can we talking about rage as an expression of love. can you think, with me, about the implications of violence as a love letter. can we think about blood spilled in the name of the heart, how rage burning hot or cold is how some people express their deepest and most sincere form of devotion.
i will burn the world down for you

LEAVE MY BABYGIRL ALONE
Tumblr media
This man has been nothing but the best for his students, even if they didn’t always get it.
Let’s get something out of the gate - as a Stone Genasi and Oath of the Ancestors, if he was connected to any of the Giant Gods, it would probably be either the one tied to Fall or Spring (My money is on a Cloud Giant for spring and Stone Giant for Fall) and NOT the summer oriented Fire Giant God. It’d make more sense that his Oath of Ancestors means that he’s probably tied to the Stone over the Fire.
And this is all assuming that Porter worships a Giant God - the man isn’t even a giant. Lucy was a Genasi who followed a Giant God, that doesn’t nesacarily mean that Porter is also a Genasi following a Giant God. We don’t even know if he follows a God, it could easily just be an Elder Earth Elemental or like, Peepaw Cliffbreaker. Paladins have oaths, not gods - its just that oaths are sworn most often to Gods that they get it wrong
Anyways - Rage.
Do you think that Brennan Lee Mulligan thinks Rage is bad? Like, this id a narrative and it has a message - and that message probably is not going to end up being ‘Anger is bad.’ Because it ISNT.
Lydia has been in a rage for decades. Put that into perspective a DnD rage is meant to last Ten Rounds - 1 minute - with at most like, 4-5 uses a day. Lydia, for the safety of herself and the world, has been at it for over twenty years.
Adaine was so angry with her dad she killed him, and that moment was justified and cathartic! It was a hell yeah! And it was a moment of raw fucking rage.
“Do you have a warrant? Do you have a fucking warrant?” Gorgug my boy for the first time in your entire life you allowed yourself to get angry without self recrimination or doubt. And you know what Porter’s reaction to that was?
Pride. Absolute Pride.
“Rage is not a bad thing - Ayda… says you’re the greatest wizard of this age. And I feel LUCKY to have you in my class. You’re someone who can use that rage in a smart way but it’s not wrong to want… to fuck shit up sometimes!”
You want to know whats dangerous? What’s bad for you? Bottling up your emotions and never expressing them. Feeling terrible for what you’re feeling. Thinking your emotions are harmful intrinsically.
This is another Nightmare King circumstance. A God and their spouse were murdered, by Sol. People forget that a lot, Sol murdered Cassandra and now we learned it was a double homicide. Does this Summer God of Fire not deserve to feel angry? Is that not justified?
IT IS!
The Rat Grinders are the only followers of this Rage God. What they are is what the Rat Grinders want. As Above, so Below.
If Fig does as Porter told her to, she could restore this God just as Kristen did with Cassandra. If terror and confusion can turn into comfort in doubt, why can’t Unchecked Fury turn into justified expression of emotion?

okay so now that i’ve officially finished watching leverage i just want to say that maybe i’m obsessed with this show on multiple levels and something about how it hits so many itches in that it’s about found family and it’s about fucking over bad, rich guys (no billionaire bootlicking in this show! and i fucking love it) and it’s also about how sometimes the bad guys are the only good guys you get and it’s also about how we are all stronger together it’s about how at the start of this show, we have all of these characters who are largely used to working alone and being alone and yet the show concludes that ultimately, we are better when we are together and by being together, we might be able to leave something behind that is bigger and brighter for the next people in our generation and no man is an island and no person is meant to beat goliath on their own or whatever
#caroline talks#leverage#not to be like. emotional but.#i am emotional actually!#i'm just. i get emotional thinking about all of the characters#and just how complex they are#nate with his alcoholism and his rage against the world and how he's arrogant and angry and sad and yet i think he cares so much#he cares so much about his team even if he can be a bit of an ass#sophie who adopts a million personas at the blink of an eye and yet has her own loneliness about who actually knows her#parker who keeps herself closed off bc y'know trauma in the foster care system and yet she learns to express herself and trust people#eliot who resigns himself into thinking that he's a monster and yet he starts to do some good and just. winds up protecting everyone in his#new family which. MAN i can't express enough how much that storyline means to me too#like when is a monster not a monster? / oh when you love it or whatever#and then there's hardison who's so incredibly bright and warm and can talk his way out of most situations#and then he hits a wall when all that brightness and wit and intelligence still might not get him out of a scary situation#and that's. that's when he needs people too. that's when he needs his team#and like. there are so many important points in this show#but like one of the ones i like to think about.#is just like. that you could be incredibly good at whatever it is you do#but you need people. you need a team. you need to trust others and together you can do amazing things#individually they're great#but together they're unstoppable and i think about that a lot#no man is an island and it takes a village or whatever!#also unrelated but i also find it a little funny (i'm sorry) that i finished leverage literally the night the implosion news came out

