. Your sixteenth. They had all planned a surprise party, just you six, but you wouldn’t want to participate. They knew that. How they wished your brother had had a chance to send a letter back. It was actually painful to see you like this…
The next day you woke up and immediately wanted to go back to sleep. But Lily made you get up and get dressed. The boys were waiting for you down stairs with soft smiles on their faces, which you appreciated. Normally they would be all over you and you would all laugh like maniacs. But you weren’t in the mood for laughing.
“Happy birthday, Y/N/N,” James said and kissed your hairline. A thing he had done since you were kids. You two were exactly like siblings. He was a Y/L/N and you were a Potter. A bit weird when you thought about it, but also not weird at all.
“Thanks, Jamie.” You said with a smile.Remus and Peter wished you a happy birthday and hug as well.
“Happy birthday,” Sirius said finally as you all headed out of the common room. He patted you awkwardly on the back which made you chuckle. You rested your head on his shoulder as you two walked, honestly about to fall back asleep.
“Thanks, Sirius.” You said sadly.
“He’s alright, Y/N. You know that.” You stayed silent. You really wish you did.
You ate a bit more at breakfast that day, thanks to Sirius insisting that you have a small breakfast cake. You could use the sugar anyhow. But, despite your friends' best efforts, you felt the worst today. You just wanted to curl up in your blanket and sleep for an entire eternity. Until the war was over and your brother could come home. Until summer when you would be able to see them both. You just wanted your family back. That was the one thing you wished for that you knew could never happen.
“Now, who can tell me what we learned from Hamlet?” Mcgongall asked from the front of the class. You weren’t paying attention. Normally, you and Lily would be rivaling each other, playfully, to answer the question, but you just didn’t have the energy or the care to answer today.
The door squeaked open from behind the class and everyone turned in their seats to see who it was. Everyone but you. You were rolling your quill up and down the parchment with nothing but dull boredom. After a few minutes Sirius nudged your side.
“Hm?” He nudged you again. “What?” You looked up at him, irritated, but then you caught something else. You looked past him and your whole body stopped.
There at the back of the class was Brent. He was in his uniform pants and a plain white t-shirt and had a box in his hand. He had that stupid half, crooked grin on his face as he stared you down.
Tears were in your eyes as you jumped up and ran to him. You leapt onto him and wrapped your legs around his waist like you did when you were a little girl.
He hugged you tightly as you buried your head into the crook of his neck. You sobbed into his shirt and squeezed him tightly.
The majority of your classmates were surprised by your reaction. They never saw you really show much emotion other than laughter. To see you actually leap onto someone like this and start to sobbing was something completely strange and forgin to them.
But you didn’t care. For once in your life you didn’t care that they saw a weaker side of you.
“I hate you so much. You're such a jerk.” You mumbled into his shoulder. He hugged you tighter and chuckled.
“I know. I’m sorry. I’m so so so sorry.” You sobbed again. And he looked at his old teacher, silently asking permission to leave with you. She rolled her eyes and made a shooing motion with her hands. He smiled gratefully and took you out of the room.
He took you down to the “Black Lake”, still carrying you like a child. You two got a few weird looks but neither of you really cared.
He set you down and you two sat across from each other. He wiped your face off.
“Hey, no more crying for me. Ok? I’m alright. See?” He held his arms out, making you chuckle with a hiccup.
“Yeah. Ok.” He frowned and set a hand on your knee.
“Hey. You gotta take care of yourself too. You look terrible. You actually get fed good food up here, and what do I get? Nasty surprise meat. I’d take advantage of that if I were you.” You nodded and hugged your knees.
“How’ve you been, though? Your letters aren’t always very detailed.”
“I’m alright. I met a pretty girl over in America when I was stationed over there last month.”
“And you didn’t tell me?” You gasped, faking offense.
“I told Nigel.”
“Rude.” He laughed and shoved your knee. You smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
“So why are you here? They wouldn’t let you out just for my birthday.”
“Actually I got stationed at the base close to home. I got the day pass.”
“So you have all day?” You asked excitedly.
“I do, you have class.”
“It wouldn’t be the first time I skipped. ALthough, the boys might be upset that I didn;t ask them to tag along.” He smirked, mischief glinting in his eye.
“Well perhaps, since it is your birthday and all, we can have a break from school? You and the boys? What do you say?” You beamed. “I’ve been wanting to meet who you have been talking about. I mean, I know James, but the other three?”
“You’ll love them!” You started to ramble on and on about them and he just smiled. He never saw you this animated about much before. Even as a little girl you would hide your emotions a bit more than any other kid your age would. Especially after losing your mother. You were too little to really understand what was happening. You did understand, though, that a person you trusted and cared for was never coming back. That had broken you a bit. It only got worse with age. And then when money became an issue when your father died and Nigel started to work non-stop and then Brent joined the army, it was just so much for someone so young.
The bell rang and you smiled.
“Meet us at the football in ten minutes.” You ran off quickly. He rolled his eyes and shoved the present he had gotten you in the pocket of his uniform. He remembered a bit of stuff in your letters about the group of friends you had found. He hadn;t seen you since you had joined the school-what is that now?- four years ago, maybe? He nearly didn’t recognize you when he walked into the room.
You had gotten taller, definitely, your hair was a bit (Darker/Lighter) and you looked almost exactly like dad, but more feminie. He couldn;t have helped but get a bit sad at the sight of you, though. He had missed so much of your life. So many Christmases, Birthdays, Halloweens. He missed them all. But at least you were able to get your school supplies and your uniform. Eat a proper meal, when you would let yourself
He walked down to the football stadium on campus but stopped by a payphone to give Nigel a ring. He hadn;t seen him yet, and although he would disapprove of you and your friends skipping the rest of your classes, he was almost positive that he would come meet you and spend your birthday with them.
You caught them as they were walking out of the classroom. They smiled at your smile and jogged over to you. Sirius slung an arm around your shoulder.
“See. I told you he was alright.”
“And thank god you were right. Anyhow! He wants to spend the day with me and since he hasn;t met any of you yet, would you all like to come along?” “Ditch classes?” Lily asked disapprovingly. You gave her puppy dog eyes. She sighed in defeat. “I will not tag along, but I will not stop you nor will I rat you out.” YOU smiled, knowing that was the best you would get from her. You turned to the other boys.
“Count me in! I haven’t seen Brent in ages.” James said happily.
“I’m in too!” Sirius laughed. “Getting out of class is getting out of class!” he laughed. The three stared at Remus and Peter.
