And the quickest way to do that is get to the bottom of the case- if only pleasing him was as simple as pleasing the Pigeon Man…all that guy needs is a bag of seeds and the pigeons. Nevertheless, her eyes soften as she sets her folded report on the desk. “…It’s not like the truth is going to change anything.” But he’s going to go for it anyways, won’t he? Find out the full story or die trying. She doesn’t know the whole story behind this all-consuming desire, no one does and Lee isn’t planning on changing that but…

“I want answers.” Not only to figure out the irritating conundrum of the case, but also set Lee’s ghosts to rest. It’s hard to live one’s own life, when the ghosts of those beloved have not been properly buried.

She would know that BETTER than anyone else.

favorite holiday: I don’t have one but I’d have to say christmas for the food

last meal: chicken soup bc winter slapped me in the face now I’m sick

current favorite musician: don’t have one! I kinda hate music

last music listened to: “I know the end” by phoebe bridgers. doesn’t help my I hate music stance but that song is great so what I will do is put that song and just that song on repeat for months and not even touch anything else. I’ve also been listening to the parade revival bcr for months now.

last movie watched: blue beetle I think? and that was kind of a while ago. but great film! a lot better than I was expecting.

last tv show watched: besides just putting stuff on for noise im gonna say jury duty. an incredible watch you should consider if you haven’t already.

last book/fic finished: it was sydcarmy but I can’t remember the title. but it’s about their first fight in the cross over between whatevership and relationship and carmen gets sick and I’m also sick so!!

last book/fic abandoned: I mean I don’t read books, so that’s abandonment all on its own and if I abandon fics im not gonna publicize that lol.

currently reading: … not a book. and honestly idk basically besides re reading I’m currently reading most sydcarmy wips. I haven’t read for a different fandom since june lmao.

last thing researched for art/writing/hyper-fixation: I think “how to make a crochet coaster” I’m thinking about starting to sell and of course idk how to go about it but I figure actually making shit is a good start? who knows.

favorite online fandom memory: this isn’t a “fandom” per se (say? idk) but back in 2020-2021 I used to spend a lot of time on twitch and I got really attached to this one guy and his community. anyways I called a pop tart and a toaster strudel the same thing and got positively annihilated by the chat. twas very funny.

favorite old fandom you wish would drag you back in/have a resurgence: hmmm idk. for the sake of not having the same answer twice I’d say maybe cobra kai. I really miss loving that show and the ship I was attached to had meta that reminds me of sydcarmy. when the engagement was high it was really fun and if people suddenly decided to start caring again I’d go right back.

favorite thing you enjoy that never had an active or big “fandom” but you wish it did: american vandal!!! it’s less that I want it to have a big fandom because really who wants that and more I just wanted to know the show was appreciated, which it wasn’t :(

tempting project you’re trying to reign in/don’t have time for: I was almost roped into embroidery and punch needling and then I had to actually consider the fact that there’s no way I could commit to that. maybe one day tho.

Ranting abt pgr lol

So apparently I’ve been using this set on my SS Alpha for the past little bit

I didn’t even notice lmao I was like “Oh 6K bp cool”

I have a priority list when it comes to building/improving characters since I don’t pull every update. Alpha is at the top bc she’s the most high value dps (I don’t have 2B and my A2 is only S) Astral used to be second but after I got him to SSS with 6K bp he’s good. Now second on the list goes to Rosetta, followed by Solateer (if I get her) followed by the transcendents.

Everybody else is kinda eh whatever if I can I can bc I usually don’t build tanks rlly well (Might reso Tenebrion’s memories tho) I use physical for clearing most high level content, followed by Dark for large waves of enemies, and lighting is kinda there lol. I don’t have either Plume or Glory, just Wanshi and Chang Yu so ice team is out of the question for me.

Also, I should mention that for healers (Solateer is gonna be an exception she’s gonna be dps for a bit lol) i usually level them to 80 with their skills and all that and slap on the same full level none resonated healing set. Works like a charm so if ur tight on resources consider doing that.

In the future tho, I do hope to build new fire team (Solateer, Hyperreal, and Nanamech) and the new physical team with Abysstigma bc despite how much I don’t like the aesthetics her play style looks fun as hell. I will probably phase to become a transcendent main as well since Nuoan and Bambinata look super cool.

Anyways I’m broke now, but as a f2p knowing which characters you want and who to prioritize is very important. You don’t always have to prioritize meta especially in PGR bc building characters isn’t that bad, but you can’t just full reso everyone lol. Generally res your S rank or higher dps or any S rank tanks, don’t bother reso-ing healers unless it’s an S rank hybrid DPS healer, and reso your transcendants if you can.

Maybe to create the time loop, the divergence should be when Diana reactivates the staff. It brings magic back into the world, but instead of bringing Billy back to life, Freddy’s desperation to save his best friend and brother mixes with the magic and he gets sent back in time, stuck in a loop. And Freddy doesn’t realize that it’s his emotions mixed in with the magic which is creating the time loop, so he could technically stop it at any time, but he is willing to go through the pain of losing Billy a million times for the one chance where Billy lives. Of course Freddy would have a lot of trauma afterwards but the angst is part of the fun!

okay this kinda slaps wait i wanna think about this more. i've also considered like anthea's powers as an option since they're so nebulous like...power of "axis" okay. what's on the axis huh. dimensions? distance? mayhaps time??? does she even know?????? going off topic here tho lmao.

i am admittedly a slut for characters whose emotions are affecting something around them and they Could stop it but they don't realize or almost don't want to.

maybe the real conclusion is like you can't undo what happened to you; there's no erasing your past. there's only the future, and more than that the present. you cannot be unhurt—just healed. maybe the real end to the time loop is letting go and the canon ending happening. is that too meta.

currently, it is my favorite kagepro song (this changes like every week but i digress...) and i really want to make a pv for it but i lowkey have no idea where to start

I LOV remind blue. like every kagepro song makes me want to rip my face off ♥️♥️♥️ but this one is one of those that make me feel so strongly that i cant listen to it ♥️♥️♥️ cuz i do that btw. i cannot listen to kagepro songs without preparing myself emotionally and it has to be when i am alone in my room. i could never listen to them in public. that'd be weird. im drawing and suddenly a kagepro song comes on in my playlist and im like this is so fucked up who put this here (<- i did)

songs like summertime record, lost day hour, remind blue and ayanos theory of happiness specifically i basically never listen to because it causes something in me both mentally and physically. im normal though.

