Jack shook his head in disbelief, and then shook it towards the moon. "That's it. I've had it! I've had it with your silence, and I've had it with everybody and their mother giving me the cold shoulder!" He ran a hand through his hair, scoffing again. "I mean, what's it gonna take?!"

Frost began to count off from his free left hand. "I've started snowball fights, not that they ever let me in on them considering I'm invisible! I've even frosted some windows over to write them messages, and lemme tell ya, those were not the reactions I was hopin' for!"

"I mean, what do I gotta do, huh?!" he groaned, throwing his arms up into the air. "Do I actually have to spell it out for them, o-or sing it out loud to get them to hear me?!"

He was grimacing when he said this. But as the words registered in his head, his expression became pensive as he considered his remark.

In truth... he hadn't tried that.

Jack rubbed his chin in thought as he pondered this new development, his eyes darting left and right like clockwork. Was he really that desperate? Would he really stoop so low? Debase himself in such a way?

...It turned out that yes. Jack was that desperate.

Been mulling over this ever since Disney released the song weeks ago. Figured I'd try my hand at a Jack Frost version, and I definitely love how it turned out. Might even add it to my fic, hence why I added some passages of it before the song.

Also added to the chorus, putting in extra lines. This was inspired by the Booth To Screen video of This Is The Thanks I Get?! where it ends with Chris Pine singing the whole first chorus before ending with how he harmonizes in the third line of the 2nd and last choruses. So in this version there is a bit of a pause between verses. Look it up on YouTube, and you guys will see what I mean.

Keep in mind, Jack's mentality here is "This Is The Thanks I Get for thinking today's gonna be any different than yesterday." This is set during his 300 years of isolation, so again, he's trying all sorts of things to get seen. The spectrum is far more different then the villainous version depicted by King Magnifico. There are points in the song, especially the middle where Jack loses his cool. Though not shown in these lyrics, I’m the story setting, he’s gonna try to calm himself down, which is mostly what he’s struggling with in during the Bridge. Whereas Magnifico doesn’t, gets himself continuously worked up before he does something he can’t take back.

Another example of the difference between the two is at the end when, instead of screaming in rage like the king, Jack just reins it in, and just sings the last verse.

Long story short: both characters allow themselves to go insane here. Difference here is Jack remembered to make sure he came back. Magnifico didn’t.

Either way, the song's extremely catchy, and I can find myself singing to either version. Hope you guys enjoyed reading or singing it in your head.

PS: for those wondering, the Sven Jack mentioned in the song is Sven the Reindeer from Frozen. 😉

The Guardians: Pitch Black's Final Fate

SPOILER ALERT for Pitch's last moments in the final book of the Guardians of Childhood series.

Extracted from Jack Frost: The End Becomes the Beginning

With a sharp pull, Jack took the diamond dagger from his wounded hand. He gently placed that hand on Pitch’s chest, just over his heart. Then he raised the dagger. For a moment it seemed he would stab Pitch, kill him, but he paused. As he held the dagger aloft, it seemed to melt—it was melting!—turning back into tears. Pitch’s tears. They dripped slowly but steadily, landing on Jack’s scarred hand.

The wound healed. No sign of it could be seen. The dagger dissolved completely. Even the jewels from Nightlight’s uniform became liquid and seeped away.

Every teardrop that ran from Jack’s hand began to soak into Pitch’s chest. As the last drops vanished, so did Pitch. Or at least what Pitch had become. As the Guardians’ greatest enemy lay in front of them, a great transformation occurred. The twisted grimace and sickly pallor of his face softened and smoothed, and for the first time since the Golden Age, the face of Kozmotis Pitchiner, Lord High General of the Galaxies, Tsar Lunanoff’s first in command, was looked upon by the one person who loved him. Emily Jane leaned close to her father's face.

By now Katherine had come down from the castle and stood silently behind Jack. The Guardians together gazed at their fallen foe with a quiet reverence.

Sandy and Bunnymund were the first to kneel, their heads bowed. They had both known Pitch when he had been Lord Pitchiner.

Sandy had served under him before the dark days of the Nightmares and had worshipped the once-noble commander. Sandmen cannot cry, but Sandy looked as if he might.

“From what I know of humans and men,” Bunnymund said solemnly, “he was, before his darkening, a man of greatness.”

“Brave. Honorable. Selfless,” whispered Emily Jane, blinking back tears.

“Then he deserves our respect,” said North as he too dropped to one knee. As did the gathered armies; every Yeti, werewolf, fairy, Warrior Egg, squirrel, and bug. They kneeled in tribute to their ancient enemy. He was an enemy no more. Their war had saved him. The Nightmare King was gone. His hate and hurt were gone.

Jack’s snow was still falling, but not a flake touched Lord Pitchiner.

“I did my best for him,” Jack said quietly to Emily Jane.

She gave a slight smile. “You kept your promise.”

My current fic I’m working on is a Hijack fic. 

There are still most elements I’m missing though. Cuz I keep launching questions at myself that I have to figure out to answer. 

Standing premise being that Jack gets turned into a human by Pitch. So it’ll be a modern day AU. Then the Guardians believing Pitch will hunt him down as now a vulnerable human, they hide him. But suggested being a secluded island in an archipelago in the Nordic regions. 

Then it’s another trial of getting Jack to go to school. Their reasoning being that so he actually has some human interaction. Like hey, while they’re trying to figure out how to return him to a Guardian he gets to relish in actually being seen. Another reasoning being that if Jack stays alone, in fear of being found, Pitch will find him all the more quickly. Being in school and interacting with other teenagers would mean he’s distracted, and hopefully keeps him happy. 

However there remains of okay while Jack is doing this, what are the Guardians doing? Pitch obviously did it to Jack for a reason to have him out of the way. But what? Then also, would Jack have learned how to read? Like, what extent did he go to try to have kids believe in him? 

Sure he is the one of the Guardians who has spent the most time around children, but how in touch is he?

I also, want to have Hiccup be able to see Pitch. But it really just makes me think, what do I need to have happened to him that he can still see the embodiment of fear even as a teenager?

Nevertheless, I need to be faster at finishing this outline so I can actually start writing it.

10 years ago today, I went to see an animated movie that truly touched and inspired me. It focused on themes of selfless sacrifice, overcoming fears, and belief: belief in yourself and in wonder, hopes, and dreams. I joined a fandom, made memories, got a tattoo, and continued to adore the characters and themes.

I’d like to wish a very special 10th anniversary to Rise of the Guardians and thank Mr. William Joyce for creating this beloved world that has meant so much to so many people, all because his daughter once asked if Santa knew the Tooth Fairy.
