How about MCU wongstrange? What was your first impression of them? Any headcanons?

I want to to know more, of what you see. Because for me personally, I think I ship them after mom. And I wonder if I missed more than two moments or scenes that flew over me

You came to the right place. Because I jumped on the WongStrange Bandwagon before No Way Home I’ve had plenty of time to analyse past content and also pick out bits from recent films which I thought were fruity!

I’ve just compiled the images in my camera roll because I can’t be bothered screenshotting and looking up all the scenes, I hope that’ll suffice!

Doctor Strange 2016

If I’m being completely honest, Mordo and Stephen have a better dynamic in this movie, but Wong still has his moments! Obviously the iconic Beyoncé scene, the weirdly tense library interactions, Stephen reviving Wong and Wong trusting him without hesitation etc etc. 

This deleted scene as well. Rolling on the floor crying. This also sort of confirms they’re living together in the sanctum now, so that’s also a thing.

Multiverse of Madness 2022 This movie was kinda shit, but we got some pretty decent bits all things aside. Their overall banter and dynamics are fantastic at times, and whoever made their outfit colors so fucking complimentary deserves a wet sloppy kiss.

Why are there so many shots of them looking at each other.

Honestly I can’t even describe this one. Why is he looking at him like that.

Christine tells him to face his fears so he immediately opens up a little to Wong and trusts him. Okay. Cool. Okay.

And of course the bow scene. Peak symbolism regarding his respect towards Wong and his growth as a man. His eyes remain fixed on Wong when he does this and I think they were insane for this. I fucking love this scene.

Infinity War

Not much content in this because Wong peaces out like two seconds into appearing, but we get some good shit in that time.

Matching battle stances are so romantic, boys.

That’s the only stuff I’ve got, but honorable mentions is that this further confirms Wong and Stephen now live together in the sanctum. The money and tuna melt banter at the start, Wong saying that the Hulk Ice cream is ‘our favorite’ implying ice cream nights and a conversation where they have confirmed to each other that that flavor is their favorites. Marvel I just want to talk, please, I just want to talk about Sanctum Sanctorum ice cream night please.

Endgame

I also don’t have any images for Endgame, but the fact that Wong likely organised the majority of the portal scene makes me yell. Due to Stephen reappearing on Titan (as seen in his entrance scene) it implies that he had to have had communications with Wong previous to dusting. Because of his lack of presence he wouldn’t have been able to have actually put anything into action, thus Wong has to be responsible for the most iconic scene in the MCU!!!

The fact that they’re such a power duo offscreen and unknowingly carry the whole battle is insane to me and no one talks about it.

No Way Home

Banger film. Great WongStrange moments.

Marvel tell us what happened at the full moon party IMPOSSIBLE edition.

Stephen using puppy eyes to fucking win Wong over to let him use a dangerous reality warping spell. You know, just a casual Tuesday. AHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH.

Also introduces Sorcerer Supreme Wong which I shat my pants about. I adore that they let him be Sorcerer supreme but dearly wish they took him more seriously. But we’re not here to talk about that. Onto the next.

What If…? Doctor Strange lost his heart and not his hands.

God I remember the soul shattering experience this was when it came out. The WongStrange content was surprisingly nourishing though.

‘We’ve’ been through weirder.

Stephen putting aside his crippling heartache for Christine just to save Wong? Like not even considering the actual rest of the world that’s fading outside? Okay. Cool. Cool. Okay.

Wong also is the one to comfort Stephen about Christine and is a part of the pinnacle point in time determining wether Stephen uses the timestone and turns into Strange Supreme or not. 

Now the second two aren’t technically a part of the MCU, but they are related to it. I don’t know where they’re to be put in the MCU category but they exist so I’ll consider them canon.

This book is just silly and goofy. No comments just read it for yourself.

Infinity War Prelude 2

This comic is so overlooked, and I don’t know why. The Doctor Strange Prelude is as well. They kinda do Wong dirty with the art, but the content is pretty cool. Also gives us an insight into Ragnorok and just how the sorcerers operate.

I just like them in this panel tbh. Stephen is kinda scrumpled.

Stephen pulling a John Watson with the “stop being mysterious” thing. Implying Wong has been cryptic and mysterious enough for Stephen to recognize this as a character attribute.

That’s all I have, honestly I’m too tired to come up with a capping off statement, but I hope this pile of various moments is enough! The MCU is yet to really explore their dynamic, and let alone Wong as a character, so I’m excited (and a bit afraid after MoM) to see where it goes!

still on the miles in the mcu series, there's a reason i haven't finished it...

the last work is called "and then you're left in the dust". it would take place after the battle in endgame. i don't picture miles joining tony and everyone else, bc tony and miles aren't as close as tony and peter were, and the man doesn't want the kid getting hurt, either, especially after what happened in infinity war. he tries to respect miles' privacy and safety.

anyway, miles one day gets a call from... his dad, who dusted five years ago. he almost thinks it's a prank. but it's rlly jeff, and he's so confused. miles has a tearful reunion with his long lost father... he doesn't even know if he should tell jeff about miles having powers now, even if rio knows.

either way, miles is relieved to find out that tony got out okay and so he visits his mentor/friend. he's shocked to see peter parker in the flesh again. except miles isn't a little kid anymore, and peter and miles are the same age now. peter doesn't recognize him at first. then tony properly introduces miles, and as this duo has fun together, peter starts feeling left out. peter also finds out how much morgan loves miles, but she's also excited to finally meet peter as she's wanted to meet spider-man all this time. except peter can't focus on that.

peter feels replaced and he fights with tony, which miles overhears. miles decides to take some time away from them bc he felt like was getting in the way. he asks his mother for help. she tells him he doesn't have to solve their problems, but he could at least try to open up with peter if he feels it's right. miles finds peter contemplating an old spider-man graffiti miles made, and the two actually have a good heart-to-heart, as miles reassures peter that he and tony never meant to replace who they lost. that they are more like friends or a casual mentor-mentee relationship. miles knows how much tony missed peter, too. and miles missed peter as well. he suggests they could team up and learn from each other.

and yeah, the miles & peter & tony trio would be established. i wouldn't write other fics for this series. but some plot points like the prowler being aaron or jeff knowing about miles' powers... i still haven't figured out what to do with them.

but rlly, the reason i'm scared of posting this is that ppl will probably say that peter replaced miles or that peter stole miles' story etc. which isn't actually true save for like, ganke who becomes ned in the mcu, but ppl can be very ignorant. just me writing miles interacting with tony or mcu peter already makes me hesitant to post with how hostile ppl can be.

anyway, i'm just venting here, i might get around to this one day but i'm not sure.

thinking about how the Duffers are going to pull an Infinity War on us with Vol.2, killing off half of the characters only for one specific character, who’s always had so much potential, has been connected to everything since the beginning and has had a connection to clocks/watches to save everyone in the show by rewinding time. Season 5 is our Endgame, and who’s going to bring everyone back? Will. Will is. He too is a sensitive kid who likes to draw just like Henry Creel, has had a (subtle yet noticeable) connection to clocks (especially due to his similarities to Henry Creel whose powers include time manipulation), was always deeply connected and targeted by the Upside Down but never killed, instead, used as a weapon, s3 having direct references to back to the future (a movie about time travel), Brenner insisting that El is not ready to save everyone once again in Vol.2, Dustin rolling an 11 not being enough to defeat Vecna in d&d but Erica rolling a 20 and being able to do what Dustin’s roll couldn’t while Lucas (Erica’s brother) saves the basketball game unexpectedly at the same time as Erica saves the Hellfire Club which indicates siblings duos = win duos (cough cough El not being able to defeat Vecna on her own and Will getting powers to help her), etc. Will is going to be our hero. Maybe not now, but surely later.

idk if you watch mcu films but hear me out; avengers champion au

like infinity war and endgame happens (maybe thanos is Giovanni? Except he just wants to snap the population for funsies and to be evil and assert his dominance or something)

im thinking maybe alder, hau, and Wallace get snapped?

so basically geeta goes for the time stone, steven the mind stone, Leon and iris are a tag team for the mind and space stone (mostly so Leon doesn’t get lost + they get both stones at the same time), Lance gets the power stone and Cynthia and Diantha for the soul stone.

most of them don’t really have reasons for why they get assigned to that stone (except for geeta bc time stone and paldea’s thing was past/future).

Ok time for the big event. So the soul stone requires a sacrifice (someone you’re close to / love). So what I imagine is that Cyn and Dia are at Vormir and get told the whole “soul for a soul” thing, and are conflicted about it. Likely they fight, since neither wants to watch the other die. Eventually though, Diantha is the one who sacrifices herself (listen the fallen angel imagery was too good to pass up), and Cynthia has more trauma lol.

it’d also be painful for lance too, since in endgame the people going for the power stone and soul stone basically went together, dropped the power stone duo off at the location, then headed to the soul stone. Lance is the power stone guy. So he was the last one to see Diantha alive other than Cynthia.

idk much abt Avengers I'm sorry but I know enough and like that last bit hurt me man c'mon I just finished my exams I deserve waffles with this at least😭🤣

Today’s speciality: Taking the concept of Gems, fusion and everything inbetween from Steven Universe and forcing it onto my favourite Irondad and Spiderson duo, because why the hell not. Like most gems his age, Peter had never fused before.

The process was too unpredictable, too focused and powerful for the mind of a distracted child. At least that’s what his teachers used to say, though it never stopped the boy from trying. It was his best friend Ned who had suggested they try way back when they were ten years old, just naïve little gems dancing and wrestling and tackling each other in a fit of giggles. Unfused maybe, but happy nonetheless.

Every gem had a gift, whether that be their brute strength or sharp mind or even their unique weapons. But fusion was the ultimate power, the combination of two or more gems that were truly in sync, merging all their gifts and personalities to create something entirely new! It was a truly incredible thing to witness.

And Peter would know, because he had seen the most powerful fusion of them all.

Just eleven years old and lost in the carnage of the attack on New York city, the young gem had been certain that invading aliens would shatter him before long, only to look up into the sky and see it: the Infinity Stones. A fusion created from the six most powerful beings in the whole colony, a group that now called themselves the Avengers. Together, they had vanquished the invading aliens with ease and saved the entire city, as well as the young gem who had watched on with utter awe.

The Infinity Stones, and in turn the Avengers, had forever cemented themselves into Peter’s mind from that moment onward. Even if the magnificent fusion was all but a memory in the wake of the Civil War…

But, if you had told Peter that one day he would not only be the intern, but the mentee of one of the Avengers themselves, then he wouldn’t have believed you. And if you had told him that said Avenger would also be the most infamous, fiery carnelian to ever emerge from the ground, Tony Stark, then he might have just laughed in your face.

