Unanswered things in Side Order

After finishing Side Order, unlocking all the dev diaries, and getting/seeing what I believe is all dialogue lines, I still have several lore questions that never got answered. Figured I’d put em in a post for folks to either answer or speculate about :3

Major main game and post-game spoilers below:

If Acht willingly got sanitized like promotional material confirmed years ago during Octo Expansion’s release, why does Acht suggest that they were forcefully sanitized? One of their early game quotes says that “someone or something there took [their] will away” and that they “were forced to DJ for it”. The way I interpret this is that Acht suggests they were unwillingly sanitized (their final dev diary also kind of suggests this, especially in the art), but it could also be implying that Acht’s sanitization isn’t what they expected it to be…? It could also just be a lore retcon which would suck but. Yknow.

How and why is Acht in the Memverse to begin with? We know that they weren’t there when Pearl, Marina and Eight tested out Dramatic Days in Orderland for the first time, so were they pulled in by Order? If so, how long ago? And how did Marina not know they were in there?

What’s Acht been up to in between Octo Expansion and Side Order? How long after Tartar was defeated did Acht break out of sanitization?

Relating to the above kinda, Acht says they heard a voice that snapped them out of sanitization. It’s later implied to be Pearl’s killer wail in Octo Expansion (Acht later says “I just get the feeling I’ve heard Pearl’s voice before somehow”), but the conversation where it’s first brought up (and Marina talks about developing the Memverse to help sanitized Octarians) Marina says, “…since we’re having this conversation, that means it must’ve worked!” to which Acht replies, “Huh. So that was you, was it?” I could 100% be misinterpreting this but which is it? If it wasn’t Pearl, whose specific voice was it and how did Acht hear it? Also did they regain their pre-sanitization memories back instantly or did they never lose them (I haven’t memorized exactly how sanitization works tho I know it’s explained in Haikara walker). My understanding was that Acht heard Pearl’s killer wail and it snapped them out of sanitization because it killed Tartar, but now I’m not sure.

When were each of Acht’s dev diaries/letters written? The first two seem like they were written before Side Order (implying Acht could’ve been in touch with Marina before they got pulled in), and the final one is definitely after.

How did Acht get to the surface, like their final letter mentions?

Are Order and Smollusk the exact same entity? I know they kind of are but why do they act so different? And why does defeating Order causes it to “transform” into Smollusk? Could it be that Smollusk was an AI originally coded into the Memverse but it got corrupted because of Marina and the octoling’s desire for order?

When was Order created in the Memverse dev timeline? How long had it existed prior to Pearl, Marina and Eight testing it out?

What in the ever-loving FUCK is Parallel Canon? I’m half-joking in saying that and I do like how vague it is, but is it Agent 4 or just using their soul or likeness? The fact that we get its mask does NOT bode well for 4 I think

Does. Does Marina force sanitized Octarians to go through the Spire and fight the Jelletons to get their will/memories back. Do they have to fight Overlorder at the end why are we traumatizing them more-

Wanted to join in the clan gen blogs BUT, see, I'm bad at comics, so I am not gonna even ATTEMPT to commit to that. But what can I commit to? A gigantic illustration that will take me weeks? Uh, sign me up!

So, I opened clan gen and created a clan, played two hundred moons on it and drew out the final family tree! I'll probs reblog this later with like, doodles of memorable moments the clan had, my fav relationships n stuff, but this is the main project heheh.

It's so many cats y'all. so many. 84 I think? God, and I was trimming the clan too! Kits and joiners that I killed as soon as they joined were not added here. Mostly kits tho.

Mapping out the characters was the hardest part. While clangen offers a pretty comprehensive family tree by looking up each cat, it's harder to have them all mapped out (which is why clangen doesn't DO that, they arent stupid like me) I started by mapping it all out on a site called Family Echo, with which I could map out the greatest majority of the tree~ I then did a rough sketch on my canvas laying out where the characters would be. And looking back, I hilariously underestimated how much space I would need, lollll. The original canvas was already pretty big, about 5000x1200, but that was before I decided to do, you know, a nice organized layout. Here's that original tree layout:

So umm, a whole ass mess. The final canvas is... 11480x3513. The biggest canvas I've ever had to have. golly.

Would I recommend this to anyone? Well, if you start your clan and do this immediately and go updating bit by bit as the moons go by, then yeah! I really enjoy visuals like these, it's like seeing statistics, heheh. Otherwise, unless you seek suffering? NO.

Fun fact, originally the clan was named DewClan, but while I was playing, @moons-of-dewclan started their blog (yes, I've been working on this for that long (also, go check themout, it's really really ggod!) and I was like oop, so I just used orvalho, which is,,, dew in Portuguese heheh.

There probably are mistakes here and there, for example I just saw that BirtchSpike is named as BirthSpike... OH FUCKING WELL.

