nobody can convince me that tms isn't the best cannon compliant marauders fic out there. i could talk about it all day

I don't know why the fandom of the fanfic of the marauders All The Young Dudes is so big and intense, having a very toxic relationship as a plot, the only salvageable can be Grant and Mary. While the series of Wattpad de Pengiwen marauders with a very interesting plot in which it not only focuses on a couple but on war and magic and with much healthier relationships is 10 times better; in this Remus and Sirius they know what the fucking COMMUNICATION is and Sirius is not a fucking idiot, the boy is sighing for Remus and treats him as if he were fucking perfect (Which he is)... And for Merlin, this have his own incredible character, I mean Maryrose IS FANTASTIC, I'M IN LOVE WITH HER, the character of Regulus shines (James and he is friends), James, I love him (James literal has a talk with Sirius that he does not care that he is gay and that if he really loves Remus he does nothing unless he is 100% safe; because if he hurts him he plans to hit him in the face AND SIRIUS REPLIES THAT HE WOULD PREFER TO HIT HIMSELF), Remus is adorable and deserves a thousand hugs, Lily is a bit heavy but you can't blame her since she believes in what she said in Severus (Fuck you Snivelus) and I was not realized in a really toxic friendship, they show us how Peter is going to the dark side... Because he is a coward, there are deaths that hurt me a lot, and also attention to characters such as teachers (McGonagall) or the parents of the group (James's parents), things that give meaning to others that happen in the Harry Potter saga that you stay, HE SAID IT, IT IS FOR THIS AAAHH!... It deserves more attention.

Omg I've never agreed with someone more on how the marauders fandom is. I'm not anti jegulus but I am a die hard Jily shipper. I also love Wolfstar and so many people consider All the Young Dudes canon but I know I won't like some of the characterizations which is why I have yet to read it. Do you know any good marauders fics that keeps their almost canon characterizations but goes in deeper and explore and flesh out the complexities of who they are?

I actually really enjoyed Atyd even tho Remus is really ooc. I dunno I guess enjoyed the themes and the story so much it was able to override the my gripes with the fanonisation. ((Also it was the first queer piece of text/book/media that I'd ever consumed and made me realise I was lesbian sooo I have a bit of emotional attachment to it lol)).

Atyd, sirius' perperspective was also really amazing and i personally believe that his characterisation was very canon-accurate and so if u wanna experience the atyd story maybe u can read that ? I think I've realised that I'm semi okay if remus is mischaracterised so long as sirius isn't lol.

Anyways, as for actual canon-characterisation compliant fics,, I haven't actually read any?? I'm sure there are plenty out there but most of them are abt het ppl and I'm a little straightphobic /j 😭

Howeverrr,, two jily-centric fics that I've heard are really good (with a side of wolfstar) are 'The Last Enemy: The Howling Nights' on ao3 and 'The Pengiwens' on wattpad!

Ooh and another really good fic that I think has canon characterisation is 'the hand that feeds' by rollercoasterwords on ao3. Its dorlene centric but the side jily and wolfstar is soo good!!

Unpopular Marauders era opinions

Nobody wants my opinion but I’m giving it anyway. (I’m happy to talk or elaborate on any of these but please just be respectful)

The only truly underrated characters are Emmeline, Frank and Alice and that’s only if you compare them to how the fandom treats the other characters

If you can forgive Barty for torturing Frank and Alice then you can forgive Peter for betraying James and Lily (I forgive neither)

I don’t care if it logically makes no sense I headcanon the majority of the Order to be around the same age as the Marauders

Marlene is much better suited as a Ravenclaw

As much as I hate Snape he is underused in Marauders fics

Maryrose Jenkins deserves the same appriciation as Grant Chapman. And I think she would get it if more people gave Pengiwens Marauders series a chance

It kinda annoys me when people talk/act as if Mary was apart of the Order because I think the fact that she never joined made her character so much more interesting

Emmeline and Edgar & Mary and Lily are better ships then Emmeline and Mary

Our first priority as a fandom should be giving all of the ships cool aesthetic ship names like wolfstar and sunflower

The “Regulus can’t swim” jokes were never funny

Marlene McKinnon SCREAMS older sister vibes. I don’t understand how people can headcanon her the youngest of her siblings when she radiates so much Nina RIva and Fiona Gallagher energy

I’m not one to have a strong opinion on harmless headcanons but I really dislike the James and Marlene being childhood friends headcanon. (I do however hc James and Alice & Peter and Marlene as childhood friends. I just really can’t see it with James and Marlene) (Also I hc that Marlene was born and raised in Ireland so it doesn’t work in my hcs anyway)

I don’t understand people who will refuse to read a fic where Sirius is taller than Remus. It’s not that deep just imagine that he’s shorter if it annoys you that much

If you’re not willing to give credit to the artist then don’t use someone else's fan art. (this also includes if you don’t know who the artist is, there is no excuse)

All Marauders ships have potential and I don’t really dislike any of them. (this however does not include any illegal ships or Sirius with any women or Marlene with any man)

The fact that the most popular atyd covers contain fanart without the permission from the artists and there is not an ounce of credit on the covers or in any post that includes the covers is possibly one of the worst and most disrespectful things this fandom has ever done.

There is no reason why you shouldn’t be using a plus size actor for Peter and a dark skinned actress for Dorcas. It has been stated many times that Peter is fat and Dorcas is dark skinned and there are multiple fancasts and scenepacks out there

I wish this fandom was a bit more consistent with their headcanons. For example, many people hc Marlene's birthday to be August 1st 1960 but these same people say that she died at the age of 21 when she wouldn't be if she was born in August 1960 but died in July 1981 she would’ve been 20

Sirius being a “manwhore” is the worst characterization of him

Pandora doesn’t have to be from a famous family. I prefer the headcanon where she just has a normal last name (or that Lovegood is her maiden name)
