sylvia plath, todd anderson and virginia woolf (aka ACTUAL tortured poets) watching taylor “im breaking up with my boyfriend for his intense depression and blaming it on him, im dating a racist who enjoys watching woc being brutalized and harasses young woc artists, i sent my fans out on a hate train to attack a young woc actress for a line she had to say as part of her job to show how mentally ill her character was, im dating a maga supporter, i refuse to say anything about a current genocide despite being the most influential person in the world right now, i am a billionaire, i fly 13 minute flights and have the highest carbon emission of any celebrity, i am a known white feminist who only speaks about issues when it affects me and has constantly let my fans get away with extreme racism and even encouraged it by associating myself with known racists” swift call herself a tortured poet (her writing sounds like a bunch of thesaurus words slapped over gabba hanna and rupi kaur-esque poetry that was created purely as a trinket for an edgy pinterest board)

I find it kind of silly that so many of those "time based life rule" sayings are like ~deep serious guidelines~ of some sort, but then there's that one other Well Known Rule that's just like "hrmm can I eat something off of the ground or not"
#the duality of human condition.. two biggest concerns in the modern era are attempts at self fulfilling productivity#and also 'if i drop my sandwich can i still eat it :('#Also while capitalism is often linked with/the source of hyper productivity culture - note that I do not mean the images in that context#'meaningful to you' does not have to mean 'productive within a capitalist system'. The point is not 'every waking hour of every day#must be spent in the most societally productive grinding mindset hyper efficency mode possible' but more like#if you've always wanted to learn french ever since you were a kid and you think it would be fulfilling to you (just because you like it#absent of any larger purpose like using it for a job/monetizing it somehow/etc.). and you've just spent like 5 hours straight on tiktok#or something mindlessly scrolling the internet. maybe someimtes it'd help for your own personal fulfillment in the long#run to try to - the next time you have 5 spare hours - work on learning french or something that is actually significant to you#as a person and that you'll be glad you worked towards. instead of weeks and weeks passing by and feeling you have nothing to show for it#or etc. AAANYWAY. The images/rules themselves are also NOT the main point of this post. More just the juxtaposition of them together#and the fact that 3 of them are serious seeming while one is so mundane it seems silly in comparison.#BUT even though they're not the main point . I still didn't want it to come across as if I was like promoting or buying into capitalist#productivity culture propaganda or etc. I don't find productivity tips like this inherently bad as long as they're kind of divorced from#those ideas. I think it's still important in life to have goals even if those goals exist outside of the typical expected framework.#I mean that's actually part of why a culture of chronically exhausted overworked deprived people is damaging because if you#'re forced to spend 85% of your waking time working at some job that is perosnally meaningless to you that brings you nothing that#youre only doing under threat of starvation and houselesness and etc. then of course you don't have much time for hobbies or things you car#about and of course you'll feel more aimless and personally unsatisfied and like life is not fulfilling or interesting.#Productivity and efficiency is GOOD actually. as long as it's able to be directed in ways that are actually meaingful to the community or#individual and bring some sort of feeling of fulfillment or progress or accomplishment and working towards a person's personal ideas#of happiness whatever those are. rather than just working away aimlessly so some guy you don't know can buy a 20th house or etc. etc.#ANYWAY.. lol.. Me overthinking things perhaps.. probably not as likely#that people see the silly little cat images and go 'WOW EVIL you must be a capitalist grind culture lover' like its pretty clear#thats not the point... but... just in case... lol.. I loooove to over clarify things that don't actually need clarification

And maybe i'm getting older, but I heard the opening lines "You're gonna get a wrinkle on your forhead. You're gonna get a click in your knee" and went "promise ?🥺"

tbqh it's weird as hell to me that there's this given understanding about fictional aliens that they'd be surprised or confused by adaptability, but like, as far as we know and understand that is a fundamental quality of life itself not life on earth. In order to become a spacefaring species any spacefaring alien would've had to survive whatever space threw at them for billions of years as well as whatever their planet in specific threw at them, even the 'good' planet we know about is pretty fucking hostile to life. It's just implausible to me that like, among all the possible sapient species we'd be unique or interesting for the level to which we have the ability to adapt to situations, something that any biological creature of any origin would also need to survive long enough as a species to figure out how space works.

for real though that post is so true on the love front i think about it all the time like why is everyone so LOVELESS not even just in like cishetero marriages where they hate each other just in general like platonic too. it drives me craaazy when im exposed to it like why are ppl like this !! why dont you love your friends and partner!! its like everything is a social game that theyre playing just for validation and lacking real connection and its a game where theyre always about 2 steps away from being bitter and hateful towards their friends/lover like STOOOOP! im someone who values love and kindness so much and it baffles me. why do you hate your partner! why do you talk about them like theyre an object of validation! why are you dating someone you clearly dislike! why are u so mean to ur friends behind their backs im cryin. why do you up and abandon them the second you get a partner bc you dont value them over the romantic validation you get. ive always been such an affectionate person at heart and i value what my friends say so much and i always find myself feeling so distant from people in relationships because they just feel?? so shallow?? and distant from me. like i think oh this preson gets me but theres ppl who say the same things how they value kindness and love but its always like, immediately clear they are actually a deeply mean person and just enjoy feeling like theyre 'good'. the way society functions with relationships feels so intensely shallow and i cannot connect to it at all. i love my friends and i love people and i always want to understand them and reach out with compassion and be close to them physically and emotionally speaking and talk a lot and listen to them. however im cursed to live in a world of 1 word responses if any at all and shallow relationships where no one gaf about each other and then i get told i talk too much. hello? *tapping mic* hello? is this thing on? be filled with whimsy and love going forward please. anyway does anyone else feel this way or is it just me feel free to talk about it if youd like

