The idea that language is a game at which some players are more skilled than others has a bearing on the vexed relationship between loneliness and speech. #nimona #can you guess what i just watched?#i thought it was pretty alright #but the more i think about the implications the worse it becomes #the warping of history to benefit a narative those in power tell the people #idk this part just really struck me #they did such a good job with the transition of actual gloreth to the idolization of her #the juxtaposition of a child with a wooden sword #scared and wanting to be accepted by her community #and the imposing statue wielding a golden sword in the middle of the city #it was all about fear #we dont even know if the “monsters” are multiple #or just a single lonely girl #wanting to also be accepted by a community #the implications this movie presents is just aahhh

What does it feel like to be lonely? It feels like being hungry: like being hungry when everyone around you is readying for a feast. It feels shameful and alarming, and over time these feelings radiate outwards, making the lonely person increasingly isolated, increasingly estranged. It hurts, in the way that feelings do, and it also has physical consequences that take place invisibly, inside the closed compartments of the body. It advances, is what I’m trying to say, cold as ice and clear as glass, enclosing and engulfing.