“I just got out of detention,” Peter squeaked. “I don;t want to go back to helping Mrs.Norris de-ratify the dungeons!” You gave a pout, but understood. Then you turned all your attention on Remus. He opened his mouth about to decline the offer, but you mouthed a silent “please” to him and he gave up.
“I suppose one day of skipped classes.” You grinned, wide.
“YES!” You yelled and pulled the three after you. “You two are going to love Brent! He's been dying to meet you!” They all laughed, glad to see you back to your usual self.
You took them down to the Football field where you saw two boys talking leisurely. You smiled and ran faster.
“Nigel!?” The second boy looked up and smiled.
“Speak of the devil.”
“What are you doing here?”
“Sargent Slacker was telling me about your plan to skip school and drag your poor friends plus James-”
“Hey!”
“-along for the ride.”
“They willingly came, there was no dragging. Oh! Neither of you have met Remus or Sirius yet!” You shoved them in front of you, Sirius laughing and Remus stumbling a bit. “Sirius, Remus, these are my older brothers, Nigel and Brett.” You gestured to the two. “Nigle Brett, this is Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.”
“I’m James!”
“We know!” All five of you called in unison.
“Nice to meet you, Remus, Sirius,” your brothers said and shook their hands. Nigel ruffled James’ hair as you all started to walk down towards town. It wasn’t far from school and was a nice quaint area with lots of places to hang out. None of the people that roamed or shopped there would rat you out to the teachers for ditching. Some had already tried to tattle on the kids early on in the school’s years but stopped after a few years realizing that it wasn’t going to do anything. And, honestly, it didn’t happen so much anymore.
You were talking with Brent and Sirius upfront while Remus and James were in the back with Nigel.
“So, what's been happening at school? How’s Mcgonagall?”
“Still teaching the same courses as when you were here.” You answered with a smirk feeling much more like yourself. Four years. It had been four years since you last saw your brother and now he was home for a little while. You laughed the whole way down to the coffee shop. Brent and Nigel slowly getting to know Remus and Sirius.
When you finally got to the coffee shop you and Sirius went to find a seat while everyone else went to get the order in. You got the same thing everytime and Sirius had given Remus his order quickly and a few coins to get it.
“So, having a good birthday I take it?” Sirius asked. You laughed and nodded, looking over at your brother who was messing up James’ hair.
“It may sound selfish, but yeah. I really am.”
“Why would that sound selfish?” You looked at your friend with a small smile.
“Well, to me, at least, it sounds like I don’t appreciate you guys. You have to deal with all my shit all the time and it's so not fair. I’m sorry, really I-”
“Hey. No. Don't be sorry. If we minded putting up with your shit every now and then we wouldn’t stick around you at all. Don’t ever be sorry though, alright? I couldn’t imagine Reg going off to war and leaving me stuck here, wondering if he’s alright or not. I’d completely lose it. You can at least function.”
“Barely,” you scoffed. Sirius chuckled.
“Barely is still functioning.” You looked down at your lap, still slightly ashamed for the way you had been acting. Sirius grabbed your hand and squeezed it. You looked up at him. He smiled and you smiled back. He opened his mouth to say something when Brent came back with a tray of drink and food. He slid in besides you, handing you your (Favorite over the top sugary drink) and eyeing Sirius, though you didn’t notice. Nigel, James, and Remus appeared a a second later with the rest of the stuff and started to distribute the food.
Back in the line a few moments earlier:
Brent ruffled James’ hair playfully and James laughed.
“So how’s she been doing, really?” He asked James as they made their way closer to the counter. “She tells me my letters are vague but that girl knows how to skirt around a question.” James chuckled and nodded.
“She sure does. When your letter comes in on time she’s normally pretty alright. Of course, she always gets a little tense around that time but when they’re late,” James shook his head, not knowing how to say it, but Brent got the picture. He glanced over and saw you and Sirius holding hands and narrowed his eyes.
“Ok, and what's his deal?” James looked over and saw you and Sirius.
“What? Sirius? What do you mean?” James asked, trying to play it cool, but getting very worried. He was Sirius’ best friend. Of course he knew of a few extra details about his personal life. One of those extra details was a crush that he had been nursing for a good two years. James noticed it first, being like a third brother to you. He asked Sirius about it and he denied it. But then about a year ago, Brent’s letter had gotten lost in the mail and didn’t show up for about a month. You had gone into such a frenzied state that you couldn’t move. You had scared the crap out of Sirius and that was when he realized that his feelings had altered towards you. James always told Sirius to go for it, but you had lost so much that Sirius didn’t want to jeopardize anything.
“Yeah. Why’s he holding her hand? And why’s he been looking at her like that since he came to the field? Don’t tell me that-”
“Brent. We are in our fifth year now. You do remember what hormones are, right?”
“That is exactly what I’m afraid of. That they’re just hormones.”
“I really don’t think that's what it is.”
“So he does?”
“Well, yes, but-” Brent grabbed a tray before James could say anything else and marched over to the table. James watched, horrified. What had he just unleashed?
You were all laughing at stupid stories from childhoods and school. Everything was right. For you, at least. Brent couldn’t get it out of his mind that someone close to you had a crush on you and you were, seemingly, completely oblivious.
He had missed four years. Four whole years and now some teenage boy wanted to suck your face. That did not sit right with him. Especially because he saw himself in the boy that had been holding your hand a few moments ago. He was and remained to be a player. He knew one when he saw one. It was true, he had found a girl in America, a real nice one, too. And she made him want to settle a bit, not go sucking face with every girl in every country he went to. But it had taken him twenty four years to find that. You all were still young. And he saw how heavily you relied on your friends. Scarily enough, how much you relied on this one.
“Brent?” He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at you. “Are you ok? You zoned out for a minute.” He smiled and ruffled your hair roughly.
“I’m all good, kid. How’s sixteen feel?”
“Pretty good,” you laughed and shoved him off of you. “Though, havn’t gotten to try it out much.”
“Well, you’ll have a whole year to try it out.” You all left the coffee shop and started to roam the streets. You and the boys all wanted to go into the sweets shop and ran in, but Brent stopped Sirius and held him back. “I want to have a talk with you.” He had placed a firm hand on Sirius’ shoulder, not letting him move. Sirius swallowed but obeyed.
They started to walk through town in silence and Sirius kept looking over his shoulder at the sweets shop. He wasn’t the biggest fan of candies. More of a cake and pastry type, but the candies were your favorite so he always made sure to go in with you.
“So.” Brent said, stopping by the fountain. “How old are you, Sirius?”