Saw Wish (2023) recently and tbh it wasn’t as bad as ppl said it was, but it was pretty unbefitting for disney’s 100 anniversary movie. I feel like if it weren’t high stakes put on it and was just a regular disney film, it wouldve gotten average reviews. Tho i dont think it deserves to be nominated solely for the fact that a lot of better animated movies came out, i think it still had a lot of neat stuff in it (I mildly enjoyed the message and some of the songs). But even then, it still had many flaws, like the songs being all pop instead of a broadway-style and not rly memorable, as well as not developing the story more.

Another thing I would like to add is that it truly doesn’t appreciate the legacy it’s trying to showcase here. it only encapsulates what the company is to a marketable and modern audience, so it only includes relevant and recent disney pop culture references rather than include stuff from one of the older movies. it shows us what disney, the corporation, is; not disney, the animation studio, is.

I’m just gonna blurt out a list of things what I personally think would make the movie better since it had a lot of potential but wasn’t directed well. again this is my opinion so no need to get all defensive or aggressive:

• first of all, the music. they shouldve gotten either a.) a new and upstart musician from broadway since Ashman himself stated that most of the disney melodies we now know are pretty much a broadway musical but animated or b.) gather a band of all the musicians that wrote for disney and each of them contribute a song. Like in the beginning the songs could sound like golden age of disney songs and then it progresses until we get to the end where we get the modern taste of it.

• wouldve also been nice for the animation to also progress with the music. from 2d to 3d as the film goes on but that could translate poorly so I suggest just making it 2d since it’s the best way to incorporate the storybook style.

• next, the villains. i rly agree with the concept of a villain couple, not just because it would be really fun but also could comprise of characteristics from both past male and female villains of disney.

• random idea but these villains should have like henchmen/apprentices. I know asha’s there to be the apprentice but I think I wanna shift the plot a bit here. now all these apprentices reference a disney villain and agree with magnifico’s philosophy about wishes. at the end of the movie, when the big baddies are defeated, they hide and go out into the world where they become the true baddies we know them to be. Preventing dreamers from achieving their dreams.

• Asha as a character should have traits that resembles the majority of the disney princesses, not just the recent quirky trope. Should be somewhat naive but a dreamer and still kind but also misunderstood. idk just like a character that symbolizes the typical disney heroine. They also shouldve given her clothes that resemble more of a fairy godmother (specifically the one she wore during the climax) rather than her rapunzel-esque outfit to distinguish her more

• they shouldve made star have human-like qualities and included the romance with the star. i like how disney’s going with the no-romance thing but romance was a big part of the disney franchise for a long time, and it wouldve been nice to see that again, but with more modern romance tropes (e.g. black cat gf/golden retriever bf, etc) to appeal to modern audiences, so younger kids could understand what made the early films so dreamy and charming.

• flesh out the citizens!!! if the seven friends are the seven dwarves, add more to them. i was especially sad with grumpy since he was more annoying than grumpy. Justify his personality, as well as the others. give us a reason why the citizens need their wish back instead of just showing one character that without their wish, they are just boring. Show the entire population just being outright miserable and blank without their wishes.

• another thing to add to the point above is to establish the people of rosas’ dreams. Because we see in one scene with magnifico that each person dreams of becoming something magical (e.g. one person dreaming of being peter pan and another wanting to become mary poppins). wouldnt it be nice to establish that the people of rosas ARE the disney characters we love and know, which makes them getting back their wishes so important. without it, they wouldn’t be the childhood favorites we know and love today.

• it wouldve been really swell for the grandpa to be a walt disney adjacent character that dreams of learning how to draw. yes he’s a controversial figure nowadays but if ur gonna make a disney 100 celebration, at least make it a point to include the guy u named the company after.

• it also wouldve been really swell if the sidekick character wasn’t a goat but a mouse that resembles mickey in a way, plus a whole gang of other side characters that references mickey’s gang (a female mouse, two ducks, two dogs, etc). they are the official mascots of the company so it’d be really weird to not include or reference them.

• this is going into fanfiction territory but i want the ending scene to be about how the people of rosas finally achieving their wishes and setting forth out into the world to inspire others to follow their wishes (including the evil apprentices in the hopes of destroying those dreams). in the end, when nothing is left, asha just looks out into the distant and transforms into the fairy godmother and then the rosas castle kinda becomes the disney castle we see in the intro. ik this sounds bad on paper and it probably is but by adding stuff i think we could make it better.

I know all of this is bordering fanfiction but like it wouldve been nice for the disney creatives to just go all in. And as a viewer, i did see the potential this movie had, but it just wasn’t done right. And it rly did make me sad to see a good premise go to waste because the message of the movie is what captures that disney magic: the ability to make a wish and seeing that wish come true.

tl;dr: Wish, although one of the less better animated movies this year, really had the potential to be great but wasn’t done right due to pressure of it being the disney 100 celebration. Instead of showcasing the passion and heart that the Walt Disney animation studios did for 100 years, it only displayed the heartlessness of the corporation it has grown to be. And I for one, though I attempted to fix it, am still saddened to see that what was once (and should be) a celebration of creativity and passion got turned into a moneymaker that billionaires see only as products, not as art.

