Be careful what you wish for.
Sometimes the universe listens like a child does to her parent.
Too intently.
Absorbing
Absorbing
Absorbing
Till it is ready to burst.
And the alchemy of that caos is what makes the worst version of our best wish come true.

The Girl and the Goddess - Nikita Gill
Older generations right now value blood over anything else. “You can forgive your family no matter what.” And you can make that argument that “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.”
However, sometimes, I’ve noticed that in self-help culture, people will cut others out without talking about it first, or setting boundaries, or coming to a healthy compromise. Family or not.
My point here is that, family is anyone you love.
Personally, if I love you, you are a part of my family. No questions asked. No hoops to jump through. I’ve never bought into the “blood family first” attitude, and I don’t cut someone else unless I don’t have any other choice. Do I have my troubles with other people?
Bruh, absolutely.
But there are two truths here: sometimes, you can work it out with other people who have hurt you. But you can absolutely have mixed feelings for the people you love.
If you need to cut them out, that doesn’t mean you love them any less.
I’m learning that myself. I’m also learning that sometimes, it can be worth letting people back in. Especially if they’ve shown their worth it.

I love this book. The poetry is just so simple, honest, vulnerable, and human. I can’t wait to read more of it.
Today is the first day of me investing in only my self and my daughter. A fresh new life of freedom after watching they things I’ve work so hard to build are just crumbling.