“Seventeen, sir.” Sirius was never one to use “Sir” or “Ma’am”, unless it was in a mocking manner, this, though, was a situation that he knew he needed it in. He might be reckless, but he was also a gentleman and knew when to use what.
“And you know my sister is sixteen.”
“As of today. We had this party planned for her later, if you’d like to come. And Nigel. I bet she’d like that.”
“I bet she would, family and friends mean everything to her.”
“Yeah, they do.”
“And if something happens to the people she cares about, she doesn’t take it lightly.”
“Completely right,” Sirius said uneasily, not knowing how exactly to reply.
“So what are your intentions with my sister, exactly?”
“I just want to be there for her. She’s done the exact same thing for me.”
“So you're just repaying her? Toss her out when your debt is paid in full?”
“What?” Sirius asked, alarmed. “No! No! Not at all!”
“Then what? What more do you want from her? She may not seem it but she’s openly trusting. Naive at times even. People could take advantage of that.”
“Yes, they could. I hope you don’t mean-”
“That you would? That's exactly what I mean. I may have been gone for four years, but I’m not blind. I see the way you look at her, she may not, but I do. And if you ever think about hurting her in anyway-”
“I promise, that's the last thing I ever want to do. She’s like family to me. I wouldn’t ever dream of hurting her one bit. I owe her so much and she’s just… the best.”
“Damn right she is. I’m warning you though. I know your type. And my little sister will not be hurt, understood?” He didn’t give Sirius a chance to reply before walking away, leaving him by the fountain not knowing what to do.
Sirius had felt a burning hole in his chest for two years. He hadn’t realized it at first but now that he knew about it he knew he wouldn;t be able to get rid of it. The threats your brother, although valid, had just thrown his way scared Sirius half to death. He was twice his size in height and muscle mass but more than that, he spoke the truth. The only thing that had kept Sirius from not saying anything to you before about how he felt was all those fears. He didn’t want to hurt you. He wanted to be there for you. And if that was only through friendship-
He sighed and kicked the ground, shoving his hands in his pockets and touching a box in his leather jacket he had gotten for you for your birthday. Lily and Remus and James had helped him pick it out for you. He was going to tell you how he felt tonight and give you your gift but all those fears were resurfacing now and he knew he wouldn’t be able to.
“Sirius!” You shouted. He looked up and saw you running at him with a large bag in your hands. “Sirius come on we were- hey, what's wrong?”
“Huh? Nothing. Why?”
“You don’t look good. Did you get enough sleep last night? Did you eat enough? Are you not feeling alright?” He chuckled and brushed off your concerns.
“I’m fine. I’m fine. Why are you worried about me? Its your day.”
“Well, yeah, but the only reason I like my birthday is because I get to hang around you guys. And now my brothers are here and its even more perfect! Are you sure you’re alright? We can go back up to the school if-”
“What? No! Come on, James and Remus will be looking for us.” You pursered your lips but nodded and broke out into a smile before dragging him down the street towards the candy shop’s entrance where everyone was waiting. You spent a bit more time around town before deciding to head back up to the school for dinner. Your brothers, unbeknownst to you, were coming back later for the party you didn;t know was happening and you wouldn’t let Brent go when he said that he ought to be on his way.
You James, Sirius, and Remus headed back up to the school alone. You and Remus up front examining all the goodies you had gotten from town and James and Sirius in the back.
“James, can I ask you something?” SIrius asked, watching you and Remus a good ten feet ahead of you.
“Of course! What's up?”
“Should I really tell Y/N tonight? I mean, it would take away from her birthday and her brother and-”
“Woah woah woah, what did Brent say to you?”
“What?”
“Brent, he was the one who put this in your head, right? Listen, I love the guy to death, but he’s overly protective of her.”
“That's funny coming from you.”
“Yeah, but I’ve watched you with her, Sirius. It's different. I know you won’t do anything stupid. You care too much about her. We all do.”
“Right but what if-well, what is going to happen if she doesn’t feel the same?”
“She will. Trust me.”
“Or what if something happens. She can’t lose another person, James. She can’t, this entire plan is just stupid. I’m not going to do anything tonight. I’m not going to tell her.”
“Until when?”
“Ever! I’m never going to tell her.”
“What! Sirius, you’ve got to be joking!”
“No, I’m not. The only way I can ensure she won't get hurt is if I stay close as friends. There's no danger there.”
“Yes there is! Come on, Sirius, mate, please just tell her tonight! You aren;t going to-”
“Come on slow polks!” You yelled over your shoulder, smiling and waving. “Your supposed to be the athletic ones.” Sirius laughed.
“ Wanna race then?”
“You’re on, Black!” You took off towards the school and Sirius ran after you before James could say anything else. Remus and James then walked slowly together after you two.
“What was that about?” Remus asked. James shook his head watching you two run.
“He’s not going to say anything.”
“WHAT!?”
“Brent got into his head and brought back all that shit we spent years getting out.”
“You have got to be joking!”
“I wish I was, Rem, I really wish I was.”
Your brothers were enough to keep you distracted while the boys set up the grounds for your party. Sirius remained set on the fact that he wasn’t going to tell you, despite what Remus and James tried to tell him. They spent the last four hours trying to convince him but nothing was getting through to him.
The sun had set and the lights were on as everyone waited for you to show up with your brothers. They had taken you out all day. Shopping and Milkshake hopping and just touring town.
You and your brothers appeared over the hill a little less than ten minutes after everything was all set up for the party. Your brothers were in the same clothes but they had forced you to change into clean jeans and a maroon top with embroidered flowers along the neckline. Your hair was down but the front pieces were pulled back and you wore a pair of converse sneakers, the cleanest pair you owned(which isn't saying much since there were mud splotches all over them).
SIrius smiled as you came speeding down the hill slightly ahead of your brothers. You beamed and tackled the four boys in a hug. Peter had shown up to help decorate along with Lily.
“I can’t believe you all did this!”
“How’d you know?” Sirius smirked and you rolled your eyes pointing up to the Happy Birthday Y/N  sign above your head. The sign he had created himself. “Oh, and here I thought I gave it away.” you pushed him jokingly and laughed. He smiled, happy to see how thrilled your were.
Your brothers finally made it down the hill and the festivities began. Drinking and eating and laughing filled the air along with the bitter chill of night and early morning.
By the end of the night you were sitting on the edge of the dock a few yards away from the party, dipping your feet into the lake. Sirius came up behind you and sat down. You smiled and leaned your head up against his shoulder, closing your eyes and breathing in his leather Jacket. He kissed your hair and leaned his head against yours.
“Thank you,” you said after a minute. He looked at you and knitted his eyebrows.