TOTALLY support the idea to make a pv!!! i wouldn't know how to start either tbh💔 who would u make it be sung by?? like the song is so good but for the lyrics im like meh like str is already a thing. idk it sorta has the same vibe. its like summertime record and lost day hour's lyrics had a little baby together. which is why i always liked to interpret it as a haruka song but fuck it ig its shintaro's.

i also liked the idea of it being seto's or hibiya's. i think they'd deserve a song like this, especially hibiya!! tho for hibiya the whole "adult" thing is different LOL and even seto, he's just 17... ive always loved haruka being the punchbag for the "im an adult wtf" feeling because he goes from living his whole life thinking he will die and then he doesn't. or well he DOES die but then comes back, and suddenly he finds himself with his whole life ahead. like haruka and his early 20s crisis abt i did NOT think id be alive this long and now i gotta deal with everything those feelings bring me but at the same time i have to pay rent and worry abt what to make for dinner soooo erm fine ig. that's also what i think lost day hour is about, i know jin describes it more like a song abt old friends but girl idk it rly only has a couple lines abt that as opposed to all the rest of the song... erm. what was i talking about again.

i just think it was rly funny how we were all like ok remind blue uses "boku" so it's seto kano hibiya or haruka (or konoha). and then jin was like hehe. shintaro♥️ SHINTARO DOESNT EVEN USE BOKU whatever im pretty sure he also said it can fit anyone and its more a general mekakushi dan song. but tbh so is summertime record sooooo. sorry im sidetracking a lot

i dont particularly care for remind blue so much (LIKE THE SONG SLAPS im still talking about lyrics) bc it's very heavy on the shit abt like growing distant and stuff sortof??? like kagepros ending/str is implied to have the mekadan not grow apart but kinda do their own thing while still meeting to hang out, bc kagepro is also about growing up and with growing up comes maybe growing distant from these friends you love, but they will always be important and one of a kind in ur life and when u meet its like time hasnt rly passed between you. not to mention the whole thing about combining eyes and how all the snakes will always end up gathering by the queen no matter what, meaning the dan will always be bound to make their ways back to each other no matter what, and are connected to one another by the literal narrative that theyre all actually sort of aware of a little bit (they always refer to their tragedy as a "story"..kagepro is a little meta lol). and like that's all so beautiful but also fuck it. they all meet for pizza nights every week. erm. the passage of time am i right

Ren: Ren is like projection hours so my fav trait is his lack of giving a shit about what other people think of him. It took him a while to get there but he's just trying to live his life as unapologetically Ren as possible. Luv that for him

Peter: I just love having a grumpy tired vampire man, idk he's fun to torture with his enthusiastically cheerful friends hehe

11. What is your least favorite trait regarding your oc?

Ren: UGh he's slow to really trust people which is ANNOYING bc I want to just write him with his happy lil family but first he's gotta like, learn to trust them hahah

Peter: Hmmm i'm still kinda working out some of Peter's more annoying traits but i think it'll be his naivety. He's been alive for ~150 years but doesn't really pay attention to the world around him too much- which means sometimes he needs people to kinda slap him in the face with reality sometimes (Like Cal will with the whole Gender ™ discussion lol) he's so fucking awkward but he means well (usually)

- Chronic Hero Syndrome (that boy has a hard time saying no to someone asking for help)

- Kleptomaniac Hero (look. Somethings he didn't leave in his past, and there's a lot of Stuff laying around in Halcyon)

-Ragtag Bunch of Misfits (i'm p sure most ppls captains and crews fall under this one :3)

-Right Man Wrong Place (70 years later...)

Peter: - Pragmatic Hero (some situations call for some questionable actions for a hero)

-"Friendly" Neighborhood Vampire (ok so he's grumpy and keeps to himself but he doesn't feed on innocent ppl so i'm counting it haha)

-Grudging Thank You (hates admitting he needs help but is eternally grateful when he gets it)

-Soft Hearted Warrior (he's soft with the ppl he's close with. don't cross him tho)

19. How might your oc react to finding out you are the one responsible for their life?

Ren: I think he'd have some Choice Words for me lol, but in the end I think he'd end up being like "Well Ive already had enough world shattering revelations about my reality, so I'm gonna ignore the implications of all this. Wanna go to the Lost Hope and meet the crew you've tortured?"

Peter: 😬 I'm not sure he'd be super happy with me LOL. I put him through a Lot ™, he'd probably also be incredibly confused bc in his story, there is canonically a Hell and demons so there's some vague western theology that clearly exists, but then here I am being like "haha no idk if any of that's real, i'm just writing stories :3"

something I forgot in the previous post, but it’s okay since it technically....doesn’t belong there? a different point entirely. I will admit fully that while Volo does share Felix’s ADHD, he does not share Felix’s PTSD. something is probably wrong for sure...but....

meta-wise, it’s just a personal preference;;;; i don’t like to just slap PTSD on my muses, having it myself. probably my jaded colored glasses being a victim here, but I don’t hand out every thing to all of my muses and especially ‘f/o’ muses because i kinda look at canon or them and go like ‘haha but he is too abled tho.’ People who do write these disabilities tend to do an amazing job and their research, as RPers, really adds to the character. it’s just not common here jdlkdslfjslfs;;; perhaps i’d have to take it a bit more seriously? it’s just;;; debilitating, real PTSD is something you live with for life, and notsomuch in the direct, stereotypical way.

interactions wise, Felix’s PTSD setting in juuuuust post game does make Volo take a step back. He was compatively well-behaved until then, but Red Sky and Spear Pillar are sort of non-stop stress....which doesn’t uncap until his brain deems it safe. The lucky ones get to watch him isolate, and the unlucky ones get to be his due victims, as he’s lashing out for dear life....at a moment of peace. And it’s much deeper than story!Felix. Episodes Felix has are intense, and angry. It wouldn’t be the first time on this blog he’d be offputting to someone who got ‘too’ close.

