Work-Life Balance

Georgia Stanway x reader fic
-> Reader is very much overworked, Georgia tries to convince her that it doesn't need to be that way
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
Georgia was not a fan of early training sessions, coming home at 2 in the afternoon just felt wrong, so it was safe to say, that she was especially happy when the session was pushed to later in the day.
It gave her the possibility to spend her morning with you, her girlfriend. And usually, the Brit was happy about that, but today was not one of them – The day started completely wrong.
She was alone. Sure, the two of you did not live together but you usually stayed at her place, and you had been there when going to bed last night. In her kitchen she found breakfast already made, a little note attached to it ‘picked up an early shift. See you tonight! -ly!’.
This was not how Georgia wanted to start her day.
Everybody at training noticed how off the usually bright and cheerful character was, especially Lina. “Hey, what’s up with you? Did your Wifey break up with you?” The German tried to lighten the mood, but seeing her friend's deep frown, she realized something was wrong.
With a defeated sigh Georgia continued packing her bag while avoiding eye contact. “She picked up another early shift.”
Lina’s head snapped over, knowing about your working history and all you did “Again?” The brunette continued to stare at her football boots, “Yeah, and after that she has to study all night.”
To be able to study at university and be able to afford an apartment was quite the feat, especially with no help from your family, so you worked two jobs, as a cashier in the early mornings or incredibly late evenings as well as at an elementary school in the afternoon. There you helped the kids whose parents worked later with their homework and played with them. Added on top of that were Lessons in University, homework and studying.
You had been doing both jobs just fine for a while, but upon meeting Georgia at your internship at Bayern, which was already stressing you out, more things were added to your calendar. Obviously, you wanted to be with the Brit but it was hard with the life you were living.
“I will see her tonight, if she comes to my place.” Lina's heart hurt a little seeing her friend so done with life.
“She really needs to give up that supermarket job.” Everyone knew that you hated working there, being yelled at by rude customers before ten in the morning was a blow to the day. But in your mind, having grown up with money insecurities, you needed to make as much money as possible, and this was an easy way to do so while being in Uni.
“Yeah, but if she quits, she can’t stay in her apartment. She is at my place all the time anyways but she will feel like a burden and she is scared of being dependent on me.” Georgia knew how your mind worked, even if she wasn’t happy with it. You moving in with her, was something she currently wished for with incredible fervor.
“She won’t be dependent on you though, she’ll still earn money. And when she’s got her degree, she can just start at Bayern, they already have a contract up for her.” Just like that the Brit had a new Goal in mind, and this one wasn’t on a football pitch.
Upon returning to her apartment, she almost missed your presence, if she hadn’t fallen over your shoes in the hallway. “Babe?”
No answer.
The apartment wasn’t big enough that you couldn’t have heard her, so where were you? The brunette didn’t have to look all that hard – a sock-clad foot could be seen peaking out from in front of the couch. “Baby?”
She still didn’t receive an answer and she quickly saw why – your study materials were distributed on her fluffy carpet with you asleep on your stomach on top of it all, face first into a book. With a chuckle Georgia picked up your materials, sorting them just how you liked it, the only thing missing was the book that was cushioning your face.
Even though the midfielder titled herself as “heavy-handed” she was ever so gentle with you, coaxing you out of your uncomfortable sleep, slowly but surely.
Just a few minutes later you were sat on the couch instead of in front of it, your girlfriend feeding you biscuit after biscuit.
“There you are, baby! Welcome back.” Your blurry eyes finally found her cute face.
“Need to study Gee.” As softly as the Brit could, she grabbed your hands and held them in her lap, as you tried to reach for your folders and notes. “Not right now Baby. We need to talk.”
Your tired mind went from zero to a hundred real quick. Wide eyes staring deep into Georgia’s. “Not like that baby. We need to talk about your work-life balance.”
You couldn’t help laughing. The only thing you kept thinking about were those IKEA ‘work–life–sleep’ advertisements that were all over Germany just a couple of years ago. “I’m serious.”
She was. The usually goofy grin on her face was gone, instead, she was quite expressionless. With a deep sigh, now knowing that she had your attention the midfielder started to explain her view.
“I think you should quit your second job and move in with me…” With a warm hand, she shushed you before you could even make a noise. “Just hear me out, okay?”
A small kiss was pressed to the corner of your mouth – the brunette hoping to convey, that she wasn’t mad or anything, that she just wanted the best for you. “Okay, your apartment is just a waste of money, you are here most of the time. We can put your desk and work things into my spare room, so while I work out you can keep me company while you work.”
You did that anyway, but usually, you just dragged a chair into the nearly empty room, trying to balance your books on your legs. “And then all my stolen hoodies are back in the closet, and you can just pick whichever one you want. We can cuddle every evening, and we can cook together. And we can-“
Now it was you who shushed Georgia with a soft kiss on her lips. The Brit could feel your smile, making her stop her rambling. “Alright – Sold! What else?”
The Bayern player was thankful that you listened to her. “Quit your job. You don’t need the money when you live here, and when you are done with Uni, you can work at Bayern.”
The silence in the room was heavy. Georgia could see your brain working overtime. “Fine. I’ll quit the hob at the supermarket, but I’ll continue working with the kids! I will not live here for free, I will contribute to the rent.”
The midfielder would never let you pay rent, but you didn’t need to know that, at least not now. “So we have a deal?”
Back was the goofy grin as the brunette stared at your extended hand, which she grabbed just to pull you closer and press a giggly kiss on your lips – “Deal.”

warnings: jealousy, little bit of angst (typical teenage drama 🙄), like one mention of not wanting to live, cursing, google translated spanish, lots of pov switches (my bad 😓), vague spoilers for the ballad of songbirds and snakes (like two lines abt it), clumsy confessions, denial (is it really denial if you just suck at feelings??)

"that was supposed to be my ice cream!" you marched up to a curly-headed boy, face scrunched up in childish anger. your parents were too busy catching up with friends to notice that you had strayed off.
said curly-headed boy turned to the sound of a shrill voice, his eyes meeting a pouty face with cheeks red in the summer heat. he raised the cone in his hand a bit higher. "this one?"
you nodded eagerly, hoping he was going to give it to you. "yeah!" you stretched out your hand to grab it from him, but the boy pulled it away at the last second.
he smiled mischievously, dimples flashing as he stuck his tongue out and licked a stripe up the stacked swirls of ice cream. "too bad!"
you gasped at the utter audacity of the other child, your bottom lip starting to tremble. one sniffle. two. soon, you were downright bawling on the sidewalk. the boy’s jaw dropped, his feet taking panicked little steps in place as he looked around.
"hey! hey, you can't cry! i'll ask my mama to buy you one!" he squeaked, trying to comfort you. he patted your back, which was quite hard to do with him bouncing around and holding an ice cream cone.
your sobs were quickly reduced into a sniffle as you blinked at him. "..really? and you're not gonna steal it this time?"
he nodded enthusiastically. "yep! i mean, no! i won't steal it!" he took your hand and ran to his mom, dragging you along.
you ran behind him, your tears replaced with excitement at the newly promised ice cream.
"mama!" the boy called out, stopping in front of a kind-looking woman who looked just like him. "meet my new friend!"
you smiled a bit shyly at the lady, giving her a wave.
she returned the gesture with a smile of her own, before facing the boy with a slight frown. "leo! sus padres podrían estar buscándola! did you ask her parents if she was allowed to go with you?" she chided, pinching his ear lightly.
leo cried out as his mother pinched his ear, even though he barely felt it. "no..! but le debo un helado!" he whined, shaking your interlocked hands for effect. "can you buy her one mama? pleaseee?"
she sighed in defeat, giving into two pairs of puppy eyes. "alright, alright. but we find her parents first, okay? what's your name?" she gave you a little wink, taking your other hand.
"i'm y/n!" you said with a bright smile as she agreed to get you a new ice cream. "my mommy and daddy are over there!" you pointed to a spot not too far from where you stood.
leo's mom nodded, leading your little trio in the direction you said. soon enough, you were reunited with your parents, who gave you a gentle scolding and thanked her. she explained the situation between you and leo, at which all the parents laughed at, much to your confusion. what was so funny about getting your (well, not exactly yours but you had your eyes on it, so, it was technically yours) ice cream stolen?
whatever, at least you got it at the end of the day—and a new friend!
ever since then, the two of you stuck together like glue. if elementary school teachers tried to separate you? either of you would throw a hissy fit. if your high school teachers tried to separate you? either of you would make up some elaborate bullshit about how well you guys work together and how productive the two of you would be (you were sure they never believed it, but they paired up the both of you anyway).
"like i know she probably didn’t get enough love as a child or something but does she have to take it out on her students? why even be a teacher?” you waved your hand in the air, the mess of papers on the desk long forgotten.
"exactly, like she really needs therapy." leo took his bite-ridden pencil out of his mouth to add a point.
"totally,” you agreed. “too bad it’s so expensive, otherwise-“
a cough behind you made you and leo turn around, already dreading the punishment about to befall you. you smile sheepishly at your history teacher, who had her arms crossed. "another word and i'll send you two to detention, you hear?"
the both of you shut your mouths and nodded in sync, waiting until she turned around to whisper. "she's feeling merciful today."
"detention!"
guess not.
you slumped against the desk, resting your head against your arms and sighed loudly. the teacher in charge of detention for the day gave you a glare, turning the page to his boring book about finance or something. you rolled your eyes once he looked away, and looked up at the clock. five more minutes.
you tapped a message on the desk, the morse code leo forced you to learn coming in handy once again. i'm so bored.
leo's head perked up from the similar slouch he was in. me too.
i'm coming over. you rapped your finger against the smooth wood. you were hungry just thinking about him and his mom's tacos. if you didn't know how much leo wanted to be a mechanic, you'd probably beg him to open a restaurant.
a little forward aren't you? he drummed his fingers back, raising his eyebrow.
just as you were about to reply, you were cut off with a "shh!" from the teacher, who then looked at his watch. he gave it a scowl, but motioned for the two of you to leave. "you're free to go."
the two of you raced to the door, eager to get out of the stuffy classroom.
"oh my gosh i thought he was never gonna let us leave!" you groaned, tugging on your backpack straps as you walked home with leo.
"i know! can't believe he wasted our precious hanging out time like that!" leo scoffed, nudging you with his shoulder.
you laughed, shoving him back. "exactly!"
the two of you walked in peaceful silence, up until leo tapped you on the shoulder and shouted, "tag, you're it!" and ran off ahead.
who runs with a backpack on? you didn't care, chasing after him and trying to get him. "not fair!" you yelled.
sprinting all the way, you made it to his house, panting and out of breath. as he leaned against the doorway, you smacked him upside the head. "you're it."
you didn't want to spend your friday afternoon doing extra work, but leo wanted the help and who were you to deny him? you knew it'd probably end up with the two of you on the couch, curled up next to each other and watching a (usually) pirated movie.
"so," leo started. you two were sprawled on your stomachs, doing homework on his wooden floor.
"what is it now?" you exhaled with exaggeration, not looking up from your book. your english teacher had said to read two chapters, but was that really enough? you were too invested, completely forgetting that you were supposed to help him analyze it.
"..wanna take a break?" he was already getting to his feet, looking down at you with a cheeky glint in his eyes.
you pretended to think. "hm, i don't know... shakespeare's getting really interesting..." you shrugged and turned back to your book.
leo pouted. "seriously!? he just spews random bullshit and everyone thinks its poetic!"
you kicked his foot, not letting the insult slide. "you know what? now i'm really not gonna take a break."
"oh come on! if i make you birria tacos will you come with me? my mom's been simmering the meat since earlier," he bargained, waggling his eyebrows.
"..maybe."
"holy shit." you moaned in bliss as you took a bite of one of the tacos leo had so kindly prepared. he chuckled at your reaction, it was the same every time he made it.
he grinned proudly, taking his plate from the coffee table and setting it on his lap. "good, right?" he switched on the tv, resting his other arm on the back of the couch.
you let out an unintelligible noise of agreement, mouth stuffed. you swallowed. "can we watch the new hunger games movie?"
he hummed, taking out his laptop and searching for it on some illegal website. "again? we already watched it in the theaters."
you rolled your eyes. "yes, again. it's my turn to pick."
his lips quirked up the slightest. "yeah, yeah." he clicked on the movie, connected his laptop to the tv and pressed play.
the two of you were watching intently as coriolanus snow kissed lucy gray like a starved man.
"goddamn," you breathed out.
"i know." leo nodded, his eyes flicking to you for a moment. your legs were folded under the blanket you guys shared. during the duration of the movie, the two of you had somehow huddled closer together, probably due to the cold, he thought. his arm was now over your shoulder, your knees touching his.
he felt something stir in his heart. maybe it was the kissing scene, maybe it was the underlying feeling of sadness that came with winter, but god did he suddenly get overwhelmed with the feeling of wanting a girlfriend. he'd probably flirt with every girl in the world if it meant he could find true love. he suddenly felt hyper-aware of the way you were nestled in his arms, of the casual way you two touched each other. leo would love to do these things in a romantic sense. but, not with you, of course. i mean, you were his bestest friend, it'd be weird to think otherwise.
your heart fluttered wildly as you played it cool, not letting the way his legs were intwined with yours affect you. you didn't know exactly when you started feeling this way, all you knew was that something about his touch never failed to send you sparks of fire.
but fire burns.
you heard leo suck in a breath. "you know your friend alicia?"
you froze, the butterflies in your stomach turning into ash. "yeah, she's my friend, 'course i'd know her."
"great, so you wouldn't mind setting me up with her, right?" he winked at you, tugging at the ends of your hair.
you bit your tongue, mood dampening. why did he always have to ruin the moment by asking about some other girl? i mean, am i not enough or something? "..i'll think about it."
he frowned. usually you'd agree right away. "is that a yes?"
"i told you i'd think about it, now can we just watch?" you turned back to the tv, eyes looking but not seeing.
leo didn't seem to get the hint, still pushing the topic. "why think? it's not like you haven't done it before! are you really not gonna help your best friend out?"
"maybe i'm really not," you said sarcastically. it was getting more and more difficult to keep the irritation from your voice, and he was already starting to notice.
"whoa, okay, what're you so mad about?" he took his arm off your shoulder, turning to face you directly. "did i say something wrong?"
"nope."
he took your sardonic tone as your usual sarcasm and kept prodding. "okay... so you'll help me then? i mean, that's all you're for! you don't wanna be my best friend and do your job?" he laughed, poking fun at you like usual. but the feeling in your gut twisted his offhand comment in a way that hurt.
"if you're just gonna keep me around to set you up with a bunch of girls then maybe i don't want to be your friend anymore!" you snapped, agitation finally breaking the thin mask of patience you had.
leo set down his empty plate on the table, needing to give his hands something to do. "i was just- you know that's not why you're my friend!" he chuckled incredulously.
you stayed silent, letting his words dissolve in the air.
his eyebrows furrowed at your lack of response, as if trying to decipher the finality of your words. "you don't.. you don't mean that do you?"
"maybe i do." you stood up, the blanket falling off your legs. you grabbed your backpack, a reminder of what you guys were supposed to be working on.
leo quickly followed suit, springing to his feet and speeding after you as you walked towards the front door. "wait! i was just kidding! c'mon we can talk about this!" a hint of desperation seeped into his voice as he grabbed your wrist.
"we already did." you shot him a glare over your shoulder. he froze. he'd never seen that aimed at him. playful irritation, sure, but never that. not to him. his hand dropped your arm in shock, and you took your leave.
"i said, are you trying to kill me!?" the tv was still on.
the walk to school was quiet without leo, that you'd admit. you even got up a half hour early just so you wouldn't see him. yeah, it was a little petty, but you weren't exaggerating in your words. he had other friends, you had other friends—you're choosing to ignore the fact that half of them were mutual—you guys would be fine without each other. especially you.
except you forgot the fact that you guys were seated next to each other for nearly all your classes. that was awkward. everyone around you sensed the tension in the air, with you pointedly looking away from leo, at the board, and him trying to do the same. you could feel his leg shake the table as he bounced his knee, as well as the side glances he gave you.
even so, you continued to ignore him and the stupidly cute way his lips pursed into a frown. you weren't getting over it that easy.
leo fucked up. like, seriously fucked up. he hasn't fucked up this bad since.. well, since his invention quite literally blew up in his face. but this? this was like your friendship figuratively blew up in his face! and it felt even worse. he took a deep breath, rolling over in his bed with his blanket half-off. he brought the fabric up to his nose, inhaling the faint scent of your perfume that had stayed since last friday. without you, his thoughts felt louder than usual. they ran free in his mind, ranging from what should i eat for dinner? to god, did i mess up our whole friendship? was i taking her for granted when i kept asking her for relationship advice? why did i even do that? i didn't even really like any of those girls. what's wrong with me?
he curled up into a ball, squeezing the blanket to his chest and burying his face in it. leo willed himself to cry, but no tears would come. the overwhelming feeling in his chest had no way to escape. his heart thumped heavily, each painful beat reminding him of why he should've never been allowed to live.
"...and that's why you should- hey! are you even listening?" piper frowned, raising an eyebrow at leo, who was picking at his food.
he didn't answer, too busy moving the gross cafeteria food around his tray as he drooped against the table.
"okay, i know that you've got your little lover's quarrel with y/n, but you've gotta stop sulking and start doing." piper crossed her arms, eyeing him with a very unimpressed look. "did you seriously not hear a word i said? talk to her! apologize! it's been a week already!"
leo groaned, his head resting in his arms. “i know! and- wait did you just say ‘lover’s quarrel!?’” his head shot up, face feeling warm all of a sudden. “pipes, she’s just a friend! like you!”
piper gave him a disbelieving hum. “‘just a friend’ my ass! everyone can see how you look at her!” that’s why all the girls you make her set you up with never go on a second date.
leo genuinely looked confused. “what? i look at her normally, what are you talking about?”
jason, who was silent throughout the whole exchange, chortled a laugh. the two whipped their heads to him, the sudden noise from him surprising. "are you serious? leo, i don't think even i'm that oblivious!" he shared a look with piper that only the two would understand. ugh. another couple thing leo feels he'll never get.
leo's eye twitched. "oblivious about what? y/n's my best friend, i don't see what's so weird about that!"
the pair sighed. "you'll get it one day," jason said firmly, clapping him on the shoulder with solemn resolution.
"okay..?"
a whole week. leo had never gone without talking to you for a whole week! this was driving him insane! yeah, he knew you were mad at him and by default, he was supposed to be mad at you, but it was too much! next period, leo thought resolutely. i'll get her to talk to me next period. which just so happened to be his last period because although he had been thinking of this the whole day, he was too nervous to confront you earlier. he took a deep breath in and walked into chemistry class.
fate must hate him. or maybe his science teacher. right when when he slipped into his seat beside you, she clasped her hands together and cleared her throat. "class! today were going to be switching seats!" leo swore he saw her look at him as he said that. what did he ever do to her!? his heart sunk as he realized he might not sit next to you anymore. surely the teacher's gonna keep us together? i mean, they've all done that since like, the start of the year! she won't be any different.. right?
oh he was so wrong. leo pouted in his spot at the back of the class, watching you from across the room as you chatted it up with some jock. why is she being so smiley!? isn't she supposed to be mad? i mean, yeah, she's only mad at me, but doesn't that mean she's supposed to be grumpy in general!? why am i the only one who looks affected by this!?
the girl next to him cleared her throat, snapping him out of his thoughts. "uh, we need to start the experiment," she said without emotion, as if the mere action of talking to him was boring. seriously, why did everyone hate him today? it's not like they know anything that happened!
"oh.. right." leo took his notebook out and set it to the side, moving the vials to the center of the desk. he felt the girl's stare dig into his side, like she was looking at him with disdain. leo sighed. this was going to be a long period.
how did leo even end up here? parties weren't really his thing. he only came because he heard that you'd be here, but you were nowhere to be seen. leo leaned against a wall, trying not to look like a complete loser as he stood by himself. he took out his phone, navigating to his trusty weather app. where were you? if not you, then jason and piper? even percy or annabeth would do! they're probably each hooking up in a bathroom or something.. he thought with a grimace, trying to get the mental picture out of his head. leo wandered around with a cup of fanta, hoping to see you in the crowd.
you sipped from your red solo cup, the bubbly taste of soda delightfully stinging your tongue. this party's kinda boring... it'd be more fun with- you cut off your thoughts with a shake of your head. whatever. you had girl friends you could hang out with. as you made your way to them, a tap on your shoulder got your attention.. is it..? you turned around. it wasn't. you ignored the feeling in your stomach and smiled at the familiar—but not familiar enough—face of your new seatmate.
"oh hey! i didn't know you were coming!" you greeted with a smile.
he laughed, raising his eyebrow. "you think i'd miss this? i mean, look at me!" he gestured to himself quite vainly. "i throw these kinds of parties!"
you chuckled, nodding along to be polite. "uh, yeah, for sure!"
the both of you fell into an awkward silence that seemed to stretch out for forever.
leo spotted you across the room, the chatter around him seeming to die down as he saw you with that guy. i mean, seriously, he wasn't even your type! and, he'd know your type! like, weren't you guys just talking shit about jason's football friends? you could do so much better. like.. like me. leo's eyes widened. holy fuck. that's it! the feeling in his chest was akin to tightening the last screw of his project. the words his two friends had said to him earlier came rushing back with sudden clarity. they day he finally got it was sooner than expected. with a determined blaze in his heart, he slipped through the crowd and made his way to you.
you took the lull in your conversation as a sign to go to your other friends. "so, i'm gonna-"
"hey, i was going to-" he started.
the both of you stopped mid-sentence after speaking at the same time. you guys laughed it off, with you waving off his muttered apology.
"you can go first," you said, dipping your head at him to continue.
he cleared his throat, looking into your eyes intently. "well, i was wondering if you'd wanna go ou-"
"y/n!" leo strode up to you as if the fight between the two of you had never happened.
your face scrunched up in confusion, too perplexed to remember that you were supposed to be ignoring him. "leo? what are you-" he cut you off, directing his words to the other guy.
"hey, sorry if i interrupted something, but i gotta talk to y/n for a sec," leo flashed his teeth, mischievous dimples showing.
the jock's eyes widened as he took a step back. "oh.. oh, my bad man! i didn't think you guys were- are you really?" he laughed with obvious embarrassment, shaking his head as he retreated. "guess so.." he muttered under his breath as he faded into the crowd.
leo's hand slipped around your waist as he weaved the both of you in between people. his jaw was clenched, a sight you've only seen when he was concentrated on one of his many inventions. "what the hell are you doing?" you repeated your question, ignoring the way his touch sent familiar sparks down your spine. you shied away from it, half to push away your feelings and the other to keep up your fight out of pure pettiness.
his hand twitched as you moved away, his eyes narrowing as he stared straight ahead. but leo made no move to grab you again, ever the gentleman. "just come with me. please."
his tone itself was enough to make you listen to him without question. never had you seen him so.. serious. you found yourselves in an empty guest room, music thumping softly behind the walls.
"y/n," leo murmured, finally speaking as he turned around. his eyes were shifty, looking everywhere but directly into yours. you could see the way he chewed on the inside of his lip, as if rehearsing the words he had yet to say.
"i- i don't want you to talk to that guy." he blurted out after a beat of silence. his cute face wasn't enough to distract you from his words, however.
"excuse me?" you stared at him, your rose-tinted glasses shattering immediately.
leo shifted on his feet, realizing how off-putting he sounded. "not- not like that! sorry, i mean like-" he swallowed thickly, his leg starting to bounce.
"fuck i really suck at this, huh?" he muttered under his breath, before daring to look into your eyes.
"i mean i want you to talk to me instead because.. i like you. i want to be the one you talk to, like we used to. but- more than that because i like like you." he fumbled over his words, trailing off at the end as his eyes dipped down once again.
what? you opened your mouth to answer but he beat you to it to continue.
"i'm really sorry for how i acted like a jerk. and taking you for granted and making you set me up with practically every girl you knew. to tell you the truth, i don't know why i did that, 'cause i never really like any of 'em. or i thought i did and then i just, didn't and-" he would've rambled on forever if you hadn't cut him off with a kiss.
you heard him squeak in the back of his throat, hands tensing at his sides before gingerly wrapping around your waist, as if he was scared of messing up again. the both of you pulled away after a soft minute, his disbelieving eyes staring back at your playful expression. boy, did he miss the way you looked at him like that.
"took you long enough." you laughed, hitting his shoulder lightly. "better not make me set you up with anyone ever again."
his face broke into a wide grin, never faltering even as you punched him. he brought you back into his arms, hugging you tightly. "the only person i'd want to be set up with is you." he drew back only slightly, his hands trailing up your body until he cupped your face, squishing your cheeks gently. "so? will you let me take you on a date?"
your smile was one that rivaled the sun, one he'd like to center his world around forever. "are you kidding? obviously!"
the kiss he gave you after was one you'd remember forever.
("twenty bucks jason, pay up!" piper whispered, peering through the crack in the door.
"..fuck.")

