Because I’m tired over parenting debates where the only true answer is Straff, who’s the worst sibling?
Motivations under the cut:
Reen - Was physically and psychologically abusive towards his sister.
Zane - Tried to have his brother assasinated and tried to make his sister in law fall in love with him because he was jealous and when she didn't reciprocrate tried to kill her as well. Also got multiple of his other siblings killed during the previously mentioned assassination attempt.
Gavilar - Used his brother as a weapon and then used his following ptsd and addiction as a way to manipulate him. He also persued the girl he knew his brother wanted to court.
Dalinar - Was about to kill his brother once, got drunk and didn’t listen during his meetings and eventually fucked his widow (which is good for her but I imagine Gavilar would take issue).
Telsin - Faked her death, killed her brother, then tried to nuke his home city.
Eventeo - Took the throne from his brother and banished him.
Kiin - Tried to take the throne back from his brother by force.
Balat - Let his sister deal with their family problems and feel responsible for him and their brothers despite being the youngest.
Helaran - Left his siblings alone with their abusive father.
Kelsier - Died? And fought over a girl.
Venli - Set off events that led to her sisters death, kinda. Idk it's not her I just wanted more women on the list.
Prime Elhokar - Had one of his sisters closest allies murdered in front of her. Basically locked her up so she couldn't tell anyone and then married her off to Sadeas/Amaram against her wishes.

does anyone wonder what dalinar wrote about his sons in oathbringer (memoir)? like do y'all think it was like the flashbacks and he mentions the moment he held adolin in his arms he found a reason to live and to change and he loved him deeply
and then how he wasn't even there for renarin's birth and fucking hated the name evi gave him and basically forgot he existed until like 6 years ago?
plot twist: that's the real reason adolin is pissed at him

On the long list of renarin moments I hope we see someday in flashback chapters: talking to adolin about the Sadeas Murder
Tumblr media
Renarin definitely knew! Why did they never talk about this!

I've been messing around with my simpler art style all weekend and I also saw a few pictures of Adolin in a dress, so here you go! Both of the Kholin brothers in pretty dresses.
Below is the reference I used for Adolin's pose.

Some sketches of my bestie Adolin Kholin!
I honestly have so much to say about Adolin. He's the perfect character to me. Like he's the most earnest man ever. he's frustratingly likeable. He's a bit too impulsive. He spends his free time browsing fashion magazines. He's a horsegirl. He's frighteningly skilled and chopping people's heads off with a longsword.

i may be the idiot who is drunk at 10 am so like ignore everything i say im not a credible source for anything but i think that the sibling relationshpip between dalinar and gavilar is one of the most perfect things on earth. its like. okay gavilar cares for dalinar and is basically his substitute dad after the mysterious illness that the gavilar dalinar dad gets and because of that dalinar is totally devoted to gavilar but like gavilar does not treat dalinar with any level of respect he treats dalinar as a tool until his dying day. thats just so juicy. and i think its really tragic the way things ended up. because dalinar loved gavilar in such a pure familial way like he straight up got sober for him and like let me tell you first hand you can love someone very very deeply and still struggle to get sober for their sake because addiction is that powerful so for that to overpower everything and make dalinar quit to honor gavilar's memory and then, like, stick to it? for six years until he is pushed to the absolute limit with remembering rathalas again and being unable to cope? but before that managing to do it? that's huge dalinar respected and loved gavilar so deeply and purely and gavilar did not feel the same way about dalinar gavilar saw dalinar as a tool first and foremost. and that makes me very sad and very emo

Renarin: Has you considered cross-referencing your highly detailed historically-themed visions with written historical record?
Renarin: If only we knew someone who could help us with this.
Dalinar: By the Almighty, who would have ever thought of such a thing!?
Adolin: ... okay, but have you really considered my suggestion of just ignoring it all?

What in the Kelsier and Marsh is happening with Siri and Vivenna
They’re from a family that’s set apart from the rest of society and there’s resentment between them even though they’re supposed to protect each other
One is set up in a more visible position of power while the other is forced to work with the underground
One was given mysterious powers partially against their will and the other one doesn’t know about it
One is committed to working within the system to start a war/revolution and the other is working from outside it

Social medias that the stormlight characters would use because I say so.
Shallan: Tumblr for her arts and tik tok to also share her art but also because she likes make dance videos
Adolin: like all of them. He likes the video sharing apps more because he can talk about his horses and swords and show them to people
Renarin: mainly uses tumblr but has an account on all of them because Adolin convinced him to. Neither him nor Shallan know of each others accounts
Dalinar: Facebook and hes bad at it.
Kaladin: discord because bridge four forced him into one.
Jasnah: Facebook because she was forced onto it by Navani. She never posts anything.
Navani: Facebook but she’s really good at it
Lift: Twitter. She’s Twitter famous somehow.
Szeth: has a bunch of accounts but doesn’t post anything on them. Somehow is in the bridge four discord.
Rlain: also in the bridge four discord. Has a YouTube where he talks about music.
All heralds: MySpace or some other old defunct site.
Rysn: shes a Pinterest girlie
Cord: has her own food blog and that’s like all she uses. It’s super successful
Nightblood has his own tik tok but nobody believes it to be true and just thinks that it’s really good editing because a talking sword?
Moash: somehow still in the bridge four discord. Lurks there and occasionally says something like bitch.

sometimes a girl just has to explain her favorite book to an imaginary version of the girl she has a crush on
#sometimes I wonder how I would explain to someone why I like dalinar kholin because every time I try to explain him it's always like#oh he did a few war crimes but it's okay because he was mind controlled and also accidentally had the war crimes removed from his memory#and then went through like decades???? of character development before having the memories reintroduced#and he was completely fucked up over it#he went through the half of the redemption arc where he changes the root cause of the actions that caused a need for redemption#now he needs to deal with actually having done the war crimes#tbh so far he basically just publicly admitted to the war crimes I don't think he's actually done anything for the people of rathalas#I really hope dalinar gets to get into this stuff with the rest of the alethi because this all kind of started with#the kholin brothers uniting alethkar but in doing so instilling a culture of competition and conflict instead of cooperation#which dalinar recognizes as a problem but has never addressed as a thing that he was at least partially responsible for#okay I need to check again but I think adolin is the new kholin highprince after dalinar stepped up as king of urithiru?#I guess he's kind of changing things due to the way he's leading the coalition not as the Blackthorn but as the Bondsmith#but he still kind of has to manage the Blackthorn persona because that's what people expect from him#he's been on a constant road toward becoming who he is today and I'm so proud of him#I really hope we get more focus on him in KoWT and on his relationship with adolin bc iirc he was just knocked out for all of RoW
