So I have a theory about why Inevitable is kinda like a medley of the musical and why Paul acts so differently around Emma during it, at least an in-universe explanation, not just “It’s end of the musical of course it’s a medley”
So the earliest thing hive mind Paul references is the coffee shop because it’s the first interaction between Paul and Emma that the hive mind experiences, they don’t bring up any interactions prior to that. the hive mind is just bringing up the times it saw the two of them together, it didn’t get the memories of Paul, otherwise it’d be mentioning all the personal conversations they had in an attempt to lure Emma to its side. Despite the hive mind very clearly getting the memories of Alice, otherwise it couldn’t have known about her feelings and experiences that she talked about in her song. I think the fact that Paul was so directly opposed to the idea of song and dance as a concept, not just the idea of the hive mind, made it harder for it to get into his brain and go directly against his most characteristic morals while also fighting the humanity in him. Also I think that more infected people equals more minds equals less control over specific individuals.
The hive mind has no idea what Paul and Emma’s relationship is like behind closed doors, it’s just throwing everything it’s see through the various infected until something sticks. And because it’s only seen the generally braver Paul(as brave as Paul can be) when he’s defending his friends or trying to take down the core of the hive mind, it puppets him as far more charismatic and brave than he truly is.
So yeah, I don’t know why my brain spat this out, I usually only post art, but ya know ✨neurodivergent✨

We as a people do not put enough respect on Corey Dorris’s ability to go from the heart breaking

the possible future of the hatchetfield series: hatchetfield halloween party livestream full rundown
again apologies if someone has already done something like this, but I’m procrastinating doing my coursework and just want to talk about hatchetfield I want everyone to be aware of this exciting stuff that was announced in the stream so here you go:
the next starkid musical to be released will not be in the hatchetfield universe.
the guy who didn’t like musicals will soon be ready to license.
nightmare time 3 was originally planned to be released in the same year as nightmare time 2 and will wrap up the overarching nightmare time stories (which seem to be miss holloway and the foster sisters respectively).
if they did a fourth hatchetfield musical, it would be about miss holloway and her backstory. it is already written. I am very very extremely normal about this fact 😃
there is a possibility of a hatchetfield movie, and workin’ boys was sort of a test for this concept. it would be a slasher murder mystery centering around the hatchetfield community players (zoey chambers and the cast of workin’ girls, possibly also with ruth, hidgens, alice and any other theatre-oriented characters but that part’s just my speculation). the transcription of the teaser description can be found below the nmt descriptions.
ok so here are the transcriptions of the nmt3 episode descriptions:
Story #1: Bottle Imps
Bill Woodward has been chosen to test CCRP’s latest and greatest product; Bottle Imps. These reality-bending buddies will bring their owner the one thing they desire most. When his new imp, Lovely, leads him to his soulmate, Bill decides to use his magical companion to play matchmaker. But to help Charlotte find the man of her dreams, Bill will have to bend the Imp’s rules. Rules he’s been warned, must never be broken…
Story #2: Frankenruth
Desperate to see a naked body, Ruth Fleming and Richie Lipschitz volunteer at the morgue of St. Damien’s Hospital. Their terrible plan becomes exponentially more terrible, when they become unwitting subjects in the experiments of the body-snatching madman, Doctor Laszlo, who claims to have conquered death itself. If Hatchetfield thought Ruth was bad before, then they will cower before the unspeakable horror of… Frankenruth!
Story #3: Becky Barnes Climbed a Tree
Becky Barnes is on top of the world! Not in a literal sense, of course. She’s deathly afraid of heights. After years of struggle, Becky’s life is finally everything she dreamed it would be. She’s engaged to her high school sweetheart, Tom Houston, and the two have a surprise baby on the way! But, as the couple prepare for the arrival of baby Marie, a shadow from Becky’s past returns to haunt them.
Story #4: Devil’s Night
Tim Houston has a crush. Unfortunately, it’s on his older, mature and totally cool babysitter, Grace Chasity, who he fears will never see him as anything but a snot-nosed little kid. But when a devilish maniac with murderous designs on Grace attacks Hatchetfield the night before Halloween, Tim must protect his beloved, or join the killer’s growing body count. It’s another slashing adventure on the night HE came home… Devil’s Night.
Story #5: (long special episode) Miss Holloween
It’s Halloween in Hatchetfield once again, and Miss Holloway is celebrating the same way she’s done for decades, staving off the horrors that go bump in the night. But when Duke gives her an invitation to his wedding, the dejected Miss Holloway begins to chafe under the terms of a contract forged many years ago. She strikes a new bargain, but unfortunately her creditors are known for their tricks, not treats. Just as Miss Holloway gives up her powers in exchange for a mortal life, a monstrous new threat rears its ugly head. As All Hallows Eve descends, and all Hell breaks loose, Miss Holloway must save the town or die trying… for real this time.
Story #6: (long special episode / season finale) Orb Weaver
Lex Foster had a life once. A home. A boyfriend. Now there is only the road, and her sister, and the fear of the men who are hunting them. As Hannah Foster watched Lex sink deeper into despair, she is certain of only three things: Webby is gone. She cannot help them. They are alone. Elsewhere, an old soldier awakens from a catatonic state. Returned from some unimaginable Hell with a mission. He knows that somewhere, two magical girls require immediate evac… then maybe some coffee.
very important: if you want nightmare time 3, WATCH NIGHTMARE TIME 2. BUY A TICKET TO THE LIVESTREAM. SHOW THAT THERE IS LOVE AND DEMAND AND IT’S WORTH THEIR TIME AND MONEY I AM BEGGING YOU
hatchetfield movie: Cast Party Massacre
The Hatchetfield Community Players. You will never find a cattier troupe of two-faced thespians. But when the blood begins to flow at their latest show’s cast party, they must consider: is there a secret murderer in their midst? And more importantly, who amongst them is a good enough actor to pull off such a performance? Can they set aside their petty squabbles and tangled romances, or is it curtains for this ensemble? Who will survive… the Cast Party Massacre!

