Supercorp fics if you hated the identity reveal & reconciliation
some alternate identity reveals...
A Girl From Midvale | ThisOldThing
L-Corp CEO Lena Luthor thinks her girlfriend, journalist Kara Danvers, is just a girl from Midvale, and not telling Lena the truth about her identity as Supergirl is eating away at Kara. She doesn't tell Lena because Alex and the DEO have asked her not to, because they are suspicious about L-Corp's possible ties to Lex, Lillian and their anti-alien terrorist activities. What happens when their truths come out? Can they all forgive each other when things fall apart?
We Deserve Only Good Things | ThornedRose44
“Are you Lena?” The girl jolted in her spot on the sofa, hugging the bear closer to her chest. “Yes.” Even though Kara had known it from the second she had laid eyes on the child, the confirmation still managed to take her by surprise. “Who are you?” Lena asked, trying to sound as confident as she could. “Oh, my name’s Kara.” Kara replied warmly, taking a step forward, eager to move closer to offer reassurance before halting the second she saw the younger version of her once best friend flinch. “It’s okay,” Kara quickly soothed, “It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.” Lena peered over the top of her bear’s fuzzy head, “Promise?” Kara knelt down and smiled brightly, “Promise.”

Following Lex’s defeat, Kara and Lena are struggling to rebuild their friendship and let go of the hurt caused on both sides when Kara and Lena work together to help an alien return home. To show their gratitude for being saved the alien provides the two of them a chance to close the rift still between them. How? By getting them to meet each other's younger selves.
neon signs | contagiousiridescence
It’s not that Kara doesn’t want to repair the broken bridge between Supergirl and Lena-- quite the opposite, in fact, but Lena had been excruciatingly clear with how she felt about Supergirl now. Kara had reeled from those words days after. They settled deep in her chest and crackle with pain every time she breathes. They are a grim reminder of what Kara had done, and what she continues to do. Mrs. Arias had been right; she could bury it deeper and deeper, but it would always come back to blow up in her face at triple the strength. She’s caught between love and hate, and it’s a very odd position to be in.
Maybe We Were Destined For Tragedy | Me
You’ve never been just Kara Danvers to me… You really were my hero.
Post season 4 identity reveal, Lena deals with the reality that her best friend has been lying to her for years. Her champion. Her home. The one person who she felt truly understood her in this cruel world. Her person.
In which Kara and Lena make their way back to one another - aka the season 5 replacement.

A Christmas Miracle-Chapter 1
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Lena Luthor, Kara Danvers, Ruby Arias, Santa Claus, Streaky the cat
Summary: After her last two breakups, Lena doesn't think there is love out there for her. However, will Ruby's wish to Santa make Lena a believer in miracles?
Lena stood in line scrolling throw her email on her phone. She sighed because she had finished all of her work emails and was bored out of her mind. She looked down next to her and saw her six-year-old niece Ruby still jumping up and down full of energy. They have been waiting in line for over an hour to see Santa. She was honestly surprised that she had this level of enthusiasm. When she was her age, she would have thrown a fit. However, Ruby had been the perfect example of patience and positivity. It caused Lena to smile. She wished that she had that level of positivity. With Lex trying to kill her constantly or trying to take over her company, she honestly was surprised she hadn’t gone insane. If it wasn’t for Ruby, Ruby's mom Sam, and Lena’s stepmother Lillian, she probably would have.
Lena was jolted out of her thoughts when she heard Ruby scream, “It’s our turn, Auntie Lena!”
Lena looked up to see Ruby sprinting to Santa’s lap. Lena chuckled and quickly followed.
Santa pulled Ruby up on his lap and asked, “What is your name, dear child?”
Ruby beamed and said, “My name is Ruby!”
Santa smiled and said, “It is nice to meet you, Ruby. What kind of gifts are you looking forward to for Christmas.”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I don’t need you to bring me presents this year Santa.”
Santa frowned and asked, “You don’t?”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I need your help with something very important.”
Lena was startled. She never thought that she would see the day that Ruby would forgo presents. She was quite curious about what she considered more important than a Christmas gift.
Santa looked at her quizzically, “Okay, what problem are you having?”
Ruby turned to Lena, pointed, and said, “I need a miracle. My Auntie Lena needs help.”
Lena looked baffled and said, “Ruby, I don’t need any help.”
Ruby turned to Santa with a worried look on her face and said, “She is lying. She thinks that love doesn’t exist. I need to make her believe again.”
Lena chuckled nervously and said, “Ruby that isn’t true. I believe that love exists. I love you, your mommy, and your grandma Lillian very much.”
Ruby rolled her eyes at her. She turned back to Santa and said, “She’s nervous because she knows that is not what I mean. She doesn’t believe in finding true love anymore. Auntie Lena is awesome and deserves the best true love in the entire world.”
Lena started rubbing the back of her neck and laughing nervously.
“Ruby, I have taught you that you don’t need to be in a relationship to have a successful life.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “You are sad all the time now since Andrea left. When I sleep over at your apartment, I hear you cry in your room at night wishing she would come back.” She turned to Santa and said, “Please don’t bring her back into her life. My mom said that she is a bad word, but it does rhyme with witch.”
Santa tried to stifle a chuckle. Lena looked at both of them mortified. She always thought she hid her emotions well around Ruby, but clearly she was wrong. Her last two relationships nearly destroyed her. When she was in college, she had dated Jack for 4 years. She thought that her relationship with him was going well until he bailed. Stated that being around her was a hazard. By that point, Lex had tried to kill her three times. The third time Jack took a bullet that was meant for her that put him in the hospital for three months. She was devastated that he broke up with her, but at least she understood it. Being with her was a hazard, and while she was willing to be his ride or die, she understood him not feeling the same way.
Lena stayed single after that for two years until she met Andrea. She was a force of nature that swept her off her feet. She constantly surprised her with trips, flowers, chocolates, and love notes. She felt so loved and spoiled. Lena wanted to spend the rest of her life with her and often was scared that it was too good to be true. And it was. A couple of months ago, a hysterical woman broke into her building demanding to see her claiming Lena stole her wife and destroyed their family. Lena thought the lady was nuts until she had her private investigator do some digging and found out that Andrea not only was married but had five kids. She was devastated. What made matters worse was that Andrea’s wife sold her story to a popular tabloid. Now Lena not only gets blamed for Lex’s shenanigans but she is considered a homewrecker too. As much as she hated Andrea, she still wanted her back and that made her feel terrible. She wished that she could get over her. She barely left the house other than to go to work because it was one of the few things that kept her distracted. That and baking. Her house has been overflowing with baked treats like bread, muffins, and cakes since she left Andrea. Today was Lena’s first outing somewhere other than work in over three months. She only came because Sam agreed to go to a conference she had been avoiding hosted by Morgan Edge in Metropolis. She said the major thing Lena would have to do was to take Ruby to see Santa. Lena thought it would be a quick trip in and out. Now, Lena was regretting that decision.
Lena forced a smile and said, “I know that I was sad, but I am doing much now.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “No you're not. Sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what you want in a true love.”
Lena sighed. She was starting to become frustrated and she didn’t want to draw attention to herself.
“Ruby, dear. I don’t need anyone for Christmas. I am fine. I promise you.”
“No you’re not!” shouted Ruby while becoming teary-eyed.
Lena was on the brink of tears. She knew that Ruby meant well, but this was all too much.”
“Ruby, if I sit on Santa’s lap and tell him my Christmas wish for a partner, will you drop this and never speak of this again.”
“Yes!” Ruby beamed.
Ruby hurried up and got off of Santa’s lap so Lena could sit down. Lena rolled her eyes and gradually went to sit on Santa’s lap.
“How does this work exactly?” muttered Lena.

