#the only thing that makes me think its posible
Text
I was just listening to suburban legends and, first thing first, what and absolute total banger. I genuinely cannot understand why I did not listen to this song more often. And second, the lyrics are like, really queer-coded.
The one that really called my attention was "1950s gymnasium". Now, if you dont know that, in the 1950s the lavander scare, a process where queer people where maked to be outcast on the society by the goverment, took place. People needed to hide and did not really know who to trust (since the people caught "guilty" were force by torture and manipulation to give names or other queer people), it was really a strugle. She says she is "standing in a 1950s gymnasium" like, trying to survive the scrutiny and navigaiting her life not knowing who to trust about her true self alongside other queer people. All together in one place, practicing not getting caught (and we all now that era was when Taylor was really bad at hiding her alleged relationships with women)
Then, theres the chorus. I didnt come here to make friends, when would you need to clarify that in a straight scenario? Almost never and, based on the lyrics, I dont think thats the case. And then the "you kissed me on a way thats gonna screw me up forever" its really deep if we read it as queer. Taylor queerness was an obstacle to her career, something that should be hidden and secretive because the consecuences of it being know were too catastrofic (like in the 1950s). Her queerness could screw her career and dreams forever, so that kiss (that I think represents her whole relationship with the muse) could screw her up forever, everything she has worked for could go away because of who she was in love with. Yet, when she hold her, it hold her together, so it was worth it.
Now in the second verse, there are (appart from the 1950s lyrics) a few things that caught my attention. First, the fantasy she has about surprising everyone with their mismatched sings, its a fantasy because it cannot happen. Its not posible, that is why it is a fantasy. Second, theres the lyric, "You'd be more than a chapter in my old diaries with the pages ripped out" she says "You'd" as in a way of hoping, like saying: if our love was not something we have to hide you will be more than a than a chapter in my old diaries with the pages ripped out. Now, this thing about ripping of pages of a diary is honestly heartbreaking. She feels so afraid, she needs to hide that much that she even erased any prove of her love from her diaries, one of the most personal things anyone could ever own, were you pour your feeling to yourself and yourself only; she could not even trust her diaries to keep her love secret.
To finish, we have to tie it all to the title: suburban legends. A history that everyones knows yet no one can tell if it is or not true, because there us no proof. It could be real or not, but everyone has heard of it. Taylor saying her and her muse were born to be suburban legends insinuates that the relationships she is singing about was secret, very few people knew that it existed for real (bacause it was not safe) but everyone heard the rumors about it.
Disclaimer: this is just my interpretation and by sharing this I am not saying this is the truth or that Taylor said that to me or something like that. I am just reading and analising the art she putted out there.

Lets talk about soulmate aus:
Okay first, because I've been talking about this a lot with @dinas-bracelet shared dreamscape soulmates.
-Dreams are shared between soulmates, but they are just as trippy and confusing as anyone's dreams are. Sometimes one person gets sucked into another's dream and sees a piece of their world, sometimes its just a shared weird dream vibe. It's very difficult to communicate through them with your soulmate until a tsaheylu has been made before.
-I'm not gonna mention jeytiri too much to leave that shit for Chloe but like, the idea of Neytiri falling asleep just to see kid Jake hiding under the bed and just hiding with him or Jake going to sleep and running around in the forest with Neytiri while she's like "Come on, Sylwanin!" The POSIBILITIES.
-Kinda vibing with locorro for this one. I'd imagine Lo'ak and Spider have bonded before, and growing up together has strengthened their ability to communicate in their dreams. They are well practiced.
-I just like the idea of them meeting every night to compare how hard their days were.
Spider: HELLO SOULMATE, TODAY I WAS TORTURED. DON'T WORRY THO I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE BRAIN DAMAGE AND I BROKE ONLY TWO FINGERS TRYING TO SMASH MY WAY OUT OF MY CELL.
Lo'ak, trying to make him feel better but he's doing a really shit job: I ALMOST GOT EATEN BY A SHARK THING BUT THEN I DIDN'T, TOP THAT.
Spider: STOPPED THEM FROM BURING DOWN A VILLAGE.
Lo'ak: FUCK.
OKAY NEXT soulmarks:
-we talked about the name one, with a soulmark being the soulmates name written on your skin. What makes this one tricky though is that the Na'vi do not have a written language. I like this, because it means the Na'vi would likely have a different type of mark. I think it would be an image of their spirit animal that they would see during their uniltaron on the other persons body. That gives us a TON of possibilities.
-We can have jeytiri where Jake's mark is toruk on Neytiri because he will become Na'vi. This allows them to not know each other and for Jake to be real fucking confused by his soulmark all his life lol.
-BUT FOR LOCORRO, lol. We talked about Lo'ak's mark being just Spider's name. BUT BEAR WITH ME. What makes him different than Jake? If we decide Jake is born destined to be Na'vi why not Spider hmm?
First words your soulmate says to you written on your body:
-this one is just funny for jeytiri skskskks
-BUT ALSO: for spiri
-I imagine them meeting in the lab, and Spider's words are on his arm and it just says "Hi!" in English. I imagine no one is greeting him very much lol. Not in a mean way, they just know he's there and he's never been outside to meet any strangers.
-Kiri's say "Me?" because this clown couldn't fathom he was being addressed.
One of those they feel each others pain aus:
-I feel like this one HAS to be nocorro just for the ultimate pain.
-Kid Spider gets cut on a broken beaker that he knocked off a table and tried to clean up at Hells Gate, and kid Neteyam all of a sudden starts crying and won't stop telling Jake his hand hurts. Jake takes Neteyam over to Norm to ask if he has any suggestions for soulmate injuries for kids (Jake himself never had any when he was young because Neytiri wasn't born yet, same for Neytiri because Jake was in cryosleep for a long ass time). Instead they find Norm stitching up the same hand on Spider.
-Jake is really excited, because it's so rare for someone to find their soulmate so young. He's confused when Neytiri isn't excited, she jsut starts crying. When he asks her why she's like "that human boy is going get hurt a lot, and eventually, he will die. Young. And our son will feel all of it."
-Rip Spider getting kidnapped and Neteyam falling the fuck off his ikran when Spider starts getting tortured
Jake: get up kid we gotta go or we're gonna die
Neteyam: I'M SORRY I FEEL LIKE I'M BEING TORTURED??
-WE CAN GO EITHER WAY, WE CAN HAVE NETEYAM DIE AND SPIDER LYING NEXT TO HIM FEELING IT OR WE CAN HAVE HIM LIVE AND GET SHOT BUT THEY BOTH ARE LIKE, ON THE BRINK FEELING IT.
A very popular one is the one where you can't see colors until you see your soulmate.
-I don't vibe with this one as hard, because it makes me sad that people wouldn't see the beauty of Pandora from the get go! But I find the idea of Jake seeing the bioluminescence but also color for the first time a cool cool vibe.
One of those tattoos that changes color depending on what your soulmate is feeling things.
-Just kinda funny that Spider's soulmate would be like why is this motherfucker sad as shit all time time? Where is my sad ass soulmate??
These next few are not that serious but the ideas have funny implications:
You have a meter of how in-danger your soulmate is.
-JUST THE IDEA OF SPIDER'S SOULMATE STARING AT THE CONSTANT IN DANGER METER THE ENTIRE LIKE SEVERAL MONTHS HE'S WITH THE RECOMS GETS ME.
You feel intense pain in your soul when your soulmate is in life-threatening danger.
-Literally same thing here, it's like, Neteyam probably walking around like "ow ow ow ow" trying to live his daily life in Awa'atlu.
Your soulmate’s current thoughts about you will show up on your skin for a short while.
-This one is hysterical, again, for jeytiri. Na'vi don't have written language tho so there would have to be a different thing for them, but IMAGINE the implications. Jake staring at his arm while the meanest things Neytiri can even think of are just floating around. Neytiri, pissed, as downright vulgar shit appears on her stomach from Jake.