And yet here he was, the proud intern of Tony Stark by day, and the masked mentee of Iron Man by night. Despite a rocky beginning, they made an incredible team together and Peter cherished any and all time he got to spend with the experienced gem. And though Peter didn’t want to get his hopes up, he got the feeling that Mr Stark enjoyed their time together too, though why the Avenger had ever picked a lowly celestite crystal like him was still a wonder.

“Stop hogging all the pizza, Parker,” Mr Stark smirked as he took another slice from the box. Just like every Friday night, the two gems were holed up in the lab working on their latest projects, accompanied by a side of greasy takeout and roaring music. Sometimes Peter still found it hard to believe that he was actually sitting there, side by side with the famed hero himself and bickering over stupid things like pizza, or figuring out complex equations and building the most wonderful machines. It was completely insane! And yet, somehow incredibly natural after so many months spent in each other’s company.

“You don’t even need food Mr Stark,” Peter was quick to tease.

“Neither do you Underoos, and yet here you are, eating all of my pizza,” Mr Stark shot back, blazing orange eyes that matched his vibrant gemstone narrowed at the boy.

“You call that eating all your pizza?” Peter said with a mischievous grin as he suddenly grabbed the last two slices and shoved them into his mouth, trying not to choke on laughter at his mentor’s mortified expression. “This is eating all your pizza,” Peter mumbled out through a mouthful of food.

Mr Stark’s eyes narrowed into a playful glare. “Ooh, you’re gonna regret that kid.”

That was the only warning Peter got before Mr Stark suddenly lunged forward and caught his intern in a strong headlock, tussling his curls wildly as the boy let out a cry of surprise. It wouldn’t have been hard to get out of the hold if he tried. Peter could shapeshift into a bug and slip away, or even use some of the defensive training that Mr Stark had been teaching him the past few months.

But hearing the carnelian’s booming laughter fill the air and the rumble of his mentor’s joy against the gemstone on his back, Peter couldn’t find it in himself to truly resist. Soon it was both their laughter drowning out the music, and Peter leant into the warmth of Mr Stark’s arms with a beaming grin, content to enjoy the moment. Enjoy the familiar comfort from the gem he loved like family…

And then -like a flash of lightning- the world was enveloped in a dazzling explosion of white.

Thoughts swirled around in a thick, calming fog, melding into each other with no rhyme or reason while memories both familiar and unknown fluttered just out of reach. It should have been alarming, but all he felt was peace. Warm and gentle sunlight curling around his chest, holding him in the safety of its embrace…

But then, without warning, something hit the top of his head, snapping him out of the serene realm he’d been drifting in.

                    What…?

He reached out; two hands grasping onto something cold and solid, and another two wrapping around his middle, as if trying to soothe the confusion.

          H-How…?

Despite the blazing light, he tried to pry his eyes open and caught glimpses of somewhere new.

No- wait… not new. He remembered those desks, and those bots, and the worn-down couch they used for movie nights…

  Who…?

           They…

                      Them…

Their eyes -all four of them- shot open.

        Peter!

                Tony?!

They drew in a ragged breath.

Not the breath of a famed carnelian or an awe-struck celestite, but something new.

Someone new…

And then -as quickly as it had appeared- the light vanished, sending Peter careening to the floor in a less than graceful crash. Dark spots swarmed his vision as he pushed himself up to his elbows, and the boy shivered as if he had been buried under snow, lacking the warmth that had embraced him only moments ago.

As his mind caught up to his body though, Peter’s gaze locked onto the familiar carnelian laying on the floor just across from him. Mr Stark’s eyes were still closed, but the older gem rubbed his head with a dazed groan much like Peter had when they first woke up.

No, not woke up.

Split up.

Because against all odds and every fibre of Peter’s being saying it couldn’t be true, they had fused.

Actually, truly fused.

“Oh my god…” Peter breathed in awe, only to be followed by an equally as mortified “Oh my god.”

He had fused with Tony Stark. One of the most high ranking and powerful gems their kind had ever known! What was he thinking?! There was no way a gem as renowned as Tony Stark would be happy about fusing with a lowly celestite like Peter.

“Oh no- oh god, I am so sorry Mr Stark,” the boy stammered as he jumped back to his feet to help his fallen mentor. Mr Stark looked stunned as Peter gently gripped his arm and pulled him into a sitting position, the carnelian blinking down at his hands before glancing up at Peter with a blank, wide-eyed stare. Processing, calculating… or maybe just too horrified to react.

Whatever it was, Peter felt the guilt and shame wash over him like a tidal wave and nervously pulled his hand away from the gem’s shoulder. “I’m really sorry Mr Stark,” Peter blurted out. “I- I’ve never done that before and to be honest I didn’t really… well, didn’t think that I could do it, or that it was possible for us to- uh… but a-anyway, I swear I didn’t mean to do it, it just sorta- happened!”

The carnelian’s expression suddenly softened. “Kid-“

“I don’t even know why, or- or how but I’m just- sorry,” Peter continued, lost in his panic. “It’ll never happen again sir-“

“Pete.”

“-even though I don’t really know how it happened to begin with but-“

“Peter,” Mr Stark said firmly, stilling the boy’s ramblings with a gentle hand clasping over Peter’s own. “It’s okay,” he soothed, before offering a calming smile. “Everything… everything’s okay.”

Peter stared back at his mentor, completely and utterly bewildered. “It is…?” he asked weakly.

“Yeah kid, it is.”

“…Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“Even though-“

“Yes,” Mr Stark chuckled, his voice bordering on exasperated but unable to hide the fondness in his gaze, especially as he squeezed Peter’s fingers ever so gently. “I promise kid, we’re okay.”

“Oh… cool,” Peter breathed out, heart still racing with adrenaline and a new flood of relief.

With a sudden strike of worry in his gaze however, Mr Stark asked nervously “Are- uh… are you alright?”

“Holy shit- I’m better than alright,” Peter answered without hesitation, before running a hand through his hair bashfully and saying “I mean- yeah, yeah, I’m good... It’s not like that was the coolest thing I’ve ever done or anything.”

Clearly that was what Mr Stark needed to hear though as the tension uncoiled from the carnelian’s shoulders, a pleased smile getting smothered beneath his free hand. Both mentor and mentee sat quietly for a moment, letting reality settle in as their fingers remained entwined. Neither letting go. Neither really wanting to, either.

“Mr Stark?” Peter finally spoke.

Casting the boy a curious glance, Mr Stark asked “Yeah kid?”

Peter turned to stare at his mentor with a dead serious expression.

“Were we tall?”

Shocked and amused and endeared all at once, Mr Stark could only bark out a sharp laugh as he replied, “We sure were Underoos.”

“Whoa,” Peter marvelled, before adding playfully, “I guess there are some perks to this fusion stuff, huh?”

Chuckling, Mr Stark reached over and ruffled the boy’s hair affectionately, leaving them both smiling as bright as the sun. And just like that, everything felt normal again.

Everything was okay.

They were okay.

They were together after all; how could they not be?

Good Old Pa Bear formerly Lachlan Ormerod

Papa Bear formerly Lachlan Andrew Ormerod was once an ambitious, intelligent but misunderstood autistic human being until he was killed by a bolt of lightning while looking for shelter during a storm. His troubled soul was lured into a mystic portal beyond The Solar System just outside The Milky Way under unknown circumstances before being warped into a massive far-off distant galaxy known only as Galaxceus that is home to many planets, planetoids and asteroids each with their own unique climates, differently-coloured glowing more pulsating energy fields and representing certain mystical key elements like Fire, Ice, Air, Water, Desert, Earth, Snow, Electricity, Night, Sun, Cloud, Sky, Moon, Star, Love, Electricity, Magic, Psychic, Rainbow, Enchantment, Frost, Volcano, Jungle, Turbo, Cosmic, Twilight, Swamp, Rock, Flower, Aqua, Mystic, Dream, Imaginative (aka Imaginary), Dynamic, Techno, Spectacular, Charm, Heaven, Illumination, Elasticity, Battle, Metro, Ancient, Inflatable, Prehistoric, Super, Ultra, Mega, Light, Gem, Illusion, Special, Lava, Guardian, Wish, Strange, Galactic, Power, Astro, Cave, Master, Infinity, Beauty, Major, Terrific, Incredible, Fantastic, Invincible, Amazing, Magnificent, Indestructible, Mighty, Ultimate, Eternal, Immortality and the hostile ones such as Darkness, Shadow, Nightmare, Haunted, Chaos, War and Terror. He went over to a nearby stream and saw a furry reflection of himself as a largely chubby teddy-like Bear with reddish-brown short thick fur, sun yellow fat belly, a bright red nose and wearing a light blue t-shirt with white singlet underneath although still somehow has the same mullet hairstyle. Before he could question his slightly obese anthropomorphic form an oinking sound made him turn around. A large more hugely obese Native Brown Boar in jungle shaman attire complete with a gold crown encrusted with multi-coloured feathers and a pendant resembling The Yin and Yang Symbol. The wise Brown Boar silently motioned the astounded fat teddy-like Bear to follow him. After a short walk through the jungle they come into a small hut covered with vines and leaves with a large Pig Statue encrusted with jewels. Sitting in the garden is a huge thirty five-foot tall Pink Whippet in a retro-style areobics purple spandex complete with large tennis shoes, greenish armbands, blueish headband and pinkish legwarmers. After a brief silence the Brown Boar introduces himself as Porko aka The Hogfather an all-mighty Jungle Boar Shaman who wants to teach the unlikely duo the strongest magic on the planet known as ''Pigasus''. When the teddy-like Bear asks why are they here Porko responds by casting an Illusionary Spell to show he is Lachlan Ormerod aka their true creator who made everything. He also explains that The Giant Pink Whippet is in fact the Bear's guardian angel Jodie the Heavenly Whippet. As the Teddy-like Bear stares in astonishment a swarm of over fifty or so malicious Dragons come swooping down and attack the unsuspecting heroes. After a brief but intense battle Porko tells their leader Spyra aka the Ruthless Purple Dragon he will not return the remaining Dragons Treasure and that Pigs are better than Dragons. Before Spyra can kill the Jungle Boar Shaman Jodie angrily punches him out while the Teddy-like Bear joins in on the fight. As The Dragon Soldiers flee with an unconscious Spyra in two Jodie questions Porko who was that. The Jungle Boar Shaman replies they were MediEvil Dragons from the dreaded planetoid Medievilonia who constantly terrorise the heavenly planet Pleasure Paradise. He also states he severely hates most Dragons because he lost he love of his life, a Pig to a Dragoness (presumably Kariah the Dragoness Empress) who magically transformed her into pork roast. Porko provides both of his apprentices Animal Wands a Horse and Pig Wand. Because of his bravery Porko decides to name the teddy-like Furrie Papa Bear.

What is canon?

These stories are part of the rebooted Magnumversum world. I intend to cater to a wider audience with these stories and have more lighthearted stories moving forward. The events in the world before it was rebooted are still "canon" but you don't have to read them and none of the characters (so far) remember the old world.

