The Hives - Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones
2005
"Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones" is the second single from the third studio album Tyrannosaurus Hives (2004) by Swedish rockband The Hives. The guitar riff is borrowed from a song by The Monkees 1966 hit "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone".
The song was included on the soundtracks of the video games Madden NFL 2005 and MotoGP '06.
After gaining traction in Sweden through the 1990s, The Hives rose to worldwide prominence in the early 2000s during the garage rock revival. Their mainstream success came with the release of Veni Vidi Vicious (2000) and its single "Hate to Say I Told You So", considered their signature song. They are known for always dressing in matching black-and-white tuxedos and for their energetic and eccentric live shows, with critics hailing them as one of the best live rock bands of the last two decades.
Some of their famous collaborations include hip-hop producer Timbaland on the track "Throw It On Me" from his 2007 album Shock Value (the band also featured in the track's music video), as well as the tracks "Time For Some Action" and "Windows" from N.E.R.D.'s 2008 album Seeing Sounds.
"Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones" recieved a total of 66,7% yes votes!
Following from my previous Fae-Hive piece I thought I'd give it another swing and really lean into it.
~Court of the Laughing King~
In the lowest depths of the under-dark, in a chasm known as Light's Grave, a fowl spawn from the Shadowfell dwells in the darkness, The Laughing King. A giant who cackles and laughs at kingdoms above as he amasses his vast Hive army to one day consume the world for little more than the novelty of war. Guided by his two generals, Vestige, the first blade (kight on the right), and Thorn, the second blade (Knight on the left), to lead his armies, and Maar (Witch in the middle) to spawn his monsters, the Laughing kings steal away whatever poor adventuring party who feel brave enough to wander deep enough where alight goes to die.
the first two books of arc 3 are really nostalgic to me, but i feel like the protagonists had solar masses of wasted potential...
blue, instead of genuinely liking and trusting the hivewings, could instead be in denial about pantalan society. he could be afraid of breaking rules not because he truly believes in them, but because he doesn't want to hurt dragons in the process. his worst fear is becoming like the hivewings, and that's why he won't fight back.
cricket could be worrying about being a burden to everybody, since katydid had to give so much up to hide her. cricket had a very sad and lonely life and she should have some trauma from it.. she and blue would have a sibling relationship instead of being lovers also
sundew could have been a pessimist, since every action she takes would be one step closer to fulfilling her purpose. she would be like clay in the sense that it's her destiny to be a killer, but sundew would have outwardly accepted it. in this scenario she wouldn't be dating willow, but instead have a forbidden romance with cricket.
So with the arrival of the Witch Queen DLC I've been feeling some Hive-vibes. Had this silly idea of a hive-fae-type fantasy race in D&D and destiny had me, also because apparently, fairies can have bug legs? So why not Hive bug fairy
Figured I could have done more with this, but wanted to just round it off. Might try more of this one day who knows!