authors note: Heyyyyyyy everybody! Very happy that I finally finished this. I love how it ended up and I hope y'all will like it as well! I hope Toji isn't unlikeable here, part of the reason it took so long. Where they live is not specified, but it is heavily based on American culture, so the way Megumi's school is set up is based off of American elementary schools. Okay, I think that's all. Enjoy!
“I can’t wait for my mom to see my project. Ms. Ieiri said I had the best one.”
“She only said that because she didn’t want you to cry like you always do, Miwa.”
Megumi snickered at Yuuji’s jab. They were on the bus finally going back home after a long school day. Him and Yuuji sat together, Yuuji doing most of the talking to the other students like usual.
“I can’t wait for the butterflies to hatch,” Yuuji said excitedly. “My dad’s gonna love them.”
“Butterflies don’t hatch, stupid.” Miwa threw a balled up piece of paper at him. “They sprout.”
“Nuh-uh!”
“Yeah-huh!”
“Hey, Megumi,” The boy looked up at the seat in front of him. Yuta Okkotsu peered down at him over the top. “Is your dad coming to see the butterflies?”
He was referring to the class project. All of 4th grade was learning about the process of metamorphosis and the school had a raffle to see which class won the opportunity to care for a bunch of caterpillars and get to see them as butterflies. Their class won and their teacher decided to showcase the butterflies at the school’s quarterly open houses.
Megumi gingerly shook his head. “Dad never comes to open houses.”
“But you were the one who watched their temperature everyday! So like, you basically made them.” Yuuji stops his argument with Miwa to interject.
All Megumi could do was shrug before the bus finally reached his stop. They all waved goodbye to him as he hopped off with a few other kids. Walking down the street to his house, the smile that was on his face began to drop. While he loves his dad, he wishes he would be more involved in his schooling. On field trips he saw his friends’ parents be volunteer chaperones and whenever the school had events, like the semester kick off, their whole families would be there. His dad didn’t seem to care about those things. He only ever asked him if he did his homework, only emailed the teacher about grades, and only went to parent-teacher conferences which he despised.
His new mom, you, wasn’t really involved either. Megumi doesn’t blame you though. He’s sure you just don’t want to overstep any boundaries or make anyone uncomfortable despite his bio mom not really caring. Actually, his mom didn’t care about anything he did either. Not even his grades or behavior in school. Huh. Maybe that’s why dad divorced her.
Megumi’s got to see those butterflies no matter what it takes. He should talk to you about it. Maybe he can convince you. Because Mom and Dad aren’t going to be moved.
He sees you sitting in your car in the driveway. You usually do get home whenever Megumi does. This would be the perfect time to talk to you without his love sick dad interfering and trying to get your attention. You seemed to be eating something, so you weren’t paying attention to your surroundings. He taps on the door and you look up, frantically trying to hide your food.
When you realize it’s Megumi, you relax. You unlock your door and he opens it up. “Hey, baby,” you tell him endearingly.
He smiles widely at you. “Hey, Y/N.” He looks down at your lap to see a Chipotle bowl sitting in your lap. You were almost done with it. “You got Chipotle?”
“I had it for my lunch but I didn’t finish it,” you explain, taking another bite. “I want to eat it before your dad sees it so he doesn’t try and get any.” Megumi giggles. His dad does have a bad reputation of stealing his and your food. “You can have some, though.”
Megumi hops in the car and closes the door, taking the bowl from your hands. He eats a few bites and hands it back to you. The both of you continue to exchange the bowl, finishing it quickly. It’s when you two are at the last few bites that you speak up. “So, how was school today?”
“Really good! We got our projects back today.”
“The one where you draw the metamorphosis cycle?”
Megumi nods and swallows the food in his mouth. “Uhm, I actually wanted to talk to you about something.” You get a worried look on your face and he quickly dismisses it. “No, it’s nothing bad. I just…uhm…here.” He reaches into his book bag and pulls out a folder. In the folder, he pulls out a sheet of paper and hands it to you. Looking at it, you gasp in excitement. It was an RSVP slip for the coming open house.
“You want me to go to your open house?” You ask him happily. Megumi blushes and nods.
“Only if you want to,” he quickly says.
“Of course I do, honey!” You pulled out a pen from your purse and quickly wrote your name. And then you wrote Toji’s. Megumi’s smile dropped and he gulped. You looked over at him. “What’s wrong? Do you not want your dad to come?”
“I…I do. It’s just…dad…doesn’t want to come.”
You raised a brow. “Oh?”
Megumi scratched his head. “He thinks they’re a waste of time. He only goes to conferences and stuff.”
You get a look of realization on your face. “Oh. Is that why I never hear anything about school?” Megumi nods. You become deep in thought and your brows start to furrow. “Hmph. He won’t think that for long, Megumi. I promise.” You hand the paper back to him and he puts it in his folder, just slightly anxious about what the future may hold. But, you were very excited too. You also hand him the bowl to finish and excitedly, he takes it.
Just before his last bite, there’s a slam on his window. You and Megumi look up at the giant hand belonging to Toji. You still looked irritated.
Megumi rolls down the window. “What do you want, old man?”
“Hey, I’m still in my 20s,” he answers.
“Barely!”
“What the hell are you two doing in here, huh?” He asks. He looks down at his son’s hands. He jerks his head to the side and stares at you incredulously. “So you got Chipotle for the both of you and didn’t want to bring me any?”
You gave him a hard blink, still annoyed by what Megumi just told you. “You don’t deserve a bowl.” You say, half jokingly.
“What did I do?” He asks. You don’t answer, instead you goad Megumi to finish it and exit the car. Toji watches his son eat the last bite and smile at him, rolling the window back up and opening the door. Megumi hands Toji the trash and walks inside with his stepmother leaving his butt hurt dad in the driveway.
-
It’s past 9 when you enter Megumi’s room to check on him. You knock a few times to make sure he hears it just in case he has any headphones in. He does and you hear some shuffling before he finally shouts, “Come in!”
You open the door to the dark room with only his bed being lit up by his night light which you have sworn to secrecy to never tell his friends that he still needs it. You smile at him snuggled up in his sheets. “Did I wake you?” You ask him, already knowing the answer. Megumi shakes his head.
“Okay. Good night then.” You tell him, blowing him a kiss.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” he tells you, ready to whip out his switch that was hiding under his pillow when the door closes. “Oh, wait, Y/N?”
You enter back into the doorway. “Yes?”
Megumi hesitates to ask you, but he gathers up his courage. “Is dad really going to come to the open house this time?” he asks.
He relaxes when you give him your sweet smile. “I promise he will,” you tell him.
With that Megumi nods and turns over leaving you to close his door and head to your own room, already knowing Toji’s going to have a time trying to wake him up tomorrow. He really thinks he’s slick pretending that he doesn’t play on his switch when he should be asleep, but you can always tell when he wakes up the next day, groggy as all hell, looking like he could drop any minute.
When you finally enter your room, your darling husband is there to await you. His large body is spread across the bed, waiting for you to get in with him. He grins at you with his hands behind his head shifting his lower body down. “Hey, beautiful,” he winks at you stupidly.
Whereas any other day you would fall for his charm, you were not amused by him. You ‘hmph’ and walk to the other side of the bed where you use all your strength to throw the rest of his big body ass on the opposite side and fall into the mattress. Toji, who was finally fed up with the animosity you’ve been having towards him all day, sits up and looks at you.
“Okay, what’s the problem?” he asks. “You’ve been mad at me since we got home. You even let Megumi eat the ice cream you said I could have.” He sounded so whiny, you couldn’t help but giggle at his ridiculousness. “So you’re just being a brat for no reason?”
“No,” you finally answer. You shift your body around to face him and he wraps his arm around your torso to kiss you. “I am upset with you.”
“But why? What did I do?” he asks.
You sigh and sit yourself up on your elbow. “Megumi told me something interesting.”
Toji began to think the worst. He thought the kid had let one of his deep dark secrets slip, like when you still lived on your own and Toji would hang onto his phone like an addict just waiting on a text from you. “Oh, yeah?” He played it off.
You nodded. “He told me you don’t like coming to fun events for school. Like field trips and parties. And open houses…” you trailed off.
Toji narrowed his eyes. “Open houses are not fun. Did he bother you about that shit today?”
You slap his chest. “He did not bother me, he asked me sweetly and I said yes.”
Toji scoffs. “Well, you have fun with that-“
“And you’re coming too.”
Toji’s jaw hangs open as he looks at you in disbelief. “What do you mean I’m coming too?”
“I signed your name up on his little RSVP paper, and-“
“Babe,” he says exasperated. You glare at him, not appreciating how much of a baby he was being. Honestly, if he was any more dramatic it would give you the ick for days. “Come on,”
“Wha-, you come on!” You say disappointed. “What is wrong with you? It’s just an open house.”
Not wanting to argue with you anymore, Toji sighs and gives up. He knows there’s nothing he could say to keep him from going, and he would hate to disappoint you any more than you already are. He kisses your forehead and holds your cheek. “Okay, baby. I’m sorry. I’ll go.”
You still weren’t satisfied. You knew he was only saying that because he didn’t want to upset you anymore, not because he had a change of heart. But, you got what you wanted, there’s no point in stretching things out. So you kissed his lips and smiled at him. “Thank you, baby.”
You were ready to sleep, but of course, he took that as an invitation. He smirked at you and leaned in for another kiss which you happily gave him. Then, he took more and more from you, squeezing you closer to him. He moved his hands down your body pushing your torso into his and sticking his tongue in your mouth. You squeal and pull away giggling at him. “Babe-,”
“Shh, come here.” He whispers, attacking your neck immediately afterwards. You stifle your moan by biting your lip. You knew you were getting worn out tonight. Good thing you don’t work tomorrow morning.
-
It’s the night of the open house and the school is bustling with parents, students, and staff alike. There’s a general welcome area with information about upcoming school events, and any questions that parents may have along with snack tables. You were walking right behind Megumi who was excited. Even though he was perfectly calm and walking leisurely, you could see from the small smile on his face that he was happy.
Toji could see it too. He was walking behind the both of you, not too far away. He’d never seen Megumi more relaxed or ready to leave the house before. It was weird.
Megumi led his parents to the 4th grade corridor where he pointed out various class projects that littered the walls in front of each classroom. “Mr. Geto’s class made this really cool honeycomb project. They were all given a hexagon and drew their own bees on it.” He explained to you. You oohed and aahed at everything he pointed out. He seemed to want to tell you about all the projects his friends made as well.
Before you all got to his class at the end of the hall, you looked around for your giant of a husband and found him practically dragging his feet towards you. You glared at him which made him roll his eyes and pick up the pace. Quickly you looked at Megumi sighing in relief that he didn’t notice.
“Oh, sweetie,” you say to him when you all reach Ms. Ieiri’s room. “Did you guys not have a class project? What about the metamorphosis thing?”
Megumi grins at you. “That’s on the wall inside. Our project was really cool and special. You’ll see.”
With that, you all walked inside and took your seats. Megumi sat you all around his desk, with him getting up to talk to his friends when they arrived too. Yuuji was the most excited to see him. “Megumi!” He shouted running over to him. Megumibarely had time to get up before he was practically tackled. “You’re here!”
The pink haired boy got off of him and smiled at you while holding his arms out. “Hi, Mrs. L/N.”
Miwa rears her head out of nowhere taking the hug you were going to give Yuuji. She sticks her tongue out at him. “It’s Mrs. Fushiguro now, dummy.”
“Don’t call him dummy!” Nobara, who also just walked in, scolds.
“You should hear how she talks to me on the bus,” Yuuji interjects. Megumi, quiet as ever, is just happy to be here.
So are you. The kids are hilarious and make you giggle. But you shouldn’t be getting entertained by a bunch of children, you should be speaking with your husband. You turn to talk to him, only to see him knee deep in his phone, leaning against the chair like no one’s business.
You scoff. “You could pretend to be interested,” you lean over and whisper to him.
“Hasn’t even started yet,” he responds, not taking his eyes off the screen. You roll yours. You guess he’s right, but it’s the principle of it all.
At 8:00 on the dot, Shoko claps her hands to get everyone’s attention. “Okay everyone, we’ll be starting now so please take your seats.” You give Toji a sharp glare. He glances up at you, rolls his eyes again, and puts his phone away.
Shoko starts off with a welcome and a thank you. From then she wastes no time eager to talk about the assignments and fun projects that the kids have done. She seems like she’s rushing, and you don’t really understand why until you remember the ‘special project.’
“The children cut out, pasted, and colored in the cycle of metamorphosis which they all absolutely killed,” she starts another round of applause which everyone joined in for. Everyone except Toji.
If he looked as though he didn’t want to be there, that would be correct. He did not want to be there at all. He was looking around lazily at all the projects and Megumi’s own caught his eye every time. It was cute…but that’s all it was to him.
He really didn’t need to be here. At all. But you felt as though he did. Why? Why couldn’t it have just been you? Megumi has amazing grades, outstanding behavior, and perfect attendance. He has good friends and doesn’t get bullied, what else is there to talk about? At least, that’s how he sees it.
He’s so busy sulking that he failed to see his wife giving him a death stare. You were over his piss poor attitude and was ready to stick your foot in his ass. When Toji finally looked towards the front of the class, he saw the steam leave your ears and nostrils and gulped. You turned around and whispered into Megumi’s ear. Then, without bringing too much attention to yourself, you hit Toji’s shoulder and walk out the classroom, with him following suit.
The both of you walked a good distance from the class into the hallways where it was mostly empty. You stop to look at him and he leans against a wall. “What’s going on?” You ask him.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean why have you been so…I don’t know…disconnected tonight?” You raise your arms in frustration. “What was the point of us coming here if you’re not going to pay any attention?”
He lifts himself off the wall. “You know, that is a good question.” You fold your arms. “What is the point of bringing me here? In fact, I’m still not sure what the point of being here is either.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m saying that I hate coming to these things because they never talk about anything important.” He finally says. “Just things that they do for fun in class. I don’t need to know about that.”
You shake your head at him. “Why are you so disinterested in Megumi’s schooling?”
“Now you’re putting words in my mouth.” He holds his finger up at you. He thought he was making himself clear, but he’d be damned if you were going to accuse him of being a dead beat. “I care about Megumi’s education, but this other shit, cute projects and festivals, those aren’t important.”
As you try to piece together your thoughts, he finalized his opinion. “Megumi is a good student. That’s all that matters.”
Finally, you let out a sigh. “You know what, you’re right,” you start, shocking your husband. “The stuff on the side isn’t important in the grand scheme of things. But…it is important to Megumi.”
Toji opens his mouth, but quickly realizes he doesn’t have a response. “Have you looked at him at all tonight?” You ask. “Have you ever seen him so energized? He’s happy.”
Have you ever wondered why he thinks you’re so boring?” Toji jerks his head back. Where did that come from? “It’s because you’re only into the boring shit. Grades and behavior marks are boring, babe. Drawing, arts and crafts, games, music, candy, the zoo; those are all fun. And Megumi loves that, so we have to love it too.”
“I-“
“He was so excited that you were coming tonight. They have something special going on that he really didn’t want to miss. Megumi wants you here, baby. And, I bet he’ll be an angel now.”
Toji looks at the ground and thinks about what you said. You were right, Megumi was very happy tonight. And he starts to realize something; he’s only ever seen Megumi’s homework and test grades. He hadn’t seen an arts and crafts project or a drawing he made since preschool where that was all they did. Megumi thinks that- no. He knows that his father doesn’t care about that. And that thought…hurts.
He didn’t care, but he’ll start now.
“You’re right,” he tells you, even though you definitely already know. “I guess…I never liked this kind of shit when I was a kid. I didn’t really have great friends and my family never cared either.” He looks up at you. “I tried really hard to make sure Megumi didn’t grow up like I did, I think I overlooked a few things.”
“But, you’re an amazing father, baby. Megumi loves you, even though you are boring,” you jest. Toji laughs warmly and approaches you. He kisses your lips and pulls you in for an embrace.
He loves you; so much. You’re so caring and mindful of his son. He knew you would be a great stepmother. He couldn’t wait to officially give you that title when you finally said your vows only last year.
“Let’s go back before we miss the surprise.”
You gasped when Shoko finally talked about the butterfly project. They were gorgeous with orange wings and yellow tips, native to the region. They were currently inside a blue tent with the keeper. Since Megumi had the most important job as the temperature keeper, a fact that got a pat and a head rub from his father, your family, along with the Itadori’s, got to go in first.
Megumi and Yuuji couldn’t contain their excitement for a second and had to be scolded to sit down by their parents. You sat next to Toji, a butterfly landing in your locs that were currently Toji’s favorite color, Cajun Spice. One lands on Megumi’s and Yuuji’s noses, making you squeal from how cute it was and leading you to pull out your phone to take a picture. Toji pulls out his as well, snapping one of you before the butterfly has a chance to fly away. Luckily, many of them had the same idea and your hair was covered in them. You were so beautiful, they could pass for actual hair accessories. Toji took a picture of you smiling.
You all laughed when they started landing on him, the entire tent cackling when he was covered with them. His miffed face added to the atmosphere, and you took as many pictures as you could.
When it was all said and done, you all began walking back to the car. You ran to the bathroom, telling the boys not to wait up. So, it was Toji’s and Megumi walking into the parking lot.
It was quiet for a second, Toji thinking about all the ways he could make it up to his son and looking at the upcoming events flier to see one that may interest him. Suddenly, he feels a smaller body on his legs and torso. It was Megumi giving him a hug.
“Thanks for coming, dad,” he says quickly, the sound almost completely muffled by Toji’s shirt. He gets off of him just as quickly, thankful that it was too dark to see his red face. Toji thought the same.
“You’re welcome.” He says back, the both of them hopping into the car and staying quiet pretending the other doesn’t exist.
After a few minutes of silence, Megumi speaks up. “Can this please not be the only time ?” He asks his father.
Toji smiles to himself. “I promise it won’t.” With that, you finally enter the car, the 3 of you driving off happy as can be.
ending a/n: I hope you all enjoyed that! I really wanted to make it clear that Toji isn't a bad father, he does care and he cares in his own way that isn't detrimental to Megumi's being either. And, I wanted to give insight to what yours and Megumi's relationship looks like and how Toji feels about it. The next story should not take as long to come out I promise. Y'all don't understand this one was MONTHS in the making I started this series in March LMAOO! Also, I've went ahead and made a form to sign up for the taglist. It'll be open probably indefinitely as I don't see myself officially stopping the series anytime soon. If there's ever a hiatus, it'll be because I need to think of more ideas.

