a little morning pick-me-up
-
A morning on the way to Baldur's Gate. The party booked themselves into an inn and enjoyed real beds, hot baths, and privacy for the first time since the Nautiloid.
Gale and Mayhew shared a room, of course. They were filled with the relief of surviving the shadows and the glow of finally getting together, so their private room was probably a blessing for the whole party, honestly.

This was some ascended anatomy practice! Referenced some great stock from @null-entity.

carlos to redbull.... carlos to mercedes.. carlos to audi...carlos to williams. how about carlos to a team where they appreciate his efforts, don't call his wins gifted, somewhere he feels respected and cherished both by fans and the team? somewhere he has some sort of say in his decisions? where he can be happy and thrive at his own pace even if the car isn't necessarily the best?

Fandom Gripe #23: I know that fandom is in some deep denial about its treatment of female characters that are canonically involved with fan favorite m/m ships, but do y’all realize that when you disappear female characters from the narrative wholesale to push the idea that your canonically straight fav was “secretly gay all along!” you’re making several bad implications? That 1) bi men don’t exist, 2) bi men do exist, but those who have genuinely loved a woman before cannot genuinely love a man after that (therefore bi men don’t exist in practice), 3) women cannot inspire genuine love and devotion in men, therefore any relationship with a woman is “lesser” than the one they later have a man (see previous parenthesis), or 4) to acknowledge the existence of a lovable woman who isn’t a terrible person, where if a relationship previously existed, it did not end because of “incompatibility,” is enough to destabilize the present relationship between two queer men?
Because why is the tgcf fandom allergic to acknowledging that He Xuan had a whole ass fiancée that he loved? Why does no one ever seem to remember that the kidnappings and murders of He Xuan’s sister and fiancée were the final straws that sent him on his rampage, and he still keeps a shrine to them in the present-day of the story? Why is her entire existence and significance to He Xuan as a man, character, and to his character arc disappeared in favor of pushing Shi Qingxuan—the brother of the man responsible for his fiancée’s death—into that same role, as if to say that her impact on He Xuan is significant... just not when it's from her? Why does He Xuan’s life in fandom essentially begin not just after her death but because of it?

“Willow is the Evelyn to Hunter’s Caleb!”
“Luz is the Evelyn to Hunter’s Caleb!”
y’all constantly be missing the key part of this which is that Hunter is not Caleb in anyone’s eyes but Belos, and we already know who Belos considered to be the Evelyn in this scenario.
it’s Flapjack.
That’s it that’s your answer everyone pack it up and go home.

Oh BOI when I tell you this transition gave me shivers
This is a prime example of why spies like Twilight cannot afford emotional attachment, why their entire survival depends on them ignoring their own internal struggles.
Donovan Desmond is a force to be reckoned with; within minutes of meeting Loid, he shamelessly shares his corrupted views on humanity:
"It is simply impossible to understand what someone else is thinking. People will never be able to understand each other."
And that's why you're using force to bring other nations to their knees?
There you have Twilight; a man who lost everything in a war started by people who had the same way of thinking that Desmond has; a man who has sacrificed his own identity and chances of personal happiness in his mission to never allow others to suffer like he did.
The emotional investment is huge. He doesn't do it just because he thinks it's the right thing to do, he does it because he has first-hand experience of how much pain a war can cause. And he'd rather keep suffering if it means such pain won't be felt again by anyone else.
And yet, through all his internal turmoil, he has to look at Desmond and smile and agree with him. Him acting like the loyal Ostanian citizen who believes the Desmond group cares for the country is nothing compared to this transition. He goes from a man who is haunted by the traumas of his past to a beaming, hopeful man who indirectly endorses violence - the very thing that ruined his and many other people's lives - over understanding among humans
He has to become the exact opposite of what he stands for, become the kind of man like the ones whose actions ruined him. And the ironic depiction is not lost to the audience; his eyes are covered in shadows as we hear his inner thoughts, slowly getting brighter as he prepares his disguise, and finally getting back to the light when he fully dons it.
It's disturbing and it's wrong and it's the opposite of how it should be. Twilight may have made it his life's mission to never act on his emotions, but it's perfectly clear he does have emotions; he's just very good at willingly pushing them aside. And this depiction in that lighting is perfect to show how it's a necessary and conscious depravity of his own self that he has to partake in in order to survive and see his mission through.
It's brilliant. Disturbing, but brilliant.
(Anime only fan here, don't spoil me for the manga)

those poorly written tacked-on het crushes are sooo much nicer when you read them in a dykebreaking/acebreaking perspective.
oh, that girl had so much chemistry with the other female lead, but got a cookie-cutter boyfriend at the last minute to enforce heteronormative standards? noo, don't worry! that boyfriend just taught her the joys of Men, and fixed her silly delusions <3
that girl could be easily read as aro/ace and the presence of a male love interest only seems to invalidate her whole arc and make her seem kind of bland? don't be silly! he just taught her that she needs a Man to survive, and helped her overcome her fear of real love.
that girl who loses all her personality and development to become the male lead's side piece should be a role model! who needs representation when you can have inspiration like this?

I saw a thing that suggested Ingo and Emmet are mirror twins (good) and that one of them has situs inversus totalis (very good) and my proposal is that it's Ingo who has the mirrored organs because it means when they're doing their point and call pose together their hearts are right next to each other