Trying Really Hard
Kate Bishop X Fem!Reader
Prompt: Kate really likes you despite the two of you being really great friends. Unfortunately, you also caught the attention of famous billionaire Lena Luthor. When Lena starts giving you gifts, Kate takes it upon herself to do the exact same, doing her best to outdo the other billionaire.
WC: 2.5k
Tumblr media
Warning: nothing
_________________________
Kate had always liked you. Ever since she joined the Avengers and Clint had introduced her to you, she was head over heels. Despite being all bubbly, she was nervous to be around you at first. But that would all fade away because it seems the two of you instantly clicked. It was an unnatural chemistry where friendship bloomed so quickly. All of it only made Kate more and more awestruck with you, the crush growing more and more inside of her. Yet, despite all of the build up, she never made her move to make anything more serious.
It would all change one day. You were in a seemingly happier mood, a mood that was different from the one Kate had seen. Sure you were happy, you were always happy around her, laughing at movies together, messing with Clint Natasha and Steve, making bets as to Kate’s archery limits. This was different, the smile on your face had different intentions behind them and it wasn’t helping that you were holding flowers in your hands.
Kate was playing with the hung up dartboard in the living room, Carol was watching tv, and Wanda was reading a book. All activities cease when they see you. Carol, raising an eyebrow in slight concern, “What’s gotten you so giddy, sport?”
You shrug your shoulders, trying to play the excitement off, “nothing.”
Though your response wasn’t enough to convince the three of them. Wanda tilts her head at you, “is it because someone gave you that book you always wanted?” She asks.
You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks as you shake your head vehemently, “stop looking into my head,” you wine.
“I didn’t need to, your thoughts are loud enough,” she replies making herself and Carol laugh. Meanwhile, Kate just sat there, heart violently thumping her blood and fingers playing with the dart to try and distract her.
“So, who’s this lady?” Carol asks curiously, “Is she cool?”
Without warning, Kate intervenes in on the conversation before you could speak, perking up from her seat to face you, “Are we still up for bowling later?” She asks you.
You purse your lips, “Not today actually, but are you free tomorrow?”
Her words get caught in her throat for a split second. You would never skip out on activities with her, not unless you had a mission. And last time Kate checked, you were clear for the whole week. Maybe it had something to do with the woman who was clearly flirting with you. Not wanting to push it further, Kate just accepts it, “yeah, I can make time.”
“Sounds good,” you say with a grin.
You leave with the widest smile on your face, but what you hadn’t seen was the disappointment that laced Kate’s, the hurt expression.
“Are you going to do something about that?” Wanda asks.
“Hell yeah, I am,” she retorts, getting up from the couch to go to her room.
_________________________
Later on that day, she had gone to her family business, searching through files and files of people. It didn’t take long for the name to show up on the Bishop security profile. Lena Luthor. Of course. She’s the technological genius billionaire, borderline Tony Stark. The other band of heroes living on this earth fighting metahumans while she fights everyone else. From what she recalls, the Luthors, specifically the other parts of Lena’s family, were involved in responsible for a lot of metahuman atrocities and they were extreme narcissists. If you were to end up dating Lena, your head was definitely going to be on the plate of many of her enemies and that thought didn’t sit well in her stomach. That and she doesn’t like the idea of another billionaire flirting with you, especially one who doesn’t deserve you. The last time Kate checked, Lena only knows you because you’re part of the gang of avengers. She doesn’t actually understand you.
The thoughts that were persisting almost made Kate break the keyboard. No. She refuses to lose the love of her life to some rich woman with a sketchy family.
She manages to find the best roses the city could offer. Today was the day she was going to tell you everything and she just hopes you feel the same exact way. She struts into the main lounge where you normally sit reading a book or watching a movie with one of the other avengers. Instead, she was met with Natasha and Clint who were both watching some reality show. The two’s attention becomes fixated on Kate when they notice the flowers in her hand.
“Are those for me?” Natasha quips jokingly.
“No, that’s for her pre-school crush on Y/N.” Clint retorts making the two laugh even harder.
Kate rolls her eyes at both of them. She waves the flowers close to her chest, “I’m going to tell her once and for all.” She beams with pride.
Clint raises an eyebrow, “Is it because of that Luthor lady? The other genius billionaire? Yeah, some competition we got here.”
Natasha gently whacks him, “I think Kate’s got this in the bag. That woman can give Y/N everything but she can’t win Y/N’s heart,” she encourages.
Clint blows a raspberry “Yeah, don’t get her hopes up, Nat.”
Kate lightly glares at Clint, “thanks,” she retorts sarcastically.
He gives back a joking thumbs up.
The conversation suddenly ceases when you walk through the other side of the lounge. Kate immediately hides the flowers behind her back.
“Hi, Kate,” you say with a smile, “Nat. Clint.”
“What brings you here, kiddo?” Clint asks. He then eyes something in your hand, instigating his curiosity, “what’s that?”
You pull out a box, “oh this?” You ask, “Yeah, Lena got me some tea bags from Italy. Her friend flew there for her.”
Kate could feel the lump growing in her chest. Natasha glances at the tea box for a while, “some friend.”
You laugh nervously, “yeah. You can say that.” You point towards your room, “anyway, I should put this away now. Kate, don’t forget the movie starts at 6 and we still have to head to the cinema.”
It takes a second for Kate to come back into reality, her mind circling in multiple different directions. It wasn’t until she felt your warm hand on her shoulder, she snaps out of her thoughts, “what? Oh wait. Yeah, yeah. I’ll be ready by then.”
You smile at her one last time before disappearing to the quarters. Somehow, you didn’t notice the roses that she was hiding behind her. Speaking of the roses…
“Hey, what are you doing?” Clint questions.
They watch as Kate opens one of the garbage lids and out of nowhere, she angrily stuffs the flowers inside. It catches both Natasha and Clint off guard.
“Those were nice flowers!” Clint replies.
“Not anymore,” Kate retorts in defeat.
He gets up, noticing that the young Avenger needed some comfort. He gently pats her shoulder. “I’m sure her super friend can’t get something outside the planet. You have Carol, ask her to get you something as a favor?”
“-and Wanda and the rest of us,” Natasha adds.
The feeling of motivation builds back up inside of her, “You’re right! Clint, Nat, you genius!”
“Uh, it was my idea,” Clint corrects.
Without warning, Kate springs outside the living space.
“What do you think she’s planning?” Clint wonders in concern.
“Probably going to make Carol get her some space device,” Natasha replies.
He grunts in disproval, “kids these days.“
_______________________________
One moment your room was empty, the next, it’s filled to the brim with gifts. You don’t understand what you did to get Lena Luthor’s attention. You met the woman once at one of Stark’s gala’s because Stark needed someone to occupy the guests, so he had chosen you. The next thing you know, you’re getting chocolates, tea, and gifts from all over the planet. You weren’t complaining though, but you were starting to get worried that Lena was probably doing all of this to court you, an idea that didn’t come into mind until Yelena pointed out that you were about to be knee high in chocolate.
At the same time, Kate wasn’t helping to the gift giving capacity either. Out of nowhere, she started giving you some lavish gifts. It started out as small trinkets from around the world, but that would start escalating with the world’s rarest books for you to read, meteorites from other planets which only questioned where Kate was buying these things more. Yet, the cardinal difference between Lena’s gift giving and Kate’s gift giving is that Kate’s only made you feel even worse about yourself. You didn’t have anything to give her back and with all that you two had gone through, she was such a good person to you, and if you ever needed anything you could always rely on her being there. That and her gift giving was also making this whole feeling thing a little more dangerous. Kate’s gifts were personal, thoughtful, proof that she listens to you, and it was getting harder and harder to deny the feelings you had for her.
________________________________
“Are you kidding me?” Kate groans, slamming her head on the refrigerator door.
Carol, who was sitting by the countertop eating her cereal gives Kate a quizzed look. “What?”
Kate throws her hands up, “Apparently Lena’s going to ask Y/N on an actual date, now.”
“Shouldn’t they have gone past that step yet?”
“No, they better not.” Kate glares. She looks through her phone, “Apparently Lena’s going to fly her in one of her private helicopters around the city.”
Carol scoffs at the stupidity of the idea, but when she turns to look at Kate, she notices the small glint in her eyes. Kate was going to buy herself a helicopter. “No, Kate. She doesn’t need that.”
“Yes, yes she does,” she replies adamant.
“Why would you want to copy Lena’s idea?” Carol argues.
Kate pauses for a moment, “Fine, then let’s use one of your spaceships.”
“You can’t even pilot one!”
“Someone can teach me! I can one up her. Why show her the city when I can show her the whole world?” Kate replies.
Carol groans heavily, “why can’t you be simple and take her somewhere nice?”
“Space is nice! It’s cool!.” She practically gets down on her knees, pouting, "Please Carol? Please? For me?”
If it weren’t for the fact Carol was on Team Kate and that she also didn’t want you associating yourself with the super friends, she would’ve definitely said no. But because she also likes happy endings, she agrees, “Fine, but you better make this your final.”
Without hesitating, Kate extends her hand for a shake, “Deal.”
__________________________________
She takes in a deep breath, anticipation coursing through her veins. Today was the day. This time, along with the supplemental spacecraft that she managed to get from Carol, she also managed to get you a nice box of chocolates, nothing fancy, but they were the box of chocolates she knows you like. She finds you in your room on the phone.
“Hey,” Kate waves.
You wave back before pointing at the phone in your hand. You were on a call with Lena making Kate wait there patiently. You watch from your peripheral vision as the young Avenger bounces on her heels while gripping an inconspicuous box in her hand. A heavy sigh and murmurs later, you end the call, running your hand through your hair.
“Is everything okay?” She asks.
You shrug your shoulders, “now it is.”
“Well, I got you something to make you feel better,” she says. She outstretches her hand before lifting the box cover revealing all of your favorite chocolates.
“Oh Kate,” you say with another heavy sigh. “It’s okay, you can have it.”
“What? No, this is all for you,” she says adamantly. “That’s why I got it all in your favorite flavors.”
You shake your head vehemently, “Kate, how am I supposed to pay you back if you keep getting me more and more things? Especially if some of them are above my pay grade?”
“You don’t have to, that’s why it’s a gift.”
“Then that just makes me a bad friend,” you argue.
She pouts, slight annoyance coming into her veins. A friend? Seriously? "You never make efforts to pay Lena back.”
"That’s different. She was trying to court me, but I don’t like her back,” you reason, "You and I are friends. I would be a bad friend if I don’t have anything for you.”
Kate doesn’t know what provoked her to speak up, but hearing the word ‘friend’ attached to her name was irritating her. “Well, what if I don’t want to be just friends? What if I’m giving you these things because I want to get you the best things so I have an excuse to see you more? What if I want to see you all flustered and smiley whenever I give you something that you genuinely like because, unlike Lena, I actually know you?”
It was all too late for Kate to take the words back. Your mouth gapes open, stunned at her words, “-Kate.”
Your reaction only stung her more, “You know what, I get it if you don’t like me back. Let’s just pretend none of this happened and you can go on with whatever you were doing-”
Her eyes were starting to sting and tears were getting ready to fall down her eyes. “Kate, wait!” The pain was more than any punch, shot, or kick she could take. She begins walking away, getting ready to bleach her existence from your life. Yet, she feels something grab her hand, forcing her to stop where she stood. She turns and you were right in front of her. “I didn’t know you liked me back, too. If I knew, I would’ve told you the moment you started getting me these things.”
She quickly wipes a tear from her face, but when she processes what you said, her eyes shoot up to look at you, “What?”
You place a hand on her cheek, “yes, I do. You want to hear me say it?” You ask, softly. “Because I love you.”
Without warning, you feel your lips collide with her’s. Her hands wrap around your waist and your hands fling to your shoulders. The both of you are enveloped in each other, moving together in a steady rhythm. When you both pull away for air, her forehead rests on yours. “I love you,” she confesses, “like I love you a lot.”
You laugh softly, before melting more into her grasp. She lets in a happy sniffle.
“Oh and Y/N,” she starts, “now that we made it clear that we like each other, do you want to go on a space trip with me? Just you and I looking at Earth from afar?”
You raise an eyebrow, “Is this because you heard that Lena was going to take me on a helicopter trip around the city?”
“Please? I had to convince Carol to teach me and let me fly one of the quinjets.”
You pull her into another kiss, “yes Kate. I would love to.”

by BottomByKatieMcgrath, KuchikiKaoru
Kara went on a mission with the Legion of Superheroes after a fight with her best friend Lena Luthor. What she doesn't know is all the journey she had to go through before returning to planet Earth, but the thing is, she now calls herself Kara Mormont and lives as a farmer in Scotland during the day while at night she helps other aliens adjust to life on Earth along with her new family.
Lena never thought she would see her best friend again after so long, but why doesn't she remember her, and more importantly why doesn't she want to take up the mantle of Supergirl again?
Or where Kara becomes a knight of House Targaryen and returns to Earth because she remembers Lena Luthor's look, but not her name.

anyways while we’re on the subject of sg medical trauma. i feel like lena has an eating disorder. gonna talk ad nauseum about it under the cut.
developing an ed was kind of inevitable, i think, with the way the luthors policed her body growing up. her diet, exercise, supplements, etc, were regiments so strictly regulated by the luthors. and the results were relentlessly examined too - after all, if this bastard child has to bear the luthor name, then at the very least she has to wear it well.
in her adult life, as the luthorcorp ceo, it’s that same spotlight her adoptive parents put on her but...bigger. ruthless in new and different ways. social media gossips and tabloids openly speculate over her wait, print headlines about pounds she’s allegedly gained and crash diets she’s allegedly failed at. and the pregnancy rumors, always accompanied by a grainy pap photo with her protruding stomach circled in bold red ink, pop up weekly. her male coworkers laud her a bitch, a dyke, a fat pig, in various degrees of openness; even her female coworkers, trying to be supportive, tend to trigger her with ostensibly caring comments about a diet their sister successfully tried or a weight loss doctor their cousin raves about.
and so being in a relationship with kara is complicated for her, body image wise. because kara is quite literally inhumanly gorgeous, with a sculpted figure that every sapphic national city twitter-user thirsts over on the daily. and (in this little headcanon lena is fat btw bc truly that’s what we deserve) lena’s....not. not skinny, not muscular, not ‘mainstream attractive’.
but kara, somehow, loves her. all of her, kara claims, including her body. she presses kisses along her tummy before going down on her, traces loving fingers and lips over her stretchmarks, waxes poetic about how she wants to suffocate between lena’s thighs. reassures lena that no, her arm fat doesn’t look ugly in that dress, but if it would make her feel more comfortable, she can borrow kara’s supergirl cape to cover them up.
which is one thing.
but more than that, kara eats.
she gets belly bloat after downing an unholy amount of pasta. she devours carbs and sugars and fats without care. she scoffs at the idea that ‘food is fuel’, instead indulging in what she wants when she wants because it’s an opportunity to bond with family members over a meal, or because she trusts her body when it tells her it’s hungry, or just because it fucking tastes good. food isn’t evil, isn’t something that needs to be caged and regulated - it’s a source of pleasure, a vessel to facilitate interpersonal connection, a way to cultivate her old culture and heritage.....
she never criticizes lena’s eating habits, never so much as remarks when a package of oreos goes missing from the pantry only to be found empty beneath the bed later that day because lena still feels so much fucking shame about binging. she doesn’t comment on how weird it is that lena sometimes holds her plate in her lap, beneath the surface of the dining room table, because it makes it easier for her to eat when the food she’s consuming isn’t being perceived by anyone; she doesn’t condemn lena for wasting food when all she can manage is a few bites.
which is not to say that kara doesn’t try to help. she sends lena a poem one time, something about how you shouldn’t cut up your body into pieces for individual scrutiny because it is whole and it is good. she starts bringing lunch to lena’s office every weekday when lena admits that eating at work is particularly difficult for her, and she communicates with lena to develop a system where lena wordlessly indicates whether or not she wants kara to stay and chat with her during her lunch break based on how lena positions her desk calendar that afternoon. she uses nailpolish to paint intricate designs on lena’s nails when she notices that lena’s been picking at her skin more than usual, the art later serving as a reminder and source of strength for lena to help stop herself from caving in to the compulsion. she prepares snacks when she notices that lena hasn’t eaten in a while and wordlessly leaves them on the kitchen counter as a low-pressure way of encouraging lena to eat and helping reduce the amount of energy it takes lena to eat.
and when things get bad and kara notices that lena needs help help, she communicates with lena every step of the way, going out of her way to give lena agency and information.
so it’s complicated. recovery is weird, and anything but linear, and lena still has good days and bad days.
but she realizes that all of the days are markedly better now that she has kara by her side.

My Girl, Lena
My Girl, Lena
A Supercorp Fanfic
I don't remember anything but the pain, and being an alien on Earth that's something I have never had to really deal with, in the physical sense of the word. The world around me was black, it’s all I saw. And what I could hear, was it all. My sister, my cousin, my allies, my enemies. “Kara,” they all seemed to scream, some with care, some were seething. Some of them threw parties, and some held vigils.
I wasn’t dead, I was weak, I was asleep.
Touch
Sight
Hearing
I was bedridden, why I’m still not sure, as time moved the voices settled, or maybe my mind settled on a voice, on a heart. Cool and collected. She sounded like she was the President. They way she commanded everyone around. Soft spoken but stern. Clear, and decisive. A powerful woman, she sounded like she towered over me.
And her scent. Very fruity. She leaned over me and I smelled coconuts, which must have been her hair care products, I felt her hair brush over my face.
So, she is tall, and she wears her hair down, and has a voice that would distract anyone who bleeds. I heard her whisper, “I’m sorry,” for what? I don’t know. I can’t feel anything anymore, but my mind is black, my world is black. It’s okay, you have nothing to apologize for.
“Kara,” it was the softest I have ever heard my name spoken, and honestly it was the only way I ever wanted to hear it again. She visited everyday. I felt like a celebrity. I’m just a girl from Krypton. I listened to her talk about her dates, she likes women too. I wonder how she feels about aliens. She has this light laugh, and I often wonder if her smile stretches from ear to ear. Does she only smile like that for me? She most certainly only uses that voice for me.
She leaned over me again today, and I’m almost certain it was her body wash. How? I didn’t feel her hair on my skin. But the scent of strawberries moved closer, as did her pulse, was it also getting faster?

