"What I like is that sense of a fish out of water, someone who’s struggling, who’s haphazardly clawing their way out. Women are heroic when they’re in way over their heads."
I was watching The Quite Place today and decided to write a Dream AU snippet of it. Wilbur and Techno are twins, Phil’s there fathers. Phil in this AU is deaf and taught both boys how to sign. That’s all you need to know.
He screamed, the creatures claws pricing the top of the car. The whole vehicle rattled, the engine refusing to start. Wilbur franticly turned the key over and over again, praying that the damn thing would just start.
The window broke. “Get down!” Techno shouted from behind him, grabbing his hoodie from the backseat and pull him backwards. Wilbur hit the back of his seat as the thing clawed the thin air in front of him. He holds his breath, hands clutching the seat underneath him as he stared at the creature in front of himself.
Then suddenly the creature backed off, it’s long arm retreating from the car. He didn’t dare let out a shaky breath as he followed the thing around the car with his eyes. Techno did the same, moving out of the way when it circled to the back of the car.
Out in the road behind them stood Phil, shotgun in hand. “…no.” Wilbur whispered, eyes widening. Techno seemed to understand as he started to shake, tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Start the car.” He hissed, shoving his shoulder towards the wheel. The creature’s head shot back towards them, snarling ooze from its bloody mouth. The sound of a shotgun loading rang through the air.
Wilbur was frozen stiff as the creature turned its back on there father, deciding they were a much better meal. Techno was shoving him, yelling at him to start the car. But he was frozen, knowing that would do nothing. The thing was to old, it was a miracle the lights even turned on.
‘I love you boys.’ Phil signed, lifting the gun up.
“Don’t you do it!” Techno and him yelled in union. But it was no use, he fired the gun. The creature whirled around at the sound and charged. The last thing Wilbur hears is a loud bone chilling crunch, then Techno wailing.