It always makes me so mad when people say the first time Paul sings is during Let It Out when he's trying to fight against the hive mind
But that's literally just not true
The first time Paul sings is when Professor Hidgens holds the group at gun point and shouts the iconic line of "SING THE BEGINNING OF MOANA!"
Sure, it's not great singing, but it's still technically singing. I mean, during Let It Out Paul is sing talking for most of it the same way he sang talk during the Moana song
"The first time Paul sings is when he's falling victim to the hive mind :( he's trying to save the earth and he fails :("
No bestie, the first time Paul sings is when he's forced to sing the opening to Moana, and also he's the one who remembers the lyrics better than anyone else despite saying he didn't like the movie
Like, even Bill ends up singing The Circle of Life, and Ted and Emma just follow Paul's lead.
Pauls, the guy who doesn't like musicals himself, first ever song is The Begining Of Moana

Paul Matthews and Other Hatchetfield headcanons we came up with on the chat
With: @astrolotte @sweetyeojinnie @halfwaytoqueens and
I loved these, so here they go
1. Paul and Richie are cousins, but since they have a big age gap, Richie considers him his uncle. This was inspired in the headcanon that Richie was Paul’s nephew, however, Paul is an only child in our minds cause it just FITS. Richie absolutely looks up to his uncle Paul 🥺
2. Which implies that Paul has come across Ruth at some point, and our gurl was horny for Paul. Paul is incredibly uncomfortable about this and doesn’t understand why this teen tries to cling into his arm, he grimaces and says stuff like: “Okay! Does anyone want coffee???! I’ll make some coffee.”
3. Also, just like Paul babysat Alice, Ted has asked Paul to babysit Pete. (Paul is an incredible uncle to every teen and child ok?!)
4. On the topic of Ted, we started thinking, what other characters went to abstinence camp on their time?? Paul. Absolutely he went. And he didn’t like it. But not because of the no sex part, he didn’t give a shit about that. He didn’t like it because of the music numbers and he hated making wallets.
5. Emma knows about Abstinence Camp (she didn’t go, but Jane, being the perfect daughter, went. Emma was like “fuck that”) and when she asks Paul about it (“no way! Fucking abstinence camp?! I hated those guys”) he goes: “Yeah, abstinence camp…i didn’t like it. You know? I did not care about the abstinence part, but they sang a lot…I don’t like musicals…They also made us make wallets and I didn’t like it”
6. So, with that in mind. Paul met Ted in abstinence camp. They never talk afterwards before arriving to CCRP. Paul remembers Ted, Ted doesn’t remember he already met Paul.
7. On the topic of Paul being Richie’s cousin/nephew, Paul talked to Richie’s parents to convince them they didn’t enroll Richie in freaking Sycamore: “trust me I KNOW you guys live like 5 minutes away from Sycamore but he would NOT want to go there”
Feel free to add more cause I love rotating my blorbos in my head ❤️

Bill invited Paul to Mamma Mia, and now we see he also tried to invite him to Workin’ Boys. Combined with Paul mentioning how he “had to see” Godspell, I think the issue here is that Bill keeps inviting him to musicals. Maybe he’d be chiller about disliking them if Bill stopped dragging him to the theater