I will rant, I think it just really annoying when something is obvious and you still have to explain it (elriel). I mean it's literally written and implied, if it was only implied I'll understand the 'confusion'. However, thus far the canon is that Elain and Az like each other.
I think we can see that Elain and Az might be a thing since they're first meet each other, a slim might at first. Especially, with Elain being engaged later or were she engaged already at their first meeting? Idk it's been a while since I read it.
But, then bam Elain and Lucien is 'mated' now this is how an author would try to throw off the reader since most probably shipping Elain and Az at this point (I sure did).
Despite Elain having a mate, the fact that Elain and Az like each other remain true. Nothing written or imply indicate Elain interests in Lucien, she doesn't even hate or dislike him like how Feyre and Nesta were portrayed at first toward their mate. Elain couldn't care less about Lucien, not a foundation for a love story at all objectively speaking.
So, the existence of the bonus chapter actually confirmed it for me that elriel is endgame, also
1) its Archeron's sister series, obviously Elain's book is next;
2) they would've kissed if they weren't interrupted;
3) why give Az bonus chapter if he isn't the main character and again since it's Elain's book it is rather clear that means they'll be together, otherwise it won't made sense for us to read about Az's strong feeling, yearning, longing for Elain (not for partner, not for mate, spesifically for Elain) just for him to ended up with someone else.
I've read many other logical reasons that I'm sure antis read and ignored (maybe even this very points I wrote) let's not be bias and be rational for a bit like for the sake of discussion.
My brain simply can't panthom gwynriel with the books we currently have, because at least the elucien have some ground they could work for a love story. Not my favorite, but still there's posibility there if the author choose to. Yes, that means if the author choose to for gwynriel to happen that it will happen because ofc she's the author that's how it works. But, what I'm trying to say is with the books that have been out from this series, bc included, and also hofas. The canon is not changing yet, Elain and Azriel still very much into each other. I won't use any stronger word yet 'cause that what their book will be about. Maybe they're actually in love already somewhere in these book, but we don't know yet since we haven't reading their pov except for the bc that again showing their mutual romantic feelings.
All these mean shit when you're in denial tho. In the end I just can't wait for the next book, in Sarah we trust (some of you really annoying tho, ruining the experience for everyone by being rude and entitled, go write your own book and make it however the fck you like, or just write/read fanfic there are millions thing you could do that is not rude and entitled).
I got carry away, didn't realize it'll be this long...

If we died when we were 11 people would assume I was a shy nervous boy who was socially awkward but excelled in school, who was trying to get his family go to church more often. They would not know that the reason I wanted to go to church was because I thought religion would fix me and remove the "bad thoughts" of me wanting to be a girl. They would not know that I picked that middle school because I wanted to be like my big sister and follow in her footsteps, or how I tried on her school uniform that we both hate because I thought, at least I could be more like her. Unless my brother who caught me wearing her clothes spoke up. But why would he.. wouldnt it be "shameful"... *"Inappropriate"
If I died when I was 15 people would assume I was a strong capable leader, that I might one day join the military. That I enjoyed having my hair cut short, and being in jrotc, and working out in weight lifting classes. Heck some people might think I was a flirt boy who went from one partner to the next... only a hand full will know that a good chunk of my partners broke up with be because we werent manly, they didnt feel like they were dating a boy. They wouldn't know that I joined jrotc because if religion failed to fix me maybe this military related thing would.
If I died when I was 17... people *might* know that I was bigender maybe even that we mainly saw ourselves as a woman if my friends had the confidence to speak the truth I had shared with them, and felt it was ok to tell my parents and family the truth... but it was in 2012 and if my family didnt listen to me...who knows if they would have listened to my friends. They may never know about the dreams I had about a sparkling blue prom dress that glittered like the night sky filled with stars, the way I decided that since it was too late to have that dress... too late to be a girl for a prom the least I could do is be a good date to a friend. They won't know how miserable I was because I smiled to make sure my friends had a good time. How suffocated I felt in a tux.. they might lay my corpse in a simillar suit forever suffocated by the masculinity we were expected to conform to...
If I died at 11, 15, 17.... If I had the courage and the time, I would use the last breaths to speak my truth. But I might not have the courage.... my death might be too swift and all that would be left.. is to hope there is an afterlife.. where our soul was how we felt and not how we looked... and that I could look down and maybe people could see the signs that I hid out of shame, that the few people I knew could say something out of love.
There are many people we may never know the truth about. But if we can't even talk about the posibility... then what hope do they have of being seen. You may say its speculation, its insensitive it's not proper to assume, but people are only put in this position because people already assume that belonging to a binary cisgender concept of assigned gender is the default, is the norm. You assume people wont want to be thought about, people wont want others to find the truth they were too scared to share. There is no moral high ground either way. We can not know, and people mourn in different ways. I'm not saying look into every possible death and try to find the truth of every single soul. But if someone notices signs, is it truly awful to wonder?