Below are the definitions for the terms "main canon", "alt-canon" and "non canon". The middle term I invented to describe something that is canon but only to an alternate timeline.

Main Canon: Canon stories within the main timeline.

Alt-Canon: Content that is part of an alternate timeline. Stories that are alt-canon are still canon but to an alternate timeline.

Non-Canon: Fully just excluded from canon and does not match with anything in the story, including other franchises (obviously) and fanfiction (though I support fanfiction!)

Oh boy, here we go! To say that Disney's and Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" is highly anticipated is a huge disservice to the power the studios hold over their audiences.

Since the conclusion of last year's "Avengers: Infinity War", fans have been clamoring for the answers to all the questions that film raised. On April 26th, 2019, we were rewarded for our patience. The original six members, consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye debuted as a team in 2012's "Avengers". Their adventures as a team continued in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and last years chapter "Avengers: Infinity War", which leads directly into "Endgame".

However, this is not only the fourth Avengers film, but it also serves as the conclusion to an arc dating back to 2008 with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's(MCU) very first picture "Iron Man" and developing through 21 more features, culminating in the epic showdown with, who many call the greatest villain in film history, Thanos.

Beginning with 2014's sequel "Captain America: Winter Soldier", Marvel welcomed two bright and talented filmmakers among their ranks. They are a dynamic duo of directors, brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. With this second entry into Cap's standalone trilogy, the Russos brought a fresh, new style to the MCU, prioritizing action and character development.

In fact, Kevin Feige, producer off all films within this shared universe, must have been strongly impressed by the brothers' interpretations of the characters, as they were hired back to close out the Captain America films with 2016's "Captain America: Civil War", as well as assume the mantle of director of the Avengers films from Joss Whedon. With these unequivocally successful films under their shared belt, the team has become the directors to beat in Hollywood.

Not too many filmmakers are capable of doing what the Russos have done, aligning the plots from 21 previous films in order to tell a satisfying and compelling final chapter in the Infinity Saga of films. To say that the keeping of egos of so many illustrious stars in check is amazing would be an understatement and a detriment to the real miracle the brothers have accomplished.

Each actor gives their all, regardless of how much screen time they actually take up. This gain is due to everyone involved being made aware that it takes a team effort to win big in the movie business. The scene that best encapsulates the tour de force efficiency of the Russos is the entirety of the final act in "Endgame".

LITE SPOILERS AHEAD! The finale of the film is the battle between Thanos' army versus the sum of all the heroes the MCU has to offer, including the tribes of Wakanda from "Black Panther" and the sorcerers from "Dr. Strange", as well as several others.

Within the last hour of the film, it is pure, non-stop, fan-pleasing cinematic magic that is guaranteed to wake up the inner child of any comic book nerd in the seats of the theater. Fortunately, the targeted audience isn't exclusively made up of die-hard-fan-boys, as any attendee with a taste for action, comedy, and/or an epic level of storytelling will leave the cinema extremely pleased with the previous three hours of their lives.

If Anthony and Joe Russo make up the brains behind the triumph that is "Endgame", then the actors are responsible for the heart and soul that carry the burden of post-"Infinity War" expectations.

Also, as aforementioned, this is the 22nd film in a franchise that is still young at only eleven years old. By comparison, it has taken the James Bond franchise over 50 years to accomplish the same thing. Franchise fatigue is a very real concept (see Star Wars franchise and "Solo"), but Marvel has mostly avoided it, due in no small part to the consistently intriguing performances the actors turn in.

For example, this is the tenth time we've seen Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Tony Stark AKA Iron Man, yet it is arguably the best work he has offered up as the character. Same can be said for all of the returning characters, as each one continues to bring their A-game.

Chris Evans also returns in prime condition, both physically and methodically in his acting, to again silence whatever remaining detractors he may have. Since his first portrayal as the character in 2011, Evans has seen Steve Rogers go on a roller coaster ride with his emotional baggage, being a fish out of water when he awoke from his icy tomb to a future he spent a great deal of time adjusting to. Plot points that began in that first movie are resolved in "Endgame".

The reason these storylines transfer so well from film to film is based largely on the audiences' willingness to keep coming back to watch their favorite actor playing their favorite superhero.

Even more surprising than getting quality work from the established leaders such as Downey Jr., Evans, and the increasingly hilarious Chris Hemsworth as Thor is watching the supporting cast finally receive their time to shine. Notable are Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha AKA Black Widow, both of whom belong to the original Avengers team. They are given more depth with this script than they have had in any of their previous appearances, carrying the dramatic heft for quite a few important scenes.

On the flip-side, talents such as Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, and Bradley Cooper (returning as Rocket Racoon's voice) deliver the comedic goods in every scene they participate in. Overall, each character only gets a small set amount of screen time, but none of the actors waste their precious moments, making each individual performance unique and memorable.

However, actors can only carry a blockbuster like this so far. As mentioned above, it takes a team effort to succeed, and everyone must be operating at a peak proficiency. A few more notable contributors to "Endgame" includes cinematographer Trent Opaloch, who effortlessly paints a universe of epic proportions with his camera. He clearly has an eye for huge scale, as he and the production design team add interesting characteristics to every planet, dimension, and/or time period this film takes its viewers.

Along with the Russos, writers Markus and McFeely obviously have an understanding of the MCU and all of its intricacies. Not only are they responsible for tying up all of the loose ends from the prior decade of world-building and story-telling, but they also keep the time travel plot fresh and fun, which is hard to accomplish when audiences have seen it done so well, so often before.

Yet, the biggest unsung heroes of "Endgame" and "Infinity War" is the post production staff. From the editors to the special effects artists, this film's success is predicated on how well it is all wrapped up and delivered to theaters. The seams are virtually invisible between practical and computer generated effects, blending the action so naturally. Combining the two films together, there is 5 1/2 hours worth of story, but never once does it cease to entertain.

The films constantly thrill with action, but knows when to quiet down and let the audience think about what they are ingesting through their eyes. Also through their ears, as Alan Silvestri returns to knock another original soundtrack out of the park, inspiring children and children-at-heart to look up, believe, and always have hope... that heroes exist.

In short, it is said that a part of the journey is the end. In the case of Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame", not only is the end a part of the journey, but it the largest single moment in all of film, for as I write this conclusion statement, it has already become the highest grossing film of all time. That is a testament to Disney, Marvel, the Russos, Kevin Feige, and all the actors involved.

More so than anyone else however, it is a testament to Stan "The Man" Lee, who made is final cameo appearance in "Endgame". For over 60 years, we were entertained by the words he spoke, worlds he built and the stories he crafted. May he rest in peace. Thank you so much for keeping us all young in our minds and hearts. Stan Lee lives on through you, me, and millions of others who have gone to watch "Endgame". Excelsior! 'Nuff said.

Marvel Pitstop: A Look Back at the MCU’s Phase Four - Television

A continued look at the MCU Phase Four.  Unlike previous phases, this latest phase has television series included.  There seems to be an over-saturation of content with these television series popping up between the feature film releases.  I think that part of the reason for talk of middling quality of releases in the discourse is probably because of the sheer amount of content in a short amount of time to varying success as far as storytelling and quality.

Here’s a look at the television offerings.

TELEVISION

It is a bit of a mixed ride with the television series Marvel featured on Disney+.  The highs were certainly very high, while the valleys were at least entertaining but left a bit wanting.

WandaVision - Released January-March 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 8/10

Very interesting concept.  Much of the episodes in the series a small New Jersey town are trapped in sitcom life, going through the different sitcom decades set forth by Wanda’s powers but ultimately influenced by Agatha Harkness.  The series deals with Wanda’s struggle with losing her love Vision in the events of Avengers: Infinity War.  The series felt was strong.  Upon initial watch, I thought the finale was weak compared to the rest of the series.  On the rewatch, though, I felt like the finale held up pretty well.

Best Performance - Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness This was a tough call because I always enjoy Randall Park in anything, it was cool to see Kat Dennings back in the MCU, we see Teyonah Parris as a grown up Monica Rambeau, and we see strong performances from the leads Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.  Also the surprise appearance of Evan Peters as the sitcom version of Pietro was also good.  But in most scenes she’s in Hahn steals the show.

Best Episode - “Previously On” Throughout the episode Agatha forces Wanda through her past to find out how she was able to harness her powers.  We see the history of trauma and loss that Wanda goes through over the years and how her family would watch old sitcoms in their house in Sokovia.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - Released March-April 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 8/10

This is probably my favorite MCU series so far and is a more conventional approach to television series and the Marvel storytelling.  The series is the journey Sam Wilson takes as he grapples with whether or not to take on the mantle of Captain America, dealing with race and what it is to be a Black man in America.  While Sam grapples with this, a soldier named John Walker takes on the mantle, given the shield by the US government...and to disastrous results.  We also see Bucky dealing with his Winter Soldier past.  Both of these occurring while the duo learns to work as a team together to topple the Flag Smashers, an anti-national group looking break up international efforts to reestablish pre-Blip conditions.  The Flag Smasher storyline might have been very different, with rumors of a virus or bioweapon storyline edited out due to COVID-19.  You can see remnants of this when the Flag Smashers are stealing vaccines and the Smashers leader Karli Morgenthau mourns the death of her mentor due to “an illness,” later identified as tuberculosis.

Best Performance - Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo was great and even had meme-able moments, Danny Ramirez’s Torres had moments, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s surprise cameo was great.  Some of the other guest stars were good and the leads Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s chemistry was palpable.  But Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley was the best performance.  You could really feel the pain in his voice and the performance really added depth to the Falcon storyline as he grappled with whether to take the Captain America mantle.

Best Episode - “The Whole World Is Watching” In my opinion, the first five episodes are all really close, particularly 2-Star Spangled Man, 3-Power Broker, and 5-Truth.  But the fourth episode The Whole World Is Watching is the best.  The episode has the best buildup, a look at John Walker’s struggle to live up to the Captain America mantle, the charm of Zemo, the teamwork of Sam and Bucky, and the badass Dora Milaje fight in the apartment.  And it has a clear juxtaposition with the redeeming un-brainwashing of Bucky in a flashback at the beginning of the episode and then the shocking killing of a Flag Smasher by Cap Walker with the Captain America shield after a fight with the Flag Smashers leads to the death of Walker’s partner Lemar Hoskins.

Loki - Released June-July 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 8.5/10

In much the same vein as the approach taken with WandaVision, Loki is different.  Different in a great way.  Falcon may be my favorite show, but Loki as far as quality is probably the best MCU Disney+ series.  Following the events of Avengers: Endgame where 2012 Loki steals the Tesseract and disappears, we follow Loki after he is captured by the Time Variance Authority.  The TVA is responsible for keeping the Sacred Timeline in tact and eliminate time variants that disrupt it.  TVA agent Mobius recruits Loki to hunt down a dangerous variant - a female Loki variant named Sylvie.  Loki, in tandem with Spider-Man: No Way Home, serve as MCU primer for multiversal storytelling.