I just finished pain & frustration simulator AKA Pathologic Classic on the Bachelor's route and I still don't fully understand what the fuck I just witnessed

#like I legit thought that finishing the game would give me at least some insight into what the fuck is happening in this town #but I got nothing????!? I'm so confused. I can't make heads or tails of what's going on there #like I can't differentiate what's logical from what's supernatural #is everything a metaphor?? if so I have no idea how much of that is just meta and how much has an effect on the game's world #ngl I didn't have a good time with this first run #I went in with high hopes for the game but it just felt really underwhelming #not only in gameplay. the story also made me underwhelmed #the twists weren't that interesting to me #maybe if you look at everything as a metaphor it's more interesting but as a story I was kinda disappointed #idk maybe I just don't get it #maybe if I'd have to play the Haruspex's route to get a fuller picture #but by only playing the Bachelor I just. didn't enjoy it. I only kept playing for the promise of a payoff and to me it just never happened #kinda sad. really wanted to enjoy the game and understand why everybody likes it so much #sleep.txt #not trying to shit on the game tho #there were parts of it I liked like some of the characters and the atmosphere #also the music really slapped

Nov 2021 Wk 2

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My Mate Match (Line) Ep 5 fin - aw, it’s kinda cuteness incarnate. We all knew it’d end up the way is did, but what a graceful exit from Sir The Path Not Chosen. I gotta say I like it when the actors are mature enough to kiss like they actually know what they’re doing. (Honestly the Thai BL pulps served us good kisses on a platter this year.) My Mate Match is a bit of a mess and the characters are occasionally too dumb for words, so in the end I give it 6/10 RECOMMENDED BUT PRETTY DARN FLAWED

Bite Me Ep 11 fin (Viki) - there’s more talking and less cooking in this last episode than all the others combined but that dialogue was stilted, awkward, and cliche. The kiss was pretty, I guess. And it was kinda fun to see a bunch of desserts I recognized from Until We Meet Again. But we spent all our time with side characters. Honestly what the hell happened to this show? I’m not even mad, just let down. My best one word description is: disappointing. If I were one of the two leads I’d be mad though. They were great. The show failed them, not the other way around. Watch it if you like longing looks and cooking shows, but don’t expect story 6/10 QUITE FLAWED

Love With Benefits Ep 1 - appears to be another meta BL about BL. Plot: The leads of a new BL series aren’t doing well enough to pass as a shippable couple so they are forced to live together to build intimacy in an opposites attract kinda thing. It’s slow moving (not as bad as Bite Me, but what is?) with lots of punching down humor and predatory trans characters (when did THAT become an archetype? grrrr) so... I’m not sure about it at all.

Loveless Society Ep 0 - dropped 20 mins of bts, no subs, to Line, so I think we can expect that from the rest of the series too. Which may or may not start next week.

Bad Buddy (YouTube) Ep 3 - I’m getting a real “scion of SOTUS” feel from this show now and loving that for it. Truly. ALL THE TROPES dropped this week and the boys are flirting and softening towards each other. It’s GREAT. I’m live blogging it here.

Between Us special (YouTube) Ep 0 - 3 little vignettes of pitch perfect domesticity, nothing more, no spoilers or foreshadows. And it’s charming and glorious and exactly satisfying. Suddenly, I’m all confident in Wabi Sabi again. Or is this just New doing that sporadic master of the BL universe for the honor of Grayrainbow thing he does? (Closely followed by a 7 Project level betrayal). Who cares. YAY!!!

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

My Sweet Dear (Korea - Viki) Ep 7-8 fin - I really liked this one, I think slightly more than Tasty Florida (I don’t enjoy love triangles), but it rates about the same. Tasty was prettier, Sweet is more stylish and grown up. I’m looking forward to the movie version, hopefully they will iron out some of the editing/timing/flashback issues. This was what I wanted Bite Me to be. I didn’t feel like the crisis/ending was rushed because I watch too many Kdramas and all the shit always goes down in the last few episodes, so I was expecting it. RECOMMENDED 8/10

My Type (Taiwan indie - hard to find but a kind soul is subbing it here) Ep 2-3 this remains very cute and kinda fun for a baby project.

Friend or Lover (Taiwan - YouTube) Ep 6 fin - finally the last little installment. It was cute, it’s a fine indie piece, better than most, not actually very good tho. 5/10 RECOMMENDED ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO

Vanishing My First Love AKA Kieta Hatsukoi (Japan - indie subbed) Ep 5 - it’s so fucking funny, Aoki the spaz in the forest, that spider slap on the back, it all just made me laugh so hard my ribs hurt (I grew up rural, this shit is golden). This show is a work of slapstick genius with poor Ida the only stiff in the bunch. It’s gloriously ridiculous without losing any of its earnest wholesome sincerity.

In Case You Missed It

New Pinoy BL Rainbow Prince dropped a trailer. It is a musical BL featuring under cover royalty living in a hotel with his dogs. I just... WHAT?

My DNA Says I Love You is (if you can’t guess from that title) a new BL from Taiwan for next year. Announced on FB but there is the tiniest of teasers on YouTube.

Korean Bl To My Star confirmed season two... again.

Not BL, Baker Boys got it’s official trailer from GMMTV. Singto (SOTUS) plays a gay character in this (it will be his last role under GMMTV). I talk about that and the original source material on @heretherebedork‘s post.

Thai BL NillunDon is officially delayed for a recast of Don, among other things.

Thai BL Paint with Love got a new trailer. Interesting casting going on here so far as the Thai studio system is concerned, can I talk about it for a sec? Singto (SOTUS originally GMMTV) with Tae (2 Moons franchise) and a secondary couple made up of Yoon (Cheewin’s stable) and Yacht (who I thought was married to Wabi Sabi and not doing BL) and also there is Natty who’s from Oxygen (Mauve). Wabi Sabi picked up defunked project Dear Doctor and is apparently bringing it back, staring Grey Rainbow couple Nut & Karn (love them, hate their BL). Adapted from a novel, the show focuses on a romance between a doctor trying to save his patients and the Grim Reaper (both his enemy and lover). I LOVE THIS PREMISE!!! Doom at Your Service only gay? WE WANTS IT.

