Stardew Valley Bachelors Cuddling Headcanons

Harvey

Harvey is one of those people who only lay in bed when he is ready to go to sleep, so cuddling is usually a pre-sleep activity, an added treat at the end of his long day

I think he likes being both the little and big spoon, but prefers being held just a liiiitle bit more

He likes to lay with you after a shower, a shave and his teeth are brushed, because once he lays down with you.... only the shrill sound of his alarm going off in the morning will be enough to get him back up

Harvey is one of those people who hate a rushed routine and take punctuality very seriously

But because waking up in your arms just feels too darn good sometimes, he sets an alarm a little earlier than his usual one, just so he can be awake enough to enjoy the first minutes of the morning being held by you

Shane

I believe Shane likes to be horizontal more than he likes to be vertical on a good day, anyway

But after you? Oh boy

There is no feeling like coming home and being able to sink into the mattress, his body heavy with the weight of the day

And now on top of that he then gets to have the person he loves laying on his chest? Tracing his skin with your fingers absentmindedly? Massaging his scalp with the pads on your fingers?

It’s his favorite thing in the world, actually

He'll cling on to you especially tight after a rough day, only reluctantly letting you go if you absolutely must

Sam

Although Sam loves it when it’s just you and him and his bed in your own little world, this man cannot sit still for too long

If you’re just laying together and talking, he needs to be playing with your fingers, with your hair, playfully biting your arm, a tickle attack or two

He also likes to lay on you. Like, fully - body completely on top of yours as he scrolls on his phone or rambles about something while you run your hands through his blond hair

Maybe he has too much energy, or maybe it's the ADHD I headcanon him to have, or maybe he's just really excited to finally get some alone time with you

… Sam just wants to be all over you, all at once

Unless he’s super exhausted or it’s before going to sleep, cuddling with Sam is not usually a bonding relaxing experience, but rather bonding over a playful one

Sebastian

Because of how he is and how he prefers to show and receive affection, Sebastian has always been kind of touch-starved, tbh

Especially in the beginning of the relationship

I think it’s no secret that he isn’t a very touchy person in general, but...

Sebastian liked cuddling a lot more than he was willing to admit or ask for at first

But back when you two first started dating, you would waste days away in his bed, talking about nothing and everything for hours, sleeping together, playing together, getting high, having sex, repeat

Just… you and him and him and you in your own world, limbs comfortably tangled with each other

Especially during the winter when you didn’t have as much farm work, you two would only pull away from each other for bare necessities

After you’re married and he’s moved in, he likes that the bed is bigger and sometimes you two can lay together and do your own thing in your own space

But in the end he’ll always gravitate back towards you

Elliot

Cuddling with Elliot is peaceful

His voice takes on another melody when it’s just you and him in the comfort of his bed

The lights are dim but bright enough so that he can softly read you to sleep

He plays with your hair, his touches soft and gentle along the exposed skin of your arms

And he smells so good, and it's all around you as you lay in the comfort of his arms

Elliot likes it when you’re draped on him and he gets to wrap his arms around you and envelop you fully

Any position that allows him to be so close to you is his favorite

It’s…. safe. And Elliot likes safe

Alex

I firmly believe Alex prefers being the little spoon the majority of the time

Sometimes muscly jocks just want to be held, you know?

He likes to feel your body pressed against his from behind, and he’ll pull on your arms, tightening them around him, as if he’s letting you know how much he doesn’t want you to let go quite yet

He'll kiss the top of your hair, then bury his face on your neck and place kisses there too, sometimes innocent, sometimes not

Although not as bad as Sam, Alex doesn’t like to sit still for too long, either, so cuddling sessions are either before bed or a brief but welcome break during the day

Love in Nevada ✰ Jack Hughes

I suck at summary’s but here is a Jack blurb from my drafts, happy reading!

Being forced to listen to Dylan's awful music taste, Mark poking you time and time again because he's bored, Luke's snoring and Ethan constantly fidgeting in his seat cause as he claims 'can't get comfortable' is starting to drive you absolutely crazy. "Can someone please explain to me again why we decided to drive to freaking Nevada?" The question comes out angrier then intended and you should probably feel bad for snapping at your best friends but spending the last 32 hours in a car together is starting to become claustrophobic. "It was all Luke's idea!" Mark shouts throwing an accusing finger towards the boy sitting in the passenger seat. Luke narrows his eyes at the tall boy beside you. "It was all of us Estapa! See it as group bonding or whatever." Dylan rolls his eyes at all of us not moving his gaze from the road.

"Group bonding? We live together. I say we bond all the time. I've seen Marky in his birth-suit more times than I would like." Everyone starts laughing at your response except for Mark whose cheeks are currently the same shade of red as a fire truck. "You should really start locking the door when you shower." Ethan teases reaching over you to poke Mark in the stomach. Mark grumbles to himself swatting at Ethan's hand in retaliation.

Hugging the sweatshirt closer, you rest your head on Marks shoulder. Deciding to sit on the floor was not the most comfortable but when there is 10 people in one house there won't be seats for everyone on two couches. Agreeing to play board games with 9 competitive hockey players, that was your second error of the night.

Trevor and Cole are currently bickering about how Cole thinks Trevor cheated in the current card game being played, the rest of the group watching with amused smiles on our faces. "Y/N, you're the only one here that isn't partial. Did Trevor cheat?" Cole's statement makes everyone shift their focus to you. Lifting your head from Marks shoulder you stare at the boys in confusion and a little bit of embarrassment for being the main focus.

"Honestly, I wasn't looking. I was busy peeking at Eddys cards but knowing Trevor for the past like six hours? I'd say yes." Ethan shoves your shoulder and Trevor immediately starts pleading his case about how he did in fact not cheat and that you bruised his heart thinking he'd do such a thing. "Trev listen bud. We all know you cheat every time we play so just accept the facts." Jack pats his friend on the shoulder laughing as Trevor stares at him with wide eyes. After that the game continues but you can't help but notice Jack glancing at you from the corner of his eye and there is no chance of ignoring how that makes your cheeks warm and heart stutter a bit in your chest.

The house is still quiet, everyone still sleeping since it's not even nine in the morning yet and none of the boys have probably had the chance to sleep in for a while since the season just ended for the most part. Sneaking downstairs you make your way to the kitchen with the goal of making breakfast for everyone. To your surprise there is someone else awake except for you.

