On December 24, 1998, Special Agent Fox Mulder relunctantly convinced his partner Dana Scully to go with him into a haunted house on Christmas Eve by stealing her car keys. The ghosts (played by Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin) were of a couple who died in a murder suicide pact in 1917. The episode had only four characters making it the smallest cast in the series until the revival. (how the ghosts stole christmas)

Lily Tomlin's Intelligent Life...
This morning my publicist asked me to provide Amsel's image of Lily Tomlin. It made me smile, as I knew I then had to sort through many images in my collection.
Amsel did a number of portraits of the legendary comedienne. There was a portrait for the cover of TIME, which is featured at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. The were posters for THE LATE SHOW, and THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING WOMAN (the latter was used in newspaper ads, but not as the final one sheet).
But one image I had was, I believe, yet to be published anywhere: Amsel's proposed poster design for Tomlin's hit show, THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE.
As with Bette Midler, Amsel had a unique association with Tomlin, which we intend to explore in the documentary. A fascinating, unexplored part of this was Amsel's ambitions to become an animator. He had done a pencil test using Tomlin's Edith Ann character -- a self-taught animation exercise that a number of people saw, but the footage has, tragically, remained lost for years.
Tomlin would go on to develop Edith Ann into an animated cartoon special, which the LOS ANGELES TIMES profiled in early 1994. In their interview Tomlin mentioned Amsel's work:
“He was a big Edith fan and he was also a Disney fan. He could draw, but he couldn’t animate so he taught himself how to animate. He did about a minute and half of Edith and he filmed me first on 8 millimeter,” Tomlin recalls. “It was just so adorable. I don’t know where that film is. It was real appealing. It was just in her little voice.”
For the record, I've tried numerous times over the years to reach out to Ms. Tomlin's camp, asking if she'd be willing to participate in the documentary. So far, no success... If anyone has any leads to help, please let me know!

Hi !!
I just finished watching Joel Kim Booster's Psychosexual and can I just say that I will be watching it again because I was laughing my ass off the entire time while also learning so much in some ways, he’s so funny ! I’ve never heard of him before and I saw that you mentioned it in one of the asks your responded to earlier and I wanna thank you because otherwise I would’ve never found out about it 😊 if you have any suggestions similar to that I would really appreciate it!
Hey, I'm glad you liked it. I had no idea he was a stand up comedian. I just saw Joel in Fire Island, you can check that out. But he's actually funny and also hot which is a big bonus, lol. I loved how after each act he would get that look in his eyes and address that Ben guy in the audience who represented the straight white guy. He was so uncomfortable, but I loved the little twist at the end. Male comedians tend to bore me sometimes, especially when they do an entire show about relationships (women as well), but Joel was different in the best possible way.
I don't really have something similar to recommend because I just clicked on the special because I recognized him from the movie, but I can tell you what I've been watching lately. I like Katherine Ryan, she has two specials on Netflix and a mini series called Duchess and I also watched Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin's Ladies Night Live. I thought it would be only their show, but they're mostly presenters. Some comedians were funny, others not so much and perhaps a bit too much emphasis on the pandemic, but I'm not surprised. Oh, and I also watched Ronny Chieng's Speakeasy, also on Netflix.

Live from Los Angeles, it was Wednesday eve. Loved spending it with Television Academy Hall of Famer, Laraine Newman. I was a little down-and-out post-new Moderna vax, but thanks to Laraine, I swiftly forgot all about it.  She took us through her early childhood, finding her place with the funny. From neighborhood street plays, and school theatre with classmate Paul Reubens, to becoming a founding member of The Groundlings with her sister, Tracy Newman, to Lorne Michaels and Lily Tomlin discovering her for a special which then led to Saturday Night Live. Arriving in New York to some trauma, the SNL experience, characters that transitioned, writers, castmates, running with Gilda, feeling left out with Garrett, drugs, American Hot Wax, Stardust Memories with Woody, a Beatle, the Stones, better drugs, 5 years later, always working, voicework becoming the thing. Motherhood and mazel, Celebrity Autobiography to her audible memoir, May You Live in Interesting Times, available here: https://bit.ly/48opI8M.  I savored every moment.
Whip-smart, brilliantly funny, and deeply insightful, I cherish Laraine’s talents & her friendship. I adored spending this time in her good company. Brava!

