These are my top TV shows that I watched in 2022. As with the movies, I'm posting this now because I never got around to it last year.
Also like the movies, these are just what I watched in 2022, not series that came out in 2022. They also have to be new to me in 2022, so no series with new seasons that I’d already been following. These aren’t necessarily the best shows, just ones I really liked or made an impression on me. I’m including both running series and limited or miniseries.
These shows are in no particular order, I just arranged the posters how I thought they'd looked the best. The shows are:
This is Going to Hurt
Shining Girls
The Haunting of Bly Manor
For All Mankind
Unbelievable
Five Days at Memorial
Succession
The Patient
Yellowjackets

31 Days of Horror Movies (?/31)
I WANT TO DEDICATE WAY TOO MUCH TIME TO HORROR, FUCK YOUR MOVIES, LET'S TALK TV
Okay, I know I said horror movies, but media would have been over-reaching (I'm not talking about video games or books, though do check out the Shining, it's amazing). And I'm not sure if there's any word that encompasses both movie and tv. (Watch, one of you assholes (affectionate) will tell me within 5 mins of me posting this.) But, I'm going to list some tv anyway, because it's my list and you can't stop me.
Inside No. 9: An anthology series in which each episode is a self-contained story and the genres range from drama to comedy to dark comedy to horror to black comedy. ... As with any other anthology that exists, there are going to be episodes you love, episodes you hate, and episodes that fall everywhere in-between. Most of the eps, for me, fall at least into the "like" category which is how it made this list. With only 6 eps per season and 2 specials, with each ep running 30 mins, for a tv show it's not a huge time commitment.
American Horror Story: Asylum: The second season of AHS follows the stories of "patients" and staff at an asylum in 1964. ... I made myself go with only one season of AHS and it was a no brainer that it'd be this one. The writers had really hit their stride with this one but weren't yet bogged down by all that had come before it (which was only one season). The characters are some of the best characters that have ever been written or acted in the series and the stories are some if its tightest. It's worth noting, though, that AHS is infamous for, as I put it, throwing everything including the kitchen sink into a story and this season is no exception.
The Haunting of Hill House: A fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it. ... If there's one show that you decide to give a try, this is the show you should watch. Some of the tightest writing I've ever experienced, amazingly acted, absolutely gorgeous character work, and the sixth episode, Two Storms, to this day takes my breath away. Definitely top 5 best tv shows I've ever watched. There is also another series from the same writer, The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is nowhere near as good but as some really amazing moments.
The Last of Us: A man must help a young teen girl get across a fungal-zombie filled United States. ... Man, if you'd told me that there'd be a zombie tv series on this list before I watched this series, I would have raised a very skeptical eyebrow at you. I tend to find zombies somewhat boring, all the survivors are always depressingly horrible to each other, and a tv show is long form which means that these two things are usually drawn out awfully long. But this show does it all right. The writing is amazingly tight, the character and relationships are great, the emotions are there and feel real and meaningful, and my only major complaint is a grudging one because this show is literally so well-written there's no way to change it without ruining the tightness of the script. So, insert "I guess" meme here.

Your taste in tv is so good! What are some all time favourites you'd recommend?
Tumblr media
genuinely truly love and adore asks like this thank you anon let's get into it. disclaimer: not everything i like is Good it's about emotional impact, the feelings i've associated with it etc etc
orphan black - tatiana maslany is a generational talent. this is my favourite show. i always come back to it because its funny its dramatic its about family, its about the depths of women and their love for each other nature vs nuture whatever just phenomenal
bojack horseman - diane nguyen is me i'm her. i don't know how but this show was able to put all the feelings you've ever had about yourself into words that left me really raw and seen. so many impactful episodes. my personal favs are the view from halfway down and season 5 episode 2 when diane goes to vietnam. i feel like you either watch bojack or you get bojack
90210 - i rewatch this show like every 18 months. there are aspects of the show i don't like but everytime i rewatch it, especially as i'm getting older, there's always something new i notice and resonate with. the last time was when i was firmly pro annie like i get her i love her
midnight mass - this made me cry. it's my fave of the trilogy in comparison to the haunting of hill house or bly manor. if there's one thing mike flanagan is going to do it's deliver a monologue that will shift your worldview. i adored this show. i love the take on vampires, the religious trauma, the dichotomy of being a Good Christian vs being a Good Person. stunning
neo yokio - i almost forgot to include this. this is my favourite show, actually. i love it. i rewatch it every year sometimes twice a year i think its neat :)
i feel like i haven't really gotten the most Expansive list of shows but i spent like 9 years of my life stuck with game of thrones and pretty litle liars -- neither of which i'd actually recommend in good faith.