Well, honestly, I was having an AU idea since a pair of years buuut I've pretty busy with college stuff that I could only write ideas and some sketches, but now that I'm a bit free and seeing the GF AU proposals that were coming out, I was able to develop better to finally present to you! Well, here it its...
Fleshbag AU!
Tumblr media
"but...what the hell is this about?"
Dipper, in a attempt to stop Weirdmaggedon, makes a deal with Bill to let out his family. But instead it was actually a trap to get rid of him through the memory eraser, a trap that goes totally wrong because the fight between the two entities (Dipper and Bill) cause an Interdimensional Collapse between the three universal planes (Real World, Mindscape and Nightmare Realm). All this the total annihilation of that universe. TOTAL. ANNIHILATION. (jsjs i'm dramatic xd) No mortal survived... except the Henchmaniacs and a being formed (both body and soul) from the remains of Dipper and Bill, called Bips. It retains diffuse memories of thier ancestors but inherited the negative aspects of both, givining them a constant insecurity. All the years go by and after a few years, They meets Axolotl, a powerful extra dimensional deity, watcher of all realities, but at the same time is a relaxed and wise being. Making a lil' deal with Bips, they embark on an edventure to explore different realities, fix thier problems and solve mysteries, in search of a posible cure to restore the Bips's Desolate dimension. As Bips tries to find his identity amidst the "duality" he was formed.
-----------------------> I'm soo sorry it's soo long, I tried to summarize it as best as possible and traslate it (yep, english is not my first language xdd) ^^'
Welp, a final extra things! :D
My main inspiration on aaall this minddump was:
"Hawaii: Part II" from Miracle Musical
The game "The End is Nigh" from Edmund Mcmillen (GOOD *clap* GAME)
....aaand a bunch of surreal stuff that I liked it! (Albums, Internet Stuff and parodies!)
2. idk how can I tell the story, whether to make it into a comic, a fanfic, or just do it with sketches, there maybe I can do something but I really don't want to stress about this, It's a big but caaalm project that I could publish regularly apart from my other stuff. 3. About that, do you think I could make another Tumblr dedicated exclusively to the AU? More than anything to separate the content from my personal (and another fanart sjjs) work. 4. As I said earlier, it will take me time for post due to Language issures, I will try to make it as accurate as possible so you can understand. Any feedback will be very well received! And with that, I also learn apart from Duolingo (A.K.A evil green owl mwehehee) 5. And yeah, any feedback in general will be heard! I would love to read your opinions and all that xdd.
If you read this, thank you for coming to my ted talk ;)
P.S The art is some "concept/key art/ print" thing? Idk how it has the main idea xd

On the note of that last reblogs tags i think we need to stop this trend of taking one part of somebodys story as a representation of the whole story. I think, instead of seeing someones problematic art and saying "oh they must have been a raging racist and a terrible person all the way down" we should take a moment to step back and ask "what happened after?" and even "why did he believe these things? What was the sociopolitical environment he was in? And how did that change when he was confronted with reality?"
Like, lets use dr suess as an example. He was a liberal democrat who opposed war and fascism during a time when anti-war wasnt a popular position at all and antifascism was only popular because it was the ideology of america's war enemy. And he supported japanese internment and drew some pretty racist cartoons. I completely understand why the second thing is bad, don't take me for an idiot or a defender of such actions, and im not saying you have to forgive that wholeheartedly and koombaya with him in whatever the afterlife is if you believe in that stuff, but I am saying that it's disingenuous to act like that was where his story ended regarding his racial views.
If you ask yourself why an anti-war, antifascist liberal democrat would be racist, you get a few answers: maybe he was an asshole, or maybe something about his sociopolitical environment was causing him to believe that racism was compatible with his political views. Either way doesnt change the outcome of said racism, but the latter posibility can be reached and changed if it's handled right, which is worth pursuing.
If you dig a little deeper into the why of his particular case, you'll find this quote: "But right now, when the Japs are planting their hatchets in our skulls, it seems like a hell of a time for us to smile and warble: "Brothers!" It is a rather flabby battle cry. If we want to win, we've got to kill Japs, whether it depresses John Haynes Holmes or not. We can get palsy-walsy afterward with those that are left."
Awful thing to say about an entire race of people. Makes you a bit sick to your stomach, doesn't it? But if you step back from your initial emotional response and peel back the layers here, you'll find that underneath the racism and prejudice, of which im not denying there is, he's basically saying "I think there is a direct enemy of freedom and liberty that needs to be squashed in order to protect others." Whether or not he was right or wrong doesn't change that that was what he thought and believed, which is a pretty liberal democrat position (even before the party switch) misdirected to an entire group of people whom their place in the war was not the fault of their race.
Dr suess was the type of racist who can be reached. It actually doesn't take a lot to do the reaching itself, the main work comes from whether or not the person is willing to accept that they were wrong and put in the effort to change their ways. Which, if you just end at that terribly disgusting thing he said about Japanese people, you don't see how he actually felt and acted at the end.
Do more digging and you'll find that when the war ended, he was confronted with the realities of japanese internment and how he once cried support for such a terrible practice. These people arent nazis by birth, they're just people being generalized with the actions of their government. Many were born and raised multi generation american citizens being treated like war criminals in their own home when they had nothing to do with the nazis overseas. (Sound a bit familiar regarding the social treatment of individual russians these days? That's a post for another day though)
Dr suess wasnt stupid, its also disingenuous to act like prejudice is a failure of intellect. He was a real smart guy, and after being yanked out of his bubble he completely overhauled his views and disavowed his previous statements and racism. And you also have to remember that he wasnt a politician, he was a childrens book author who did the occasional political cartoon. His power over these systems one way or another was always pretty minimal, but he did do what he could in his position: he wrote another book basically saying "I was wrong, and I'm deeply sorry. I see why I was wrong now" which was Horton Hears A Who. The one with the famous "A person's a person, no matter how small" line that was about remembering the humanity of those you're too disconnected or different from to see right away.
If you think thats too little too late, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but at least hold that opinion after knowing the whole story. And maybe don't end the judgement of people, especially historical figures, conveniently where the most rage bait can come from. Like I said, I'm not saying you have to love him and forgive everything he ever did just because he realized he was wrong and changed his ways, but I am saying that if you're going to judge somebody, you do in fact have to judge their whole character and not just the cherry pick the parts that make for the most outrage. Framing someone like dr suess as a full stop racist just isnt accurate unless you're talking about a very specific timeframe in his life. It's more complicated than that, regardless of how you feel about the racism itself, which isn't my place to tell you how to feel about.