The world is blurry around my vision. I’m in a hospital, but it also looks like some kind of prison. There are wires, and cords inside of my skin, so I pulled them out. I don’t feel pain, but an annoying alarm went off. The door shot open and this short woman with long black hair ran in, she wore a white coat, and had some kind of tablet in her hand. She was wearing a blue blouse and I’ve never seen that color blue, or a blouse that looked like it was on its last leg of life.
“Kara,” she said in panic. It’s her. She’s shorter than I thought she was going to be.
“Softer, please.” I grunted. “Say it like you say it when you visit me every day.” My request was simple.
She had tears in her eyes, and I’m not quite sure why, “Kara,” she said softly. There it is.  “Kara, I’m so glad you’re awake, we’ve all missed you so much.”
No one else matters as I reached out for her hand. “I love you, whoever you are. I have fallen in love with you, and I didn’t know what you looked like, but your soul is beautiful, you don’t allow yourself to be held down by your struggles, and the woman from your last date doesn’t deserve a second chance.”
“Kara, it’s me.” She seemed horrified to say that. I don’t know her, I only know of her. What I’ve listened to however long I’ve been in this hospital, this prison.
“Who is me?” I asked, as I ran a hand through my hair. Was it always this long?
“Lena Luthor, your best friend.” Before I knew it, this Lena Luthor was leaning over me again, my face in her breast, not a bad place to be. She was crying, she was whimpering, and she blamed herself. She has nothing to apologize for.
Her tear drop fell to my lips, and in the saltiness I tasted all of her pain, everything she kept within. Long nights, and early mornings.

And then I remembered.
I remembered the way she made me feel the first time we met. A woman adopted like me, trying to make a name for herself, like me. Proud. Strong. Independent, and often a target. Also, like me. She wasn’t just any woman. She was the woman. She never once put me down for my eating habits. Never gave me grief about having to run off to save the day. She was my biggest cheerleader. I was that to her. All these feelings, my body is hotter than usual. All these thoughts in my mind, I need to let them out.
“I know you’re going through a lot, but I’m in love with you. Your name doesn’t scare me, because I know your heart. And I’m sorry if this is too much to hear, but I know we would be amazing together when you’re ready. And I just hope it’s okay that I’m saying all this, because I never want to lose you again. And I know I’m rambling but I’m nervous, and I just hope it’s okay that you’re in my head like this.”
She held onto the sides of my face, I think that vein on her head is going to pop, her face is red, and her eyes are filled with unshed tears, and then she smiled. That beautiful Lena Luthor smile, “Kara, you’re delicate right now, but I love you too.”
She leaned in to kiss me, and I pulled her into the hospital bed with me. I don’t want to live in a World where I don’t know this woman. My heart aches for her, my soul lives for her, and I’m in love with her. We’ll do amazing things, just you wait and see. Because she’s, my girl. My girl, Lena.

Gone Rogue.
Part 1 - Easy Target.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Alex Danvers x Niece!Reader
Word Count: 2365.
Warnings: Angst. Hurt.
You’ve been happy. For too long, you tell yourself. You should know that it doesn’t go on like this for eternity. You know better than to think your life is a series of concerts with your family, game nights, and awesome festivities.
No, that’s not your life. Your life is enjoying the ocean with the people you love, happy and carefree. And then, suddenly, blinking and realizing you went too far. Now you’re alone in the middle of the ocean, and no matter how much you scream, people can’t seem to hear you.
And much like being stuck in the depths of the ocean, you get this paralyzing, terrifying fear that you’re going to run out of oxygen, and something -or in this case, someone- is going to pull you down so deep, you’re going to hit rock bottom.
And this happens. Oh, sure it happens. It’s you. So when you realize, you’re being pulled down low really fast. Extremely, painfully, gut-wrenching fast. Making you think that maybe that’s where you belong. That’s what you deserve. To be down so low, you can’t even see the end nor the beginning.
The most awful part of it, though, is that you don’t even know if you’re going to be found. You don’t even worry if you’ll be found with any life still on your body, you just wish that you are, regardless. Whatever you tell yourself, that this is your life, and you should be ready by now, you are never really ready for it.
Great water metaphor you just spotted yourself being sucked into. But well, it’s hard to think of anything else when you’re literally being waterboarded as you go.
How the hell did you get to this point?
Oh yes.
It all started sixteen years ago (in all realness seventeen, but let’s ignore the factuality side for the sake of this). Kara and Lena thought it was an awesome idea to not only reproduce, but to have a kid with their best traits. Superpowers and geniality. It all sounds good, on paper.
Because now that you’ve decided to embrace both of your great features, you see yourself getting more and more into situations like this.
You can’t help but wonder how life would go for you if they had chosen what you think are their best traits. Lena’s gorgeous looks, and Kara’s always sunny personality. Man, doesn’t this sound like the perfect person?
Yet, you’re here. Superpowers weakened by kryptonite, and geniality lost up in there while your mind gets foggy and fuzzy with no oxygen, and the only thing you can think about now is death.
Don’t you contemplate death too much for a 16-year-old? No. It’s probably the same amount as any other teenager, right?
“Tell. Me. Her. Name.” You feel the mask being lifted off your face and your mouth and nose fight to take as much air as you can to fill your lungs again, before the mask goes back down. “This will stop as soon as you tell me Supergirl’s name.”
There’s no air in your lungs, you fight to answer. You want to say something, but you can’t. Words stuck inside your brain, fighting to make sense. Sure you might have forgotten a lot of things already, even how to speak, but you haven’t forgotten her name.
“SAY IT!” This scream is punctuated with a punch on your face. You suck on air, finally feeling like you’re not going to pass out if you speak.
“Her name is-” You look up to the masked man looking down on you. You see a tinkle on his eyes -the only thing you can see from him-, it makes you bitch grin. “You’re gonna have to kill me to get it off of me.”
“Stupid little bitch.” The mask goes down your face one more time, and you suck as much air as your lungs can take, knowing what comes next. “Let’s see what you have to say when we’re done.”
His firm grip on the nape of your neck just gets firmer, as he pushes you down and pours water on you.
She would do this for you.
But that’s not why you’re doing it. You’re doing it because Kara and Lena have taught you a million things in your life, but the most important one is to do the right thing. This is the right thing. Although, if you’re being completely honest, you don’t think they would agree to it, looking from the outside to this scene.
This scene being, by the way, your arms wrapped behind your back, kryptonite slowly piercing your skin, a brown cloth over your head, and water being poured over you. Holy shit, how far you’ve come to die like this.
You twist and turn and struggle out of your restraints, feeling your raw flesh bleeding harder. The sting on your wrists almost calls attention to it, but then the kryptonite comes weighing over you, making the sting go all over your body.
You also should be used to feeling the pain of kryptonite by now. The nausea, dizziness, slow loss of consciousness and burning pain. But fucking hell, how does one get used to the feeling of nails razing the inside of your body?
If that wasn’t enough -it isn’t, it never is-, you can’t breathe, your lungs are getting filled with water, your mind is lazy. You’re fighting to stay awake. To stay alive. You’re doing an awful job at it.
Your body begs you to give up. To stop trying. Stop fighting. Just let it go. It’s easier.
The water pouring over your face is making your mind hazed and confused. Why are you fighting? Who are you fighting for? You don’t remember.
You can feel your heart slowing down; Your eyes involuntarily closing; Limbs going numb; Head lolling.
When you’re seconds away from just giving in, he lifts your mask. It’s automatic, the sucking on air, and thank Rao it is, because you don’t have it in you to do the thinking process turned into action kind of thing right now.
“Ready to tell me yet?”
You don’t answer. Partially because you can’t do anything except for breathing hard, partially because you don’t even know what he’s talking about anymore. All comprehensive thoughts lost up there.
Your head lolls down, uncontrollably. Your eyes flutter. Are you still dying?
But somehow, despite the blurry vision, you see your necklace hanging on your neck, over your supersuit and a -maybe- final thought comes to mind. They’ll find you.
“Why…” You try to talk, it’s not easy. It’s taking everything that you have to do so. “Don’t you… Ask her?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” He grabs a fistful of your hair and pulls your head up so you can look at him.
You smile. Relieved and bold. But also completely inconsequential given the situation you’re in. “She’s coming.”
He looks up, as if Supergirl would immediately crash down the ceiling and end him. She doesn’t, obviously. But at least you got inside his brain.
“Well, let’s see if she’ll make it in time then.” He pulls your mask down and you hear him walking away. You can’t see what he is doing, so you’re left thinking what the hell did he mean by that. “Look at you, all wrapped up and in shades of red.” Blood, he means blood. He means the absurd amount of blood he drew from your body. “I think my Christmas gift came in late, but it’s a bang!”
You try to see it through the tiny spaces in the cloth. You’re astonished. What the fuck is this asshole talking about now? Is this situation getting worse?
“Hope your pretty face stays intact.” And with that he leaves, you reckon, as you hear his steps getting farther away until there’s nothing. And you are left a lonely whimpering mess on the ground.
You don’t know what he means by any of that. But your mind is less foggy, so you work hard to put two and two together.
Time.
Bang.
Face intact.
The low ‘tic tic’ sound you can hear.
He set off a bomb. Fucking hell!
The open cuts on your body stings harder. The kryptonite pierces deeper. The low ‘tic tic’ in the background suddenly becomes too loud and it’s all you can hear.
You barely register when Kara crashes through the ceiling, rushing towards you. She takes off the mask over your face. “Little one, oh, my heart. I’ve got you.”
Your eyes roll to the back of your skull. Kara holds your limp body close to hers.
“Hey, hey, stay awake. Eyes on me. Eyes on momma, come on, my heart.”
Kara finally looks at the mask on her hand, the water around your body, your wet hair, and clothes. She gasps loudly when she realizes what was happening. She dries your face with her hand, but the tears falling from her eyes are making it wet again.
“Bomb.” You manage, and she snaps her head up. She hears it too.
Kara puts you down gently and uses her super speed to find it, running to it and examining it. “It’s a kryptonite bomb, we have to get away from here.” She goes back to you, removing all of your restraints and the kryptonite that is almost glued to your skin by now. She’s flying with you in her arms in no time.
You’re not far when you hear the bomb going off behind you. If she were a minute late, you would’ve exploded with it.
“You’re safe, baby. Mommy’s got you, ok?” She whispers, as she flies. And you breathe, actually breathe for the first time since this whole thing started. And then you cough violently, and water comes out from your mouth like you were just saved after you drowned. Which you did.
“Rebel.” Just his name sends shivers down your spine. Still, she needs to know.
“I’ll catch him, baby. But we need to take care of you first.”
Your eyes flutter, finding some rest after the craziness you’ve been through. Your mind says it’s ok to stop working now, you’re safe.
“Hey. No, no, no, no. Eyes on me. Stay with me, little one. Just a little bit longer. We’ll be there soon. You can sleep once your aunt tells you it’s ok to.”
You try. You ignore the haziness creeping back into your brain. Over-exposure to kryptonite. Must be one of the reasons. You try to do it for her. But your body is in pain, your mind is tired. You gave everything you had to keep Kara’ secret. You gave everything you had for her. You can’t give more.
So you close your eyes.
When you wake up, you’re in the med-bay of the DEO. You hate this place. You loathe everything that happened to you in your life, that has sent you to this place. You dread the amount of time you were sent here in so little time. You despise that every time you open your eyes here, you see your moms worried looks towards you. You think, this must be the place you hate the most in the universe.
“My baby.” Lena throws herself over your body. Face wet from tears, wetting your ridiculously bloody supersuit.
“I fell asleep.” You explain to Kara, who’s holding your hand like you might just disappear.
“It’s ok, my heart. Alex said that after everything that happened, it’s amazing you stayed awake for as long as you did. I’m proud of you.” She kisses your hand reassuringly, Lena kisses your forehead, and you sigh.
You get it now. It took you an absurd amount of time to understand, but now you do. Kara didn’t want to let you go supering before you turned 18. You’ve always thought that was some nonsensical rule.
So you think about Jamie’s life. At home with her moms, and Ruby and a teeny tiny, cute baby that knows nothing about the harshness of the world. Just spoiling him and being loved while feeling completely safe. That’s it, that’s how she feels. Because when Alex clocks out of the DEO, she is not Director Danvers anymore. She is a mom. Protector, loving, kind of bossy. When Sam clocks out of L Corp and goes home, she is also just a mom. Tender, loving, friendly.
But then again, not you. You’re out saving the world, while doing your homework and inventions at L Corp. You’re feeling in your skin what it is like to be hated, be hurt, be torn apart by your greatest weakness, be left alone in the dark. You’re learning all kinds of new fears. Space, water, people. And when you go home, you still don’t feel completely safe. Because Kara never clocks out. She can’t clock out when Supergirl is a part of who she is. She is not just a mom. She is, first of all, the Earth protector, the savior. When Lena clocks out of L Corp and goes home, she is also not just mom. She is a Luthor. And that word says too much already.
So you get it now. You get it why Kara wanted you to wait. And moments like this make you wish you had. But now it’s too late. Now Superkid is known, is counted on, and she is an easy target.
“We’ve got him.” Alex announces it, going into the med-bay. “He is in containment while Brainy tries to get something out of him.”
“Good. Great.” Kara says, then she turns back to you with a loving expression. “Baby, is there something we should expect? What do you remember?”
“He wanted to know Supergirl’s name.” You answer, and your eyes are filled with tears right away, just remembering his voice and methods.
Kara’s face drops. It’s because of her. She gets it now how it’s all her fault. She gives your hand another hard squeeze, kisses your forehead, then turns around. “Well, then. I’m going in.”
“Supergirl, he only wants to bargain.” Alex explains.
“Then let’s bargain.” She leaves the room with Alex on her tail. You look at Lena, both of you with tears in your eyes. This feels far from over.