Wabi Sabi also bring us My Only 12%. Guess who’s starring? SANTA & EARTH!!!!!! This is based on a y-novel by Afterday (who also wrote the novel behind Bad Buddy). About neighbors and childhood friends, Cake and Seeiw, who have totally opposite personalities and are growing apart because of this. (source + full plot description)

HEARTSABYUL PICKING POKEMON STARTERS (and why)

im bored and so i bring together two of my favorite things. I’ll do every dorm eventually and each person will get their own pokemon (probably.)

ACE ~ he’s an oldie pokemon fan, loves the classics isnt as much of a fan of the newer gens and will rant about it on twt. the first thing i thought of for him was fire type bc he’s rather headstrong and blunt and has that sorta firey energy about him. with all of this said, Ace picks charmander. Sue him for loving the classics. He also absolutely loves the fact that charizard is a fire flying type bc it means they have matching magic (kinda, he just thinks it’s cute) but still wishes that charizard was a dragon type bc he thinks dragon types are cool. He prefers charizard y over x and deuce calls him weird for that. believes in charizard supremacy.

DEUCE ~ like ace, deuce is also an oldie pokemon fan and is proud but hes less outspoken about it (keeps a gameboy and ds hidden in his closet). my bf argued that deuce would be good with a fire type starter and while i can agree to an extent i still went with a water type so i didnt have any repeats and bc i personally think he’d pick a water type and he enjoys pokemon meta, especially in the early games. he’s probably into speedrunning and mods too WHICH IS WHY deuce picks squirtle as his starter. he thinks turtles are cool—and you know whats even cooler? a giant turtle with guns on its back. he and ace get into arguments about whether blastiose or charizard is better constantly with no end to them in sight. I also enjoy that adeuce both get matching gen 1 starters

RIDDLE ~ now riddle, unlike the other two, hasn’t got much if any pokemon experience or knowledge save for… maybe a few pokemon cards that chenya gave him when they were kids and he hid away somewhere safe, but he doesnt know much about pokemon at all. so what does this mean when he’s picking out his pokemon? well, he doesnt lol. he gets someone else to choose for him based on what’s “optimal” bc he doesnt want a bad pokemon and trey ends up picking cyndaquil for him cus he thinks that cyndaquil/typhlosion and riddle are similar (also he doesn’t know pokemon meta) and riddle grows very attached to his cyndaquil, probably ends up giving it a nickname too. no one tell him about nuzlockes, he will cry at the thought of loosing his cyndaquil (and hes died a lot in games, hes learning tho)

CATER ~ im ngl cater is one of the last people i assigned a pokemon to so if it seems slapped on then thats why but also i still think the vibes work so well with him. if this was like an actual twst characters in a pokemon world au cater would absolutely be a pokemon coordinator or some sorta thing like that. definitely take a lottaaa photos with cute pokemon too, he’d be rly drawn to any cute pokemon HOWEVER (bc there’s always a however) the pokemon he picks isnt one of the main pokemon that most people would consider the cutest out of the starters, its one he’s very drawn to and finds super cute regardless of what others think. this pokemon is… CHIMCHAR! idk if others will agree with me on this but i personally think cater and chimchar would make such a cute combo and his chimchar would be super camera ready at all times, they’d have so many selfies together. i didnt mean for caters thing to be so long but to wrap things up fast he plays the games bc theyre recommended and popular, and has watched some shows for the same reason however he’s not a die hard fan of pokemon.

TREY ~ and finally the dorm mother! as mentioned in riddle’s thing, chenya was very into pokemon as a child (still is for nostalgia probably) and thus he tried his hardest to also get trey into pokemon though trey only ever rly got as far as watching some of the shows and collecting some of the cards. he actually knows how to play the pokemon card game the official way though! which is certainly a surprise considering the fact he forgot the basic type matchups. when the others get trey back into pokemon he ends up growing attached to chespin very quickly. Just a little cute quirky grass guy, he grows attached instantly. he likes all the grass type starters a lot but chespin stands out to him most, probably because he has an attachment to the kalos region too. he finds chespin in the show to be a very charming lad and now he wants a chespin/chesnaught pokemon card.

I’ll do the others when i feel like it i just didnt wanna cram all 22 students on one post thats a lotta effort. maybe ill do an actual twst characters in a pokemon universe someday tho who knows

I kinda wonder, what could bakugou do (hori write bakugou to do) to make him less popular with the "anti" crowd. Like He was a horrid child no doubt and people who try to put blame on Deku or lessen the terrible shit bakugou did aren't great. But as we don't rly see it, we have to assume bakugous behaviour wasn't stopped, we only ever saw his mum "punishing" him when he was being rude after getting kiddnapped. Nothing will excuse what bakugou did, but he has stopped? He's overall a harsh person but he's not harrassing and bullying people anymore, specifically not deku, he's trying to attone for what he did to deku and has now apologised for it. His behaviour was never viewed as justified or good in the series, he's a scary figure in middle school, we're not meant to like his behaviour, so the series itself hasn't justified his actions.

As someone who relate to both bakugou and deku more than I'd like to admit (never told someone to jump tho, that's fucked lol) so I can 100% understand not liking or even hating bakugou but as someone who's not 15 anymore, looking back I also made a lot of really shitty decisions and like bakugou have tried to make up for it, and like deku I was 'friends' with people who hurt me.

Is there anything he can do for the "antis" to just dislike him rather that be "anti"?

Hey there, anon! I think I’ve spoken about this only tangentially and/or in my main Bakugo meta, which is too big for anyone sane to read. So yeah, let’s chat here!

For me personally—and that’s all I can ever do: speak personally. I think it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to please the “anti” crowd. Each fan will be looking for something slightly different in Bakugo’s character, much of which might contradict what a “stan” is currently enjoying. Given how charged a character he is, I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire fandom to like him—what I’m looking for hinges on having a different reading of the story than you seem to. Meaning, I think the series does justify his behavior. Not in any overt, super obvious way like having all the characters go, “Wow, Bakugo! I sure do love how you threaten people all the time. That’s super cool and heroic!” Things are rarely that straightforward. Rather, it’s in a more subtle, but consistent manner that paints a rather conclusive picture across hundreds of chapters.