“For what?” you smiled and looked back at the party.
“For this. For today. For everything.” You looked back up at him with huge eyes. “You really are amazing, Sirius.” He smiled and slid his jacket off, putting it around your shoulders.
“I’m only amazing to those who deserve it. And you deserve it and so much more.” You grinned and stared at him. “What?”
Your smile dimmed a minute as you looked back out at the lake.
“Nothing.”
“Hey, don’t do that. What’s wrong?” You sighed and leaned back onto your elbows.
“It's really nothing, Sirius. Just forget it.”
“No, this is your day. You tell me what you want and I’ll get it for you.” You rolled your eyes and chuckled.
“Knock it off. Your such a dork.”
“I’m serious,” you opened your mouth to make a smart comment but he kept talking. “You want the stars? I’ll get you the stars. You want the moon? Its yours. You want the biggest diamond in the world? Consider it done. JUst tell me and I’ll get it for you.”
You stared at him and took a large chug of your liquid courage. You licked the rest of the alcohol from your lips and looked at him straight past his eyes and into his soul, like you tended to do.
“You.”
“Wh-what?”
“You. I want you, Sirius.” He swallowed.
“You have me, Y/N/N.” You shook your head and slid up so you were on your knees.
“No. I don’t. I want all of you Sirius. I want to be yours and I want you to be mine. I can’t say that for once in my life I want to be selfish, because I always am. But, I’m ready to just take this time. I’m tired of waiting around. I. Want. You.”
“Wouldn’t you prefer the gift I got you?” You clenched your jaw and stared at him even more intensely.
“Take it back.” You growled. He swallowed.
His lack of response or interest broke you. You sighed and sat back on your heels, brushing the hair that had stuck to your face away. You shook your head and stood.
“Forget it.” You started to walk away from him, back to the party. He knew once you stepped off that dock you'd be out of his reach forever.
Unlike you, Sirius was never selfish, especially when it came to your well being. And just this once, he wanted to be. Just this once he needed to be.
“Y/N!” he called and ran to you, but you kept going. It pissed him off that you didn’t listen to him. He clenched his jaw and grabbed you by the waist, making you squeal as he carried you back to the end of the dock. He set you on your feet and held you in place.
“Sirius-”
“Listen. I love you, Y/N. I have loved you since the day I met you. But, I don’t want to hurt you. I refuse to be the reason you're hurt or the reason that you're crying. I can’t stand to see you sad and I want to be able to protect you from everything in this world, though I know you won’t let me. I’m terrified, but tonight, I don’t want to be. I just… Y/N, I-” you grabbed his face and brought him down to your lips as you rose to your toes. He eagerly kissed you back. Pulling you closer to him and deepening the kiss. You tasted like alcohol and wishes and light. Everything that you stood for and everything he loved about you. And, just like he thought, he was addicted.
When you two pulled away you both knew you were screwed. That there was no going back after that.
“Sirius,” you said hoarsely, but he just shook his head and pressed his lips to yours again.
“No.”
“You didn’t even know what I was going to say.”
“I don’t care.” he pressed his lips to yours again and you smiled into it as you wrapped your arms around his neck and he lifted you off the ground so you could wrap your legs around his waist. Happy birthday to you.
Brent looked down from the party, crushing the cup in his hand as he watched you make out with the black haired boy. He was grinding his teeth as he watched you kiss him back. James came up beside him with a grin on his face along with Nigel.
“Woah, Seems like little Y/N/N is all grown up.”
“You knew about this?” Brent asked angrily, turning to his brother abruptly.
“Of course, those two have been making eyes at each other since, what did you say James, 3rd year?”  James nodded and took a sip of his drink. “Glad the guy finally had the guts to do it.” Brent turned back to the scene to see the two of you running up the hill, hand in hand laughing, you in his jacket. He clenched his teeth but Nigel just knocked his shoulder.
“What?”
“She’s a big girl, Brent. Trust her. She’s not that little girl you left behind when you went to the war four years ago.” He turned back to you two and sighed. He knew you weren’t, but he couldn’t help but see you that way. He loved you so much, and to suddenly be back with you all grown up…
“Brent! Nigel!” You beamed and ran up to them. “You guys are the best. Brent hugged you tight and ruffled your hair.
“Happy birthday kiddo.” You frowned up at him.
“You aren’t leaving are you?” He smiled sadly.
“Afraid so. I have to be headed back. But I’ll write, I promise, ok, kiddo?” You smiled sadly and nodded, hugging him tightly again.
“Be safe,” you mumbled into him. He smiled and kissed your head.
“For you, always.” He patted James on the back and looked at Sirius.
He held out his hand which Sirius took nervously. Brent took a breath and calmed himself down.
“It was good meeting you, Sirius.”
“You as well.” He looked over at you and back at Siirus.
“Take care of her.” He smiled and looked at you, who raised an eyebrow.
“Always,” you rolled your eyes at him and went to start talking to Nigel, as you three walked away.
“I'm proud of you,” James said, patting him on the back as Sirius finally breathed.
“Is he always that terrifying?” James laughed and pulled Sirius back into the party and despite him being terrified of Brent, all he could do was smile because he knew that as long as you and him were together, everything was just fine.
And from that day on everything was. Even the days when Brent didn’t write, he helped make them slightly easier. When he had a nightmare you were there for him. And life moved on perfectly and happily for the two of you.
Merry Christmas and a happy early New Year!
I hope you guys enjoyed this! I'm sorry I've been MIA for so long, life is absolutely disgustingly hectic.
As always please let me know what you think and anything you all want to read about!
Hopefully, with luck I'll be posting more in the New Year!

@wolfstarmicrofic Day Seven: imaginary
This is closer to 50 than 2000 so... Yes. Enjoy. :)
Sirius never really gave much thought to his future. It was pretty cut and dry: he was the eldest son of a powerful, old Pureblood family. He'd marry a daughter of one of his parents' political allies, have several sons, and become Lord Black. It wasn't complicated. There was no diverting from the plan.
His cousins (Narcissa) would cajole him into playing pretend. Narcissa was fond of looking through magazines and getting the house elves to set up elaborate tea parties-turned-weddings. Sirius, whose own parents were cousins, was less than thrilled at being cast as Narcissa's "groom", but she assured him she had zero interest in his grumpy face.
He didn't think about his future, because there was no point. Everything was certain.
Until that ruddy hat called, "GRYFFINDOR!" and upended Sirius's entire world. He'd seen the abject horror and shock on the faces of his cousins at the Slytherin table, how Bellatrix's changed to vicious glee, Andromeda's to concern, and Narcissa's to something resembling sadness. Three syllables—the wrong syllables—changed everything.