Jack is sitting by the kitchen island. A protein shake sitting on the counter and he is scrolling on his phone, workout clothes covering his body and hair still slightly damp from sweat. "Good morning." Startled Jack fumbles with his phone before looking up with raised eyebrows before giving you a smile and a small morning in response. "You're not sleeping in?" Taking a seat on the counter next to where Jack is sitting on one of the bar stools. He shakes his head before running a hand through his hair. "Nah, I woke up early so I just went for a run and Alex snores so my room isn't really peaceful right now." That makes you let out a sound between and a snort and a laugh covering your mouth with a hand to try and stifle the ugly noise that slipped out.

"So, you're the same age as me but you work as a photographer for one of the best schools in the country. How?" It's understandable how Jack can be curious of how you (barely an adult) got a professional job without a college degree. Most people you meet wonder the same thing when you tell them what you do for a living. You’re even surprised yourself sometimes if you are being honest.

"Well somehow the media team found my website and contacted me said they really liked my work and saw huge potential. I moved to Michigan about two years ago." Jack nods along to everything you’re saying listening intently as you explain how you ended up at University of Michigan.

Talking with Jack comes easy but you shouldn't be surprised since you felt the same way about Luke when you first got to know the Michigan wolverines. “Why do you live with Luke and his team? I mean living with half a hockey team sounds crazy." It's a hard question that you’ve never really thought about. One day after you first started getting close with the boys Mackie and Eddy just asked you if you wanted to move in and you said yes. "To be honest? My family is back home so I didn't have anyone close to me when I first moved here. It was terrifying but they made me one of them before I even said a word. They're my safe space when I feel homesick or get stressed out. I know that if it gets too much they'll look out for me or make me laugh when I'm sad. They're my best friends and like my little brothers."

Suddenly you feel bare, you have never talked about how lonely you were when you first moved to Ann Arbor. How scary it was. Those boys were your saving grace just when you thought about quitting and moving home. Ready to give up all the things you’ve worked for just because you were scared.

Feeling a warm hand on your knee you look up, Jack has a smile on his face but his eyes look sad almost like he knows all the things that just went through your mind. "You know I was lonely too when I first moved to Jersey. I had just turned 18 when I was drafted and I didn't know what was about to happen with my life. Everyone on the team were older than me and had their shit in order but I didn't. It's okey to be scared as long as you don't let it stop you from getting to where you wanna go." You can feel the tears coming so with a sad smile you wrap your arms around his neck. Jack hugs you back immediately and now that you have experienced a hug from Jack you decide that they're your new favourite.

Pulling away from Jacks embrace goosebumps rise on your arms and legs from the sudden cold that followed. His gaze is soft, giving of a feeling that resembles being wrapped up in a cozy blanket. A light blue and kind. “Do you think Luke will be pissed if I kissed his roommate?” Goofy smiles as both of you lean closer. “No but he will tease me for the rest of my life.” With that Jack takes a leap of faith and leans forward.

The kiss is just what you wanted it to be. A bit nervous and shy but has the feeling that this is the start of something big. Bigger than hockey, bigger than work and bigger than having to listen Luke and the other boys forever chirping you.

Yeah, this is definitely going to be the start of a new bigger chapter of your life.

WIP Wednesday <3

Happy Wednesday, my dudes! Taking the open tag from @kiwiana-writes and getting this out of the way early so that I can focus on some graduate school stuff that is a lot less fun. Also, yes, I just put some text on a screenshot bc I have no artistic ability but I wanted a lil thing for wip tag stuff :/

jesus christ, ANYWAY. I'm still slaving away over writing one single thread of gold tied me to you from Henry's perspective - title is officially "hell was the journey, but it brought me heaven" just btw :)

Turns out, Henry has VERY complicated feelings in this fic and sometimes he absolutely refuses to talk to me. Which is fine. I'll figure him out eventually. Until then, here's a snippet <3

Maybe, if he treads carefully, they can stay friends. It wasn’t their entire relationship that he shouldn’t have partaken in - being Alex’s friend was one of the only good things Henry has ever done. Taking it further than that cherished bond was a selfish and alcohol-induced mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life. Chewing on his bottom lip, Henry is preparing to type when he glances up at the news broadcast in front of him and sees his soul mark staring back at him. No, not his. Alex’s. A perfect fucking match to his. No. It’s not possible. Yet, there it is. Henry knew, though, didn’t he? Alex, the only thing in his life that has ever made sense. Alex, the beautiful and bright spot in an otherwise miserable existence. Alex, who had called him upset on Christmas minutes after Henry had started feeling nauseous and called him in a panic in February moments after Henry had woken with a racing heart. He’d ignored every single sign out of self preservation, refusing to let himself entertain an idea that was wonderful in theory but would ultimately only cause heartache. Alex’s soul being tied to his is a punishment to them both - Alex, for wanting a soulmate and getting one that he cannot have; Henry, for being in love before he knew and now understanding that he has to be the one to take Alex’s dream away from him.

I've been thinking about Henry and Alex's wedding again

I think that it would be absolutely balls-to-the-walls fucking mental. It'd be a royal wedding that even my parents and I (very much anti-monarchist) would watch and enjoy. I want a royal wedding that would give Piers Morgan cardiac arrest six ways from Sunday.

Like, speakers on every street corner blasting Bowie, Jagger, Queen, Blondie, Gloria Gaynor, Taylor Swift and One Direction.

If they HAVE to sing God Save the Queen, I want it sang by Adam Lambert while Brian May absolutely shreds a guitar solo on the top of Buckingham Palace.

An autumn wedding because Henry told Alex that if a wedding happens during term-time, kids get the day off school and who is he to deny them that.

Mexican food and burgers and hot dogs, curries and fish and chips. None of this pretentious canopies and whatever else it is rich people have at weddings

Cornettos and wedding cake made of red velvet and funfetti.

Elton John singing "Your Song" as a first dance.

Queen Catherine leading Britain's nobility in the Macarena and the Cha Cha Slide and Martha having to drag Philip onto the dancefloor.

Foreign Monarchs and Dignitaries and the fucking Prime Minister's Cabinet becoming wild party animals for one night and one night only.

Jaffa Cake donuts, because they're a thing and they are the best thing ever.

RWRB Movie: Sequel Series?

Hear me out.

A while back I mentioned that although I desperately want more Firstprince and more of the RWRB universe, I don’t really straight up want a sequel movie because of how complete the movie’s “fairy-tale” ending is and because I can’t think of, and don’t really want a full-on dramatic plot for their future. I kind of just wanna see them live their lives. I said I didn’t really know what’s the compromise between my two thoughts.

It hit me recently:

a series/ mini-series

The thing is, a series doesn’t need to be a continuous storyline. It can and most of the time it is, but it doesn’t need to be. May not be the best comparison but the Disney Junior shows I watched as a kid, while having some sort of overall continuity, aren’t always continuous. Each episode can serve as an independent story: sometimes it’s a flashback episode, sometimes it’s an alternate universe episode etc.

