Can you please write a zuko x reader hurt/comfort fic please? I’m not sure what prompts you have for it. But take as much time as you need and feel much better soon.
Pairing: Zuko x Reader Rating || Genres || Warnings: T. Romance. Hurt/Comfort. A/N: Ok but this broke my heart a little but it turned out so sweet in the end!
Tumblr media
It never got any easier.
Every time you went to see your father it would end in disaster. He refused to speak with you, or even acknowledge your existence. That you were standing there and speaking to him.
Nothing.
No reaction.
And it broke your heart a hundred times over.
It happened every single week. And you knew there would come a time when you would simply stop coming to him. There was so much going on in your life that you couldn't possibly keep coming to see him.
Your father. The war prisoner. One of the top generals when it came to cruelty against everyone who was not Fire Nation.
The man who had been condemned to jail for the rest of his life.
By the Avatar no less. And yet you could not bring yourself to feel anything other then acceptance of the fate that had befallen your father. He was cruel, through and through. His crimes against humanity were too long to list, and there was no power in the world that could free him from his prison.
And you were glad of it.
Which made you feel guilty.
                                           ————————–
Sighing deeply you entered the Fire Nation Palace from a hidden door and leaned against it, heaving a small sigh as you did.
Yet another unsuccessful visit. You had visited him, spoken to him. Though when you had mentioned the new Fire Lord, your father had made a response.
And that was to spit on the floor.
Your heart clenched in your chest and you slid down the wooden door, burying your face in your hands. It was hopeless. Aang had said so from the beginning. Had told you that your father's soul was too corrupted by his own cruelty and evil that there was no coming back from it.
Probably the reason that compelled him to remove your father's firebending abilities.
Still you had tried. Tried to talk to him, make him see the evil he and the rest of the Fire Nation had been doing. But all your words fell on deaf ears, and you were beginning to give up. Perhaps you should give up. Perhaps you should refocus your attention towards more meaningful projects.
Such as helping the new Fire Lord rebuild the Fire Nation. A daunting task for one so young such as yourself and the Fire Lord. And yet, one you were willing to tackles and would see to succession.
Surely it was much easier to achieve world peace then to connect with your father once more.
All of a sudden you felt someone rest a hand on your shoulder. Startled you looked up, only to catch sight of a familiar figure standing there.
"Hello Zuko." You spoke lowly in greeting, tilting your head back so you could look at him properly. It was still strange to see Zuko back in the Fire Nation Palace. After having been gone for so long.
You had barely seen him over the years, since his father had banished him. There was the odd run-in when he would dock where your father would be stationed, and you would take the time to speak with your friend.
Of course that was all a ruse to hide your true purpose.
A source of information to General Iroh, esteemed member of the White Lotus. Your mother had been a member, one of the few females to hold the title. And while you had never been closer to your father, your mother was a different story.
When she had died of a sudden illness, you had vowed to keep carrying out her mission and provide information to the White Lotus. You hoped your news had helped save lives.
It was the least you could do considering how the other people of your nation treated everyone so cruelly.
Once the war had ended, General Iroh had advised Zuko to appoint you as a member of his Council. You had agreed to his offer, saying you wanted to help him rebuild the world. And during those first few months, your long-lost friendship with Zuko had ignited once more.
In front of the rest of the Council, the Elders, and anyone of prominence, you were Fire Lord Zuko and Chief Advisor Y/n. But once duties were done for the day, you were simply Y/n, and he was Zuko. You had worried that things would be different between the both of you now that Zuko was Fire Lord, however, it seemed he was still the same old Zuko, the one you had played with in the palace gardens as a child.
"Did you go to see your father again?" He asked, sitting down next to you. You sighed and gave a nod. Reaching up you ran a hand through your unruly hair. You had unpinned it before going to see your father. Less chance of people recognizing you when you had your hair down.
"And still no progress." You responded to which he nodded in understanding. "I'm having the same trouble as you are. Father won't give up Mom's location." The despair in his voice caused you to forget about your own pain momentarily. It would still be there to be wallowed in after you figured out a solution to Zuko's problem.
"Need me to go in there and extract the information from him?" You held out your palm to allow a small fire to erupt between your fingers and allowing it to flicker there. "Fire is an excellent form of torture."
He knew you were only joking, which was why he only shook his head at you before reaching out to engulf his hand with yours, putting the flame out. "I think he will tell me eventually. But for now, let him stay where he is."
You hummed in agreement. "Let them both stay where they are. I mean we're both amazing children to even want to speak to them after what they did to us." While Zuko had suffered physically at the hands of his father, you had been subjected to mental and emotional torture while living with your father. The man had never once said a kind word to you. And you would've been happy never visiting him again, but Iroh had been the one to urge you to speak with your father.
To try and make amends.
"Do you think our father's were born bad or that it was because of circumstances that they turned out the way they did?" You asked, allowing your body to relax against his as you leaned your head on Zuko's shoulder.
Thank goodness the both of your had removed the uncomfortable armor for the day.
"I believe they were both given a choice, and they picked the wrong one." He shrugged. "Or perhaps they thought they picked the right choice because it would benefit them. But then again, it does make them selfish doesn't it?"
You heaved a deep sigh and nodded. "Well I suppose it is a good thing the both of us have each other to get through this." Perhaps trying to look on the opposite spectrum would give you the little pick me up that you needed. His hand, which was still holding yours, squeezed your fingers a little, as he hummed in agreement.
After a few moments of sitting in silence, Zuko finally spoke. "I'm glad I have you by my side Y/n. Its made things easier for me here." Being back here still felt strange. He had spent so many years traveling that being inside the palace was a little unnerving to him. But somehow, your presence seemed to make things easier for him. And not just the Council. You were always listening and observing even if Zuko wasn't, and you would always fill him in if he missed something.
And as for you? You were just happy you had your best friend back.
Though Iroh had suggested that the both of you take a step further when it came to your friendship.
Crazy old man.
"You know I sent my own sources out. To try and fine your mother." You admitted to which he gave you a surprised look. You smiled at him. "What? Did you think I wouldn't look for Lady Ursa once I heard she was alive? I recall being her favorite at times when you did something she did not approve of."
It had been a soft of playful rivalry between the two of you, to see who would be pronounced as the favorite of the day. Lady Ursa had become something of a surrogate mother to you during the years of your mother's sickness. Sometimes you missed her just as much as you missed your own mother.
Zuko's answering smile was soft and adoring as he leaned his forehead against yours. "Thank you Y/n." You smiled, leaning into his embrace, enjoying the way his hand fit into yours, and how the very scent of him had you calming down.
"Thats what friends are for." He pulled back only to raise an eyebrow at your words and the teasing glint in your eyes.
"You do remember our status has changed since the marriage was arranged?" He asked, prompting you to shrug.