The Family maintained an air of hesitant, begrudging acceptance for a whole year, but when Regulus went to Slytherin, Sirius knew things would never be the same. He mourned his loss, grieved the absence of things he thought he'd needed to survive, the love he thought he'd had from his parents.
He had to give thought to his future now, with McGonagall looking at him in her piercing, unsettling way, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, like Padfoot's fur ruffles when he's unsettled. Maybe he can live as a dog... That would be easier, for sure.
"Mr Black, I get the distinct impression that I've lost you. Sirius? Founders help me..."
Sirius ignores her mutterings, absolutely lost in his own head. Someone would probably take him. James, for sure, or Remus...
Remus.
Being James's dog would mean a lot of running, but Remus would let him sleep in and have a cuddle and they'd run around on the full moon together and have lazy Sundays in front of the fire. James wouldn't ever let his dog eat cakes or bacon, but Sirius reckons he could win Remus over with a bit of begging.
Yeah, living as a dog seems like the best choice for him. The world's going to shit, and it's not like his name carries much weight now that he's been disowned.
"Mr Black!"
Sirius blinks and stares at her, wide-eyed and startled. "Professor McGonagall!" he parrots on instinct and immediately regrets his decision, because her nostrils do that flaring thing and he's sure that if she were a cat right now, her tail would be twitching a warning.
Remus keeps him company during the detention he has to serve for his sass. He's not very helpful, the lazy sod, leaning against the wall popping chocolate bon bons in his mouth while Sirius works like a dog cleaning the floors without magic. "I just don' understan'," Remus says around a mouthful of candy, "Why didn't you just answer her question, Pads?"
Sirius scowls at the flagstones and sighs dramatically. "It's a stupid question! I'm 16, I don't know what I want to do when I leave here. It's a big question, isn't it, and like... Who even knows? Okay-" Sirius says, cutting Remus's no-doubt snide remark short, "Prongs is going to play for the Magpies and marry Lily Evans but we both know only one of those things is even a little bit possible, so he's just as bad off as I am!"
Remus suddenly crouches down in front of him, and the smell of the chocolate and the faint scent of Moony makes Sirius a little dizzy. "Just...use your imagination, Padfoot. What do you want to be, and so help me God, if you say a 'dog'..."
Sirius isn't scared of this "God" Remus is always on about, but he bites back "dog" nonetheless. "...dunno, really. Not Quidditch. Nothing with potions. Beach bum?"
Remus laughs and tosses a bonbon at him, which he cleverly catches in his mouth with a little woof. "Yeah, sure, you and me, Pads. We'll be beach bums together until we're old and toothless."
The idea of living with his best friend (and secret, desperate crush) on the beach in a tiny shack is far more appealing than any other plan Sirius has had made for his life, and even though he knows it's a ridiculous thing and definitely not going to happen, he tucks that image deep inside his heart to remember on a rainy day.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 were a half-blood family of British, Scottish, Greek and Italian origin. Their family home was located in Castle Combe where BENEDICT and ADELAIDE moved after their eldest son LYSANDER was born. The cottage was occupied by the family up until Benedict's death in 1931, the house stood empty for a couple of years then it was passed on to FLORA HEXLEY-MERCURY a second child of Lysander and ETHEL HEXLEY.
BENEDICT was a half-blood wizard, a Ravenclaw alumni who went on to become a magizoologist specialising in Pixies and Doxies. Due to the nature of his job he would often find himself at the St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries where he would eventually met his future wife Adelaide who was a talented trainee healer at Dai Llewellyn Ward of Serious Bites. After getting treated by her a couple of times and a couple more of faked injuries he finally mustered enough courage to ask her on a date and to his great surprise she agreed. It took less than a year for them to get engaged and then married.
ADELAIDE'S parents weren't very pleased when their daughter announced that she wish to marry not only a half-blood but also a man with no status or much money. The Fawleys might not have had such a fortune or influence as the Black or Malfoy families but that only strengthened their desire to find suitable matches for their daughters. Through all of her struggles in convincing the family to let her marry Benedict Adelaide could always count on her sister EVELYN. She herself recently married into the Rosewood family and it was mainly her who finally convinced the Fawleys that Benedict was a man worthy of Adelaide. The couple was married in a small ceremony and remained in London until their son first birthday. Soon they realised that they both rather raise their kid in a countryside away from the big town and thus soon enough the Mercury family of three moved into a small cottage at Castle Combe.
LYSANDER'S mathamorphmagus abilities didn't show until he was almost two years old and it nearly gave his parents a heart attack right from the start. The first noted instance of Lys discovering his shapeshifting was shortly after the family moved to their new house in the countryside. Lysander spent hours exploring the gardens surrounding the cottage and when he came back his skin was purple. When Adele saw him she immediately took him to the nearest wizarding hospital as she made an assumption that the skin color was caused by Lysander eating a Venomous Tentacula. Her theory was debunked when, in the middle of the visit, his skin color turned back to normal and his hair started to change colors instead. The Mercuries were relieved that it wasn't caused by a deadly plant, but their relief didn't last long with Lysander discovering more and more of his newfound abilities and getting a partner in crime.
EVANDER was three years younger than Lysander but as soon as he learned how to walk his older brother took him under his wing. Though he did grow up a little jealous of his brother abilities he would get over it eventually, especially after discovering his own speciality that turned out to be Quidditch. Though Lysander would never admit it, especially after Evan got sorted into Gryffindor and joined the house team, but the younger Mercury brother was undoubtedly better at playing the game.
I might not participate in the lineage challenge per se but it seemed like a good opportunity to share some background for one of my favourite families. Ocs mentioned belong to @the-al-chemist and @usernoneexistent.

Harry Potter and the Parselmouth Three! (and if I can be greedy, Blackborne)
Of course you can be greedy! I'll give you both — a little snippet and a little description for them.
Harry Potter and the Parselmouth Three: This one is probably my most far-reaching one. Usually changes in canon happen in like... fourth year, fifth year, or the summer before third year. Here? Second year.
Padma and Parvati Patil are both Parselmouths and, after Harry is outed as one at the dueling club in 2nd year, they decide... "Well... he needs help. So let's help him". Lavender joins in and the three of them work to help Harry as the school (and, unfortunately, even Ron and Hermione) reel from the revelation that Harry is a Parselmouth.
The Parselmouth Three snippet
They had frog-marched him out into an isolated corner of the castle. Harry had felt his heart try to beat itself out of his chest. It didn't help, Harry thought, that Lavender Brown had a bemused smirk on her face. Nor that the Patil sisters were giving each other a look that Harry couldn't quite recognize.