So when it comes to RWRB sequel, the benefit of doing a series instead of a movie is that it doesn’t need to be strictly set in the future, and it doesn’t have to have a dramatic over-arching plot, which leads to two big things we can work with.

One, we can jump around with the timeline, and give enough time to explore events that could only be mentioned in passing in the movie due to time constraints and pacing

@pippin-katz wrote a post about seeing a flashback to their first meeting in the sequel, and yes, absolutely, but with a series, a whole episode can be dedicated to their first meeting, which would be enough time to explore the whole event (i.e. Alex’s nervousness and Henry’s discomfort being at the conference, what happened after) and both Henry and Alex’s perspective. We can see everything from that day.

We could also fill in the gaps, moments that occurred during the movie but wasn’t fully presented. I don’t know if Wimbleton still works with the difference in dynamic and character on Henry’s part, but if it does it would be fun to see. One of the things that was in the book that I wish could have been in the movie was a moment of Alex’s showing his vulnerability and Henry understanding him immediately when they were just friends, so the Christmas phone call in Chapter 3, that can be in the series. Maybe the thing with kid Alex and the magazine photo of 12-year-old Henry. Things like Henry’s meeting with the King during his 18th birthday. Henry’s perspective of the Alex POV events and vice versa.

And of course we could have moments of their future, living together or working out a long-distance relationship, celebrating anniversaries, going on dates, doing public events as a couple, maybe even proposal, engagements, wedding, adoption, all the good stuff.

Two, we can focus on characters and relationships that aren’t Firstprince

Now don’t get me wrong, I love my boys and could never get enough of them

But one critic I’ve heard and sort of agree with is that a lot of supporting characters, and subsequently their actors, were underused. While I completely understand that again, it’s due to the limitations of movie storytelling, it’s still a pity.

With a series though? We can have episodes focusing on certain relationships, past, present and future.

We can have Henry’s relationship with his father, how the whole family fell apart for a few years because of losing Arthur and how much Henry’s grief affected him. (I think Nick would absolutely kill it)

We can have Alex learning more about Henry from Bea and Percy, and forming some sort of unspoken “Henry protection squad” bond.

We can have Henry reconciling with his grandfather and mother, and him introducing Alex to his mother.

And while we’ve seen Henry bond with Oscar, it’d be nice to see more of that, as well as see Henry bond with Ellen.

Firstprince will always be present, but with a series, it doesn’t always need to be the focus, and we can explore other relationships as well! And it’d give the other character a bigger chance to shine

And it can even be independent character studies: we can get a closer look into Henry’s depression and Alex’s ADHD/imposter syndrome (I’m not sure if movie Alex still reads ADHD, someone help me out here please, but if he does it’d be nice to see)

I love the movie so much and I understand that not everything can be translated on screen for it, but if the next related project is something more like “fill in the gaps” instead of “start a new thing” we can adapt certain things in the book that couldn’t be in the movie. Like colouring and adding things in the blank space of a painting instead of starting a new painting. Think about it, even Henry’s bonus chapter is a collection of miscellaneous moments that happen after the events of the book: it doesn’t have a plot.

I literally don’t know if this is a practical idea, and I’m aware this literally sounds like a collection of cannon compilate one-shot fanfics but on screen, but this is the best way to extend the RWRB universe I can think of

It’s more domestic fun and maybe fan service than making a statement/sending a message like the movie did, but the movie already did that, and it would just be nice to watch smaller moments of their lives

(and well, I got myself excited writing this, so please please please please please)

-Willie is friends with the crows. Ray has accepted this. He's glad Willie is making friends, even if they're not human. He's also glad the crows never poop on his car anymore.

-Willie has a hard time with the whole concept of money. He's been raised by fairies. His entire life was a series of complicated rules about trades, kindness that is rewarded, except when you try to reward their kindness and it's seen as an offense, and sometimes there's tricks where you're punished either way, and other times Caleb is just amused he's asked for something interesting, and now they're telling him you can just... slide some paper and coins to someone and they do or give you specific things????

-Yes they had several long conversations about it because Shoplifting is Bad, even if they don't see you, if you want more strawberries you can just put them on the grocery list. No teleporting inside the greenhouse and eating them there is still stealing. Yes even if you clean their house for them. Please don't break into random farmers' houses to clean them, buddy, this is America, people have shotguns.

-Between Willie trying to eat things before paying for them while at the supermarket and Alex getting overwhelmed with all the choices and Luke just staring at everything modern (he really liked the automatic doors once Ray promised they weren't magic), Reggie is the only one who gets to come grocery shopping if he's in a hurry.

-Yes Reggie absolutely adores father son bonding time shopping with Ray. And also getting to pick special treats for his boys.

-But when Willie starts asking to come with because 'I have your silly papers now, I want to pick my own fruit please, I promise not to eat them until we're in the car' Ray is like: okay. And then: where the hell did you get money.

-Willie: =D The crows give it to me. Ray: You taught the crows to pickpocket??

-Willie just shrugs. "When you go to the place with the Fast Food you give the people in the weird hats the papers and they give you fries. I started giving the crows fries for the silly papers, and it works." He leans over to whisper: "Sometimes they get a fry just because they're good birds or they bring me something shiny instead."

-Ray is still in an existential crisis on if his new foster son and his empire of Crime Birds is something he should try and stop, when Willie is like: Like this rock!!!

Ray: WILLIE THAT IS A DIAMOND.

Willie: Oh is that good? You can have that one, I like this one better. And then he proudly shows Ray a random pebble with some pink bits in it.

-Listen four extra supernatural mouths to feed is a lot but also he doesn't want to get arrested trying to pawn it but also he can't go to the cops and say: the crows brought my kid this in exchange for a french fry. So the diamond ends up in like, a junk drawer.

-Now that they've all worked out that Sharing Is Caring Willie is no longer wanting to hiss in jealousy at Julie and they become good friends. She makes him flower crowns that he proudly wears everywhere.

-When Ray insists he has to wear a helmet to skateboard he pouts because it will crush his flower crown, so Julie makes him one that fits over his helmet.

-The boys all love Flynn and let her play dress-up with them until they 'find their signature styles'. Alex likes pink and comfy clothes and fanny packs, Luke will cut the sleeves off anything.

-Flynn teases Reggie that is he sure he came from the 90s and not the 50s and Reggie is just like: I already have a signature style and it's served me well thanks.