"So? Doesn't mean our friendship has to be effected. You're still that annoying boy I met when I first came here." You reached up to playfully muss his already disheveled hair. He playfully batted your hand away, grabbing your wrists to stop you, he pinned you with a look.
"But it does mean I can do this." A quick peck on the lips, followed by one of each cheeks, which had you feeling a little flustered. "An added bonus to our already established relationship." You declared, grinning at him, all your previous worries forgotten.

I think Sokka would low-key resent Iroh for reminding Yue that she is blessed by the moonspirit, resulting in her sacrificing her life without question. Sure Iroh did it because there is no other choice, and really sokka would understand, but really, that boy has the right to atlest dislike someone who encouraged his (ex) girlfriend to die turn into the moon.
Thoughts?
yeah i’ve talked abt this exact thing before (can’t be bothered to locate the post but it basically just states this) and i definitely think that it’s one of many reasons sokka has to resent iroh. i mean despite being such beautiful foils (in many ways, iroh is just oldass sokka), sokka is the only member of the gaang to not trust iroh implicitly (which is funny only because they all at least vaguely know that he is the dragon of the west, and yet sokka, as usual, is the only one with enough common sense to be wary of him due to this fact) and treats him with a baseline hostility throughout the entire show (my favorite detail being how offended he gets when iroh puts his hands on sokka’s shoulders. and actually just sokka’s outrage whenever anyone he doesn’t like in general places a hand on him, it’s so funny). i mean even in their final scene, i always sort of read sokka asking “what about us? what’s our destiny today?” not as like, an earnest, deferential question, but rather as a sort of challenge. he obviously thinks that iroh sounds kind of cuckoo whenever he talks about destiny or intent-based morality (“good inside him isn’t enough, come back when it’s outside him too!” speaking of which, sokka would beat immanuel kant to a pulp you know it’d be on sight), and so here (at least how i read it), he’s kind of just saying “okay smart guy, so you’ve got this whole day mapped out according to your prophetic dreams and visions, but what about us? are you just forgetting about three perfectly good soldiers?” and i think iroh’s response here is the first time he actually sort of wins sokka’s approval, because he turns that question back around to sokka and says, no, “what do you think you ought to do?” recognizing sokka’s role as the planner, the delegator, the strategist, affording him the respect he deserves. and obviously sometime in the (near) future after the war, sokka is going to join the white lotus and work more closely with iroh and play the same game of pai sho with him for days on end, etc. but i think that one tiny moment really lays the groundwork for any possible future relationship they might have in good faith. and i also think that at some point, sokka would ask iroh to teach him how to enter the spirit world, at which point he will have finally atoned for the fact that yue sacrificed herself upon his suggestion.

Another Fic Idea that I will never write
I saw this fan art of Lin in Pinterest and it sparked yet another stupid fic idea. I have read this LB fanfic on FF.net that basically has a plot of Lin rumored to being dead or dissappeared since discovering a shocking subending of the Earth Element (so she is the not the chief of police and basically dissappeared around 2 and a half decades. So this lin is a little bit younger than canon lin). And here's where the story comes in, what if after avatar korra arrives at RC is also the time the rumors about Lin Beifong ressurfaced, it would start as hushed whispers on the alleyways until media would be involved. The blue spirit would make itself known, hiding from the shadows and all that stuff. Instead of two swords, this version of blue spirit would use Sai as its weapon of choice.
It would help people during the equalization of Amon but of course other people would misinterpret the idea, assuming the blue spirit is helping Amon. After Amon's death, the blue spirit made itself known again, causing fear to RC's citizen.
Zuko would definitely hear about this. He would send fire nation agents to investigate this "person" behind the mask. And Izumi? What if Izumi knows who could be the person behind that mask but unsure if its really her👀.
I think the conflict would evolve around the Beifongs of course and the Gaang's. I feel like Toph would be the main reason of this two decade dissappearance of her daughter. It would be a similar scenario of Suyin scarring Lin, where Su was sent to Goaling. But instead Lin just decided to vanish from the surface or that's what they think👀
In this story Lin would still have her scars (thanks to su) and it would happen way back than the canon time. This is where the story of how Lin discovered the new subbending and also a forbidden type of bending before the 100 year war.
Might include Yun as the founder of this bending and Kyoshi was the one who had to forbid this type of bending before it goes out of her hand as the avatar and also to stop Yun
Mstery, Angst, Drama, Violence name it this fic will have it all🙃.
Anyway, I feel like just like Zuko's arc this Lin would definitely start as a bad guy after what happened to her face, having blamed by her bending that she cannot control, why not add the break-up of Linzin for more drama and of course the constant deterioration of her self confidence when it comes to being a great earthbender and an heiress.
But one thing is for sure, the blue spirit is there to seek justice and also like grew to help the avatar along the way.
Why justice? That is unsure but I have this idea that after Lin was cast away, after she went through a lot of stuff (i know white lotus would try to imprison her just like what they did to the red lotus), someone would definitely help her. Probably taught her how to control this forbidden bending and that someone was killed by either Yakone, Red Lotus member or the white lotus themself. But what if it was the Gaang?(the mysterious sifu of lin, contributed to the death of Avatar Aang😉)

First off, when Nate Mann loses the Emmy to everyone on White Lotus this year, we riot.
Second, Tim Van Patten probably got the shot of the series, with Bucky raising a tattered American flag over the camp as the the other POWs wave their own nations' flags, finally freed from under jackbooted terror.
Third, this series does somewhat repeat the sins of the father, in that, like Webster scolding Liebgott when he goes after the commandant and Liebgott being forced to translate the German surrender to show that the German army, too, was a band of brothers, this episode suddenly has a moment of humanity between a German officer and the Jewish soldier he's forcing to march, possibly to his death (while many Jews were being marched to their actual deaths across Europe as the Allies closed in on the camps). I'm not sure if Jewish anger is too unpalatable, but please note that we're like two scenes away from Rosie discovering the dead prisoners and talking to a man whose entire family has been shot and dumped in a mass grave (pay extra attention to where that man says he's going to go now that he's been freed! If you know your history, that man has a long and quite impossible road ahead of him.) I've long been fascinated by the World War II novel, written as it was by Jewish veterans, as my grandfathers both served - and a great-aunt! - but Band of Brothers holds an important place for me because my great-uncle was a member of the 82nd Airborne. He essentially journeyed their journey, from Normandy to the liberation of the camps. But what I only learned, right before he passed, is that while he was occupying Berlin, the moment that gave him the most satisfaction was sitting on a bench that had once been forbidden to Jews. For once, it would be something if these shows let their Jewish fighters have that experience.
Fourth, the show doesn't mention it, but the raid in which Rosie was shot down actually resulted in the death of Roland Friesler, attendee of the Wannsee Conference and the man who shaped the court system in Nazi Germany into an executioner's chamber.