Best Performance - Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains The chemistry between Owen Wilson’s Mobius and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is great and is rivaled only by the chemistry between Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie.  Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer and Wunmi Mosaku as B-15 are strong performances as well.  But in the season finale (Loki announced it was renewed for a second season at the end of the first season), Majors stole the show.  He Who Remains is a variant of Kang the Conquerer who we will see in the next Ant-Man/Wasp movie.  Even with only screen time in the finale, Majors’ performance and execution drive not just the series into another direction, but possibly change the course of the entire MCU.

Best Episode - “For All Time. Always.” All the episodes are solid and of similar quality, so this was a hard decision.  But I think the season finale “For All Time. Always.” changes the direction of the MCU on the level Captain America: The Winter Soldier did.  It opens up the concept of the multiverse when Sylvie decides to kill He Who Remains, wrecking the end of the Sacred Timeline and stopping the control over time variants.  We have yet to truly see how this may impact the rest of the MCU.  There were other things that disrupt things and open up the multiverse, so we may see the culmination of all these things in one of the upcoming releases.

What If...? - Released August-October 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 6.5/10

A cool concept: what if your favorite Marvel hero’s journey was different?  What would that look like?  While there were several episodes that were spectacular, a lot of the episodes, while entertaining, just felt like something was missing.  I’m not too into animation, I didn’t really get into the Star Wars Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels animated series, so maybe that’s why I wasn’t too into this (although nowadays with all the CGI in things, the “live action” films are also heavily animated).  It also felt incomplete, for example with a Thanos-like Gamora featured on the promo art but only appearing in the finale (her episode was scrapped because of production issues due to COVID).

Best Performance - Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa Man, what a loss the entertainment world endured with the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman in the summer of 2020.  Boseman’s voice acting in What If was the last project he worked on before his death and was featured through out the series - four out of the nine episodes, in fact.  He even had his own episode - “What If...T’Challa Became a Star Lord,” which was tons of fun.

Best Episode - “What If...Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?” Although I felt this show was the weakest of the Marvel Disney+ releases, there were a few strong episodes.  “What If...T’Challa Became a Star Lord?,” “What If...Zombies!,” and “What If...Thor Were an Only Child?” were all wildly fun.  But the strongest episode was the darkest.  In the Doctor Strange episode, the death of Dr Christine Palmer leads Strange down a dark path to gain more power in an attempt to go back in time to save her life.

Hawkeye - Released November-December 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 7/10

Based heavily on the Matt Fraction comic run, Hawkeye is a fun, holiday-themed look at the aftermath of Clint Barton’s reign as Ronin in the post-Endgame world as well as mentoring a new Hawkeye in Kate Bishop.  We get Echo and the Tracksuit Mafia run by Kingpin as the main villains as well as a look at Yelena Belova looking to avenge Natasha Romanov’s death as she believes Barton responsible.  There are some serious moments in Barton dealing with the Ronin spree as well as Bishop looking at her development and at her mother Eleanor Bishop’s possible involvement in criminal activity.  There are some weak areas (the Larpers were a bit of an odd addition) but this is largely a good.

Best Performance - Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow There are many strong performances.  Jeremy Renner is good, Hailee Steinfeld is great.  The surprise appearance of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was great as well.  But Pugh steals the show with her charm and line execution.  Her banter with Steinfeld as well as her fight with Renner in the finale were excellent performances.  She kept grabbing up the screen with her performance.

Best Episode - “Echoes” We see the origin story of Echo and the relationship she has with Kazi, the head of the Tracksuits.  There is a great break out fight scene in the toy store headquarters of the Tracksuits as well as the subsequent car chase scene.  The continuous shot during the car chase from inside the car is top-notch.  And the episode ends on a cliffhanger inside the Bishop apartment as Kate tries to break into her mother’s company’s system.

Moon Knight - Released March-May 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 6/10

The 2022 Disney+ show releases are a bit of a letdown.  Moon Knight had some very high highs, but I think this show and many of the Marvel shows suffer from is a rushed plot.  I feel like this could have benefitted greatly from another few episodes to flesh things out, maybe 10 episodes rather than six.  Moon Knight the show follows a man Marc Spector as he reckons with other personalities/alter egos within himself.  Marc’s biggest conflict within himself is with personality Steven Grant.  Marc also embodies Moon Knight to do the bidding of Khonshu the Egyptian god of Moon and the night sky and battles Egyptian goddess Ammit.  It was a revealing look at a character with DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder and what those people may deal with.  It was also nice to see representation of Egyptian characters by Egyptian actors and directors.  But those storylines seem to fall apart or appear rushed.  Also, some of the action sequences were plagued by CGI issues (many times you can tell the difference between a person in costume and a CGI rendering of a person in a costume) and subpar fight choreography (not on the same level as some other Marvel projects).

Best Performance - Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Moon Knight, and Jake Lockley For all the issues with the series, Oscar Isaac was acting his ass off.  Isaac jumping back and forth from Marc and Steven was spectacular.  Ethan Hawke was a decent villain as Arthur Harrow, a David Koresh-like cult leader who professes the wishes of Ammit.  May Calamawy was also solid as Layla El-Faouly, Marc Spector’s ex who helps Marc/Steven navigate to fight against Harrow/Ammit.  But Isaac kills it.  The British accent may be off a bit (they even joke about it in the series) but outside of that, some great work from Oscar.

Best Episode - “Asylum” In the tradition of the other Marvel Disney+ series, the fifth episode is the strongest.  Asylum is kind of the Christmas Carol type episode, in the same vein of WandaVision episode Previously On.  We see Marc after Marc/Steven dies and has to resolve the issues in their life before they can cross over to the after life.  We get Marc as a child and the origins of how the Steven personality came about.  A rough but touching episode that stretches Oscar Isaac’s acting muscles.  A great episode of television in general from a very middling series.

Ms Marvel - Released June-July 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 6/10

Ms Marvel follows Pakistani-American teen and Captain Marvel superfan Kamala Khan as she discovers hidden superpowers and her family history.  While discovering this, she has to stop the Clandestines, a people exiled on Earth trying to get back to the Noor dimension which may lead to the end of Earth. This is another series that would have benefited from a few more episodes, or perhaps separating the story out into another season.  I think, as with a lot of minority stories told in American entertainment, they were afraid this would be their only shot to get all of this done (the creators behind this - writers, producers, directors, are all of South Asian decent and were probably afraid this was their only chance to tell the story).  This feels like two different seasons smashed into one - the first part a teen comedy, the second an immigrant family backstory.  A lot of the plot feels rushed or compressed for time and could have benefited from letting the story breathe and stretch out.  The series suffers from too much going on all at once and doesn’t hit in the way say Everything Everywhere All At Once does.

Best Performance - Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel There are some strong performances from the supporting cast, particularly Matt Lintz as Kamala’s BFF Bruno, Yasmeen Fletcher as overachiever close friend of Kamala in Nakia, Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur as Kamala’s parents, and Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s brother Aamir.  But Vellani is so charming in her performance as Kamala Khan.  The naive teen discovering herself through her family’s history and her powers was really relatable and the best part of the series.

Best Episode - “Generation Why” The first episode is the strongest.  You see Kamala’s life as a regular teen in Jersey.  You also see her strong family life and her Pakistani/Muslim background.  Kamala’s strong artistic imagination is on display.  And the main conflict is the relationships she has with her friends and the contrast with the views of her family, the push and pull between American culture and Pakistani tradition.  It really encompasses the child of immigrants story very well, it is the biggest part of the story of Ms Marvel I relate to.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - Released August-October 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 5.5/10

I want to preface this by saying that there were some moments that were really enjoyable.  But, I have to say by MCU standards, this has very diminished returns.  I know that the teams working the CGI industry-wide are shortstaffed and overworked from all the projects out, but the CGI of the She Hulk is rough.  The She Hulk effects in action scenes are decent, but the She Hulk scenes in regular interaction with actual people is very stiff and fake looking.  It’s hard going from the Endgame Hulk and the quality of that to the low quality of the She Hulk.  And that takes you out of it.  The show takes a more conventional trial-per-epidose approach and is very Ally McBeal in its vibe.  They took some swings and I’m glad they approached this show differently from the other MCU content (like the sex jokes were a welcomed change), but for the most part this series struck out for me.

Best Performance - Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She Hulk actually isn’t bad.  Benedict Wong is cooking in Phase Four altogether and is pretty solid straight man in this.  Mark Ruffalo is always great as Bruce Banner/Hulk.  It was nice to see Charlie Cox return as the MCU version of Matt Murdock/Daredevil, although I don’t know how I feel about that version yet.  But Tim Roth is hilarious in this.  Great performance and steals scenes.  I almost wish he was in this more.

Best Episode - Ribbit and Rip It Outside of the pilot episode A Normal Amount of Rage, I think Ribbit and Rip It is probably the most complete episode.  This is the episode She Hulk teams up with Daredevil to track down LeapFrog, who is fraudulently suing superhero suit designer Luke Jacobson.  Great chemistry between Maslany and Cox.

Originally I was going to go over the upcoming Marvel slate.  But the last couple years has seen that slate and timeline change multiple times.  So I’ll just conclude by saying that all these film and television projects might have benefited from some time between project releases.  It feels the MCU oversaturated and that the quality of the content has been down.  But if you kind of compare Phase Four with Phase One, they are very similar in how they are trying to feel out what works, what doesn’t, and where to go from there.  I will say that the movies were much stronger overall than the TV shows, particularly in 2022.

Let’s see what the MCU in 2023 and beyond will bring us.

“I don’t actually know what any of them do.” You realized. “Do you know what they do?”

“The tesseract is a cube.” Tom said confidently.

“Yes, but that’s not an action.”

“Then I have no idea what any of them do.” He mumbled. You laughed at him and leaned your elbow on the back of his chair.

“Me either. This is why we both died in Infinity War.” You joked.

“Stop.” He playfully pushed you. “I think the reality stone would be cool because remember the fight between Doctor Strange and Thanos with all the pretty butterflies? We could just do that everyday and, you know, have world peace.”

“You’re right. We’re gonna go with reality stone.” You said to the camera as you clicked that answer.

“Next question.” Tom rubbed his hands together. “Which Disney character would you want on the Avengers?”

“Sorcerer Mickey.” You pointed to the picture of Mickey in his blue wizard hat. “Imagine getting tag teamed by a bunch of adults and a rat.”

“I’ve never seen the movie with this Mickey.” Tom realized. “I don’t remember this outfit.”

“I think it’s called Anastasia.” You told him.

“No, that’s a Broadway show.” Tom shook his head. “This is called Euthanasia.”

“It’s called Fantasia.” Someone behind the camera told you, making you and Tom exchange a knowing look.

“Oh.” You laughed. “I’m too embarrassed to pick sorcerer Mickey now so let’s go with the Genie. I think magic would be useful.”

“Genie.” Tom repeated as he clicked on it. “Next. Which DC character could defeat Thanos?”

“Let’s see them defeat the box office first.” You mumbled under your breath.

“You can’t say that.” Tom laughed in shock.

“But I did.” You shrugged. “What are they gonna do about it? They can’t even CGI a mustache.”

“Okay.” Toms laughed died down. “Next question. How would your closest friends describe you?”

“I don’t know.” You thought about it. “How would you describe me?”

“Beautiful.” Tom said simply.

“Fair enough.” You laughed shyly. “I mean, fair enough.”

“Caring, loyal, creative, funny, kind, successful.” Tom read off the options. “I mean, you’re all of these things. But when I think of you…”

Tom stopped in the middle of his sentence as a wide smile broke out on his face.

“Why are you smiling?” You asked him.

“Because I’m thinking of you.” He told you.

“Aw. Is disgusting an option?” You asked sweetly.

“Shut up.” He pushed you again. “I’m choosing funny.”

“Good choice.” You nodded and went to the nest question.

“Which dynamic duo is your favorite?” Tom read off the screen.

“I was thinking Thor and Loki.” You decided after surveying the options.

“Me too.” Tom agreed. “But I don’t really know what dynamic means, if I’m honest.”

“Me either.” You realized. “Let’s just move on. Which weird or unconventional superpower would you want to possess?”

“I think to read and instantly memorize.” Tom answered. “That would help with scripts.”

“When I worked in retail, costumers would have to punch in their social security number if they forgot their store card and I would see it on my screen.” You told Tom with a coy smile.

“Oh?” He laughed in confusion.

“I could commit in with theft in bulk.” You stated. “I’d just memorize all their social security numbers without even trying.”

“Oh my God.” He groaned and went to the next question.

“Who’s origin story is your personal favorite?” You read out loud.

“The way that neither of us are listed as an option.” Tom mumbled under his breath when he saw the choices.

“Your origin wasn’t even in your movie.” You laughed. “They jumped right in and said y’all know the drill. Dead uncle, no more glasses, and instant abs.”

“I’m torn because Steven Strange’s is about healing and putting yourself back together and Steve Rogers is about perseverance and determination.” Tom sighed as he tried to decide.

“And being skinny.” You winked at the camera.

“I’m also leaning towards Carol Danvers because women.” Tom ignored you.

“I’m gonna pick Steve because his story is sweet.” You decided and clicked on the option.

“And finally, what would you say is your personal character flaw?”

“I don’t know. I’m perfect.” Tom said smugly.

“Is being a massive liar an option?” You asked the camera crew.

“Leave me alone.” He nudged your side. “I would say reckless. Between the two of us, there are four brain cells and two of them are playing Uno.”

“I agree.” You chuckled. “Pick that one.”

Tom clicked the option and it brought you to the end of the quiz.

“We made it! We survived!” You cheered as you turned to high five him. Tom high fived both your hands and before slinging an arm around your shoulder.

“Thank you for having us Buzzfeed.” He said into the camera. “I haven’t been Y/n L/n.”

“And I haven’t been Tom Holland.” You smiled. “Until next time.”

notes; i think its obvious the ending is a bit rushed but i still tried my best :/ got the motivation to write the ending but then lost it again...but i wanted to post it today so here it goes. would love to hear feedback on it!

it wasn’t meant to play out like this. no, he wasn’t meant to find out about it, not like this at least.

that was the last thing you ever wanted.

everything was going so fine, maybe too fine, but still, nonetheless, things were perfect between the two of you just this morning. how did it come to this?

he was looking at you, blindfold off, crescent blue eyes reflecting each emotion he held so so openly. the only times you saw him this vulnerable was when the two of you had talked about his past, his regrets, and what if’s. his eyes were full of adoration at that time, looking at you like you were a pure blessing from the heavens, an angel sent to save him from his drowning thoughts, to let him be himself.

but now, now they were looking at you with so much hurt, anger, regret, and oh so heartbroken.

you had seen, witnessed, first-hand what the receiving end of gojo’s furious gaze ended with. it wasn’t pleasant, that’s for sure, and you had sworn to yourself you would never be on the receiving end of it.

oh, how the tables have turned.

it was understandable why he was so mad; god knows you would be too. because you, who had delicately pieced back his broken heart and trust after the events of getou, had now broken it, by your very own hands at that.

how did it all come to this? you had no idea. you knew starting a relationship with him was wrong and off-limits from the very beginning, but the temptation had surpassed your rationality just like eve when she bit the apple. you never thought you’d fall this deep down the hole, so deep that you forgot–no, ignored your true mission.

to monitor gojo satoru and sukuna’s vessel and kill them when you got the order.

it was last year when the head sorcerers in england had given you this mission. if gojo was unbeatable and unrivaled in japan, you were the same in england. perhaps your curse technique wasn’t as strong as his, but it was versatile and a very reliable technique.

after itardori yuuji became the only sukuna’s vessel, japan wasn’t the only country sour about the thought of it; in fact, it had caused a panic in europe as well. and as england was the country that ruled the jujutsu world in europe, you were assigned with monitoring the vessel and the owner of the six eyes. they wanted their eyes and hands on the boy with the infinity.

but you befriending everyone there, joking with the curse himself, and becoming lovers with the one and only gojo satoru was definitely not how you planned for things to go. it spelled trouble from the beginning, getting close to the shaman who had an ego and power rivaling the gods. but, unfortunately, you were now too deep to just leave without explaining everything to him, and even hoping for a chance that he’d forgive the lies you fed him throughout your times together was a little farfetched.

how could you make him believe that everything you said was genuine, and out of true love? the answer was you couldn’t because the betrayal in his eyes was enough for you to gulp down those hopes, taking a deep breath to prepare for the argument that was about to come. “look–satoru, please let me explain and don’t jump to conclusions.” you lifted your hands in front of you as an act to calm him down, walking closer to him with a futile attempt to hold his hands.

“explain what?” a laugh escaped his throat, one mixed with desperation and madness, “that everything between us was a lie? a mission for you? how do you plan on slithering your way out of this now, huh?” his voice rising with each word he was spitting out of his mouth.

you were desperately trying to keep up the expression that you had everything together, when in fact, you didn’t at all. your hands were starting to shake because you were scared of losing the man in front of you whom you were utterly in love with. the boy with the infinity held your heart in his palms, and he had no idea about it. “nothing was a lie, alright! i know how that document looked, and i can’t lie and tell you that isn’t true, but my love for you is–”

“keep those fucking lies to yourself y/n–you know, everyone knows already. megumi, yuuji, maki, even shoko–”

“stop cutting me, gojo! i know it might be unforgivable, but you have to believe me when i say i forgot about the mission. i love you, okay? i am undeniably and utterly in love with you, and that’s why i’ve been ignoring every call, every message they’ve been sending me about the task because i can’t do it!” you were screaming now, hands in the air, trying to voice out every single emotion you were feeling in that moment.

“well, it’s too bad that i don’t love you anymore! you know, i’ve known about this for a few weeks now and was hoping you’d open up to me about it, but–”

you froze at his last sentence.

“–you what? so you’re telling me that everything that happened in between us during those weeks was an act? all fake? you were just waiting for me to open up so you could what, break my heart in a more grand way?” now you had to give it to him, not only was he secretly smart, he was also a great actor who had you fooled for weeks now. the room was silent after your words, both your eyes staring deep into each other; you, waiting for his answer.

and you watched as he opened and closed his mouth, not sure how to answer your question. but you knew what that meant; with his hesitance, you had found your answer. breaking your eye contact, you looked down at the floors of the home you used to share; you could hear your heart shattering into millions of pieces with just the sound of his breathing.

“alright,” you whispered into the air. running your hand over your face, you leaned back against the kitchen counter. “so how will this go? are you going to let me go or are we gonna have a full-on fight right now? or is everyone already waiting outside the door to capture me?” you were doing your best to avoid eye contact, it was already too heard keeping your tears from falling, and you knew one more look at the eyes you loved so much would break you.

there was silence for a few minutes, but in your eyes, a few minutes was an eternity long. the fact that he was debating the question you left was heartbreaking already. but you weren’t afraid to fight; you had come to japan prepared for the worst-case scenario, and getting to know satoru up close, you believed you had a fair chance at winning.

“–im giving you twenty-four hours to leave this country. if you don’t–you know what’s to happen.” this had you lifting your head in the speed of lightning, eyes wide mouth agape, you could only watch as gojo satoru left your shared house without sparing you a single glance.

he was oblivious to how he carried your heart out the door when he left you stranded in the middle of the kitchen.

it was an hour after your discussion, and you were still in the same spot he left you. still standing, still too paralyzed to move. the reality of things being over was just starting to weigh on you, but you knew you had to start packing because not only gojo; but england was going to be after you too.

you failed the mission. and you didn’t plan on returning back.

war is a slippery slope. what would you do? becomes what will you do? becomes what have you done?

looking around the now-empty home, you built with gojo; tears started falling from your hallow eyes. so many memories resurfaced in one moment; it was overwhelming. the day your first saw him when he was trying to crack a joke at nanami to get him to smile. or the time he first asked you out admitting he had found you a force to be reckoned with and how you had managed to bewitch him. the day you accepted, the day he made you see stars behind your eyes from pure bliss. the day he proposed living together. the day you danced around the living room with his obnoxious music playing at the back, head laid against his chest humming to the melodies. how you felt like a family when you saw him and the students act so close–

how long has it been? how long have you been pushing your actual task behind the lies and excuses you fed yourself. was that person you? the ever so stone-hearted y/n breaking her facade for the boy with infinity.

my god, my god, whose performance am i watching? how many people am i? who am i? what is this space between myself and myself?

it was all getting too much. when had you fallen down the hole to never leave again? should you be grateful, or should you curse the fact that despite all misfortune, you can still feel love and unearthly love but still for earthly objects?

finally getting a grip on yourself, your feet moved down the hall to your shared bedroom, and without wasting a glance at his side, you quickly started to pack your stuff to leave japan.

gojo wasn’t doing well himself. he thought he had finally found true happiness after all the loss he had to go through, and it all turned out to be nothing but an act built on lies. after he left your shared home, he had wandered around in the streets with no destination in mind and the cold chilly air blowing past him. his blindfold was still off, the moon making his crystal blue eyes shine even more, still with unshed tears at the brink of it—a dam about to break.

he knew he lied to you when he told you he didn’t love you anymore and only hoped the years of the facade he had to keep up was enough to fool you into believing his words when in fact, it was the very opposite. he loved you so much–so much that it broke him when he read the document that was mailed to you weeks ago. you and him were an inseparable duo–the strongest and his tamer. the boy with the infinity and the girl who held him down with gravity.

upon wandering the streets for god knows how many hours, he found himself in front of a riverbank. the light of the moon was radiating, creating a painting of a million stories for the broken boy. but while being so engrossed with the view in front of him, he had failed to feel someone creeping up behind him; with his infinity down, nanami was able to lend a hand on his shoulder. “i’m assuming you talked with her.” he broke the silence.

his silenced gaze worried his friend; they promised to keep it between themselves. while nanami believed letting the kids know would be the better choice, gojo was adamant about keeping your good image in front of them. he knew how much they adored you, and he would hate to be the one to break it to them. “i did.”