-Willie will wear whatever and makes everything look good but he likes crop tops because of the way it makes Alex go all flustered.

You were headed to the library, books clutched to your chest and in your own little world when you spot your brother and his friends. You smiled as you saw he was with Lily, you didn’t know the girl all too well as you mostly hung about with Amos and Alex but you knew she was kind and more than held your brothers heart.

You debated whether or not to say hello, not because you wouldn’t be welcome but more because of one of Lily’ friends, Marlene.

Marlene was beyond gorgeous, confident, out going, complete opposite to you, the quiet, be it nerdy bookworm. She was in all of your classes, yet in almost 7 years of school along with your brother and her being besties, you had never spoken a singleword to her.

Embarrassingly it wasn’t due to the opportunity never presenting itself, it had in fact happened more times than you care admit. She tried to make conversation, using your brother and hers random once a year adventures as an in, yet you offered her nothing but a nervous smile in response.

Due to this, you ultimately decided you would just walk on by with a wave and not stop. Your brother would know not to drag you into conversation, he learned over the years to let you work at your own pace with people, especially extroverts like himself

“Hey little potter” you hear Sirius say with his elbow leaning softly on Remus’ shoulder and you smile at him, not just due to the greeting but the height difference between the two made the whole scene adorable

You offer a wave with your smile, seeing all of them do the same, but really you were focused on the fact Marlene did it, in your eyes or maybe your imagination, a little more enthusiastically than the others. Either way you walked to the library with the biggest smile on your face, she would never know but that small act sent your heart to the stars

“She’s the cutest witch alive ain't she” Sirius comments to the group as they watch your receding figure

Remus hums in agreement “That she is love” he smiles, gently removing Sirius’ arm and replacing it with his own around the shorter boys shoulders

Sirius blushes ever so slightly but luckily the conversation focus' on you so the only one who would tease him for it would be Remus’ later

“Why didn’t she say hi?” Alice wonders out loud, her voice sweet and they all can practically feel Frank melting beside her

James’ eyes light up but they shine when Lily answers for him

“Oh that’s her way of saying hi back is a smile, she’s just really shy” she explains with her head leaning into James’ bicep

Marlene smiles at that

“Does she ever speak?” she asks nicely, her voice softer than normal as it always was when the topic revolved around yourself

“Yeah, just takes her a while to open up” James replies, subtly raising an eyebrow as he was the only one to pick up on the blonde becoming absolutely mush around you

“Took her living in a house with me before she and I actually had a conversation that she led…let me tell you the girl can talk when she gets going, it’s so cute when she geeks out” Sirius notes

“She and I got close by sneaking to the kitchens during parties because they weren’t really our thing” Remus adds

Sirius lets out a laugh “I remember that…and I remember us all thinking you were shagging” his tone changes a little at the end

“Jealous pup” Remus’ whispers while Lily and Peter tell Marlene, Alice and Frank how they bonded with you

Sirius flushes

“Shut up Mr I thought you fancied Marlene still you realised we were just getting high and crying about how we didn’t think the people we loved swayed that way” he whispers quickly back, recalling how Marlene used to pine after Dorcas, or at least thats who he assumed it was considered they dated for a few months, but she never actually said a name

“Oh that reminds me I needed to give y/n her book back” Lily says, pulling it out of her bag “I’ll be back in a jiffy” she says but Marlene stops her

“I can take. I need to go there anyway actually” she lies, really she just wanted to try and talk to you alone, no classmates, no friends, no drunk party goers, just you, her and the books

Lily tilts her head while Sirius just plain asks what they were all thinking

“Why would you need to go to the library?"

“She needs to pick up a book for our Runes assignment” James covers for her

They did have an assignment but the class was a joke, hence why they took it so they could just have fun and Marlene teach James more muggle stuff. Originally it was so he could understand Lily better but then he just enjoyed her company…besides it was likely she would be his sister in law at some stage anyway

Marlene gives James a thankful smile as Lily happily hands her the book, mouthing a ‘thank you’ to him to which he returns with a ‘go get her’

You sighed as you sat in the corner of the library, resting your chin on your crossed over arms. Looking up and out of the small window nearby, crying over your potions homework could wait a few minutes. Right now you just wanted to stare out of the window and daydream about Marlene

Imagining a confident you…okay a you that could speak and was actually dating her. Imagining yourself laying your head in her lap as she read to you, or her arm around you as she spoke with the group…maybe having a study session late at night and kissing her between the shelves...

“Hi”

The sudden voice had you falling out of your chair, face feeling more than hot as you realised who it was

“You okay dolly?” She asks while you felt yourself die and go to the afterlife

Dolly, she called me dolly

You just nod, scrambling a little as you climb back into your seat and chewing your bottom lip as she takes a seat next to you

“I have Lily’s book for you” she places it on the table with a smile, looking as confident as ever

She wasn’t her confident self though, around you she felt nervous, terrified she would accidentally scare you away. She knew from James you liked girls, so that was one less worry but she was still utterly terrified you didn’t like her. No matter how much James tried to assure her, no matter all the stories of how shy you were, she was still nervous you just genuinely just hated her company and thats why you never spoke

Say something…anything…fuck it, you think

“Thanks”

If the library hadn’t been dead quiet, the windows shut and Marlene purposefully listening for even the smallest of squeaks she would have missed it but she didn’t and she heard it. She couldn’t help but wiggle in her seat a little, trying not to just yell my crush since forever finally spoke to me, to the whole world

“Anything for you” she lets slip from her lips and if you weren’t melting before you were sure as merlin a puddle now

You shy away from her, looking out of the window again but she can see the gentle tugging up of your lips

“What are you studying?” she looks over the books “Oh potions…fun”

You giggle at the sarcasm in her tone and it’s perfect. Marlene had imagined your laugh many times, but the real one swept her expectations out of the water

“Fun as Mr Binns telling us about historical mischief” you softly quip

Marlene’ eyes widen, sub-consciously…consciously…scooting closer, giggling unapologetically with a small snort at the end

“Trust him to make mischief boring” she replies and you laugh again “Don’t even get me started on broom history…I frickin love quidditch but seriously who needs to know that the first brooms practically gave the users splinters up their arse” another laugh but this time it’s louder, freer

“You’re funny” you compliment and she gives you the widest smile

“So are you” she returns it, leaning her elbows on the desk, so close they are teasing yours “I’d offer to help but there’s a reason I’m not getting a NEWT in it” she confesses

You smile, your stomach full of butterflies unsure if you may puke or not but at least you can speak now

“It’s okay, Alex is rather good at it I’m sure he can help me later after practice”

“That mean you’re free right now?” she inquires, hope evident in her voice

“I suppose” you let your elbows touch, feeling a small shock rush through you

“You want to maybe go a walk with me?” her voice wavers at the start but she quickly recovers

You meet her eyes, maybe it was the seeds of first love or the way the light was hitting off of the window but you could have swore they sparkled as you said

“Okay”

“Great!” ghe says a little loudly and you let out a small squeak “Sorry” her cheek go a little red...more than a little red

“You know…” you start before taking a deep breath

Yes she asked you to go a walk but what you were about to suggest turned it into a real date

“…Jamie showed me all of the secret passageways, including ones to Hogsmeade” your voice is soft and your words slow, eyes doe like as you watch for her answer

Marlene resists the urge to kiss you…for all of two seconds.