As a westerner fan, I can see where people come from when they claim flaw = human. Many books of western literature (being Italian, I have some examples from the Italian literature, authors like Verga or Pirandello whose works are full of characters with flaws and do a lot of mistakes, or Joyce from English literature). I too think that characters with flaws can be interesting if wrote correctly and also sometimes make the character more memorable as well. But on these days YA literature ruined it all. More than flaws = human, is more flaw = excuse.

The authors I quoted at the begging wrote interesting stories because in the end flaws weren't an excuse but rather something that brought doom upon the character, which is either a tragic death or lonely and unhappy life caused by their mistakes, human means also to have consequence of your actions but now YA literature make flaws look like a pride, something that makes them different from the mass but not something that is to be fixed for self improvement. Now anger issues and bad temperament is being little tsundere bean angwy, being an asshole who always has something mean to say to others is sassy, being an inept, spineless and self deprecating is "noooo baby must protect" and shyness is cute (say that to me, a shy person who cannot speak without anon button and is afraid to even ask a question to ask a question to a teacher). This is not being human, this is being a caricature that unfortunately people apply to MDZS too and as far as I see there are plently discussions on the blog about it.

JC is flawed, yes, and I like to think that WWX has some flaws as well. But JC's personality is full of flaws: bad temperament, doesn't take responsibility unless it suits him, doesn't take weaknesses with respect (as we have seen with Jin Ling, and WWX claims that JC made fun of his cynophobia after protecting him) and wants always to put a blame on others.

WWX's flaws are a bit his poor memory and the fact he likes to push people buttons and his prankster nature, as we have seen many times (Lan Qiren, LWJ), but are not major flaws but rather some parts of his personality that makes him endearing.

So not only the flaws have different weight (JC's one being one more fatal) but WWX has good character qualities to balance while JC rarely shows them (the only good thing about him is the fact he cares about his family). But fans simply refuse that, refuse JC's flaws as FLAWS, which is ironic to say the least, and makes him a japanese archetype of character, and excuse his behavior. I'm not sure if it's projection as you often say (I hate to assume things about people based purely on their preferences), it simply ruins fandom experience and simplifies a character to a caricature, it doesn't make him human on any way. Being human also means to get your ass whipped when you do some bs, not only having flaws while crying that society wants you to be perfect but you are not, but they don't know ANYTHING about literature (and no, YA doesn't count) in general but pretend to know by putting big words in their mouth such as "being human" or any other edgy quote you can think of.

P. S. Sorry for this long rant, feel free to ignore it if you want. Simply I feel a bit safer to express it on this blog rather, and you are also free to not agree on what I said. And I love your metas <3

Exactly.

I think the problem with people like JC stans is not their views on flaws, their problem is they reject the concept of consequences and reality.

We don't have to put down traits as flaws or virtues, interesting or boring, they can be subjective, and it depends on the execution. What's universally true tho is, actions have consequences. For wwx, the consequences of standing up for wen remnants against the mob and establishment is being targeted by the whole cultivation community, and ultimately death. The consequences for Jc's behavior is people leaving him and avoiding him. For a story to have believability, characters' actions have to lead to consequences. The most unhinged thing about JC stans' "takes" is they don't accept actions should have consequences, they think if they tell a little sob story, they're absolved of consequences. that's rejection of reality.

People overestimate the power of sob story, both in reality and in fiction. People who want sympathy, want their flaws and bs hand waved, need to remember it's other people's power to grant sympathy and leniency. You're not entitled to have your bs excused.

Who is this electrifying figure? More on them, after the break!

It was perhaps unsurprising that Dr. Mr. Peanut, a biological supercomputer who ended up creating distorted horrifying advertising monsters, would come back from the dead. They are, after all, based on a seed-bearing plant.

What was slightly more surprising is that they would come back so soon. But come back soon they did, and their first monster was Killerwatt, an electrical horror suspended in air. They not only can do the usual lightning tricks, but also tend to emphasize the use of electromagnetism, such as shielding itself from metallic projectiles and launching metallic projectiles back at the things it was shielding from.

And that;s even before we get into the gargantuan “plasma knife” it can produce (Most memorably used in a swordfight with Blue Bull) and its most civillian-dangerous power, its ability to absorb electricity! Not only do most kaiju with electrical attacks have difficulty dealing with it, but LPTs are even more useless than usual, cities are blacked out even before it does its major damage, making evacuation efforts a nightmare. And that major damage is, apparently, part of its agenda as an “advertising” monster.

Because, it always goes to destroy the utility services first. Which means they have to build more. Which, if you’ve seen that John Oliver segment, you know that leads to a lot of profits in the utility companies’ banks. Which, while they have not made any official statements, they sure aren’t complaining.

But, the creature does have a fair few exploitable weaknesses. The electricity that makes up its “body” is not its actual body. That would be the lightbulb with the eye in it, channeling itself through the “boots” and glove that serve as more-or-less-extremely complex lightning rods. And that bulb, while it is proportionately a small target, is still very weak and vulnerable.

Which is perhaps why the creature has such a neurotic, meticulous personality. For, while it may seem coldly logical, calculating and overanalyzing every move it makes in both infrastructure destruction and combat, when it feels it has something to fear, its temperament changes to something approximately akin to a chihuahua in the face of a vaccuum cleaner.