“and what choice did you go with?”

“i gave her a full day to leave, and if otherwise–” he gulped down the lump forming in his throat, “–if otherwise, i told her i would fight her.” tears now slowly starting to trail down his porcelain skin, an odd view to see for his foes.

“you did the right thing.” nanami tried his best to console him in a way. this was a new image for him; he never saw gojo break down like this; the last time he saw his best friend (he would never admit that to his face, though) like this was when he had to kill getou, even then he had managed to keep up the aloof facade. but he knew his feeling for you ran much, much deeper than that. he has witnessed what your companionship had done to him. it was what pieced him back, and now what broke him.

it’s been years since you left, but you were back now. back in japan after two years of staying away, traveling to many different countries, on the runaway from the higher-ups in england. you would’ve preferred your return to be on good news and such, but unfortunately, it was the opposite. your friends back in england had informed you about how they planned on ending gojo’s life once in for all today with a team of experienced sorcerers, and although you wanted to keep away from trouble as much you could, you couldn’t let the man you love die.

with your hood covering your face, you walked down the streets of shibuya, the once war zone that led to many disastrous events in the past years under your feet. you heard about everything; the culling game and the capture of gojo satoru, thank god those were all in the past now, and everyone was well–except nanami, and the new had broken you. just like gojo and the students, he also had a special place in your heart, his calm attitude always grounding you. you don’t think his last thoughts of you were good–considering what gojo had told you the night you left, but still, his death was unexpected news to you.

you didn’t know how you were going to approach the topic; there was a big chance they’d attack you the second you entered their line of vision, not allowing you to voice out the news–but it was worth the try nonetheless. taking your hood down, you entered a cafe; the need for caffeine after the long flight back here was strong, the anxiousness and stress not allowing you to sleep. what you didn’t expect was seeing the three first years–now third years–you loved so much sitting in the cafe chatting idly, not noticing you. you wanted to keep it that way, but on your way out, a feminine voice called out your name. “y/n sensei? is that you?”

your steps halted, freezing in your stop. the confrontation was inevitable now, causing a stir in a crowded place was the last thing you wanted so you turned around to see nobara staring at you with wide eyes, megumi and itadori behind shocked just as her. what you didn’t expect was her running straight at your engulfing you with wide arms; a big grin plastered on her face. “where were you! you disappeared out of nowhere, and gojo sensei wouldn’t tell us anything! we were really worried; you left me alone with these two idiots–you know you’re the only one who understands my pain–”

“–i’m sorry, i had to go on an abroad mission, and it took too long. it’s good to be back.” you hugged her back tightly, still trying to process the new information she threw at you. gojo had lied, and that made you question everything you believed in. had he also lied about his love for you back then? but that was for later–for now, you wanted to cherish this news and spend time with your favorite students, learn about their well-being and their stories.

“come on, let’s sit shall we? we got lots to catch up on.”

it was now midnight, and you were waiting somewhere in the middle of the forest for your dreaded meeting with gojo. you managed to convince the kids into telling gojo to meet you here without actually letting him know it was you. they were excited, to say the least, talking about how you and he were the epitomai of soulmates, two pieces meant to find each other, filling up the gaping hole you both had. you were very nervous, fidgeting in your spot, hiding behind the tree waiting for him to arrive, and when you heard footsteps nearing you–you knew this was it, heart pounding like crazy.

walking out of your hiding spot, you slowly made your way over to him, hands stiff at your sides anticipating his reaction. “gojo.” he looked at you, blindfold on this time. still, you could see his displeasure from how his body stiffened at your voice, looking at you with a straight face. “what’re you doing here? i thought i told you to leave.” you sighed, walking closer to him, “i know, and i am going to leave again, but before that, i need to tell you something–” you were cut off by the powerful shake of the ground, throwing you off balance resulting in you falling to the ground.

behind you were your old friends from england, standing tall and mighty together–a force to be reckoned with; you were once one of them, but alas, that was the past. “thanks you leading us straight to him y/n.” elizabeth smirked looking at your fallen state, “you made things a whole lot easier for us.” she continued. looking back at gojo, you were surprised to see his hands locked in some type of chain. how did they manage to get past his infinity–unless he didn’t have it on in the first place. did let his guard down once he saw you? why would he do that?

“no, no, no– leave him alone, elizabeth! i swear to god i’ll rain hell upon all of you!” you stood up desperately trying to leave the makeshift cage your friend had put you in when a sudden idea came to you. it was risky, but it would save him, and that–that was all you needed, your purpose of coming here in the first place.

“lover boy is being quite over there. what is it? cat got your tongue?” she was taunting you and definitely enjoying it too. walking closer to you, she neared your face while the others were beside gojo, “you’re both fools believing you guys could be together in the first place, that’s how it works–” she was cut off by the stomp of your foot on the ground lifting a piece of rock–the one gojo was on, up to the air, away from your ex-friends. if you couldn’t save yourself, you could at least save him; apologize for your past mistakes.

from where you were, you couldn’t do much, but you used all your might to send rock flying in the air towards them meanwhile keeping gojo away from them. your cursed technique was called upon the tainted sorrow, the ability to manipulate gravity, and it was unrivaled in europe. you trained too much to reach where you were, the strongest just like gojo, but even the strong can fall, and all it takes is the blink of an eye.

you were on the ground again, but this time blood pouring from your insides, a deadly piercing through your abdomen. while you were so engrossed with trying to keep gojo safe, you hadn’t realized he was already off the piece of rock fighting the rest. and he had made the mistake of underestimating them, resulting in the struggle. but that distraction was enough for elizabeth to pierce the cursed knife through you.

one second you were on the ground; the next, you were in someone’s arms. looking up, you were met with the crystal blue eyes you had grown to love staring right back at yours. this reminded you of the moments where you used to lay on his chest, hands tangled in his snow-white hair, his hands keeping you tight against him, eyes staring at each other with nothing but love. how unfortunate things weren’t that way now. you bleeding onto his hands which hopelessly applied pressure to your wound in hopes of saving you, his blindfold now off, tears slowly caressing his face. it was a sight for the eyes. you lifted your hand up to cup his cheek, imprinting a red hand mark right where you touched him, “satoru–”

“save your breath, i called for shoko; she’ll be here any minute, and we can save you–” you silenced him with your thumb on his lips, “satoru, this was inevitable, even if you save me now, they’ll still be after me. it’ll be a never-ending cycle.”

“no, i can keep you safe, y/n. remember? it’s us against the world, baby. always has been and always will be.” he kissed your forehead, still keeping you close. his eyes were shut tight; he could feel your consciousness slipping away and knew he couldn’t save you. but can’t a man hope? and as you uttered your last words, body temperature turning cold, breathing stopping, he knew right then and there this was where he lost it all. this was how he lost the light of his world, in his own hands, between his arms.

“for what it’s worth, i love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard.” and he knew those words would haunt him for an eternity. follow him wherever he went. the ghost of you will always be with him, never leaving. you will hold him down by gravity with just your soul. yet he still wanted to curse the gods for taking you away from him, his fresh breath of air, his anchor.

your love was strong, but the timing was wrong, and love decided that you both didn’t belong.

365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

September 13th - S.T.R.I.P.E.

Patrick “Pat” Dugan had been a brilliant engineer in the early field of robotics, yet due to financial hardships had to put his career as an engineer on hold in order to work as a chauffeur for the wealthy Pemberton Family. Mostly, Pat was tasked with chaperoning the Pemberton’s spirited son Sylvester who was constantly getting the two into all sorts of mischief. The pair happened upon a group of nazi saboteurs and Sylvester jumped into action with Pat at his side. Sylvester’s acumen as an acrobat worked especially well in conjunction with Pat’s large size and skills as a brawler. The two made short work of the saboteurs and Sylvester felt it their patriotic duty to continue on as crimefighters battling the Axis Forces infiltrating the United States. As such the pair became ‘Stars and Stripes’ with Sylvester acting as the Star Spangled Kid and Pat as his tough guy sidekick ‘Stripes’ (representing a rare instance where the sidekick was actually the older of the duo). When America officially entered into World War Two, Stars and Stripes were recruited into The All Star Squadron to protect the home-front. The pair also joined the Seven Soldiers of Victory for special missions.  During a mission shortly after the war, The Seven Soldiers battled The Nebula Man which resulted in their being trapped in a formless limbo dimension. The group were eventually rescued by the Justice League resulting in their transportation to the modern era.  Upon his return, Dugan finally had the time to dedicate himself to his interests in engineering. Whereas Sylvester was offered Starman’s cosmic control belt so to become the hero Skyman and join the young hero team, Infinity Inc. Skyman perished in a battle against The Injustice League and Dugan retired, keeping his friend and former partner’s belt and uniform in a trunk. Years later, Dugan married a woman named Barbara Whitmore and relocated to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Barbara’s teenage daughter, Courtney discovered Sylvester’s old gear and ended up using it to become the superhero Stargirl.  Feeling obligated to look after Courtney, Dugan finalized a suit of mechanical armor with assistance from John Irons and using materials provided by the original Robot Man (Robert Crane).  Dugan called his armor S.T.I.P.E. (a complicated anagram standing for special tactics robotic integrated power enhancer) and used it primarily as a means to protect Courtney in her fledgling career as a super hero. To this extent, STRIPE went on to become a member of the contemporary incarnation of The Justice Society.  Actor Luke Wilson has portrays Pat Dugan in the Stargirl television series. The hero first appeared in the pages of Star Spangled Comics #1 (1941).

- I’d be in this series cause Wanda would of never been alone on my watch

- Because I was there when the Hex was created I gained powers from it (basically like Monica) which turned my hair white

- in the end of Wandavision instead of the fake Wanda you see on the steps of the cabin it’s me protecting her while she learns her powers and I come to terms with mine

TFATWS

- I would be in this cause I’m plain greedy but I’d only have a cameo

- I now wear all white a sign of a new era no longer trying to blend in but still have two braids for Natasha

- I’d of left Wanda when I saw John kill someone with the shield to take it from him not realising Sam and Bucky were on it as were no longer in contact

- instead of Sharon it would be me whipping off the disguise in New York to Bucky. Very cute reunion scene then I’d help him against the flag smashers

- After Sam’s speech he’d see me with Bucky. He’d offer to have my name cleared if I wanted to join his team as he could use some with ‘special skills’

- I’m tempted until they both get called away and I watch how close they are now and how happy Bucky is compared to before which makes me see I can’t leave Wanda till she is happy too. I look up at the sky talking to Nat that I’ll look after our family before stepping back into the crowd and it’s the last the audience sees of me for now.

