thinking about werewolf transformations in the quarry and i literally went: oh. oh.
so I gotta say first, my take on nick was that I flat-out hated the character, and his whole hungry-horny bit was right out of bad fanfiction, but okay. then I got to thinking about other transformations, and I think the point is, they are bound to different emotions the characters have; some emotion that was the strongest for the night or at the moment of transformation.
we've all seen at least 3 charachers wolfing out canonically: nick (I'll get to him later to make my point), max, and laura. we can also see dylan, emma and jacob transform on screen. kaitlyn doesn't transform fully, and abi doesn't transform at all, even if bitten (?? i haven't found any video on that, at least).
emma is the best example, when she transforms in the basement with abi. abi goes cut the shit, emma, show's over, go home, and right away, emma screams FUCK YOU with the following it really hurts. She then repeats 'it hurts' while already talking about the transformation, but the starting point was that abi's words cut her deeply. abi, who was the one to see through emma's disguise, treated her like most other people, an annoying attention-craving girl. emma's insecurity and her relationships with abi triggered the wolf.
jacob spent the whole night heart-broken. first he got dumped, then his friends (during the first chapters) were constantly dragging him, targeting him with his jokes. his insecurity also got triggered when, after all that happened, he found himself alone. he saw ryan and laura down in the basement, and yes, then opened the cage, but then they left. he was alone. everyone was leaving him no matter how hard he'd cling to them. stupid boy. summer's over and you're nothing. she doesn't want you. nobody does! nobody wants you.
dylan is literally the most wholesome boy ever, because throughout the game, he was the protector of others. he goes to juice up the radio, he gives the shotgun away, he follows kaitlyn to the scrapyard. and when he feels he's about to turn, he starts sreaming like hell trying to drive kaitlyn away from him, because he's dangerous. FUCKING RUN! RUN AWAY, KAITLYN! GET AWAY FROM ME! yeah, he's a snac, he attac, but most importantly, he protec <3
laura starts turning in the middle of the fight with chris, and she's actually the one who's able to keep a cool head (much like dylan, who didn't turn wolfy, but stayed on his human emotions). she smacks herself on the head a few times saying not now! not now, come one! quite literally, for her it's a mental fight. her sheer determination to end the curse allowed her to be herself up to this point. she kept her wolf under control for a long time, too, because she was flashing those hot yellow eyes for a while. plus, her wolf was coming and going (like when she just found injured ryan and was all wolfy), and coming and going again (when she bit ryan and had a hard time letting go of his bloodied hand), but her mind prevailed. because her major drive was to stop the curse, and she had work to do.
max is also protective as hell. he might get aggressive with laura, but agression is a part of the wolf. max, on the other hand, tried to distant hiself from laura as much as he could and talked to her as long as he could. he's a sweet boy who loves his girlfriend dont @ me. plus, I love the thought that his growl sounds hell of a lot like distorted laura! and I'm a simp for that.
and that brings us to nick. nick, who, despite being all sweet and nice, gets all obsessive with abi. he demands a verbal confirmation that she likes him, he smells her skin, he's getting posessive with that she's mine! he throws at poor bobster. plus all that abusive shit he says to abi? I only hung out with you because you seemed so desperate. he closes the circle, cuts her away from others, like any abusive shit would do with their only I can tolerate you attitude. but since transformations only amplified the emotions people were already feeling, I think maybe he was just unlucky that his major feeling was romantic. alas, it turned into something ugly, abusive, posessive, and completely different from what he intended it to be. and that's the story of how I went from downright hating nick to feeling profoundly sorry for him.

Travis just keeping back and staying quiet like the obedient dog
Very true. Because...
Tumblr media
They trained him well…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is why it's so much more impressive that he does not shoot Laura when they tell him to do so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it hurts him to do that:
Tumblr media
Well trained indeed... and still he does not shoot her. (It also suggests that he has silver bullets in his pistol?)
We all know why most fanfictions with Travis as an important part are tagged with "former child abuse".
Anyway here is the reaction of Travis if you shoot Constance:
Tumblr media
One thing I constantly think about is the fact that Travis has to know that Laura is infected because the last time he saw her she was missing an eye...
Tumblr media
And they meet again and Laura has two:
Tumblr media
I would have loved to see any real reaction about that from Travis but I guess that is just another thing the developers didn't get around to add.
Because the inner monologue had to be something like "Why the fuck is Laura here? Oh shit, she is bitten and she is in our house and she is the one who killed Kaylee and mom knows but they don't know she has been bitten and when will she change? What the fuck am I going to do? Oh shit..."
That would explain why Travis did not react any more than he did when Laura gets shot, because he knows she might get up again?