Her lips left yours as fast as they met them, it was just a peck but it meant everything to you both, even if Marlene thought she ruined or misread everything as you had gone a tad catatonic

“I’m sorry” she apologies, a sad look on her face

You shake your head a little, an act that would have been so cute to the girl if she wasn’t freaking out.

Your fingers go to your lips, gently tracing along them “Did I…umm” you start to lose your voice once more but fight to keep it “….imagine…” nope it’s a losing battle, she broke you

“I can do it again if you want” she masks her nerves with a small joke but you nod like she was dead serious “Really?” you nod again

Marlene doesn’t rush this one, her hand gently cupping your face as her thumb brushes over your cheek. She admires you for a minute, shamelessly enjoying you swimming in your seat and melting under her touch just like she had always dreamed of

“You have no idea how long I’ve what this dolly” is what she whispers before your lips touch

The kiss is sweet and the girl finds herself smiling into it, you may not be able to speak but merlin did your lips move in sync with hers and when she pulls back your lips chase hers breifly before you press them together, the plumpness evident as well as your want for it to never have ended.

"You coming then dolly" she quickly places your books in your bag, holding out her hand as she stands up

You just take it, voice long gone for this hills by now

“Can I assume our date will be mostly wordless”

You nod with a small pout

She pecks it "No worries dolly" she takes your hand "I can talk enough for the two of us"

arven found his footing at high school easily. his grades were impeccable in middle school, so he didn't have any trouble with work at the high school level. he was quiet and studious, and a few of his teachers had sent emails home recommending that arven take ap level classes in his sophomore year (unanswered, of course).

the only thing that arven longed for was a solid group of friends. multiple weeks had gone by and cliques were beginning to form around him. arven had had no luck outside of a couple friendly interactions, and he usually sat at lunch alone. until one day, when a girl from his physics class sat down next to him at lunch.

"hey, i'm skye watson. i'm gonna sit next to you from now on."

"uhh.. why? sorry, i don't want you to take pity on me."

"i'm not taking pity on you. i've sat behind you in class for long enough that i've determined you aren't an asshole, just super fucking introverted. i've adopted a couple other introverts like you, we're going to hit the thrift store this saturday, want to come??"

arven's head was swimming as skye kept talking to him. he was actually getting invited out, and he had an excuse not to see his mom after work. "absolutely. it's downtown on 7th, right? we can just take the train there."

it turned out to be one of the best decisions arven had ever made. he immediately got swept up into skye's group and found everyone to be extremely welcoming. alex villareal was shy, but she seemed extremely close with skye. penelope kim-lewis and paolo lobo were just as extroverted as skye, and archer akiyama was a transfer student that arven immediately bonded with over their shared love of reading.

for the first time in years, arven felt like he was amongst people who wanted him to be there.

Thinking about the characters from The Secret History and Ninth House/Hell Bent meeting. Here are my guesses.

- Immediately, Mercy would wholeheartedly hate Bunny.

- Tripp would like Bunny and protect him from Mercy’s attempts at maiming him. Tripp and Bunny would bond over jokes and sports. Because Tripp is honest about his parents cutting him off, Bunny wouldn’t usually try to extort him but would like talking to him about his wealthy childhood.

- Tripp is the ONLY member of the Lethe crew who would like Bunny. Darlington would find him slovenly (also Bunny would make fun of him for attending Knights of Columbus picnics as a kid). And Bunny would make racist and/or sexist comments to the others, so they don’t fraternize with him. Dawes could perhaps tolerate him because she’s into caring for people and cooking for them and appreciates when people need her for things. However, her tolerance all hinges on if Bunny says nice things about her food. If he praises it, she would excuse him here and there. If he’s a douche canoe about it, she will loathe him.

- Alex and Richard understand each other on the grounds of both being California kids who moved to out east to the university life to escape their garbage situations. Alex, here and there, gets annoyed at Richard for being too dramatic.

- Francis and Mercy would get along, just based on a major vibe I have. Their fashion is different but they appreciate the other’s eye for style and like each other’s attitude. However, due to her having been drugged and taken advantage of before, Mercy would be severely perturbed if she learned how Francis seduces inebriated people. She’d also correct him for classicist comments and he’d actually apologize because he likes her too much to ruin their friendship.

- Francis would be amiable with Dawes and Darlington. He’d not like Tripp very much. Turner and Alex wouldn’t like Francis. They’d both find him just so spoiled.

- Turner would take one look at the Greek kids and be like “Oh HELL no.” He’d immediately sense they did something screwed up, and he would be the one to try to get to the bottom of it. Let’s be real, Turner would have solved the case in TSH. Had he interrogated them, he would have seen past Henry and Charles’s bullshittery.

- Dawes would ADORE Charles. Just full on love him. They’d have a brief spat over him trying to help her cook, but then he understands that that’s just her thing, and he always says please and thank you and smiles at her— and she’s an absolute sucker for that. She’d fall for everything.

- Similarly, Dawes would get drawn in by Henry’s gentlemanliness and like cooking for him. But she’d also be intimidated by him. She doesn’t really talk to him because he makes her anxious.

- Dawes and Camilla would not really vibe, but stay fairly cordial especially around the rest of the group.

- I think Alex would shift opinions on Henry a few times before firmly disliking him. She’d find him snooty then kind of level with him (since he’s actually kind or nice and good with lower classes supposedly?) but then she’d pick up on the truth of his insanity and be SO no-patience with it. In fact, she’d rage at Richard for excusing the Greek class so much.

- Tripp would hit on Camilla then get beaten within an inch of his life.

- Henry, Richard, Francis, and the twins would be annoyed by Tripp but also handle him well and be able to joke a lot about him. They call him “Diet Bunny” behind his back.