This is not helped when it ends up facing Bash, because of the fact that one might think that Bash’s electrical powers might not help in the face of Killerwatt, one would be wrong. Bash finds their energy constructs delicious.

They, unsurprisingly, have a crippling fear of Bash...

I don’t have enough followers for an ask meme--let alone one for a niche fandom like Acceleracers--so I’m just gonna fill (most of) this out on my oWN. Credit goes to @tomiyeee​ for the meme and the post can be found here!

How did you first get into the series? It’s all @schnellicanth​‘s fault (and I love him for it) -- I think it was around 2019? We watched it for a group movie night, and MAN I thought for sure I’d be able to multitask during World Race... couldn’t. Didn’t. I was enthralled.

What do you like most about the series? I’m a character enjoyer & there are, in fact, many very lovely characters to enjoy. I just.. I love them, man. There’s really only one that I actively dislike, and that’s uhh. Vert’s dad. Sorry, dude. Do better.

Favorite & least favorite movie? I think World Race/Highway 35 is the weak link in the series as a whole? It’s still super enjoyable, don’t get me wrong! But it’s less imminently rewatchable for me (when all by myself, anyway).

I think my favourite is Breaking Point? Really enjoy the drama, aha. Also, in the (unlisted) Initial eDition put together by my aforementioned friend--he put m.o.v.e’s “Outsoar the Rainbow” over the Silencerz’ opening sequence. And it’s probably one of my most favourite things ever.

Favorite & least favorite character(s)? My ultimate fave is Wylde -- he’s my son. I won’t accept criticism. I know he’s a huge jerk in Acceleracers, but 8′) as a former Younger Sibling with a complicated relationship to my elder brother? Relatable. He’s really just a scared / traumatised kid, man... I care him. He needs to Do Better, but I care him so much. I also really Love/Hate Tezla, but that’s its own whole thing. Honourable mentions include: Shirako, Vert, Kurt, and Taro (really I love them all tho)

Least favourite! I think I already mentioned... it’s Major Wheeler. I sympathise with being a single parent & a widower, but also man. There’s a couple of things he says which REALLY bug me, y’know? ‘You don’t know how sorry I am’ isn’t an apology! Do better. Vert deserves better.

Favorite & least favorite car(s)? I may be biased, but I do really like Spinebuster, aha. Also, Bassline. I’m not sure I have a least fave? Tho the Deora II is sure silly lookin.

Thoughts on the redesigns? I think they’re fine! Taro takes a bit of a hit & I def prefer his WR look, but I think he’s mostly victim to art style rather than the design itself. (also I find Wylde’s Princess Peach lips v funny & good)

Favorite World Race team? Wave Rippers :p Probably for being more memorable than the others, since they have like. the highest number of prominent cast members.

Teku or Metal Maniacs? I love them equally. They both have really fun team dynamics <3

Silencerz or the Drones? Drones. They sure ain’t good guys, but I trust the Silencerz less...

What ships do you like (if any)? I’ve created my own Dinghy. >>;;

My OTP is Vert/Mark Wylde -- like post-canon, once they’ve had a chance to make up. Coz I think it’s a damn shame that the breakdown in their friendship was never addressed :< I wan them to... be friends.... and maybe more....

Tho I’ve seen a lot of Vert/Nolo & Vert/Shirako in the fandom tag. I think that’s also super valid and neat.

Otherwise? I think I polycule’d Taro/Kurt/Karma/Lani together. Just. As ya do. Kadeem can also get in there if he wants. It’s not a super uniform relationship--some are closer to and/or more romantic with certain members more than others--but I can’t & shan’t be tamed.

I do enjoy Karma/Lani & Taro/Kadeem as individual ships. Maybe Taro/Lani with a little post-canon patching up. Though, Kurt I don’t really ship with anyone by himself. Sorry, man >u<

Random headcanon/theory about [insert character/faction/event/etc]? Gosh, I have so many. I am very pleased, though, with the random HC I have that Shirako lives with his grandparents (or, rather, they live with him). They’re both very supportive & interested in his hobbies.

Nothing happened to his parents, mind. They just decided to move to Japan not long after he became an adult, and he chose to stay. He loves his grandparents & his friends very much. :>

Any crossover/AU ideas? Uhhh, I think I tossed around the idea of an Oban Star-Racers crossover -- didn’t really come up with anything. I just think it would be neat to smash my two favourite racing series together.

If you could change anything about the story, what would it be? The only thing I can think of is like. :( Kadeem. I don’t mind so much what happens as much as I wish there had been time to truly resolve everything. Kadeem deserves to live and be happy.

Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series? Well, just based on what I’ve seen in the tags, I seem to be in the minority when I say I really love Mark Wylde. So, take that as you will.

Since I think there’s some really neat narrative parallels between Mark & Kurt’s relationship vs Vert and Major Wheeler’s relationship... Vert takes the other path. Instead of unconditional forgiveness, Vert decides that, while he still loves his father, doesn’t hate him... nothing like that. It’s just really complicated. Maybe it’s better right now if he takes time away from his father.