Fifth, this show may think Austin Butler and Callum Turner are its central characters, but I waited ten years to see Robert Rosenthal on screen and I couldn't have asked for more. See above re: Nate Mann deserving all the awards. When his hand touches the wall of the barracks...chills.

for the want of the sun| chapter 17: onwards
Tumblr media
The Misty Palms oasis is less like an oasis, and more like a water hole. More like a puddle in the sand. It’s evening, the sun low but still impossibly hot. My skin is damp, and I’m dragging my feet as I follow Iroh and Zuko through the small town.
Zuko scours our surroundings, the men cooped up in corners, the people leering from the scarce shade. “No one here is going to help us. These people just look like filthy wanderers.”
I roll my eyes. “We’re filthy wanderers, Zuko.”
Iroh stops suddenly, and with my mind foggy from exhaustion, I run into him. He barely falters. He raises his arm, pointing. “I think I found our friend.”
It’s an old man, sitting at a table and fiddling with what looks like a cheap Pai Sho set.
“You brought us here to gamble on Pai Sho?” Zuko hisses.
“I do not think it’s a gamble,” Iroh muses, and walks forward. Zuko meets my eyes with a tired expression, one I’m sure I’m matching.
“I don’t know if I can make it through this,” I mutter, watching as Iroh takes a seat across from the man.
“Me either,” Zuko groans, but nudges me along. We go to stand beside them.
“The guest has the first move,” the stranger says, and Iroh places a tile, the lotus, in the center of the board. I see the man’s lips quirk up, a curious and pensive expression overtaking his face. “I see you favor the white lotus gambit. Not many still cling to the ancient ways.”
Iroh nods. “Those who do can always find a friend.”
Zuko and I share a look. Huh?
The two place their tiles on the board, one after the other, until a shape emerges. I look at the pattern: like a flower. A lotus.
“Welcome, brother,” the man says. “The White Lotus opens wise to those who know her secrets.”
“What are you old gasbags talking about?” Zuko exclaims.
Iroh glances at him. “I always tried to tell you that Pai Sho is more than just a game.”
“Hey!” A yell sounds from behind us. Two men, dressed in Earth Kingdom clothing, are walking towards us quickly. “It’s over! You fugitives are coming with me!”
The Pai Sho man whips around in front of us and grabs my shoulders. I’m too startled to pull back. “I knew it! You three are wanted criminals with a giant bounty on your heads!”
“I thought you said he would help!” Zuko yells, pushing the man away from me with force. He stumbles on his heels.
Iroh places a hand on his shoulder. “He is. Just watch.”
The stranger rights himself up and points at the two intruders. “You think you’re going to capture them and collect all that gold?”
The effect is instant. Suddenly, from every direction, men and women are coming out of their places of hiding, knives, chains, and swords gleaming.
I step near Zuko. “This is helping?”
Someone yells, and the people run towards each other into a mob. I’m shielding my face, ducking, when Zuko grabs my arm and lifts me away. He pulls us behind Iroh and the stranger, and we duck inside a small door. The man closes it behind us, latching the lock.
Zuko is still gripping my arm, so I nudge him. He looks down and releases it quickly.
“It is an honor to welcome such a high-ranking member of the Order of the White Lotus. You must know may secrets.”
“What’s going on?” I ask desperately.
“Now that you played Pai Sho, are you going to do some flower arranging, or is someone in this club going to offer some real help?”
“You must forgive my nephew,” Iroh says. “He is not an initiate and has little appreciation for the cryptic arts.” He sends Zuko a look, but I can’t say I’m not on his side.
“Okay, but actually, is someone going to help us?”
They ignore me. The man leads Iroh to a small, hidden door, where someone is looking through from the other side. “Who knocks at the garden gate?” the voice asks.
“One who has eaten the fruit and tasted its mysteries.”
I shake my head. I think the desert is making me insane.
The door opens, and a short man steps aside to welcome Iroh in. I go to follow, but he turns back to us.
“It’s members only, sorry.” The door shuts.
I turn to Zuko helplessly. “Are we going crazy?”
He’s staring, annoyed, at the door, but then a tired smile twitches at his lips. “I think we did a long time ago.
A thud shakes me awake. I lift my head from the wall where I’m slumped, next to Zuko. We share a look, both of us still weighed down by sleep.
“Is the meeting over?” Zuko asks. His voice is hoarse and raspy, which for some reason sends a jolt through me.
“Everything is taken care of,” Iroh says. “We’re heading to Ba Sing Se.”
“Ba Sing Se?” I question, rubbing my eyes. “What-”
Zuko interjects. “Why would we go to the Earth Kingdom capital?”
The Pai Sho man answers calmly. “The city's filled with refugees. Nobody will notice three more.”
“We can hide in plain sight there. And, it’s the safest place in the world from the Fire Nation.” Iroh chuckles. “Even I couldn’t break through to the city.”
A bell rings, and a boy enters the shop, carrying pamphlets of paper. Everyone turns to him. “I have the passports for our guests. But there are two men outside looking for them.”
“Okay,” the Pai Sho man says. “Then it’s time to sneak out.”
He ushers us near the door, where three large flower pots line the wall. He points, smiling. “In you go.”
We arrive at the ferry dock early in the morning. Our driver leads us inside, instructs us to hand our passports to an elderly looking man at a wooden desk, and leaves, sharing some cryptic words with Iroh that leaves my head spinning from lack of sleep.
We board the ferry and leave the port, and the sea air is welcome on my skin. After days of traveling through dust and grime, and a night spent in ceramic flower pots, I tilt my face to the sun, smiling. The boat workers bring us plates of food that look suspiciously translucent.
Iroh approaches us, dressed in an ostentatious floral hat. It’s too early for this.
“Who would’ve thought that after all these years I’d be returning to Ba Sing Se as a tourist!” His smile is wide and he adjusts the hat on his head.
“Well, you’ve got the look down,” I say, gesturing to his outfit. He nods proudly.
Zuko scoffs, sitting beside me, feet hanging off the edge of the ferry. “Look around. We’re not tourists, we’re refugees.” He takes a bite of his food, and I watch as his eyes widen before he spits it out. “Ugh!” he exclaims.
I chuckle. I wouldn’t have dared to eat it.
Zuko storms. “I’m sick of eating rotten food, of sleeping in the dirt. I’m sick of living like this!”
“Aren’t we all?” a voice drones.
I turn around to see a boy standing against the deck post, and…oh. He’s tall, his tan skin dewy in the soft morning light, his dark hair framing his face. He has a rugged look to him, like he has experience in the struggles Zuko was ranting about. He sweeps his eyes over us, and when they meet mine, I have to fight not to look away. He locks our gaze, his lips twitch up at the ends.
“My name’s Jet,” the boy says, standing. “These are my Freedom Fighters, Smellerbee and Longshot.” He gestures to two others: a very tall boy with serious looking features, and a short girl covered with face paint.
The girl nods. “Hey.”
