Steve really looked at these severely traumatized kids regularly giving him shit, threatening to prosecute him, dragging him into danger left and right and said:
'Yeah! Yeah, give me six of my own. I want to do this for the rest of my life.'
And I think that's beautiful.

Prompt 184
“Well damn.”
Jason wrenched his gaze from the mess of red and green spattered across the room, searching for the source of the voice. His head hurt, he wanted his Dad. He wanted Bruce. He… his head hurt. His everything hurt.
“Honestly, didn’t expect them to find another half-breed. Didn’t think there was another halfa out there…”
He tore his gaze away from the floor- when had it gotten there- finally finding the other… person? The person giving him an empty smile through some sort of muzzle and missing an entire arm. Well, he couldn’t judge, he’d torn his nails off while digging out of his grave before… this.
“Hey, kid, don’t sweat it, it’ll grow back,” the man apparently noticed where he was staring, shoulder twitching as he shrugged and more green pouring out. Jason couldn’t stop staring, eyes slipping from the growing pool to the rest of the chains apparently keeping the person on that side of the… room? Cage? Cell?
“Shit, hey, kid, kid, don’t cry, uh, fuck, shh, kid don’t cry-” the person made a noise, some sort of hum or croon that caused him to relax. To his already brain-damaged confusion. “C’mere, away from the door now, shh…”
Oh, when had he started to move? It was like he blinked and was stumbling away towards the chained person, practically tripping over a limb before the person managed to catch him. “Ope, oh you’re just a little baby-” a hand, clawed, carefully ran through his hair, tucking him against a rumbling chest that nearly made him tear up again. He wanted Bruce.
“It’s alright kid, shh, they won’t get you,” the man rumbled, everything about him green to his rapidly closing eyes. Pale skin like a corpse, black scales like rot, hair white like snow, all stained green with blood. “They’d have to kill me again for that.”

franky's backstory really does make me go crazy because he's cast away by his parents (implied to be because he's too much to handle) and he's left at water 7. he's taken in by a ragtag group --tom, kokoro, begrudgingly iceburg-- but he pushes back relentlessly against them. he tests their limits constantly to see how much they'll put up with. to see if they'll get rid of him too. keeps his distance. does his own thing. he wants to belong so badly!!! he wants a family!!! but he his first one already abandoned him. eventually he does give in, like a stray cat who keeps coming back for food but eventually lets themselves be pet. he helps with the sea train. he has fun. lets himself relax. but then its HIS creations that tear their family apart. he's done it again, its his fault, they let him get close and he hurt them. even without meaning to. tom dies. franky can't save him. he puts his body in front of a sea train, ready to die, and even death wouldn't come to him. he's left to rebuild his broken body (the body that wasn't enough to protect tom). kokoro becomes an alcoholic. iceburg becomes even more frigid. and franky stays. he stays in water 7. I know there's a level of guilt in this decision, but its also because he refuses to lose his brother the same way he lost tom. because he knows the day will come where the world govt decides to target iceburg. and he WILL be there. he even dedicates his life to the underground with a group of misfits (protecting it as well as running it) so he can know every face that comes in and out of the city. he will protect the ones he loves. I wonder if that's part of the reason he continues to modify himself. to rebuild parts of his body that failed him in the past. so that he's never left helpless when the people he cares for most need him. anyways

I'm just gonna say it again real quick:
Yes!! Iron Man is a tragedy! It has and always has been since the very first appearance in 1963 which describes itself, Tony's life, and legacy, as such.
Tony causes most of his issues himself, he is his biggest villain, a majority of his rogues gallery are caricatures of the worst versions of himself brought to life (when they're not just being racist cuz...60s...). The worst thing about being Tony Stark is that he can't stop being Tony Stark (he tried!!) That is the point.
The majority of pain Tony goes through, is pain he inflicts on himself, whether intentionally or inadvertently. That is the point.
He is not A villain (at least. Not usually. There are...some rough moments and arcs that are. Not great. As there is with any character as old as he is). But he is his own main antagonist.

okay but you know how you have to train puppies on how hard is too hard for biting when playing and how other dogs are really good at this???
this but with the witchers after their mutations
the trainers all pretend not to notice the boys goofing around with each other right after the trials bc it helps them learn "ooooooh if i hit like that now i'm gonna break something got it". it's like witcher socialization for the pups. you gotta let 'em playfight with each other before they go out in the world and accidentally rip off an alderman's arm while trying to shake their hand.
eskel and geralt had each other to learn with, even though geralt was painfully careful bc he didn't want to hurt anyone and knew his extra mutations made it even easier for him to do that. he was extra afraid to go near the stables for fear of hurting one of the horses just trying to do something like pet them. he and eskel spent a lot of time in the woods trying out their strength on trees.
when it came time to train lambert, everyone in the keep simultaneously broke out in a cold sweat.