Simply put, Bakugo is continually rewarded for his actions. Or, if not outright rewarded, his actions are ignored in a way that implies silent acceptance. Characters may not always like what he does... but they're willing to let it slide because Bakugo's heroism was always treated as a given, not something he had to earn and prove.

With the ever necessary disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up yet, here’s a list of some of the things that stood out to me in the first half of the series:

Bakugo’s bullying made him the most popular kid in school.

Bakugo’s bullying was ignored by/outright supported by the teachers.

Bakugo’s bullying did not hinder him from getting into U.A., one of the most prestigious hero schools around.

Despite acting horribly throughout his time at U.A. too, this behavior was continually ignored by the teachers and other authority figures around him.

Bakugo’s struggle to realize that other people aren’t “trash” doesn’t hurt his achievements in any way. He still gets top scores, still wins the tournament, etc.

Bakugo’s behavior gets him special attention from All Might, the greatest hero and Bakugo’s personal idol.

His behavior doesn’t make others dislike him in any manner that’s taken seriously. Everybody is still willing to not just put up with Bakugo, but—in time—start treating his behavior as a quirk (no pun intended lol) that they’re secretly fond of, rather than something he should legitimately be striving to change. Kirishima is the most overt example of this.

This is compounded by his behavior constantly being framed as humorous. Much like with Mineta’s perverted actions, characters might superficially go, “No, that’s bad!” but the story never demands any significant development because then we’d lose the “joke” of Bakugo screaming in rage at the slightest inconvenience, threatening to murder someone over nothing, constantly belittling everyone around him in a “funny” manner, etc. When fans talk about development of a manga character as archetypal and extreme as Bakugo, most don’t really want to see significant change to his base personality. Because then that would result in someone who doesn’t look like the “real” Bakugo: someone nicer, more even-tempered, more mature, etc. But for those of us who were never drawn to that personality in the first place, the continued acceptance of his rude, egotistical, and violent behavior is discomforting. The easiest comparison I can draw is between this and Bakugo’s mother slapping him. That slap is meant to be another “joke”—we see it constantly in shonen anime, something "humorous" you shouldn’t take too seriously because haha, it's just an overprotective mother—but many fans do take it seriously, using it as the basis for a whole “Bakugo was abused and this explains his behavior” reading. Well, I take the “joke” of Bakugo’s threats and insults seriously, especially in a story that starts with something like telling Izuku to jump off the roof. In the same way that many fans want others to treat Bakugo’s mother as a serious topic that has had a negative influence on his development, I want the series to take Bakugo’s everyday actions seriously as a negative influence on… well, everyone around him. But it doesn’t. His base personality is grudgingly adored.

The above two points are seen most overtly in Izuku, who never wavers in his respect for Bakugo despite how Bakugo treats him. Not just prior to U.A., but during their training too. Izuku, as the protagonist, is the emotional heart of this tale, so when he talks about how inspiring Bakugo is, it encourages the reader to see his behavior as inspiring too. Rather than, as said, something that needs to change. Izuku's continued friendship with Bakugo, his adoration of him, and his acceptance of the way he's treated has severely warped how the entire story sees Bakugo's actions. After all, if #pure Izuku can see the good in Bakugo, why can't everyone else? He must not be that bad after all.

I could get into detailed analyses of all the above—like how Bakugo was the one comforted after attacking Izuku outside the dorms at night and how the messed up relationship he has with Izuku is upheld as something to nurture; how the remedial courses he had to take were made to be rather silly, thereby undermining their supposed importance to his development; how Bakugo’s kidnapping had nothing to do with his flaws, but much of the fandom uses it as a way to dismiss any appropriate consequences because, “Hasn’t he suffered enough?” etc.—but in the interest of keeping this within a readable length, I’ll leave it at that. The point is that Bakugo has always been privileged when it comes to his behavior, resulting in others either outright praising it, ignoring it, or demanding that he change a miniscule bit, which always keeps him far below the standards of both his peers and the expectations of a hero. Everyone in 1-A must learn to be even better than the good people they already are... Bakugo needs to learn that other people aren't dirt at the bottom of his shoes. It's never been a particularly impressive development when pit against the rest of the class. All of which can make something like an apology feel pretty hollow. Yes, he’s apologized and I say with all seriousness that that’s great! But how does that apology stack up against 300+ chapters of content? As Bakugo’s words highlight, he's been a really awful person up "until now": he was consumed by Izuku being “miles ahead of [him],” he “looked down on [him]” because he didn’t have a quirk, he “didn’t want to recognize that,” he “hated that,” “grew distant,” “tried to beat you down,” “opposed you and tried to show my superiority over you,” and ends it all with, “it probably doesn’t mean anything telling you all this” before finally getting to the “I’m sorry.” This is basically a laundry list of how horrible a person Bakugo has been for the entire series, with an acknowledgement that this apology is coming really, really late. This is the moment where I could START to like Bakugo, depending on how he acts form here on out, but that pivotal moment arrived after six years of content and in the final arc of the story. It’s too late. Bakugo needed this kind of self-reflection and positive action 250+ chapters ago so he could (hopefully) grow into a better person across the story, not at the story's end. What we got instead is 322 chapters of him being a really horrible person, but the story going out of its way to excuse or even praise that behavior the majority of the time.

As a quick comparison to end on, I think what Bakugo needed was what Soo Jin got in True Beauty. You don’t need to have seen the drama to follow along. The tl;dr is that she has a lot of the core qualities of Bakugo: an all-consuming drive to win that was created due to abusive parents with high expectations, resulting in her bullying a peer to a pretty horrific extent. The difference between them is how the story frames their actions. When Soo Jin becomes the bully she loses everything. Rather than succeeding academically, her grades plummet, making it clear that this anxiety and self-doubt (things the fandom keeps insisting Bakugo is struggling with, but that rarely ever show up in the text) is actually impacting her day-to-day life. Her best friend drops her because she’s not going to support her choices. The boy she likes rejects her. She’s eventually forced to start over somewhere new - which importantly separates her from the girl she was bullying - and get some distance from her parents, resulting in the growth needed to become a healthier, happier, good person again. So when Soo Jin apologizes to the girl she hurt, it feels earned. The story continually recognized how horrific her actions were and put her into a place where she either had to change, or continue losing at everything else that was important to her. Bakugo? Bakugo doesn’t lose. Oh, he claims he does because he’s comparing himself to Izuku constantly, but that’s just him thinking in extremes. He still wins academically. Still wins many battles. Still wins at having friends. Still wins by maintaining the prestige of being a U.A. student. Still wins by getting All Might’s attention. Still wins by receiving Izuku’s respect and an agreement to maintain this rivalry that Bakugo is so obsessed with. Bakugo comes out well 99% of the time, he just thinks he's "lost" because he can't stand not being the absolute best.