“Hi,” I nod back. When I look back at Jet, he’s still smirking.
“Here’s the deal,” he says. “I hear the captain’s eating like a king while the rest of us have to live off his scraps. Doesn’t seem fair, does it?” Zuko straightens up beside me.
“What kind of king is he eating like?” Iroh asks.
“The fat, happy kind,” Jet answers flatly. He looks at Zuko. “You want to help us liberate some food?”
Zuko tosses his bowl of food to the side. “I’m in.”
I stand up. “I can help, too.”
Again, that smirk. Jet walks closer. “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. Just let us do the work.”
I eye him steadily. “I can help. I think you’d rather have me with you.” I look at Zuko, urging him with my eyes to jump in.
“Right, yeah,” he says, a moment later. “She’s good. She can chi-block.”
Jet raises his eyebrows. “Chi-block, huh? That’s pretty advanced. Where’d you learn to do that?” I catch the flash of suspicion in his eyes.
“Self-taught,” I shrug.
His eyes linger on me a moment longer before he finally nods. “Okay. Regroup at nightfall. We're gonna have a real meal tonight.”

I so desperately want a massive political history of The Earth Kingdom. If I could have any other thing from the world of ATLA/LOK — book, show, comic, game — it would be that. Bc I am so interested in it.
🚨 Spoilers for every thing — Yangchen and Kyoshi books, ATLA, LOK, Comics, etc. 🚨
The earliest we hear about an actual Earth Kingdom and Earth Royal family is in F.C. Yee’s Yangchen books. At this point, the Earth Kingdom has just gone through a civil war, wherein the White Lotus manipulated the Water Tribes and Fire Nation to sponsor a challenger to the throne, which is wild. The challenger was defeated and the Earth Kingdom entered a period of intense isolationism. There are a handful of port cities where foreign trade is allowed, with incredibly powerful governors who actively manipulate the system to build their wealth at the expense of the citizens. The Earth King is paranoid af, to the point that he is donning disguises and sneaking around to catch plots against him. And some of these governors are actively plotting against him and inventing new weapons of mass destruction (combustion benders) in order to usurp him.
The next we see of the Earth Kingdom is in the Kyoshi novels were it’s a devolved mess of warlordism. Various daofei groups had taken over parts of the inner provinces and the Earth Monarch was incredibly weak. There’s also the whole Wars of Secrets and Daggers scramble for the throne, which is only mentioned.
According to the Wiki, in the online comic Escape from the Spirit World, Kyoshi pressured the ineffective 46th Earth King to adopt a constitutional monarchy in order to prevent further oppression. This occurred in the aftermath of a peasant revolt that occurred after the death of Chin the Conquerer.
Avatar Legends then gives us a King Jialun, who reversed many of the progressive changes of this constitution and murdered the sages who agreed with Kyoshi in “The Night of the Silenced Sages.” The government was recorrupted, but no other successor had the same power as Jialun. So the Earth Kingdom monarchy was corrupt but weak.
Then we next see the Earth Kingdom with King Kuei (the 52nd Earth King). According to the old website, he ascended to the throne at the age of 4, which is why Long Feng — who served as regent — was able to essentially takeover.
But based on what we see in the show, the Earth Kingdom has completely splintered. The Earth King only has power in Ba Sing Se, and that power is only ceremonial. He is unaware of the 100 year war and completely inept to rule. Then it’s Azula and the fire nation takeover.
In the comics that come between ATLA and LOK, King Kuei, without the influence of Long Feng, takes an active role in the governance of the Kingdom. He is willing to go to war over the colonies in “The Rift,” but is also willing to be shown wrong. He was instrumental in the peace after the war and fully restored the monarchy as the full power of the Earth Kingdom government.
Then we get to LOK. Hou Ting is a fairly powerful, incredibly corrupt monarch. She tried to exert more control over the people, especially the outer provinces. She’s then killed by Zaheer. The power vacuum is ultimately filled by Kuvira, a non-dynastic dictator who rules by force and sponsors brain washing and the forced removal of Fire and Water nation descendants. The next dynastic ruler is Wu (whom Kuvira had usurped). He is Hou Ting’s great-nephew, and at least third in line from her. He is the only surviving member of the dynasty and seems unprepared to rule at his coronation, after three years of living in Republic City.
After the whole Kuvira thing is taken care of (Book 4 of LOK), Wu then decides to abdicate and democratize the Earth Kingdom. The post-canon comics (Ruins of Empire) show the struggles and setbacks of this, but ultimately reaffirm this path.
And I am so obsessed with this whole history. There are, according to the Wiki, at least 2 dynasties, the Hao and the Hou Ting. It resembles Chinese history, but doesn’t just follow it. There’s dynastic decline and really interesting incidents that I wish were more fully fleshed out. Not to mention as the centralized monarchy weakens, you see the rise of local powers, like the King of Omashu. I just find the whole thing so fascinating and I wish I had a comprehensive book.

04. Someone’s jealous
Knock knock knock
“Yn wake up!! It’s time to start the day!” Haseul’s voice echoed from out in the hallway. She then repeated the process four more times at the other members’ doors. You squinted as the bright morning sun beamed through the bright white curtains, welcoming you with its warmth.
“ughhh” you groaned as you quite literally rolled out of bed getting your morning started.
-
Everyone was gathered in the kitchen eating breakfast that the chef prepared. “Where’s Hyein and Haerin?” you asked as you noticed they were not present.
“They only stay on the weekends or four days out of the week during competition season.”Yeojin explained while Minji nodded her head along.
You admired all of your members while they ate, Yeojin peacefully ate her food while scrolling on her phone, Danielle looked as happy as can be while humming, Hanni was flooding in her hoodie while continuously pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose, and Minji slowly ate her food while looking down at her plate. Her presence in the morning was quite intimidating but you still couldn’t figure out what she was thinking behind those cold eyes of hers.
You quickly looked back down at your plate when Minji caught you staring, you swore you saw her smirk but that could just be your imagination going wild early in the morning.
-
You sat at your pc staring at the custom lobby that Haseul had put together with Fallen Angels for a practice game.
“don’t be nervous, they are really nice, but very competitive” Hanni held your hand. You felt a glare burn a hole in the back of your head as you didn’t turn around because you knew it was Minji staring at you from a seat down.
“Kim Chaewon is their leader, though she has bad anger issues, like really bad, Sakura is a pro gamer, like shes been in the industry since she was a child, very smart and strategic. Yunjin is all for teasing, she loves setting traps and teasing opponents, so dont let her fool you.” Haseul read off from the top of her head as everyone waited to load into the map.
Kazuha is all about action, shes a duelist so she will always be entering first along with Sakura, and as for sweet baby Eunchae, she loves playing Sage and has some stupid amazing grim walls. So watch out for those.” Haseul finished.
“Any questions?” everyone shook their heads no before Minji took over.
