I cannot emphasize this enough: sometimes the draft sucks because you keep looking at it. It doesn’t actually suck. You just need to post it and stop beating yourself up.

Thinking about Caleb “I-use-people’s-full-names-to-show-intimacy” Widogast and the way he calls Veth “Veth the Brave.” It’s not all the time—it’s rarely used, actually, saved for specific moments, only when he’s using the fondest of tones, with the most admiration, and how calling her that is more intimate than just “Veth Brenatto.” Because Veth the Brave is both of her identities. It’s Nott and it’s Veth, it’s their co-mingling, it’s her in her entirety. Veth the Brave. That’s why it’s so intimate, because he is speaking to all of who she is

I love the idea of teenage Malleus hating his new baby brother Silver but slowly falling for him
words cannot express how much I adore that Mal's reaction to seeing a human baby for the first time was "the fuck is this. why does it look like that. gross." (then he immediately got stuck on babysitting duty and the rest is history)
I am SUCH a sucker for that trope of "non-humans being fascinated by normal human behavior", so between that and all the delicious angst going on I was eating VERY well. >:) Malleus being so impressed that two-year-old Silver can walk, because it took him twenty years to stand on two legs! Lilia barging in on the Zigvolts at 2 AM being like "he won't stop crying what do I do"! Lilia trying to feed Silver rats and Malleus being like "...please just stick with what the books say to feed it"! it is all so. chef's kiss.

okay i'll say it: percy being "different" because sally taught him the myths before he knew he was a demigod is an unnecessary change. percy was never "different" because he knew the myths and thus came into the mythology world knowing how fucked up everything is. he's different because he has a strong sense of loyalty (fatal flaw). he's different because his mum loved him and he learned love and compassion and kindness from her. he's different because when the time comes, he will choose to be the demigod of the prophecy. he's different because despite the life he's had he's a good kid. he's different because he will not give respect that hasn't been earned, even if it gets him into trouble. he's not different for knowing the gods are a fucked up family and that sometimes a monster is not a monster. he's not different for not wanting kleos. in fact i think it's much more impactful if he gets to that conclusion himself, if he sees it and he comes out kinder and choosing not to continue the cycle on the other side.
also they should have let annabeth say the exposition. not just because she's the "smart one" even though she is, but because she was raised in the world of the gods since she was seven and she would absolutely have biases percy could challenge with his own choices.
you know.
like in the book richard wrote already.

Ok ok
First Narilamb sketch/comic dump
1: spent HOURS trying to draw those hands, but barely less than 20 minutes on perspective, coloring and shading
Think about this: The Lamb is defending the cult from invaders, Narinder is nearby keeping an eye on the matter. When the danger is almost over, one last enemy approaches with the intention of pushing her down a nearby slope. The Lamb immediately defends herself with the sword, but after fighting for so long she is physically exhausted so, after handling the sword with a sudden movement, she falls.
She lets herself fall, after all if she is wounded she will heal quickly, and if she dies she will revive almost instantly... but suddenly a hand appears holding her tightly, enough for her claws to accidentally dig in, making her bleed. They both look at each other in surprise, thinking exactly the same thing... "why?"
This is based on my own experience and the fact that sheep and goats usually attack and play at charging.
and for the last one... I have my reasons and headcanons ok? *giggles*
Do I have context for any of these? vaguely, but I'm enjoying it

several folks in the tags of my queer!aziraphale post have pointed out that in that scene, grindr was mentioned in the same breath with twitter, giving that line the context of aziraphale being in general very technologically inept. and like, yeah, that is totally true - aziraphale is a (proud) luddite.
but. i don't know. i think there's still something to be said for the fact that this person even mentioned grindr to him in the first place; the point of the sentiment ('i barely use my phone') would've held up just fine with just mentioning twitter. like. it's grindr??? mentioning it is a pretty overt way to out yourself as a member of the community, especially to a total stranger. (this may, of course, also just be my own self-preservation speaking - but i imagine even the proudest and most comfortable lgbtqia+ folks living in the safest and friendliest places still likely read the room before each time they come out, you know?)
and it could certainly be argued that maybe that says more about that person and their level of comfort with their own identity than it does about aziraphale, but... my thought process is, something about aziraphale's presence and manner told this person it was okay to drop this signal about themselves. like, aziraphale may not have known what it was, to be able to recognize the reference? but that person talking to him obviously did and i feel like that's what's meaningful here too.
it really is a lovely, genius little interaction because it both establishes aziraphale as happily living in his own rather vintage iteration of the community (which doesn't touch technology or hookup culture because he has no need or personal preference for either) AND shows him to be recognizably part of the queer community even to modern folks (read as queer by peers in a way that makes them want to connect with him over it).
like. wow. wow! anyway i love aziraphale /send post