HANDS. is your love language touch? i suppose it might not be, but i also suppose you might just like being held. you might see the art in human bodies. art reference: loneliness of night by kaye donachie

SNOWY TOWNS. you have the ability to see the greatness in the mundane, and it's beautiful. you would just like to live your life, and love all its things. art reference: it snows oh it snows by grandma moses
BROTHER OSWIN (D&D)
BLOOD IN RELIGIOUS DEPICTIONS. you think in violence, but not necessarily antagonism or hatred. it is more just in the physicality, the vulnerability of it all. art reference: prometheus bound by peter paul rubens

with the disclaimer that i am definitely prone to negative thinking and that i don’t have a super wide social circle so i haven’t, of course, observed what it’s like for a ton of kids and younger people these days!--
does anyone else just .......... yearn for a time when the internet wasn’t so everywhere?
in particular, i feel sad for kids, because screens are like having ten thousand pieces of candy in front of you at every second. like, how do you resist the lure? how can you NOT want it? how can you not get addicted?? it’s shiny infinite entertainment! but then everything you do is filtered through this device. (this is where i’m gonna get really judgy in a way that’s maybe over-simplistic and too negative. i know there are tons of benefits to the internet and all the information and content we have access to today! i’m just not talking about those in this post.) like, what chance do the old activities have, like doing art or playing board games or reading physical books or going outside or doing science experiments or even just watching a handful of movies over and over because those were the only options you had in your at-home video library?? (as opposed to youtube throwing endless content at young viewers via algorithm.) or even just sitting around being bored, with naught but your own thoughts???
i also find it wild that it’s so expected that from a very young age everyone in your family has this extremely expensive technological device. (like, i feel like my parents definitely would not have been willing to buy me a hundreds-of-dollars mini-computer to carry around all the time that could’ve easily gotten broken ... but it was such a different time, this being the norm would have been unimaginable!) is it hard to opt out of smart phone culture for kids? is it even acceptable to be like “my kid isn’t going to have a smartphone/ipad/whatever until high school” anymore?
i’m just really feeling the pressure of there being infinite options for screen entertainment at every moment. it has REALLY scrambled my brains as a 30-something adult. so it makes me really curious how it feels to grow up in that environment without having ever experienced what it was like before, when your options were still plentiful (”having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card!”) but much, much, much more limited. i kinda feel like you could get deeper and more profound enjoyment out of things just because there wasn’t a part of you always wondering “okay, what next?” that could be instantly gratified.
but again! i am definitely old-man-yells-at-clouds as my default setting, and therefore prone to complaining about the age of technological marvels we are living in. still ... omg, i’m so tired. i’m just really curious about whether something truly has been lost, or if that’s just how i feel because i’m nostalgic for how it was when i was younger and the internet was way more niche and one part of life that it was easy to put down and walk away from rather than EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME.

so within the last several sessions in Melliwyk's campaign we've learned that 1) the sorcerer king, our mysterious and as-yet unseen bbeg who has been functionally immortal for thousands of years by secretly moving his soul from body to body, currently IS in fact our more immediate and personal villain, the fighter's mother, whom our fighter remembers as having been a normal loving mother prior to a heelturn in her backstory; 2) some of the stuff Mel stole from her private workshop included personal journals from her early life, which reveal the story of an unusually talented young woman who was manipulated into pursuing necromancy and high level government work over her other arcane interests, apparently with the intention of grooming her as the sorcerer king's latest vessel; 3) there is a brief mention during her school years of her hearing about a particularly gifted gnome girl in the artificing track, and hoping they might get to be classmates
doylist reason the sorcerer king didn't even try to single out melliwyk as a possible future vessel: scarlet is an NPC whose concept fit into the sorcerer king story, while melliwyk is a player character who has nothing to do with any of that
watsonion reason: sorcerer king is gnome racist

For those who need to hear it…
Writing incredibly close, loving, intimate friendships between people of the same sex is not queerbaiting.
You are 100% allowed to ship it (I almost always do myself), but the writers/actors/directors etc are not queerbaiting by writing intimate platonic relationships.

i know there are people out there who didn't like chainsaw man's character design because they feel that most of them are boring but personally i think those are ultimately balanced out by the sheer weird designs of the devils
also the mundanity of the human characters' design helps in making the world feel more realistic and believable, because i don't think i can take the story seriously if denji had some gravity defying hairstyle lmao