JJ Maybank Series: Teenage Love Triangle Masterlist
Tumblr media
Genre: Angst Warnings: None Words: 1700
JJ makes the biggest mistake of his life, and you have the rest of your life to pay for it.
Tumblr media
Vintage tee, brand new phone High heels on cobblestones When you are young, they assume you know nothing Sequined smile, black lipstick Sensual politics When you are young, they assume you know nothing
Tumblr media
For much of your life, it had been ingrained that hate was a strong word. It would be best practice to refrain from carelessly applying it to your vocabulary.
But from a young age you were confronted with life lessons prompting you to learn just how much more weight the word love carried. And without careful consideration, the overuse of the word could wear out its substance. Throwing around the word could do more damage than good.
Your parents were never the role model for what love was supposed to be - they were everything that it shouldn’t be.
You were determined to be careful of who you chose to love, and to do so with caution. And most importantly, don’t trust boys who say they love you.
But, as much as your life was predetermined the same way everybody else’s was. You were young and inexperienced. The road ahead longer than what was behind you.
An essential part of an individual’s young life is ignorance, and despite the wisdom of those older, the best way to learn a lesson is through exposure.
Your biggest life lesson?
JJ.
Your history dated back in elementary school but your first actual interaction did not occur until freshman year in highschool. You spent your childhood shying away from the crowd, and JJ had his friends. He always had friends.
But the world was your oyster, and in freshman year, your life changed when JJ sat beside you one lunch time - which continued on for the next few years. JJ with his big toothy grin, sharp comebacks and boyish appearance. Who could not fall in love with his charming personality?
Eventually you became that duo and the school was well aware of your relationship. There no longer was a Y/n and no longer a JJ. It became Y/n and JJ.
Where’s Y/n? Probably with JJ.
I’m gonna invite JJ to the party. Y/n will probably come too.
It began romantically - but messy - just as every high school love story goes. When your inexperiences catch up to you, and you both come to an understanding that being in a relationship wasn’t just holding hands and being seen around each other or calling each other cute names.
A relationship was a bond, requiring commitment and change. There was now a link between two individuals and through life's greatest challenges, you were to stand strong together.
But JJ was young, and she was always there.
Tumblr media
But I knew you Dancin' in your Levi's Drunk under a streetlight, I I knew you Hand under my sweatshirt Baby, kiss it better, I
Tumblr media
You and JJ came up against many trials that were critical to the development of both your individual selves but also your relationship. Your love and fondness of each other blossomed like an elegant rose, envied by others for its beauty and passion. A love overflowing with romance and childish dreams.
Your time was well spent in each others company and you shared many firsts. Like the much anticipated first kiss, first dance, first party, first drink. The firsts for everything was with JJ. And throughout it all he was caring and understanding.
JJ showed you what love was and could be. He was the role model that you needed growing up to show you how to be loved.
But JJ was also surrounded by all his friends. Everybody that he loved.
Tumblr media
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan Under someone's bed You put me on and said I was your favorite
Tumblr media
When family ties loosened and friendships failed. JJ became the one constant in your life, readily available whenever you needed him.
When you felt unsafe in your own home, you found solace in JJ. He provided you a home in his heart, the same as you providing him a place in your heart. Nobody could understand the pain you were going through the way JJ did. In a way, you both lived similar lives - having parents who were never really there.
When you felt like you were another hole in the wall, ignored but a silent burden, JJ patched you up and made you feel beautiful again.
He would always, without ever a single doubt, pick you,
That’s what you thought, anyway.
Tumblr media
A friend to all is a friend to none Chase two girls, lose the one When you are young, they assume you know nothing
Tumblr media
Your first warning from the very beginning should have been his kindness.
JJ was the life of the party and was constantly surrounded by people. But your entire relationship he showed up, and his loyalty never once wavered.
But you were seventeen, and everybody tells you that you’re too young and naive. Too immature. Life throws you obstacles so that you can learn from them.
First loves never last, but their impact will remain throughout the rest of your life.
She was always there too. Sharing laughter, attending the parties, going to the school dances, riding out the waves of life the same as you and JJ. And JJ was kind to everyone, so JJ was kind to her.
Tumblr media
But I knew you, Playing hide and seek and Giving me your weekends, I I knew you Your heartbeat on the High Line Once in twenty lifetimes, I
Tumblr media
Roses are beautiful, they signify love and passion. But with everything beautiful, a dark side is concealed until eventually something forces it to come out of hiding.
The signs became clearer and the thorns became sharper.
She was only supposed to be a friend - that’s what he assured you - and you were supposed to understand. But she became a more frequent character in your life.
You were the old cardigan again, shoved under the bed, no longer remembered. She was new, the latest style and perfect proportions. Only you could dream to be like her.
All it took was one summer away from Kildare, away from JJ, to change everything.
Tumblr media
To kiss in cars and downtown bars Was all we needed You drew stars around my scars But now I'm bleedin'
Tumblr media
You reminisce on the days being with JJ. How love made you feel. How JJ himself made you feel.
Running around town, not giving a care in the world. It was you and him, against everybody else.
Trying out all the new cafes, ordering new items that you both had never tried before, and JJ offering you his drink if you didn't like your choice.
Competing on regular bowling dates, with JJ never giving you the chance to beat him (that's just his nature, JJ always had to win). But making it up to you by buying whatever you wanted at the ice cream store.
Reading your favorite book and JJ taking the time out of his day to listen to your review, providing you with just the right amount of responses so that you knew he was really listening.
Watching tv shows together, laughing at the corny jokes, gagging at the love scenes. But also seeing your love portrayed in the films you watched.
If he had just been with you, maybe she would have never had the chance.
When it returns to your mind, the wounds that never healed are reopened and you are reminded of your loss. You lost your love, guardian and believer.
The one who could console you in your darkest days.
JJ had you believe that no other man, besides your father, could harm you. But they were lies, because the very boy that those words came out from, was the very same boy that hurt you. The wounds much more painful and deeper than your fathers. Because at least you grew up not knowing any better, that was your father and it was expected.
But JJ? He tricked you. He made you believe that he would always protect you.
Tumblr media
'Cause I knew you Steppin' on the last train Marked me like a bloodstain, I I knew you
Tumblr media
JJ’s disloyalty was the cause of the end of your relationship, but more than that, his treatment towards you as the relationship began to crash down. He chose that road, filled with lies, betrayal and dishonesty. He chose a life that he could not come back from when he willingly put her above you.
JJ proved to you that he was just a boy and you had more self-respect than to stay with a boy. You learnt first hand from your own mother what staying could do.
Tumblr media
Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I I knew you
Tumblr media
You loved JJ, and love was enough for you to allow JJ into your heart in the first place. Although it did take some time. But you opened up to him. Nevertheless, deep down, you were aware of the dangerous path you had chosen for yourself.
You knew the risks of getting involved with a boy, and that first relationships usually never last. But despite that, you gave him a chance.
JJ was young and he was a boy still navigating life blindly. He was disappointed in himself, and ashamed of what he had done.
The moment he found out that you knew what happened, he was quick to apologise, and begged you to forgive him.
You could see it in his eyes, the regret and shame. You knew this would have a lasting impact on him. But his mistakes were irreversible.
Tumblr media
Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing
Tumblr media
The betrayal stained you, like red wine on a white dress.
You reminded yourself that life was filled with lessons, and this was just a part of that, but the hurt remained a constant in your life.
JJ promised you many things, but he had other plans.
You were used to people entering and leaving your life, but this hurt the most.
Tumblr media
But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs The smell of smoke would hang around this long 'Cause I knew everything when I was young I knew I'd curse you for the longest time Chasin' shadows in the grocery line I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired And you'd be standin' in my front porch light And I knew you'd come back to me You'd come back to me And you'd com*e back to me And you'd come back
Tumblr media
Despite the break up, JJ was still there, haunting you at every corner of your life.
You explored the town together and now every lamp post and every ice cream store were just reminders of his betrayal. Of everything that you lost. Every book you read had never felt the same again.
You knew that you had to endure this pain endlessly, and your love for JJ, in spite of the circumstances, would never waver.
But you were angry. Angry and shameful.
Angry at JJ for what he did, lying to you and proposing empty promises.
You felt shameful, that you allowed a boy to get so close to you and grant him the power to hurt you tremendously. Because all along you knew things could never stay blissful, but you still allowed him access to your heart and rip it apart. Leaving you with nothing but broken promises, tears of blood and a wilted rose.
But he came back, knocking on your door, begging to be let in again and show you that love did exist in the midst of his infidelity.
But how could you let him in again?