For me, the story needed to have Bakugo face consequences for his behavior, not receive rewards and/or have others ignore it, and that revelation/apology needed to come way, way sooner. For me the issue is not a specific action that Horikoshi can have Bakugo do in the next chapter and them bam, I like him now. The problem is Bakugo’s entire concept, how he’s received by the entire cast, and his run across this entire series. "Entire" is the key word there. Which is why the “But he’s apologized. What more do you antis want?” reactions don’t sit well. What we wanted is a better written redemption arc across those 300+ chapters, not a single scene that’s meant to have us forget all the other problems inherent in the story. At this point it’s a far more complicated situation than, “Bakugo just needs to do X, Y, and Z and then we’re golden.” At the end of the day, Horikoshi failed to make me like him as a person and I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to change Bakugo enough to make him likable to me. Bakugo was never the sort of character I’d be inclined towards without a serious, nuanced redemption arc, but sadly, a core, crucial part of that redemption arc took six years to arrive. At this point there’s no way to change the problems in Bakugo’s writing for that huge chunk of the series and not enough time left in the series, it seems, to do the work we should have seen across the entire run. Honestly, idk if the Bakugo we'll get going forward is someone I can just dislike as opposed to being really uncomfortable with, but my money is on there being too little story left and too much investment in upholding Bakugo's base personality for that to happen. I could absolutely be proven wrong! But I think the problems are structural and needed to be better dealt with from page one, not hastily patched over in the final hour.

You know after reading and reading and reading peoples theories and the meta from before the spn finale aired and the meta writers reactions to the finale I think I have a theory of my own. We don't have any answers tho, so this is pure speculation. If you wanna add something to support or discredit any of this that's cool but there's too many things floating around. Know I dont have proof for this conclusion at all. A lot of what I say is just guesses based on previous facts.

This all came together in my head when I realized how much this finale REEKS of the original producers and who the show was originally for. It REEKS of Robert Singer. Like if the execs started saying they didn't want it, Robert Singer was the one pushing that the story was about the brothers. That kinda thing.

Then, I was thinking of the problems in this episode and it struck me these are all of Supernatural biggest issues and to be honest all of it feels completely deliberate.

Take the sexism for example, Supernatural in it's later seasons largely out grew this, we have Jody, Rowena, Donna, Charlie, Mary, Claire (and even a wayward sisters pilot with MORE women/girls) all making regular appearances. They're mainly good characters and mostly aren't there to hurt our boys. Rowena, of course, is the one outlier being very about herself but it's clear she still cares for them, I mean its part of her development. But they're all real, with character flaws just like everyone else. (And we have Death too and she was POC 😭 THANK GOD)

Now look at the earlier half of Spn, we have Ellen and Jo, who's appearances were far in between. There's Bela in season 3, recurring for quite a bit (5 eps), but she is a character that is only there for herself, definitely not found family (unlike Ellen & Jo), and she's got more episodes in season 3 than Ellen and Jo in season 2 who aren't seen again til season 5. The "fans" send in hate mail after hate mail to try to get these characters off, and eventually they are. Then there's Ruby who's character stayed for a whole two seasons and was a largely recurring character. Why does she get to say so long? She's a plot device. She's supposed to be there to betray Sam. She has to stay (plus Jared obviously likes her). But she's not just a character the writers like writing about. Same with Lilith. Obviously not as recurring but still a plot device. Did they get hate mail tho? You can bet on it. Why? because tHeY'rE gOnNa PuSh ThE bOyS (Dean and Sam) aPaRt ThE sHoW iS aBoUt ThE bOyS oNlY. Without even thinking about the hate mail, just notice how large the difference is from how women are seen in the earlier seasons to the later seasons. Misha got tons of hate mail too for being a character that could split up the boys (probably only being allowed to say because he a man, thanks sexist producers and execs).

Only after Castiel was killed off and then Castiel fans successfully (thank you guys) got him back on the show did the hate mail largely simmer, which means female character's were allowed to stay! Which has lead us to a show with a good amount of female characters. But can you imagine having to kill characters off time and time again because people keep complaining that the show is "only about the boys." Fun times really.

So now we get to this final and we see sexism. But it wasn't just the plain old regular sexism you find in the earlier days of spn. Because now, there ARE women to talk about, talk to. But this episode was DESOLATE women wise, unless they were used for plot (which is also sexist!). Small scenes, they're barely there. Women gets her tongue cut out. Random women from s1 gets killed. Sam doesn't SPEAK of Eileen. Nothing. No mention of any female characters from the boys mouths unless they were from/in this episode itself. That's WIERD. I know we've all said it. But that goes beyond forgetting about characters. I mean its SAM'S GIRLFRIEND for Christ's sake. There is NO REASON they couldn't have said Eileen's name. Notice how Sam's wife is just... faceless. This is literally an age old sexist trope. Like... one of the things about bringing Mary back to life for s12+ is that it takes this trope... of basically a generic mother, and gives her life and feelings, whether you like them or not, they're real feelings. They said Mary isn't just a mom she's a person. Mary's existence in the later half of spn is to fix this kind of female tropes that fall upon her character, to not let these her stay a 2 dimensional character. They said we should know she's more than just the mom who tried to save her kid. Do that is the exact opposite of Sam getting a nameless, faceless wife. The sexism of the old spn wasn't just brought back, it was completely amplified. It wasn't just accidental or some exec "fixing" the story it was DELIBRATE. Whoever wrote that, didn't do ALL OF THAT by accident. Because an exec or a producer who doesn't see the flaws in old supernatural isn't going to write it that deliberately.