“Alright guys we are attacking first on Lotus. Make sure to keep your crosshairs high and listen to each other.” Minji said as the match started.
You spotted the enemy Kayo C, notifying your team as you all rushed into site. You being Raze, you used your satchel to jump into site and instantly head shot their omen before being hit from some angle you couldn’t see.
“I have 70 health! I don’t know who’s hitting and from where!?” you panicked as Yeojin came to your rescue with a Skye heal.
“It was probably Eunchae and her grim wall somewhere, but keep a lookout” She said before scouting the area.
“Chaewon and Sakura are on site somewhere, and Kazuha is probably flanking” Danielle stated from her position in waterfall. A sudden rush came in, Chaewon and Sakura popping out from Halls while Kazuha and Eunchae were in waterfall and main rushing in on them.
Shots were fired everywhere as the spike was on the verge of exploding. It was down to only y/n and Chaewon as everyone else’s bodies were scattered around the site.
“Fall back y/n she doesn’t have time to defuse” Minji said sternly and you listened to the older woman, running away as the spike went off as you nearly missed your escape.
“Yes! good job y/n!” Danielle complimented.
Hanni pulled you into a hug, “good job baby girl” she smiled causing you to blush at the sudden nickname.
“Ahem.” Minji had cleared her throat before cocking a brow at the two of you, we have to win 12 more rounds so if you two wanna stop kissing and buy your materials please and thank you” Minji hissed.
“ouch, someone’s jealous” Danielle giggled.
“am not” Minji argued back like a toddler. Cutie.
Tumblr media
Summary: You were scouted to be on a pro esports team when you started to find yourself falling for the leader, Minji as well as Hanni. Leaving you in difficult situations that eventually effect your performances. As Minji starts being harder on you, you can’t help but lean on Hanni for support, but deep down you wonder if any of them feel the same way you feel for them.

(The below is a show-only question.)
Iroh during Sozin's Comet said that he couldn't fight Ozai in part because the world would see it as brothers fighting for the throne, instead of the restoration of peace. But then he says that Zuko needs to confront Azula so that when Ozai falls, he can take the throne.
I can see the argument that Iroh thought that Zuko would secretly enter the Fire Nation Royal Palace and capture Azula with Katara before then holding her hostage until Aang arrived. But it seems more likely that he intended Zuko to fight Azula and her forces together with Katara.
So how do you think people in-universe saw the Agni Kai, and how do you think Iroh/the White Lotus justified his seemingly contradictory statements/actions? Also, do you think Zuko or the other members of the Gaang caught onto the contradictory, and if so, did they ever talk to Iroh and/or the White Lotus about it? Or if you think Ursa ever returned, did she confront Iroh about it?
Thanks for the ask!
The "Iroh v. Ozai final fight" question is kind of a mess. The showrunners didn't flesh out their relationship at all, to the point you can barely believe they're related. They made Ifoh a powerful firebender and a morally good person, whcih combined to his parentage puts him in position to stand up against Ozai.
And yet they absolutely needed for the final showdown to be Aang v. Ozai, which was needed thematically. They kinda painted themselves into a corner making Iroh the Designated Good Moral Upstanding Mentor Figure (tm) so they needed to find a good justification why this amazing man couldn't get rid of evil himself. Iroh needed an excuse that still made him look good so that's what they came up with.
Iroh's doalogue could have been better written to reflect that either he feels he lacks legitimacy to challenge Ozai, or to simply state that he doesn't want to kill his own brother, but with the way itwas handled on the show, we're left to speculate about his motives.
If you ask me, Iroh's real motive is that he's unlikely so win against Ozai and he knows it, so all he can do is hope the Avatar is OP enough to do it. However, he has such a high idea of Zuko that he's sure the kid can beat Azula in a duel, especially with Katara's help.
Thre's also the question of legitimacy: Iroh has previously accepted Ozai as Fire Lord and didn't object to being passed over when Ozai took the throne. It's a bit complicated for him to do a 180 now that Ozai has been reigning uncontested for years. On the other hand, Zuko has a valid claim to the throne because he is older than Azula, and he is in the right timeframe to challenge her before her coronation.
Finally, Iroh is a character who doesn't act much, even when faced with hard choices. That's because he's written as an older mentor figure, but it has the result of having him be passive and tend to let others fight his battles. He has never tried to stop Ozai, he was content playing shop while the war raged outside Ba Sing se. It's in character for him to just offload the hard work on the kids with some vague advice about destiny.
I very much doubt he intended for Zuko to peacefully capture Azula - he never expresses concern for her, and he clearly just sees her as a hindrance that stands in the way of Zuko's Destiny(tm). He probably doesn't intend for her to die, bur i doubt he cares how Zuko defeats her, as long as the kid ends up Fire Lord.
I don't see why the Gaang or the White Lotus would have any issues with that, since having Zuko as Fire Lord is beneficial to them.
Ultimately it's hard to give a convincing explanation because i'm sure the writers intended for him to have a good reason, but as is often the case woth Iroh, his actions and reasoning are at odds with how moral he's supposed to be.
NB: i have not watched the new live action version, this answer is based on the original animated show canon.

Zuko Did the Honorable Thing by Challenging Azula to the Final Agni Kai
Lately, there seems to be a popular strain of thought in ATLA fandom that the 16 year old Zuko was dishonorable in accepting his clearly mentally unstable sister’s Agni Kai challenge for the Fire Nation throne.
Or that the 16 year old Zuko challenging the 14 year old Azula to an Agni Kai is the same as the middle aged Ozai challenging the 13 year old Zuko to an Agni Kai due to “disrespecting” him in his war council meeting.
But when you look at the complete context, not only is there no equivalence whatsoever between Ozai’s challenge and Zuko’s acceptance, but also Zuko did the honorable and most sensible thing he could have considering the circumstances.
For it is it sad that Azula’s mental state deteriorated so hard that Zuko, who she is normally superior to, believed he could take her one on one?
Yes.
It is sad that two siblings, who, despite all that happened between them, do deep down care for each other, and yet, instead of being able to resolve their issues peacefully, instead have to fight each other till one of them is dead or subdued due to being on the opposite sides of a war that started long before either of them was born?
Yes.
It is sad that Iroh said that he could not fight his younger brother because history would negatively view two siblings fighting for the throne while in the same breath sending his underage surrogate son to fight his underage niece to death?
Or that instead of subduing Azula himself with a handful of his fellow White Lotus members, Iroh instead deliberately choose to leave the fate of the Fire Nation and his remaining non-Ozai family in two teenagers' hands (Zuko and Katara) in favor of going on an ego trip liberating Ba Sing Se? Especially since TV!Iroh, even when out of shape, has hype and feats that suggest that he can easily defeat TV!Azula without hurting her or getting himself hurt?
Yes.