"What are you — " Harry started.
"I want to see if you can recognize this, Harry." Padma Patil hissed.
She hissed.
She hissed.
Harry felt his jaw drop, his eyes bulge from their sockets, and his heart froze in his chest. The Patil sisters giggled and Lavender beamed at his dumbfounded face.
"You... you're..." Harry began to stammer.
"She's not the only one," Parvati interrupted with a lilting hiss, "and your accent is terrible, Harry."
"You're Parselmouths." Harry scarcely recognized his own voice.
"The three of us," Padma gestured between her sister, herself, and Harry, "are probably the only ones in the school."
"Why didn't you tell anyone you were a Parselmouth?" Parvati giggled with glee and grabbed Harry's arm, beaming widely. "I love my sister, but there's only so many conversations you can have with her!"
"I didn't know!" Harry interrupted nervously. "I mean, there was that incident with the snake when I was eleven, but I didn't think it was this! I thought it was just me being frea — "
He didn't miss the flicker of concern on their faces.
"Ernie's right, isn't he?" Lavender spoke and her voice was soft like a babbling brook. "Your Muggle relatives don't treat you well, do they?"
Harry gave a derisive snort. "If I died, they'd celebrate. And if the whole school is going to do this..."
Lavender beamed at him and draped her arms over his shoulders.
"Then we'll just have to change their minds, won't we?"
"We?" His voice was hoarse.
"Us Parselmouths have to stick together, silly." Parvati laughed as she poked his shoulder. "Pads can help with the schoolwork, and Lav and I can help with your reputation."
"You... want to help me?" His voice was impossibly small.
"Mhm!" Lavender giggled. "And you're not getting rid of us that easy, Harry. So deal with it."
"I know my sister, Harry." Padma had a large, smug smirk on her face. "Better just go with the flow here."
Blackborne: This is my "Sirius Black has a son" fanfic. And I actually gave another small snippet to @artemisia-black on her blog! But Leonis Altair Black grew up with his first cousin/godmother/guardian Andromeda, her husband Ted, and their daughter Nymphadora. Sirius is in Azkaban. Leonis' mother, Cassandra Adler, was killed by Evan Rosier in 1981 (who was, subsequently, killed by Mad-Eye Moody). There's a few changes in how the House of Black and the Tonks interact — Arcturus and the rest of the House have to be more 'respectful' of Andromeda as she is, effectively, the keeper of the only Heir to the House of Black.
And Arcturus will be damned if he lets a Malfoy inherit everything...
Blackborne snippet
The House of Black was many things to many people and had been for centuries. It prided itself as the royalty of the wizarding world. It was cursed as a Dark house. A house of art and culture and pushing the boundaries of magic. It was a house from which all others were related and it was of the richest in the British Isles. Its sons and daughters had earned renown throughout the annals of history — enchanters, sorcerers, arithmancers, and the occasional honest politician. It was the House, the symbol of British wizardry.
And the last war had decimated it.
Its children were either dead or locked up in the fearsome wizard prison of Azkaban or in the chains of marriages to intolerable men. It was a family of old and tired and broken members, old men and women doddering in the vanity of ages past. Had it not been for Leonis, the last and youngest star in the constellation, the Blacks would be on the verge of extinction.
The aging patriarch for the House of Black, Arcturus Black III, stood proudly in the Tonks family kitchen, scowling at the toaster that was smugly mocking him on the countertop. There were Muggle appliances all over the house, ticking and tocking and whirring, and he felt exceedingly out of place. Arcturus was a tall and proud looking man with a mane of white hair and piercing violet-grey eyes. His robes were an immaculate swirl of slate grey and teal, vivid golden stars whirling about on the fabric. This was a man who grew up in the lap of luxury and knew it, who prided himself on his breeding and his lineage.
"You did get the boy, did you not Nymphadora?" Arcturus sneered as the pink-haired girl walked back into the kitchen, gripping his black walking stick tightly in a withered, shaking right hand. "I would like to get to the shops early before the rabble arrive and they turn the alley into a mass of people."
"I got him, yes grandfather." Tonks rolled her eyes at her mother, who was doing her best to hide the slight quirk of her lips. "He's down in a mo'. And stop using that name, I'm Tonks."
"Your mother gave you a serviceable name, Nymphadora," Arcturus drawled and watched as the formerly runaway daughter of his blood hid a smirk, "and a good name. A family name."
Tonks scowled.
"I still do not understand, Andromeda," Arcturus gestured with his thick ebony walking stick at the toaster, a sneer crossing his lips and his nose wrinkling, "why you insist on using such... such jejune Muggle appliances in this home. A simple warming charm, or even charming the dishes to cook the food while you wait."
"Because, grandfather, it is my Muggle-born husband's home." Andromeda smiled a thin, wan smile. Ted Tonks had always described his wife as such — if Helen of Troy had the beauty that launched a thousand ships, Andromeda Black could launch a million. And Ted Tonks loved to remind his wife of it every day when he woke, in soft and gentle murmurs. "And my husband wanted to have Muggle items in the home we shared. And per the agreement we made ten years ago, Leo would grow up in a house that had both magical and Muggle items."
"Leonis would have grown up loved in my home." Arcturus spoke with the stirring of dragon's fire in his voice.
"And Sirius demanded his son be raised by me. I am his godmother, his guardian." Andromeda spoke with a sense of finality in her voice. "I don't deny Leo would be loved in your home, grandfather. But your love led to uncle Orion and cousin Regulus' deaths. Led to Sirius doing a runner at sixteen. Bella falling in with You-Know-Who. Here, Leo is truly loved. He is happy."
Arcturus remained silent, turning a baleful eye to the toaster, and the kitchen fell silent. His fingers twitched around his walking stick. The family turned as Leonis entered and Arcturus looked and — there was no doubt Leonis was the son of Sirius Black. He had high and regal cheekbones like Sirius. The same crooked, mischievous and cheeky smile. The same warm and brilliant grey eyes which sparkled with amusement and a tinge of slight apprehension.
For a moment, the old man stared into his grandson's face — the grandson he had been forced to abandon. The grandson he had left rotting in Azkaban for ten long, brutal, grueling years. Grief welled inside him, but a Black would never allow such expressions to rise to the surface. No, he would keep those feelings down inside his heart and refuse to let them out.
"What?" Leonis looked between the adults with a haze of nervousness on his face. "Is there something on my face?"