...among some other things that I’m probably forgetting right now, but oop. this is long enough.

saw an interesting article about how bang pd thinks that kpop might be slowing down and an comments/insiders disagreeing. i actually think hes right tho, not necessarily that its slowing down but i think kpop as an industry is in a bubble irt worldwide attention/expansion and its going to pop at some point

point one: album sales. someone said groups are selling millions every comeback which is a true fact. however we know that a majority of those albums end up on the streets, "donated", or end up being thrown away once the inclusions are taken out. the sales are massively and artificially inflated, and thats not sustainable in the long run. at some point consumers will not be able to continue spending that amount of money every comeback.

point two: massive debuts and lots of debuts per year. while there's no shortage of groups that are releasing music every year, how many are actually memorable? is there that much of a distinction between each group that would allow them to grow and remain in the industry for a long while? and musically, what is the draw to these new groups? a distinct sound, incredible talent? and while debuts are becoming more massive every year, does that translate into long term fan retention and promotablity? its great if a group gets millions of views and sales for their debut but what about two years from then? three? if everyone come for the debut and the spectacle of it but doesnt stick around, then how much longer would a group succeed?

point three: resources. theres a huge distinction between the big companies and the small to mid size companies. the big companies have the money and resources to keep funding groups regardless of sales and views and retention, whereas smaller companies most likely dont. that then leads to a disparity between the groups of those companies.

point four: worldwide impact. pd bang also said that kpop is not as hot in the market as we expect, and honestly i think its a bit true. the only kpop song ive ever heard on mainstream radio was jimin's solo debut. jennie's minor role was the first time i saw an idol acting in the us who was marketed as a kpop idol specifically. (this isnt counting the work people like Rain and god's Joon who were in hollywood when i was a kid). groups and idols are going on talkshows for promo but has it translated to gp knowledge at all? and thats only considering the us where theres a massive push in marketing and promotion. outside of that, has kpop actually made a significant impact to markets or are we seeing a very vocal subgroup of consumers? this is excluding places like China, Japan, and a lot of South East Asia where kpop has always had a significant impact on the music and entertainment market.

I was overwhelmed. All that has been happening, it was just against me. At first I was chill, overjoyed to the fact that we finally had the time to be together and be happy for once. Yet at the back of my mind, i was nervous knowing that there would be happenings that will cause me to be vulnerable and feel lacking.

The night was fun from the start tho we started a bit late. All the food and games were very memorable.

But then, there are just some things that are bound to happen. We were blindfolded. We dont have the slightest idea what will happen. We were paired up with each other and Im sooo thankful that Roby was my partner. I feel protected and secured since some upclass will try to get in our way just to separate us.

Then an event came where there is a one on one talk with the upclass. I was asked what I fear about kore and i answered that i was afraid that i was a burden. The fact that i feel like im trying my best yet for the very least im just not enough. My upclass would try to reassure me that it is fine to feel that way since everyone has tasks to be fulfilled and altos have very hard parts to follow to.

Yet after that, i didnt knew that i was the last one to enter our group (batch 2020). We were tasked to pick who’s the strongest and weakest within the batch. I was voted the weakest by the majority. That hit me hard. I cant seem to comprehend what seems the reason i did wrong. I began to overthink. Everything went into place. I was weak. I was a burden. I feel like i dont belong here. The purpose of akwe was for me to build strong bonds towards the other members but seems like i just develop more insecurities during the process. I felt wrong. I felt disappointed in myself that i somehow dont deserve to be a part of this family.

Tho they actually reassured me that i should not consider myself as a weak point in kore yet i feel like im not enough for them. My insecurities get the better of me. They said that it’s fine and i also have a big part in the org. That everyone’s valid. Idk it didnt reached me somehow. And im just here hiding behind everything else, not revealing myself coz surely, everyone will just say its fine when its not.

Then next morning i ended up spilling water in my ipad inside my bag. Idk what happened yet again while walking home, i just had to breakdown. Pota ang hirap na po maging makatarungang tao. Paano na ba to???

Thats just it. All my insecurities showed up and i just had to tell all thats happened to my che friends during akwe as i cry myself here in sham’s bed. My mother got mad when i told her about my ipad. Now i just wanna hold back my tears. Im very tired already. Just pls lemme have my rest.

-Okay, to start off, Dís would just be the coolest friend to have, but everyone already knows that.

-There's always some sort of adventure with Dís, and she'll always have something planned, whether it's an afternoon sparring and learning skills with the blade, or running off into the forest and going fishing, it's always a guaranteed good time.

-Once the two of you found a stray kitten and took care of it together, and once it was grown the cat shared it's time between your two homes.

-The most memorable adventure would probably be when it was absolutely pouring outside and Dís dragged you out to the river to swim in the rain, because there's no greater vibe than that.

-Dís is also a big fan of crystal hunting, and while the Blue Mountains don't have the same minerals as Erebor, there's plenty of interesting mines that the two of you explore and pick treasure out of.

