anyone else kinda disappointed lucie’s powers never got a grand reveal or even much acknowledgement throughout the last hours? especially in chain of thorns with the final battle and what she did to save everyone…she is often just completely overlooked and it really grates me.
from the very start of chain of gold, all the focus was on james’ shadow powers. and then lucie called an entire freaking river of ghosts to save cordelia … and all we got was magnus looking at her intently and jesse later telling her he answered her call. not one real bit of acknowledgment from her friends. and i was hoping that part of lucie’s arc would be frustration at being the “second herondale” sibling, living in her brother’s shadow, embracing her power and eventually telling everyone the truth about her powers and having them realise oh shit, lucie is powerful, she’s been powerful this whole time, arguably even more powerful than james…but literally like none of her friends acknowledge it at all and it’s so frustrating to me as a big lucie fan :/. like home girl has called on and commanded LEGIONS of ghosts, she brought someone back to life for crying out loud, and it’s NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED PROPERLY and it’s so annoying to me !!!!! to clarify i do not hate james at all or anything, just that there was SO much focus on his shadow shifting ability, what about lucie’s power over the dead huh??!
the lack of a grand reveal just felt so anticlimactic and frustrating. outside of jesse, malcolm, and idek grace it’s like no one even cared. except cordelia who felt upset lucie couldn’t open up to her about it (and like on the one hand ok i get the whole secrets thing is the driving force of the plot & ig i’d be a bit upset if my best friend hid something massive from me, BUT at the same time i’d be like ok, so given what we’re discussing here (necromancy) i guess that’s kinda valid why you felt the need to hide that and also wow you’re insanely powerful?) also why did lucie’s adoration of cordelia feel one-sided,
anyway some random thoughts, i just feel like lucie is never given enough credit for how powerful she is and all she did in the series, away from the limelight. i was soo hyped for a herondale woman but she was just not respected enough !

Thomas was glowering. "You cannot make me stay here." "I can," Alastair said with feeling. "I will. I shall sit on you if necessary."

The time has come and I'm gonna rant about this.
Okay. Con alto miedo a una funa I'm just gonna say it: what the actual fuck.
It's like the whole TSC fandom decided to hate everything CC says from now on. Like, dude, I totally get you are angry and hurt and feel that ChoT was a big betrayer. But you don't get to harass her and insult her and everything she has done. ChoT (and TLH in general, actually) was so fucking hard to write for her.
And yes, it could've been a better book. The ending didn't make justice to the story. It's sad we spent years waiting for it and it didn't meet expectations. I know that. And it's frustrating. And it hurts.
But, and hear me on this and please don't try to kill me I'm currently terrified of all of you, it's not CC's fault.
"Oh, of course it is, she wrote it!!" "She had years to plan it and look how it turned out!!" "This is what happens when you write such a big series!! It was meant to happen eventually!!" "She's the writer she should know her books and characters better!!!"
First, fuck you??? Uhhh she wrote this book back in 2020?? Coronavirus?? Have you heard of it?? Thousands and thousands of deads and social distance?? No?? Uh. Weird.
I really wish I didn't feel the urge to defend her (cuz yeah, I'm upset too, my expectations on her will always be higher than the empire state and this didn't even get higher than myself) but guys. Please. Stop harassing her. And stop harassing ppl that's trying to see the bright side of things.
It's okay to be angry. To be sad. To be frustrated. To feel you've been played. God knows that's how I feel.
But. Honey. It's not like CC woke up one morning and thought Ohh!! You know what'd be great?? To disappoint all my fans writing a really long book that goes against all I've been trying to say throughout the series!!!
She literally couldn't bring herself to write the book you wanted. The book you "deserved". Because the world was falling a part. And she didn't have the support system she usually has. And that doesn't make her a bad writer. It makes her a fucking human being.
Yes. ChoT did not meet expectations. Yes. These characters deserved better. Yes. ChoT had the potential to be a really strong book and it didn't deliver. Yes. We wanted tears and our heart tear out of our chest. We did not get that.
She. Just. Couldn't. Do. It. With. The. World. Falling. Down.
Hate to ask you to have empathy with her but dear lord sometimes you guys just get too far.

I love how Thomas is an unreliable narrator in the sense that he never notices how other people react to his appearance because he is so self-conscious and has a rather low self-esteem regarding his physical appearance.
It takes Alastair to tell us that, apparently, people are ogling Tom because he looks so good.
On the other hand, we never actually see people reacting that way in any of the other character's POVs, and that can mean 2 things:
A) The others don't pay that much attention to Thomas because he is just kind-hearted Tom to them
B) Alastair in a way overinterprets other people's looks because to him, Thomas is so beautiful, how could other people not see it, how could they not want him?
Addition: In ChoG, Cordelia actually describes Tom as handsome, but not beautiful as James or Matthew (several times). Clearly, the Carstairs siblings have different tastes.

I have a google drive of all the CHOT leaks, if anyone is interested. I will not post it here, but I will share it via DM. If anyone knows of any scenes I may have missed, please send them to me and I’ll add them.

Grace: can you pass the beaker, Uncle Henry?
Henry, crying: Christopher used to call me ‘Uncle Henry’
Grace: I—I’m sorry
Henry: it’s okay, Grace
Grace, crying as well: Christopher used called me ‘Grace’
Matthew, being done because it’s the 10th time they’ve been doing that in a day: BECAUSE THAT’S YOUR NAME!
