Do you have any tips on making art your job? I graduated with an art degree and then got laid off from my day job so I've decided I'm using this time to do what I want in life... but then the first time I sat at my computer I just stared at the screen like "now what"

at its simplest heres how i got to where i am, mileage may vary and its almost definitely not helpful >get popular off fanart (this takes a while. you need prolly 10k-20k followers before you make any money Full Stop) you dont even need to be a good artist but this is the point at which you should be really firing on all cylinders to improve and impress

>start peddling original work thats fun and exciting. helps to be a decent writer as well as artist. fanart usually is not a reliable moneymaker cause you can find it anywhere so its better to get ppl invested in your original work if you can (make your own niche babey!)

>get commissions. get commissions til you cant take more+ get a reputation as a reliable artist, if you do a good job and are chill and mostly polite its likely your clients will recommend you to their friends

>when you have too much work, make commissions patreon/ko-fi exclusive so you have passive income to support you if you cant work suddenly for whatever reason

rinse, repeat and find out what works for you till youre making stacks. good luck!

If any of you think I’m going to be even remotely normal when Zootopia 2 releases you are sadly mistaken. I will be the first in line for the premiere day, I will be going back and watching it at least once a week and I will be wearing my full Judy cosplay every time. I will be bringing my stack of Zootopia plushes with me too. The movie theater employees will be so sick of me. Parents and their children will judge me. I will be belting out the lyrics to whatever new song that’s going to be written for the movie at any given opportunity. I will likely memorize the entire script within a week. I will make t-shirts for my friends that say ‘I saw Zootopia 2 with my Zootopia-obsessed friend’ and I will wear a matching shirt that says ‘I’m the Zootopia-obsessed friend’. I will never shut up about this goddamn sequel. My friends and family will hate me. My coworkers will think I’m mentally ill (I am). My parents will consider sending me to therapy but it’s too late for me. I’m so far down the Zootopia rabbit hole (hehe) that I can’t even see the light. The fact that this is such a controversial thing - and to some extent, the fact that it's even a question at all - is a truly fascinating case study in how easy it is to make people forget that "emotion is not praxis" is a true statement and absolutely not in the way "facts don't care about your feelings" chuds think, and how framing in journalism can stir emotions to override people's stated moral codes and even factual knowledge ABSURDLY easily.

Did I just dodge the question? Yes. Will I continue to do so even if I elaborate on it as a case study? Probably yeah.