The Death of Jason Todd is such a weird moment, and for me makes the birth of Tim kinda all the more special
basically the 1980s you see the birth of the adult comic fan, the late 1970s and early 80s sees comics geared at high school and college age guys, the X-men in 1975 for Marvel and the New Teen Titans in 1980 for DC.
Come 1986-87 you have the adult fans, and for Batman two works by Frank Miller, 1987's Batman: Year One and 1986's The Dark Knight Returns, both project a grim serious "for adults" NOT FOR KIDS! Batman who in both cases does not have a Robin (well DKR kinda does but we'll get there) most importantly DKR is presented as the future of DC comics as having taken place in the main timeline and were we're going. And Batman's shift to a darker more serious more adult character is set off by... the death of Jason Todd.
So you have a camp of comic fans, particularly Batman, fans who wanted to be taken seriously as adults and not have their thing their hobby characterized as "for children" you also have fans, who feel like there should have only ever been one Robin, Dick Grayson. Remember Grayson was a main character in the wildly hugely to this day biggest selling ever New Teen Titans. Till Crisis in 1986 Jason Todd had the same word for word origin story as Dick, he was also a Circus kid, his family was the "Flying Todds" who fell to their deaths. it's not till 1987, only about a year before his death he's given his own famous tire stealing origin story (and black hair...)
Any ways its unclear to this day if fans really did vote to kill him, since there's always been a rumor one person set up an automated system to repeat call the line to kill him, the final difference between kill and not was 72 votes.
However I think in so many ways that makes Tim special because the writers saw what the fans did, saw that neckbeard rotten comic fan boy rage about wanting their adult grown up grim gritty solo Batman and said "no you are wrong, Batman needs a Robin" it's not just Tim saying that to Bruce it's the creators saying it to the fans.
okay this is gonna sound a bit weird but bear with me anon, if u ever like, want to expand on this u should write a post and send me the link so i can rb it cause i think its such an interesting read and it opens up so many posible discussions and people wont be able to talk to u if ur an anon! people including me btw
that being said, it is interesting that the writers doubled down on tim after killing jason, knowing the writers hated jason! at least as far as i know, my sources are as unbiased as any dc fans so... probably biased
i think the person who originally wrote tim did indeed believe furiously that robin did not make the comic immature, he gave depth, but tim was always a... more serious robin, the quirky dialogue was cut a lot, imo, which im not complaining about, i do like the more serious batman tone, but its so fascinating to know why that shift probably came to happen
lastly i may be a dreamer but i chose to believe the poll was not manipulated, if only because of the fact that i would probably have voted to kill him off, and dont get me wrong, i love kid jason, but as a reader, wouldnt u wanna know what would happen, what it would do to bruce who was trying so hard? to dick who never trued as hard as he could? would there be another robin? how can u say no to that

MORE OBEY ME HEADCANONS OF MINE

Lucifer enjoys raisin bran
Lucifer dies his white hairs black, my defense is that if you check the cards in some of them he has grey hairs and in others he doesnt. Thats it, thats my evidence
While imagining that belphie and levi's hairstyles is fun i also like to think that they dye their hair blue/purple-ish
Lucifer, levi and belphie once encountered eachother at a dye store and the embarrasment of luci went through the roof
Diavolo might have parental issues idk you guys but in my expirience if you simp or at most find lucifer good looking you might have daddy issues
I cant help but find weird the posibility that lilith knew diavolo, like im sure she did knew him but its still so random and my brain cant connect it 🤔🤔
Beel is homie with the bugs, doesnt matter which he is friends with them. Everyone in HoL has come to an agreement that, in order to not upset the boy, they all try their best to get the bug out of the house alive or if they're to scared then they'll just call beel
Asmo usually calls beel over to get any bug that scares him outside
Lucifer secretly loves animated movies but will never admit it, its the avatar of pride guys you think he's gonna get excited or emotional during movies like UP or Tangled? Naww... maybe if you two are close enough but still
Satan, belphie and Mammon unironically love badly done movies, it doesnt matter the genre it was meant to be, a badly done bee horror movie will have them wheezing of laughter for the entire film. Its so bad for them its good.
Beel fears those badly done 80s movied where the food comes to life and tries to kill the protagonists. As im writing this i've realized he would eat them anyways and would most likely end up becoming the possesed or zombie dude that ate the deadly food...
Did i already said the Satan was a bottom?
Speaking of blondie i am convinced he had a HEAVY emo phase when he was a teen where he would die his hair neon green and basically just multiply our emos per a thousand.
Lucifer unironically adored Satan's emo clothes (i also like to think he likes goth and emo clothing but sometimes the style looks so ridiculous he would never admit it) yet he would play along on not liking it to make teen satan happy. The only thing that bothered him was the hair.
Thats all i can think about, sorry you had to read this :/

