Do you think Aziraphale is the literal origin of the damsel in distress trope or did he get the idea from reading books

edit: please read my additions at the bottom before reblogging this post. please do not reblog this post without also reblogging the others i've linked!
if you saw my reblog(s) of ahmed's donation posts in which he includes his crypto wallets (and my links to those posts), anyone else's posts explaining how to donate to him using those wallets, or any aid post that mentions his ability to accept cryptocurrency and decided to villianise him and accuse him of being hamas for it... you are repulsive. you are not welcome here.
people are dying. paypal and ko-fi take percentages. paypal has a monthly withdrawal limit. i'm the first to admit i know nothing about cryptocurrencies, but ahmed has said it goes directly to him without a service taking a cut. i assume there are fewer or no withdrawal limits. it is harder to track and less regulated, which, in this case, provides an additional layer of security for people being precision targeted. get over it.
anyway. donate to ahmed's ko-fi. donate to ahmed's paypal. follow ahmed @90-ghost for updates on how to help him, and check his ko-fi and tumblr posts for updates. send him a nice ask. reblog his posts depicting he and his family's life in gaza. read tumblr user neaeach (naoual sahe)'s interview with ahmed. bring hope. listen to palestinians, don't speak over them.
ahmed's reblog of his interview, with a link to it:
direct link to the interview:
edit: i don't need reblogs, but palestinians, muslims, arabs, and other people suffering directly due to zionism and islamophobia do! please reblog their posts!! @el-shab-hussein has also made a post about these accusations against ahmed, which @fairuzfan added onto. and please reblog this post with ahmed's latest ko-fi update and all the ways you can DIRECTLY donate to him! thank you

Steve having a sexuality crisis is all good angst and realistic writing, and Steve having known for a while and being confident and learned is great too, but I love Steve “just skipped the crisis part” Harrington.
Because really, who gives a shit if he’s gay when he’s fought monsters?
His best friend is a lesbian, and he loves her, so it’d be hypocritical not to accept this part of himself.
He’s had to protect his friends from mind demons with Kate Bush songs, this is not even a blip in the crazy shit he’s had to deal with.
One of his children friends has telekinetic powers and can go into your mind to figure out your location and save you from giant spider demons.
He almost died, everyone he loves almost died, who cares?

The one where Danny is perfect balance. He only has ecto levels when transformed. And doesn’t have any human dna as phantom.
Useful for hiding.
Bad when the anti ecto acts pass and the Giw begin to collect any contaminated citizen. Bigger problem when Danny is the only amity Parker not contaminated.
The GIW had announced they will begin decontamination on the citizens. Danny was held for a while but never showed any signs of contamination.
This leading to Danny being placed in the custody of some unsuspecting outsider.
It’s definitely a coincidence that the new city Danny has been forcefully moved to suddenly has the appearance of phantom. The GIW most wanted.
Definitely not a cause for concern when phantom starts hunting down villians and heros alike trying to convince anyone the GIW is conducting experiments on the contaminated. Not trying to cleanse them like they claimed.

“When toxic behavior is portrayed as romantic, it’s problematic. When problematic behavior is portrayed as a character flaw for a character to work through, it’s good storytelling.”
Katsuki Bakugou, my friends.
His behavior was problematic but never once portrayed as romantic at the same time. Katsuki said and did awful abusive things, and he also chose to be better when he was given the chance. If you’re still hung up on chapter 1 Katsuki now then I don’t think you’ve been reading the same story I have.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m not shipping Izuku with an irredeemable abuser. I’m shipping him with his most important person. His narrative foil. His childhood friend who made awful mistakes and then made it right when he saw he was wrong. The person Izuku looks up to and strives to emulate, despite their past struggles.
Bakudeku is so good because of how flawed these boys are, and how hard they’ve worked to get over it, and how much they matter to each other after it all