It is sad that Ozai, if he knew that Zuko was going to challenge his prodigy for the, as far as he knows, now worthless Fire Nation throne, would probably encourage it since in his twisted mind, either Azula gets to “redeem” herself for “failures” and for lying to his face about the Avatar’s survival, or Zuko will have done the world a favor by eliminating his “disappointing” daughter, who was not worthy of his “love” after all?
Yes.
It is sad that instead of getting a real chance to heal and atone for her actions after getting involuntarily psych warded, Azula instead got abused in her asylum to the point that her mental health further degraded, causing fans, and probably everyone in-universe outside of Zuko and Ursa after the actions she took because of said degraded mental health, to believe that she was always a psycho and/or that she had “second chance”, and yet threw it away?
Yes.
But the key point is that Azula was the agent of a genocidal, imperialist, colonizing regime, and was going to continue perpetuating violence on the world if she took the throne. Meanwhile, Zuko was an anti-imperialist seeking to take the throne so he could stop the Fire Nation’s unjust and vile war of aggression.
And that Azula, even if she was mentally stable, was not going to be peacefully persuaded that everything she had been taught was wrong. Nor was she going to be peacefully persuaded that the world would never trust her on the throne, especially when Zuko, who at the point of the Agni Kai had shown he was a committed anti-imperialist, was a viable claimant and had a close connection with the Avatar.
For while we, the audience, know that Azula does have inner conflict and wishes that there was another path to take other than the one her father set out for her, Zuko and Katara don’t know that.
But what they do know is that: Azula is the hyper-competent Fire Princess who hunted them across the Earth Kingdom; that Azula is the person who overthrew Ba Sing Se with just two friends while also managing to turn Zuko and put a lightning bolt in Aang’s back; that she helped suggest  the “let’s burn the Earth Kingdom” plan, or at best suggested scorched earth tactics; that she actively encouraged the cruel treatment of prisoners of war like Suki; and that she started actively hunting them again once Team Avatar made a public reappearance on the Day of Black Sun.
And in Zuko’s case, Azula was his secondary abuser from childhood, attempted to kill him several times, and, as far as he knows, killed the love of his life after she saved him and half of Team Avatar from boiling alive in the Boiling Rock.
Also, Zuko was probably thinking ahead to when he needed to assert authority once he, Aang, and Katara successfully overthrew Ozai’s regime, and thus needed some way to legitimize his claiming of power.
For as far as the average Fire Nation citizen would be concerned, Zuko would be the traitorous crown prince who turned on his nation just when they were going to fulfill Sozin’s dream for the world in favor joining the demonic Air Nation Avatar so he could overthrow his highly regarded father and war hero sister so he could take the throne for himself.
And to make things even worse, Zuko’s only real domestic allies would be: the traitorous former Crown Prince General Iroh, the traitorous deserters Jeong Jeong, Piandao, and Chey, and the treasonous Ladies Mai and Ty Lee, if the Ladies miraculous survived being executed by Azula as far as Zuko is concerned.
So when Azula not only appears to be severely off her A-game, but also gift-wraps Zuko the means to legitimately take the throne, Zuko did what any sensible person would have done and accepted it, a choice that is vindicated by canon.
For even after Aang de-bends Ozai before allowing Zuko to jail him, and Zuko manages to involuntary psych ward Azula after winning their Agni Kai, Zuko constantly faces assassination attempts in Ozai’s name, and even an organized Ozai restoration movement in the form of the New Ozai Society, barely managing to survive all these threats to his life.
(Legacy tells us that Zuko officially won the Agni Kai even though Azula burned him, presumably because she attacked a non-duelist.)
So if Ozai, who had been defeated by a fully realized Avatar at the height of his power and spiritually mutilated as punishment for his transgressions against balance, was still was able to invoke such feelings in the Fire Nation population, imagine what would have happened if Zuko, instead of fighting Azula in an Agni Kai, instead decided to jump her in a 2 v 1 with a “snow peasant” before forcing the Fire Sages at fire and/or ice point to crown him Fire Lord?
Well, in my opinion, either Azula becomes an especially potent martyr if she dies, even compared to the scenarios where Azula dies in the Agni Kai since at least Agni Kais have the built in assumption that you are willingly risking your life by engaging in one, or, assuming that the 2 v 1 still ends with Azula alive and involuntarily psych warded instead of being killed, Zuko would have probably faced an Azula restoration movement.
And in the latter scenario, assuming that Azula manages to escape Zuko’s custody like she does in canon due to Aang's unwillingness to use energybending except as an alternative to summary execution and Zuko’s selfish desire to find Mommy at all costs, even if it means putting the post-war order in danger, instead of Azula eventually realizing that no one will support her claim to the throne, and thus her "realization" that her destiny is to “help” Zuko, Azula instead would have joined up with the movement and easily dispatched Zuko and his friends/allies before restoring the old regime en route to restarting the Hundred Year War.
And obviously Zuko wants to keep on living alongside his friends and allies so that they can, among other things, build the world of peace and love that they desire instead of the world of hatred and subjugation that the Fire Nation created during the Hundred Year War.
Not to mention, at the time of Azula’s challenge, Zuko didn’t even know that energybending was a thing, making it more crucial that he delegitimize Azula, for even if she was jailed or psych warded, if she managed to escape his custody, she could easily train to surpass him once again before attempting to violently overthrow him.
And before you call this fear unfounded, Azula did canonically manage to surpass Zuko again post-Sozin Comet, and has attempted, and is still attempting to, overthrow Zuko, either by outright overthrowing him, or by turning him into her puppet.
But to wrap things up, while it is tragic that that the Final Agni Kai had to happen, that Azula never got the help she needed after loosing, and that the Agni Kai is used to demonize Azula, the fact is that considering what Azula was fighting for, and the fact that Zuko needed all the help in legitimize his rule while also delegitimizing his main probable rival claimant and her potential to be a potent martyr if he did end up having to kill her, Zuko did the honorable and sensible thing by accepting Azula’s Agni Kai challenge.

Alternate ending of ATLA if there was a book 4: air, and Ozai was actually Vaatu, the dark avatar, a one-man team avatar, and the true instigator of Sozin's war:
Aang: Azula’s plan worked. Raava is now the spirit of darkness/chaos/yin as well as light/peace/yang, the spirit of balance itself. She can now also embody and control the sources of any/all bending.
Zuko: I don’t even know what to say.
Katara: You were incredible!
Toph: You pull off the craziest stunts.
Ty Lee: The way you turned all gigantic like that, wow! Just when we were losing, a miracle happened!
Mai: There’s never gonna be a dull moment with you, is there?
Sokka: Are the elemental spirits ok? Appa? Yue? My dad?
Aang: Yes. All souls that were absorbed, including Yue, Appa, and your dad, are now free and are going in peace. But I no longer draw power from the lion turtle spirits or elemental spirits, they all draw power from me.
Sokka: OK. Good. As long as they’re ok.