What is the most historically accurate film of Sisi you have seen?
Can you rank all of them you have seen from most historically accurate to least?
what one is your favorite?
thank you!
Hello! One of my major goals (?) on this blog is to make an Ultimate Tier List of Sisi Adaptations, but I still haven't been able to. But here is an overview of the media that I've watched so far, ranked for most "accurate" to the least:
Sisi (2009): By far the most historically accurate Sisi portrayal that exists. I've already talked about it a bit the other day, but this mini series covers from Elisabeth's engagement until her coronation as Queen of Hungary, and includes important events such as her daughter's death in 1857, the Italian War of 1859, Elisabeth's illness and departure to Madeira, the abuse her son Rudolf suffered in hands of his tutor and her intervention to stop it, among other things. We even get as a side plot her brother-in-law Maximilian and his ill-fated adventure. It is clear that the writers knew the history they were adapting, and put care in having as much historical moments as posible. Which incidentally is also the series biggest weakness: it's too short for the amount of events it covers. The pacing is too rushed and many of the story lines are not properly developed. It is not entirely accurate either: the writers couldn't (or didn't want to) get away of the romantic myth and put great emphasis in Elisabeth's marriage as a great love story (weirdly this didn't stop them from romanticizing her friendship with Andrássy either). I pity that this wasn't a full series because it had the potential to be a great show.
Elisabeth das musical (1992-): my favorite piece of media about Elisabeth ever. I also already talked about it but for a musical whose argument is that the assassin of Empress Elisabeth is trapped in a loop in the afterlife in which he forever must tell her story while he's judged for his crime this is a surprisingly accurate and nuanced take of her life. While a bit outdated now (the idea that archduchess Sophie was an evil mother-in-law or that Sisi and her father had a close relationship have been disproved for a while, for example), I think this musical actually got her personality, or better, it got that we can't truly know her: she was a complex person, she was full of contradictions, she was human.
Sissi Trilogy (1955-1957): a classic is a classic. A heavily romanticized take on the early life of the empress, these movies are not particularly accurate, but they're fun to watch nonetheless (except the third one. The third one is a bad movie, fight me)
Sisi (2021-): I'm weirdly fond of this show, I'm sorry. Like I know that objectively is a very trashy, poorly written attempt at a historical drama, and yet I can't help but finding it fun to watch. And for all its flaws (which are PLENTY, and I complained a lot about them here), at least it tried to do something different with some of the characters. I vaguely remember someone saying that RTL is like the CW of Germany, so following the comparison I would say that this show is kinda like Reign: a hot mess that you either love to hate, or you learn to love with time.
The Empress (2022-): my deep dislikeness for this show is no secret to my followers. In fact I owe them a review, which I begun but never finished, because every time I enter the doc I'm reminded of how much of a disappointment this series was for me, and I don't want to keep writing (I will eventually I promise it). This series has all the problems of the 2021 Sisi series and none of its redeming qualities. If you go through my livebloging tag you'll find what I disliked, but to put it short: this series is so disconnected of reality that can't be enjoyed as a historical drama, but it is so poorly written that can't be enjoyed as a piece of fiction either. It's just not fun to watch at all.
The King Steps Out (1936): The only time in history that the USA attempted to make a Sisi movie, and yes it ranks even lower than The Empress that's how inaccurate this is. This was an adaptation of an operetta (that would end up being the basis for the first Sissi movie), and other than "emperor is expected to marry his cousin but end ups falling for her sister instead" the story has nothing to do with history. I also just didn't like this movie at all.
Not Sisi Media But Features Sisi As A Character:
Ludwig II (2012): I LOVE Hannah Herzsprung's Elisabeth. She gave us a Sisi we never saw before: the friend. She is Ludwig's friend and wants the best for him but this doesn't stop her from criticizing him; she loves him but also loves her little sister and is FURIOUS when Ludwig dumps Sophie. To me this is one of the most loving takes of her that exists, and for that I adore it.
Ludwig (1973): THE BEST enigmatic and mature Elisabeth, period. Romy is sublime, every one of her scene feels like a master class in acting. I don't rank her over Hannah's Elisabeth because I don't like much the plot they gave her (they turned her friendship with Ludwig into a sort-of-romance and she also mistreats Sophie), but in terms of acting this is by far the best performance.
Mayerling (1936): Elisabeth appears only for one scene played by a woman that looks nothing like her only to give love advice (???) to Mary Vetsera and then leaves. An absolutely boring and forgettable portrayal, I don't know why they even bothered including her (also fyi this movie is bad).
Ludwig II (1955): literally who is this woman. She's Elisabeth in name only, they stripped away everything that made her interesting and turned her into a cardboard cutout romantic interest for Ludwig II (who's straight here LOL). Worst Elisabeth that I've seen so far hands down (btw this movie is also bad minus some scenes).
Special Mention:
L'aigle à deux têtes (1948): This isn't a Sisi movie nor features Sisi at all, but the character of the Queen is clearly inspired in Elisabeth. Here we follow the widow Queen of a fictional kingdom and an anarchist that attempts to kill her but ends up being protected by her. It's the adaptation of a play and it shows: the action happens in closed spaces and it's made up mostly of dialogues. It is a psychological movie (and also an enemies to lovers romance lol), and it may be boring for some since it's mainly just characters talking, but personally I loved it.