Why is it so fucking funny that Eddie scares Steve a lot on purpose and Steve scares Gareth just accidentally. Because now I’m imagining Eddie being frustrated because he can never scare Gareth and Steve does it without trying
Gareth’s parents are a stereotype of good parents from a small town. It’s as if you put all the good qualities of sitcom parents into a blender and poured them into two people.
They are supportive and kind. Gareth’s dad coached his little league baseball team (Steve was on this team too, btw) and never yelled at a kid once even when one kid ran the bases in the wrong direction. His mom was the Classroom Mother every year throughout elementary school. Hell, Gareth’s mother was the second adult that Eddie came out to.
Gareth’s parents are also hardcore horror fans.
Gareth has been going to haunted houses and cornfield mazes since he was a toddler, he grew up watching every horror movie they could get on tape, and Eddie could not scare him. It drove him crazy.
And it’s not that Eddie can’t make Gareth flinch. He can! If he raises his voice in the cafeteria or climbed on the table, if he sneered in the face of a bully and the bully hits back, if Eddie tsked at his D&D character’s next move – Gareth flinched.
But if Eddie jumped out to scare him? Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
It was infuriating. Even more so because Steve could jump scare him in his sleep.
It’s a case of bad luck, bad timing, or a terrible sleep schedule because Gareth is always the one awake when Harrington starts being weird on tour.
He woke up once and Steve was just staring at him with this blank empty look on his face. Gareth had the top bunk and slept with his back to the wall. Steve’s face was mere inches away from his when Gareth opened his eyes. He startled back so fast that his head hit the side of the bus hard enough to wake Jeff up.
He went to the bathroom once in the middle of the night and when he opened the door, Steve was standing right there. He wasn’t even sleepwalking this time, just impatient about needing to piss.
Gareth couldn’t sleep one night when he heard Steve get out of bed. All he did was stand in the middle of the little sitting area of the bus, muttering something to himself. It didn’t seem like Eddie was going to wake up any time soon, so Gareth got out of bed and went to get him.
He grabbed Steve’s shoulder to put him back in bed when Steve swung at him, microphone stand in hand. Gareth stumbled back so fast, he tripped over his feet. He watched Steve with an eerily blank face raise the mic stand over his head, but never made contact when he swung down because there was a hand there suddenly.
Eddie’s hand was tight around the stand when Steve tried to pull it back and his eyes were uncharacteristically serious, but his tone was light, “Stevie, baby. It’s me. It’s Eddie. Where are you at in that big head of yours because we’re not there. The gate is closed. You’re on tour with me and Gareth. You’re safe. Everybody is safe.”
Once Gareth woke up, saw that Steve wasn’t with Eddie in the bunk below him and found him standing at the bus’ door. The bus that was currently going sixty miles per hour down the interstate. Gareth’s heart doesn’t stop pounding in his chest for hours after he convinced Steve to get back in bed.

M/n l/n. The schools popular guy, the athlete type, everybody loved him except for Jung Wooyoung, the student council president. The two had been going at it since elementary school. No one knew why you two hated each other so much, it was just common knowledge. Some people say you two are polar opposites, some people think it’s a fight over grades, or maybe teacher’s favorite. Others, say you two like each other, but that’s bullshit….. “Cmon m/n, just do it. I’m sure you’ll get an answer if you charm him.” Your friend Yunho, pushed. He wanted you to find out if Wooyoung really did like you. Absolutely ludicrous. “Shut up, he’ll hear you.” You groaned, nudging yunho as you passed the student council office. “Just go.” Yunho cackled, pushing you into the door. Oh fuck. “Excuse me?” Wooyoungs sharp voice rang out, his fox eyes scanning your form. “U-uhm, Woo! I wanted to ask you something.” You asked in your best flirty tone. “M/n, I really don’t have time for you.” He said, almost like your name in his mouth tasted bad. “Oh cmon, just listen.” You grinned, sitting on the edge of his desk. He looked up at you through his glasses, raising an eyebrow. “You like me don’t you.” M/n sneered, leaning down to look in Wooyoung’s eyes. “Come here.” Wooyoung hummed, motioning for you to come stand in front of him. You were so ready for his answer….excited almost? Wooyoung smiled at you, his eyes sweet and playful. “M/n you…….really thought I would fall into your arms?” Wooyoung cackled, his laugh was piercing and cruel. “Well I-“ you started, but got cut off. “It’s ok. I see the way you look at me. Sit.” Wooyoung demand, pushing your shoulders down so you fell to your knees. “Since you like me so much, why don’t you do what you want. I’m right here.” He said, grinning as he sat on his office chair. “Wooyoung, I promise, I didn’t mean it like this.” You persisted, massaging your knee slowly. “Just suck me off m/n. You want it. I’m frustrated.” Wooyoung shrugged, leaning back farther. You looked at him in shock and disbelief, was this really Wooyoung talking. The sweet, innocent, and kind student pres. was pushing you onto your knees and demanding you give him a blowjob. It was hot. “Woo-” You muttered, but he placed his hand on his zipper. “Good boy, I knew you liked me.” He sneered, his voice dripping with hate. You slipped his pants down and his cock immediately hit your cheek. He didn’t wear any underwear to school? You let it slip your mind, carefully grabbing onto his erect penis and bring the tip to your lips. “I don’t have all day.” Wooyoung mumbled, placing his hand on your head. This caused you to rush a little bit, taking him into your mouth and swirling your tongue around his agitated tip. You took him deeper and deeper, inch by inch, using your hands on what you couldn’t reach. Slurping noises rang out around the room. “You’re not very good at this.” Wooyoung fake yawned, pushing you all the way down on his cock and holding you there. You gagged and gasped as he laughed. Tears brimmed at your eyes, threatening to fall. He then pulled you up by your hair and made eye contact with you. “Now make me cum, or everyone will know about how you like me soooo much.” Wooyoung laughed, and pushed you down back onto his cock.
“have you seen m/n?” Yunho hummed, asking one of his soccer teammates. He hasn’t seen m/n since he pushed him into Wooyoung’s office. “He stayed overnight to study with Wooyoung. Maybe Wooyoung does like m/n?”

Abbott Elementary - The Savior of Sitcoms
Tumblr media
When Abbott Elementary aired midseason in December of 2021, I don’t think any of us were ready. I had first heard about the show from Quinta Brunson’s TikTok. I’ve been following her since she worked for Buzzfeed, having made very funny and true digital shorts about what it’s like to be a woman, specifically a short woman. So, from time to time I liked to check in on her and see what she was up to. She was announcing her book, She Memes Well, and she briefly mentioned she was working on a pilot.
Quinta is a triple threat to the world of Abbott - she’s the head writer, executive producer, and lead actress. Her being a woman and doing all of these things is already incredible, but seeing a woman of color shine like this is truly inspirational, and quite honestly...it’s about damn time. Quinta was awarded the very well deserved Emmy for OUTSTANDING COMEDY WRITER. A young (she’s 32, that’s young) woman of color won an award for comedy writing. I cried tears of joy during her acceptance speech. As a woman, we’re basically told our whole lives that female comedians aren’t funny, so this was major for a multitude of reasons.
The cast of Abbott is comprised with some familiar face: Lisa Ann Walter, who many folks of my generation know as Chessy from The Parent Trap, Tyler James Williams of Everybody Hates Chris fame, Sheryl Lee Ralph, who many of us remember as Dee Mitchell from Moesha, and William Sanford Davis who is no stranger to the sitcom world. We also have Janelle James, a comedian who I had honestly never heard of, but is truly hilarious, and Chris Perfetti, another new face to me, but has quickly stolen my heart as his character Jacob.
The first season starts off during the spring semester of the school year. Janine, played by Quinta, is a semi-new teacher who wants to be the absolute best for her students. She’s young, ambitious, high-spirited, and is often annoying her colleagues.
Tumblr media
Seasoned professional Barbara Howard, who happened to be Janine’s teacher back in the day, is probably the person annoyed by Janine the most. But only because Janine’s high energy and new teaching styles don’t jive with what Barbara’s used to. Throughout the season, Barbara ends up leaning on Janine a bit more, and starts to see her value as a teacher. Especially when it comes to using new technology that Barbara isn’t exactly savvy with.
Tumblr media
Jacob is a corny, happy-go-lucky social studies teacher. He’s the closest with Janine. Jacob is the quintessential cis-white guy who is often a little too “woke” for his own good. But he means well, and even though his students refer to him as “Mr. C.” because he’s so corny, they love him as their teacher. He also has a very loving relationship with his boyfriend, which I enjoyed seeing represented.
Tumblr media
Melissa is a fast fan favorite. Having grown up in Jersey, she brings a very real character to the table. She’s a math teacher, and a damn good one at that. Another seasoned professional, who is close with Barbara, but also plays by a lot of her own rules. If something needs to get done, she knows someone who knows someone who knows someone, but you didn’t hear it from her.
Tumblr media
Gregory is new to the elementary school. He starts off as a substitute teacher. He was originally supposed to be the principal of Abbott, he was offered the job after going to school for it! But alas, the job was given to someone else - Ava Coleman. Ava has literally no teaching background of any kind. So how did she get the job?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ava is often flirting with Gregory, making some very crude remarks. She uses the budget inappropriately for her own vanity, and only sometimes actually does her job. She and Janine tend to have many disagreements, but Janine is a passive person, so she’s usually coming up with some over the top idea to make a change instead of just simply discussing the issue with Ava. Not that Ava ever really listens, so it almost forces Janine to do something crazy.
Tumblr media
And Mr. Johnson, our beloved custodian, is always there with a smart remark, often that extra comic relief we need to break the tension during some of the more serious scenes.
Tumblr media
The show is a mockumentary style sitcom, similar to The Office, or Parks and Rec. The interviews the characters give aren’t as formal as they were on The Office. Most of the time when they’re talking directly to the camera, they’re in the hallway between classes. This style can be hard to pull off, especially when so many other sitcoms have done it, like Modern Family, for example. But Abbott does it flawlessly.
Tumblr media
Like many of my favorite shows, we have a slow burn occurring between two main characters: Gregory and Janine. Gregory makes it pretty obvious, to the cameras, that he likes Janine right away.
Tumblr media
In fact, part of the reason he takes the open position to become a full-time teacher and not a substitute, by the end of the school year is so he can still be around Janine. Nothing can be too easy, though. We learn early on that Janine has a long-time boyfriend, Tariq. Tariq is basically a deadbeat, going from one dead-end job to the next, leaving Janine to constantly pick up the slack. But they’ve been together for well over ten years, so she’s not exactly looking to start anew.
However, by the end of the first season, Janine does end things with Tariq. And it’s not because she’s in love with Gregory. As much as we want them to be Jim and Pam, they’re not. Janine breaks up with Tariq because she realizes she’s simply outgrown him, and it’s not healthy for either of them to stay in their relationship. It’s not easy for her to come to terms with this, we see that at the beginning of season two as she pretends to be fine with the breakup. Throughout the first season, Janine evolves quite a bit. She’s much more confident as a teacher going into the fall semester. She’s more sure of herself and her capabilities.
Tumblr media
The show is heartwarming at its core. Yes, it’s extremely laugh out loud funny. (Which is a big deal because a show rarely makes me audibly laugh, so the fact that I’ve laughed so hard I’ve nearly cried?? Yeah, this is a well written show.) All of the main characters go through a sort of “after school special” moment that helps them grow and become better. I think my favorite person’s journey is Gregory’s. He was obviously bitter about not getting the principal position. He’s also just a very odd duck. He likes order and rigidity. He only eats plain, boiled chicken between two slices of white bread. (He doesn’t like when different foods mix together. When he admitted he didn’t like pizza, it was a whole thing. Jacob was the most offended, especially when Gregory also told them he didn’t pie.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gregory doesn’t get goofy or silly with his students, he prefers order. But he slowly starts to realize that if he’s going to actually have a good command over his classroom, then he’ll need to let loose a little.
Tumblr media
We’re three episodes in to the second season, and it’s already holding up to the groundbreaking first. This isn’t always easy to do. Sometimes when a show has such an incredibly good first season, the second season can feel lackluster. But not Abbott Elementary. Less than a minute into the first episode, I was already laughing hysterically. Janine was discussing her breakup, so we cut to a scene showing Tariq packing up his friend’s car, and them both driving away. Tariq had a shining smile on his face as he danced in the passenger seat while ‘Snap Yo Fingers” by Lil Jon blasted through the speakers.
The main cast are back to their old antics: finding ways to keep the students interested, doing their best to keep the school from crumbling, and just getting through each day one step at a time. The teachers lean on one another for so many things, and I don’t think that’s something we’ve seen in a show with a school setting before. Most sitcoms that take place in school are usually about the students, not the teachers. And if it is about the teachers, it’s usually very serious. We’re getting a real and unique perspective about what teachers have to deal with at a semi-underprivileged school. Second and third grade classes get lumped together, the textbooks are nowhere near new, and the grant money Janine won for new supplies had to go towards getting rid of a rat infestation in the cafeteria.
Not that it’s all about Janine and Gregory and their slow burn, but if we’ve learned anything from watching Jim and Pam (The Office), or Jake and Amy (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), or Ben and Lesley (Parks and Rec), or even Jonah and Amy (Superstore), these two will not be confessing feelings any time soon. And if they do, they won’t be getting together as an official couple until at least the end of the third season, as many of the couples listed previously did. I’m really excited to see how it all plays out. I know it’s going to be good.
Tumblr media
In my opinion, we haven’t had a truly good sitcom in quite some time. Many of our favorites have long since ended. Sometimes when I see the current ones, the ones that are on cable networks like ABC, CBS, and NBC, I find myself asking, “How is this still on the air?”. One of the last good ones standing, again in my opinion, was Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which ended in 2021 after eight seasons. Modern Family ended in 2020, but despite the few really funny clips I’ve seen from that show, I never got into it to watch regularly. Just because a family is blended and a little unconventional, doesn’t mean it’s modern. Who was it modern to? The upper-middle class? The same goes for Black-ish, which ended last spring. That was another show I tried to get into, but just couldn’t. To me, it was just another show about an upper-class family. Yes, the cast was diverse and had good representation, but not everyone lives like that family did. Other honorable mentions are: The Good Place (2016-2020), Schitt’s Creek (2015-2020), and Superstore (2015-2021). Many of these beloved shows have all ended within the last three years. And what are we left with? The Goldbergs? Young Sheldon? Grown-ish? Hard pass. If you like those shows, no shade, they’re just not my cup of tea.
Tumblr media
And even though we have shows on paid streaming services like Ted Lasso (a must watch if you’re able), that’s not a program that’s easily accessible to everyone. I’m hoping Abbott sparks inspiration for more warm-hearted comedies. It’s a show that’s fun for adults, but it’s something you can still watch as a family if you so choose. Having someone like Quinta as a writer is truly the key to its success. The show is funny, relatable, sometimes gut-wrenching, and something I look forward to watching every week.