Headcanon/theory that not only Kaitlyn knew that Jacob had messed with the van on the spot, but she gave Emma The Dare™ in order to show him what an incredibly stupid decision that was.
Later on Emma can give the excuse that it was to push Abi and Nick together but from her dialogue at the fire pit, Kaitlyn doesn't think they'll actually get together.
It goes like this:
- Kaitlyn tells Jacob how to hypothetically make the van stop working, but pointedly tells him that it would be a major dick move if he did
- Jacob stands by the open trunk for a few minutes and then magically the van is no longer working. Kaitlyn says nothing.
- At the fire pit, Kaitlyn takes Abi's turn when she takes too long to decide, and chooses Emma. Emma chooses dare.
- Kaitlyn has her pick between Jacob, who thinks he can still win over Emma, and Nick.
And it has to be Nick. Ryan's already kissed someone (and Kaitlyn won't volunteer her crush), Dylan is heavily implied to be gay so he's out of the question, and if she were to suggest herself or Abi it's more likely that Jacob would see it as "girls kissing hot, ooga wooga".
Jacob and Nick are the two most traditionally masculine guys in the group and seems to have some sort of rivalry going on fueled by both of their insecurities. Nick falls in line when Jake's around. Jacob acts somewhat condescending when talking to Nick about him and Abi.
Nick is known for going along with dumb shit for the sake of being part of the group. Nick might even like the chance to get back at Jacob, in a way, for implying he's not man enough to get girls (earlier shooting competition). And nothing would hurt Jake more than seeing that his ex fling would rather kiss his shier, nerdier friend than him. And that his friend is almost too willing to comply.
- Of course Abi gets caught in the cross fire. Maybe Kaitlyn didn't think about her (and neither did Nick, or Emma, that's for sure). Maybe she thought that she and Nick might finally get it together if Nick has to apologize for something and that leads to deeper conversation about their feelings. But she doesn't see much hope. And either way, Abi and Nick are not the objective here.
The objective is to show Jake that nothing in the world can make Emma get back with him after she's made her decision, and that him going to such great lengths for it to happen is inappropriate to say the least. That tampering with a van and derailing the return home for the entire group is incredibly inconsiderate and will not get him what he wants.
So later on, before she goes with Dylan to the scrapyard, Kaitlyn doesn't act surprised that the van is not fixable. She doesn't react or even tell Dylan that a piece is missing. The person who broke it has already paid for what he did.
Jacob fucked around and Kaitlyn made sure he found out.

“You shot me, I’m telling Mom” might be the funniest thing I heard from The Quarry, because it goes so unremarked by Travis, who’s trying not to strangle his brother in a situation out of their control.

can we talk about how, if laura manages to convince travis to hand over the keys without shooting him, he immediately recoils when max raises a hand to him, despite there being metal bars separating them?  really makes you think about why that’s a conditioned response.

Since Supermassive is a British company, just for fun, I want a future game based on “An American Werewolf in London” or “Hostel”. Basically, a horror game about American backpackers taking a trip to Europe. Specifically, the United Kingdom.
So, a game developed by British people in which Americans go to the UK and are confused by/are new to British-isms. The trick is to talk about the UK from an American’s perspective…while hiding the fact that the writers are from the UK. Just imagine the meta hilarity.
For an added level of meta hilarity, I want them to get actors from the UK (just as an example, someone like David Tennant or Elizabeth Henstridge) to play the Americans. So, a horror game developed by a UK developer and starring actors from the UK who are playing American characters who are ignorant about UK/British culture.