The Haunting Season 3 Release Date : All You Need To Know
Tumblr media
The Haunting is a horror series that has been viewed a lot around the world. Mike Flanagan's Netflix series has a great mix of drama and horror, which engages the viewers. There are no cheap jump scares. Only well-written, intricate plots that leave viewers feeling deep sorrow and longing. The Haunting of Bly Manor is the second installment of The Haunting series. It was released on October 9, 2020. The story follows a young American teacher, who is an in-house tutor to two beautiful children at Bly Manor. Later, she discovers that the Manor is full of dark and unfathomable secrets that will forever alter her life. It's not surprising that the show quickly rose to Netflix's Top Titles, proving its popularity. Let's see what the next steps are for this series. Is there a third season of 'The Haunting? We are positive that the show will be renewed in season 3. The Haunting of Bly Manor remained at the top of the US Netflix charts for the first week. It also topped multiple regions around the world. Netflix is known for its high regard for viewership when deciding whether to renew a series or not. It is only a matter time before Netflix makes the renewal announcement. When will 'The Haunting Season 3' be available on Netflix? We have already spoken of our confidence in obtaining another season of The Haunting series. We are expecting long delays to The Haunting Season 3, unfortunately. The Haunting of Hill House, the first installment, debuted on Netflix on October 12, 2018. It took Netflix four months (February 2019), to renew the series despite its popularity. Although it took four months to secure a renewal, The Haunting of Bly manor, the second installment, was released on the same date the next year, October 9, 2020. Season 3's release date will be affected by more than just how quickly the show is renewed. It will also depend on Mike Flanagan's involvement in the series. Flanagan directed all episodes of Hill House, but only the series opener for Bly Manor. Flanagan has a full schedule at the moment. Flanagan is currently working on two new Netflix horror series, Midnight Mass (and The Midnight Club). It would take him longer to squeeze The Haunting season 3 into his busy schedule. They have already surprised us with the second season two years after the first. Can they surprise us again with the third installment in October 2022? Season 3 of The Haunting of Hill House Cast: It was unclear at the beginning if Season 2 actors would be retained for season 3. However, the production team confirmed that some of the established actors would be returning to the show. You can expect to meet Victoria Pedretti as Dani, Oliver Jackson Cohen as Peter, Henry Thomas as the younger Hugh Crain, Catherine Parker and Kate Siegel. We expect to add a few more actors to the team. T'Nia Miller, Rahul Kolhi, Super Girl and Amelia Eve will all be joining the team. The children that the governess cares for will be played by the newest cast. The cast might surprise us with unexpected additions or extermination roles. Let's wait and see. What happened in "The Haunting of Bly"? The End - Explained Viola Willoughby's curse on Bly Manor was broken by Dani's act of sacrifice. All ghostly residents of Bly Manor including Hannah, Rebecca and Peter were allowed to live in Viola's body. The survivors of Bly Manor tried to live their lives normally. Owen opened a restaurant in honor of Hannah's memory. Lord Henry moved to America along with Flora and Miles. The three survivors were reunited at Owen’s restaurant when it became clear that Flora, Miles and Henry do not recall what happened at the Bly Manor. Viola was still present in Dani's body but Dani and Jaime managed to have happy years together. They also opened a flower shop in America. As the years passed, Dani began to lose control of her life. One night, she woke up with Jaime's neck wrapped around her hand. Fearful of hurting the woman she loves, she ran away and left Jaime desperate to find her. Jaime's search brought her back to Bly Manor at the bottom the lake. She saw Dani's tragic fate. Viola's former Lady of The Lake, Dani, has been replaced by Dani. Dani was asked to take Viola's soul, so she could be with her forever. Dani, however, would not claim any soul, unlike Viola. Dani is doomed to the same fate that Viola and will forget her loved memories and herself. We discovered that Jaimie was the older narrator and Flora, the bride, was a Flora, before the show ended. We discovered that the guests were also older versions of Miles, Henry, and Owen. Jaime went back to her hotel room, leaving her door open slightly. She fills up the sink and bath with water in hopes that Dani will find her. Jaime sat down in a chair, closed her eyes and found no indication that her love was there. After long years of waiting, finally we see Dani's hands resting on Jaime. This is a sign that Dani still loves Jaime and remembers her, which proves love transcends Viola's curse. Season 3 of The Haunting of Hill House: Expected Plot Season 3 of The Haunting of Hill House Seas0n 3 will continue the story of Season 2. The inspiration for the season was the book "The Turn of the Screw", which focused on one government caring about two distant children. Jaime was Viola's body, but Dani and Jaime were able to have a good relationship. While moving to America, the couple opened a floral shop in America. Dani lost her self-control over time. Jaime was being held in her hands by Dani when she woke up one night. Jaime was left to search for her, but she chose to flee because she was afraid she would hurt the woman she really loved. Jaime returned to Bly Manor, at the bottom of the lake. Her search led her there. There, she witnessed Dani's tragic future. Official Trailer for "The Haunting" We've got a trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor. You can watch all episodes on Netflix. We will keep you informed about the latest developments in The Haunting series. Read the full article

final thoughts: the haunting of hill house
first of all what's with mike flanagan and making me cry. i don't actually cry easily but there's a specific tone that just turns on the faucets in my eyes, and somehow this guy knows exactly how to strike that cord.
genuinely this was such a good show; idk why i put off watching it for so long. i guess because as a general rule i'm not all that into ghost stories so it didn't pique my interest, but i am sincerely so glad i did. not without repercussions, because those middle few episodes are so scary it fucked up my sleep—and again i don't scare easily either, so i'm impressed with how much tension and suspense and fear was packed into each episode.
i finished the last 2 episodes today, and i wish i'd pushed through and watched episode 9 last night before bed because it would have been a MUCH better episode to leave off on lmao (instead i had trouble sleeping because i couldn't stop thinking about this show and what was going to happen, and thinking about ghosts and monsters and whatever isn't exactly conducive to sound sleep)
my folly as a person is that i think very deeply about the art i engage with and so it was hard to stop thinking about this show. again, not great for sleep. but it really dragged me in and pulled me along in a heated fervor; i wasn't expecting to finish it so quickly, but i seriously couldn't put it down. everything about this show is so well done, from the tone and mood to the story to the themes. i can't even think of anything i'm unsatisfied with, or that i wish had happened differently.
there's so much poeticism in how the story unfurled and how past and present wove together—i find it particularly enchanting that nellie, haunted by her own ghost her entire life, was the one to make the revelation that time is scattered all around us like raindrops.
i guess i don't even know what to say honestly. it was just so good. i feel the same way i did when i finished midnight mass: in awe at such an amazing story and the way it was told. emotional beyond belief—i am so compromised right now seriously.
this makes me doubly excited to watch the haunting of bly manor, but alas i will be trekking through spn season 7 first because i need to watch a train wreck first. god bless and amen
