based off of voidpineapple​ ‘s post about roleswap stuff and i couldn’t help myself on making my own spin on it ehe (but the idea originated from void! please go to her)

the context is that mario, who’s the bad guy in this, wants to recruit / use the ol captain into his bidding and turn him into origami. then they have a battle! ode’s gimmick is that, well, it’s a water fight. it’s difficult and mario shouldn’t touch the water. something like that!

and whatever happens next is up to you. because why not

i really hope this looks like the beginning of a battle pfff ,, everyday i frown at my own art sigh

okay. ill be honest. looking back. i wished i wrote down my thoughts while drawing them because i only remember basic iceberg stuff, i went deep into brainrot bro haha

basically. paper gooigi anyone? reoccurring villain anyone? mans is sent to hunt down the origami siblings and their legion so their cause can be stronger! because 1) theyre the children of the funny old 1-up magic man 2) they are ORIGAMI. could easily help and blend in! 

idk. there were more deep reasons but i didnt write down stuff so bare with me here

old funny 1-up shroom dad is the damsel in distress, they keep him cause he has knowledge of some illegal origami prowess stuff. they COULD force him and turn him into an origami but for some reason it just dont work on the old man idk why. how did they get here? hell if i can remember aaaa

then los partner shenanigans.

makes me realise that stapler is the only one who’d be efficient in gathering toads for the battle arena thing (you know how you save toads and they all cheer for you in the battle spinning thing? kind of like that) because stapler in the game is the main lynchpin for holding the paper peeps as origami. everyone else would be very destructive and / or restrictive.

stapler can undo it! maybe! depends. olly n olivia might do a little magic here and there to help. ehe

in short. its a very fun au to think about and i love it. and now i dip for another week as i brainrot in silence

things we’re working on just for fun: hoop jumping, weave poles, tunnel

longterm cooperative care goals: train a lateral position for future blood draws, work on noise desensitization (does Sileo or Pexion work off-label on cats???), work on car travel desensitization, train voluntary pill taking. 

we made a huge stride in grooming recently, when I realized that rather than periodically rewarding her during the process for putting up with it, I could just put a spreadable treat on a plate to distract her while I comb her out. so now I get a nonstop chorus of annoyed grumbling through the sound of enthusiastic nomming, which is 1. adorable, and 2. a significant improvement over getting swatted every time she doesn’t like the way the comb pulls on her fur.

Epilepsy

Forebrain disease. Recurrent seizures which are stereotypical (same every time) and occur when the animal is relaxed.

Focal seizures = 1 cerebral hemisphere --> isolated body part twitch. Generalised seizures = symmetrical activity in both hemispheres --> tonic clonic seizures with loss of consciousness. Tonic = continuous limb contracture and irregular respiration. Clonic = paddling/ chewing/ jerking.

Prodromal period --> ictus --> postictal. May be transient ataxia/ blindness/ disorientation in the postictal phase. Interictal = period between seizures - health and behaviour should be totally normal.

Idiopathic epilepsy = first seizure 6m-6yo, normal interictal period, NAD On haematology and biochemistry. Intracranial causes of epilepsy = brain tumour (suspect if >6yo at first seizure), GME, head trauma, infectious disease, congenital malformation. Extracranial causes of epilepsy = hepatic encephalopathy, hypoglycaemia, ivermectin toxicity, metaldehyde toxicity, hypocalcaemia.

To diagnose idiopathic epilepsy you need to make some effort to exclude other causes - bloods, MRI, history etc.

Treatment aims to: decrease frequency and severity of seizures, delay progression, decrease side effects and increase QoL. Treat any underlying disease first. The animal will still have fits even through they are being treated - if there are no breakthrough seizures in 6m wean them off the medication and investigate if they were ever really epileptic.

Treat if: there is more than 1 seizure per month (unless they do not effect QoL ie mild focal seizures); the seizures decrease QoL (unless they are very infreaquent), there is a history of status epilepticus or clusters (unless seizures are very mild and infrequent), seizure frequency or severity is increasing (unless treatment reduces QoL more than the seizures do).

Phenobarbitone - need a high dose (serum levels should be at the high end of the therapeutic range) and good compliance. Monitor serum levels and increase the dose over time. Side effects = PUPD, polyphagia, ataxia, hepatotoxicity.

Imepitoin = no hepatoxocity or drug reaction.

Potassium bromide = need loading dose, renal excretion. Do not use in cats. Side effects = vomiting, ataxia, PUPD, polyphagia, pancreatitis.

Clusters = >2 seizure in 24h - treat by adding an adjunctive to the maintenance or giving pulse keppra or pexion.

Status epilepticus = seizure lasting >5m or not regaining consciousness between seizures - life threatening - treat with rectal/ IV diazepam (then get a blood sample for diagnostics), IV loading dose phenobarbitone, IV keppra, IV imepitoin, load potassium bromide over 5d. If it continues give CRI keppra or induce a propofol coma.

FDA Approves Pexion for Treating Noise Aversion in Dogs. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that its Center for Veterinary Medicine has approved Pexion (imepitoin tablets) to treat noise aversion in dogs. Dogs with noise aversion are sensitive to loud noises such as fireworks, street/traffic noises, and gun shots. Dogs may show their distress through hiding; vocalizing (whining, barking, howling); panting, shaking or trembling; or may vomit, urinate or defecate. Some dogs may damage furniture, doors, dog beds, or other items in their surroundings. The effectiveness of Pexion was evaluated in a study of client-owned dogs that had previously demonstrated noise aversion behaviors in response to fireworks. The dogs received either Pexion or a placebo twice daily for two days prior to New Year’s Eve, when fireworks events were scheduled to be held. Treatment continued through New Year’s Eve. The owners evaluated their dogs’ responses to the fireworks at four pre-set intervals and scored the level of 16 different behaviors.