"No. No, nothing at all." Arcturus drew himself up, slipping himself into the role of Lord Black like a hand into a worn leather glove, and raised an imperious eyebrow. "Now, young Leonis, we get your school supplies. I will not have my heir dawdling like a gannet."

Asking Her... Again
Pairing: Chris Evans x Y/n Downey
Warnings: none, just fluff and a proposal, chris being nervous to propose
Summary: A night in during a global pandemic, Chris has an important question for Y/n... But has he forgotten how impatient she is?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What can I do for you Chris?” Robert asked through the phone, settling on his couch.
“Well... Y/n and I have been together for two years, almost three and I was thinking about pro-proposing-”
Chris was nervous, he couldn’t believe he was doing this, never in a million years did he think he would be asking Robert Downey Jr for his permission to marry his daughter.
But here we are
He especially didn’t think he would be doing it over FaceTime, but thanks to the recent pandemic, that had put a spanner in his plans also.
“That’s amazing Chris!” He cheered, the smile on his face was as wide as ever. “But you don’t need to ask. You know I love you both together.”
“What’s going on?’” Susan's voice could be heard, walking into the room.
“Chris is proposing!” Robert shouted gleefully, Chris started to panic, she was only in the other room and Robert wasn’t being subtle. So, he rushed to his feet to silently close their bedroom door, hopefully stopping the sound from traveling.
“That’s wonderful!” Her face popped up on the screen next to Robert’s, her smile just as big as his.
He knew Robert wouldn’t have a problem with it, but he remembered Y/n mentioning if he were to ask her he would need to speak to Robert first.
Chris was aware that Y/n’s end goal was marriage and kids, his was the same, but in the past couple of months her hints had become less subtle. They went from catching her looking at what engagement ring she would have, to outright talking about what their wedding would be like.
He didn’t mind, he loved talking about this with her, she had recently finished filming for The Falcon and The Winter Solider, and they were both stuck at home with no work being available, it had been a couple of weeks since a worldwide lockdown had been announced.
They had chosen to fly out to Sudbury, to be close to his family as the pandemic hit, and he couldn’t think of better timing to propose the way she wanted, in private, just them two and Dodger of course. Y/n couldn’t think of anything worse than having a public proposal, thankfully this was something her and Chris agreed on.
“Do you have the ring? Can we see it? When are you doing it?” Both of them asked at the same time, making him laugh at how eager they were.
“I do, let me get it, and I was planning on doing it tonight.” He mumbled, still trying not to draw much attention to himself. Propping his phone up against the lamp that rested on his bedside table as he rummaged through his duffle bag. Pulling the small, black, velvet box out of the bag he opened it and held it up towards the camera.
“Oh my god!” Robert exclaimed and Chris cringed at his volume.
“That’s beautiful Chris, she’s going to love it!” It was exactly what she wanted, a thin rose gold band with a tear drop white, silver diamond in the centre, they both admired as it glistened in the light. “It’s exactly what she wanted-”
“I’d say yes, how could you not?” Robert interrupted making Chris laugh, not wanting to risk her walking in he slipped the small box into his pocket, with a quick ‘good luck’ from them both he hung up the phone and took a deep breath.
The easy part was over
Now he just had to ask her, without pissing himself
That wouldn’t be romantic
Memorable, just not romantic
Tumblr media
Every time he saw the perfect opportunity throughout the night he chickened-
No, worse
He bitched out, bitched out hard
But what he didn’t know was that Y/n knew, she knew that he was planning on proposing, she had found the ring earlier that day stuffed at the bottom of his bag whilst unpacking it, he wasn’t the best at hiding things.
Y/n remembered when he hid her birthday present last year, under the kitchen sink.
She was just waiting for him to do it, but every time she thought he would he’d just change the subject.
It was becoming annoying and Y/n was becoming impatient.
Now settled on the sofa watching Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, their favourite one to watch together, Y/n couldn’t shake the itch she had to just blurt it out to him, she knew Chris was the man for her and he knew Y/n was the woman for him, so what was stopping him?!
Without thinking or before she could even stop herself the words came out.
“Will you just marry me already?!” Her sudden outburst made Chris’s head snap in her direction and his jaw fell open. “Isn’t that what you want? To marry me?” She had now changed her seated position, now turning to face him with her legs crossed.
“Y/n-”
“I saw the box this morning, when I was unpacking your things.” She admitted sheepishly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
Chris didn’t know if he wanted to marry her or kill her.
Marry, definitely marry.
“If you would’ve just waited-”
“Until when? You’ve been fidgety and quiet all night!” Y/n exclaimed, watching as Chris smiled, reaching into his pocket.
“If you would’ve just waited a little bit longer...” He repeated, pulling the box out and faked a gasp, Y/n now getting excited, her eyes transfixed on the little, black box in his hands. “Then you wouldn’t be the woman I fell in love with, because you wait for no one.”
Y/n watched Chris get up from the sofa and kneel on one knee in front of her, tears starting to prick at the corner of her eyes as she turned her body to face him.
“Which is fine,” he continued, opening the box to reveal the ring, hearing her gasp at the sight. “But as long as I get to be the one who spends the rest of his life trying to catch up with you.”
Y/n now was wiping away the tears that fell, her eyes meeting Chris’s which were also filled with tears, both sniffling.
“Y/n...” He trailed off as she nodded, humming in response. “Will you marry me?”
“It’s just so unexpected-”
“Y/n, will you shut up.” He laughed, “yes, or no?” Already knowing her answer.
“Yes! Yeah!” She waited until the ring was placed on her finger before launching forward and colliding their bodies, make him fall backwards, his back hitting the floor with a thud.
“This wasn’t how I wanted it to happen you know.” He mumbled against her lips, caressing her cheek, wiping the happy tears away with his thumb.
The sound of giggles and sloppy kisses filled the apartment, both still lying on the floor.
“Please, I just gave you the push you needed!” She argued, now sitting up so she was straddling him, holding her hand up to admire the beautiful engagement ring wrapped around her finger, getting giddy all over again. “It’s perfect!”
“You’re perfect.” He stated, bring her back down to him and plating wet kisses all over her face, making her laugh.
The sound of Dodger’s feet padding along the hard floor made them both look in his direction, to be greeted with even sloppier licks from him.

"that was painfully sexist" | t.h.
marvel cast x actress!reader
warnings: sexism and swearing
summary: at a panel for the new avenger's film, the questions differ drastically between the female and male actors on stage.
wc: 1.4k
Tumblr media
"Okay, a microphone is coming your way, sir."
"Hi! I'm Leonard with Pop Times Blog. My question is for Y/N." your eyes found the bearded man who stood amongst the crowd of reporters.
