No one asked me for it, but League of Extraordinary Gentleman is extraordinarily lacking in reader insert fanfiction. The only problem is deciding who I want to write for first.

Fanfiction review
SPOILERS for Couldn't hurt: The Rise and Fall of Edward Hyde by NightAssassin
I have a sort of a love-hate relationship with this story, it’s well written and does several things that I think are interesting
But there are a few OOC issues with Nemo at certain points
And the most glaring issue?
It is yet another story that turns Hyde into a rapist (with Hyde blackmailing Mina with an injured Skinners and a currently sick and trapped Jekyll’s safety)he somehow is stated to “becomes smarter” as he is able to take over Jekyll’s body more and more, but nothing he does is actually smart or thinking in the long term.
A smarter move on his part (and a more in character one in my opinion) would be using his new control to behave as Jekyll since he IS JEKYLL WITHOUT HIS WALLFLOWER BS, Edward knows now, with Jekylls body at his full command he can get what he wants long-term
And so starts behaving as Henry, only more openly affectionate and bold about Mina (look at Minas face when Henry holds her hand in the movie, she LIKES IT)
In the fic it’s like, yeah, you had forced, violent sex with Mina, now she hates you AND Henry (though the shitty sequel tries to explain this as he did it mostly to just to bring Jekyll pain)
But Hyde in the movie is smart already, he wants Mina LONG TERM
If he can get Mina he’s going to go for it, then he gets all the wild monster sex he could ever want and a beautiful woman on his arm to boot

I always forget how cringe The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie is. It's like reading something I wrote in Middle School or early High School. I mean that wasn't a fanfic for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...

What the heck happened to the Dracula daily fandom? I’ve not encountered any of this drama? Clearly I run in different circles, but I’m nosy so I gotta ask☺️
Well for starters, Jonathan Harker being simultaneously a genderqueer GNC king and a hypermasculine gigachad always in danger of being emasculated is like their most popular fanon and treated as basically canon and if you ever remind them that Jonathan didn't have insane werewolf vampire powers in the book or that, God forbid, Mina has a life of her own outside of her marriage, they'll descend upon you like vultures.
Then there was a trilogy of very, very bad fanfics in which Jonathan Harker basically punches and beheads his way through a very OOC literary crossover, in which, among other things, he becomes Anubis' Chosen One, threatens the Elder Gods, can see the Invisible Man, kills 100000 zombies, gets Captain Nemo to shave his beard, mansplains Mr. Hyde's powers to him, and then punches him so hard he gains a Wajekyll and a Wahyde, the latter of which is then adopted. By the Harkers. It is lauded as "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but Better". I wish I was making this shit up.

Is wrong to like both the movie and concept of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen instead of the final comic product? I enjoy the team and universe but Moore's writing has kinda soured me on the idea of a worldwide team of pulp adventurers. What do you think?
Re: The Movie, I'm not exactly the biggest proponent of it - the comic of League has things I really like and things I despise, whereas the movie is just generally bland and inoffensive, which kind of makes it less memorable.* But, hey, if you like it more power to ya, I'm not the arbiter of what's good or not.
*With the one notable exception of Mina, who is miles better in the movie even with the stupid Dorian Gray plot.
Regarding the actual premise, that's a huge part of the reason why I have as much beef with League as I do - there's things in League that are literally tailor-made for me, conceptually, but so poorly handled that I can't enjoy them as much as I should. Like, I mentioned this in a previous ask, but Orlando should be my favourite character in... anything, ever - they're a genderqueer immortal Arthurian knight, that's designed to appeal to me specifically as a Shining Knight fan, but under Moore's pen they become, as @maxwell-grant put it in this brilliant essay, 'an empty, empty character, a meaningless historical reference dispenser who lives only to play around and kill and fuck endlessly, who’s lived for the entirety of human history doing those things'. So, no, it's completely valid to like the basic idea of League and dislike the comic itself - I'm very fond of saying that there are very few wholly bad ideas for a story, just bad executions of that idea, and as a prime example of this look at works like Anno Dracula or Planetary or even Once and Future, stories with their own myriad problems but which I personally feel deliver on the premise of League far better than League itself - hell, there are fanfictions and fanfic-adjacent ideas within the workings of League that work way better than League itself does.

