#the ink is diamine oxford blue

Hi, I recently have started wanting to get into fountain pens a bit. I was wondering if you have come across a dark/midnight navy ink that you liked? Thanks!
First of all, I am so excited for you!!! My personal favorite dark blue ink is Oxford Blue by Diamine. It’s affordable and the red sheen on it is amazing!! It was the ink that got me more interested in inks rather than just pens themselves. 💙
You can get it at most pen retailers and on Amazon. Diamine in general has a really good and affordable color variety and the inks tend to behave nicely.

5/5, and a look into the ‘organization’ of the quote page from this past weekend’s reading. I’ve started using exclusively fountain pens - Jinhao extra fine point sharks - and some inks from Diamine and Monteverde.
So far, in the Diamine inks, @we-are-knight has ‘Oxblood’, that deep red/brown. The darkest blue is ‘Oxford Blue’ - @we-are-monk, the almost teal is ‘Aurora Borealis’ - @we-are-darkelf, the orange is ‘Amber’, the spring green is ‘Meadow’, and the jewel-tone green is Monteverde’s ‘Erinite’. Not pictured this week is Diamine ‘Imperial Purple’, which I’m sure will make a showing eventually.
What have I learned so far? Extra fine nibs and bold text do not mix over-well.
And onward we look to next weekend’s reading... what gems will we find therein?

Days 9-11:
What is your favorite ink?
I am still very much testing inks, but I’ve really liked Diamine Oxford Blue, Diamine Lilac Night, and I think inks with more sheen are fun like Organics Studio Nitrogen. I’m not much of a black ink person, so I gravitate mostly to blue, purple, and green.
Write a favorite quote with one of your pens!
I don’t necessarily have a favorite quote so I wrote some things from Slaughterhouse-Five, which is one of the books that made me want to study literature! It’s very quotable so I thought it was appropriate. (written with an extra fine TWSBI in Diamine Lilac Night)
What inks do you use on a daily basis?
I just purchased bottles of Diamine Oxford Blue and Noodler’s Sequoia Green to use for note-taking this semester! I wanted something fun but also very neutral and readable.

Inktober 10: flowing
I got some new ink for my fountain pens so I decide to give it a try (the ink being Diamine Oxford Blue), it plays really nice with water though I’ve found in the lines it can almost go red which is neat though you can see it in this piece.
also lagoon is fun to draw, though I may play with her “hair” a bit more. maybe once I get her human design being a thing

I love that it has actual constellations on it. And these things take decades of training to learn how to do the techniques for the designs with several months to make just one pen? <3
The ink is Diamine’s Oxford blue. It fit the space theme in my mind with redshift and blueshift. Very pretty in person.
I’m posting a video in a separate post for the spirals.
More info about pen below cut.
Namiki Yukari Milky Way
On the barrel we can find the Lyra constellation, which is located on the northern hemisphere and dominated by the bright Vega.  The cap shows the Aquila constellation and its main star Altair, which are located near the celestial equator.
Hira Maki-e gold powder streaks, are scattered around the pens black urushi lacquer body representing how the Milky Way crosses the night sky. The Shu-kanshitsu Maki-e technique sprinkles dry vermilion lacquer particles enhancing the design.
Stars are represented by small gold, silver and mother of pearl circles finely cut in shellfish using the Raden technique. The amazing shades they feature are achieved due to a very special technique:  Fuse-zaishikim. This technique colors the back of the shell pieces to be encrusted so that the color combines by transparency with its iridescent aspect. Paying homage to spiral galaxies, Namiki translates the Milky Way onto the fountain pen using the Fuse-zai-shiki in Togidashi (burnished) Maki-e technique. The Milky Way, home to planet Earth, had its name “milky” derived from its appearance as seen from Earth as a band due to its disk-shaped structure, bulging center and surrounding spiral arms. In Japan, Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is a popular festival that celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi. According to a Chinese legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers and they are only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar as seven was regarded to be a lucky number. People celebrate this day by writing their wishes on small strips of paper, called tanzaku, and hanging them on bamboo trees along with other decorations, praying for their wishes to come true. Originating from China, the festival found its way to Japan during the feudal period and merged with local customs, making Tanabata a festival widely-celebrated across Japan. Over many years to the present day, they are one of the top brands in Maki-e fountain pens conveying Japanese traditional culture.