You nodded, signalling for him to continue, "Playing Silk or Cindy Moon must've came with a lot of challenges. One of them being the costume you are in for most of the film. Can you speak about that and how it fit?" he paused at your skeptical expression, "Like, we all know the suit is skin tight, so did you eat anything special or workout a lot and are you able to wear anything underneath it? Or do you wear a thong and no bra?"
You let out an unenthusiastic chuckle at his question. Beside you, you could hear your cast mates scoffing under their breath. It was common for the women of the MCU to get asked such questions and it saddened you that people normalized such a thing.
Leaning forward, you clasped your hands together and smiled before Robert reached behind Tom Holland and tapped your shoulder, "Would you like me to say something?"
You shook your head, but gave him a grateful grin before returning to the 'man' that asked you such a question, while maintaining eye contact you spoke, "Well, I think the most difficult part about wearing the Silk costume is taking it off after a long day because of how sweaty I get after shooting," you began to fan yourself dramatically, "It all just clings to my body like a second skin and since I am completely nude underneath, it just adds to the problem." sarcasm dripped from your lips as your cast mates snickered at your words.
You quietly laughed to yourself, "I'm only kidding. That question seemed like such a joke that I presumed you expected a joking answer." you cleared your throat, "In all seriousness, it's an honour wearing the suit and I did visit the gym and do some physical fitness regularly to prepare for the role, as did all my cast mates. As for what I wore underneath," you grinned cheekily, having too much fun messing with the reporter, "A Spider-Man onesie was my go-to."
The whole room let out laughs at your words as Tom grabbed your hand and gave you a small squeeze, feeling sorry that you had to answer such absurd questions.
"I hope everyone doesn't sexualize Cindy Moon. She's only a teenager in the film, so keep it in your pants people. That shit is illegal." Anthony pointed an accusing finger at the crowd.
"Thank you for your thoughtful question, Leonard!" Scarlett spoke up, "I hope you got the answer you were looking for."
"Okay, next person."
You sat back in your seat and fiddled with Tom's fingers as the questions were asked towards your cast mates.
"You handled that impressively well, love." Tom whispered in your ear.
You gave him a smile and a shrug before your name got called again, "My question is for Y/N and Tom Holland." a lady with curly blonde hair stood up, "Since Silk and Spider-Man's abilities are very similar, did you two bond over that during shooting or did it cause some rivalry between your characters due to the similarities?"
You felt a wave of relief at the question, thankful that it wasn't another sexist one. Tom looked at you before answering.
"Yeah, yeah. We bonded a lot over that fact and I don't think it caused any rivalry between us. I hope not." he chuckled before you leaned towards the mic.
"No, no. No rivalry. Just a lot of banter about whose character is stronger and who swings around better. It's a lot of fun having someone on set whose stunts are basically the same as yours. And Tom and I have both agreed that Silk is faster and better than Spider-Man." you said that last part quickly drawing laughs and a gasp from Tom.
He looked at you incredulously, "Not true! Spider-Man's suit is so much cooler than Silk's." he huffed like a child.
You smirked, "Who makes their webbing in a high school chemistry class and who has organic silk coming out of her fingertips that she also used to create her own suit?"
Your friends laughed at the banter beside you before Sebastian started to speak, "I have to agree with Y/N on this one. Silk also has that cool ass eidetic memory."
Chris Evans agreed, "And her Silk Sense is a thousand times stronger than Spider-Man's Spidey Sense."
"Isn't she able to know who an attacker is before she even sees them?" Hemsworth asked to which everyone nodded.
"Sorry, Spidey. Silk's just a top tier hero." Robert patted his shoulder as Tom sulked.
The questions began again as the laughter died down. You leaned over to Tom's ear, "Still love the actor who plays Spider-Man even if his character is inferior to mine." he shook his head with a smile at your words.
Questions ranged from the generic ones of the funniest moments on set to who's most likely to become a villain. Your nerves died down as no incompetent person asked another sexist question. Until one did.
"I have a question for Y/N." she was short with jet black hair, "Being around all these attractive men must be a challenge for you as a young female adult. It couldn't have been easy to control yourself around them. Have you had any sexual relationships with any of them or thought about engaging in any?"
Your jaw hung open at her words and before you could muster up a retort, Tom let his anger get the best of him. Was it his anger, his jealousy or his protectiveness? A mix of all three.
"That was painfully sexist." he spoke into the microphone. "I don't see how any of that is relevant to the film. Y/N is an outstanding actress and it's outrageous that you decide to focus on who she fucks rather than her talent."
"What in the actual fuck did she just ask?" Sebastian added, making you laugh.
Chris Evans spoke up next, "Indeed. I thought this was a promotion for the movie not a real life dating app."
Benedict chuckled, "I fail to see how Y/N's private life holds any relevancy to this panel or the film itself."
"It's twenty-nineteen, people! Leave your sexist ass shit at home!" Anthony exclaimed drawing claps from the cast.
Elizabeth shook her head, "I've had my fair share of inappropriate questions, but nothing as horrid as that."
"First y'all ask about her underwear, now you ask about her sex life? Jesus Christ." Scarlett pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Seriously, she's like a daughter to me. That was incredibly disrespectful." Robert added with a disappointed head shake.
Similar comments were added by the rest of the cast as you felt an overwhelming amount of love wash over you. You were so unimaginably grateful for the people next to you.
"You don't have to answer that." Paul Bettany reminded you.
You shook your head and cleared your throat, "Thank you, guys." you looked to your cast mates, "But I'll answer. No, I have not. This cast is my second family and I've grown greatly as a person with them. I'm immensely thankful for the opportunity to call them my friends. And I agree, these men sitting up here with me are undoubtedly attractive, but they are also a great pain in the ass at times," everyone laughed at your choice of words, "And have I thought about having sex with any of them? Nope. Just Scar, Zoe and Liz." you finished with a wink as the room clapped for you.
You couldn't help but to feel a slight bit of sympathy for the woman. Her question was, without a doubt, uncalled for and unbelievably sexist, but the comments from the cast must've made this her most embarassing moment.
"I'm sure you meant no harm with your question. But a little heads up for next time; most actors prefer to talk about their career and their films rather than who they are laying in bed with. But thank you for coming out. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day." you gave her a genuine smile as she cowered back into her seat.
Robert once again reached over and gave your shoulder a squeeze, proud of how you handled the situation.
Tom interlaced your fingers with his and rubbed small circles on your knuckles.
You really were at home with these people and you couldn't have asked for a better family.