'80 for Brady' Cut Gus Kenworthy's Gay Kiss Scene It's hard to imagine there would be complaints about a buddy comedy starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field as old friends making a pilgrimage to the Super Bowl to see Tom Brady (other than the fact that it asks us to at least feign a passing interest in football). The plot of 80 for Brady reads like a fever dream, featuring a hot-wing-eating contest with Guy Fieri, Rob Gronkowski-themed erotica and Billy Porter as Lady Gaga's halftime show choreographer Gugu, but it turns out the film could have been a hell of a lot gayer if Gus Kenworthy's gay kiss didn't end up getting cut.The Olympic freestyle skier recently revealed that his brief cameo alongside M3GAN actor Brian Jordan Alvarez as bickering boyfriends was initially supposed to culminate in the two making out but ultimately never made the final cut. “They used the script for one take, but then we did it like four or fives times where we would just ad-lib insults at each other and then make out,” Kenworthy told Variety, teasing that “some of them got raunchy.”Related | Tom Brady Enters His Thirst Trap EraRepresentatives for Tom Brady, who is also credited as a producer on the flick, and Paramount Pictures said in a statement that the scene was “cut from the film for pacing reasons" but Kenworthy suspects there may have been another reason why it ended up on the cutting room floor. “They said they had to cut it for time, but I think they cut it for Middle America.” See on Instagram Kenworthy did say that he hopes the kiss will see the light of day if they ever release a director's cut, jokingly imploring the studio to "release the tapes!” Fortunately for Kenworthy fans, 80 for Brady won't be the athlete's only appearance on the silver screen if all goes to plan. Kenworthy has apparently been hard at work honing his acting chops, taking classes and auditioning for a wide variety of projects. Most recently he appeared on Fox's reality series, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and he's expressed a desire to star in a gay rom-com one day if the stars were to align.“Honestly, it would be something similar to Bros which we just saw," Kenworthy said in an interview with People. "I loved romantic comedies. To this day, they’re still like my favorite movies. I just think it’s such a great formula and I would love to get to plug into that and play the lead of a rom-com, but also get to play gay would be a dream.”Photo via Getty/Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic https://www.papermag.com/80-for-brady-gus-kenworthy-2659394435.html

The cast includes Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, Guy Fieri, Rob Corddry, and Tom Brady. With this much talent assembled this movie is sure to win some sort of award or trophy. I was hoping that this movie would have these women as hardcore with their fandom as anyone else. I just feel something special from the moment the trailer opens and we see these women in the whole football montage to their interest in reading Gronk erotica. These are some really fun moments in the movie that I am sure will end with these ladies meeting Tom himself. I am already excited about their journey and I can't wait to see this comedy release in theaters. That's al I have for this one... Read the full article

TV Shows Ending in 2022: ‘Grace and Frankie,’ ‘This Is Us,’ ‘The Walking Dead’ and More
Tumblr media
Not ready to say goodbye! Every year TV series inevitably come to an end, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to let our favorite characters go.
After a rocky few years of facing filming delays and premiere pushbacks amid the 2020 and 2021 COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 television slate came out swinging.
Fan favorites such as Grace and Frankie, This Is Us and The Walking Dead all prepared to bid farewell to viewers, even though many TV lovers weren’t ready for the end.
“We are both delighted and heartbroken that Grace and Frankie will be back for its seventh, though final, season. We’re so grateful that our show has been able to deal with issues that have really connected to our grand generation,” stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, who play Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, respectively, said in a joint statement in September 2019. “And their kids, and amazingly, their kids as well! We’ll miss these two old gals, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans will, but we’ll still be around. We’ve outlasted so many things — just hope we don’t outlast the planet.”
Brooklyn Decker, who played Grace’s daughter Mallory Hanson on the Netflix hit, gushed over working with the two legends while saying farewell to the show in April.
“This has been the privilege of a lifetime. Thank you to our writers, our crew, our cast, our partners and families,” Decker wrote via Instagram on April 24 ahead of the final chapter of Grace and Frankie’s Netflix drop later that month. “I can’t believe it’s been 8 years, I still can’t believe we were shut down during a pandemic and then able to come back and finish it out perfectly.”
The Ohio native continued: “To all who have laughed and cried with us — thank you for watching, thank you for being along with us for this ride. To the women pictured, [Tomlin, Fonda and June Diane Raphael], you all mean so much to me. I’m the luckiest lady in all the land.”
The cast of This Is Us, has been vocal about wrapping its sixth and final season throughout 2022. The family drama, which will end on May 24, stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley.
“I think what I will miss most about [playing] Kate is that, like, I think so many people — not even just women — relate to her and her walking imperfectly through her trials and tribulations, and all the shame and guilt that she’s carried for so long,” Metz exclusively told Us Weekly in January. “And it’s really sort of like a torch that she’s carrying and I think … that’s a really special thing, to meet people that I’ve never met before and be able to cry in bathrooms with them about what they’re going through.”
Scroll down for a complete guide to all the TV shows that have ended or will come to a close in 2022:
