I humbly present this screenshot alongside the theory that Raine might take over as the leader/monarch of the Boiling Isles at the end of all this. I rewatched this ep, and- to my knowledge--no one else lined up with those banners. No one else looked like they were wearing a crown.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure if it's just the crew loving raine and being like "omg monarch of my heart," a coincidence, or foreshadowing/symbolism. but i AM sure that the Owl House Crew has added in a ton of visual cues to make up for shortened runtime (and also just because theyre cool) so I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up to mean something.

something i noticed while rewatching elsewhere and elsewhen
Tumblr media
Okay so here Lilith talks about how she’s trying to calculate the location of the time pools, right? But it’s implied that The Boiling Isles shifted to the empirical system (obvi a pun on imperial) sometime within recent history.
The only event that I can think of that might’ve led to this change is Belos’s rise to power, as he’s the only person in TBI who even knows what a “foot” is. So what I’m kinda getting is that one of the first things Belos did when he became emperor was just. Force everyone to use the imperial system. Which is fucking hilarious to me can u imagine being a witch in 1970 and suddenly this guy with a weird mask makes it illegal to do wild magic and also you have to start using inches. I’d be so confused.
He probably did it just bc he’s lazy too. Bro got sick of trying to figure out what the fuck ppl were talking abt and proceeded to overhaul the entire mathematical system. This is a piece of underrated foreshadowing why haven’t I seen a single person talk abt this???

Thinking about how the Collector is the perfect foil for Luz. Like he also just got thrust fully into this new exciting world and is so excited to meet and play with everyone, much like Luz was when she first entered the boiling isles. Hell, they even take to King and Eda in a very similar way to her when first meeting them (finding eda cool and wanting to befriend King). Add to that, that the collector’s powers are the ultimate childish escapist dream. Like, never having to grow up/change + have responsibilities and just play all day because you’re literally god? Tell me S1 E1 Luz would not have been at least very tempted by that prospect. Not to mention how LONELY both the collector and season 1 Luz were. Like, the collector was only really exposed to Belos, but you can’t tell me both of these kids (?) didn’t experience that others wanted them to act mature and “normal” and “think inside the box”, when they themselves simply did not want to because they were happier beeing themselves. (Which is also why I think violence is not gonna be the answer to defeating the collector.)
But there is one difference: Luz has empathy. She marvels at the world and is very trope savy, but she also didn’t see the people in this magic world she has been transported to as like..npcs/characters. She sees them as real people not as amusement, the world as a real world and herself not as better than them. Meanwhile the collector’s power is transforming people into dolls/toys.
Furthermore, Luz isn’t S1 E1 Luz anymore. She has changed, she has matured. The trauma and stress and guilt and everything kinda beat that out of her. Saying her childlike wonder is gone sounds too bleak, but surely it has shrank a lot.
I just- S2 feels like she reached the end of the typical fantasy hero adventure by defeating Belos and arriving home changed. S3 is shaping up to be like a very.. “meta” kind of battle. I don’t know if that word fits but y’know, I hope what I mean comes across alright. Something something battling the worst outcome of a past version of you’s traits, something something having to fight against the childlike wonder you’ll never fully get back and is it never fully returning a bad or a good thing, which in turn could serve as a critique to isekai/adventure fantasy plots in general.

there are many things within the plot/lore of the owl house that i’m very curious about that i’ll probably make in another post. but i want to focus on one in particular. not sure if someone else has touched on it though but! well:
eda’s curse. (this post will contain spoilers, if you can’t already tell!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i had a feeling from the start that eda’s curse wasn’t simply part of her character. a curse that affects and drains magic? no way that it wouldn’t play an integral part to the plot, especially as we find out about belos/philip’s true intentions.
there appears to be a lot of parallels, which lead me to realise that there must be a connection. eda’s curse drains magic. sounds familiar? yeah, the draining spell. not only that, but the visual parallels as well:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the eclipse — the literal one on the day of unity, and of eda’s gem. more foreshadowing (i love when creators do this i love you dana terrace & team)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and adding on… the similarities in decaying (??) when the draining occurs, actively. also, why is eda the only one physically decaying this way? is it because of the double action of her draining curse and the draining spell?
and last but not least… the collector being behind it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not to mention, that this half and half/eclipse motif seems to be linked to the collector. i also want to point out how when eda seemingly feels the collector’s ‘awakening’, the emphasis is on her grey eye instead of her (lighter-coloured) yellow one. the focus is on her ‘magic drained’ eye, for lack of better description
Tumblr media
there rarely is heavy focus on her grey eye, unless i’m mistaken.
which leads me to believe that the collector likely the creator of this curse, or concept of magic draining. (is that what he collects? magic in its rawest form?? hm.) her curse is very likely linked to the draining spell somehow, through the collector, and i feel like the collector is going to be dealing or acknowledging eda’s curse somehow later on.
which then made me think… where and how does the owl and the owl beast come in? thought Thunking but, draining spell implies that the magic has to go somewhere — if the moon (or whatever is covering the sun) is doing the eclipsing and thus draining the magic (we can see the magic sorta shooting towards it when being drained) does that make the moon some sort of siphon, or where magic would be ‘stored’? does that mean that the owl beast is the moon to eda’s sun, and is somehow ‘holding’ her magic? just thoughts just thoughts

WAIT WAIT WAIT I was being silly when I remembered that in the king's tide post-hoot, Dana described the in-between realm as a "cosmic glue" made up of...(and I'm paraphrasing here so if someone wants to swoop in w/ a clip or a quote I'd be grateful)...DREAMS. couple that with the shot of Luz entering the portal plus the episode title and while I doubt the gang has literally been thrusted into the in-between I think it's not impossible that the in-between and the figure in it from ftf is playing some kind of role (and this could possibly even be the place to reason with the collector, as it'd be a vulnerable moment of connection and reflection in the place where they felt the most powerless and thus have the least room to hide from others or bulldoze over their words and reason).
Not sure if this is anything particularly juicy or even relevant BUT i do want to keep it in mind before the episode

Hey while we’re all speculating about Hunter’s hands and what’s up with them—he’s also really bad at typing.
It could be because he’s never had to type on a scroll before… but I haven’t heard anybody bring it up in terms of his hands being possibly wonky ;)

Caleb, Evelyn and Flapjack
So with the new episode, we’ve learned more about Caleb Wittebane and the witch that lured him away, Evelyn Lastname.
After learning briefly of the Wittebane’s history in Yesterday’s Lie, the fandom believed that both Philip and Caleb came together to the Demon realm, accidently trapping themselves much like Luz did.
However, I’ve always been of the opinion that at least Caleb traveled between the realms several times. My evidence for this being both the statues which have been shown looking like Hunter and having the same hair as both him and Belos, and the cardinal (which we all assumed was Calebs) on Calebs shoulder in the book Jacob showed Vee in Yesterday’s Lie.
I believed, Caleb and Evelyn set the portal to the Wittebane’s old home (the shack) and stuck around long enough for an accurate description of them for the statue and for the cardinal to stick out for that book.
Now in Thanks to Them, it’s heavily implied that when the brothers crossed over they were never heard from again, which would invalidate my guess.
But then the statue wouldn’t make sense, cuz why would there be an adult description of two orphans that went missing? The cardinal wouldn’t make sense, cuz how would humans know of the palisman if they never returned? And how would Flapjack know where to find that map to the Titan’s blood if he never spent significant time in the human realm. And if flapjack was Evelyn’s palisman then why is he named after a human food?
But all this information we received? Its simplified.
It’s all presented like Caleb met Evelyn and immediately left for the Demon Realm.
Instead, what if it was gradual?
Evelyn visiting over a period of years, a relationship with Caleb growing naturally, A gift of a cardinal palisman, hiding both the relationship and Evelyn’s nature from Philip as best they can.
Which would eventually come out, Philip threatens to bring the whole witch hunting town down on top of them forcing Caleb and Evelyn to flee back to the Demon Realm with Philip being the only person brave enough to follow
This puts them firmly in adult age when they disappeared, resolves flapjack’s name and how the humans know of him, shows how flapjack knows of the map, And sets up a feeling of betrayal big enough for Philip to actually murder his brother, while the town knows most of the story behind them.
As for the shack, if Evelyn is a Clawthorne like people suspect then it’s not too big of a leap to think whichever ancestor made the portal knew of Calebs old home and set up the portal correspondingly

TOH Theory: I think King’s DAD trapped the Collector and King is the key to stopping them!
Tumblr media
Despite the scam of it all, the Titan Trappers did do ONE thing right; They caused King to establish an important connection to the Collector, which might help reveal some secret details 🤯 about the Day of Unity (only 1 week away!!!) and even the Collector’s WEAKNESSES later down the line...
Tumblr media
However, it’s so messed up how there’s a whole secret ISOLATED community out there whose sole dedication is to lure King in, sacrifice him just to release an evil spirit into the world 😮
Also, the Collector aka the Grand Huntsman being revealed to be the one who had killed all the titans in the Boiling Isles was truly shocking!
Tumblr media
That explains why the Collector is being trapped under the skull of that huge titan! So I speculate that King’s dad who is probably still alive out there was the TITAN who trapped the Collector there!
But Belos having spoken so highly about the Titan all this time is interesting to me 🤔 since we now know the Collector appears to be so against titans. There seems to be a HUGE conflict of interest going on...
I predict that we will see King’s dad sooner or later despite the fake out in this episode. Team TOH will definitely need his help and experience to stop them. We just need to wait and see...👀

"Don't scare him away."
It's nice to see that Luz's first instinct was that "If Hunter is out and about, and if Amity sees him it'll be kill on sight, so make sure she doesn't add on to the pain he's already in."

Someone else pointed this out in the comments of some video I was watching.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They said that the bow/ribbon on his bag (that, might I add, looks a lot like Luz's) might be an awareness ribbon because if you look at this awareness ribbon photo I stole from google, you'll see some colours that look similar to the one Hunter has.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anti-Bullying Awareness
OCD
Panic Disorder
PTSD
Child Abuse
And Crime Victim's Rights (??)
They said that the ribbon might represent child abuse. I just underlined any that maybe maybe be the colour. What do y'all think?

if we assume that the Collector from Knock Knock Knocking on Hooty’s Door is separate to our Collector I wonder if turning things into puppets is our collectors unique form of collecting things and turning things into scrolls and curses is this bigger collectors version

Musings of the Collectors
Truth be told I have a minor theory about the Collectors. They're not entirely immortal and what I mean by that is that if it wasn't a war that destroyed them, they may have lifespans akin to that of actual stars and that's a good million to billion years though maybe just a million. I theorize that the Collector with the red star on their hood was/is the oldest among the Collectors. Red Giant stars are entering the end phase of their life and they were the first. Second came the planet Collector, this one was created by Red and had some of the basics of being a star but developed more as a "failed star" much like the gas giants of our own solar system. I.E they weren't the same as the original. They also probably take the most punches out of all of them and is the acting guardian/enforcer. (Based on the theory that Jupiter, a gas giant, essentially protects much of the solar system from asteroids) Third came Yellow Star, came into existence much like Red and the favored one by Red since they're much like and is spoiled as such. As such they act like they're the center of the universe. Possibly the brains behind the scorched earth method. The Moon, created from the actions of Yellow, a piece of a planet that absorbed some of the magic left behind and becoming a Collector themselves. Quiet and often orbiting around the others watching closely. They were probably the most lenient with the child Collector.

Me trying to find out the connection between Hooty and the Golden Guard

Like cmon CMON Luz literally becomes part titan i get the foreshadowing here yes but like this mask that has been used for centuries just HAPPENS to look like if Hooty rubbed a magic eraser too hard NO CONNECTION?!?! Like how long has the owl house been standing?? It probably runs in Edas family! Edas family you say?! Who do we know that has a connection to Edas ancestors?!? HM. MAYBE THE CLONE?! This show loves to rub foreshadowing in our faces i know theres no show to foreshadow anymore but damnit theres something there and my lorde i will find it.

I just noticed something! :O
In this picture we see collectors and titans but one of the titans has wings and it’s protecting the other titans.
Tumblr media
And in This one it’s the same titan but it seems to be fighting against king’s dad! And the titan that has wings took king cuz there’s an egg, king’s dad is fighting against them so he could get king back.
(Perhaps the titan that has wings is the leader of the titans?)
Tumblr media
In this one! THIS WHAT SEEMS TO BE A TITAN AND THEY HAVE WINGS! what if kings dad fought against the titan that took king and trapped them in the between realm so they won’t take king again?? Or maybe they were dangerous to be left on the isles?(Although they look wayyy shorter in this one)
Tumblr media
The collector we know and love even said this!
What if king’s dad trapped multiple people in there?
Tumblr media
Okay so let’s just say that when the collectors fought against the titans and wiped out almost everyone of them, the titan’s leader wanted to hide king or something so the titans species won’t go extinct but king’s dad didn’t want anyone to get close to his son so he hid him instead and didn’t let anyone know where (probably cuz the leader wasn’t a great person) and he trapped all the powerful beings in the between realm, including the collector. He probably saw the collector as a threat because they had powers that could destroy realities and time. We don’t know for sure if king’s dad and the collector used to be friends or not but we know that the collector knows of king’s existence before king even got out of the egg, so if his dad hid him he probably trusted the collector at one point or something but found out they’re too reckless and too powerful to be left on the isles so he trapped them away from everyone and everything, probably so they won’t hurt anyone.
But it’s just a theory and it might not even be correct, I need to rewatch some episodes to make sure if this one even correct or not.

So does this make Hunter a witch now? I mean he no longer has grimwalker eyes. Or more human then witch. Hopefully we’ll see when they get to the boiling isles. This is my theory and until proven otherwise this is what I believe