"we're gonna be really late, y'know?" you whisper against nanami's shoulder, your words cut off by a sudden gasp that slips out of your lips without you realising. once your breath steadies and your shaking thighs can support you again, you continue. "the reservation is at seven, and it's nearly --"
"then we'll be late," he replies, pressing an adoring kiss against the crown of your head, "they can wait."
even now, he seems effortlessly composed. the only hint of any loss of control is how his chest rises and falls slightly faster than normal, paired with the faintest pink flush spreading across his cheekbones. besides that, he seems completely unperturbed at the idea of missing a reservation at his favourite restaurant.
"that's out o-of character," you mumble fondly, feeling the fabric of the couch imprint against your knees as you lower yourself down again, your grip on nanami's bare shoulders leaving little crescent-moon indentations on his skin. "you-you're the punctual one, aren't you?"
a shift of his thighs beneath your own and his hips are pressed flush against yours, the thrust knocking the air from your chest.
"the difference is," he says, deep voice hushed but tinged with barely-concealed lust, "that i only watch the clock for things i don't like doing. and right now, i can't think of any place else i'd rather be than-" - he pulls out, letting air back into your lungs, before grabbing your hips and speeding up the rhythm until your vision blurs, "- right here, with you looking so pretty on top of me."

Y’all remember the days when Belos was just the funky mysterious masked villain with the sans eye. Remember when Little Miss Perfect dominated both the fandom and Amity Blight as a character. Remember when some of us were genuinely worried Eda would die in the S1 finale. Remember when we all hated Lilith with a seething passion. Remember when Luz’s biggest issue was just trying to figure out day-to-day Boiling Isles life. Remember when, save for the finale, Understanding Willow and Enchanting Grom Fright were the episodes we all lost our minds over.

also. the thing is that while i know eddie would never be homophobic or uncomfortable with buck, a lot of well-meaning folks often do say and do the wrong things in an attempt to help. so buck coming out to the people he loves could have gone a lot of different ways, not all of them being ideal despite everyone loving buck so much and wanting nothing other than the best for him. the potential is always there for someone to say something wrong, to react with a line of questioning or confusion. regardless of the love that's undeniably there, people will mess up. and it's okay, you know? it's to be expected when sharing a side of yourself that's new to the people around you.
BUT. what eddie did. the way he didn't miss a beat to reassure buck that no, this does not make you weird. this does not change a thing between us. i will never treat you differently. and you might be an idiot, but you're my idiot, my best friend. and i love you. the way he didn't shy away from talking about buck's interest in tommy but also didn't treat it as some huge announcement. my jaw was on the fucking floor, because he did every single thing right. he said every single thing that buck needed to hear in order for him to feel safe and comfortable sharing this with his best friend. he made buck feel....normal. not alienated, not different. eddie made buck feel like he's still buck, just more open. more true to himself. and still so loved.
and i'm so utterly grateful that we got to see that unconditional and instant acceptance. eddie diaz, the man you are 💕🥹

(Star Wars: Crimson Reign #3 - The Archivist)
the concept of jedi as celebrities is so interesting to me, mostly because they're monks of an order whose philosophy is grounded on egoless service and humility. one jedi should be roughly the same as any other when sent on a mission, because the jedi serve the force. there may be slight differences in methodologies, yes, but fundamentally, they're not there to make a name for themselves as anything other than as representatives of the jedi order.
but of COURSE it makes sense that the galaxy would be obsessed with them. a mysterious group of wizards who use flashy swords and make peace through persuasive words and heroic deeds? of course people wrote books about them, watched shows about them, adults gossiped about them, and kids pretended to be them when playing. so the question of how all that knowledge was wiped away within a generation is a good one, and the comic presents a good answer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Star Wars: Crimson Reign #3 - The Archivist)
the earnest goodness of the jedi comes across to many as sanctimonious. they're too responsible with their power, too cool and restrained. they don't lash out with anger on behalf of those they love, you know? they don't smile enough, too serious. they're seen as the embodiment of "we have food at home" energy. the reality of the canonical order as gentle and joyful, surprisingly playful and open, isn't sexy enough to redeem their moral authority.
based on my inbox and the way people respond to some of my posts about the jedi, the resentment that this engenders in the population of the GFFA feels very real. there is actual HATRED directed toward this fictional group, irrational and out of all proportion. the comic suggests that people jump to hate those who make them feel guilty and self-conscious, because lashing out absolves yourself of confronting the reason you secretly know you'd be judged and found wanting, and that seems accurate.
i would insert a thousand examples here of the jedi not deserving this reputation, but the canon behavior of the jedi doesn't matter, the galaxy cheered as they died anyway and lots of fans love to hate on them. the mere concept of them and their philosophy is enough to alienate people, and i think that's a shame, but understandable. i'll love them enough to make up for it haha