Suki holds onto Sokka’s arm and rests her head on his shoulder. Cut to Aang and Azula at the northern portal.
Azula: Now that you’ve reconnected with Raava, have you also regained your past lives?
Aang: No. That link is gone forever. I am now the first Avatar in a new line of Avatars.
Azula: You don’t say. Let’s just close the portals and call it a day.
Aang: (Reaches for the portal but stops and hesitates) Maybe I shouldn’t.
Azula: What makes you say that?
Aang: I think with the spirit portals opened, it’ll restore the ancient balance between our world and that of the spirits and it’ll help eliminate the illusion of separation that divided us for so long. Appa’s physical body may be dead but I can still sense his spirit. Iroh’s spirit is here too. Everyone we’ve ever loved and lost. What do you think?
Azula: You’re the avatar, this is your type of situation, whatever your decision is, I’ll support you.
Aang looks at the portal and smiles. Cut to the rest of the gang gathering together in front of the third middle portal. They all collapse in exhaustion. Zuko and Katara held on to each other, Sokka and Suki did the same thing as well as Aang and Azula.
Zuko: I can’t believe a year ago me and my sister’s purposes in life were competing against each other and hunting you down. And now…
Aang: And now we’re all getting along.
Zuko: Yeah…we are.
Aang: I can’t believe a year ago I was still frozen in a block of ice. The world’s so different now.
Zuko: Yeah…
Katara: The fight is finally over. But how long will this peace last? So much chaos and death have happened. I can’t help but feel like we’re the only ones left.
Azula: (To Aang) Hippie, what do you think? Are we the last ones alive?
Aang entered the avatar state and put his hand on the ground. After a few moments, he went back out of the avatar state.
Aang: No. Less than 50% of all living creatures in the physical world manage to survive but they’re all headless. All of their homes and establishments have been destroyed. No nations to govern them. No rulers to lead them. Every member of the white lotus and the original benders are all still dead.
Azula: That’s where we come in. We’re the only ones left alive who know the goals of the white lotus, so it’s up to us to complete them. The white lotus and the original benders shall be reborn through us. (To Aang) Any bright plans that you would like to share regarding that?
Aang: Even though we should learn from those who came before us, we must also forge our own path. So, as we rebuild, we should announce that we are bringing back the era of energybending and give everyone a choice to bend more than one element like me, I'll continue to be the avatar only because of my avatar spirit. This may blur up the avatar cycle but the avatar being able to reincarnate at all is good enough for me. The portals will also remain open, which means I will no longer be the bridge between the two worlds. Humans, spirits, benders, non-benders, nations, and elements will all learn to live together as one, with all of us leading them. Things will never be the same again, we are entering a new age.
Everyone nods and stands back up. They all look at the third portal. Pan to the sky, which is filled with spirits. All are flying and dancing in the sky.

Renault 8 Gordini
It all started with the Renault 8. In 1962 Renault presented the one that was to replace its best-seller, the Dauphine. The new car takes up the recipe and even the technical basis. The differences come from the style, with a squarer and more modern line. Above all, under the hood of the small sedan we housed the new "Sierra" engine that appeared on the Caravelle and Florida. The following year, a slightly more upscale version was added: the Major. But it still lacks an even superior version, especially in terms of mechanics. It is also from the Major that the story of the Renault 8 Gordini will start. It is she who will lend him her body and the base of her engine: the Cléon-cast iron with 1108 cm³ of displacement. Then we will affix the treatment undergone by the Dauphine Gordini: a mixture of increased performance and top of the range.
We will start with this high-end part. Because the Renault 8 Gordini is not a stripped-down bombinette ready to make any sacrifice to gain a few seconds on the clock. That's the pilots who will do it. Thus the interior is well treated: complete instrumentation with tachometer, water temperature, all with round counters which are then the prerogative of the top of the range. There is also interior lighting, a grab handle for the passenger, two-speed heating and a laminated windshield. Add faux leather or black fabric upholstery to the reclining seats and you're a long way from the stripped-down car. The sporty side, we're starting to take the measure of it on the outside. The body is identical to that of the Major. Make no mistake, the four lighthouses won't arrive until later! However, additional lights can be added, pre-wiring is standard. On the other hand, the Renault 8 Gordini is only offered in "bleu de France" (418) with white stripes. And it's sporty! But the real sport, you get it at the technical level. The body is still reinforced, at the side members, the front cross member and a reinforcement bar is added to the engine support. The trains are reinforced at the level of their triangles, the springs are shorter and the rear train receives two shock absorbers. We finish the table with a more direct direction with 3.25 turns lock to lock. And what about the "real" sorcerer's touch then? It is of course on the engine of the Renault 8 Gordini that Amédée Gordini worked. The base is therefore the 1108 of the Major. However, it is the high engine that will be the center of all attention. We start with the hemispherical cylinder head, with a spark plug in the center and a valve on each side. We do not stop there since the Cléon is force-fed by two double-body Solex 40 PHH2, the air box, the air filter and the ignition are specific. Last modification and not the least, we add an oil cooler. Everything transmits the power of 77.5 hp DIN (or 95 SAE if you want) to the rear wheels via a box 4.
Unveiled at the 1964 Paris Motor Show, the Renault 8 Gordini caused a sensation. It is a top-of-the-range car, but it is above all its performance that makes it stand out. The car exceeds 170 km / h, which no French car, apart from the Facel Vega and their big American V8, can boast. Renault has calculated its move well since the Renault 8 Gordini is also cheaper than a Mini Cooper S or a Cortina Lotus. A real masterstroke that makes it the first "bombinette", the first affordable sports car derived from a large series. The injection is far, but the name GTI not so much!

'The cast of Oppenheimer laughed and joked with one another at the UK premiere for the film – moments before walking out on strike.
Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr and more hit central London on Thursday night for the star-studded European premiere of the eagerly-anticipated film.
However in a shock move, each of the stars left halfway through as the actors’ strike was officially confirmed, with talks breaking down after weeks.
Director Christopher Nolan told the cinema’s audience the actors had left after the red carpet, ‘to write their picket signs for what we believe to be an imminent strike by Sag, joining one of my guilds, the Writers Guild, in the struggle for fair wages for working members of the unions, and we support them.’
Fans had indeed seen the A-listers on the red carpet just moments before, with the cast looking absolutely stunning – and appearing in majorly high spirits – before joining the picket line.
Emily and Florence shared a cuddle and a laugh on the carpet, clinging on to each other in a fit of giggles, with Florence’s hands around Emily’s waist.
Emily was later snapped with leading man Cillian, looking mock-serious as he offered a smile to cameras, her arm over his shoulder and his hand on her waist.
The cast appeared relaxed and happy as they posed together, with the imminent strike seemingly far from their minds, as in one photo they were all caught mid-laugh.