how many more times can Kara say shit like "The Luthor name doesn't deserve Lena" and "You're the only person in the galaxy I know who'd do right by it" and "It's only because you're on the team that I'm here" before she just lets the “I love you” slip and lean in for a kiss

AU - Lena Luthor Saves Krypton
Lena is somehow sent back in time and finds herself on Krypton 30 years before the planet explodes. Kara doesn’t exist yet. Krypton has no idea what’s about to happen to them.
Lena realizes that with her knowledge of what’s to come and intellect to devise a solution, she can do two things. One, she can save an entire species from near extinction. Two, she can save Kara from ever having to experience the pain of losing her family, her home, and being abandoned. Kara could live a happy life and never know the burden of Supergirl or being the last daughter of Krypton.
So instead of trying to find a way back to Earth, back to her own time, she settles into life on Krypton, becomes fluent in Kryptonese, and sets about with a spectacularly single-minded focus of changing the future - to save this dying world (and Kara).
She succeeds...mostly. They can’t fix the damage that’s already been done to the planet. Their sun will die and destroy Krypton still, but with Lena’s help they’re able to locate a barren planet in another system that has a white star. It’s brand new, strong, and will live for untold trillions of years (provided Kryptonians didn’t try to harness its power again).
They terraform the planet and create “New Krypton” using the dome concept that Zor-El invented fused with Coluan bottling technology. All Kryptonians are instantly transported to their new home that’s identical to the old one save for one difference - the white sun grants them god-like powers that are beyond what Lena ever saw Kara and Clark capable of on Earth. Kryptonians are overwhelmed en masse by these powers. Some go power mad and attempt coups and form radical sects. Others realize the gift they’ve been given and, with Lena’s guidance, Kryptonian society develops under a new mission - to travel the galaxy and offer help to all those in need. Not just offering knowledge and technology this time, but themselves with their newfound powers.
Lena keeps her distance from the House of El as much as she can. It’s nearly impossible considering their standing with the Kryptonian High Council. Lena has to work very closely with the Council. Jor-El and his brother, Zor-El, are brilliant scientists and statesmen. Alura In-Ze is a rising star in the judicial system. Her marriage to Zor-El, second born son of the House of El, caused quite a few waves, but when Lara Lor-Van, a brilliant biologist and prominent noble of the House of Van, agrees to marry Jor-El, it’s all anyone can talk about. All 4 of them live very public lives due to their professions, their positions on the High Council, and their nobility.
They’re ever so fascinated by Lena Luthor, the human from Earth that appeared one day to save their entire planet. Their savior. The one their people have named “The New Dawn”. Lena wants nothing to do with the House of El. It’s too much. She can’t bear to be so close to Kara’s family without Kara. It feels wrong. Unfortunately, with how much Lena tries to avoid them, the 4 nobles think they’ve done something to offend her, and constantly attempt ways to make amends. It only makes Lena’s life that much more difficult.
But she still knows the exact date and time that Kara Zor-El steps into existence. Later, she will know the moment Kal-El is born (mostly because Lara’s natural birth is all anyone can talk about).
Lena meets Kara on New Krypton entirely by accident one day when Zor-El brings his brilliant young daughter, a prodigy in the Science Guild, to see Krypton’s finest laboratory entirely unannounced. The same laboratory that Lena founded and runs. She’s stricken, having tried to avoid this moment for as long as she could, knowing that eventually she’d have to see Kara as child, which would spell the end of every fanciful dream or slightest hope she had of a chance that someday she would find Kara, her best friend, again. Seeing the reality both warms her heart and breaks it all the same. This bouncing bundle of joy and inquisitiveness has the same blinding smile, in all its purity, with that same head of golden hair.
“You’re THE Lena Luthor?”
She kneels before her so they’re at eye level. “I suppose I am. And you’re THE Kara Zor-El?”
The ten year old gasps. “You know who I am?”
“Of course. I know all the important people. And you are a very important person, Kara.”
“I am?”
Zor-El interjects. “I’ve told Lena all about you, my dear. I’m sure she’s grown tired of my endless babbling about my wonderful daughter and her keen scientific mind.”
“Not at all,” Lena replies a bit flatly and tries to tune him out as she focuses on the young girl who will one day be a most extraordinary woman. “Do you enjoy the Science Guild, Kara?”
“Yes! I love to learn new things. As many things as I can! Sometimes father asks me to work with him in his laboratory at home and I help him with his projects!”
“That does sound like fun. I enjoy creating things as well.”
“You’re the most brilliant bio-engineer on Krypton! I’ve read all about you! You saved us.”
Lena shies away from the praise and instead fumbles her way forward, uncomfortable under the scrutiny of Zor-El, whom she’d never given the time of day until he walked in with his daughter.
“Tell me, Kara, do you like other subjects besides science?”
Kara fidgets, a little confused. “Well, I don’t...they don’t give you much time for other subjects. I-I do try to read about other things like art and history when I have free time, but I’m not really allowed—“
“She’s a hard worker and a wonderful student,” Zor-El interrupts again.
Lena ignores him. “Do you enjoy writing, Kara?”
“Writing?”
“Creation comes in many forms. I enjoy being able to create things with my hands. Machines. Technology. Things to help people. Science is my passion, but there are many other ways to help people. Ways that I’m not very good at, but others are. Writing takes a curious mind, creativity, and a way with words. I believe you might have a gift for that.”
“A gift for words?” Her little brow crinkles as she considers it.
Lena nods. “A writer can do a great many things that a scientist cannot. They are equally as powerful and important. What matters is doing what you love most, what inspires you most. You’re going to do great things one day, Kara. Maybe with the Science Guild, maybe with something else... The future is limitless for you.”
“You really think I could be that important someday?”
“You already are.” Lena smiles and breathes deeply. “Do you know what your name means where I come from?”
She shakes her head. “I have read about Earth. It’s very far away and my Aunt Astra says their civilization is primitive and filled with savages. They have my name there too?”
“Daughter, do not speak—“
Lena waves off Zor-El’s warning without looking at him.
“That’s not an unfair assessment of Earth compared to Krypton, but I do believe humanity would surprise a great many Kryptonians, including your Aunt. In my native language, Kara means ‘beloved friend’.”
Kara beams in a way that is so achingly familiar. It’s like an echo in Lena’s memory. Not exact, not complete, but the beginning of what it will become.
“I like that. Does that mean I’m your friend?”
Lena feels it in that moment. The melting warmth simultaneous with the absolute shattering of what was left of her heart.
“I will always be your friend, darling. Always.”
Kara leaves with her father and Lena’s coworkers are concerned when she goes off planet for an impromptu holiday without notice. She returns two months later and picks up as if she never left.
It’s around that time that one of the people she’s befriended in her years on Krypton remarks at how ageless she seems for a human that supposedly has a short life span. It sparks Lena’s curiosity. Indeed, it’s been nearly 30 years since she traveled back in time and found herself on a new planet. Yet you’d be hard pressed to find a single physical difference. Kryptonians aged slowly under a red star, and even slower still under the white star, but Lena was human. Her body wasn’t designed to accommodate solar radiation the way Kryptonians did. She was over 50 years old now, yet she still didn’t look a day over 28.
More years pass and New Krypton thrives. The galaxy is brought together through New Krypton’s diplomacy and thousands of planets and species are united under a banner of peace. There are always dissenters, but happiness and prosperity is widespread. Lena finds joy in friendships and attempts romantic relationships, but nothing ever really takes. Still, she’s content. She misses Earth, of course, and hopes to return one day before she dies, whenever that will be, but she’s found peace in knowing that she is able to be the one thing she’s always wanted - a force for good.
She’s at dinner with coworkers one night when Lara and Jor-El spot her. She sighs and straightens, preparing for their next attempt to get in her good graces.
“Do they never desist?” One of them mutters next to her ear. “Surely they’re intelligent enough to know when they’re not wanted?”
“Don’t be unkind, but help me keep it short if it goes on too long.”
“Lena! It’s wonderful to see you,” Lara says.
“You as well. How are you?”
“Very well, thank you.”
Lena’s table has gone conspicuously, and therefore awkwardly, silent.
Lara and Jor-El look around at the group uncomfortably.
“We were wondering...well, our niece is being inducted to the—“
“The Science Council as First Order,” Lena finishes for her. “Yes, I’m aware. It’s a great honor. I’m sure the House of El is quite proud.”
“Indeed we are,” Jor-El jumps in. “She’s a most remarkable young woman and we couldn’t be prouder of who she’s become.”
“We are holding a celebration to mark the occasion and were wondering if you might honor us by attending? It will be quite the event.” Lara does a slight eyeroll. “Jor is insisting on all the fantastical things.”
Jor-El nods enthusiastically. “My brother isn’t one for celebrations so I’ve taken up the mantle. Kara deserves all the praise she’s earned with her hard work and dedication.”
“You’ll have to forgive my mate’s enthusiasm. He’s quite invested in Kara since she can share his passion for his life’s work while our son is—“
“Disgustingly hopeless,” Jor-El grumbles.
“Oh?” She raises an eyebrow. “A great disappointment he’s been then?”
“Goodness no!” Lara shakes her head and shoots a warning look at her husband. “Kal is a fine boy. Just...a little lost.”
“Perhaps he is simply in need of a different path than the one his father has in mind,” Lena finds the words tumbling out of her mouth without thinking twice. The couple stares at her agape, but she continues without care. “I can certainly sympathize with the need to step out of the shadow of a family’s overbearing legacy.” She sighs. “While I thank you for considering me, it’s simply not possible with my days usually booked from dawn to dusk. Besides, parties have never been altogether pleasant endeavors for me.”
The disappointment on their faces isn’t what changes her mind. It’s that as soon as she says the words, she regrets it. She’s, of course, kept up with Kara’s doings and was concerned when she heard about the recent move in the Science Guild. Was journalism just a secondary passion since she couldn’t truly use her mind on Earth the way she could on Krypton? Or was this a woman just following in her family’s footsteps because she believed it was the right thing to do? Lena hadn’t seen or spoken to Kara in 16 years. Not since the day Zor-El brought her to the lab.
In the end, it’s Lena’s concern and curiosity for Kara’s well being that wins out. Though she very well knows that the woman that existed in another life, on another planet, is not the woman who lives here now on New Krypton. Even if she shared the same name and the same face...maybe even the same bright eyes and sunny smile. Even then.
“Send me the invitation. I’ll see what I can do,” Lena says, to the surprise of everyone at her table, including the two standing next to it.
They nod, stunned but pleased, and say their goodbyes quickly, walking away.
Lena’s coworkers all turn to her in surprise, but she refuses to answer their questions and excuses herself early for the evening.
She doesn’t show for the celebration. She torments herself for a week coming up to it and can’t bring herself to go. The fear of the past and her memories being trod upon are too strong. But somehow she finds herself in the Starling Grove anyway, just as it comes to an end. The evening is late and guests slowly make their exit after the long day of partying. Lena practically sneaks in, staying in shadows, not knowing what she hopes to find or what she could see that would make all her fears come true.
Is it any wonder that fate would intervene? That there would be no circumstance in which Lena could fly so close to the sun and not be touched?
“If avoiding people is your specialty, you’re very skilled at it.”
It’s almost terrifying to hear her voice again. It’s a different language being spoken, but the voice is the same. As if it’d been snatched from the deepest recesses of Lena’s memories, of a different life and a different world, and brought to the present in flesh and blood with a bolt of lightning.
She turns and it’s Kara smiling at her. Not the sunny smile. The soft, tender, reassuring one. The one that she used to share with Lena when she had one of her harder days. Kara was no longer the small and precocious child she met all those years ago, the one that she could almost convince herself was a complete stranger and that there was no connection between the child and the woman she knew. But that was gone now. The Kara standing before her was the same one she’d left behind on Earth. The one she’d given up in order to save her. The one who walked into her office so many years ago, trailing behind her cousin, and Lena knew she was done for.
Her eyes were so blue as she looked at her...bluer than Lena remembered and it seemed so impossible. Perhaps it wasn’t real. Perhaps she was dreaming. But she wasn’t...was she?
“My skills must be rusty since you were able to catch me.”
Kara put a finger to her smiling lips. “Shh. Finding people is one of my untold gifts.”
“I imagine you have a lot of those.”
Kara looks pleasantly flustered and she stammers over her words in a way that Lena knows so well that the sound of it squeezes her heart in a vise like grip.
She’s not the same person. She’s not your Kara. Your Kara doesn’t exist anymore. Over and over she repeats this in her head.
“Wait...” Kara finally collects herself and peers at Lena more closely. “You’re-you’re Lena Luthor! My Uncle said you might be here, but I never thought...”
“On my home world, they like to say it’s fashionable to be late. However, tonight was just a tad bit too far. I...I simply wanted to stop by and wish you well. A-and to congratulate you on your achievement.”
Did she manage to say that with any passing conviction?
“Thank you. That means a great deal coming from someone like you.”
“Are you happy?” She blurts before her good sense can kick in. “This life...does it make you happy?”
Kara looks at her oddly for a long moment, clearly thrown, but not put off. Lena doesn’t know what else to say that could fix her blunder.
“Yes,” she says, a serene smile creeps across her face. “I’m very happy. I love my family and my friends. I enjoy my work. I hope to have a family of my own one day, but I don’t mind waiting for the right person. Everyone always wants to rush me into something, telling me that I shouldn’t be alone, but I don’t mind it. When it’s right, I know that it will be worth the wait.”
Lena’s heart stutters and freezes. “I-I’m glad to hear that. Truly. I shouldn’t take up anymore of your time though. I’m sure you have somewhere to be and it’s late so I really should be going anyway.”
“Oh! Um. Yes, of course.” She looks disappointed, but Lena can’t think about that. “Thank you for being here.”
Her legs feel as though they’re weighted with cement as she walks away. Her mind screams at her to run, but her body doesn’t seem to get the message. She doesn’t want to leave Kara’s side. Not like this. Not after she’s found her again.