I have always seen both Guts and Griffith as misogynistic, mostly because of their relationship and treatment with Casca. But recently I had a conversation with a friend who just read the golden age arc and they didn’t agree entirely at least on Griffith being misogynistic.
They made me give it a think… I told them that for me the eclipse r*pe scene was unnecessarily explicit, wrong framed, and could have been replaced with anything else. And even if they agreed on the first takes, they confessed me that “the r*pe scene was the perfect and most bizarre posible ending for the eclipse.” And the argument was that, because Griffith had suffered sexual abuse (first Genon and then his torturer), maybe that was his picture of the cruelest thing one could do to another, so he decided to act that way with someone Guts loved because he wanted to hurt him, as if saying “I’ll show you how cruel can I be.” As a response to Guts ambiguous answer when Griffith asked him if he thought of him as a bad person.
I’d like to know your thoughts on this 😩
I'm torn on this tbh.
Like, Femto raping Casca to prove how cruel he has the capacity to be does make sense to me as a reading because the "do you think I'm cruel" scene was very prominent and the lead up to the sacrifice called back to it, and the sacrifice was framed in part as Griffith embracing his capacity to be a monster.
But something I often say about the Eclipse rape is that it feels very thematically appropriate pretty much solely because so much of Berserk revolves around rape. But the actual depiction in the scene itself doesn't capitalize on any of those already-existing story threads. Guts doesn't indicate any personal fear or reminders of his own trauma, we're not given Casca's perspective at all so all we get from her end is that she has an orgasm and feels bad about it on Guts' behalf, aka classic cuckold kink, and Femto also gives us nothing except a suggestive stare.
Now thematically I do think it's appropriate that Femto's defining act is rape, and if it had been depicted differently, and the story given a different focus (other than, yk, Guts' manpain and emasculation thru Casca's orgasm, and Casca's removal from the story, and Griffith's narrative never referring to it again lol) I think it could've worked as a cumulation of the Golden Age, especially as a reflection of Guts' own rape trauma, because Guts' trauma is essentially the thematic tie between rape and monsers.
Guts is driven to fight monsters because of his rape trauma. The original fear that drives Guts and which is reflected in subsequent confrontations with monsters is Donovan. And this also works from Casca's and Griffith's perspectives as well, thanks to being strongly and more bluntly established through Guts - with Griffith we have Gennon and the torturer, and with Casca we have the nobleman and Adon.
So it does make thematic sense to demonstrate Femto's monstrosity through rape specifically, and yeah Griffith's own experiences could also be extrapolated to inform his decision from a character perspective, ie it's also his experience with "monsters."
But again, it's so badly done lol, it completely drops all those balls as far as I'm concerned, just absolutely trips over its own feet at the finish line. Plus if that was meant to be Griffith/Femto’s motivation, you’d think his past victimization wouldn’t be so glossed over compared to Guts’ and Casca’s and random villagers’ sexual victimization. Griffith’s rape trauma is only ever implied, and while I think it’s implied effectively in a way that informs much of his character, if you’re going to make it his motivation for the defining act of villainy in the story, it’s a little weak lol.
And I don't think it's necessary. It fits, but rape isn't the only thing that defines a monster in Berserk. Literal Berserk monsters have bloodlust, they're prejudiced, they're vengeful, they treat humans as commodities in ways other than sexual, they corrupt others, etc. Figurative human monsters usually default to rape, but you also have sheer power in Boscogne, lashing out in defense of privilege in Julius, revenge in the queen, revenge/blind bloodlust in Guts... like, there are options that would’ve also been thematically resonant imo.
Part of the problem with using rape here as well is that as the story continues it becomes a whole lot less prominent as a theme lol, and it ends up sticking out like a sore thumb. Like, even if it theoretically works as a cap to the Golden Age, does it still work as the origin story of the much tamer Millenium Falcon arc?
Oh also for the record wrt Guts and Griffith being misogynistic, I agree with you. I think they both are sexist to some degree, purposefully so - Guts has his chauvinistic remarks to Casca in the early Golden Age, Griffith has his ordering Casca to warm Guts - and accidentally as a result of the author’s own biases, most likely - eg Guts grabbing Casca’s tit to halt an argument in a cutesy scene after they fuck, Griffith’s bodice-ripper-y sex scene with Charlotte. I’m not sure where either assault scene falls here, whether they’re intended to be purposeful expressions of the characters’ misogyny or just dark and violent and disturbing but ultimately unrelated to sexism from a character standpoint, but yeah they’re not great either lol, and if you take them seriously rather than dismissing them as bad writing they’re pretty dark reflections of the characters.
Anyway yeah, that’s some of my thoughts on it at least. Thanks for the ask!

That whole school setting plus "non conformity" plus monsters/demons that represent psychological stuff just sounds like persona - so totally derivative, idk maybe there will be a twist that will make me eat my words but it seems a certain part of the manga/anime industry is stuck in a small bubble of posibilities...
Just about every entertainment industry ends up in these dead-ends.
For me personally, it doesn't change how much I enjoy the work.
Mashle is yet another comedic fighting anime. Yet, it is hilarious. (It just out-Gintama'ed Gintama at making fun of Fullmetal Alchemist.)
Blue Exorcist has been spinning its wheels in massive fight of students against supernatural forces. And yet, I want to see how this ends, because the fight has gotten that massive.
Laid-Back Camp is comfort food--it doesn't have to be the next brand new thing, it just has to be competently done and entertaining and fun and maybe even informative.
Heck, go outside of anime and manga: I personally think The Owl House and Amphibia can be derivative in parts--but they are still good, because they mixed and matched their influences (Soul Eater, witch stories, funny animals, sword and sorcery), were sincere in what message they wanted to communicate, had visual flair and an easily recognizable (if still derivative) visual style, and remain iconic, if just for breaking ground or at least putting a chip into it, especially in TV geared largely for children (wlw couples, nonbinary characters, gore).
And even when you try to move beyond what is derivative, or cliche, or commonplace, and try for something subversive or a deconstruction, that also can become old hat: Fire Force wanted a big twist, but after Madoka Magica, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, Undead Unluck, and obviously Evangelion, it's hard to stand out.
It depends on style, message, and tone. If it's not a memorable style, who is going to remember it or enjoy it? If the message is empty, that is worse than if it was cliche or without sincerity. If the tone isn't clear, how will it impact the reader?
About the only recent work that strikes me as not being derivative is Spy x Family--and even that story is starting to repeat itself and its gags a bit too much.
(Meanwhile, Studio BONES is coming out with an anime whose plot is "two women are bounty hunters who may or may not be in the Cowboy Bebop universe, with Blade Runner techno-noir, with a Bebop-esque melancholic soundtrack, and mech designs by the person who did Patlabor"--and that is such a mish-mash of elements I could call "derivative" but which, from just a trailer, looks more interesting than other content.)