Let's bring it back to s10 when Charlie was killed (singer was mainly to blame). Dead in the bathtub, age old classic of burying ur gays. If you were here you know people never let Supernatural live that down. THEY KNOW what bury ur gays means. Hell, Robbie Thompson left because of Charlie's death and you think the writers don't know what it means? I mean both Bobo Berens (especially) and Steve Yockey's careers are centered around LGBT+ storytelling and you think they don't know? They know. They know.

And Dean wasn't just apart of the bury your gays trope, it is so far BEYOND that. Dean being killed on a rusty nail/screw, the tongues ripped out, things that seemed to be meant for other people. Jensen's acting in the last two episodes was giving us "DEAN RECIPROCATES" but no one ever actually saying it. I think it's clear that Dean was killed for being Bi. They didn't address it for a reason, they just silenced him. His narrative was supposed to be about letting him be HIM for the first time, to say what his feelings are instead of having them miscommunicated, and instead of doing that, they just silenced him. And the more we look at this scene the more horrific it gets. The more it's a complete slap in the face and it's supposed to be. Some guy who knows nothing about the LGBT can't write a scene this horrific.

Some guy who knows nothing about Dean couldn't write a scene that deconstructs all of Dean's character development and gives Dean his worst nightmare. I MEAN DEAN WANTED TO LIVE HIS LIFE! THEY DIDNT HIDE THAT JOB APPLICATION (or whatever job related thing that was) IN THERE FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST SITUATION. Dean isn't Barney from HIMYM. If you watched HIMYM then you'll know Barney went from being a stereotypical ladies man and treating women terribly to being in love with a women and treating her right and working hard for it. The last episode of HIMYM (why its so bad) Barney's character development is thrown out and he's back to being a stereotypical ladies man. You don't need to know Barney's character very much to do that.

To kill Dean during a hunt his father never finished, to not have anyone at his funeral, to have Dean die young like his life didn't matter. Those are Dean's worst fears and you'd only truly know that if you watched the gin episode in s3, where they are basically laid out for you. You HAVE to know Dean's character to tear him apart like this.

This episode took all the core elements of the show and did a complete 180° the name of the episode itself is "Carry on" and Dean and Sam very much did not carry on. Sam grieving his entire life so that he good get to heaven and see Dean again. Dean being ready to live his life, despite the enormous pitfalls and learning to love himself only to be killed. "Family don't end with blood." Um.... it did in that episode either literally with Dean's death or you know BECAUSE NONE OF THEIR FOUND FAMILY WAS THERE. Not Jack, Not Cas, Not Eileen, Not Donna, Not Charlie, Not Jody, Not Claire... on and on we go. No one was there, nobody was even mentioned. Dean's funeral, no one even called that we know of. It was just Sam and Dean. Sam and Dean. And Bobby. Don't forget Bobby. But yeah Sam and Dean.

That's what the show is about right, the brothers.

Except it's not anymore. It hasn't been for years.

Cas not being there was deafening but it brought us to a major point. Becky. Becky's telling us about the terrible ending.

And many of us are wondering why would they literally tell us this is the worst ending and then... make it the ending.

Now before we move on, it very apparent many of you think Dabb doesn't ship Deancas. And Dabb doesn't care about the characters.

Say what you will about any plot holes in his writing, the point he is VERY GOOD at writing the characters, and giving us good ones.

Why do we know Dabb ships Deancas? (ill say when its cowrote, other wise its not) cowrote ep 8.02 - purgatory "I prayed to you, Cas, every night" "Cas, Buddy, I need you." "I have a price on my head, and I've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you." 8.08 Hunteri Heroici - Cas helps them hunt! 😊❤ Dean & Cas have a serious convo about why Cas doesn't want to see/go to heaven. 8.22 Dean's mad at Cas. Sam's explanation of why Dean should be easy on Cas: "It's Cas." Dean then points out how he'd knife anybody else if they did what Cas did. 9.10 - Cas comforts Dean when Dean can't take seeing Sam (Gadreel) being tortured anymore. Also tons of Cas. 9.20 (bloodlines) - Canonical couple parallel "I was there, where were you" 9.22 The angels make Cas choose between them and killing Dean and he "gave up an entire army for one guy" 10.09 Claire's reintroduction. Cas heavy ep. DeanCas date. 10.22 THE PRISONER - u know the ep where Dean beats the shit out of Cas but loves him enough to not kill him.

We COULD keep going but I think I've made my point. If Robert Singer is the guy that is like "the show is about Sam and Dean only" Andrew Dabb is the DeanCas shipper. And you could even say a Cas stan.

Notice! How in s13 for SEVEN episodes we have a story that revolves around Dean's grief about losing Cas. Notice! How often the stories in all these seasons have a focus on their relationship. THAT is Andrew Dabb. If it weren't for him doing that, we wouldn't be able to easily say after Dean's lack of a response to Cas' confession, that Dean reciprocates.

To me, when I was (binge) watching s12 for the first time, I thought damn this is really got a lot of DeanCas. So I went to look at who was in charge, who was writing. I saw Andrew Dabb, associated him with Deancas episodes, saw all the new writers, Bobo, and then I saw that Yockey is known for same sex stories and it clicked. Dabb assembled a team to give us Destiel. THAT WAS IN SEASON 12!!!!!!!!

The amount of people saying he's homophobic flabbergast me. Open your eyes! That isn't what's going on.

Imagine making a show and trying to right all the wrongs of Supernatural. Imagine trying to write the greatest love story ever told and you have the entire season planned out for it to end off beautifully, it may possibly be your greatest achievement when it's done and then boom. someone comes in and tells you you aren't allowed to make Dean bi or make destiel endgame, after he was most probably already given the go ahead.

Sure. You could imply he's bi or into cas still in a way. Still make nice-ish ending. just give everyone what the kinda want.

Or you could scrap the last season, nothing close to a canonical bisexual Dean Winchester or Deancas endgame in site. People can be done with it be happy with the show, continue to live their lives in ignorance as to how close they were to Canon destiel.

OR you can lead everyone to the very closest you can get them to what you were aiming for and then show everyone the ugly truth and reality. Light it all on fire. Burn the show to the ground in your wake. Try your darnedest to making these people's (the people saying no) pockets suffer. Show us, the audience, what happened. Show us what this show really is.