RDJ in particular was seen messing around with fans and for the cameras, giving thumbs up, grinning and almost dancing around the red carpet.
Florence looked absolutely divine in a flowing red dress, eerily blending in with the poster of the film showing a devastating explosion, as striking as ever with her shorn blonde hair and dark eye makeup.
A Quiet Place star Emily oozed glamour in a black dress pointedly cut out to show off her body, her legs visible through black tassels from her thighs to her feet, and matched with open-toed heels.
Cillian donned a smart black suit, with the black shirt semi-sheer, while Matt too opted for a well-cut black suit and plain white t-shirt underneath.
Given the stars’ demeanour on the carpet, excited fans watching on would never have expected they were about to cut the night short in solidarity with other strikers.
However both Matt and Emily had confirmed during the walk on the carpet that they intended to do just that if it came to it.
Matt told Variety: ‘Look, if it’s called now, everyone’s going to walk obviously in solidarity.
‘Once the strike is officially called, [we’re walking].
Emily shared the sentiment to Deadline, saying: ‘‘I hope everyone makes a fair deal, and we are here to celebrate this movie. And if they call it, we’ll be leaving together as cast in unity with everyone.
‘We are gonna have to. We are gonna have to. We will see what happens. Right now it’s the joy to be together.’
Their exit comes as US union Sag-Aftra confirmed its first major members strike in more than 40 years.
The US union and Hollywood studios failed to reach an agreement after more than four weeks of negotiations, with actors wanting better pay and increased safeguarding around artificial intelligence (AI) rights among their demands.
The union directed all its members to immediately stop working on all scripted film and TV around the world.
It is now anticipated the strike will affect upcoming award shows, premieres, events, and film festivals around the world, including the Toronto and Venice film festivals, and the 75th Emmys.
The likes of Doctor Who, Emily in Paris, House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and more huge 2023/2024 projects are also likely to be impacted.'

( 🔮 ) ꒪ᤱᰱ ✷BlackLotus
Black Lotus ( kr :: 검은 연꽃 ) , originally known as apocalypse, is a fictional south korean boy group formed under ellectic entertainment that was originally set  to debut in the year of 2014. As ellectic ent had formerly stated in the year 2014 Black Lotus or apocalypse at the time was to be composed of a seven member line-up. However due to several complications regarding the line-up and just the members in general the debut was postponed until 2016. When 2016 eventually rolled around the group’s line-up had grown immensely. The line-up changed from the solid plan of the seven members to a grand eighteen by the end of the year 2015.
Their group name, Black Lotus, is named after a special flower that to ancient romans, white and Black Lotus flowers symbolised present, past, future, life, death , and rebirth. Not only that but also darkness , death , sophistication , power , authority , and rebellion. All things the members of black Lotus have tried to embody with their concept. Each comeback at least mentions one of these topics in some form. Their overall concept often hints at a division within the group. Their plot mentioning that half of the group possessing the ability of Chronokinesis (the ability to manipulate the flow of time) and the other half obtaining Necroscience (the ability to manipulate the cause/communicate/know of death and the afterlife of others) and a heavily influential power making sure these two ability do not mingle. But sadly throughout the six years of their career the concept has slowly started to dwindle.
In the industry Black Lotus are known as a rather ‘redirecting’ group. The group has actually held a name for themselves since pre-debut but not for any good reasons. Their pre-debut era held many disturbing issues within the company and the overall care and well being of the members in black Lotus. All started when a former staff member from elletic spoke out about the violent behaviour of trainers and other staff members towards a handful of trainees. Following this after debut members Woobin, Miya, and Kangin spoke out about the mental and physical torment they received while training under the supervision of their past dance and vocal coach. After these three oughted their company, ellectic immediately followed up with saying the matter had been resolved and they would follow the proper procedures to make sure it would never happen again. This scandal led Black Lotus to gain a name for themselves within the industry in the first three weeks of their debut. People reached out to speculate and created conspiracies about the group's trainee days.
Black Lotus follows the heavy genres of mostly edm, alternative, electronic and noise music. Their sound matches their chosen concept very well and adds to their overall lore and stability as a group. The group has come accustomed to being recognised by their fiery earthy like aesthetic that follows an almost like traditional horror and ethereal space. just as well the group is just as easily recognised as their scandals to their empowering and whimsical stage presence. The quote ‘gracefully walking dead idols’ was created to describe the group's stage presence and follow their concept of past, present, and future. The pretty side and emotional side of being unliving.

How would you change the prison's conditions of the Red Lotus into more humane while keeping them secure?
Well, I think the first critical thing to acknowledge when dealing with this issue is that fiction is created by people. You can't use Watsonian reasoning to refute a Doylist issue. It would have been easy for the writers to imagine a non-horrific way of restricting bending, like a drug which suppresses the ability to bend or some sort of technological device which does the same. Instead, the writers came up with the horrific and cruel "solutions" they could imagine, and the fact that ATLA specifically called out the methods used as awful and cruel only makes the situation worse.
Now, to give a more in-universe answer, what the Red Lotus members (particularly P'Li and Ming-Hua) were subjected to was so horrific that anything would be better. If we inserted the slightest bit of realism into the situation, their conditions would result in a slow and torturous death, so even just executing them would be more merciful. In fact, it would be relatively easy to confine Zaheer and Ghazan in more humane conditions. Zaheer was a good fighter, but he wasn't even a bender. Suki, Ty Lee, Mai, etc. were very skilled, but the Fire Nation had no real issue imprisoning them in fairly conventional prisons, and Zaheer could easily be held somewhere where he wasn't kept alone and in darkness 95% of the time. Likewise, Ghazan isn't a metal bender, so imprisoning him in an offshore rig with more humane accommodations shouldn't be difficult.
P'Li and Ming-Hua pose greater issues. I think putting a strong metal lock over her third eye is a fairly effective way to prevent her from combustion bending, but her firebending abilities pose a greater challenge. On the other hand, it worth noting that the Fire Nation of the Hundred Year's War was able to imprison even fairly powerful firebenders without much expectation of issues.
I can't think of any real obvious way to counter Ming-Hua, but it has occurred to me that some form of remote-controlled shock collar might be effective with all the Red Lotus benders. It does seem possible to chi-block someone without actually disabling their movements, so keeping Ming-Hua, P'Li, and Ghazan continuously chi-blocked could be possible. It isn't ideal for obvious reasons(!) but again anything is better than how they were treated in canon. I suppose you also might be able to individually maroon at least a couple members on some remote, deserted island.
And if the White Lotus "regretted" the "necessary" cruelty but were "forced" into it by a lack of alternatives, they could have always asked Korra to remove the bending of the Red Lotus members as a way to ease their confinement. Korra became able to energybend at the end of Book 1, and it was six months between that and the beginning of Book 2.
In any case, what it really comes down to is that the writers chose to write the "good guys" engaging in just about the maximum possible amount of cruelty.
