oh man. this is extremely disappointing, to put it lightly. i never really kept up with the workings of rusty quill itself, so i apologize now to anyone who got into the magnus archives because of me and decided to support rusty quill financially as a result when it appears that at the very least they've been very incompetent with how they manage their company and treated their staff unacceptably. if i'd been aware of this, i would have tried to make people aware of what they were potentially getting into. i'll definitely have to think hard about whether i want to engage with the planned magnus protocol sequel at all (even through piracy or something), let alone talk about it on my blog :/

Howdy, I'm still alive. Not many drawings lately, but a lot of ling fun time. I just wanted to share my crafts hehe

My niece had fun playing with the ling plushies, I taught her about the goolings, and she drew Wiwi a couple times. I made her a Wiwi plushie and I'm gonna make a Lewling and a Hoardling too since she really wants her own. Makes me happy. That's what they're made for to make folks happy.

reading the novel, i love how blatantly indulgent of the juniors lan wangji is. when he was their age, he was duelling wei wuxian over broken rules and lived his life by behaving as precisely as what was expected of him, and now as an adult, he's basically letting the juniors do whatever they want as long as it isn't unsafe and generally letting the kids act like kids

which leaves wei wuxian to have to be the one playing bad cop. wei "has never followed anyone else's rules in his life" "bane of lan qiren's existence" "public enemy number one" wuxian has to be the one being like "oh my god don't burn money on someone else's doorstep, don't you know that's rude. you kids need to focus on your studies more, why isn't anyone teaching you anything useful, do i have to do everything myself around here"

There is something to be said for the period in early season 3 that Don E is working for Angus and becomes more and more disillusioned because Angus (surprise, surprise) treats him with extreme condescension, bosses him around, insults him etc. and favours another lackey (Dino) over him. But the irony is, the way Angus treats Don E in those episodes is not so different from the way we see Blaine treat most of his employees.

It's just that with Blaine, Don E is the exception to this treatment because he's his special little guy who gets away with treason and gets included in his plans etc. But here he is getting treated like the others.

I think maybe after their initial run through and victory Neil and Andrew are like absolute fan favorites and even though Neil, Andrew, nor the show ever say it there is a general belief that Neil and Andrew got together BECAUSE of the show. Any follow-up publicity on it has Neil and Andrew just staring at the camera like "Are u for fucking real?"

The thing with these shows is that fan favorites get asked to go back ALL the time and Neil gets a lot of very lucrative sponsorships that make the Moriyamas VERY happy after it.

They offer the same deal, a cut on the % that they will take from earnings and this time it's just for competing and this time it's a deal given to. They want the Miracle Generation of the Foxes to come and if every one does then Ichirou will lower Neil, Jean, and Kevin's %s owed to 50% (Maybe the deals are that good, maybe Ichirou is a big fan of the show, maybe he has a finger in it's production. This is mostly just like rationale on why the fuck they'd all do this. Especially Neil and Andrew since like Andrew had a bad time on those planes).

what you’ve got to understand about working conditions in education (and also other care-oriented careers) is that if they’re shit, two things are true at once:

that does not ever excuse being cruel to a kid, no matter what

until those conditions are fixed, education will continue to suck absolute shit

this is because when working conditions for teachers are really bad, many of the good teachers who recognize when they are reaching a point where they can no longer be the sort of teacher the kids deserve due to burnout WILL quit. they will do the responsible thing and go away for their own sake and the sake of the kids. and you end up stuck w a combination of new teachers who are trying their best but won’t last long, burnt out teachers who are trying their best but have nothing left to give and therefore aren’t very effective at actually teaching, and cockroach shitheads who take out their misery on the kids.

we have all had terrible experiences with bad teachers, many of them flat out traumatic, but for fuck’s sake please try to look at the systemic underpinnings of the problem for one minute. spitefully declaring that teachers don’t deserve good working conditions or even the right to complain about bad working conditions because ms. whoever in 5th grade was a bitch is only going to create more of her. if you want good teachers then we need an education system they can survive in

hey guys if you get an ask directly asking you for donations because of some kind of emergency, usually medical, its probably a scam. you can check by going to their blog and scrolling back as far as you can, it LOOKS like a normal tumblr blog until you realize its only existed for like a few days max. you can also reverse search images or text from their "donation" posts and find a bunch of copies online. I know it feels icky to turn away someone who seems like they need help, but they are taking advantage of you and are trying to scam you for your money. people rarely send direct asks when they actually need donations.