-I feel like Dís would also be a pretty physical friend (think hugs, platonic hand-holding, shoulder pats, ect.), but never overbearing, and always able to tell whether someone felt uncomfortable with it or not.

The trip to Tatooine was spent on Din’s lap with your eyes closed and his lips on yours. The fact that he put his trust in you to keep your eyes closed and not break his creed meant so much more to you than you could express.

He kissed you languidly, like the two of you had all the time in the world. You memorized the feeling of each other’s lips and tongues. He left more marks on your neck encouraged by your moans.

The two of you exited the ship to survey the damage, but before you reached the ramp he stopped you with a hand on yours. He opened the closet with all his weapons and pulled out a blaster and a holster.

He pulled you to him with a hand on your waist. He attached the holster to your belt before slipping the blaster in it.

“Thank you.”, you said.

“Now that you know how to use it you need to keep it with you to protect yourself.”, he said and you nodded. Then he grabbed an absurd amount of weapons for himself before strapping the pulse rifle onto his back.

When the two of you reached the outside of the ship Din let out a deep sigh at the large gouge in the side of the crest.

“Well that’s...not great.”, you said.

He sighed again turning his helmet towards you, giving you a pointed look.

You snorted and said, “It could be worse.”

You could feel him giving you the same look, this time with a tilt of his helmet.

“Don’t give me that look”, you said with a laugh. “I can fix it. We’ll just need a few parts. No need to worry, love.”

“I- I wasn’t worried.”, he said, his voice sounding off.

You quirked an eyebrow at him.

“Are you blushing under that tin can?”, you asked with a smirk.

“What?”, he cleared his throat, “No, definitely not.”

You laughed, happy to have gotten him flustered for once.

“I can head into town and get what we need. I bet I can get it fixed by the time you get back.”, you said.

He nodded putting the credits you would need in your hand then pulling you towards him and wrapping your arms around his neck.

“Be safe cyar’ika.”, he said.

“You too.”, you said getting a chuckle from him.

“I’ll be back as soon as I can.”, he said with a pat to your ass that caused you to blush deeply. With a chuckle, he walked away.

You continued to survey the damage on the ship determining what supplies you would need. It looked worse than it was, nothing major was broken. It was lucky the damage wasn't anywhere more essential.

You worked on fixing what you could before you eventually had to head into town for the supplies.

“I really don’t like sand”, you muttered as you reached the town and stopped to pour out the sand from your boots.

It was a small town with not many people walking around.

You found a small shop with a polite older woman who you bartered with to get all the supplies you needed. You were lucky to find them all in one place.

“This is a day for new folks, I guess.”, she said.

“What do you mean?”, you asked.

“Oh we don’t get many visitors around here, and today there were two! You, obviously, and my friend saw a mandalorian this morning!”, she said.

“Oh really.”, you said with a smile.

“Yeah I heard he was looking for a bounty. Not sure how much luck he’ll have though. I bet he was after that one guy who came through about a week ago. He was the nasty sort. He stuck around for a bit but left yesterday. Not sure where he went.”, she said.

“Oh interesting. Maybe he will catch him. You never know with those bounty hunters.”, you responded.

“True! I’ve never met a mandalorian before. I’ve heard they’re real good at fightin’ and killin’. My friend said he was covered in that metal...what’s it called?”, she said trailing off.

“Bescar.”, you supplied.

“Oh that’s right!”, she said. “I heard he looked pretty intimidatin’. You ever met a mandalorian before?”, she asked.

“One. He was very kind.”, you said with a small smile at your own inside joke.

“Really? Well I’m surprised. I wouldn’t assume a warrior like that would be very personable.”, she said.

You laughed and said, “I said kind, I didn’t say he was talkative.”

She smiled at you then said,“You have everything you need?”

“Yes thank you.”, you replied with a warm smile.

“I forgot to ask you what you were doin’ in town.”, she said.

“Oh just making a quick stop to do some repairs.”, you replied.

“Oh good, well I’m glad I had what you needed. Are you alone?”, she asked.

“Um…”, you said.

“I only ask ’cause it’s not very safe around here after dark. Lots of creatures out there in the sand. I thought you might have someone with you considering…”, she pointed to the side of her neck and looked at you pointedly.

You slapped a hand to your neck covering the marks Din had left on you and blushed deeply.

“Uh yeah...I um...my…”, you didn’t know what to call him. The two of you had yet to define things. Calling the mandalorian your boyfriend seemed too entirely too juvenile for the bescar clad bounty hunter. But you didn’t know if you should call him your soulmate since the two of you hadn’t talked about it yet.

“I’m with someone, yeah. And I’m pretty good at taking care of myself”, you finally stuttered out lamely.

“Good. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to someone so sweet. Oh and watch out for those Jawas! They’ll scavenge anything.”, she said.

You nodded and thanked her again before leaving the shop.

The trek back to the razorcrest was slower with all of your supplies in tow. You mentally cursed the sand, the heat, and Tatooine nearly the whole way back.