Just wanted to say that I've played through the quarry twice and *possible spoilers* it seems like you HAVE to have Laura and Travis work together to get the good ending. I don't ship it and on my first playthrough I made Laura as hostile as possible to him but I just want to say I can definitely see why people would. Their scenes are easily one of the best parts of the game. Just another badass female character who outshines most of the main cast and whose canon boyfriend is a wet noodle.
OH YEP EXACTLY, I finally broke down and got the game myself (it was on sale in the xbox store so i justified it that way lol) and I've played through once so far but from what I've seen poking around the fandom, the only way to get a relatively good ending/break the curse for good is to have laura and travis work together (and also you can have laura be as hostile and bratty as you want and as long as she doesn't actually shoot him at any point, you can still wind up with them working together, even if she kills some or all of his family, which is both sad and hilarious when you think about it).
And like you said, I can completely understand not shipping it--it's a dynamic that won't work for everyone, and that's understandable--but I do not understand how anyone with a working knowledge of fandom could possibly be surprised by the fact that the ship exists. Her canon boyfriend is a wet noodle (who i... sent for a swim having no idea what would happen haha oops) with whom she clearly has a strained relationship (their fight over the grad school rejection letter, if you find it and confront him about it, says to me that it's highly likely they would not have survived much longer as a couple even without the werewolf catastrophe, and I just would never be able to bring myself to keep Final Girl Badass Laura Kearney chained to him after everything, even if Travis weren't a factor for me), and the relationship dynamic with the most tension and the most development/potential in the game is between Travis and Laura.
(I don't dislike the other counselors, and some of the dynamics had potential, but I did spend most of the intervening time wondering when I could get back to Laura and Travis. I wonder what it says about me that some of my greatest interest in the other Hacketteers came when Nick was in the process of wolfing out on Abi and I was like oh... oh I can work with this lmfao)
To quote that one essay about why certain noncanon ships become popular, the bulk of the emotional energy in the game is between Travis and Laura, so it's no wonder that the ship has a decent amount of popularity even before you account for the fact that some of us just like DILFs and age gaps and attempted murder in fictional relationships.

my take on the Quarry is that their design choice for the antagonists (vague for spoiler’s sake) is Weird, Kinda Bad, and borderline unrecognizable as to what it’s meant to be
i get they were trying to be unique, but they’re already going ham with the 80s slasher theme, they should’ve just made them fuzzy and fluffy and embraced the goofiness… would’ve made the bears thing more believable and [ACTUAL SPOILERS] why is silas called the white wolf when he just looks like all the rest of them…….. the game could not decide whether to play it straight or embrace the ridiculousness

56, huh?
Where did the time go?
You're a good boy, Travis.
Happy birthday!
Love, Mom
Tumblr media
look, it's all fun and games, but then this fucking card. jesus christ in heaven with a stripper on his lap, it breaks me every time.
travis hackett is a grown-ass 56-year-old man. he's an officer of the police, a respected member of society. a werewolf hunter, to top that. but he keeps a recent birthday card from his mom pinned to a board. at this age, most mothers don't send a card, and if they do, most sons don't keep them. he did. it's not even the fact itself, it's the how he kept it.
he puts it in a room upstairs, where nobody usually goes, but he also keeps it on display there. he hides it away from others, but to him, it's an object of pride.
he keeps it open, so they words are easily seen.
and like... it's not even a good card. dull-colored, showing lack of interest or emotion of the person who chose it. kinda generic with its forced joke and the oh how the time flies message. this takes two whole lines out of five total. the last two are the driest congrats ever and the standard sign-off.
but the third line. You're a good boy, like a pat on the head. He's not the best anything or the most anything. He's not a dear son. He's just. A good. Boy. AND HE FUCKING KEEPS IT LIKE A TROPHY.
but then this happens.
A good boy protects his family. You ain't no good boy.
Tumblr media
and on that note, travis hackett starts to unravel. within the next seconds, he:
admits his failure at once (I wish I could take it back, but I can't) the moment his ma raises a voice
when it doesn't work, he does his best to calm the storm down, because I bet he knows exactly how this conflict escalates and he's been through it many times (he asks his mother to calm down, he says please to show he's being rational and not angry. him being angry makes her angry and the whole thing spirals out of control)
doesn't try to defend himself when his mother calls him a piece of shit and a trash and a motherfucker
calls out to her when nothing works
uses protective body language
you know who else does it? kids in abusive households, who had to find secret tracks around someone's temper and be on their best behavior, trying their hardest to prove their worth and failing. thinking: I'm not good enough. thinking: they wouldn't be angry with me if I were good.
so yeah, the fact that this royally fucked-up man clings to a birthday card with words of praise from the woman who got him that royally fucked-up in the first place? that. that's what breaks me.