But it’s not her. Not really.
“My Lady?”
She turns around at once. Kara stands there, fiddling with her hands, her head tilted to the side.
“Apologies. I-I remember reading that you never liked that title. You prefer...what was it...” She closes her eyes as she searches for it. “Oh!” Her eyes fly open again. “Miss Luthor. I should have addressed you as ‘Miss Luthor’, yes?”
The ‘Miss’ was heavily accented and sounded nothing like how she used to say it, but it still tore Lena apart.
“I never forgot what you said.”
The voice in Lena’s head screams again for her to run, but instead she draws closer. She needs to hear it.
Her Kara.
No, it’s not her.
“What did I say?”
“I was a little girl. My father brought me to your lab to show me around.”
“I remember.”
Don’t let her do this. Don’t let her pull you in again. You can’t. For both of your sakes, you can’t.
“You talked about different ways of creating. Of passion. It’s silly, I know, and I’m sure you say it to all the children who read about you in school and have a serious case of hero worship, but...you told me I was important.”
“You are.”
It’s a reflex. She can’t help it.
“And you said that I had a gift for words. I never understood why you would say that. How you could know...”
Lena chuckles awkwardly. “Looks like I was off the mark since you’ve just joined the Science Council.”
“But you weren’t.”
Lena’s breath hitches.
“I’ve never told anyone else this...”
Kara steps closer, sharing a secret that Lena doesn’t know she deserves to hear. She wonders if she still knows how to breathe with Kara being this close after so long...so many years gone...
“I started writing that day. That very night I went home and I tried it. I never stopped. I’ve never been happier than when I’m writing. Imagining stories or just writing my thoughts, putting memories into words, keeping a record of each day and what I’ve done, who I’ve seen, what my first thought is in the morning and my last thought at night. All of it.”
Kara was so close. She could smell her. Nothing like what she remembered. It was something altogether new and still...still... Lena’s heart beat so loudly, she was sure every Kryptonian within miles was wondering what that raucous drumming noise was. What must Kara think? Surely she could hear it. Lena was embarrassing herself.
“You inspired me.”
Lena doesn’t know how she manages it, but she somehow strings together coherent words.
“But you continued to pursue...”
“The Science Guild, yes. I’m very good there. It comes easily. It makes my family proud.”
“It’s not your passion though.”
Kara shakes her head gently.
“What stops you?”
“Well, what if I’m not really good at writing after all? I’ve never told anyone about it. I’ve never let them read anything... What if I make a terrible mistake and humiliate myself and my family?”
“Following your heart isn’t a mistake.”
“That’s not a very Kryptonian sentiment.”
“No, but it is a human one.” Lena sighs. “I tried so hard, for so long, not to listen to mine. But it won out every time. Despite all the pain it brought me...I remind myself that it’s what brought me here. To this planet. To this time. To do good. To be good. Following your heart is the most terrifying notion, but in my experience, it has also led me to the greatest moments of joy and love that I’ve ever known.”
Kara stares at her in wonderment. Her long blonde locks flow over her shoulders. Her dress is white and flowing, almost luminescent under the glow of the evening flowers blooming in the garden. It became quickly apparent how very alone they were, the last guests and servers from the party were gone. The torches were still lit, but it was their own world.
Wasn’t it always?
It’s not her.
“I don’t think I could be as brave as you.”
“You have always been brave and I know that you are capable of the most extraordinary amount of courage...courage and boundless hope. You are the one who inspires me, Kara. You always have.”
“Me?” She replies in the softest utterance. “But I haven’t done anything nearly as incredible as you.”
“The kind of person you are is far more important than any sum of career achievements. Don’t let fear make you hide in the shadows, Kara. Step into the sun. You’ve always belonged there.”
“What about you?”
“Me?”
“When will you step out of the shadows, Miss Luthor?”
A voice calls for Kara in the distance. It’s jarring and breaks the spell that seemed to lock them together in time suspended.
They step away, now acutely aware of how close they’d been this whole time.
Kara blushes and opens her mouth to say something, but Lena can’t bear to hear it.
“Goodnight, Kara Zor-El. I hope you enjoyed your party.”
Another voice joins the first. Two people are calling for her now. Kara seems frustrated and turns back, yelling to them that she’d be there soon.
She turns back. “I—“
But Lena’s gone.
She leaves New Krypton again. Journeys to other planets under the guise of a holiday and scientific exploration. She wonders if now is the time to return to Earth. She can’t even call it home anymore, but it’s home...isn’t it? 45 years could be enough to make New Krypton home and maybe it was. Maybe it was more of a home than Earth. But New Krypton had spectres walking among the living. Lena’s past had caught up to her here as well. She was no longer alone. Would Earth be any better with a reminder at every street corner? A certain smell. A park bench. A pair of glasses. Food. All of the food on Earth. She would never truly escape there either. It has to be a different planet. Not New Krypton, not Earth, something else entirely.
She searches across galaxies for it. Finally, one appeals to her. She can see herself settling down there. She can make a new life for herself...again. She returns to Krypton with determination. She resigns from her position, ignores the High Council’s pleas, ignores their more pointed demands, and even their attempted orders when it appeared that nothing else was working. She packs her things and bids farewell to her friends. They’ll visit now and again, but soon she won’t be seeing them at all. It doesn’t bother her all that much. She’d find replacements eventually. No one had ever been like... Well, she’d never let anyone get close enough to try.
She was walking out of her building for the last time, her luggage already sent ahead, and was headed to the transport when she heard her voice again on the wind, calling her name. Of course she would hear her now. This was exactly why she needed to leave this place. The sooner the better to end this torment.
The transport doors were nearly closed when a hand shot between them. The metal alloys were crushed in a powerful grip and the doors were jerkily pried open again.
Kara stood in front of her. Her hair windswept, almost what it used to look like when she would fly to Lena at breaking speed to rescue her. Did she fly here? Was she really here?
“Kara?”
“Lena, don’t go.”
“What are y—?”
“That’s government property!” someone shouts at Kara from further away.
A Kelex zooms in beside her. “And you were flying within city limits which is strictly prohibited. Unfortunately, Lady Kara, this means we must place you under arrest.”
A patrolman, the one who shouted, walks up behind Kara, nodding his head in agreement.
“Arrest?” She rolls her eyes at the Kelex and turns to the patrolman. “The doors were an accident and sorry about the flying thing. I’ll pay the fines. I doubt Alura In-Ze will take kindly to you dragging someone in for petty infarctions, let alone that someone being her daughter.”
Lena finds herself walking out of the transport, entirely of her own volition, and watches it leave without her. Kara is arguing with the patrolman over what her fines should be, but suddenly Lena feels someone take her hand. She looks down and sees that indeed there is another hand holding hers. She drags her gaze up to find those blue eyes again. A ghost. A spectre. Everything she was trying to escape.
“I’m sorry to just...burst in on you like this. But you’ve been gone for months and I only just heard that you’d come back, planning to leave New Krypton for good. I didn’t...”
“You didn’t what?”
“I don’t know.” Her brow furrows in frustration. “I didn’t plan this. I just...when I heard, I felt like I had to stop you.”
Lena pulls her hand away and crosses her arms. She needs to get ahold of herself. This was all so out of control.
“Why?”
Kara is just as bewildered as she is. “Well, I...I’m not sure. But we’ve only just started.”
“What?”
“Don’t you feel it? I know you must.”
She swallows thickly. “Kara, I...”
“I think there’s a lot you haven’t told me. A lot that I hope you will tell me. You promised me once that you would always be my friend. Please, Lena. We both know that this...it’s not supposed to end here.”
“When is it supposed to end?”
“I hope not for very long time.”
“I’ve lived a lifetime already.”
Kara grins. “Then what’s one more? Should be easy if you’ve already done it.”
Lena shakes her head. “You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“Somehow I do...and I don’t. I know it’s strange. I know what I sound like. But I think you understand. Don’t you?”
“Kara...”
“Are you hungry?” She interrupts. “I’m famished. The flying thing is really fun, but I always get so hungry after. How about it?”
“I’m supposed to be boarding a ship in 20 minutes.”
“We can eat fast!”
“I know you can eat fast, that’s not the point,” she mutters. “I have to go.”
“But you see? You say things like that. Like it’s normal to just know these things about me, but it’s not. How do you know? We’ve only met twice and both times it feels as though you know everything about me.”
“Everything?” She scoffs. “No. Never.”
“Well, the important things anyway.”
Lena falters.
“Please? Just...for a little while? There’s always another ship if you really must go.”
No.
No, I’ve been through this before. I saved you. I saved your people. You’re happy. I don’t belong here. I’ve never belonged. This is your world. I don’t belong anywhere. I did what was right. I helped people. I still help people. But I won’t do this again.
“I’m pretty sure you know that a Kryptonian can tell when you’re lying. The white star brought us untold abilities. And the longer I’ve lived here, under this new sun, I’ve discovered more abilities. Would you like to know about them?”
Lena can only stare.
“If I’m close enough...and I concentrate hard enough...I can feel what you’re feeling. It’s not mind reading exactly, but something deeper. I can feel you right now.” She swallows hard. “What have I done to cause you such pain, Lena? I never thought that... If you have to go, I won’t stop you. I just thought...” She sighs defeatedly. “I don’t know what I thought. But it wasn’t this. It wasn’t pain. Or anger. Or betrayal.”
Lena’s eyes widen at the same time as Kara’s. She seemed to realize it only as she spoke the word aloud.
“Betrayal?” Kara whispers, half to herself. “I don’t understand.”
“There’s nothing to understand.”
“You’re lying.”
“Stop it.”
“I can’t! Tell me what’s happening. How can you be so angry with me, but also feel...like this...when we don’t even know each other?”
“But we do.”
At last she admits it.
In the quietest whisper.
“We did. Once. In another life.”
Kara nods slowly. “Where?”
“On Earth.”
“I’ve never been to Earth.”
“Not in this time. But in another...you were Earth’s Champion. Our Protector. The Paragon of Hope.”
“As you are the Protector of Krypton? Our Salvation. The New Dawn.”
Lena shrinks uncomfortably under the titles.
“Will you tell me more?”
“You believe me?”
“Of course I do. You’re Lena Luthor. Also, with my powers I can sense you’re telling the truth, so...” She shrugs lightly at that, a sheepish smile.
“Right. Well, I admit I’m still a bit resentful that after everything I’ve been through, I still didn’t get even a hint of those powers.”
Kara takes her hand again, tentatively this time. She probably thinks Lena will pull away.
She doesn’t.
“There’s been a rumor for ages that you’re immortal. Are you saying that’s not true? From what I’ve read, humans have a shorter life span than us. Your species only live about 85 years or so.”
“I’ve heard the rumor and, yes, the average human lifespan is shorter than a Kryptonian’s.”
“You look pretty darn good for your age if you’re preparing to join Rao in a few cycles.”
Lena has to laugh. She lets Kara lead her away from the platform and down to the street. They walk hand in hand.
“So you’re not immortal?”
“It remains to be seen.”
“Then maybe our white sun did give you a hint of something after all.”
“Maybe. I have yet to ascertain the cause.”
“I could help you with your study, should you choose to explore it further.”
“You want to study me?”
Kara blushes. “I...I didn’t mean it like that. I only meant—“
“I know what you meant.”
Silence falls between them.
“You’re still holding my hand.”
“You’re still letting me.”
“It’s strange.” She stares. “You’re different. You’re so different than you were before, a completely different person, but somehow...when I look at you, you’re exactly who you’ve always been.”
“Are you different now too?”
“Yes.” She shrugs. “I think so anyway.”
“But we’ve still found each other. That means something.”
“Are you sure you want to hear this? You might be angry with me. I...I made choices that changed your life. A great number of lives.”
“I want to hear everything. But even if I do get angry, I won’t leave. I promise.”
Lena starts at that. How could she know exactly—? The realization hits her.
“My fears...you feel them right now, don’t you?”
Kara nods. “I won’t betray you, Lena. Whatever mistakes I’ve made before...in that other life...I won’t make them again.”
“You’ll make other mistakes.”
“Of course!” She laughs. “I’m gifted, but hardly perfect. You’ll make mistakes too, even if you are the Great New Dawn.”
“Two prodigies...” Lena raises an eyebrow. “I don’t know how people stand us. We must be insufferable to be around.”
“I can’t be held accountable for the jealousy of others.”
Lena chuckles. “Good to know you’re as competitive as ever.”
“And you? Are you competitive as well?”
“On occasion...when it comes to the right things.”
Kara grins. “Tell me more about Earth.”
“Earth or...you on Earth?”
“Both. Or just one. Whatever you like. We have all the time we need. We’ll get to it eventually.”
“Kara?”
“Yes?”
“What do you want?”
“You.”
“How do you know that?”
“I just do.”
“You’re not afraid?”
“Of losing you? Yes, I’m afraid. I thought I did when you left me in the Grove that night.”
“It’s different this time though.”
“Different how?”
“You were afraid before. O-on Earth. So you lied to me. Hid things from me. You were afraid I’d reject you.”
“So I lost you anyway?”
“For a while.”
“I know who I am and I want to share all of that with you. I’m afraid I’ll lose you if I don’t. Do you think that means I learned my lesson with a second chance?”
“Even though you don’t remember the first?”
Kara tilts her head thoughtfully.  “Are you familiar with the theological concept of reincarnation?”
Lena nods.
“Many species and cultures detail it differently, but the belief that a soul does not reside in an afterlife fascinates me. The idea that one could instead be reborn and is destined to learn new lessons with each life that it failed to learn in the last. Maybe we found a way to do that without needing to die at all.”
“Are you sure you’re the First Order of the Science Council? Because that sounds an awful lot like preaching I’ve heard from the Religious Guild. You’re in the wrong profession.”
Kara rolls her eyes. “If anything, I should have joined the Artisans. But it’s too late for that.”
Lena’s quiet for a moment. They’re walking along streets she’s never seen before and doesn’t care. It doesn’t matter.
“I think I’m learning...” she says softly, “that it’s never too late. If you want something enough, it’s never too late.”
“I hope you’re right.”
Lena looks around. “Do you know where you’re going?”
“No, I thought you did.”
“No. I guess we’re lost then.”
Kara shrugs with a charming, sunny smile that lights her whole face. It’s the one that Lena hasn’t seen in over 40 years and it takes her breath away.
“Oh well.” Kara squeezes Lena’s hand happily. “I suppose we’ll find our way together.”