Im sure someone has already pointed this out, but I am hyperfixated on this show and like a hundred percent sure that the Clawthorne family is a direct descendant from Caleb Wittebane and the witch he fell in love with + why i think flapjack was not Caleb’s.
Hear me out.
Tumblr media
We have only seen Caleb's wife on the background paintings in Hollow Mind. Her clothing and poofy hairstyle reminds us of someone we already know: Gwendolin Clawthorne, aka Eda’s mom, like look at them. This dress design also stays on the series via Eda, all the dresses she’s wore so far have had this pointy/ripped style.
Tumblr media
On her debut episode, Gwen also talks about how her ancestors met a human once, who im pretty certain was Philip and Caleb! Now into the more picky stuff.
The only way besides the paintings on Belo’s mind we can know how Caleb looked like most accurately is through Hunter. As Philip said, he is the one who looked most like him. Through him we can clearly see the resemblance between the hairlines and the little patch of different hair color they all have have.
Tumblr media
Now into the palisman stuff.  For this I have two posible outcomes:
Number 1. Flapjack was not Caleb’s, but his wife’s. Why? Cause why would Caleb Wittebane, a human that just came into the Boiling Isles get to own a bird palisman, when we have Wifebane and the quote “Birds are a Clawthorne thing.”
Number 2. Flapjack WAS Caleb’s, who he and his wife carved together, and Wifebane’s palisman was another one that was passed through generations... yes, Im talking about Dell’s palisman. Flapjack and his just look like they were made to be a set, and it would make sense that Wifebane’s palisman ended up as a family tradition, since we can see how worn off it is!
Tumblr media
Also idk it just gives me cool wife energy so now its hers.
Thats all ty for comming to my ted talk if you’ve read everything be sure to check out my art lol!!

novito it really is. That Bad. like the city is named terremoto 😭😭😭 hablando más en serio realmente está sumamente encausada en estereotipos but it doesn't really work because it uses ALL latinoamerican cultures; pretending latam is just A Conglomerate of One culture is harmful for the representation of the community, and it does not only missrepresent but reproduce annoying stereotypes. the problem is honestly a lack of self awareness and the reiteration of latam as Just One Culture instead of a sea of very unique and interesting cultures. it's really annoying that with the resources and posibilities disney has, theyve settled for such a missrepresentative and honestly lazy product <- opinion as latino from there yknow . like i dont doubt some of the Magnitude of the response from twitter is from itbeign twitter but it Is really bad . Also sowrry for the bible and feel free to not respond or post LMAO
Tumblr media
thank you for your perspective nunkito. OH fuck i forgot about the terremoto thing yeah that's bad. i do agree with the conglomeration thing FOR SURE thats what always annoys me about latino rep in general. i also forgot to mention that people compared this concept to the casagrandes/loud house which, to be fair, that show doesn't have a monopoly on large families but in general i understand that people are tired of seeing similar stories like that where latino = huge family and want more diversity in represented latino families to AVOID those stereotypes. it definitely presents a specific idea of what we are to non-latino people which really sucks if you dont fit into that from all angles. the lack of cultural specificity is always an issue with these projects and in the us i still think the common generalization is latino = mexican which is telling and why we NEED those cultural distinctions i do agree.
the product itself im not super offended by but the greater process behind it is a huge issue i wish the social media outrage articulated more because on its own it just looks like a hate mob. but nuance doesnt exist and neither does tone on the internet :/ which sucks.
also the fact that there doesnt seem to be many latino voices BEHIND the project to LEND that specificity and cultural awareness for a specific nationality/culture to be represented is really unfortunate and that's what a lot of people were at least implying too. im a bit on the fence because on one hand why are we trusting DISNEY with presenting accurate rep but at the same time they gave incredible projects like encanto coco and the owl house so how do we make sure we get people who know wtf theyre talking about to lead and produce these projects and infiltrate the anglo ass system. its just............. rghghghghghhhhh. its not like im completely ecstatic that it exists but im also more miffed that the energy is going so strongly to this over literally anything else going on affecting us. maybe thats also algorithmic bias bringing that outrage to me though.. life is hell.

So, how does the portal door work?
since the ending of kings tide let's the hexsquad trapped in the human realm we know they have to go back to the boiling isles, the thing is that we don't know how, specially since most of the ingridients for the portal door are exclusive to the boiling isles (titans blood etc.)
BUT even in yesterday's lie when luz tried to recreate the portal it still didn't work properly even though she stated that she followed all the steps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now bear with me, also at the end of kings tide we get a cool easter egg:
Tumblr media
It's really not a surprise that amphibia and toh are connected, yes its amazing that we get confirmation of it but the shows have always been seen as sister shows, not only on their plot points but the way disney promotes them, also if you like the owl house you watch amphibia and if you like amphibia you watch the owl house (in most cases ofc)
Since this shows are connected and happening roughly at the same time it's seems only fair that we apply the rules of multiverses equally with these shows. Yes I know, in the end they are different shows, but in the grand scheme there could be answers the owl house gives us that help with amphibias multiverse lore and viceversa (but this is pure speculation none of the creators have said anything so take this as a grain of salt yadayadayada something about just a theory...)
Tumblr media
In amphibia we see that there's 6 known realms, amphibia at the center, earth and a very similar looking boiling isles.
To make a portal door connecting two realms I think it's only fair that you have to use not only ingridients of the realm you want to travel to, but also ingridients of the real you want to part from, in this case the human realm to the boiling isles. This would successfully create a connection to be able to travel all the time between those two realms.
We never saw that the og door could show another realm aside from the human one, eda never mentioned it or never really cared to check. It could be posible that was the reason luz couldn't go trough the portal the first time cause it didn't have a connection to anywhere, we didnt see it but it could be posible that if you knew how to word it you could see other realms, luz didn't saw any of it cause she doesn't know.
So then why was Belos able to create a portal? Simple, he rebuiltit from the same parts it came from, some of those parts could have both human and witch origin.
Tumblr media
So the hexsquad's next task would probably be to find the rest of the recipe to create a portal, personally I don't think we'll get to use a portal next time, I think we will have another way to go back to the boiling isles but if luz wants to be able to travel back and forth between her homes then she'll have to create a new door.
When it comes to amphibia we saw there was a diety that was in a certain way attached to the gems and allowed interdimensional travel without limits, maybe we'll see something like that helping our cast.
Also it's cool to think that you could make a door from earth to amphibia or from amphibia to the boiling isles, i love me a crossover.