I think I got blocked so I will now talk about Silas and post in his tag and you all have to suffer... or you like what I'm going to write.
The white wolf really is such a mysterie which is a pity. Whe know literally nothing but his name and what he kind of looks like.
All we know about him are from very untrustworthy sources.
One is Travis who is telling us what Kaylee told him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Travis assumes that Eliza is not Silas' real mother. But we don't know that. Eliza looks really old so how likely is it? Well, it can still be true that Eliza is indeed Silas mother since the game is taking place in a world where werewolves, witches and ghosts are real.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But all of this just raises more question and we get literally no answers.
Like how old was/is Silas?
Travis says Kaylee wanted to help the child. this means that Silas was in his human form, right? And Travis also says that even six years later there are sightings of a feral albino child along the coast. Of course if Silas was something like 6 years old when Harum Scarum got destroyed, he could be 12 when he was finally "caught".
That again raises the question if no one ever tried to find him and bring him inside? A naked child in the woods that was seen multiple times?
Anyway let us look at the poster on the cage:
Tumblr media
compared to the new flyer, we find all the time, the one from six years ago:
Tumblr media
In the first one Eliza looks a lot younger. Of course that could have been the artist of the poster deciding to just pretty her up. But if you look at the design, the first ones looks older... like it could be from decades ago.
But Silas was already a part of the show then. So... how old is Silas really? Is he Elizas son? She sure seems to think so.
Tumblr media
"Mommy is coming Silas!"
(Sorry the screenshots I have are bad)
Eliza sees Silas as her son. Why did she put him in a cage? Maybe it wasn't as bad as Kaylee thought it was? It might have been good enough that people thought it is just an act? The cage itself is rather big... Maybe peope thought the feral thing was also just an act?
That would be what I might assume... children who grow up in a circus often help out with the acts.
Tumblr media
Either way, Eliza loved Silas enought to stay in the real world as a ghost and to try to kill off a whole family to protect him (and maybe bring him snacks/campers into the woods, who knows).
Anyway talking about age, another thing is that both Kaylee and Caleb are (if we believe the family tree) 21 22 (*1999) and 26 (*1995)
Tumblr media
Not exactly teenagers, even though Chris titles them as such. The developers are just not exact with the ages and all characters are unreliable narrators.
Also Caleb was 20 when he started the fire to help his 15 16 year old sister to free a child. Instead of asking their cop-uncle to help?
Tumblr media
All of this just seems weird. Caleb should have known better. He was already an adult who grew up in the woods and at camp. He should know about the dangers of fire.
Even if they were both only 10 years old they should have known better...
Another thing is that we have to assume is, that Silas was in his human form when he got "rescued". And still he bit Caleb. He is multiple times described as feral (again by Travis who is not a reliable source) but it might still be true.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact alone that Silas bit Caleb while probably being human is an indicator for Silas actually being feral. That raises the question of why was Silas like that? Was he like that from the beginning? Or was he just not raised adequately? OR if he really is older than he looks did he become more feral with time?
All of those are valid options.
Another thing that always strikes me as weird is Kaylees letter. The first time I heard it, it sounded like she is not sorry about what happened. It sounds like she is only sorry about how it turned out.
Though, many people died she does not sound like she feels any regret... maybe werewolves really become more feral with time?
Tumblr media
Gammy, How long we gonna drag this shit out? I know family is the most important thing, but I wanna know what's outside the forest, outside this damn house and camp, and I sure as hell know that ain't about to happen 'cos of who we are. Maybe we can explain what's goin' on. Fuckin' show people. Then they'll know we got no control over it. I know you just tryin' to protect us, but one day you won't be here no more and right now it feels like we stuck in a dark hole. I can't sleep Gammy. Or if I do I dream about that fuckin' fire. We were just dumbass kids back then. I wish it never happened. Love, K xoxo
Also Kaylee writes that they were just dumbass kids, which might be true for her but not for her brother (again, 15 16 and 20).
BUT THEN we have this photo:
Tumblr media
We don't know when it was made but it could be from six years ago? But Caleb does not look 5 4 years older than Kaylee... all of this is just one big mysterie.
Anyway I wish we would have learned more about Silas because the things we do learn are not really anything to go with... all we can do is take those and put our own preferred headcanons around them.