Random Thoughts on Fusions

Bruh all the recent discussions (both online and off) about pure fusion ultras from various TDC leaks and rewatching some content has made me rethinking about just how strong they are and especially just how much nuance goes into each one

Like imma just try to make sense how strong say a pure fusion is compared to a few ultras firstly

As we all know, Ginga is way stronger than your average New Gen ultra and Victory is scaled to him, and here we see here than a combined attack from both of them (whom was in GS and VK btw) was able to drive empowered UDK back physically

Whereas we saw that a triple combined attack from your average New Gen final form didn't manage to achieve the same effect as the former

But prior to the two, we saw that a pure trinity fusion Gruebe was able to literally launch the same UDK

So knowing that EXBSA+UF+OT (lowballing here since OT and EXBSA seems much stronger then UF) <<< GS+VK << Gruebe,

This means that a trinity fusion of 3 average ultras (count Grigio as one since her OP support capabilities makeup for the usual stats) is able to overcome the huge gap between the average New Gen and Ginga/Victory, whom has shown similar feats as some of the Ultra Brothers in their debut series. While keeping in mind that I posted a calculation long ago here that the "apparent" difference in power between an average New Gen Ultra and an Ultra Brother tiered Ultra is around a 1000x difference

But of course from the Ginga series, we know that this is a severe lowball since Taro easily wiped the floor with Dark Lugiel when Ginga couldn't, not to mention that the Dark Spark War ended the way it did. (As well as a whole host of other example like Toregia toying with Gruebe, one shotting duo fusions as well as fearlessly taking on the entire New Gen cast in their strongest forms all at once, all of which are consistent with ultras on this level of power) So it seems that the power of a fusion ultra isn't multiplicative per se but did come across that it was stated that Super Taro was "tens of times" stronger than Taro. So for the sake of argument (for the later parts), let's just highball this multiplier to the power of an ultra being the addition of all its components, then multiplied by 100.

But here's where it gets really interesting, because of the huge discrepancy in power between Ginga/Victory and the average New Gen as pointed out earlier, and using the above estimate for a power of a fusion, its not a stretch to say that GV may be stronger than Gruebe despite being an order less for a fusion

And of course before anyone asks, Saga would obviously be stronger than Gruebe since the former is working with stronger components overall, but to answer those that are gonna ask if Saga is stronger than GV, ngl I'm gonna inch slightly to the latter for the same reason.

Which then brings us to higher order fusions, but then this yet again, brings about another nuance, as there's one peculiar similarity about fusion orders higher than 3, that being that all of them have only been accessed via Ultra Overlapping.

And the interesting thing about Ultra Overlapping compared to the stereotypical fusion as I've pointed out before, is that the overall look of the Ultra is basically whomever the recipient of the powers of the other components is. Super Taro and Mebius Infinity falls into this category obviously. But here's where it gets kinda speculative. Cause say for Super Taro, if instead of Taro the Ultra Brothers poured all their energy into Ace instead, forming Super Ace. And we know that Ace < Taro, and since the fusion result adopts a similar look to the main component, would that discrepancy in power also be reflected in the fusion even tho its basically the same combination? That being Super Ace < Super Taro? Or is it purely a aesthetic difference with no difference in power?

This line of reasoning matters in the sense that it'll actually showcase the difference between fusions achieved via Ultra Overlapping and pure fusion, where the later adopts a look thats not biased towards any of its components. In addition, such an implication of Ultra Overlapping could also imply that the main component would be the limiting factor of the power of a fusion ultra achieved.

Which brings our attention to Mebius Infinity next, given the HUGE difference in power between Mebius and the other Ultra Brothers, we would also see the same implications as the previous example where potentially Taro Infinity > Mebius Infinity

(Of course I'm also assuming that the drawback of this implication isn't so severe that'll actually make Mebius Infinity weaker than Super Taro, that being I'm assuming that there's no "hard limit" of power that the base ultra chosen would affect the fusion since we can still just assume whatever excess energy is left over the hard limit [even if it exists], would just supercharge the fusion, the then further implications of which I really don't wanna get into until we can confirm the previous step first)

Now that we have went through conventional pure fusion as well as Ultra Overlapping, its time to talk about Reiga. Thinking further about his fusion method actually baffled me greatly since it actually has several nuances that I previously just somehow never thought of before.

For one, while we can somewhat confirm that Reiga is formed via Ultra Overlapping based on Reiga's characteristics as well as its real-time fusion method, what I failed to take into account was that the Taiga Spark was also involved in the fusion process.

As a refresher, we know that the Taiga Spark is able to create an impure fusion which results in a fusion that unlike Fusion Up, Rise and Ultra Fusion, requires all the components to be present and the resultant fusion is likely preset to a component, which what we saw previously for this was TS.

Now back to the original presumption, we know that the Taiga Spark was also involved in the Ultra Overlapping process as like during the formation of TS, it produced the Tri Squad-let and the Taiga Tri Blade, while in the context of Reiga, the New Gen-let and the New Gen Eye was created.

Originally I just assumed that Reiga was but a form of Taiga because of the parallel similarities with TS, which would make him much, much weaker than an actual pure fusion of the same 11 components

Not to mention that I believe I didn't point out that the Reiga that appeared in the Taiga film was actually nerfed since the powers of all the New Gen involved (minus Grigio) was also nerfed as they were able to only get the miniscule power they had previously given to the Tri Squad as bracelets in ep 1 before engaging Grimude

But on the other hand, Reiga would also technically be stronger than an actual pure fusion since we need to keep in mind that the movie forms of the New Gen were used, not their base forms, and based off the promo material which points out such as well, and with reference to the earlier proposed formula on the power of a fusion ultra, Reiga would also technically be stronger.

So in short, Reiga is at a pretty confusing level of power. On one hand, he could just be a Taiga-based fusion thats essentially just something like TS, which is way way weaker than a pure fusion, which has a very strong precedent with TS with its similarities. On the other, it could be a fusion of whatever the Taiga Spark did for TS AND Ultra Overlapping, in addition to Reiga not actually utilising the base forms of his components too. Tho the fact that TsuPro has been listing him as a seperate Ultra from Taiga suggests the latter possibility despite its overwhelming similarities to TS' method of fusion, which for the sake of argument, im just gonna go with at this point.

Now this has again, another implication when we actually try to compare the same way we did with GV and Gruebe, but now with Reiga and Mebius Infinity, likely two of the most probable endgame characters for TDC. Because of Reiga's very ambiguous level of power, it literally might just only be as strong as Mebius Infinity, or frankly, way weaker since it has the same arguments on the GV vs Gruebe example going for it (6 Ultra Brothers waaaaay stronger than all the New Gen), not to mention its other possible downsides of its fusion method, which is still very surprising considering the pretty significant difference in order of fusion, much more so than our earlier example of GV and Gruebe.

god, you had missed new york. especially the cold that always fogged up your window glass and that forced you into wearing socks to sleep like a heathen, and the wind chill that made you want nothing more than a warm drink and a nice movie.

you had missed upstate the most, the clearer and less crowded air, the serenity that can only be found there, and most importantly your family.

it had been a year since you’d left for los angeles, going on a mission to bring down a branch of HYDRA that had been implanted in the golden state itself. the job wasn’t easy, but no one could keep you away from taking it. you missed your family. it put a heartache in you, and it also gave a certain brunette boy one too.

peter parker had liked you since the day he met you. it was his freshman year, and you were in his study hall. you barely even spoke to him, yet he had swiftly become captivated by the perfume you wore, the way you parted your hair, every single quirk that made you who you were. you’d like his posts on instagram or even text him (though that was quite rare, you’d probably texted him once in the four years he’d known you), and he swore his heart bursted every time you did. when he found out you left for california, he couldn’t help the heartache that followed. he spent each day hoping and wishing to every star for your safety, and they were all answered when you pulled up to the avengers compound on a cold december day.

you knew what he was assuming and peter just looked confused.

“NO not like that, dad” you started frantically, because no you did not know peter like that.

you nodded along with his quick explanation and your dad let out a sigh of relief.

you had graduated high school three years early, and though you didn’t have many friends, you kept in touch with peter over the years. it baffled you that he never seemed to put the pieces together, i mean (y/n) starr wasn’t exactly the most incognito cover name, and your face was plastered over at least one magazine a week for both your hero persona inferno and your civilian self.

“for a second i was worried.. nevermind.” tony said, waving his hand at the now ridiculous thought.

you knew what he thought and you laughed at his small outburst.

“so why is peter parker here?”

“he’s spider-man.”

oh.

“what? peter parker is spider-man??”

the boy in question looked at you now, offended that you were acting like him being spider-man was the most ridiculous thing you had ever heard.

tony simply rolled his eyes, used to your theatrics because well, you got them from him.

“just told you he was, kid. you’re going to train him as long as you’re over here, the team figured you’re the best suited because of your age.”

great.

you had said peter parker was your friend, and that much was at least sort of true, but you came to new york for a break. you’ve been working nonstop for the better part of a year. however, you brushed off your disappointment because at least you didn’t have to train with natasha.

“sounds good. want to head over there now peter?”

he glanced up from the carpet he seemed to find very interesting.

“yeah, that sounds fine.” he said, nodding quite eagerly.

“see you kids later. glad you’re home, mini me.”

you gave your father one last hug and a smile before taking the bag by the door that you know has most of your gear in.

peter followed you into the audi, marvelling at the interior that you had customized yourself. you were such a stark, peter noted in his head, unbeknownst to you.

“so what are your powers?”

you could feel him look at you, almost confused as to why you were asking. haven’t you heard of spider-man?

“i like to hear coming from you, rather than just assuming.” you said, glancing away from the road just briefly to offer him a smile.

“no one has ever really asked before, they all seem to know already.” he returned your smile, and you felt for him. you knew what it was like- when you had first displayed your powers everyone seemed to know more about you than you yourself did.

“well i’m asking” you said, smile still present, “what can you do, spider-boy?”

you watched him run his hands down the leg of his jeans nervously.

why was he so nervous?

“um,” he started, still fidgeting with the leg of his jeans, “i have super strength, and i can shoot webs out of my hands?”

that much you knew, but it still piqued your interest.

“have you ever tested how strong the webs are?”

his head tilted slightly and he reminded you of a puppy when it did.

“no, but i think they’re pretty strong, i mean i did the thing with the ferry a couple years ago.”

you almost forgot about that. almost.

“what’s your favorite part about all this? it can be a little overwhelming and weird, but it’s still fun most of the time.”

he nodded at that, agreeing with you.