Please explain you're lear hcs if you can. Mostly because they're very cool and also help me flesh him out more (bc sadly I can't get him pre PML arc character development so it's mostly him suffering and accepting yes he does have friends and yes he cares about them a lot whdgs
WELL SINCE YOU ASKED!! :D
Putting it under a read more because it's a bit long.
-Let's start with the paper stars, since it's the one we were talking about and also because AHHHHHHHHHHHHH-. Kat (chaoticfandomcat) was the one who brought up the idea after I finished and posted the comic "The Stars that Make this Island" (In a very bad timing since I almost cried in class SKALHDUWLHE but I guess its also my fault for checking my phone at that time...)
Lear's mother is the one who shows him how to make these little Lucky paper stars. I've made some research and what I've found about the lucky stars is that they give the person who makes them luck, and even more if they give them away to someone else (something like, they share their luck and, by doing so, the get more too). I've also found about the story behind them and how a little kid started making them to save the stars that were dying in the night sky. Supposedly, making a hundred and giving them to someone is a nice gift. By giving a hundred to someone that someone can make a wish.
Something like... when Lear's mother fell ill Lear tried to make a hundred to make a wish and save her, but wasn't able to make it and, well...
The guy is a perfectionist, so he tries to make every single star perfect (is not as easy as it looks, I've tried believe me). There's a jar somewhere in his room in Pasio with filled with some stars and there's also little paper stars scattered all over the place. He doesn't think he needs a wish anymore (and has found out that he wouldn't be the one making it anyways), but he still makes the stars as a way to relax (though he keeps tossing stars around when they are not perfect).
I also made some art over this. Something with my fan desing for his mother, Bettie and Scottie (there's also one with Cheren, but I'll leave the shippy ones out of this one).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Adding to this, another thing that came up was the room. Like, you will know is a comfort place where is mostly only him that enters there because... it's messy. The stars, the bed covers, there are papers everywhere and pillows too. He does clean up tho, it's just... he pays more attention to the outher looks rather than the inner ones. You have all of Pasio as an example, the Battle Villa as well. Only Sawyer, Rachel and his pokemon enter his room besides himself (the first two very rarely, out of respect mostly).
-He still has the need to let out the mean sometimes. So don't be surprised to hear him calling people names. It's more because he is used to it too, so, if he isn't angry and one slips out, he will apologize quickly before correcting himself.
-Rachel and Sawyer still get into little fight over who Lear loves the most. If he ever catches them in these he will go "...I just care about you both equally what the hell are you even disscusing about."
Both of them will start with their ugly crying and "MASTER LEAAAAA-"
Lear will try to forget he ever said a thing.
-He gets easily flustered. This one came up because of that one part where the people were cheering on him as he went to have his battle with MC and co. Genuine, nice compliments just get him tamato-red.
-Very extra. I'm sure the moment he gets completly out of his shell any acts for his friends will be over-the-top, dramatic and maybe a bit too much. Most of them would have fun and enjoy being around him anyways I think.
-He still hates hats, caps specially. Though there's two hats he doesn't hate in all of Pasio, and they are caps lol.
-He owns a short old book with information about Unbound Hoopa. He is interested in it and is most likely because he is still looking for a way to become stronger. But he also knows he needs to be carefull, as he knows the posible dangers of trying to get the Prison Bottle, let alone have it in his grasp, and is aware that Hoopa is wary of this form.
Tumblr media
-Actually softest, kindest guy around. Will be moments where that side comes out and then it goes back to his stunderism™ GSAHJDFGTYAWUEGA.
As a last point (and it's not a headcanon), I actually have a small playlist done for when I'm writting or drawing about him [ this one ]... idk felt like I could share it!
Is what I have for now, maybe I'll add more to this later on!

Can we just say that like…
Its perfectly ok to be scared of animals? Like any animal?
Ok maybe get it together somewhat around dogs because of police procedures and stuff, but you can like ask your friend not to bring their dogs over when they visit you.
Idk I see a lot of pet owners (exotic pet owners especially) trying to “break stereotypes” that are aplicable in every situation eccept their own. Like you really shouldnt be mad at people for being scared of spiders, they probably should be. Same thing with rats and racoons, and dont even get me started on wolves, foxes and wild cats.
Like 9 times out of 10 you most likely should stay away from any animal you dont know.
I LOVE animals, and I actually feel like you only genuenly love animals when you can understand that they ARE ANIMALS weather you like it or not. A Pitbull even if its a sweetheart can get scared and hurt somebody by accident. So like make sure to have some sefety prep cause the dog will also suffer the consequences of an owners negligence. And a wild mouse can get you infected no matter how cute it is, so just have some humane traps and take them far away, they probably dont want to be your pets anyway.
And like, in general, dont gaslight people about their animal related trauma. Just fucking dont. I see this with dog owners especially, like peoples trauma dosent stop existing because your pet in nice to you. Even if it wont hurt anyone, theres never a reason to trigger people if you know you can avoid the situation. (On just like the street thats their problem, but if you are aware beforehand take some action if posible)
And I do think fear of animals can lead to very big issues. Shark hunting for example. But theres still very good reasons to be scared of sharks. (The statistic about the cows is ALWAYS taken out of context. Please dont cite it to me, its irrelevant to my point) But this should end in, “no dont kill inocent animals just minding their buisness for no real reason, but yhea dont go swim there if you think theres a risk.”
Like idk this came to me because on instagram a video showed up on my feed of some snake pet owner being genuenly mad that people are in general afraid of snakes, but I like deadass know a little kid that almost just died from a snake bite two weeks ago. If youre not handling domestic ones on a dayly basis, being scared of wild animals is generally a very good idea.
Fear dosent have to mean hatred or violence, it can just be knowing to leave them alone. I got attacked by geese as a kid and you will actually have to kill me before I go anywhere near one now, and people keep telling me I need to “get over it” like Im going to have a goose as a rome mate. Like no. Fuck that. I have no intention of fighting off those fuckers again, and thats fine. Its literally perfectly fine.
Not every opinion you dont like is some societal fearmongering lie. Sometimes nasty things are true.