Which The Quarry and Until Dawn Characters Would Be Friends
I've seen a couple posts like this, and I absolutely wanted to take a stab at it because I think I have a kind of unpopular opinion!
In General I don't think the characters would get along at all. In both games they're all sort of loosely based on horror media stereotypes, Until Dawn way more so than The Quarry even though The Quarry really leans into the camp-y slasher movie vibes. But just because they're two groups of people put in horror situations vaguely based on horror tropes doesn't mean they'd get along!!
For example, people compare Mike and Jacob fairly often, but they're direct opposite subversions of the dumb jock trope. Mike is incredibly smart and brave and really not an asshole the way he's initially depicted. Jacob on the other hand is a bit of an asshole, but out of insecurity. He's a deeply sensitive and emotional person, but not exactly a mastermind! I love them both a lot but they're clearly very different (imo) and if they were thrown in a new horror movie together I don't think they'd get along. I don't even think they'd necessarily be besties if they were just hanging out casually.
Or, people compare Laura and Sam a lot. And they're both very strong, capable women who do a lot to drive the plot. I think they'd have a healthy respect for each other, and work well together in the event that more horror shit goes down, but I can't really see them being friends for some reason. I think Laura would also really respect Mike and they might be closer to becoming friends but for some reason I just don't see it still!
The list goes on, to be honest. I really commonly see people say that characters that serve similar narrative purposes or who have similar surface level personalities would be friends, but I don't usually see it. In my mind Chris would be disliked by nearly everyone, except maybe Abi. But I don't see Ashley and Abi getting along. There's not a single Until Dawn character I see really vibing with Nick, except maybe Matt.
I think Emily and Emma would got on like a housefire though. I could see them also hanging heavy with Jessica if Emily and Jessica could get over their beef over Mike, but even then I think their type of bitchy mean girls are like. Distinctly Different.
As a general statement the atmosphere of the games are so different that they don't lend to characters the should get along. It's good character writing imo that they're basically tailor made to exist in the universe they do, with the characters they do. Until Dawn, as a game, is way more cynical which leads to way more mean or bitter characters (which is not to say i think they're all assholes, i don't), and it doesn't have nearly the amount of hope that the quarry does (which i know feels wrong to say because there are so many ways to kill the counselors but I mean atmospherically).
In general I think the casts are so well made and so balanced within their own games! And regardless of whether or not the until dawn and the quarry characters would be friends, I think it's fascinating to think about them interacting. But I can never actually foresee a universe or situation that would allow these two groups of people to seriously be friends.
To be fair to other peoples interpretations, this is all personal - I'm obviously not the authority on either game. And while I've played through until dawn many, many times I haven't played it in about 3 or 4 years, so my memories of the quarry cast are much fresher. I could be totally misremembering things, but in general i don't really think I am.

Starting a new post for @verloutte and my Nepo Baby Miles discourse because we do not need to keep seeing the entire post about Susan’s honkers to talk about it lmfao
Tumblr media
And that’s totally valid tbh, I felt like kind of a dork feeling the need to defend someone with that much privilege! But I also can’t help really liking the guy and what he brings to roles (there’s no way I’d be this deep in The Quarry fandom without his performance as Dylan, let’s be real) and I think we can be aware of structural issues in entertainment/society as a whole and still enjoy actors and the art they make, assuming that just being privileged is their most problematic aspect.
Doesn’t hurt that Miles also seems to be personally aware of those structural issues and he has a lot of extremely correct takes that he gives freely, to the point that people rage quit his Quarry stream over him being too “woke.” 🤭 I also want to take time to appreciate that he’s still mad at Woody Allen because seriously fuck Woody Allen.
Tumblr media
Anyway, in conclusion, I over-reply and over-analyze because that is what my brain does and tumblr makes it hard to do that in a casual, conversational way so… yeah. Definitely not mad at anyone who thinks Miles is a nepo baby! He does fit the most basic definition. But he’s probably my favorite one.

honestly, the saddest thing is the implication that it’s only at travis’ insistence  (see: jedediah’s line about “no more protecting anyone, travis”) and possible threat of legal action that the hacketts even bother trying to keep others safe during each full moon.
they’re normally so eager and willing to abuse his position as sheriff to strong-arm locals and outsiders alike -- even chris, to an extent, with his email about contacting the podcast -- but when it comes to keeping people from harm, the only one actively trying (aside from chris locking himself up) is travis.
he’s spent the better part of six years influencing the locals and lying through his teeth, all for the sake of his town and its visitors.  he’s had to forsake his own moral code and do some thoroughly dubious things for his family, wedged firmly beneath their proverbial thumb, in order to make them comply / cooperate and try to protect the people that wander into those woods.  the most depressing part is, they only treat him well when he’s complacent and doing as they demand.
his entire existence has boiled down to how useful he is to someone, and while the idea of being able to help people is one of the most important things to him, it's become yet another thing his family's tainted by expecting his help in illegal ways.
he’s caught in a constant struggle between his loyalty to an abusive, manipulative family and his desire to keep others safe.  and he’s just weak enough, just subservient enough, that the former usually wins in the end.

