I think that saying Naruto doesn’t understand love (like The Last appeared to suggest) is a bestial assumption that desecrates the entire plot of the original manga.
Another bullshit (but this could be simply me psychoanalysing the main character way too much) is Sakura being so shocked about Naruto comparison between Love and Ramen.
His definition is not “nosense” at all: for Naruto ramen is care, comfort, his favourite food ‘cause remembers him about Teuchi, who was one of the few people caring about his well-being during childhood. Ramen takes good memories and it’s his mother’s favourite food as well.
In Naruto’s mind, ramen is Home.
So I think is really cruel to underestimate this concept as stupid (but is not strange at all that is Sakura, the most insensitive character of the show, who tries to change his mind).
So, the fact that he has to “re-think” a new idea of love to understand his feelings for Hinata is hilarious. Despite the genjustu thing, this feeling seems totally artificial.
But ramen, obviously, is not the only reason. AT ALL.
I’ve disliked the film. And maybe the concepts that they had tried so hard to resemantize are the only things making sense in canon.
Naruto belongs with Sasuke, and this is not casualties and doesn’t need any resemantization. Never.
PS: English is not my native language AND I’m typing using a smaalll phone, so please don’t be a nazi-grammar. ✨
PPS: yes, resemantization is an actual word usually used in historical-semantic or anthropological field and semantic studies.