- Darlington and Henry would be close at first. They both value proper etiquette and academics. They practice talking to each other in all their languages, and Henry is impressed by how many Darlington knows. They are delighted when they can quote things and have the other immediately know the reference. They’d have a late night heart-to-heart about their ideals, fascination with magic, and desires to find the greater things in this life. But, at some point or another, Darlington would start to question Henry and realize there’s so much evil in him. This creates a distance that Henry is disappointed by.

- Richard looks up SO MUCH to Darlington, and Darlington proceeds to be somewhat of an actually good influence on him.

- Camilla, Alex, Mercy, and Dawes would all go out for a girls’ night because they feel like they have to. It gets off to an awkward start, but then they find they have a lot to talk about and enjoy the outing. But Camilla remains a little too aloof for them to get really close.

- Tripp would somewhat respect Richard for making it so well without the support of his parents or their money. He asks for tips.

- Darlington would be initially kind of attracted to Camilla but, like with Henry, he starts to sense bad things about her. His experience with Camilla ends up only making him find Alex even more genuine and like her more.

RWRB thoughts

My thoughts after 1.5 viewings (yes, 1.5. I have watched it once and then re-watched certain scenes, but haven't made my way through a full re-watch yet.)

What I loved/like/squealed about:

nervous Alex at the wedding

Nora being all speechless when led away by Bea

The whole cake incident - it did not happened as I was expecting (don't ask me what I was expecting, I have no earthly idea), but I loved the whole thing

Zahra hitting Alex with the pillow. Perfect character moment

the silly height arguments that pop up several times. I think these are extra fun for book readers as it acknowledges the difference between the book and the actors in the movie but keeps the general teasing about height in the movie

Actually, Zahra in general was just so perfectly done

Amy being badass and also a loving dog mom (that wink at the hospital? the 'do I need to clear the room'? Amy is the best)

I still don't know what an equerry is. But I'll take a Shaan any day

The closet scene was really well done. It really allowed for the development of the rest of their relationship.

The way they did the texts with the voice overs and then Henry appearing in Alex's bed - I may have swooned a bit

The New Years party looked like what I imagine a cool party would look like (people do not invite me to cool parties and they never will).

All the representation in the film. Female black PM of the UK? Check! Gender fluid party attendees? Check? Some girl on girl flirting? Check! Trans actor? Check!

Percy's pink hair

Nora's red outfit. Damn girl.

Henry's reaction when Alex grabs his hips at the New Year's party - absolute gold

All of Henry's pining during the New Year's party was just perfectly painfully wonderful

The 'woah' of the woman who walks in when Nora and Alex are talking about his hook ups with men

Alex being totally distracted by Henry arriving at the dinner and looking every inch the son of James Bond that he is

That kiss in the red room was... hmmm... quite.... intense

Also Henry pointing at books after they were interrupted n the red room might have been the most ridiculously funny moment of the whole movie for me

Commanding Henry in the bedroom

Shots of Henry's ass bouncing on a horse being played between shots of the tack room rendevous. I think we all understand why Alex was so, motivated shall we say

The tenderness and intimacy of that Paris scene. Love making indeed.

Henry singing karaoke. Nora bopping along like all of us would like to be doing as fans no doubt

The Casey McQuinston book cameo!

Henry trying to make his burdens clear to Alex but Alex not getting it until they have their blow out. Also drenched Alex in this scene with Henry in his fancy housecoat was very visually appealing

The V&A scene made me cry. Henry talking about the only place he can find peace and have dreams of a happy life he doesn't think he'll ever have. Alex playing the song right away and making his dreams come true. Tears. Happy Tears.

The EXCHANGE! the signet ring. the house key. just kill me now

Seeing Henry's reaction to the email leak and how desperate he was to talk to Alex, how terrified he was, how betrayed. Hats off to Nicholas Galitzine for his acting (for the whole movie, but that scene in particular was just excellent)

Shaan and Zahra reveal! Yes!

Alex'a speech. Amazing.

Baby.

Stephen Fry as the king. What a choice. If you don't know how ironic this is, well go use your goggle skills.

Henry sticking up for himself. The tears in his eyes when he sees the public support

The way they show Alex's passion for politics and helping people.

The way they show Henry's passion for literature, history, etc. And also his frustration at not being able to make an impact and help people they way he wants to and how much he admires Alex for what he is doing

Things I missed/didn't love:

Alex not being a child of divorce. Also how his parent's relationship seemed ambiguous for a long time in the movie (for me anyway. Maybe I was just hoping they weren't together? like in the book?)

Not enough moments of Nora being a stats geek. She said she analyzed data but we don't get a moment where she gives Alex the odds. Sad.

Alex not having his sexual realization. I can see how this trims things down for the film, but I missed it

Not using the Miguel character as well as they could have. Again I can see this being trimmed out for time. I thought this was a reasonable replacement for the Luna subplot. Would have liked more in terms of fall out - did he have insider knowledge? Did he help get the emails leaked?

I would have loved more time of the texts to build the foundation of their relationship

I would have loved even more to have had more email time. I know this is tricky to get on film, but I really missed the sheer romance and intimacy we get in from the emails in the book. It makes the leak so much more impactful

I wanted more David. I love dogs people. I needed more beagle content!

Not enough Pez! Also why was he not Pez? Percy? Percy who? I loved when we saw him and I wanted more.

Same can be said for Nora

Did this film get an R rating from, maybe 2 'fuck's and one gay sex scene where no dicks or asses were shown? (Yes, one ass was shown, but it a completely different scene) Is that all it takes? Boo to the rating people. BOOOOOO.

The transition from the fight between Henry and Alex in his apartments to them leaving from to the V&A didn't feel quite right to me. It was awkward. Each scene itself was wonderful, just one right after the other felt like something was missing.

I honestly, completely, wholeheartedly loved this film. I know I will be watching it over and over. It will have a permanent place in my comfort film rotation. I think all the actors in the film did an amazing job. Both Nicholas and Taylor bought a lot of depth to their roles and really brought them to life so, so well. Their chemistry was completely believable and I rooted for them every step of the way.

For me, the book will remain my main source material for these characters and this story. But this film is such a great complement to the book. A different, but parallel story. I agree with director Matthew Lopez saying this was a work of fanfiction in its own right. It is not the same, but the heart and soul of the book and the two main characters is all there. Not sure I could have asked for much more.

(except for any missing scenes/extended scenes. i'm asking for those. please)

Say You’ll Remember Me: This is a Ryderdie WIP by @myemergence, and I really look forward to more. It’s one of my absolute favorite tropes (Amnesia!) and a canon-divergent AU for 2x9 featuring one of the best fictional couples to ever exist. I love Judd and Grace Ryder so much. Jenny nails the angst in that way where it hurts but GOSH it is good. It’s just *chef’s kiss* and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the journey takes us.