Do you ever get bored and decide to mess around with crossover fanfiction ideas and your brain’s gives you an absolute gen of a fanfic? Well here’s the plot of the fanfic that my brain gave me:
In a nightmarish turn of events, Bella Swan, Maximum Ride, Tintin, Danny Phantom, and Hatsune Miku found themselves targeted by the insidious gaze of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a mysterious group intent on acquiring the teenagers as their own children through any means necessary. Drawn to the teens' extraordinary abilities and unique qualities, the League saw in them the potential for a new generation of heirs with unparalleled talents. As they were pursued relentlessly by the calculating members of the League, the teenagers were plunged into a dark and treacherous game of survival, where their strengths became both a source of fascination and a target for the sinister intentions of those who sought to possess them. With the League's twisted agenda threatening to consume their lives, Bella, Maximum, Tintin, Danny, and Hatsune Miku must band together to confront the looming threat of being claimed as children by a group whose motives veer towards shadowy manipulation and control.

12 & 17?
12. First ever fic written?
first fic written is sooo very different from first fic posted, I want you to understand this. First fic ever written is a toss up between a fantastic four fic about the silver surfer or a fun sort of self-insert for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) movie. However, shortly after this I got REALLY into disney fandom and had superhero ocs (these ocs still exist to this day but have become SO drastically different) that i was drawing and thinking about fanfic for. Probably a few years later i ended up writing this extremely long paper and pencil silent hill fanfic that was like, really fucking good for a 13 year old to write. Sadly all of these are lost to time.
17. Favorite AU to write?
okay for this you gotta bear with me. it's a convoluted mess sorry <3 takes your hands its uhhh uncharted x modern au dragon age x fallout 4. listen listen, i took some canons and mashed them together and they're kind of all my ocs now. yes that is the anais stuff.
second favorite au is The Gang Goes To Murder Island because it's SO fucking funny.

Fanfic meme I got from @laurenthemself . It's long, so it's under a cut. :) I'm not going to tag anyone, so do this if you want to!
1. How many fics do you have on AO3? 78
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 406,987
3. What fandoms do you write for? LA by Night, NY by Night (and Vampire the Masquerade by association with those two), Sandman and Good Omens. Back in my ff.n days, I wrote a lot of Doctor Who fic. Also Pirates of the Caribbean, Constantine, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and X-Men. Those fics haven't made the journey to Ao3, but I might clean up some of my Doctor Who fics to put onto Ao3.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Do Not Lose Hope - My Good Omens/Sandman cross over about Aziraphale becoming imprisoned alongside Morpheus.
Processing a Broken Arrangement - My first good Omens fic ever and also the fic I wrote the day after seeing Good Omens Season 2 for the first time to try to process my emotions. I think I posted this at a prefect time for others who were also in emotional turmoil to read.
Cosy Preening - A Post-canon Good Omens once shot about Aziraphale preening Crowley's wings.
Not Like Other Angels - My Good Omens Big Bang fic from last year. Aziraphale saves Crowley from a demon hunter in a blizzard.
The First Time - The start of my "Feeds From" Jasper/Annabelle LA by Night series. Annabelle feeds Jasper after the events of Season 1.
5. Do you respond to comments? Yes. Every single one gets a thank you, except for those that are replies to those "thank yous."
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? A Worst-Case Scenario - Which is just a little no-plot angsty scene of Aziraphale and Crowley at war I wrote for a prompt list.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Not Like Other Angels.
8. Do you get hate on fics? *touch wood* No, not yet.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. I've written a lot of vampire smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I don't write a lot of them, but there is this Good Omens/Sandman one I've mentioned already. Do Not Lost Hope
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but if anyone would like to, I'd definitely be keen!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic? Kind of. More than one fic came about through vampire RP with @cravatfiend.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship? Jeva (Jasper/Eva)
15. What’s a fic you’d like to finish but don’t think you ever will? I've finished all the fics I've started so far.
16. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue, keeping characters in character. (Maybe smut?)
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Action/fight scenes
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? I try to avoid it because I don't want to make any mistakes.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Technically, Sleepy Hollow, though that fic is at the bottom of ff.n.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? I have several.
Not Like Other Angels Because I had a lot of fun writing it with the Ineffable Idiots Big Bang crew and getting art for it made by @crowleyholmes (here) and PaulPaul .
Do Not Lose Hope Because I'm really proud of how this one turned out and it got a great response from readers.
I Don't Know What Happens Next My favourite Fix-it-fic.
Year One This was my favourite for a long time, and though it's very much been Jossed by canon. (I got basically everything I guessed about Jasper's backstory wrong lol) I still got Alex Ward to read it and he enjoyed it.