NOTICE ME
Tumblr media
Pairing: Haechan x fem!reader
Genre: Slowburn, Angst, Haechan has a girlfriend.
Warnings: Contains smut, Sensitive language
Synopsis: Since Haechan has a girlfriend, you can’t just steal him from his girlfriend that easily. So you keep on doing things that interest him. In short, you’re obsessed with him.
You are in your senior year, which means you’re going to graduate soon. However, you have one last goal; Making Haechan Lee be your Boyfriend before the School Year ends. On the other hand, Haechan has a girlfriend. In fact she’s your academic rival. She has been your rival ever since Elementary school. Additionally, She has never won in any contest you both entered. It’s always you who gets the trophy home. Although, She has defeated you in some way. The boy you have been liking since you’re 11 years old is her boyfriend. Well I guess we could call that equal. Nevertheless, It will not stop you from doing your objective.
You would often see how Haechan and his girlfriend flirt in school, Making you feel disgusted and jealous. Even though a lot of people admire you because of your beautiful face, great mind. There’s no way you will like any of them because they’re not Haechan. Besides, they're what you call “dumb” so you will think that they’re going to use you because you’re smart. Therefore everyday you would do absurd things such as; Insulting people when Haechan is around. He doesn’t really care what happens around him because he’s with his girlfriend all the time so the focus is on her.
There are two weeks left before graduation and you have to think of a faster plan to steal Haechan from his girlfriend. Your friends are telling you that this is a bad idea and you shouldn’t do things just because you didn’t get what you wanted. Well this is you, you have everything but him. Until a rumor has been spreading all around the university, That Haechan is only with his girlfriend because the girl’s parents forced him to date their daughter because Haechan’s family is poor and working for the girl’s parents. Oh you do love gossip. So you went to the library to dig up information about the girl’s family. Turns out the girl’s family is crazy rich. Big ass mansion with 10 luxury cars. However their richness isn’t even close to yours. Your family is the biggest donor for your university, but they raised you to be Polite and shouldn’t look down on people just because of their social status. Well you’re nothing like what they raised you to be. Instead you became the smart rebellious girl everybody knows. Since you’re powerful you discovered that the rumor that has been going on is true. However, Haechan doesn’t look like he looks forced. He’s good at hiding, maybe because he’s in a drama club that you joined just to see him everyday.
Going back to your plan, All of the things you planned didn’t work out. Including sabotaging the graduation ball that Haechan and his girlfriend won as Prom King and Queen. You have no other choice but to expose his girlfriend anonymously. You don’t want to ruin your reputation and waste the chance of being the Valedictorian so you’re going anonymous.
After getting information about the girl’s family, you decided to go to class now. Once you entered the room. There it is, Haechan and his girlfriend making out infront of you. Also the girl is sitting on the table of Haechan’s seat. Little did they know… before everyone arrived you broke the armchair where Haechan’s usually sits and used glue to put it back again which will never stick that long. While they’re making out you notice his girlfriend keeps moving which means she’s uncomfortable because you can see that the table is cracking and will break eventually.
*THUD*
Haechan’s girlfriend fell causing her to break her waist. You showed a little grin and saw that Haechan is scared because his girlfriend can’t stand up.
“Next time don’t make out in class” You said, causing everyone to look at you. Someone even mouthed “Thank you” because they’re making everyone uncomfortable.
Not long enough an ambulance came to take his girlfriend to the emergency room. Haechan didn’t go with her since the school is very strict nowadays and you have to complete your attendance before the graduation. It looks like someone won’t be able to graduate.
Finally all classes have ended and you get to go home. You went up to your locker to leave things, While putting your books back, the door closed. seeing Haechan’s hand on your locker door.
“Oh hello Haechan, What can I do for you?” Giving him a sarcastic tone.
“I know you’re behind all of this y/n” Hearing what he said, you became blank as space. How does he know that you’re behind all of these?
“I don't know what you’re talking about” You said while putting your books back again. But he closed your locker again.
“You may be smart but you’re not going to act dumb around me” Damn, He may be dumb at academics, but not when it comes to this. We’d really make a good couple.
“We’re done with this conversation” I said, locking my locker and leaving the university.
You quickly went inside the car and drove away, But this time you’re not headed home. You’re headed to your secret penthouse that your parents didn’t know.
When you arrived at your penthouse, you took a hot shower to calm your mind and finished all your requirements. You got busy and didn’t have time to cook dinner so you went ahead and ordered for delivery. While waiting for your food to arrive you suddenly got a message.
(My) Haechan sent you a message
What does he want now? Yet you still checked what the said
“Call me right now”
For one thing, you don't like being dominated. You’re always the dominating one. But you’ll be that submissive little brat for Haechan and will do what he says. So you called him
“I'm here outside your penthouse” He better not be kidding with you. Not even your friends know about your penthouse.
“No you’re not”
“Aren’t you y/n y/sn who ordered these chicken tenders?”
“Fuck, yes that’s me just give me a minute” Screams are filling up the room as you panic every second.
10 minutes later you finally calmed down, and went to open the door.
“That was not a minute” He complained
“Come in”
“You got a nice penthouse huh?”
“Shut up, how did you know that I own this?”
“Your penthouse is next to mine, the black one.”
So that good ass looking penthouse was his!? I thought he’s poor?
“Aren’t you poor and your parents are working for your girlfriend's parents?” I asked without hesitation
“Yeah I am, but my Grandfather used to own that penthouse, my name is under his will” So he’s rich but his family is poor?
“If you’re not poor, why did you agree on that relationship thing?”
“Hold on, How did you prove that the rumor is true?”
“I'm good at this, now answer”
“I'm doing this for my parents,  they owe my girlfriends parents a lot of money”
“Why don’t you pay their debt?”
“They specifically said they don't need the money. Instead they wanted me to date their daughter”
“But why are you working as a delivery man?”
“Oh I’m not, I just happened to see your food in front of the door. You probably didn't notice”
“Well then, You can go now I need to be alone”
As soon as Haechan left, you went to your room with your food and ate while finishing the remaining tasks.
While doing your tasks you can’t help but fantasize about him. especially the interaction you just had. however fantasizing about him never distracts you. so you finished all in no time and went to bed.
A WEEK LATER
You found out that Haechan’s girlfriend will not be able to graduate because of the accident. That’s what happens to girls who can’t keep their hands off their boyfriend. You pretended to feel bad even though you’re the reason why she cannot graduate. Now that she’s not around, It’s the perfect time to steal her boyfriend
You were about to go to class when someone suddenly pulled you to the storage room.
“What the fuck” You were disgusted, wondering why would someone pull you here
“I pulled you here so nobody could see us” Haechan replied. For what reason? his girlfriend is not even here.
“How is your girlfriend?”
“We broke up” He said. You’re not surprised, you’ve been waiting for this.
“Why? what happened?” You asked
“I don't love her, I never loved her. So I took the chance to break up with her”
“And why are you telling me this?”
“I know you like me y/n with those actions you’ve been doing just to get noticed by me” Looks like he does notice it
“Okay so what? what do you want me to do?”
“Im single now, And I also like you I just don’t have a plan to tell you”
“Yeah it’s not convincing me much”
“Maybe this will”
After he said those words, he pulled you in for a kiss. Well who even are you to refuse, so you kissed him back. Making out with him feels like a dream, you were both thirsty for each other. For Haechan, Making out isn’t enough for him so he started touching you until it reached your short skirt. Revealing your wet panties.
“Already wet?”
“I’m always wet for you, Haechan”
He began touching your panties, making you whimper. You’ve never had sex before, therefore you’re sensitive. Looks like your new boyfriend doesn’t care. He loves hearing your sweet little sounds so he went in your panties, drawing circles on your clit. You’ve never felt so good before, You started to touch his pants feeling his crotch. Haechan unbuckled his pants with one hand. It turned you on, you helped him undress himself and when you took off his boxers his dick was hard. And very big.
“You looked surprised there”
“I-i didn’t k-know you w-were this b-big Mmm- Ahh” Moans escaping your mouth as he plays with your pussy
“Suck it”
You did what he said, you sucked his dick, bobbling your head as he moans out of lust
That means you’re doing a great job. You jerked him off while he’s playing with your clit. Which makes you both moan together. Luckily the storage room was soundproof so nobody could hear what you were doing.
“Im gonna cum”
“Cum, I'm gonna swallow it”
“Oh fuck you always know how to turn me on”
Loud noises filled the room, you both reached your climax and decided to not attend the classes for the day. Instead we went to my penthouse to spend the day. Who would’ve thought that the boy you’ve been liking since you were a kid is your boyfriend now? Graduating as Valedictorian with the love of your life. You’ve reached your last goal. Make Haechan Lee your boyfriend.
TIME SKIP
Today is the day before your graduation. Everybody knows that you and Haechan are now officially together. Everybody expects it, people are telling you they know that you are going to end up together. Also, He introduced you to his parents. His parents are so welcoming, and caring. Now you know where Haechan got it from. Likewise, you also introduced him to your parents and they absolutely loved him. Not because he’s your first boyfriend, it’s because they know already that he will take care of you. But you know your father, Haechan and him talked separately because you know.
“Are you ready to graduate as Valedictorian, My love?” Your boyfriend asked you with a big smile on his face indicating that he’s happy for you.
“I was born ready, Now will you help me practice my speech?”
“I’d be happy to” He said patting the seat beside him
This whole day was just you practicing your Valedictorian speech, giving thanks to all the people who have helped you to be this successful. After that Haechan took you shopping as a graduation gift. And you also gave him a graduation gift, Aside from sex you both went on a romantic date as your gift for him.
GRADUATION DAY
You are now getting ready in line, your boyfriend is just behind you because you guys are walking in alphabetic order. Finally you heard your name and you went up on stage. Receiving a lot of medals. So many achievements, One of them is being Haechan’s Girlfriend. Looks like doing things that may look obsessed to other people's eyes works after all.

Dreaming of something more
it’s career day in tara’s classroom. somebody has to show up.
—————————————————————————-
Sam found the permission slip in Tara’s folder long before it could get into the hands of their mother. It was stuck haphazardly out of her math folder, between the fives and sevens multiplication tables. Typical Tara. She wasn’t that organized for a seven-year-old, but then again, who was at that age?
She kept that permission slip in her pocket for the rest of the night, only risking taking it out once she was in bed. There wasn’t much privacy for Sam, even though her parents were always absent. Sam always had her little sister hanging off of her in some way. Besides, she had a carefully crafted bedtime routine for Tara. A busy little sister meant a little sister out of trouble and away from the hands of their parents.
Sighing, she opened the paper, trying to keep the rustling minimal. Tara was always a light sleeper, and their walls were thin. Unfurling the article, she moved it under her bedside lamp, reading the headline carefully.
WOODSBORO ELEMENTARY CAREER DAY
“Shit,” she swore softly.
Career day. She forgot that happened in second grade. Sam had gotten her best friend Piper’s dad to show up for her, and it all worked out alright. She didn’t have any inclination to become a plumber, though.
Deep down, she knows that this day mattered to Tara. Even if Tara didn’t bring the paper out and stick it to the fridge like she usually did with her work, Sam knew. She also knows that Tara still believes in magic, that moms can be good, and dads can stay around.
So that was settled. Sam wasn’t going to let her little sister see the world for what it could be; she was still going to make it seem like it was a blessing to wake up every day.
Gently laying the flier on the table, she laid back, her hands underneath her head. She had two days to make all the pieces fall into place.
Career day. What a stupid event.
——
Besides the last time she skipped school, Sam doesn’t remember ever being so nervous in her life. She had only cut one day this year, and that was when Tara had that fever that lasted all day. Other than that, she’s been squeaky clean.
Until today.
Sam tugged at her collar, trying to steady her nerves. She was in line with many parents, all wearing visitor badges. She had noticed the minute she walked into the front office that she was about twenty years younger and definitely sweatier than the grown-ups surrounding her. It’s not her fault. The middle school was a two-mile trek, and it was early fall.
Looking around, she felt dumber by the minute in her nicest dress. She spotted Mr. Freeman in his accountant suit and Mrs. Meeks-Martin in her realtor clothing. She waved nervously at Sheriff Hicks, who gave her an unimpressed look at her apparent hooky skills. Deep down, Sam knows she won’t get reported. Everybody in town knows about the Carpenter parents.
After what seemed like an eternity, the parents were led to the kids' classroom by a hallway monitor. Sam waited for all the parents to file out first, scampering behind the last adult to leave.
As they walked, Sam looked at the hallways fondly, knowing she had many happy memories at this school. And luckily for her, Tara had her second-grade teacher, Ms. Rudolph. It was like a family reunion.
One by one, the parents filed into the room, kids squealing and chattering enthusiastically as they spotted their mommy or daddy. Sam grew more anxious by the second, worried that maybe she wasn’t what Tara wanted. Perhaps she should’ve sobered up their mother or begged their father to stay home.
But her worries immediately disappeared the second Tara laid eyes on her. Sam scanned the room for the big brown eyes she knew so well and the pigtails she had braided this morning with the special purple ribbon she stole from Claire’s. Sam had never seen her little sister smile so big.
It was like Christmas, Tara’s birthday, and summer vacation all rolled into one. The pout forming immediately vanished, a toothless smile taking its place. If Sam listened closely, she could probably hear the quick, wheezy breaths that happened when Tara got excited. Skipping school and being drenched in sweat was all worth it.
Sam waved to her, trying to suppress her excitement. She had a job to do and couldn’t let her sister down. Tara was practically jumping out of her desk when she saw her big sister, her friend Amber, trying to push her back into her seat. It was a perfect moment.
She couldn’t ruin it.
—-
“Alright, kids! Now we will hear from Tara’s special guest- her big sister, Sam Carpenter!”
A smattering of applause broke out, and Sam smiled sheepishly, making her way to the front. As she walked past all of the parents, Mrs. Meeks-Martin gave her a thumbs up, and Sheriff Hicks mouthed Good Luck. Mr. Freeman didn’t look up from his phone.
Ms. Rudolph gave Sam a quick hug, turning back to the kids with her beaming smile.
“Everybody say hello to Ms. Sam!”
A chorus of Hello, Ms. Sam, echoed through the crowded classroom, Tara’s voice leading the charge. Sam smiled tightly, trying to even her breathing. She didn’t want to screw this up. This was important.
“Hi, guys. I’m Miss Sam, and today, I’m going to tell you what it’s like to be a big sister!” she shakily said, trembling.
Murmurs could be heard, some snickering from Amber. It didn’t matter. She had a job to do.
“I’m a big sister to the best little girl in the world, and it is the best job ever. Let me tell you about it!”
She had never seen Tara smile so big and for so long.
Afterward, the kids got to take pictures with their parents, and each pair got two copies of their photo. Two sisters, one in the arms of the other, their cheeks squished together. Sam smiled big, Tara matching with her eyes squeezed shut. Sam would take hers with her wherever she went.
It was the best decision young Sam had ever made.