———
Miles, your eight year old son, has started to pretend he’s a psychologist. He’ll sit you down, with your head in his small lap (which isn’t very ethical), and ask you about your life problems.
Usually, you’ll make up funny nonsense that he’ll struggle to find the solution to...but today a very real problem has arrived, and you know you shouldn’t be trying to confide in your little boy about this, yet you decide to anyway.
He knows about you and Lena, though Lena doesn’t know about him. He saw her on TV once, was awestruck by her “smartness”, and you let slip that she’s the woman you’ve been dating.
Dating used as a loose term, because you and Lena haven’t actually become anything official. It’s...weird. Made even more so by the fact that she doesn’t know about the most important person in your life.
You tell Miles as much in today’s session. He beams down at you, happy that you’re finally starting to take his sessions seriously, and then taps his finger against his lip, thinking. “You should just tell her,” he finally concludes after a long pause.
You narrow your eyes up at him suspiciously, and wonder if you should just pretend to take his advice and move on. You don’t. “People usually don’t want to get involved with single moms.”
His eyes furrow at that, clearly upset, so you rush on. “If someone doesn’t want to be involved with you, none of me longs to be involved with them,” then, you pause, “I just want to want to be involved with Lena.”
“So this stems from past trauma?” Miles asks, and you gape at him, shocked.
“Where the f—when did you learn any of those words, honey?”
He grins at you again, clearly proud of himself, and then schools his face into an attempt of looking professional. It’s humorous. “Psy- Psych—”
“Psychology.”
“Yes, that. It says that our fears usually come for childhood trauma.”
“I’m not scared,” but even as you say that you know it’s not true. You make a mental note to watch over whatever the hell Miles is listening to, to make sure it’s age appropriate. “Even if I am, it’s definitely not from childhood trauma.”
“From relationship trauma then?”
You let out a shocked laugh, completely stumped. “Baby, your eight. If you keep saying smart things you’re going to start scaring me.”
“Let's talk about your fears,” He suggests. Clearly wanting to move on he gestures for you to sit up. Once you do, he hops up from the couch, grabs his clipboard from the coffee table, and starts scribbling down things you aren’t able to see.
“Okay,” you hesitantly agree. “I’m scared Lena will want nothing to do with me.”
“Why is that something you're scared of?”
You give him a confused look that he pays no attention to. “Obviously I like her...I also fear that you won’t.”
He nods, finally looking up from his clipboard. “And what happens if I hate her, and she hates me, so she leaves and you never speak to her again?”
You choke on absolutely nothing.
“What will you do then?” Miles asks, and you have no response for him. He doesn’t seem to want one. “You’ll deal with it, like you always have. So stop worrying until it comes. If it comes.”
You’re equal parts extremely proud of him, and extremely concerned as you think over what he’s said.
Then, as if he’s tired of being the smartest eight year old alive, he hands you the paper he was working on for half of your ‘session’. The paper is full of sharp lines that get more curvy and tangled the closer they get to what appears to be the middle.
“This,” he says, “is how you’re feeling.”
And you believe him.
———
It takes you a week to build up the courage to tell Lena about Miles. He surprisingly helped you come to the realization that holding off on telling Lena the truth won’t change the outcome.
In fact...it would probably make things more complicated. Even now, she deserved to know sooner than this.
It’s too late, of course. There’s no point in wishing you had done differently.
“Are you okay?” Lena asks through the phone, sounding so beautifully concerned over the fact that you haven’t spoken for awhile. God, you're whipped for this world-saving genius.
“Yeah,” you say, “just...you know how I said I had something to talk to you about?” You don’t wait for her to confirm, because of course she remembers, she’s looked scared because of it all day. “I sort of have to show you...so would you mind coming over?”
Yes, you’re a coward that’s hoping Lena seeing Miles for herself, instead of you telling her about him, will make her more accepting. Miles has a very convincing charm.
“You want me to go to your place?” Lena sputters, clearly shocked.
In an instant you regret the decision you were so sure about before. Maybe Lena isn’t ready. You should tell her before she comes, so she isn’t shocked out of her mind when she sees him.
You should—
“Okay,” Lena says, determined. You hadn’t even responded to her before. “I’ll be there soon.” And then she hangs up the phone before you manage to say anything, leaving you wondering what the fuck you’re doing.
You could call her back.
...you’re not going to. You’re too scared.
——
Miles waits by the door, dressed in his best suit. He knows how anxious you are about this, despite how hard you’ve been trying to hide it since your weird ‘session’, so he says he’s going to try and be the best him he can be.
You tell him that all he needs to be is his normal self and everything will be alright, but he admits to being nervous to meet Lena too, because she’s super smart. (He’s been watching anything he can find of her on the internet)
Thus, the two of you wait together impatiently, trying not to descend into madness.
——
At some point Miles starts making and handing you scribbles of how you feel, and you start making and handing them back.
It’s while you’re handing Miles your next piece that the doorbell rings.
He doesn’t look to be that nervous anymore, just excited, so he follows you on your track to answer the door, and with each step you contemplate your entire existence beyond Miles.
Then…Then you open the door.
Miles is hiding behind your leg, looking up at Lena with hesitant hopefulness and uncertainty, it’s the exact match of the way you’re looking at her, and Lena is looking at him with wide eyes.
Because you’re sure you’re about to die from the silence, you croak out a wobbly and quiet; “hi,” at the same time Mile’s sticks out his hands and says his own charming greeting.
“Hello, doctor Y/L/N here. Nice to meet you.”
“Lena Luthor.” As if on autopilot Lena shakes his hand. “You’re a doctor?” She asks, smiling the smallest of smiles at him.
He nods his head eagerly, glad she’s smiling. “Yeah! Of—of psy- psych...”
“Psychology,” You finish. Lena’s gaze switches to you. It’s the moment you think you’re gonna die, but her gaze is concerned instead of disappointed.
“He’s older than the photo on your wallpaper suggested,” Lena says.
Oh.
Oh…
You’re an idiot.
Then, Lena smiles—wider this time because of your dumbstruck expression—and looks at Miles. “To be a doctor you have to be pretty smart.”
He nods, his eyes practically full of stars.
“That’s how I know you and I are going to get along great.”
Miles grins madly, pushes you a bit to the side so Lena can come in, and says, eager, “can I show you my work, please?”
And Lena looks from you, to him, laughs a laugh full of amusement and endearment, and agrees gracefully. “I’d love it if you would.”
———
Lena adores Miles.
Around him she almost seems, impossibly, like a child herself. She so obviously and beautifully wants him to like her, and all the while Miles is almost exactly the same around her.
They’re both complete dorks trying to subtly get each other's attention and all you want to do is watch the two of them interact for ages.
They both were two separate parts of your life, and now they’re merged better than you ever expected them to.
It’s great. Absolutely great. But whenever they turn their twin gazes on you you’re sure you’re going to melt into a puddle of adoration.
Wow.
“What is it?” You ask them, after they’ve both looked at you for too long without saying anything.
Lena tilts her head, her smile concerned again, “you look like you’re about to cry.”
Miles nods his agreement. “What’s wrong mom? Does whatever bothering you stem from childhood trauma?” He asks, and at Lena’s ‘the fuck’ face you burst out into a fit of laughter, that quickly turns into tears of absolute love.
Both Miles and Lena looked at you with alarm because they don’t realize this is the happiest you’ve been in a while. It is though. It is.
“Not childhood trauma,” you assure them both, and before Miles can suggest it you add; “not past relationship trauma either, it’s happy tears.”
“Oh,” Lena stutters, “good.”
“Oh,” Miles repeats, sounding relieved and a tad bit disappointed. “I haven’t learned how to deal with those tears yet.”