The last of my three Buffyverse ideas:
I've had these on the back burner for a decade and waited until the Buffy comics were done to avoid having to constantly reinvent the wheel to do the full thing, but it all started with the old-model 'Wish to resurrect Tara Maclay' fics that are the worst part of shipping culture making the ship overshadow the people involved.
These five stories can essentially be said to be 'the last five seasons of Buffy if Tara Maclay came back in Season 8 and got to deal with the death of magic and the magic concentration camps like everyone else did.' They are both a reconstruction and a deconstruction of elements of the Buffyverse idea of soulmates, of a lot of tropes in Tara x Willow fanfics, and simply put an excuse to write Tara Maclay and Willow having their own badass adventures separately and then together and not do the racist thing of throwing the obnoxious Latina under the bus while the obnoxious demon gets a pass because she's played by a white woman.
Also featuring my idea that absent pesky actor contracts the First Evil very much did appear as Tara and that this would be a complicating extra shadow over all the other trauma, and that without the ultimate longer-term effects of the Twilight War.
The irony, too, is that in this case all of Willow's actions in Seasons 8 and 9 ultimately stem from loving Tara enough to want people to remember the actual human and to give her time to adjust to being alive again on the one hand, and loving Kennedy enough to not simply discard her for not being Tara because their dynamic, while vastly different, very much does have its own recommendations.
Also going to feature, along with my series rewrite, the idea that the world of Buffy had at least a bit in common with that of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in that Dracula is not the only classic literary character to have been real (and not just the Cthulhu Mythos ala the Order of Dagon and Yog-Sothoth, aka Dawn Summers). One of them also has some support from the earlier episodes of the show and that one episode with the formula, as the Mk. I model makes its reappearance and with it the full-blown effects.

the super infuriating thing is that the league of extraordinary gentlemen isn't the only one who makes jonathan disgusted with mina, that grand grand nephew's fanfic also does the same, saying he's disgusted by her """taint""". as if the second half of the book wouldn't have been fundamentally different if his love wasn't vehemently unhinged and blasphemous all the while she was "unclean".
It's like I was pissed at Coppola for making Jonathan boring boring boring but at least during the climax when Mina is like "will you do the same for me" [she's speaking accusatorily about how ferociously they are hunting down and murdering Dracula] Jonathan answers "no". The take of him victim blaming is so fucking rancid and I Do Not See why people find it more interesting than the canon.

2000s
Plausible queer representation in popular media, featuring images of my favourite bi+ characters, plus a few lesbians: a very personal list. Dates are for when I read, listened or watched. 1970s. 1980s. 1990s. 2000s. 2010s Part 1. 2010s Part 2. 2020s so far.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series: yes, they did badly by Willow/Tara. Yes, some of those characters you have to read between the lines, but not very hard? These shows led me to online fanfic fandom, one of the first safe spaces I found where bi+ people were welcome. I was in my late 20s by then and it was much needed. The only novel I've ever completed was Giles/Ethan.
Torchwood: I had such high hopes for this show, but I gave up in the second season. Even the Cyberwoman-Pterodactyl fight couldn't save it for me. I hear the final season was good.
Gilbert Hernandez's sprawling epic Palomar spans much of the human condition. We all exist here. I can't even pick which bi+ character to include. That first story, Heartbreak Soup, felt a bit weak when I first read it, but how rich the series became.
Honorable mention
More comics by Alan Moore, such as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Pity the film was so terrible.