I've seen people talk about the ending being changed during covid but I dont think that happened. I think what happened was Dabb already had this season planned out before it even started. Obviously the details were wobbly but it was all lead up to this ending. Destiel endgame, Canon Bisexual Dean, whatever it was. They were ready to write the greatest love story ever told and then someone shut it down.

Imagine the pain that must have caused them to be told no when they already said yes. They must have been so excited to give this to us.

I think someone (some producers) told him what this show is "really" about. The brothers. Can you imagine, after being told no, some kinda bullshit like this is said to you: "Why aren't you bringing it back to the brothers, Andrew? that's what the shows about. What with all this homosexual stuff, you know the audience won't like that. Not really." Imagine the original producers pushing this kind of view on you. "You know when we started it was Sam and Dean. It should end with Sam and Dean." That kinda sounds like someone huh? huh.

So why give us a nice acceptable finale, when you can take every problem Supernatural's had either up front or behind the scenes and create a finale so incredibly bad that people don't want to watch it anymore.

Someone made a good point about how Sam was originally supposed to be the main focus (this isn't to put any hate on Sam or Jared). Dean and Sam are the main characters but Sam was supposed to be the focus and for Dean to have become the focus, must have annoyed the producers because... well here we are. They wouldn't listen to Jensen. The producers liked this ending. Jensen's opinion didn't matter to them.

In some ways, if this is really what happened, it can be seen as childish from Dabb. To hurt all of us like that. Yes, he's hurting the producers, the execs, the cw. But to hurt us? Yeah it stings.

But in other ways, if this is really what happened, this is Dabb showing us the muck and gunk under the shiny surface. The hate for Misha. The hidden hate for Jensen. The underlying sexism. The underlying homophobia. The people REALLY in charge don't care about us, they just want our money. He needed to open our eyes and free us, at least free the people that he was writing for. The people he sees that care about this show.

This is the ending the powers that be wanted and its a big fuck you for a reason. I dont think this is Dabb spitting in our faces for loving this show, I think this is him trying to get revenge for us.

But from here, you can see it how u want it. If this is really what happened, I'm not in charge of your emotions, if you wanna be mad be mad if you wanna be grateful be grateful. And you don't have to believe me either I said this is speculation.

Also, as for all of the rumors like there being shots to the confession scene that we didn't see, which Jensen himself implied, I think that might have been a last ditch effort to canonized DeanCas but obviously it was cut. Like the name change was pretty clear. As for Misha possibly having shot some stuff for 20 I dont know what to tell you. If it's true I dont know where the blame would lie.

I do think however, that if all this was the case, the writers were prepared to become villians here. I mean they told us the writers were villians with Chuck right? So. Who knows what went down so they could give us such a vile ending. It could've been the producers or the writers, who truly knows. I do think tho that people we "trust" did some pretty shitty things to push the narrative in certain directions so now one would see this as the actual ending that was coming.

So again do with my SPECULATION what you will. This was in no way meant to put Dabb on a pedestal or anything. Just meant to give a bit of perspective.

(Also Jensen didn't unfollow Dabb recently he was already unfollowed for years)

So true tho aroace gilyoung!!! Honestly when I first watched the show I interpreted their (all 3) relationship as like found family like they're siblings they're best friends they're each others most important person they bicker they care SO MUCH

I was a little disappointed when I saw most if not all the fics about their relationship were romantic but like I take what I can get but your qpr version is sooo appealing yes please

And Gilyoung so good so true she was probably my favourite from the three she's so headstrong and so caring and at the end she WILL get these guys to take care of themselves if it kills her

And the relationship development between all three, and just the general vibe of the show and the horror. I just love this show so much

omg yah! Gil Young is my absolute fav, hands down.

i love the trio a fckn lot and Choi Yoon will always have a soft spot in my heart (see: poetic suffering) but Gil Young takes the cake. Gil Young is everything! i admire her tenacity so much, the way she persevere and willing to do what's right, even if the law disagrees with her. she's just… S H E ! ! !

i haven't loved a female character so fully and wholeheartedly like this in a while 🥺 she has my heart and my admiration 💖

and, honestly, same… it's kinda sad that romantic fics are so predominant in the fandom… i also see them as found family. like, LITERALLY found each other. like wow… found each other in the first ep and found each other again in the last ep… full circle. fantastic metaphor ✨

anyway, as i said, i label their relationship as qpr only bcs conventional society would demand that they name their relations to one another and people would be like 'u aren't family, y'all aren't in the same family registry' or whatever tf bcs ive come to realize that a lot of people need to process all sort of relationships in relation to romance bcs they don't really understand that love doesn't only refer to romantic love smh

(also, sorry for the mini rant on love… i just hate how allos are dominating the discussion on love and refuse to see love beyond the romantic lense)

then again, i also understand the hetero ships bcs the writer and director be dropping subtle hints of possible Hwa Pyung/Gil Young and Choi Yoon/Gil Young here and there. and Hwa Pyung/Choi Yoon too lol so i can see why they ship Gil Young with the boys but nah, for me she's a kickass aroace that's just tired of all the allos around her haha

i love Choi Yoon, a massive soft spot for him and, as my fav, i want him to ✨SUFFER✨ i wanna read a fic/meta where the Catholic side of him is explored and explained. im so fascinated by the internal conflict that's caused by his religion but im not educated or aware enough to really understand. i really wanna write a character study fic that explores Choi Yoon as a person but im not well-versed enough in catholicism 🥲 i especially wanna explore his relationship with his hyung bcs i can tell how much he loves his hyung and how much his hyung loves him as well… his hyung was somewhat lucid enough to ask if he was at cram school before he went apeshit and murdered their parents. his hyung still remembered to care for him despite everything. his hyung loves him and im reminded of the way Itachi annihilated the entire Uchiha clan but kept Sasuke alive bcs he couldn't find it in him to killed Sasuke. (sorry about the Naruto segue rip im a weeb can u tell?)

anyway, a question just pops up into my head and that is: how tf does Hwa Pyung managed to still be sane and kind after all the shit Park Il Do put him thru? he's truly such a 'vast' and kind and beautiful character.