I cannot believe people were so pissy about Assad’s casting as Armand, look at him —

In love with the idea of captain marvel being Billy's imaginary friend. Like, it'd be so easy. Early depictions had them as almost fully separate people sometimes, like one soul with two minds, rather than just two filters like we mostly see now.
But imagine a Billy down on his luck, hurt and hiding from police and criminals alike, daydreaming the hours away as children do, taking inspiration from all the superheroes rising to fame, making little stories to play out his dreams of saving the world with a generic action doll he found while dumpster diving once. Most of the paint's rubbed off.
Red's his favourite colour, his comfiest jumper is a bright ruby even after all the grime and washes. Gold, too, it's shiny and warmer than silver! A hero cape is a must, big and eye catching! And he can fly, of course, like superman, and in his daydreams, when he's sore and frustrated after a long day's grind, his superhero is smart enough and knows all the right words to get the bullies to stop without resorting to fighting.
His superhero fantasy is one he spends a lot of time on, the first one he goes for when struggling to sleep at night, and he can picture it so clearly. Captain marvel is big and bright and kind, strong enough to lift the boxes for the old lady up the road who's moving all by himself, fast enough to catch Jamie who fell out of the tree on Saturday and broke his leg and couldn't come to class for weeks. He appears at the entrance to alleys when Billy is cornered, he steps up behind to cover for him when he gets caught shoplifting, he sits at the bus stop with him when it's pouring rain and the right bus doesn't seem to be coming.
And then the wizard comes, or rather whisks him away, and like a magician from a fairytale breathes life into his imaginary friend until Billy feels thrice his size and a million times more invincible.
From then on, captain marvel is a real hero, just like Billy is a real boy, and as one they save the whole city, and then the whole world, and get cats down from trees and help Mrs Victoria move the last of her boxes and she gives them a pinch in the cheek and cookies for the road and sometimes it hurts but it's so much better than he imagined.
#dc comics#captain marvel#dc captain marvel#shazam#billy batson#imaginary friend#imaginary friend au#Billy's great because you can give him the most buck wild adventures with the most self indulgent plots and it makes perfect sense#Batman and superman are out here having mental health crisis no.528 and marvels away having dance offs with gnomes#Billy would fit perfectly into gravity falls he really would#Anyway imaginary friend au is near and dear because it encapsulates that sort of safe fantasy for change and companion ship#And a protective imaginary friend brought to life is going to be just a fascinating character no matter what#And it's the perfect cover for non imaginary cap anyway. Why does he prioritise this kid over everything despite having never mentioned him#Imaginary friends always have to care for their creator! But you can't expect an imaginary friend to do your taxes!#Why is cap so eternally kind and bubbly and a bit childish? That's because his creator is a kid! Duh!#This particular imaginary friend just so happens to have encountered magic and is now real enough to play basketball with asteroids.#He's strong enough to match superman but it's fine he's got a child's heart and an unending protectiveness for humanity.#Just don't try anything with the kid or you're toast.#I love the jl needing to save/help Billy in some way and cap; who's practically the jls puppy mascot at this point#Is just shamelessly and unrepentantly possessive of Billy while being openly wrapped around his finger. Number one fan#Like 'he's the specialist boy and if you don't clap for him I'm going to blow this whole building up' type#Have you read Split on ao3 it's like that. Cap is the most unaffiliated person on the team and then bam Billy is number 1 priority 100%#Go read split if you haven't 10/10#Like it never crosses caps mind to hinder or harm Billy he is Devoted. Platonic God/worshipper except the deity in question is an 11yo#And the worshipper is the closest thing to a deity without being one you can get in dc.#But like a healthy relationship lmao.#It's a soul deep claim with total freedom on both sides and they teach each other love and they're the same person#AUGH