next: updated refs for the main adult cast (aka, the other core quintet)
- As principal of Jerome Horwitz Elementary, Erica Wang has dedicated her career to making sure every child in her school gets the support they need. Under Erica's leadership, JHES is a much less depressing place, sporting features like an art program, a fully-stocked library, after school tutoring, and an actual full-time school nurse.
- Erica herself also likes to take a hands-on approach with students, taking notice of anyone who seems to be struggling either academically or socially and working together with Bo to figure out the best course of action. While her intentions are definitely in the right place and come from a sense of genuine care, she does have a habit of forgetting to ask the students themselves what they think of her ideas....
- Design note: Erica's design is a fusion of her main kid design and her future "Grace Wain" persona
- Bo Hweemuth is the school's student guidance counselor, which basically means his job is to talk to students and help get them any resources they need, both in and outside of school. Though a lot of students feel intimidated by him at first glance, he's actually a very chill guy who likes to approach students with as much kindness and empathy as he can. He knows what it's like to be treated like a nuisance.
- Besides being co-workers, Bo is actually very good friends with Principal Wang, genuinely enjoying the work they do together to make sure every child at Jerome Horwitz can thrive.... despite any misgivings he might have about her approach. And speaking of co-workers, he's also recently struck up a pretty close friendship with the school librarian....
- In his spare time, he likes to experiment with clay sculpture. His office is decorated with all the little sculptures and figures he's made over the years.
- George Beard and Harold Hutchins are known around school as That One Pair Of Teachers; they're always together and are each other's best friend, even outside of work. To their students, they're some of the funnest teachers they've had at JHES, since they prioritize making their classes into fun, engaging learning environments through creative lesson plans and treating their students like actual people. Especially George, since he teaches the traditionally "boring" subjects of English and Literature.
- George and Harold are also the current co-leads of the school Music and Arts Program, along with music teacher Dressy Killman. Harold mentors in art, while George handles creative writing. They like to joke that they're "professionals in their field," except they're not really joking about that and it's just that everybody thinks that they are because nobody knows anything about them outside of the school.....
- Design note: George and Harold already have canon adult designs, so I just added on a few accessories to distinguish their AU selves from their canon counterparts (George's suspenders, Harold's vest)
- Melvin Sneedly (that's Professor Sneedly to you) is starting his first year as Jerome Horwitz's new science teacher, after a regrettably failed attempt to get his robotics career off the ground. He absolutely does not want to be here, he hates teaching, he hates kids, the sooner he can get out of this terrible place the better.
- He's not exactly helping his case by driving away everyone who tries to connect with him, either. Instead of spending his break times in the staff lounge with everyone else, he's spending them holed away in his classroom, poring over lesson plans, reminders of his broken dreams, and.... other stuff. It's probably not a good idea to keep bringing these personal projects to work with him but then again, his science career did fail for a reason....
- Design note: the main design philosophy here is "hey, what would Melvinborg look like without the robot half.....?"

ik this is so basic but like any chance you could write npmd where max doesn't die? like maybe he's hurt but the group helps him and he eventually goes back to school? thanks!
This one isn't my best, and I'm so sorry for that. And I'm sorry for the long-ish wait aswell!
Happy holidays!
“I.. don't feel a pulse.”
“Pete, you're not checking the right place.”
Pete dropped his hand, and Richie pushed him out of the way. He placed two fingers just under the right of Max’s jaw.
“He's not dead, yet, he still has a pulse,” Richie sounded so relieved, “it's just very slow.”
“Shit, Steph call an ambulance,” Pete turned to her, she was already pulling her phone out.
They don't know how long they waited, but all five let go of the breath they were holding when they heard the sirens from outside. The paramedics ran down to the basement, lifted Max onto a stretcher and ran back out, leaving the nerds and Steph.
“Will he be okay?” Ruth's voice was small.
“He will be fine, Ruth,” Steph placed her hand on Ruth's shoulder, though it sounded more like she was trying to assure herself.
“And if he isn't,” Grace had four eyes turned on her immediately, “it's okay! It's all god's plan.”
Everyone, save Grace, groaned.
-
Two weeks after the accident was the big game. Hatchetfield vs Clivesdale.
Hatchetfield lost, tragically.
And everybody blamed it on Max’s absence.
Thank god nobody knew why exactly he was in the hospital.
Then, three months later, Max came back to the school. If Pete were to think about it, he probably should have been in the hospital for much longer considering his injuries.
The jock slammed his food tray onto the nerds’ lunch table. It made Pete, Richie and Ruth jump.
“Shit!” Pete hissed.
“What's up, dickwards,” Max slid into the seat next to Steph.
“Uh,” Ruth looked very confused, “hi?”
The jock took a hefty bite out of his cheese sandwich, making himself at home.
Peter stared at him, he didn't trust him. He was going to hurt his friends, Pete knew it. Grace, however, was almost drooling from her mouth and she practically had heart eyes.
“Max?” Steph finally broke the silence that went on for a little too long, “what the fuck are you doing?”
“Eating lunch?” He didn't bother wait to swallow his food before speaking, “the fuck does it look like?”
“Uh, yeah, we know,” Richie fidgeted, itching his arm, “but why are you here? With us?”
Max swallowed his last bit of bread, “because, Shit-lips, I can. Plus, we're friends now, right?”
“What?” Peter almost gave himself whiplash.
Max looked at him like he was dumb, “we are friends, you guys did something so nice for me.”
“We almost killed you,” Richie said quickly.
The jock shrugged, “I don't hold grudges.”
“What about that time in-”
“I don't hold grudges, Flemward!” Max hissed at the girl, who curled into herself.
“Right,” Pete pinched the bridge of his nose, “but you've also been bullying us since elementary, Max.”
“Oh, yeah. I was hoping you guys don't hold grudges either.”
“You've got to be kidding me,” Pete's entire face was in his hands now.
“Oh! Before I forget, again,” Max suddenly went really chipper, “I've got this ‘welcome back Max’ party this Friday, and was hoping if you five would wanna come?”
“My god-”
“We'd love to, Max!” Grace suddenly spoke up, making Richie, who was sitting next to her jump.
“Cool, cool, cool.” Max stood up, “see you nerds there then,” he walked to his usual table.