if orin was a man she would be so much more popular and given the most empathy
#orin the red#orin#and not met with the misogyny or people not acknowledging what she is a victim to. she's faces violence and the only person#she's been groomed into “loving” is a man who had her by raping her own sister he wants to rape her or for durge to rape her and abuses her#i loathe that a character who is a woman who has faced things that are part of really graphic serious subject matter as a joke or to mock#like if people look at orin and go haha stupid evil crazy woman larian should have done better and not made light of this#the fact that people think she's the least sympthatic is pure misogyny#how tragic that i will never see her turn her rage violence and chaos at the men who abused her groomed her and used her#and she dies so some fucking man can live and get a new life#if you're gonna yell at me about this post i will not respond#even dare i say the most popular villain? if there wasn't durge/gortash? even larian panders to any fav male characters she gets no love#ketheric is an abusive selfish father and the game and fandom see him as some sympathetic character....orin has zero autonomy thinking#ketheric is not even sympathetic but even saying gortash has it the worst more than orin is pure misogyny and your blind thirsting#she has even more trauma than any male version of her can have because misogyny but that's the irony#she would get the empathy if she was a man & female characters in general would be more loved/popular/defended if they were men lbr#those essays an energy women and fandom only put into expressing empathy for tragic men

If I’m not able to pull up the DSM-5 and check off at least half of the criteria for autism when reading a Batman run, then I believe the author fundamentally misunderstands Batman’s character.
It’s not that I’m saying Bruce should be autistic. What I am saying is that if Bruce is not at least neurodivergent-coded then he ultimately loses nearly all of his most defining habits and personality traits. Expecially the ones that are shown through interacting with other characters & internal dialogue.
#batman#dc comics#bruce wayne#dc#most of his defining characteristics are autistic traits#low empathy and being able to process your emotions#having a very strong sense of Justice and What Is Right#only feeling emotions in the extremes or feeling nothing#it’s to the point for me where anger gives almost the same feeling as being happy#just because it’s as intense of an emotion that it almost feels the same#and as someone who has gone to therapy for many years to understand that while anger is an easier way to feel emotions#seeking happiness is not only healthier but makes you not a shit person to be around#that was me who learned that. Bruce simply did not#so therefore: anger & rage & pain help him feel#so he deliberately seeks it out#he’s also very awkward at talking to people#not to fucking mention he’s more comfortable talking to people in a professional setting than in an unprofessional one#he has difficulty processing and expressing emotions and just ASSUMES that people know what they mean to him#instead of telling them. this leads to Many communication issues where people around Bruce don’t feel appreciated or loved because he#NEVER FUCKING TELLS THEM AND JUST ASSUMES THEY KNOW! NO THEY DO NOT BRUCE YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO TELL THEM#his exceptionally dry humor is exactly my autistic sense of humor#lightly making fun of friends or lying about stuff obviously with a straight face and deadpan delivery#his nonverbal ‘hnm’s#his hyporeactivity to sensory input and pain are also very telling#his communication issues because he’s on a different wavelength than those around him#i could go on and on and on but that’s all for now#actually autistic

I've seen more shinogiyuu shippers misinterpret people portraying Shinobu as she really is (which is playfully sassy and mean with a kind heart but genuine amount of repressed anger) and saying that they're "making her a bully" than I have other people actually make Shinobu a "bully". They always complain about how SaneGiyuu shippers mischaracterize her by making her mean (as if that's anything to do with the SG ship and not... the fandom in general??) but then they'll point to instances where said person is deliberately NOT doing that??? Like, they're the ones that interpret everyone else's portrayal of her as an evil bitch when she's literally... being how she is in cannon. It's really angering seeing them act like she's not allowed to express anything but pure fucking jolly joy as if that doesn't literally go against her whole deeper character.
And part of it really does link back to how the shinogiyuu shippers like to mischaracterize her themselves by completely forgetting her whole story depth of being a deeply angry, obsessive, traumatized person so they can make her Tomioka's Personal Wifey Tsundere who's Only Emotion Is Love And Lust For Giyuu despite the fact that whether or not you think she likes him romantically, she makes fun if him. That was our first introduction to them together. That is a well known fact. And no, she doesn't mean to hurt him like Obanai would, but it's really fucking easy to make the difference known?? How do you get so confused when you're the so called Shinobu Experts you dumb losers.

[ID copied from alt text: A digital bust drawing of my D&D character Leandre (he/him), set against a black background. The piece is made of a limited palette of shades of red and blues, as well as fiery orange and yellow. Leandre is a young satyr with long wavy hair is flowing upwards above his head, most of it wreathed in fire, but a smaller portion of it dark and streaked with blues. Two thirds of his face is red, with that side portraying anger, while the last third is blue, portraying a teary eyed sadness. End description.]
There's a deep sadness that hides beneath his rage