You hated Tatooine, always had. You’d gotten yourself into some trouble at Jabba the Hutt’s palace once. You were grateful you were on the other side of the planet.

Things didn’t improve much when the razorcrest came into view and you saw it was surrounded by Jawas.

“Hey!”, you yelled, running towards them.

You heard them speak to each other and presumably you but you had no idea what they were saying.

You reached them and pulled out your blaster and said, “Get out of here and leave anything you tried to take.”

They started laughing at you and you shot near the closest one’s feet to give them a scare. It jumped into the air and dropped what it was holding.

“I’m not going to say it again. Drop what you took and get out of here or I’ll start dropping bodies.”, you said angrily.

They stared at you so you started shooting again. This time they listened and dropped the parts they had and started running.

With enough blaster shots they were finally gone.

You took a deep breath when they were no longer in view, feeling the sweat drip down your back. You hated Jawas.

You were lucky you got there when you did. It seemed like the Jawas had just started their scavenging. It was still going to take you a while to fix everything.

You worked until it was too dark to see and you figured you could finish it by the end of the next day if you got up when the sun did.

You sat on the ramp of the ship and ate while staring into the horizon. You were exhausted but proud of what you accomplished. You definitely earned your keep today.

You brought everything into the crest then closed the ramp behind you, secure in knowing you were safe for the night. You tumbled into Din’s bed and swiftly fell asleep with his scent surrounding you.

“Cyar’ika”, you heard Din’s voice say in your head, waking you up.

“Din?”, you said out loud before realizing you had heard him in your head.

You focused on him and the connection between you and said his name again.

“Hello”, he responded.

“Hi”, you said back.

“I missed your voice.”, he said and your heart warmed.

“I missed your voice too.”, you said. “How are we doing this?”

“The same way you did last time I suppose, just focusing on each other.”, he said.

“Yeah. It’s crazy though.”, you said.

“Mmhmm”, was his response.

“How’s the bounty hunting going?”, you asked.

“It could be worse. I’m hoping to be back by tonight.”, he said.

“Tonight? What time is it?”, you asked.

“Dawn. Did I wake you?”, he asked.

“Oh yeah. It’s fine, I needed to get up anyway.”, you said. You were still laying in his bunk, wishing he was there with you.

“How’s the crest?”, he asked.

You sighed then said, “Um…so here’s the thing. When I went to get the parts I needed, Jawas found the ship…”

He cursed but allowed you to continue.

“I scared them off and they didn’t take anything. But they did take some parts off of the ship so I’m working on fixing it. I should be done by tonight though.”, you said.

“I hate Jawas.”, he said.

You laughed and said, “Me too.”

You heard him chuckle them say, “It sounds like you had an eventful day.” You had never heard his laugh inside your head before. You wondered if he didn’t laugh much before you came around and the thought made you sad.

“Probably not as eventful as yours.”, you said.

“Pretty close.”, he said and you could hear the amusement in his voice. “I have to go cyar’ika. I’ll see you soon.”

“See you soon Din.”, you said and the connection quieted. You smiled, touched that he would reach out to talk with you while he was gone just because he missed you.

Communicating with each other like that was difficult. It took a lot of mental energy, but you couldn’t go back to sleep. You forced yourself to get up and start the day’s work so the ship could be ready when Din got back.

It was another long day in the heat and sand but as time passed you made significant progress and the razorcrest was beginning to look normal again.

It was a peaceful day, no Jawas showed up and before you knew it the sun was going down again. You finished up and surveyed the crest feeling proud of yourself. You did it. You fixed everything, and in only two days which was a feat in and of itself.

You showered, happy to rid yourself of the sand and sweat, and then ate before finding yourself sitting on the ramp staring into the horizon again.

You knew you needed to talk things through with Din. You weren’t exactly sure how he felt, but you knew most of the apprehension about being soulmates came from you. Now that you knew him better and felt more comfortable, you felt more ready to accept it. You knew you were falling in love with him and wondered if he felt the same.

You were insecure about it, but his actions showed you time and time again that he cared. You knew it was fast, but you were ready to be with him fully and forever. You resolved to tell him how you felt the next time you saw him, no matter how uncomfortable being that vulnerable made you. With that resolution in mind, you looked up and saw him on the horizon walking towards you.

𝐈𝐈 .  𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝  :

       from the second she was born , georgia was treated as her mother’s little doll. diane had been ecstatic the day she found out she was with child for the second time , and even more ecstatic to find out she would be having their first little girl. she was dressed up in pink dresses and frilly socks , shown off to all of the women country or her mother’s weekly book club nights. she was the apple of her parent’s eyes , until she wasn’t. with brunette tresses  &  honey brown eyes , georgia was adored by everyone .... her beauty noted with claims that she would grow up to be a heartbreaker. her mother thrived on the compliments ; the subtle reminders to what her own childhood had been like. she had always planned on having a little girl that she could do pageants with just like she had with her own mother , and darling little georgia was perfect for that. at such a young age , georgia fell in love with the pageants. she thrived in the spotlight , with all eyes on her. and just like her mother , she won every competion she was entered in , until she didn’t. by the age of nine , georgia was starting to grow bored of the constant pageants and recitals , wanting to explore other interests. by that point , diane’s interest in her had worn off and moved onto the next child , a five year old with beautiful blonde curls and dimpled cheeks. georgia grew to know the subtle ache of rejection , and from that day forward , did everything she could to win back her mother’s affection. 