“i don’t know, really. i started out being a friendly neighborhood spider-man, i refused the avengers offer mr. stark gave me, and then the stuff in space happened and now i’m here.”

you nodded along with his explanation.

“i’m so glad i was in wakanda instead of up there.”

you had been allowed to visit wakanda on both an invite from king t’challa and stark industries business, and during your extended stay you also had to defeat an ugly and angry grape guy.

“wait, you went to wakanda? what was it like?” his nervousness was slowly fading away as you got him to open up a little more.

you spent the rest of the drive to the facility geeking out about wakandan technology and the things shuri has created.

you parked in your personal spot, making a note that steve’s car was parked in his own spot, meaning both he and bucky were here, and nat’s motorcycle was here as well.

“looks like you’ll get to meet some of the team too!” you said, eager to say hi to natasha and america’s favorite duo.

“as long as they’re as nice as you i’ll be fine.” he told you with a smile that you thought shone brighter than the sun and you ignored the way your heart fluttered at the comment.

you lead him into the facility, running into steve and bucky along the way, introducing the three, and after the introduction the fossils adopted the nickname queens for peter.

“they’re so boring.” you spoke, fighting to suppress a smile. you didn’t actually think that, you were really close to steve and bucky, you just liked to make fun of them.

he looked at you questioningly.

“do you not like them?”

he then noticed you trying not to laugh and realized you were only joking.

you showed peter around the facility, as well as showing him everyone’s rooms, stopping outside each door for him to see without invading the privacy of your fellow avengers.

natasha strutted out of her room down the hall, like the drama queen she is.

“hey kid, welcome back sparkles.” she sent you a smirk, and then walked by just as quickly as she came.

you turned to look at peter.

“hi natasha” you said, rolling your eyes at her nickname of choice.

“why did she call you sparkles?” he asked through a small laugh. he didn’t know? it was kind of obvious.

“i’ll show you later, let me show you my room!”

you loved your room in the facility, and you grabbed peter’s hand to eagerly lead him down the hall to your room.

it was then that both you and peter decided you both liked the feeling you got when you had grabbed his hand.

you showed him into your room and he looked around curiously.

“you have a cat?”

the little white cat sat atop a plethora of pillows at the top of your bed and blinked at you.

“no, that’s bucky’s little monster, alpine. she’s not supposed to be in here.”

peter just smiled at the cat, stroking her fur softly.

“i like your room, it’s super ni-“ he cut himself off, “hey is that a star wars poster?”

you could feel yourself flush with the warmth of embarrassment.

“the empire strikes back is my favorite movie!”

you breathed a sigh of relief, he wasn’t going to make fun of you.

“it’s mine too!” you said, a big smile on your face. “the poster is signed!”

you both shared your excitement at your signed empire strikes back poster, and you even offered to get him one.

“i could never accept that, (y/n).” he said, shaking his head.

“good thing i’m not giving you a choice” you replied, smirking at him.

and that was the kickstart of an even closer friendship with you and the brunette hero.

you bounced back from los angeles and new york quite frequently the past eleven months. because of your success with the HYDRA mission given by SHIELD, and wanted you in their west coast division more often. you went away to california at least twice a month.

now, however, you sat in a nice apartment in queens, a popcorn bag popping between the warmth of your hands. you still remember the day peter found out about your powers.

“look.” you had said, and then your finger lit up, just like a candle.

“how did you do that?” he asked you, not even considering the fact that those were your powers.

“i can set things on fire, with my mind and with...” you paused, and then your whole hand started to glow red. “myself.”

“like a super-arsonist?”

“i mean, i guess you could say that.”

“wait! you’re inferno???”

when the popcorn was done popping, you passed it to peter before getting up from the couch quickly. peter grasped your forearm and you thought your heart would bust out of your chest because of the contact.

“what’s up?” he asked with a small head tilt and a furrow of his brow.

“i just have to go get something, pete” you reassured him with a smile, before walking over to his room to get your bag, trying to calm yourself down because he could probably hear your heart pounding.

inside was a tiny little cylindrical package wrapped in paper with your superhero self all over it.

you grabbed the mini item and sized it back up using a disc you’d borrowed from scott. you took a deep breath before walking back to the living area and your movie.

“merry christmas peter!” you said, a huge smile on your face.

“what is this?” he was surprised, you could tell.

“open it!!” you slid back onto the couch next to him and handed him the wrapped box.

when your hand touched his, peter willed himself to relax because you’re his best friend but also you’re so pretty and you smell like literally everything nice ever created in the universe. he snapped himself out of it, blushing a little at his inner monologue before grabbing the gifts from you.

“you know christmas isn’t for two weeks right?” you could hear the nervousness in his voice and you wondered why. why was he so nervous?

“tis the damn season, i say.” you said with an over the top arm swing, he just rolled his eyes at your antics.

“just open it already, before i” you raised your voice now, because may was in her room down the hall, “tell may about the time you-“

“okay i’ll open it!” he rushed out, covering your mouth with his hand before you could finish because he did not need aunt may knowing about that.

your chest heaved a little at the touch, and his hand was pulled away quickly. you noticed his face flush red and his breathing become a little quick, but brushed it off as him being worried you’d tell may.

“i like the wrapping paper by the way.” he commented, giving you a smirk that made your body swarm with butterflies.

when he opened it, an empire strikes back poster was revealed, complete with signatures from all the actors.

you saw his face light up and his mouth part in shock, and you’d give the world to see him that happy every single day.

but you didn’t need to, because for peter, just having you was all he needed.

“no way” he gasped, shaking his head a little with a smile of disbelief on his face.

“(y/n), you didn’t!”

you just smiled. it was then that peter swept you up into his arms, giving you a hug that made both of your hearts race.

but, good moments never last forever.

the next day, you were sent to athens on a mission with natasha and steve, one that might not let you be back for christmas.

you had completed the mission in time, done the day before christmas eve, but that doesn’t mean you finished it well.

it went messy, and both you and natasha sported a few gashes, but steve took the worst of it, always the gentleman. it also took a toll on you, being gone for two weeks was nothing abnormal, but it was what was said over those weeks that bothered you.

“oh little stark, you’ll never be their real family. you aren’t even a real avenger!”

it wasn’t true. you were one of the more original avengers, being taken on the team despite your dads worries, and you were their real family. but it still hurt you, it still stuck with you, replaying over and over in your mind as you tried not to let the words tear you apart.

you flew the quinjet the fastest it’s ever been flown, and debriefed with fury at SHIELD, letting steve and natasha go to the lab for some patching up.

when you got back to the compound, peter was the first person you saw. you walked over to him, and he brought you into his arms. it made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, something you needed after the mission.

peter could see how down you looked and he hated it, so did all he knew how to do.

he held onto you tight, not saying anything to you, just providing the support you needed.

you knew the insecurities you had were a little silly, but you also knew that it was okay to feel like this, because even the strongest avengers have bad days. it made you feel more human, even though it also made you feel a little sad.

peter brought you comfort in this moment, whispering things that made your heart soar even if you knew they were just him being a good friend.

“you’re the best friend i could ever ask for.”

you smiled into his chest, and pulled yourself away, albeit reluctantly, from his hold.

“thanks peter” you said, more soothed now.

“i needed that. you really are an amazing person.”

he put his arm around your shoulders, giving you a little side hug.

“only for you.” he said, giving you a wink, one that you rolled your eyes at.

the day flew by, as it always seems to after a mission. the three of you sent off healed up quickly, just in time for the gift exchange you always forced everyone into on christmas eve.

after the exchange, you took your newly keychain-filled keys (thanks to nat, clint, sam, and bucky) and drove home. peter had left early, hitching a ride from your dad, which was a little odd to you but you brushed it off.

when you got home, all you saw was pepper on the couch with an excited smile on her face and a wave in greeting, and then you heard tony but lost your sight due to a black cloth being wrapped around your eyes.

“mom, what is he doing to me?”

you heard her laugh at your comment.

“just let him lead you, honey.”

you wished she and tony could see you roll your eyes.

he guided you up the stairs, telling you when to step so you wouldn’t fall, and you were quickly ushered into your room.

“why do i need this thing anyway?” you inquired, but the question was dropped when you felt someone new untie the blindfold.

peter.

you blinked your eyes a couple times, adjusting again to the environment of the room.

“is peter supposed to be a surprise? should i act surprised?”

the situation was a little confusing, no one was surprising you with a gift; tony and pep always waited until christmas, and you and peter exchanged gifts at the compound.

so what was going on?

“peter is not the surprise.”

and with that, tony left the room. if your back wasn’t to him you would’ve saw him wink at peter, but you did see peter’s face start to flush.

weird, because tony never left the room for surprises. little did you know, tony has been desperately waiting for one of you to make a move on the other after watching you pine within your friendship, and when peter mentioned giving you a necklace and confessing his feelings he nearly jumped for joy.

“i’m not the surprise, but i have a surprise for you.”

he looked a little nervous, compared to his usual comfort around you, and his hands started to fidget with his pockets.

“what is it?” you questioned, looking up at him and realizing suddenly that he was really close, which made your heart start to beat a little faster.

you saw him reach into his pocket and suck in a breath.

“titanic was the first movie you watched with me, i remember you insisted on it because it was your favorite at the time,”

you were a little confused, so you just nodded, albeit a little dumbly.

“i also remember how you said you’d kill for a necklace like the one rose wore, and you talked about the history of what it was modeled after for a good ten minutes”

you laughed, but you didn’t know what he was leading up to.

“and i knew that you could talk to me about anything, for however long you’d want, and i’d listen, because i got to see that look on your face when you were excited about something”

he was smiling at you as he reached into his pocket.

“peter parker i swear to god if you pull out a replica of that necklace i will kill you. or kiss you. or both.”

he laughed, and held out the palm of his hand, which lie a necklace that looked exactly like the blue hope diamond, and your mouth parted in shock.

“holy shit.”

“i, uh, wanted to give you something special, to show how special you are to me.”

you felt your eyes well up with tears at his words, and you smiled as he clasped the necklace around your neck.

recalling your words from moments ago, you took in a breath for confidence.

“i think i owe you a kiss.” you said, still smiling.

“as long as you don’t kill me after.”

and with that you pressed your lips against his, feeling your body ignite but not like when you were using your powers. this was a warmth in your heart.

peter kissed you and he swore it was the happiest moment of your life.

you kissed him with everything you had, bringing your hands around his neck.

it was like you fit together perfectly, and one would even say two hearts became one in that moment, but for you that was far too cliche.

you separated reluctantly, and you both smiled at each other. the smile you shared was worth a million words.

“tis the damn season, i guess.” you heard tony and pepper giggle like children outside the door that was half open, and the four of you laughed.

he looked at you with a cheeky grin.

“turns out inferno is celine dion’s favorite superhero.”

your jaw dropped.

“kid, you’ll catch flies.”

“thanks for the warning dad.”
