I really like Serena Joy’s arc this season, because her slow descent into Handmaid-status is cathartic to a point, but it’s never relished by the show, because we as the audience ARE meant to sympathise with Serena. She’s meant to show us that no one, no matter how heinous their crime, deserves what’s happening to her. That we can’t welcome a woman’s loss of personhood because she did awful things, because she did that exact thing to others. It’s not about Serena being redeemed (she isn’t, being a victim doesn’t absolve you of anything) or woobified, it’s about us as the audience (and June) recognising that our values apply to everyone, even that person you hate.

The bellarke-to-osblaine-pipeline ? oh my this is absolutely perfect !😅😅... we fell into it !

“The survival, the trauma, the heart, the head” omg you summed it up perfectly Stef 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Not to mention how devoted Nick is and how he refuses to let June go. Broke my heart when he said that he thinks he means nothing to her when that’s so clearly not the case (very Bellamy Blake of him).

I could go on and on about the parallels, my lord...the two of them talking about running away to Hawaii together instantly took me back to “Screw everyone else, let’s just go.” Also Nick’s “Freedom agrees with you” + Bell’s “Happiness looks good on you.” Nick looking out for Hannah + Bell keeping Madi safe. The cinematic Osblaine/Bellarke close up shots with the sun flaring behind them. Their little inside jokes and teasing banter. The comfort hugs. The reunions. The hand shots.

It also doesn’t hurt that both of them look so much like Bellamy and Clarke with their hair and coloring :)

Waiting for the last season to air is definitely going to feel painfully long—at least we know it won’t be anywhere near as disastrous as the colossal embarrassment that was s7.

Thoughts on the Handmaid’s Tale season finale:

- I can’t with Rose. so she told Nick off, good for her. But dumping him? This is Gilead. So he’s not in love with you, boo-hoo. how is this a reason to almost definitely marry some creep instead who’ll also probably get a handmaid if another pregnancy doesn’t happen fast. like?? not even Lawrence could stay single, her parents are influential but not enough that this is an option for her I’m PRETTY sure.

- no wtf even, I’d usually be more sympathetic but girl you live in an evil state and even if you think you can get a better husband, you will get a garbage human being. he will treat everyone else like dirt and women like animals. but hey :) priorities :) like really hope for her and her hypothetical moral compass that she changes her mind or was just trying to scare Nick, which I’d get. but did not feel like it and it’s hard for me to care about her feelings when I don’t exactly see her invested in the revolution

- both Luke and Nick really got to shine in this episode

- forever salty about the lack of screentime Moira gets and that she no longer gets time to process her own trauma. we constantly see her supporting June and the family and being the voice of reason, but why the heck does she need to have her shit together?? why are they doing more with June and Serena’s relationship than Moira and June’s?

- like the above looks extra bad with all those black women who are obedient servants this show has thrown at us. yeah avoid the angry black women stereotype I beg you but going the opposite direction is NOT BETTER

- I wanna see Janine and June go feral together.

- loved Luke and Nick getting to punch nasty white men but oof in Nick’s case it was maybe very short sighted considering he had a long time to think it through. does he have a plan especially now that Rose apparently dropped him

- I love seeing Lydia suffer

- haha did anyone really doubt Lawrence is an awful piece of work. can Nick fans leave Luke the heck alone now and go after him instead just wondering

- still baffled how people can go full on shipping war(? feels a bit one-sided for a shipping war) in this fandom. like how.

My thoughts on the new episode of The Handmaid's Tale.

I don't know what they're playing at with character X potentially going to NB. I know they have The Testaments in development, and character X can't go there because they need to be in C, unless they're throwing canon out the window for The Testaments. People are also saying that they're going to kill off character X. Again, unless they're throwing canon out the window for The Testaments, they literally can't.

Also, the thing that the Americans are planning for character Y isn't going to work. It's not, unless, again, they're throwing canon out the window for The Testaments.

Also, I have no clue what they're going to do with season 6. Absolutely none.