“I’m so sorry, Lena,” A harsh cough followed the words and Lena felt her eyes begin to fill with water. She was kneeling in the broken streets of National City at Kara’s sighed, mindless of the destruction around them as the injured woman before her absorbed all of her attention.
“Hold on, Kara, just a few more minutes.” Lena found Kara’s bloody, shaking hand and grasped it with her own. Kara gave her a watery smile.
“We could’ve had so much time if I hadn’t been so scared.” There’s a strong current of regret in her tone and Lena feels as if she can’t breathe as she pulls Kara’s hand to her lips and presses a kiss against dirty knuckles.
“We’ll have time now, darling. All the time in the world.”
“I thought we promised not to lie to each other anymore.”
A long, uncomfortable pause followed. Kara’s breath grows more shallow by the second, but her eyes remain the same. The deep blue of her iris shines with that same adoration that Lena had always seen in them, and always felt unworthy of. Kara lifted the hand that Lena wasn’t holding on to desperately, ignoring the way her limbs trembled, to carefully cup Lena’s cheek.
This is the end. They both know it.
“No, Kara, please,” Lena can hear the desperation in her voice but ignored it just as resolutely as she ignored the tears falling from her eyes. Tears that Kara barely had the strength to gently brush away. “I can’t lose you again.”
“You never lost me, Lena, not for a single second.” The conviction in Kara’s voice is broken by the blood that slips past her lips as a cough tears through her throat. She collapses back against the broken asphalt after the fit subsides, landing on uneven ground with a pained groan. “I’ve always been yours, even when I wasn’t.”
The noise around them barely registers in Lena’s mind. The battle had been over for a few minutes at least, but Lena had paid no attention to the chaos around them. Kara, just as she had done since the day they met, commanded all of Lena’s attention. It isn’t until Kara coughs again that Lena realizes that she hadn’t been unconsciously blocking out anything going around them.
Kara’s cough echoes of the wreckage of a ruined city around them. If Lena had the strength to pull her gaze away from Kara’s slowly dimming eyes, she would have seen the veritable host of people around them falling to their knees as the consequences of this final battle hit home. They won, yes, but none of them thought that the cost would be so high.
Lena is dimly aware of another person settling on the other side of Kara, taking her hand and nearly gasping out Kara’s name in a choked cry. Even with the addition of Alex with them, Lena doesn’t tear her eyes away from Kara.
“I know, darling,” Lena grips Kara’s trembling hand tighter, wrapping both of her own around it and pressing a kiss to Kara’s knuckles again. “I think I always have. I should have said something sooner.”
“Better late than never,” Kara cracked a smile and just for a second, Lena could believe that she wasn’t watching the love of her life die right before her eyes. “Promise me something?”
“Anything.”
“Don’t blame yourself, for any of it.”
“Kara-”
“Promise me, Lena. None of this is your fault, or mine. It happened, and it sucks.” Kara smiled again as Lena released a rueful chuckle. “But you can’t let this stop you. Promise me that you won’t give up.”
“I promise Kara,” Lena leans over and seals her promise with a trembling kiss pressed to Kara’s forehead.
“Good.” Kara’s strength left her completely, her head fell to the ground and if not for Lena’s grip on her hand, the same would have been true of it as well. “Remember, I am always yours. Even when I’m not.”
Kara turns her head then, to Alex who sits on her left. Words are spoken by both of them but Lena doesn’t hear them. She can’t hear anything over the high pitched sound ringing in her ears and Kara’s last words playing on a loop in her mind.
They should have had so much more time. They should have had years to be together, truly together. Years without lies and secrets pulling them apart. Years of light and laughter and love, so much love that it would be bursting out of them. The kind of love that couldn’t be contained. They should have had it all but now they only had minutes.
They only have minutes and Kara doesn’t know how Lena feels. A sudden panic seizes Lena as she realizes that minutes are quickly receding into seconds and Kaa still doesn’t know.
“Kara,” even to her own ears, Lena’s voice sounds so far away. “Kara, I love you.”
There’s no ignoring the tears now, they fall from Lena’s eyes unbidden. But Kara is smiling at Lena, that special, bright smile that always made Lena feel like she was the one who could fly.
Kara’s smile remains as her eyes fall closed and her body goes limp. Kara’s smile remains as she exhales, whispering Lena’s name with her last breath.
Supergirl dies a hero, mourned and celebrated by many.
Kara Danvers dies to the sound of her sister crying beside her.
Kara Zor-El dies smiling in the embrace of the woman she loves most.
Lena woke up feeling as if that last image of Kara’s smile had been burned into her retinas. The dream, memory, ends in the same place it always does, the moment before the realization of what she had just witnessed sinks in. Lena wakes with soul crushing despair settling deep in her chest so that her breath in a new day is little more than a broken sob. It takes a few minutes for Lena to gather herself enough to climb out of bed and reach for her phone. The move is calculated. Lena knows that if she had reached for her phone first, she wouldn’t have gotten out of bed.
Every other day, Lena had been able to push herself through it. She could almost pretend that everything was normal, until she caught herself trying to call Kara and invite her to lunch. Even after two weeks, Lena’s first instinct was still to call Kara. The hope that maybe the dream had been a nightmare rather than a memory and Kara would answer when she called had been all that kept Lena going for the past 14 days.
The day of Kara’s funeral had pulled that hope to a crashing halt.
There had been a service for Supergirl the day before. It felt like all of National City had been there, human and alien alike. All the heroes that Kara had worked with over the years were there, a few of them people that Lena had only met briefly before the wave of dark matter destroyed all of their worlds. The Flash had a few words to say. Cat Grant had barely held her tears in. Superman openly cried as he said goodbye to his last blood relative. Lena had watched it all with a blank expression, Alex’s hand in hers.
Lena had made her way to Midvale on her own and was one of the last to arrive at Kara’s childhood home. Eliza had greeted her with a hug and a far too knowing look. Lena had slept in Kara’s bed and refused to cry until she was sure that no one would hear her.
Now, Lena pulled on the dark outfit she had selected the night before and made her way downstairs. Alex and Eliza met her at the bottom of the stairs and led her to where Clark and Lois were standing with J’onn. Eliza pulled Lena into another hug while Lois looked as if she was the only one in the room who could understand Lena’s pain. Everyone was treating Lena like she was Kara’s widow and Lena wasn’t sure she would ever recover from that.
She had Kara had never been together. They hadn’t gone on dates or celebrated anniversaries. They’d never even kissed and yet Lena still felt like a piece of her heart had been broken beyond repair. She wasn’t Kara’s widow but she was Kara’s someday and that was somehow worse.
How could Lena mourn what she’d never had in the first place?
Kara’s funeral had been short. She wouldn’t have wanted all of her friends and family to spend hours crying over her. Kara had been a ray of sunshine, a becon of joy. Although tears were shed, everyone wanted to follow Kara’s wishes so it soon turned to a memorial rather than a funeral. As everyone had been distracted by Alex’s story of the first time Kara saved her, Lena didn’t think anyone would notice when she stepped onto the back patio. She nearly jumped in surprise when a masculine voice called her name.
“Sorry,” Clark said as he stepped up beside her. Lena hummed her acceptance of the apology but didn’t say a word.
They stood together in silence for a few minutes. If it had been any other time, Lena might have made a joke about a Super and a Luthor but it didn’t feel right with her Super missing. Eventually, Lena can see Clark’s shoulders sag and knows that the silence is about to be broken.
“She was always so much stronger than me.” Clark speaks in a low, haunted voice. “I’ll never be able to thank her for righting my worst wrong.”
There’s a heavy set to his shoulders and a distant glint in his eyes that makes Lena feel foolish for forgetting where all this conflict had started. Lex had killed Kara, but it was Clark that turned Lex into a staunch believer in the superiority of man. It was Clark who faced Lex time and time again. CLark who wasn’t strong enough to deal the blow that would have ended all of this conflict. It was Clark’s weakness that had pushed Kara into that position, and Clark’s cowardice that cost Kara her life.
The urge to hate Clark for his inaction is strong, so strong it makes Lena’s stomach clench and her hands tremble. It would be all too easy to blame Clark for losing Kara, but Lena knows that it wouldn’t be fair to him. There’s plenty of blame to go around but Clark doesn’t truthfully deserve any of it. Lex does. For targeting Kara and dealing the fatal blow, but most of them blame falls on Lena herself. For her own war against Supergirl, for the experiments that gave Lex his powers, for not being strong enough to defeat him on her own.
Kara would still be with them if not for Lena’s failures.
“But there is something I can do for her, if you’re willing to help me.”
It takes a moment for Lena to realize that Clark’s statement had been a request. She looks at him, blinking in askance.
“Follow me,” Clark, in a move that Lena would never have expected to come from him, gently took Lena’s hand into his own and guided her down the porch steps towards the beach. Agreeing to Clark’s request that she wait there for a moment, Lena tries to settle her nerves. When Clark returns, Lena knows that there is nothing she could have done to prepare herself.
Clark touches down gently a few feet away from Lena and in the space between them hovers a sleek, grey pod. The black surface on the outside fades to clear and suddenly Lena can see Kara.
She looks peaceful in death, Lena thinks, like she finally dropped all the weight she had been carrying for so long.
“On Krypton, when a woman died,” Clark swallows roughly. “It was tradition for the oldest female member of the House to speak Rao’s blessing over them.”
Clark meets Lena’s gaze evenly.
“I know that would be Eliza here, or Alura if she had come, but I also know that Kara would have wanted it to be you.”
“Clark,” Lena hesitated, “Kal, I don’t know.”
“I know what you mean to her. Meant.” Even though they had been doing so all day, hearing Kara referred to in the past tense hurt deeply and Lena felt the tears welling for what must have been the thousandth time.
“Okay,” Lena agreed with a shaky nod. Clark handed her a small piece of paper from his pocket and then turned his gaze to the pod containing Kara’s still form.”
“Whenever you’re ready.”
Lena was sure that she would never be ready to say goodbye to Kara but there was no sense in waiting. Voice thick with tears and barely above a whisper, Lena began to read.
“You have been the sun of our lives. Our prayers will be the sun that lights your way on the journey home. We will remember you in every dawn and await the night we join you in the sky. Rao’s will be done.”
They stood there for a moment with only the sound of the waves crashing against the beach breaking the still air. Then, with a heavy breath like he was steeling himself for the hardest moment of his life, Clark lifted the casket into the air with him. A moment later, Kara returned to the stars that had brought her home.
Clark returned to the Danver’s household while Lena remained on the beach by herself. There was a fleeting feeling of Lena wishing she had something to hold on to, a memento of Kara’s. The feeling faded only to be replaced with a much stronger wish to simply have Kara there with her. The feeling was strong that for a moment, Lena felt the soft, familiar warmth of Kara’s hand in her own, their fingers resting together easily. As time stretched on, Lena let herself be lost in the phantom feeling of what could have been, until the sound of a car door closing shattered the dream and brought Lena crashing back to reality.
A reality where Kara was gone.
Suddenly, the beach felt just as stifling as the house had been.
Realizing that her moment with the ghost of Kara’s memory was over, Lena turned to make her way back to the house.
Only Kara’s closest friends remained at the house. Clark, Lois, and Lucy were sitting together on the couch, the two normally argumentative sisters silent in their grief. Barry and Iris were curled together in a chair, Barry staring blankly ahead as Iris watched him in concern. Caitlin and Cisco sat together on the floor in front of Barry and Iris, their shoulders pressed together. Ava sat in the other chair with Sara leaning against her legs, her fingers idly wrapping a strand of Sara’s hair around and around. The other Legends must have gone back to the Waverider. Alex and Eliza sat together on the loveseat and made room between them for Lena.
It was odd, Lena decided as she took the seat provided for her, to be surrounded by so many heroic figures and not feel even the smallest amount of hope. The Kara shaped whole in the arrangement could not be ignored. No one said a word as Lena sat down and the silence was no less disturbing the longer it went on.
“It doesn’t seem right,” Cisco broke the silence with a sad voice. “The most powerful person we know.”
“The bravest and most caring, too,” Barry added just as softly. “She didn’t even ask for help.”
“You were all busy,” Alex shrugged slightly but Lena could see the tension in her jaw. “You all had your own villains to face and lives to live. She wouldn’t have disrupted that.”
“She wouldn’t put all of you in danger like that.” Lena’s voice was hoarse from disuse. Not counting her blessing of Kara at the beach, that was the longest sentence Lena had said in two weeks.
“I did, with the Dominators and Crisis,” Barry’s expression shone with guilt. “She answered every time.”
“She was like Oliver,” Sara said, leaning further into Ava as she spoke. “More of a hero than any of us will ever be.”
“All these powers, even time travel, and we still can’t save everyone.” Iris sighed and dropped her head onto Barry’s shoulder. Barry pressed a kiss against his wife’s forehead.
“We would if we could.” Barry said. “I’d go back in a second if we didn’t have to worry about another Flashpoint. An event like this is too big to go back and change.”
“Flashpoint?” Lena asked curiously. Alex looked at her with the smallest bit of surprise and a hint of question in her eyes.
“One of the first times I travelled back in time on purpose, to save my mom. I ended up changing everything,” Barry explained.
With everyone reluctant to leave, it took little prodding to get Barry to continue elaborating. A conversation about the difficulty of preserving the timeline arose between the members of team Flash and the two remaining Legends in the room. Lena listened with half an ear but her mind was stuck on the comment that had started this conversation.
It didn’t feel right without Kara in the room, not only in the sense that Lena personally felt as though she was missing an essential part of her being, but in the sense that something about all of this was fundamentally wrong. The only thing about Kara’s conflict with Lex was that Lex was gone. It doesn’t make sense for him to have taken Kara out with him, especially not without Kryptonite. Lena remembered the final blow in sharp detail. The beam that had exhausted Kara was golden, not green.
A comment about the natural order of time caught Lena’s attention and she pondered the implications of it. The natural order of time ensured that everyone was at the correct time and place, whenever that happened to be in the linear timeline of their own lives. Barry and the Legends are able to move through time as long as they don’t disrupt the natural time. There were few rules for time travel, but the most important was that one could not be in the exact same place and time as they had been before. A person cannot physically be in one specific time and place more than once.
But, there were ways to send other things through time. The Legends used a ship, and Barry had once sent a message back in time to himself, warning of things to come. The beginnings of an idea began to form in Lena’s mind. Physical time travel was limited, but that didn’t mean that other forms had the same limitations. Unfortunately, Lena was kept from following that rabbit any further down the hole by the group finally breaking apart for the night. Lena forced the questions and ideas from her mind until she returned to National City.

