The Percy Jackson Series on Disney +, is definitely top tier. (Yes, I know there are some major/minor changes from the books.) However, they still stay close to the characters and to me that's important. Like in the most recent episode.

Yes, Percy is a Seaweed Brain. That doesn't make him dumb! And think that was my favorite part of the episode. Seeing him connect all the dots!

My second favorite was the flashbacks. The moments we got to see Sally stress and worry and silently beg- but still do the hardest thing. Watching baby Percy be disgruntled and think his mom hates him. Seeing Poseidon comes when Sally called. She needed reassurance that what she was doing was right.

Not to mention Grover and Annabeth- and just how much they rely on each other. That getting his mom back is the most important thing and Annabeth telling them to leave to get to his mom. Percy stopping Grover from falling to Kronos.

Gah! I can't wait for the last episode!

Lucy Chen and Nyla Harper y’all

We as a society must absolutely discuss what I think is the absolutely amazing mentorship/friendship between Detective Nyla Harper and Officer Lucy Chen. From the first time they teamed up, yes Nyla was harsh but she saw something in Lucy that she figured was worth pursuing. Because she was right when she pointed out there were things that Tim simply couldn’t teach her (he just didn’t have the insight to *do* that). Then once she saw just how good Lucy was, she had *faith* in her. She was the first to absolutely sound the alarm to Grey when Lucy was missing, and had faith that Lucy was absolutely fighting.

AND THEN AFTER Sharing her own trauma with Lucy, because once again it was an experience that she could *empathize* with. Nyla understands Lucy in a way that no one else in her life really does.

And then Nyla sees Lucy get into UC. Nyla knows what it’s like to *love* being undercover, to know how useful undercover is. But she also knows being undercover can ruin your life. It ruined *her* life. But I think she also knows that Lucy getting into UC without a mentor or lifeline (especially with Tim’s hang ups) is not great. So she takes Lucy under her wing, she teaches exactly how awful UC can be, but also how *good* Lucy is at it.

The first person Lucy goes to when she’s conflicted about UC school is Nyla. Nyla was the person to Lucy aside and point out that everyone in the station respected the hell out of Lucy, she just needed to ask. Nyla has always had Lucy’s back. She also does a temp check on Lucy when Isabel comes back! She knows Lucy has no reason to feel jealous but she’s still her friend and she’s checking in. Nyla Harper and Lucy Chen y’all. I love them.

For all it’s flaws, I genuinely think the Rookie writes some excellent female dynamics and friendships. I have many feelings.