Searching For A Trail to Follow Again: Paige’s (@sunshinestrand) fics are classic, butterflies in your stomach, grinning from ear-to-ear, romantic comedies. This AU was so charming and, like all of Paige’s writing, leaves you with the biggest smile on your face because you’re just over-the-moon Carlos and TK have found one another in this story and in all her AUs (again and again and again). Contrary to popular belief among certain showrunners, letting characters just be happy is quality and compelling storytelling, and I’m grateful for fic writers like Paige who know that and give us a slice of that joy.

So Many Somethings: Rae’s (@iboatedhere) AUs are iconic by now, but this one will always be near and dear to my heart. Not just because it’s the You’ve Got Mail AU and it’s an incredible nod to the film, but also because it was the first fic I ever beta-read for her, and the whole process bonded us. Rae, thanks for trusting me! This fic is remarkable, I love the balance of enemies-friends-lovers and the banter. Oh, the Banter™️. Nora Ephron would be proud!

Sanctuary: If I had to use one word to summarize this fic, it would be ✨DESTINY✨. Honestly, I think all of Kim’s (@reyescarlos) fics have a destiny vibe to them, you can feel that these two characters are meant to be together, and they will find a way. I loved the first meeting in this one; the tension in the scene was palpable, and Kim’s writing always makes you feel like every interaction is happening right in front of you. She’s magic in that way ✨.

Slowly Becoming Lovers: I love fics that show us the little moments between Carlos and TK, how they fall in love through the little things, and the way Holly (@morganaspendragonss) portrays that journey in these short vignettes is so so SO beautiful. This is one of the fics I have reread the most, according to the AO3 clicks lol, and there is a reason for that. It is truly lovely. Also, the title is inspired by one of my favorite Ben Platt songs, and fits the story perfectly! Highly recommend!

Red, White, and Royal Blue

Snowed in? Snow problem: This fic is such a blast to read, lol. I laughed so hard, and I still laugh just as hard when I reread it because the ugh!Hunter slander is top-tier. A direct quote: “Well, I’m not bunking in with Hunter or you’ll be dealing with a murder by the end of the day.” Same, Alex. Same. Forever mood.😂 Add to that, “there was only one bed” plus Rae’s (@rmd-writes) ability to write Sexual Tension™️ x 5467893204858, and this college au is a must-read. Also, THE TITLE. YAAASS. A+ pun. No notes.

Sink Beneath the Waves: This fic. THIS FIC. You know how in every fandom, there are stories that are essentially required reading, this one by @indomitable-love is one of those fics for me in the RWRB fandom. The love, the yearning, the pain, and the utter joy at Henry’s “I’m into making History.” Getting the chance to see these canon plot points from Henry’s POV is a gift, and I’m so grateful this fic exists for us to revisit again and again.

So I've actually had a few ideas over the past couple of years of fics I find intriguing but may never pursue. However I think the one idea I absolutely will never actually write would be the Trapped in a Nightmare idea I had.

A major part of that is conceptually I don't think my writing would be able to capture the level of trippy I feel this story would need.

(First and foremost let it be known this would be a post S1 story, so the story would be relatively canon compliant)

Essentially due to magic shenanigans Julie ends up trapped in a nightmare-scape. The story would start without either Julie or the reader being aware of this. Initially it's just her alone, and the more she explores the more she realizes she is like alone alone. (her exploring would be done in that dreamy jumpy way. Like home leads to school or she'd just jump straight from her room to the studio. Plus the studio is noticeably unused.)

Anyway when Julie does eventually come across people, it's like they don't even notice her there. (Like I wanted to make it sort of initially read like when we first meet Julie in JatP and she's trying to be invisible only even when Julie does try to get people's attention they just ignore her.)

Then (preferably when the Julie section is reaching peal WTF and anxiety inducing) jump cut to everyone else in Julie's life freaking out because Julie will not wake up and no one knows why. Ray takes her to the hospital, but they're at a loss.

Eventually, (possibly through Willie) Reggie, Luke, Alex, and Flynn learn what's happening to Julie is magic related. (I never did settle on if it's Caleb revenge related or not). Then they go into a research mode trying to figure out a way to get her out. They theorize that because of the special ghost bond thing the guys might be able to project into Julie's nightmare to pull her out.

So Reggie, Luke, and Alex (and maybe Willie?) do that and at first their nightmares line up with Julies. They're alone and incapable of finding anybody. But then, the nightmares start shifting to accommodate their fears as well. So then it's a hodge podge of fears and all of them trying to work through them.

In the end, the power of friendship/love ends up being the thing to break through. I have like this weird vague concept that like after the guys enter the nightmare they can all intermittently hear each other calling out to each other. And somehow because of dream logic they start having these weird parallel moments where they can see the other's dreams while still stuck experiencing their own. Like picture those weird mirror/living photo things you see in movies sometimes.

Anyway it's during one of those weird parallel moments where they are able to start helping each other and after they're able to overcome their fears that they can get Julie to wake up.

Which HOORAY Julie's awake but also there's a period of time post her waking up where they have to still work through some things. Like a lot of the stuff they may have been brushing to the side or bottling up needs to get worked through. As well as some new things like Julie avoiding sleep. (This leads to lots of group cuddle sessions to help her calm down)

Anyway together they work through it. In the end I want it to be more focused on the friendship (or maybe even QPR) between the gang.

WARNING: Spoilers for both the Red White and Royal Blue movie and the book up to chapter 5

I think it’s funny that Alex’s love story is referred to as Shakespearean considering what’s to come.

“It’s funny how you think everything is about you” (page 14). Lol- especially bc he’s the literal main character of this story.

“Systematically drunk” (15) LOL

“Mutual antagonists” (17)

“Sorry I’m not obsessed with you like everyone else” (18). Oh buddy that’ll change soon. (Alex about Henry)

OMG that whole conversation is so good!

Cakegate is really funny for some reason.

“As the president all I want is to have the CIA fake your death, and ride the dead kid sympathy into a second term.” (23) I see where Alex gets it from.

The foreshadowing! Like Zarah telling Alex to gush about Henry like he’s his prom date.

“I’ll do it but I won’t have any fun” (Alex) “God, I hope not.” (Zarah 27) HAH! Alex is going to have fun, maybe too much fun.

Look I know Alex thinks it’s nerdy but if someone told me Great Expectations was their favorite book I would like them even more.