destiny works in mysterious ways
the first time park y/n was called "smart" was when she was 7.
when you are that young and you have the premature ability to solve a math problem that contained two-digits numbers, you are prone to impress, and impress she did.
she knew she had something special the moment she told her mom what had happened in school that day and a big proud smile blossomed all over her face, so she decided to make the most out of that funny feeling she got whenever someone recognized and pointed out her wittiness.
she liked being "smart". you didn't have to be rich or popular to be smart, you simply were. it was something that came with you, and that gave her a sense of belonging in the rapidity of the world around her, making living something she could eat in small chunks.
it gave her confidence, and, most of all, the illusion that she knew who she was even from an early age. her stride through the halls of her primary school became hard as a soldier’s, because she knew her purpose in this world, even if that meant enclosing herself in such a compact box defined by a single characteristic. it didn't matter, because it gave her security, a foundation for whoever she came to be in the future.
until it all came to shreds.
they say destiny works in mysterious ways, and she believed that well enough. park y/n will never forget march 1st, 2006, because it was the day she, unfortunately, learned about lee minho's existence on planet earth and this spiritual plane. the day her life was ruined forever.
one could always argue upon her blind hatred since she didn't even know his name yet, however, when he walked into the classroom with his cocky face and his perfectly dressed school uniform, she immediately knew he was going to be trouble.
growing up, she was very wary of other kids who were dressed too nicely, too tidy, too spoiled. at that moment, it was almost as if something in the air had changed, a never-ending tension set in her core amidst the squeals of elementary school students excited about the beginning of the school year.
"everybody, could someone tell me what are the three physical states of water?", with everybody already in their seats, the teacher opened up the first class with a question.
y/n obviously knew the answer, so she raised her hand, ready to say it out loud. back at her old school, she was the only kid that ever raised her hand to answer the teacher's questions, so her surprise was practically palpable when she realized that the teacher was looking at something behind her, at the back of the room.
"yes, minho?"
"liquid, solid and gas, miss?" y/n felt her hand slowly returning to the top of her desk and her shoulders slumping, along with her entire spirit.
she has never had any familiarity with competition, giving how much she shone academically in the space she studied before.
fighting the voice in her head, y/n turned quickly to get a good look at this "minho".
she wasn't surprised when she found out the smug-looking boy from earlier. what made her blood boil, however, was the way he was looking directly at her while being praised by the teacher. he must have seen her with her arm up, ready to answer, and the smirk that marked his lips translated into nothing but a challenge in her rapidly-working mind.
that's what started it all.
it became a never-ending cycle: she would be going about her life as normal until lee minho showed up as a terrifyingly yet loathsome ghost, ready to spoil whatever peace she was having.
it happened when she entered the chess club back when she was 12, and, to no one's surprise, he walked through the door right after her. both were kicked out of the club by the next day anyway. the match they were determined to play against one another lasted almost 6 hours, preventing all the other members of the club from having the opportunity to play as well (and the monitor apparently found that "unfair" to the other kids).
there was also that time, when they were both at the age of 13, in art class, where y/n tried to replicate the movement technique that was used by monet in water lilies. she had been determinedly busy with that piece of work for weeks now. minho tried to do a retelling of some stupid picasso painting. when he walked past her desk to get another brush at the front of the room, he ended up bumping into a pot of blue paint that was laying by her canvas, ruining all of y/n's progress along with her uniform. in a combination of blue and red that tainted and heated up her face in anger, the only thing he managed to say to her was a "well, at least now is much better that the hideous thing you were doing before". she had no appeal in being expelled, so she didn't jump on his neck right then and there, refraining from making him apologize on his knees forcefully. instead, she just filled her lungs calmly and proceeded to shoot out the most obscene curses she knew up to that point in time (it was, in a way, an admirably large and effective vocabulary).
if you thought lee minho has some limit or social block to becoming even more annoying and inconvenient, you are terribly wrong. the advanced literature class was almost a private wrestling ring for both of them when they were 15. the best grade on the end-of-year assignment was the ultimate goal because whoever did the best article on a classic would win an award in front of the entire school and would have their text sent to a professional journalist. while minho chose to do it on the great gatsby, y/n decided to explore the feminine theme behind madame bovary, and without even having picked up pen and paper yet, she already knew deep down that her research would crumple whatever silly text he even thought of writing. that's if he even knew how to, in the first place.
everything was going according to what she planned; her text was well-grounded and her thesis had become very clear in that process, seeking the comprehension of the reader. her calm state was thrown into the trash, however, when minho went to the teacher's desk to ask questions about his thesis and she ended up overhearing that he had already written 25 pages.
she had only written 17 at that point.
y/n had always believed that quantity didn't mean quality, but knowing that he had been more competent than her and had a repertoire to fill more pages than she did brewed a warm, nagging feeling of anger in her stomach. even though her text was closing perfectly with what she already had, she kept in her head that you can always go deeper into things, and more knowledge was never too much.
she started researching more and more and adding as much information as she could in order to fill in at least 26 pages - and so she did.
now it was her turn. with the messy draft papers under her arm, she confidently strolled to the teacher's desk to ask about the development of her text. when she asked how many pages she had written, y/n took a deep breath, opened a proud smirk and said in a louder voice, but not too openly, "26".
move completed. walking back to her class, she noticed minho's eyes narrowed in her direction, his tongue running over his teeth.
she could never be in advantage for way too long when it came to lee minho.
the next day, when she was going to get something to drink from the vending machine, y/n was surprised to see him leaning with his back against the wall in front of it along with a friend, both looking around incessantly, as if searching for something. skeptically, y/n continued her path to get her water, but with slower steps and a small frown on her face now. when minho noticed her presence and his eyes looked deep into hers, he slightly kicked the friend next to him, who jumped and fixed the glasses that were sliding down his nose.
"h-hey minho, how is your project going?" the blond boy with the big glasses stammered. y/n hated herself for paying attention to whatever conversation lee minho was having, but giving how close the pair were to the vending machine didn't help her one bit.
"what project are we talking about, yongbok?" she wanted to vomit. she, unfortunately, knew minho enough to know when he was faking sweetness and innocence, due to the uncountable times he used it with teachers in front of her. his pitch would go up and the smile he was trying his best not to make it be known was audible in his voice.
"the o-one from advanced literature" yongbok managed to get it out.
"aaaah" she heard minho chuckling as she inserted coin after coin into the machine. "i've got 34 pages by now".
she pressed the number of her water more forcefully than she intended. and he probably noticed.
"what? you had 25 by yesterday!" his friend exclaimed, actually seeming surprised.
"ah, you know..." the bottle of water dropped but y/n didn't move, eyes focused on the white lights of the machine, hearing little steps coming closer to her carefully. "i don't know what happened either, i guess i just got a... peak of motivation yesterday" his voice was closer to her than before, and y/n's hands were balled into fists. "let's go, yongbok, i don't want to be late for p.e.".
y/n skipped p.e.
that was the first time she ever skipped any class, but a battle was installed and she would rather die than give lee minho the satisfaction of winning over her. that's why she ducked into the school library and started to get as many books that could help with her research and went to work.
"knowledge is gold, knowledge is gold, knowledge is gold, y/n, knowledge is gold..." she repeated like a mad person. perhaps she was becoming mad. perhaps he was making her mad. she was normal before his stupid face made way into her life, wasn't she? she couldn't quite remember who she was before he came along to be the bane of her fucking existence.
by the end of the week, that is, when the article was supposed to be given to the teacher, she had managed to fill in 50 sheets from top to bottom. it was a safe number and she knew she had left minho to eat the dust she left behind. she was looking like a zombie for dodging sleep for a few days now in order to achieve her goal, but still proud and confident.
the classes felt like they didn't pass, and 10am seemed like an unattainable delirium that never arrived. until it did.
"everyone, please bring your assignments to my desk" miss young spoke, and the war enemies in the classroom were obviously the first ones to get up and go up to her desk.
miss young's surprised face was explicit as the two extended their works at the same time.
"hum..." she started, unsure. "how many pages did you write?".
again, in the same second, they both let out a proud "50", too focused on themselves to pay attention to what the other had said in the first place.
the entire class became uproar, the other students not having even managed to write 5 full pages, but y/n barely noticed. when reality came up to her, she looked at him with wide eyes. the realization of her sharing the same train of thought with an asshole such as lee minho makes y/n want to throw up everything she had for breakfast and tear her hair out with her bare hands. even with an equally surprised look coming from him, the annoyingly teasing smirk that was his trademark and also the source of y/n's daily anger appeared without further ado. it was obvious he was making fun of the whole situation while she succumbed to the disappointment she felt in herself, bubbling in the pit of her stomach.
the days that followed were marked by the tension of the rest of the students, as everyone was invested in which of the two would win the fateful prize. it wasn't that they really cared about a silly prize from a literature class, but rather the endless conflict between the school's two brains.
when she was heading to the locker room after a torturous gym class, she was stopped in her tracks by a boy sitting in the bleachers, a towel slung lazily around his broad shoulders and a bottle of water used as a freshener on his forehead. she had never spoken to him, but she had walked through the halls of that place enough to know that his name was changbin. as she passed in front of him, he called out for her with a short whistle.
"hey, you" he said. his lack of politeness deeply irritated y/n, but she stood still, waiting to see what he had to say. "did you win?" he asked.
"win what?"
"that silly award from literature class" he clarified, opening his water and taking a sip.
crossing her arms and softly scoffing, she asked "why do you want to know? were you also running to win it?"
"nah" he laughed, closing the bottle. "i didn't even turn in mine. i was just interested in whether it was you or the playboy who won it".
she looked in the opposite direction from where they were both talking, at the bleachers on the other side of the court, where minho was receiving two water bottles by two girls from the year below, their eyes had a dreamy, sickeningly sweet look to them, and she simply couldn't not feel sorry for the girls. the pair os girls talked nonstop, making minho visibly dizzy, but still, smug with the attention. changbin was more than correct, the nickname "playboy" fit perfectly with the boy's snobbish personality, although y/n had ideas of others that were a little more... hostile and explicit.
"i didn't yet, but i will, you can bet on it" she said, finally, still looking at the boy at the other side of the room with disgust.
anyone can reasonably imagine everyone's (really, everyone's) surprise when the final result was announced.
"what?!" both y/n and minho exclaimed.
"you two can't hand me the best papers i've ever received from high school students throughout my decades of lecturing career and expect me to pick just one of them. both of you will win the prize and that's the end of it. you should be happy about it!"
"but, miss young..." y/n tried to stand up for herself. losing to him was a reasonable justification for masking her stomach turn, however, being put on the same level as he was offensive and degrading.
for fuck's sake, she skipped class to do this stupid article, fought the urge to pluck gustave flaubert from his grave, bring him back to life and kill him once more, avoided sleeping, read until her eyes burned, and wrote until she couldn't feel her fingers anymore. that's what her effort was worth. all to get onstage with the federal idiot lee minho and win the same award as him, being required to have a grateful smile on her face and thank the adults who only did as much as read the product of her hell on earth for the inexplicably amazing opportunity.
"no 'but', miss park, we are finished here. be grateful for what you've got up to this point". miss young ended the conversation, gathered her materials and left the room.
"man, that was a bummer..." minho starts saying, humor plastered in his voice.
"shut up, i can't even listen to your voice right now" she interrupted, walking back to her desk.
"wow" he says, bouncing after her. when she sat down on her chair, he stopped in front of her, holding out a fisted hand as if he was holding out a microphone. "tell me then, park y/n, how are you feeling? disappointed in yourself? impressed? sad? ready to cry? with such fury that you could kill 5 helpless orphans?"
y/n only takes a deep breath, trying to keep what composure she still has left in her body.
"do you have any idea of how unbelievably annoying you actually are?" she asks, frankly. "you really needed to put your stupid brain into writing the 50 pages. god! 50 is a specific fucking number!"
"huuum..." he looks up, pretending he's making a lot of effort to think. suddenly, he opens a playful smirk. "i'm not annoying enough to have you ignore me, apparently".
"i think you're hallucinating and seeing things that don't actually exist. have you considered going to a psychologist to see what's wrong with you... here?" she replied, softly poking her own head to emphasize her point even more - the point being that lee minho was an imbecile, regardless of how many 100% scores he scored on countless tests, how many of his papers were praised by professors, and how many ugly academic olympic trophies he won.
"ouch, you hurt my feelings being like that" he pretends to take an invisible arrow from his chest. suddenly, from one second to the next, his face turns completely serious "you know, this whole situation pisses me off too, because it will make you think you are closer to my level than you are, and i hate how smug you get when you think you have more capabilities than you actually do, so you think you have what it takes to go head-to-head with someone like me...". he then places his hands on her class and lowers himself so that her eyes level with his "and, as much of a gentleman as i am, i'm not one to go easy on anyone, especially not you, y/n".
"you talk way too much for your own good, minho" she doesn't back down even though what he said had the slightest impact on her, but it is quickly smothered back inside, under lock and key. instead, she raises her chin slightly. "the thing is that you are a brainless moron, so i can't bring myself to understand whatever you are trying to babble no matter how much i try to".
"ha" he scoffs, but stares her down for a couple more second before saying "let's go grab something to eat, yongbok, i'm already bored".
the day they were to receive the award was a gray day as if the heavens had such empathy for her and behaved according to the sadness of the occasion. after a speech that neither of them paid attention to, they had to go up on stage together, take the trophies from miss young's hands and take a picture together with plasticized smiles on their faces. despite y/n's disappointment, the other students found the situation humorous, all applauding in an exaggerated matter and making hearts for them from the audience in front of the stage, causing a hot wave of anger to rise through her body. only anger. park y/n didn't get embarrassed, especially next to lee minho.
despite the already eventful timeline of terror that marked unpleasant but fundamental moments for the comprehension of the relationship between y/n and minho, the real switch in their dynamics was when the ranking by grades was introduced in their lives. now everything was, if possible, more public than ever. due to this, if minho scored even 1% higher than her on a test, the remnants of that would be printed on a huge chart that covered the wall of the hall at the entrance to the school, the one in front of the canteen and in a pillar inside the classroom. even if she would have the displeasure of discovering that he had surpassed her in a test through his ridiculous jokes directed at her in the hallways (which often happened), if she performed worse than him, her failure would be exposed to everyone's eyes, and that was not something she craved.
and now it's the first day of y/n's senior year in high school, but she barely notices. her mother is fussing over fixing her hair and uniform as she tries to eat an apple as quickly as possible.
"ah, my baby" her mother whispers, getting emotional at the end of the cycle she watched throughout her daughter's growth.
y/n, however, can only see the shade of purple that already seemed tattooed under the eyes of the exhausted woman in front of her. as much as today should have been an exciting day, she couldn't feel any trace of contentment while looking at her mother these days. she didn't know if that was a bad thought for a daughter to have, but in the back of her mind, she sometimes felt mirth with not needing to see her mother for a few days just to get away from the discomfort that crept up her spine every time she passed by her in the morning.
"mom, mom" she began, struggling to get her hands away from her face and make her pay attention to what she wanted to say. "how many hours did you sleep last night?"
"about 4" but y/n only frowned at her response. "or 3...".
"mom..."
"y/n, this is hospital life. you're need to get used to it, this is how shifts work"
"it's not about that" she tried argumenting.
"so what is it? do you want me to have less shifts? you know i can't do thi-"
"yes" she interrupted, looking away anywhere but her. "yes, i know, that's not what i meant".
after a sigh, she felt her holding her arms lovingly. "you worry too much, don't go clogging your little head with silly things".
"i know"
"just worry about your studies. you know i'll always take care of everything, don't you?"
"i know"
and so she left.
the walk to school was always pleasant, a breath of fresh air before the constant tension that marred the rest of her day. the walk back, during the night, was not so enticing; she knew she would stick her head in textbooks again as soon as she set foot in her room again, and the longed-for rest was never fully achieved, she was always very aware of what was necessary to get her what she wanted in the future.
she enters school without feeling an ounce of excitement and nostalgia that her peers feel on their last first day. what knocked the air out of her lungs, on the contrary, was the physical shock she had against someone who was right in her way as she stormed forward.
she's always seen lee yongbok in a pejorative light (a doormat, a coward, a social slave, though she wouldn't be surprised if she found out minho's parents paid him to hang out with him), and his clumsiness never went unnoticed either. when she stumbles into the blond boy and ends up falling flat on her face in the middle of the school hall, landing with such gracelessness that it seemed divinely orchestrated, she simply couldn't believe it had happened in the very first second she stepped inside the school, on the first day.
"i-i'm sorry i-"
"i can't believe it, you fucking idiot!" she exclaimed, her face's anger reflecting into his internal turmoil. pushing herself back up, she took a look at her bruised knees uncovered due to the uniform skirt, already reddening up. she made a point of throwing him a murderous look, the boy froze and his cheeks started to take on color. if she tried to imagine what a person looked like before crumbling in shame, this would be the vision that would come to mind.
"sometimes i ask myself if, in case you tried hard enough, you could actually stop being such a tremendous bitch" a snickering voice sounds behind her, just as she was contemplating whether the boy in front of her had been frozen in place or if he was simply having a cardiac arrest. "until you're faster and prove to me that it would never be possible, it's in your blood, maybe you enjoy being a prick to people".
she hisses, bending down to get her books that were splattered on the floor. after all that, the last thing that would contribute to her wrecked mood would be listening to whatever shit minho felt like dumping on her about her character as if his was oh-so admirable.
"you know he meant no harm. our yongbok is sweet to everyone and wouldn't hurt a fly on purpose, now would you, yongie?" out of the corner of her eye, she could see that minho had reached the blonde, draping an arm over his shoulders and shaking him affectionately alongside a high-pitched voice, as if he was talking to a dog. she only managed to roll her eyes.
after gathering all her stuff from the floor, she stood up and looked minho straight in the eye. not that he deserved it.
"you make me sick" she said as if bile was getting caught up in her throat simply by directing her speech to him. she wasted no time in leaving to go to the infirmary to put bandaids on her knees, which already felt like they were bleeding slightly, if the faint feeling of delicate droplets dripping to her shin gave away anything.
"there she is!" minho exclaimed, pointing at her, finding her reaction amusing as if she was a comedian, but she had already turned her back on him. "aaaah, this is going to be a very, very long year" and he smirked.
stay tuned for chapter 2! ☆