Love in This Club (V-Day)
Lena Luthor x Reader
Tumblr media
“Sam. Why can’t we just stay in? I don’t mind spending time with you and Ruby here tonight.”
Lena’s best friend ignored her and continued to look through the closet for the perfect outfit for the night. Lena doesn’t mind going out but hates going out on this specific day. Valentine’s Day.
If the raven haired was being honest, she hates this day. She hates seeing couples doing couple activities on this special day. Lena just doesn’t understand why couples needed to express their love so much on this day. Why can’t people just express their love everyday or any other day as the same as valentines?
Sam throws a black scandalous dress at Lena.
“Seriously?! Why this one?”
“Because you.” Sam pokes Lena’s forehead. “Need to find yourself a hottie in the club who can make you forget your name and what day it is. So you need to look fuckable tonight.”
“Sam!”
“Nope. No excuses. You need to get laid. Don’t  worry about Ruby. The babysitter just texted me and she’s currently waiting for her to get home from her friend’s house.”
Lena didn’t bother to argue with her again and headed straight to the bathroom to get ready. Hopefully she can just drink the night away.
***
The flashing red and pink heart shaped lights in the club were a bit overwhelming. The loud music was tolerable and the drinks were alright for you to stay for a while. You were forced to go to the club against your will. Your friends didn’t want you to stay in tonight. You sit uncomfortably in the booth filled with your friends and their dates. Your friends tried very hard to make it feel like just another night at the club but it was hard to ignore due to the theme and music choice of the night.
You appreciate their efforts but you didn’t want to ruin their night trying to satisfy your loneliness. You excused yourself to use the restroom but in reality to make your way to the bar to get herself a stronger drink. After a healthy sip of your drink, you unbutton a few buttons on your dress shirt and run your hand through your hair to loosen it up.
You glanced at your watch and thought about purchasing another glass and then leaving for the night. You didn’t want to stay out too long since you have work the next day.
“Whiskey neat, please.”
An angelic voice made your ears perk up. You’re not the only one having a rough night, you thought to yourself. You look at the woman not too far from you. A black tight dress hugs her stunning glass figure. Her jet black hair fits her matching bright red lipstick. She basically screams “fuck me, I’m hot.”
She caught you staring but you didn’t turn away. It must be the alcohol in your system for your stupid actions. You winked at the woman and simply looked away to face down your drink. The raven haired was surprised that you didn’t turn away so quickly and it was bold of you to send a wink at her but not come and flirt around.
A tall dark gentleman sneaks up behind the raven haired and puts his hands on her waist. You knew it was too good to be true that a hot woman like that would be single. Little did you know, that guy is not her boyfriend.
“Hey, sexy. I’ve been looking for you. Wanna finish that drink and get back on the dance floor?”
Clearly, Lena didn’t feel comfortable being manhandled nor being told what to do. She wants this night to be over and she sees that her glass is almost empty. Lena doesn’t want to go back to the dance floor especially not with the guy who is holding her.
If you didn’t know any better, the woman looks like she needs another drink to deal whatever she’s in. You told the bartender to make another drink for the raven haired beauty and put it on your tab.
The bartender made the drink in seconds and placed it in front of Lena. She was puzzled by the new drink in front of her and the bartender just tilted his head to the side to point out to you that you were the one with the kind gesture. Lena sees you getting ready to leave while the man behind Lena felt offended.
The man let’s go of Lena and makes his way to you. He gripped your shoulder for your attention. You force yourself to turn to the jackass for grabbing you. The guy wasn't that tall, probably just a few inches and he looks much more buffed up close.
“What’s your problem, man?” You gritted your teeth. Clearly you don’t like being bothered.
“You’re the fool who bought my girl a drink.”
“And?” The annoyance grew within you, seeing no point on the kind gesture towards the woman.
“James! Let her be. She was just being kind.” The raven haired tries to pull the man off you but instead he shoves you. You held yourself in place and shoved him back with more strength. James takes a chance to swing his fist at you but you dodge it and deck his face.
The people around didn’t seem to notice. It was all too quick. The bartenders called security and immediately apprehend the man to kick him out of the club. You make your way to leave again but someone grab your shoulder again.
“Hey! I- um sorry about him.” The raven haired beauty says.
“It’s cool. Sorry about your boyfriend. You deserve better.”
“He’s not my boyfriend. I just barely know the guy. We just met and I thought he was a good catch.”
“Oh. Well I’m still sorry for ruining anything special for this day. Enjoy your night, Miss.”
Lena quickly gets in front of you to prevent you from leaving.
“I’m Lena. Do mind if we get to know each other? You technically saved me from a regrettable night and I just wish to-”
“I’m (Y/N). Do you mind if I buy you another drink?”
The raven haired smiles and grabs your hand to lead you back to the bar. The two of you continued to drink and get to know each other better. You found out that Lena is a CEO of L-Corp which you can’t believe. Her best friend dragged her to the club to get yourself laid which failed badly.
You told Lena that you’re from the military and that you’ll be staying in National city for a while until your next tour. It explained why you were much faster and stronger than James. Lena and you were getting really comfortable with each other. Lena was inching closer and closer until she was close enough to just focus on your face. It was getting harder for you to talk normally to Lena. due to you staring at her full red lips.
“(Y/N)!” One of your best guy friends spots you. Lena raises her eyebrow at you.
“We were looking for you all over this club! Seems like you kept yourself busy.” He continues to say and notice the closeness between Lena and you.
“Oh. I was about to leave-”
“Hello, I’m Lena. (Y/N) was planning to leave soon and rejoin you guys.”
You looked at Lena with confusion but you didn’t reply fast enough.
“Oh! Why don’t you join us?! (Y/N), bring your girl to our table. I’m just going to grab new drinks for everyone.”
You nodded and held Lena’s hand to lead the way to the table of your friends. Your friends stop talking when they see you and a stranger attached to you. You introduce Lena to your friends and their partners. There wasn’t enough room to fit another person beside you but it wasn’t a problem to Lena. Lena sits on your lap and makes herself comfortable.
Your friends were keeping a close eye on you and were very impressed. A sexy woman like Lena is sitting on your lap with an arm around your neck. You continued to drink and socialize. Lena’s head rests on your neck.
The alcohol and music were helping the two get lost in your own world. It feels nice to be holding onto Lena and she felt the same as well. Soon, the two capture each other’s lips. You could taste the whiskey on her lips. The kiss heated up and Lena wasn’t afraid to grind into your lap.
Your hand moves between Lena’s legs and touches her fabric covering her pussy. Lena gasped at the touch and you discovered how wet she is for you.
“Very bold of you to make a move like that on a woman you just met.” Her warm breath in your ear makes you feel fuzzy.
You went further and started rubbing her clothed clit with two fingers. A breathy moan fills your ear and Lena holds onto you tightly.
“I may have just met you but I plan to discover every inch of you if you let me.”
“Fuck. I’ll let you if we leave this instant.” She says.
You smirk and stand up with Lena. You didn’t say anything to your friends and just pulled Lena with you to head to the exit. Your friends know exactly what’s going to happen and they’re happy that you’re going to feel loved on Valentine’s Day.
“You didn’t say bye to your friends.” Lena says.
“Don’t need to. They all know that I’m going fuck you for the rest of the night and I hope I make me you forget your name.”
If Lena wasn’t  aroused before, she sure is now.
***
You landed beside the messy raven haired after you removed the strap-on. Lena curls up next to you and throws her arm around your chest and buries her face in your neck.
“You’re so good with the strap, I swear I don’t think I’m able to cum for a few days.” She smiles against your sensitive bitten skin.
“Mm. I take that as a compliment. For you being a CEO and all . . . You’re such a needy bottom.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Darling.”
“Happy Valentine’s to you too, babe.”
“By the way. . . I expect that next Valentine’s Day to be romantic. .” Lena declared.
Your eyes widened, “next Valentine’s Day?”
It was Lena’s turn to smirk and pull you in for a kiss.
“Yes. I plan to keep you around, darling.”

Listen, I actually couldn't finish this episode. Like I lost brain cells, got ingestion and finally KO-ed because I could NOT grasp the plot. Not even seeing Lena again made this enjoyable for me. But here's what I got:
- I wonder how many takes Thomas took to say Nxyly's full name without biting his tongue off
- also I am so sorry Thomas that they had you sing. And yet somehow that wasn't the most cringe thing to happen in this episode
- Nia and Kara desperately assigning blame to themselves instead of just, idk, working together to fix the problem. Who cares who's fault it is??
- Alex jumping in front of kara when mxy brandishes the PZ projector is the only thing I liked
- Kelly's absence felt so odd after 2 back to back episodes of her front and centre
- Nia thinking that Kara would drag her for making a mistake makes me wonder if these characters even know each other
- kara: "I should've told you guys about Nxyly". Yes you idiot you absolutely should have! Like I get that they don't wanna bring it up but like how is ignoring what happened to her any better? Do they not do any Intel sharing?
- the fucking zookeeper is still here?!?!?
- look I wasn't expecting Lena to be talking to kara on the phone, I know better than that, but I had hoped it would at least be Nia considering that Lena and her have been bonding over their moms and it just makes sense??
- andrea's titty window sans kara or Lena to see it. What was it all for?
- I understand Lena using Andrea's resources to help her out and shit and I'm actually surprised the writer's remembered she doesn't have access to the LuthorCorp jet anymore. I honestly wouldn't have batted an eye if she did tho.
- the way we haven't had ANY scenes of dialogue between kara and lena aside from 6x01 and only ONE line from kara to Lena since then. Like are they actually going to brush everything under the goddamn rug? We heard from Alex that they've forgiven each other and it seems that way too but we haven't actually had the chance to judge that as an audience and it's (checks notes) 11 episodes already???
-Kara is back and yet Lena doesn't seem full. Kara is back and yet she hasn't been vulnerable with lena or with anyone really. Or was that all a lie?
- Nxyly is actually kinda hot in this episode. Interesting development there
- the team actually fighting a giant pussy cat and more brain cells have died. If they were hoping it would be amusing like the Legends fighting a giant Beebo, spoiler alert - it was not
- mxy and Nxyly and even the king has some keysmash names but one imp is actually named Jared? Just fucking Jared. Christ
- Lena being bullied by a bunch of Canadians is hilarious and I say this as a Canadian. Like Lena has stood her ground against Lex, Lillian, SG, an interrogation room filled with judgemental pricks, fucking Reign and yet, she looked two seconds from crying when denied her hotel room by some fucking Newfies. Get the fuck outa here.
- not a single Tim Hortons run in this entire episode. Are we sure she even went to Canada???
- at one point, I was rooting for Nxyly to win.
- so not only did they bring back that god awful wig that they actually had the audacity to make footage with it? That thing needs to be snatched and thrown into the sun like the trash monster.
- Katie looked so done in this episode and I don't even blame her. I suffered second hand embarrassment on her behalf. Those lines, her behaviour. It's like what the fuck happened to the Lena from the past 4 seasons?
- the mean bartender says "I've seen you on the news running arm in arm with a bulletproof alien" and the places my mind went is probably why I didn't pay any attention to the rest of the episode.
- so lemme see if I have this right. Lena's mom visits the cave lady in her dreams but never once thought to visit her traumatized little daughter?
- am I supposed to be upset that they killed an abuser? Because I'm not
- so much porn shots of the town car driving up and down some sketch and lonely road
- did Google maps really lead Lena to some random cave?? Bruh
- Lena's scenes felt so disconnected for a minute I thought I was watching a completely different show.
- aluminum foil on the props lord did they just say fuck it and made a Dollarama run for the cheapest 200ft roll they could buy?
- Kara being a mentor to Nia for the first time since that Nia centric episode last season. God I hate it here.
- they do remember J'onn is a shape shifter right? Why do we need an image inducer? I get the little Lena is still with the team crumb but it's stupid.
- still no word on M'gann huh
- yo since the Luthors are technically perceived on Earth-Prime as "good", what trail of bodies is this bar lady talking about? This isn't public knowledge and Lena's mom only killed 1 dude who frankly deserved it.
- sigh. We're really doing this witch Lena thing then.
- kara stop trying to reach the good in people! Just stop. When has this bullshit EVER WORKED? Some people are just too far gone. Accept it.
- stronger together has truly lost meaning on this show
- Alex and Kara being so willing to hold much less use the PZ projector is utter bullshit. Also they just have that thing lying around for any grabby hands to take?
- what the actual fuck is Kara's arc this season? Or Alex? Or poor J'onn. The man has been seriously neglected.
- kara is supposed to be the most powerful being on the planet and yet this show continues to nerf her abilities. God I missed the days of S1 when Kara looked like she could fuck shit up.
- also when is kara going to be the focus of her own show again? Are we ever going to properly address Kara's issues? We got two episodes of James processing his trauma and only 5 mins of flashbacks in 6x08 for Kara and a few fleeting moments sprinkled across the last 5 seasons. Ridiculous. Like it won't diminish her as a character to seek professional help, it won't make her any less of a hero. Think of how impactful that would be and the message that could send about the importance of mental health.
- glad to see a promo for this important episode next week (I honestly can't wait - Kelly in a head wrap is so personal to me y'all) but please I'm begging you, do not make the issue of race come at the expense of kara's intelligence and awareness. She's a journalist, she's seen xenophobia and written about it, she's been friends with James for years. Kara knows about racism. Please show that.
Needless to say I did not enjoy this episode at all. I was happy to see Lena again but all her scenes were just hard to watch. I feel like so much of their very limited time is being wasted and there's still so many things they haven't touched upon yet. When exactly are we gonna get to it? Better question, will we ever get to it? Probably not.
Like I wanted to see the super friends communicating, leaning on each other, character growth, being truly stronger together but no. They're giving us literally anything but that and it's frustrating.
