#the hunt of Artemis

I get the criticism of the Hunters of Artemis from a narrative perspective—it sucks that it essentially boots interesting female characters out of the story—but it always baffles me when people viciously hate Artemis for *checks notes* doing damage control.
Like. Thalia explicitly goes with Artemis to avoid the prophecy, and I definitely think that’s the reason Artemis tried so hard to get her to join—hell, you can view the hunters trying to recruit Annabeth as a way to get Thalia to join. And Bianca? You can’t convince me that Artemis didn’t guess there was something up there and react accordingly.
If Percy or Nico were even a little bit girl-adjacent you bet your ass she would be all over them to join. No one actually wants to risk the Great Prophecy happening, and Artemis is doing a hell of a lot more to stop it than anyone else.

Very self-indulgent design idea time!
When I was redrawing my timeline for Apollo’s life, I gave him horns as a kid, both as something he inherited from his mother and a nod to his place as the god of shepherding. I said that they were broken after his first battle with Python, and never regrew. Well, what if after his second battle with the same foe, they came back?
This is kind’ve tied to a little idea I’ve had for a while about how Apollo ascended in ToN. Bc I’m pretty sure Zeus did not restore his godly powers lol, that man was pretty intent on Apollo dying. I imagine that Apollo had some immortal powers in reserve (hence all the power boosts earlier in the series) that Zeus didn’t notice. And Zeus didn’t notice bc these powers were from his titan side, not his godly side. So when he fell into chaos and all that, those powers truly kicked in as a survival instinct, and he ascended to Olympus as a titan, not a god. Is this what happened in canon? Absolutely not! But I like to use it in my head as a silly little explanation lol.
Anyways Apollo and Leto with horns bc it’s cool and all of this is an excuse for me to slap horns onto their designs.

The Evermore Grimoire: Greek Mythology
Artemis (Αρτεμις meaning ‘Diana’) was the goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon and chastity in Greek mythology. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of girls up until the age of marriage whereas her twin brother Apollo (god of prophecy) was the protector of boys. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease with Artemis targeting women and girls, and Apollo men and boys. She was often depicted with her bow and arrow, signifying the wild and untamed aspects of human life. However it is also believed that Artemis was tricked into having a child after she offended Hera (queen of the gods), Athena (goddess of wisdom), and Aphrodite (goddess of love). She told Athena and Hera that neither of them were true virgin goddesses. After all, Athena had children, and Hera was the goddess of marriage. She then told Aphrodite that love was worthless since you would most likely have a broken heart in the end. She reminded the. goddess of love of the story of Orpheus and his wife Eurydice, who was pursued by another man but was accidentally poisoned by snake and died. The three goddesses were not amused and decided to plot their revenge. With the help of Dionysus (god of pleasure), they made every young man look like a golden stag. But really, they were the men of Athens. Soon Artemis was in childbirth, which was very painful. Hera (who was also the goddess of childbirth), made sure that the birth would not come easily for Artemis. Some say her daughter is Haley's Comet. Others say that she was is shadows of night. Most though, believe that the moon is her daughter, always shining down upon us.

Title goes here :P
Danny joined the Justice League - specifically their magic division, Justice League Dark - after the GIW got sloppy with their information blackout.
He's just been assigned a new mission. It's not his first mission, but it's definitely going to be the absolute best mission he's ever had. Probably the best mission he will ever have considering it combines his two obsessions: space and protection. His mission is to protect Madremonte (a columbian protector spirit/deity of the forest and the natural life) and a couple oreads (mountain nymphs) at the Watchtower until the rest of the JLD can clear their respective homes of Hunters.
Until then, he and his 3 charges get to explore the common areas available to them and chat about their respective interests.

Took a lil break from drawing bc I unexpectedly got busy, but here's some doodles of a fun world where Apollo just stuck with the first thing he was the god of (shepherding) and lived on Delos with his mom instead of ascending to Olympus. Because Apollo's life would've been so much happier if he got to live with his mom as an immortal farmer. He deserves this.

Zeus: Artemis, where's Apollo?
Artemis: Uh sorry Dad I haven't seen him since the last time I saw him.
Zeus: And when was that?
Artemis: The last time I saw him?
Artemis: .....It's... definitely the time I saw him last.