Next Chapter
---
Rolling into the small gloomy town didn’t have any of the mysterious bravado you were anticipating. No roaring clouds or looming men in black coats. But it wasn’t exactly comforting either. The sky was a little weird, dark smoke coming from somewhere. But people were outside, some cars running by, it wouldn’t have felt off in the slightest if it were the beginning of November. It was the end of August though. Granted you weren't counting on the same busy streets you were used to in Bloomigton but a few kids running around, school supplies here and there, something that indicated the start of a new school year would’ve been nice. But there was nothing like that. After the “Welcome to Hawkins HELL” sign it was like you entered a different dimension completely. The end of summer shouldn’t have felt like this. Filled with gray and goo and oozing with uncertainty.
It did come in handy with the accommodation, not many people want to rent rooms in a town where teenagers and children go missing (if they’re lucky) on a regular basis, malls burn down and weird natural disasters seem to occur out of nowhere. You glanced at the map that was nearly dry now after having coffee spilled on it a few hours ago. Finding the street should be easy at least. The realtor lady gave an unnecessarily long-winded explanation to where you could find the house. Like she was worried that you might turn around and leave if it took more than five minutes to find the house. You wouldn’t have turned around of course. This was precisely what you were looking for. Somewhere no one else is looking for.
The low prices, the ever vacating spots in the elementary school also worked in your favour. You were just out of college, nobody in their right mind would’ve given you a full-time teaching spot. Unless of course they desperately needed someone. It was elementary but still, it was a teaching job. A real teaching job. And it somehow seemed that maybe an earthquake or two is worth the fresh start. God knows you needed it.
Unpacking wasn’t hard at all. Two boxes of belongings, journals, pens, paper, you still needed to buy a pair of scissors that was for sure. A box of kitchen supplies, although the lady did say that the former residents left in a hurry so there’ll be plenty of stuff left for you. About two suitcases filled with clothes and your pillow. That was about it. Packing in the kitchen you also made a note to buy some new kitchen towels. When you were finally done, you were exhausted. You considered for a minute that maybe you should just read a little and call it a day. You had a week to adjust and discover the town, but somehow you still felt restless.
Picking up the car keys, setting out to get some dinner and maybe grab a movie, you were out the door again. Spending more time in the town, you started to get that mysterious bravado you were expecting. People were out on the streets, yes, but nobody would look you in the eyes and you could swear everybody was staring at your car when you stopped for gas. Maybe it’s just a small town, you thought, it takes time for people in places like this to get used to a new face, right? And after all, they were probably shaken by the recent tragedies that seemed to have a perverse fascination with the small town in Indiana. There was this tense atmosphere, really everywhere you went. The convenient store was a little empty and the cashier looked at you like she just caught you cheating on a test. A little suspicious, a little apprehensive, a little scolding. She didn’t even say a proper goodbye, just kind of hummed. Even though you made it a point to be very polite. Sometimes your black clothes and eyeliner throw older people off even if you're nowhere near a goth or metalhead vibe.
Next stop was the grocery store. Get some dinner, get some breakfast and then get back home. Maybe discovering the town at this specific moment wasn’t that great of an idea after all.
You were checking out the snack aisle, debating whether you should stack some stuff up or maybe buy just enough for that day and the next, so you would have to come back. Maybe if they see you more frequently they’ll get used to you faster. Lost in your thoughts and eyeing if they had Pringles you were alerted to your surroundings with a loud bang of your basket.
“Oh, shit.” You said in tandem with the girl you bumped. “God, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking-
“Oh, fuck, I can’t believe this, why do I have to be so clumsy all the time!” The girl with the dirty blonde bob exclaimed.
You both scrambled to your knees and gathered your stuff, mostly helping the other person.
“I’m so sorry, I was just thinking about what I should be wearing tomorrow because I have this date thing. Kind of. I don’t even know if it is a date. We’re going to the movies, but friends can go to the movies, right? So, where does that leave me? Do I put on mascara or is that trying too hard? Do I wear a skirt? I don’t even own a skirt! I could always borrow one from Nancy, but the mere thought of pink and ruffles makes me want to hurl and- Jesus, and now I’m rambling and you don’t wanna hear this and- I don’t know you.”
You chuckled a little.
‘It would be weirder if you did. I just arrived today, and you didn’t bother me at all. This is like the third place I’ve visited today and you're kind of the only person who’s not acting like I’ve already committed a crime when I wasn’t planning on doing that for at least two more weeks.’
She stares at you with a little crooked smile in the corner of her mouth and wide eyed.
‘I’m joking of course.’ You tried to backtrack immediately when you didn’t get a reaction. ‘I’m not planning on committing any crimes! Unless you guys consider returning a library book too late a felony.’ She was still just staring and blinking at her. ‘Also a joke, sorry. God, I’m on fire today.’ You muttered to yourself.
‘Oh, my God, I haven’t said anything in so long! Those were good jokes, just- I’m just- why are you here?’
You were taken aback by the question. So that’s it. This is what everyone's thinking upon seeing you here. That there must be something wrong with you. Or you have some ulterior motives for moving here. Not like they’re wrong, but jeez, they could cut a girl some slack.
‘Wow, very straightforward.’ You chuckled again awkwardly, trying to delay your answer as much as possible.
‘No, I mean, I’m just surprised. We don’t get a lot of new residents these days.’
‘Fair enough.’ You took a deep breath, contemplating what to say exactly. ‘Well-
‘Oh, Robin. Robin Buckley.’ the girl said, giving her a little wave.
‘Well, Robin, I just finished university and my training as a teacher. I have a fuck ton of student debts and believe it or not, not many schools are looking for a teacher with no experience. So, here I am. The children of Hawkins Elementary will have to make due with yours truly. And besides, I don’t scare that easily.’ You tried a little mischievous smile and much to your surprise and delight, it worked. The freckled girl lit up a little and gave her a good, full mouthed grin.
‘Okay. I think you’ll fit right in.’
You laughed at that.
‘Sorry, what was your name again?’
You reminded her that you never really told her your name, which now you did.
‘But my friends usually just call me Peach. I used to talk a lot about peaches when we realized I’m allergic to them, and it just kinda stuck.’
‘It was very nice to meet you, Peach! If you need any advice on the coolest spots or the lamest ones, maybe in a bookstore or something, just ask.’
‘Actually, I might take you up on that right now. I wanted to rent some movies for tonight and I heard there’s a video store in town but I haven't found it yet.’ You haven't tried that hard either, but she doesn't have to know that. The first person who was nice to you all day. You need this.
‘You, my friend, have come to the exact right place! Come on!’ She just headed for the cashier.
‘Well, I guess no Pringles for me then.’ You whisper below your nose.
‘Shit, sorry, I didn’t even ask if you were done!’ Robin turned around and rushed back.
You found her very endearing. She was younger. Not by a lot, but just enough that you could feel it in her tone, see it in her gangly limbs and hear it in her rambling. She was like a puppy dog that was still trying to find its footing in the world.
‘You’re okay, just gonna grab some Pringles.’
‘That’s my favourite too!’ She exclaimed again and this makes her look even younger. Finding such joy in such a simple thing. Something you don’t remember doing in a long time.
‘Great, then I’ll know who to blame when they run out’ you said jokingly.
‘God, you’re good.’ Robin grinned once more and you felt like this town might not be so gloomy after all.
***
‘Oh, and there’s of course Lovers Lake but...’ she trails off for a second there. ‘Yeah, no one really goes there since the, well, you know the murders last year.’
‘Okay, so Enzo’s is a yes, Family Video is a yes and Lovers Lake is a ‘you really should know better’. Sounds about right?’
‘That’s exactly right!’
Robin has been catching you up on the town’s intricacies for the past 10 minutes as you walked towards the video store.
‘And what kind of movie were you thinking?’
‘Oh, I don’t really know. I’m a little wiped from the drive, so nothing heavy. No double features. I live alone and haven’t really gotten used to the place yet, so no horror either. Just the thought of romance currently has shivers running up my spine, so a strong no to that too. I’ll have to go with some action or comedy, I think. Back to Future and Ghostbusters never disappoint.’
‘Bad breakup?’
‘Huh?’
‘You just said romance makes your spine tingle or whatever. Bad breakup?’
‘Uhm, yeah, sort of.’ You don’t wanna say anymore but you also don’t want to look like you’re hiding something. It’s not even that. You’re just trying to forget. ‘But it’s a long and not exactly happy story.’
‘No, I get it. Breakups are a bitch. Not that I know that much about it.’
‘I mean, how much do you really have to know? You loved someone and they loved you and it’s not like that anymore. It sucks whichever way you cut it.’
Robin hummed at that and became very quiet. You were worried that maybe you struck the wrong chord with what you just said.
‘If you haven’t broken up tho, we probably never would’ve met, have we?’
‘That's a good point Robin.’ You smiled at her and looped an arm in hers. ‘Now come on, show me where the goods are!’
‘Please, don’t get your hopes up too much, we don’t have anything that isn’t at least two months old and our manager is a bit of an asshole but I’m sure you’ll find something and Dingus is not half bad at this anymore either.’
‘Dingus?’
‘You’ll find out in a second’ she said pushing in the door.
‘Sorry, we’re closing in five minutes. Please come back tomorrow or be very quick ‘cause I have to pick someone up. Thank you!’ you heard someone calling from the back.
‘Calm down Dingus, it’s just me and my new best friend.’
A messy brown haired boy popped up from behind the counter.
‘What?’
‘Peach, this is Steve, Steve this is Peach. Peach is new in town and Steve’s a dingus.’
‘Hey!’ the boy said, indignant.
‘She’s gonna figure it out sooner or later, might as well get it out of the way.’
The way they talked to each other was very sibling-like. You didn’t have any yourself but your best friend in high school had three and this was mostly the way they communicated with each other. Not very veiled insults and teasing. Classic. And also highly entertaining for everyone involved, if done correctly.
‘Sorry, I don’t wanna keep you away from your date, I just wanted to rent a movie for tonight.’
‘Oh, he’s not going on a date’ the moment the frackled girl spoke up, Steve started to give her his best ‘please shut up’ eyes, but she didn’t notice. Unlike you, who definitely did. He wasn’t subtle. ‘He’s just picking up his other friend, who happens to be a 14 year old.’
You couldn’t not chuckle at that even though you really tried, seeing as the boy in front of you had a pained look in his eyes and a bit of a blush on his cheeks.
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh. Also, I’m not one to talk. I chose a whole ass career that requires me to spend hours upon hours with children, so…’ you shrugged as a way to indicate, you didn’t really have a good closing thought for that sentence.
‘Are you a babysitter?’ The boy asked with furrowed brows and a tilted head. He didn't look unlike a goden retriever puppy.
‘No, dude, she’s a teacher! Isn’t that awesome?’
‘A teacher? Aren't you, like, way too young for that?’
‘You guys have very little scrupulous about what you can and can’t say, huh? But to answer your question, yes and no. I just graduated, but this place was losing teachers so fast, they needed an arts teacher, like, yesterday, so here we are. Also I did everything early.’
‘How old are you by the way, if you don’t mind me asking’ Robin chimed in now.
‘I’m 23. I have a good 10 years before I start being precious about my age, I think.’
He let out a light laugh and you took it as all clear for the laugh earlier.
‘Okay, so did you guys just come here to annoy me or can I help you with something?’
‘Oh, yeah, sorry, I was looking for a movie for tonight and Robin offered help.’
‘Great, what’s the mood, what are we thinking? Winding down after a long day with a glass of wine? Or are you looking for some excitement? Maybe a date night?’
This time you’re the one to miss the curious glint in the boy’s eyes, while Robin catches it and squints at Steve’s sneaky inquiry.
‘Oh, first one for sure. I’ve had enough excitement for one day and if I had a date I’d either need a lot more or a lot less snacks. So, just some classic entertainment for me today. You know, Risky Business, Raising Arizona, Back to the Future, something like that.’
‘Really? Back to the Future?’
‘What? You didn’t like it?’
‘It’s not that I didn’t like it, it’s just a weird movie.’
‘Okay, the mom falling in love with her son part gets a little dicey at places but I love the concept, the DeLorean is a crazy cool car and Michael J. Fox is a total cutie. It’s a future classic.’
‘Huh, maybe I should give it a second chance.’
‘I might be biased but you definitely should. But only after I brought it back.’
‘Of course, ladies first, always.’ Now he smiles with something more than a little mischief. ‘Uhm, I’ll go get it for you, just stay here.’ It's not lost on you that the boy is pretty. But you know his type. It's the type you have stay cautious with. The dangerous type. At least for you.
‘So, what are your plans for the week?’ Robin asks as Steve disappears between the rows.
‘Not much really, just wanna get a little more situated and used to the town before starting school. I still have to buy some supplies, I’m big on reward stickers, I have to make sure, I always have them on me.’
‘And there we go, one Back to the Future for you’ he smiles. ‘Now I just need a couple basic information from you. Full name, address, date of birth aaand a phone number.’
You give your info to him and he rings you up.
‘Well, it was lovely meeting you guys, and you know, I guess I’ll see you around.’
‘Sure, and if you need help with anything else-
‘Enzo’s is a yes, Family Video is a definitely and Lovers Lake is a ‘you should know better’, got it.’
‘I mean, Lovers Lake gets a bad rep, but as long as you don’t want to swim it’s a great spot for a picnic or just hanging out’ Steve chimes and Robin squints again.
‘Huh. Alright, well, I guess I’ll just have to see for myself.’ You say your goodbyes and you start heading for the door but turn back as you suddenly think of something.
‘Hey, if this is too much, just say so, and I’ll go and we don’t have to talk about this ever again, but would you guys want to come around for like a housewarming dinner sometime? I know it’s probably too early but I don’t have any friends, or know anyone here, really, and you guys seem cool. I’m a decent cook and I can buy alcohol absolutely legally and I don’t have any board games, but I can buy some, or charades or whatever’ you knew you were rambling, but you couldn’t help it. You were tired and you hated to admit it but also a little bit lonely. You went out on a limb here, something that you arguably maybe did too much. But to your surprise they perk up.
‘Yeah’ Steve says with a hint of a smile. ‘What time were you thinking?’
‘How about Saturday, say around 7?’
‘It’s a date, we’ll be there, right Robs?’
‘Sure, we’ll bring desserts and oh, we could introduce you to a couple of our friends? Or maybe that’s too overwhelming. But it’s just a couple people and they’re all great, I promise. I mean, they’re little shitheads sometimes but they’re great.’
‘Yeah, oh my God, that sounds awesome! Can’t wait! And you have my address now, right?’ You raise an eyebrow at Steve.
‘Y-Yeah, we do, see you then. And just for the record, I can buy alcohol legally as well.’
‘Hm. Good to know.’
You’re giddy with your plans and have a spring in your step as you walk back to the car, blissfully unaware of Robin scolding Steve behind you.
‘Stop that.’
‘What? I’m not doing anything.’
‘Is it a date night? Lovers Lake? We don’t ask for anybody’s phone number and then you sign off with ‘it’s a date’? You’re not slick Harrington.’
‘Oh, shut up, those were just… I was just making conversation.’
‘Uh-huh, sure thing Casanova.’
‘Okay, maybe I was testing the waters a little. So what? I’m single, from what I understand, she is too, it’s not a crime.’
‘You’re also in love with Nancy. And she seems way too cool and way too nice for you to break her heart. Not that Brenda deserved to get her heart broken, but she was always a little mean in high school, so I’m biased.’
‘I didn’t break Brenda’s heart, she just liked Nate more and I’m not in love with Nancy.’
‘Fine, but you’re sure as shit not gonna break hers either. And don’t tell me, you’re not still hung up on Wheeler, cause I can see the look in your eyes, every time that obnoxious pizza van rolls into the parking lot. Also I think she might just have gone through a rough breakup or something.’
‘Who? Nancy?’
'No, Dingus, Peach!' Robin says as he swats at his chest.
'Oh.'
‘Yeah, she didn’t like say it-say it, but mentioned something in the parking lot that sounded a lot like it. So, just, you know, tread lightly, okay?
***
As you drive back home, that spooky feeling and mysterious bravado strike again. It wasn’t dark just yet but the sun was much lower in the sky and the empty streets felt colder somehow. You usually loved sunsets but there was something unnatural about the hue of orange and red today, and you did not like it one bit.
‘This is okay, you’re okay.’ You muttered to yourself, as you looked into the rearview mirror. ‘This is exactly what you came here for, you’re not chicken shit, you’ve dealt with much worse, just get it together.’
You rested your head against the steering wheel for a second. Almost unconsciously, as a routine or a mantra you reach for the glove compartment. Opening it, you reach inside and immediately relax as you find the Colt in there. You let out a long exhale and finish the routine with checking the bullets and the safety. You shove it in your bag and head inside the house.

We're moving so i did So Much today to prep my room for staging or whatever, i didnt even get to writing until like. 9:30 or 10, so it's short and sweet today, posted with just over an hour to spare
@taznovembercelebration
Day 12: coworkers au
Lup's just trying to help Magnus out and make a little extra pocket change. Why does shit always have to go sour?
Read it on AO3
When Magnus first proposed his idea for a winter time side hustle, Lup didn't think it'd really get off the ground. Who was going to pay to have someone put up their outdoor Candlenights decorations for them? Decorating is half the fun of the season. But she agreed to help when she could.
Turns out, a lot of people will pay for it. They had to introduce a service to just put lights along the eavestroughs. People hate doing that shit, but she and Magnus run like a well oiled machine. Neither of them necessarily need the money, but it's a nice little bonus to end the ear. Plus it gets them outside during the few hours of sunlight. Take that, seasonal depression.
Lup's up on a ladder, adjusting some of the attachments along one part of the house. Magnus is somewhere nearby, fiddling with another string, trying to untie the knot it tied itself into over the past ten months in storage. “We wrap these up nicely, don't we?” He says. “Every year, we bundle them up so we don't have to do this, and every year they're impossible!”
Lup attaches a few extra hooks to the house. “Just give it a good shake, they'll sort themselves out.” She hears the jingling of little lightbulbs clinking against each other, and Magnus exclaims happily. “Told you.” She snaps the string she's working on into the new hooks. “Alright, Mags. Give that a tug.”
Magnus plus his untangled string into the end of hers, and pulls gently on the join. The droops in the string pull taut, and the lights hang perfectly straight down. Lup nods, satisfied.
She's taken two steps down the ladder when her foot slips. She tries to throw her hands out behind her, but she lands hard against the frozen ground. “Holy shit!” Mangus runs over and drops to his knees by her side. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” she says unconvincingly, “just waiting for the sky to stop spinning.”
Magnus inhales sharply. “Alright, uh, I'm gonna call 911.”
“You don't have to do that.”
“No, I super do. Because, one, you just fell off a ladder onto dirt that's been frozen solid, without any snow to break your fall, and two,” he pauses, and she can see him cringe, “I, uh, don't think your elbow's supposed to bend like that.”
She cranes her neck up to look, and she really wishes she hadn't. Her arm is laying in a way it really shouldn't be. She drops her head back against the ground. “Why doesn't it hurt?”
“Shock, probably? Just- don't move.”
“Roger.”
By the time the ambulance shows up, it hurts. The paramedics do whatever tests they have to. She wiggles her fingers and toes, she knows her name, where she is, the date, the president, all that good stuff. They stabilise her arm and load her up. Magnus stays behind so he can drive his truck and meet her at the hospital.
Once there, they do some x-rays and it turns out she fucked up her arm real bad. No concussion, thankfully. They set the bone, which hurts like a bitch, but she gets a pink cast out of it.
“I always wanted to break a bone when I was younger,” Magnus says as the nurse wraps Lup's arm in the hot pink material.
The nurse laughs. “That's pretty common.”
“I dreamed of having a red cast. Like, firetruck red. And everybody at school would see my cool red cast and sign it.”
“I'm living my dreams, babe,” Lup says. “Hot pink cast for the win.”
“Hell yeah.” He high fives her good hand.
She looks back at the nurse, “how long do I have to wear this anyway?”
“With the complexity of the break, it could be six to eight weeks."
“Eight weeks?!”
“Maybe more, if an x-ray shows that it's shifted or not healing properly.”
“It didn't feel like kids had casts on for that long in elementary school,” Magnus says.
“Simpler breaks don't need as long.”
“Damn.” She looks at Magnus, “I don't think I'll be going up any ladders any time soon.”
“Yeah, god, please don't.”

"didnt get enough screen time" is technically a lie because hes like the most recurring character in the series case-wise but also its true. anyways . to be honest i seriously need to make some gumshoe content soon because hes my bestest friend for ever and ever and i love him so much. for real one of the most under appreciated characters in the recurring cast both in-universe and fandom-wise - like tbh people only care to make him a backup dancer to what is usually wrightworth (which is like a classic for the fandom favorite ship so whatever but its still so depressing 😔) - but in-universe he is like. so absurdly unappreciated. like everybody is so mean to him all the time and for almost no reason and yet he routinely puts his own neck on the line (quite literally - hes perpetually on the verge of being fired and barely living off of nothing but instant ramen as is) to do the right thing and to help people out. never forget how when phoenix told him that maya was being held hostage he instantly broke all protocol to help phoenix out and got fired for it, but never expressed any sort of genuine regret for doing what he did, or how after the earthquake in turnabout goodbyes he immediately dropped everything to go check up on edgeworth in the detention center (unlike a certain phoenix and maya who literally just left him . on the floor . . .. .) and also this

and like everybody likes to pretend hes an idiot but hes NOT EVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes he is like decidedly mediocre to actively bad sometimes at his job. that being said im dead convinced he would make an incredible handyman and/or straight up engineer - never forget that he built a bug sweeper in elementary school (ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A FUNCTIONING BUG SWEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and also apparently was in charge of reconstructing the bridge in bttt. like. im sorry but hes not stupid. and he is so absurdly selfless and full of love and compassion and i actually love him so much anybody who says anything bad about gumshoe ever die by my blade