      from the outside , the calloway’s came off as the picture perfect family. but from the inside ? things were quite the opposite. georgia’s parents had unmeetable expectations for their children. get perfect grades , nothing below a b acceptable. sit down , look pretty , and shut up. don’t cause a scandal. their love was entirely conditional , only being shown when their was something they believed deserved rewarding. if you were to ask georgia , she wouldn’t be able to tell you the last time her mother actually hugged her for genuine reasons , and not to manipulate her into doing what she wanted. their father was rarely home , always away working or traveling for work. it became obvious that he was having an affair –– multiple affairs , but diane just looked the other way. the calloway family was very prominent in charleston , especially with her father being elected mayor , and their was nothing that diane would allow to ruin their image. even if it cost her own happiness.

       things got considerably more difficult around the calloway home when georgia was sixteen. her eldest brother had gone out for a night of fun with a group of friends , and made the fatal mistake of getting into a car with someone who was far too drunk to drive. georgia will never forget the conversation she overheard from the living room that night ; “ they were drunk. lost control of the vehicle. died on impact. ” it tore the family apart , dividing them even more than they already were. georgia couldn’t stand the silence of her home after her brother’s death. so she started partying constantly , going on 48 hour benders and staying out long past her curfew. she couldn’t even recognize herself in the mirror. gone was their innocent little girl , the apple of their eyes. even this couldn’t get the attention of her parents , they barely even noticed she was gone most of the time ; all they did was yell at her to not make them look like fools. 

        for her whole life , georgia followed her parent’s rules. after graduating high school , she was expected required to go college and get a degree , but georgia just couldn’t be bothered. this is the one time she went against her parent’s wishes. her fear of being stuck here forever , with the same life as her parents ; a husband that doesn’t love her and miserable children , won out over the need for approval from her parents. so she ran off to la , and landed herself on love island usa after being approached by a producer. georgia is reality tv gold , and quickly became a fan favorite. her most memorable moment being after she got her heart broken on live tv , when she purposely held up a lighter to set off fire alarms ; and then laid on the ground getting drenched by the sprinklers. so now she’s single again after being made a fool of in front of the world , back home with parents that hate her for bringing them unwanted attention , and stuck in the city she tried to get away from. but , she’s got a podcast. it’s called the bimbo summit and it’s pretty much the only thing bringing her joy right now. it started as a way for her to expose some behind the scenes shit from love island , but now it’s just for fun. 

𝐈𝐈𝐈 .  𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲  :

georgia is the girl that’s not easy to forget. she’s outgoing and amiable , but stubborn and not easy to push over. she was the one that moms would warn their kids to stay away from in high school ; she leaves a trail of destruction wherever she goes , no matter how hard she tries not to. she has the purest of intentions , genuinely just wanting love  &  happiness for herself and everyone around her , but it seems like the universe has different plans. 

she almost has this air of melancholy surrounding her ? like even when she’s happy and smiling , you can still sense it or see in her eyes that she’s not truly happy 

very charismatic , she’s a major people pleaser so she’ll put everyone else’s feelings before her own . she just wants everyone to be happy even if it means she ends up being miserable . 

georgia’s a selective oversharer . she’ll tell you all these useless little facts so you think she’s opening up when in reality you don’t truly know her because she refuses to talk about the things that matter . 

she’s trusting once she gets to know someone , but if you break that trust even once she’s not very quick to forgive. she’ll hear you out , but it’s unlikely that she’ll ever let you back in. 

she is completely unhinged. somehow picks the worst possible decision every time a problem arises. she’s not much of a logical thinker , and tends to let her heart make decisions for her. it’s gotten her into a world of trouble one too many times , and yet she’s never learnt her lesson. 

she’s also a serial dater. in her pea brain attention = love so she’ll flock to wherever she gets that. she likes the validation of relationships but hates the commitment , so pretty much all of her relationships end before they ever really start. 

don’t ever tell georgia she can’t do something. she’s a stubborn bitch and she’ll either do it immediately just to spite you or dedicate her entire life to proving you wrong and that’s not something anyone needs to deal with.

very opinionated and not afraid to make sure you know !! she will stand up for what she’s believes in without even a second of hesitation.

she would not be caught dead looking unpresentable .... she’ll do her hair and a full face of make up even if she’s waking up at 4am. and don’t even bother to ask her to go out after she’s done her skin care routine .... there’s no chance 

doesn’t really know how to handle her emotions ? so when she’s hurt she tends to just .... shut down & push everyone away 

she is a hardcore adrenaline junkie , she does so much stupid shit just for the thrill. making spontaneous and impulsive decisions is her favorite pass time.  she just holds a lot of emotion in , so anything that will release all of that or make her feel anything other than the things she’s avoiding are very much welcomed.