Ugh! the foreshadowing in this is just so good like when Nora speculate on why Alex has to sign an NDA and one of the reason she give is that he’s (the prince) is Gay. Lol (page 39)

Lol Alex being unable to decide if he Texan or Mexican side is more upset about English Breakfast (page 41)

Foreshadowing- Alex says Henry is “annoyingly attractive (43)

I don’t know if being an English major broke me or if I’m a mega nerd, but I want to write a literary analysis paper on this so badly.

Alex’s reasoning for wanting to get into politics is so wholesome (43)

Henry’s interaction with the caner patient is so cute (45)!

“You’re not the prince of me” (47). It’s just so good. Has this author written anything else? Please tell me they have. OMG they have! I will be needing all of their books now thank you very much.

“Are you trying to psycho analyzed me?” (49) lol, I feel like I say a variation of the this all the time when I’m with my psych major friend.

“I’m sensing an ellipsis (Henry) “It’s just…” (Alex) 51. This book sort of dose that thing that White Teeth did where it’s aware that it’s a novel, but it doesn't do it the same way. It’s more subtle and uses more irony.

Okay Alex and Henry bonding over Star Wars is sweet and kind of nerdy. I like it.

“But isn’t there something to be valued in a happy ending as well?” (52)

Alex taking a class called The Press and The Presidency is absolutely hilarious to me.

In your Marty and Alex are brothers AU, what is Marty’s relationship like with the rest of the family? Here Marty is an older sibling (and who was born first?) instead of the youngest. And how does Marty’s relationships affect Alex’s relationship with the rest of the family?

Also, yay! What started out as a random ask I got one day has turned into a fun little AU that I always enjoy getting asks about.

- Ok. So. I'm going to say Alex was born first, primarily because it then allows him to be able to use that "against" Marty at every possible moment. "Well, I was born first, so..." & "Since I'm the oldest..." are very on brand things for Alex to say.

- As for the rest of the family, I mentioned in a prior post (I think the first one?) that I could see Marty having a good relationship with and being close to Steven. Steven Keaton is such a supportive, fun, guy. He'd totally be behind Marty's music 100% and do things like having him come perform on the yearly telethon Steven hosts. Unlike Alex, Marty would love visiting Steven at work and getting a behind the scenes look at the documentaries and TV shows being made.

- I also wrote about Marty and Alex being sort of competitive when it came to Elyse. I mean, in Family Ties, Alex has no real competition in terms of his mother's affection. He's the oldest, and the only boy (until Andrew comes along!), so he absolutely has a special place in Elyse's heart. She babies Alex to no end. So, I can only imagine what it would be like if he had a twin brother he had to share her love with. Marty would be very close to Elyse, though. They’d especially bond over her musical abilities and play guitar and sing together. Elyse would have her work cut out for her, though. Between Marty's self-esteem/anxiety/impulsivity issues and Alex's anxiety/general neurodivergency, Elyse would constantly be putting out fires. Just a never-ending cycle of heart-to-hearts and pep talks and stern motherly lectures. She'd just get done helping Marty through some crisis and turn around to find Alex waiting his turn.

- I think that Marty and Mallory would have a decently close relationship. He wouldn't tease her or put her down the way Alex does, and, in fact, would probably put Alex in his place when he was being terrible. Marty would put forth his best effort to show interest in Mallory's hobbies and dreams, because that's just the type of guy Marty is. He'd sit with her and ask about what was happening at the clothing store she worked at, and listen intently to the latest news from the fashion world. They'd also be able to relate to each other academically, what with Mallory having such trouble in school and Marty likely being the same way. They'd be study buddies.

- Marty would be close with Jennifer, too. Jennifer (at least in the first several seasons of the show) is very sporty, and while I don't necessarily see Marty as being sporty, I think he's probably more so than Alex. Marty would be the one who's a little more willing to go play basketball or baseball with her.

- I suppose I should include Andy, huh? Honestly, there might be some more competition between Alex and Marty when it came to Andy. A sort of tug-of-war to see who the "favorite" big brother is. In the show, Andy ends up taking after Alex and sharing a lot of his interests, but with Marty factored in, that could change. Ultimately, Andy would gravitate toward them equally for different reasons. Alex would be the one he goes to to talk about the stock market, watch Wall Street Week with, and read books together. Marty would be the one to go to when he wanted to have some wild fun and just be a kid.

HI FLIP FLOP!!!!!! I'm actually bouncing back from like three days of awful dehydration so this couldn't have come at a better time!!! (i'm drinking water as we speak so no worries) (also literally all of this is pure opinion and conjecture!!!!!)

this is a fantastic question and I'm so glad you asked it!!! the answer is it usually does not lol. I have a personal opinion/theory that there's hair color that's random and hair color that's actually a core pillar of your personality. Percy and Annabeth are actually perfect examples, because they don't act brunette and blonde enough for that to be necessary to the actors playing them so the actors hair color doesn't matter as long as they can portray the characters well (which they do I adore Walker and Leah), and the whole big deal of them "having the wrong hair color" was people associating that hair color with that character instead of it actually having to do with their personalities. But with characters like Lorelai Gilmore and Elle Woods their hair colors aren't just hair color, it's a huge part of their personality, so even if Elle had died her hair brown in legally blonde, it wouldn't have changed her Blonde personality. Personality hair color doesn't have to be natural either, I could never bleach my hair and I will always be Blonde (and I actually have a theory that most if not all of the kids in athena cabin that don't have naturally blonde hair have blonde personalities which is where "most children of athena are blonde" comes from. they have bi monthly bleach and tone nights as a group bonding activity.) So characters like Marcus Baker, Schmidt from new girl, and even Sam and Dean Winchester, their hair color has absolutely nothing to do with their personality, but Max Mayfield, Alex Russo, and Miss Piggy might feel a little off if they were played by someone with a different hair color. Part of that might just be associating that hair color with that character, but I think it's because the latter have personality hair colors instead of random hair colors.

with Tedros (in all fairness I haven't read all the books and I started reading them a long time ago) being blonde is in fact a huge part of his personality. I think Jamie Flatters (the guy who played Tedros) did a really good job at portraying him, and he also has a really similar face/bone structure to the cover art, so it was a great casting choice and the only thing missing was Blonde. it might not have effected his acting but I have a feeling it would have just a teeny tiny bit and that would have been the difference between Blonde tedros and Brunette tedros. Plus I love the pairing of blonde golden retriever tedros x angsty gloomy brunette agatha.

TLDR it's objectively not a huge deal bc Jamie did a great job and I'm sure his hair color wasn't something he had control over, plus if Soman didn't care it's fine, I care a lot because this is a big deal to me and only me and is something I get fired up about (and probably to anyone else emotionally attached to Blonde tedros)