Pitch for the third installment in the Until Dawn/The Quarry trilogy:
1) The title: META
(reason: double entendre since the game is a meta-take on horror gaming and a reference to the Metaverse)
2) The plot
In 1984, a mysterious serial killer known as The Gravedigger murders a sibling pair who were on their way to visit family.
In the present day, a group of people vacationing in the same spot as the Gravedigger murders realize they’re being stalked. But as the night goes on, the vacationers realize there’s something else to fear aside from the killer. Something…supernatural-
Wait…why does this feel familiar? Isn’t this the same plot as Until Dawn? Also, this doesn’t feel too different from The Quarry. Something feels wrong with this set-up…
As the game goes on, the main characters start to feel that there’s something off about their world. They feel like they’re just following a script and that they have no control over their actions. That’s when we get the big reveal; they’re trapped inside a virtual world that was developed by Supermassive Games. In reality, the main characters are gamers who were brought in by Supermassive to test a new virtual reality game. However, a rogue programmer hacked the game, resulting in the gamers losing their memories, being stripped of their free will, and becoming trapped inside.
You, the player(s), are an actual character in the story. You’re a Supermassive employee trying to save the gamers by playing the rogue programmer’s script and making choices for the helpless gamers. It’s up to you to stop the rogue programmer, who is making the virtual world more and more nightmarish as the story goes on.
So, while chapters 1-6 play out like a typical Supermassive game, chapters 7-10 become more of a surreal nightmare due to the rogue programmer fighting back against the player.
3) Inspirations (to get a feel for how I imagined the game would turn out):
The Backrooms, The Cell, Doki Doki Literature Club, Harvester, Don’t Worry Darling, WandaVision, Too Many Cooks, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, Danganronpa V3, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch
Sword Art Online and The Matrix, for non-horror inspirations
Squid Game, sorta kinda. It’s mainly the concept of this evil overseer watching over these people who are being forced to take part in the overseer’s game.
4) The main playable cast:
* Sean Parker (INTOLERANT, ARROGANT, CONFIDENT): A men’s rights activist/Andrew Tate-type gamer. He is played by Gregg Sulkin.
* Kim Myung-seok (BRAVE, RATIONAL, STOIC): An esports player from South Korea. He is played by Wi Ha-joon.
* Sameer Patel (INSECURE, RELAXED, DEFENSIVE): A gaming journalist from the United Kingdom. He is played by Dev Patel.
* Luis Santos (FOOLHARDY, CHARMING, BRASH): A gamer from Los Angeles and Melissa’s love interest. He is played by Anthony Ramos.
* Melissa Ramirez (AMBITIOUS, ADVENTUROUS, SELFISH): A gamer from Texas and Luis’ love interest. She is played by Leslie Grace.
* Donna Smith (COMMANDING, KIND, ADAPTABLE): A gamer who becomes the de facto leader of the group. She is played by Zazie Beetz.
* June Greene (REBELLIOUS, DETERMINED, WITTY): An e-girl streamer who is the first to realize something is off about the world. She is played by Erin Kellyman.
* Katrina Mason (NAIVE, ANTI-SOCIAL, FEARFUL): A NEET-type gamer who reluctantly joins the group. She is played by Kaitlyn Dever.
(Romance paths: Luis x Melissa, June x Katrina, Donna can choose between Myung-seok and Sameer. Sean is the only one without a romance path, for obvious reasons.)
5) Other characters:
* The Player, a gender-neutral Supermassive employee who, from the real world, is guiding the characters to safety (or getting them killed).
* Dante Connors: The rogue programmer responsible for trapping the gamers. He is the main villain of the game. Dante is played by David Tennant.
* The CEO of Supermassive, who fulfills the same role as the Curator, the Therapist, and Eliza Vorez. To make this as meta as possible, he is played by the actual CEO of the company.
